DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY LIE AND STEAL

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are thieves and steal money from their customers! I paid a £150 deposit in good faith, which I was told was refundable should I not wish to go ahead my booking. I ended up booking tickets myself and they refused to give me my money back. I lodged a complaint and despite having evidence and their calls being recorded, they fobbed me off and keep telling me they will sort this out and get back to me. This has been going on for the last 6 months. Southall Travel are thieves and liars and should be ashamed of themselves. In response to the below from Southall Travel, I have provided you with my complaint reference number, which should be sufficient. Clearly it is not! The reference I was given via email when I stupidly paid you a deposit is: #1790-6673 and this was paid to you on 18.08.23. It has still not been returned to me despite this being promised (which you will see from the recorded calls). Again, my complaint reference number is: NS1589. I called your office again last week and spoke with Max. He said he’d call me back shortly but of course never did. This company is an absolute disgrace. I am getting legal advice and have also advised my credit card company.

Cannot fathom a worse experience from SOUTHALL TRAVELS

I had an urgent travel requirement and had booked flight tickets through Southall Travels (Flysharp). After receiving the booking reference number and having the amount deducted from our company's debit card, I was contacted by one of their agents, Pearl. Initially, she claimed that they had not received the payment and requested me to transfer the amount via bank transfer, providing a link for the transaction. Upon checking my bank account, I found that the amount had indeed been deducted. I immediately contacted my bank to confirm, and they affirmed that the deduction had occurred and could not be reversed. Subsequently, I attempted to make another transaction using my credit card, yet Southall Travels insisted that the payment had not been fully authenticated from their end. I find it perplexing that despite their initial verification process and the use of the payment link sent to my registered email address, they still could not authenticate the payment. After spending nearly two hours on the phone, they informed me that I would need to pay an additional £600 to proceed with the booking, citing the airline's cancellation of the reservation. It became evident that their motive was to secure extra last-minute booking fees. Their incompetence forced me to rearrange my travel plans and miss an important meeting. As a result of this experience, I have no intention of ever engaging with this company again, nor will I recommend them to others. As an international recruiter, I used to endorse Southall Travel to my clients, but their incompetence has not only lost them a customer but also tarnished their reputation.

Poor Service Expensive Prices

Poor service , expensive prices. I would not use this company . the prices are cheaper if you book directly through the airline so using a ' call center' operation like this makes absolutely no sense whatsover . You can book directly with BA or another airline...ie KLM or Air France and have cheaper flights....their commision is one top..as well as this you wont have to speak with someone like Hector..when having to change my flight due to illness he simply lied and insisted that flights were much more expensive to India in ' high season'..ie August .he then told me the flight would be around 1500 GBP.i went on the BA site and saw that the prices were exactly the same for August *900 GBP...as in any time of year ...this is not high season in India ..he lied..then and when confronted with his lies... extremely dismissive and rude..if not quite aggresive ..no commision i guess !! I lost my flight...had i gone through BA this would not have occured . They would have been courteous and helpful at least ..and help me change the flight...and i would not have had the stress of dealing with someone like Hector..never again.,less stress booking direct and cheaper.

Southall travel organised a wonderful…

Southall travel organised a wonderful trip in the golden triangle of India including Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur. Our driver Pradeep was safe and knowledgeable and the hotels were all great with the exception of the Royal Orchid hotel In Jaipur. Southall Travel should look at the public health issues with the swimming pool here, very disturbing. Also if you travel with Southall travel ask about the zones at Ranthambore before you book. Try to go into zones 1,2,3 or 4 even if it’s in a canter. You are much more likely to see tigers in these zones.

Company is lying that full refund is not given by airline.such a big agency and Waited 40 days for refund provide all medical document useless customer care didn’t reply to email £270 detected even medical ground evidence provided for cancer patient. Airline said it was refunded to agency and they will do the refund.

What a shocking company. Paid deposit after being given quote then 2 days later the price rises by £800.steer clear of them

Can I cancel my booking with Southall Travel?

Do you have to cancel your Southall booking?

Yes, you can cancel your booking but you are not guaranteed any refund for the money you spent in making the original reservation. You must notify Southall of your decision to cancel as soon as possible. Any cancellation notification over the phone is not considered valid unless it is accompanied by a written notification or by email within 24 hours of notification. It is also important to note that any email received must be from the email ID registered with Southall at the time of booking, any other email address will be considered invalid. Any cancellation notice will only take effect on the date that it is received by Southall, not when it is sent by you.

After a request to cancel is processed you must receive a cancellation invoice with an additional fee within 7 days or else you will be subject to an increase in charges. If you are already in possession of your airline tickets, these must be returned to Southall along with the cancellation request. 

Below is an outline of the cancellation charges:

Any insurance premiums and amendment charges purchased through Southall are non-refundable under any circumstances. Additionally, certain travel arrangements cannot be changed or cancelled after they have been confirmed without incurring a 100% cancellation charge. If you have purchased the full insurance offered by Southall, this only covers loss of deposit and additional cancellation fees, not the cancellation charges; and this insurance does not cover all travel arrangements. If only some members of the booking party wish to cancel, then the remaining members are held responsible for the remaining charges.

Can I cancel my Southall reservation within 24 hours of booking?

Yes, but you will be faced with 100% of the booking cost as well as any extra cancellation fees outlined in the terms & conditions.

How do I cancel my Southall reservation within 24 hours of booking?

Step 1: Notify Southall as soon as possible by calling Customer Service

Step 2: Send an email confirmation or a written document to validate your cancellation. Include the airline tickets in your cancellation request

Step 3: Wait for a cancellation invoice within 7 days to confirm your cancellation

Step 4: Be prepared to pay for the cancellation charge as well as any other additional fees

How can I change my Southall booking?

Any amendment to your already confirmed booking will be considered, but it is not guaranteed. Any amendment request must be made in writing by the person who made the original booking from the email ID registered with Southall at the time of booking. There is an amendment fee of 

£100.00 per person and you will be held responsible for any other amendment charges the airline, hotel, or holiday package requires.

However, if any member of the booking party is prevented from travelling, you may transfer the ticket to someone else as long as the following conditions have been met: that person is introduced by you; you notified Southall at least 7 days before departure; you pay the remainder of your balance, an amendment fee of £100.00, any additional charges; and the transferee agrees to the contract made with Southall. After a change is made, you and the transferee will remain jointly responsible for the payment of all sums.

To change the date, time or destination of your Southall reservation, follow these steps:

Step 1: Submit a request for a change to your reservation by emailing Southall from the email ID that was registered at the time of booking

Step 2: Wait to hear back from Southall as to whether or not they are able to process your request

Step 3: Pay the amendment fee of £100.00 per person, as well as any other costs incurred while making the alteration

Sell your holiday to someone else and get your refund that way

If you feel like cancelling or changing your holiday costs too much, you’re right! Do you know that you can sell your holiday to someone else and receive your refund that way? All you need to do is change the names on your reservation to the person you are selling it to and pay the associated name change fees. 

If you have a package holiday but cannot change the name of the flight, you can still change the name on the hotel booking and at least sell that. It is still much better than paying 100% cancellation charges!  

Southall name change policy

Southall’s name change policy states that if you wish to make amendments to your booking, and your hotel accommodation and airline allow it, then you may change the name on the booking. Any amendments to the booking however, will be subject to a name change fee specific to the hotel and airline you booked as well as a £100.00 amendment fee put in place by Southall.

How can I change the name on a Southall reservation?

Step 1: Ensure that it is at least 7 days before departure

Step 2: Request a name change by emailing Southall from the email that was registered at the time of booking

Step 3: Ensure that the transferee fits the criteria to take over the ticket

Step 4: Pay any outstanding balances, including a £100.00 per person amendment fee

Step 5: The transferee must agree to the Booking Conditions with Southall

Can I sell my Southall booking?

Yes, you can! As long as the flight and hotel reservation allow for name changes then a simple change of name is all it takes in order to be able to re sell your booking. You may be faced with the amendment fee specific to your hotel on top of any airline charges.

But did you know that under the Package Travel Directive, which applies in the whole of the European Union, travel agents have to allow name changes for package holidays? A package holiday is anything where you buy two combinations of travel bookings - like a hotel and a flight. Southall has to allow you to transfer the holiday in another person's name.

Southall travel organised a wonderful…

Southall travel organised a wonderful trip in the golden triangle of India including Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur. Our driver Pradeep was safe and knowledgeable and the hotels were all great with the exception of the Royal Orchid hotel In Jaipur. Southall Travel should look at the public health issues with the swimming pool here, very disturbing. Also if you travel with Southall travel ask about the zones at Ranthambore before you book. Try to go into zones 1,2,3 or 4 even if it’s in a canter. You are much more likely to see tigers in these zones.

“Worth experience ever”

I had the worst ever experience in booking a flight with Southall travels. The agent who handled me did not understand me and kept going for 2 hours. After a frustrating conversation of close to 2-2.5 hours I booked the tickets to get it done with only to find that the tickets are way cheaper in the airline site. Don't ever use southall travels

“Poor and Dodgy service”

Very poor service, dodgy deals and false commitments. When it comes to refund... it is a nightmare. Soon after booking confirmation they start changing the flights dates & timing. Too difficult to get hold of someone on phone. Their phone are most of time on auto repliers. Their flexible ticket means if you refund you will have to pay £200 per ticket. My refund dispute is pending for the last four months Please keep away from this fraud company.

Hi, I am currently taking Southall to court because I claim to have been misrepresented by the sales person who sold me two business class tickets on the 11 th Oct 2019. What they did, nt explain to me was that there a three different types of business class ticket through Oman Air (Lite) normal and prime. I have asked for a transcript of the booking, but so far they have not sent it even though their Solicitors claims that it does exist. I will report back if litigation takes place in a small claims court and I give full details.

Tip for consumers: Ask for an email first confirming the verbal agreement .

Booked flights which were cancelled due to PIA being suspended. Southall made no communication regarding the cancellation or the refund. I have had to call them to get updates. They have had my refund for over a week now and have not bothered contacting me. They have advised 14 days to process refund when I contacted them. I have used them a few times. You don't know how good a company is till there is an issue. I will definitely not be using southall again.

Rubbish travel agent I booked tickets to travel to India via jet airways which failed while i was in India I contacted them and travel agent instead of helping started selling me tickets - return for £1700 pounds per person - Some of my friends bought it. I purchased new tickets to fly back and now I am claiming money via credit card chargeback scheme and this crooks are preventing them They are not ATOL protected and they sell tickets for airlines that is not ATOL protected too. So providing wrong information to customers Customer service remains poor and they do not have complaint procedure/policy or department. I have serious concerned about this travel agent. I am in process of reporting them for fraud.

Has anybody used this company and done this? They have said that the fare is guaranteed but I'm just a little worried as from what I can see, they don't have the best reviews.

Alternatively, has anyone used another agent and been able to only pay an initial deposit?

Southall travel have been around a long long time ... based in erm Southall, with a physical office you can go into if something wrong happens, rather than an internet company where you'll have to explore legal avenues if something goes wrong. It's a security i like.

Never deal with them though.

So you need to know what the TTL is (ie - final payment date) and what the cancellation fees for both the agent and the airline are.

Hope you have already booked by now. This is a common and customer friendly approach that many travel agents adopt. We booked last year with southall and paid only part payment and cleared the balance a week later. Faced no problems and got the same fare as promised.

This post was determined to be inappropriate by the Tripadvisor community and has been removed.

I suspect you'll find that Southall were right and Jet wrong, and the Jet agent misinformed you. When you miss a segment it's standard practice that all future segments are cancelled.

Had you bought direct with Jet for example then they could have rebooked your flights over the phone ( though as I say I think you'd have found you ended up paying the same as you did to Southall)

Unfortunately I seemed to be talking to a call centre in India and they booked me Newcastle to Heathrow .Heathrow to Delhi.Great the problem is on the return leg.Delhi to Heathrow and Gatwick to Newcastle !!! I rang them to tell them they had made a mistake and that I only had 3-45m to land get through customs, find a taxi travel over an hour to another airport and that is if every thing was on time and I could find a taxi? , I was. Told it was booked and payed for and they would change it for a £100 each plus any extra on the flights .They have my money and arn,t interested.

I am stuck with flights at the wrong airport and I don't know if I will make it in time plus god knows what it will cost for a taxi.

Was told that the full £1,500 would be refunded back into my account but would take 5 days to show, totally unacceptable seeing as it was a thurs and due to the weekend meant i spent a whole week without any money to b8uy food etc, plus the charges i will incur for going overdrawn. No one replied to my phone calls, e-mails or anything so lodged complaint with Trading Standards, ABTA and the Mteropolitan Police Fraud squad to investigate. Will also be taking them to court to regain consequential losses and charges incurred until money is returned. Legal advice told me that the transactions were illegal. Even though the company had my visa debit details, the fact I had cancelled the holiday and at NO time ever permitted or authorised anhyone from Southall Travel to use my card for further payments makes it illegel, hence the Fraud Squad.

Southall Travel have always been good to me. You were leaving it a bit to chance just to send a letter, by registered post or otherwise, without checking it had been received and actioned. You're also getting a full refund, what more do you want. The five days is unfortunate, but transactions take time to go through the banking system. I bet many companie would at least have wanted to make a deduction for admin costs.

Yes I agree that relying on a letter was not enough. Personally I would've wanted to speak to someone so that I knew the holiday had been cancelled and also have it confirmed in writing Saying that though, Southall had no right in taking money out of the bank account without authorisation and leaving someone overdrawn is not on. I do sympathise with your situation and hope you get it sorted.

i agree with Mg23, you really must do every thing you can to look after your self. follow up every thing , have it in writeing.It is not enough to just write to the firm. We know in an ideal world it should be enough, but in truth most of us know it is not.

I know lots of people who have used Southall Travel, and they have always been happy though.

We had a similar experience with Makemytrip India and had to get Visa card to refund us in the end.

I think this sort of thing can happen with any of the booking agents and it seems you can never get hold of anybody who has the authority to give a refund, so think you were lucky to get one so quick.

Personally i have booked several times with Southall and recommended friends too, and none of us have experienced problems. I've always found them to be helpful and competitive.

Southall travel has been adversely mentioned on T/A quite a few times for similar things to yours passpato, and yes i would say that there are a lot more satisfied customers than not and just because you are one of them does not mean they do not make mistakes i have had dealings with southall travel for quite a number of years and in that time i would not say they have made mistakes they have been down right incompetent to say the least, as for sending the letter they must have received it otherwise i dont think they would be refunding any money and finally if i was to send a registered letter to any body and somebody had signed to say they had received it i would not feel the need do any thing els to prove they had got it, you have all my sympathy passpatoo.

I find with all these third party booking sites that you have no problems until you wish to make amendments/cancellations etc. I think the majority of people who say they have had no problems are the people who have never had an after booking customer service query.

Why would you not follow up the letter with a quick phone call and at the very least request something in writing from Southall confirming that your booking had been cancelled?!

I can empathise with your predicament, but honestly I would never assume everything was OK just because I had sent a letter.

Nor me. In fact, I'd probably have rung to cancel the booking, then written, then rung again, with a good few emails in between. I've used Southall Travel several times and have never had any problems with them at all.

Southall travel organised a wonderful…

Southall travel organised a wonderful trip in the golden triangle of India including Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur. Our driver Pradeep was safe and knowledgeable and the hotels were all great with the exception of the Royal Orchid hotel In Jaipur. Southall Travel should look at the public health issues with the swimming pool here, very disturbing. Also if you travel with Southall travel ask about the zones at Ranthambore before you book. Try to go into zones 1,2,3 or 4 even if it’s in a canter. You are much more likely to see tigers in these zones.

Company is lying that full refund is not given by airline.such a big agency and Waited 40 days for refund provide all medical document useless customer care didn’t reply to email £270 detected even medical ground evidence provided for cancer patient. Airline said it was refunded to agency and they will do the refund.

Try to go into zones 1,2,3 or 4 even if it's in a canter. You are much more likely to see tigers in these zones.
