Stevie Nicks Announces 2022 Tour Dates After Expressing Caution Toward Performing amid COVID

Stevie Nicks is finally ready to return to the stage.

On Monday, the 73-year-old musician and Fleetwood Mac frontwoman announced four new concerts as part of a limited summer and early fall tour, marking her first live shows since before the COVID-19 pandemic's onset.

Nicks' 2022 tour launches with a performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 7, and the newly-announced show dates include June 10 at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington, June 12 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, June 16 at the USANA Amphitheatre in Salt Lake City, Utah, and June 21 at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana.

Throughout the tour, the "Edge of Seventeen" performer will also appear at music festivals including Bonnaroo, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Sea Hear Now, Sound on Sound, and Ohana.

Despite many other musicians performing concerts throughout 2021, Nicks announced in August that she was canceling all of her tour dates for the year , citing uncertainty and discomfort surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

"These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made. I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us," she wrote on Instagram at the time.

"While I'm vaccinated, at my age I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the five performances I had planned for 2021," continued Nicks. "Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my primary goal is to keep healthy so I can continue singing for the next decade or longer."

"I'm devastated and I know the fans are disappointed, but we will look towards a brighter 2022," concluded the Grammy winner, who was scheduled to perform at last year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Jazz Aspen Festival as well as BottleRock Napa Valley and both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Named by Rolling Stone as the “Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll,” as well as one of the top 100 singers and songwriters of all time Stevie Nicks has been a force in the music world since the ‘70s.

Nicks boasts a long string of hits as both the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman and a solo singer-songwriter. While she’s known for moody, poetic lyricism drawing on painful relationships, her intense theatrical presence onstage makes her live performances unforgettable.

Before Nicks became a best-selling artist, she was an avid young music enthusiast. She shared a passion for the country genre with her grandfather and often sang duets alongside him as a toddler. Eventually, this devoted love helped Nicks find her voice and realize her creative talent.

After joining bands throughout high school, Nicks stumbled upon her soon-to-be bandmate and romantic partner Lindsey Buckingham. The pair dove headfirst into the ’70s music scene with original demo tapes and albums. Although the Buckingham-Nicks collaboration didn’t perform as well as expected, the duo’s team-up – and their tempestuous relationship – set the tone for a future with the band Fleetwood Mac.

Nicks proved her expertise during Fleetwood Mac’s steady rise to fame. She claimed her spot as a vocalist and helped steer the band toward an iconic debut. Fleetwood Mac’s debut self-titled album featured numerous songwriting credits from the frontwoman.

“Rhiannon” and “Landslide” – both written by Nicks – quickly became certified classics thanks to her impressive vocal talent. It launched the group’s 1975 full-length release to historical heights, marking a memorable beginning to a legendary career.

Nicks played a crucial role in Fleetwood Mac’s growing discography. Besides the band’s stellar debut LP, Nicks’s contributions to later projects like Rumours, Tusk, and Mirage cemented her reputation as a creative force to be reckoned with. She was a pivotal piece to the band’s ever-changing image.

The singer backed up her songwriting skills with breathtaking live performances. Her on-stage presence showcased true star potential, especially with her unique voice and rock ‘n’ roll energy. No one denied her ability to captivate the crowd and take the stage by storm. Naturally, it wasn’t a surprise when Nicks decided to go solo and step away from the Fleetwood Mac spotlight.

As she pursued solo projects, Nicks expanded her vocal and songwriting versatility. Studio albums like Bella Donna, The Wild Heart, Rock a Little, and The Other Side of the Mirror helped her break into the ’80s music scene. “Edge of Seventeen,” “Stand Back,” “Nightbird,” and other chart-topping singles symbolized her rock royalty status. Her presence and fame only rose higher as the modern-day music era rolled around.

Nicks recorded eight solo studio albums, earned multi-platinum status, and garnered plenty of number one hits. Her work alongside Fleetwood Mac helped the band achieve a highly acclaimed reputation and recognized her power as an in-demand artist.

In 2018, Nicks made her way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Because of her previous induction with Fleetwood Mac in 1998, this marked the first time a woman secured multiple spots as a rock honoree.

Today, Nicks continues her venture as one of the greatest female musicians. Many stars like Lorde, HAIM, Taylor Swift, and Harry Styles cite the singer as a huge driving force in their careers. She often offers a helping hand to these pop phenoms, performing alongside them on stage and sharing her talent with new and long-time fans.

Nicks’ time with Fleetwood Mac made her a certified success. Ultimately, her knack for songwriting, groundbreaking performances, and supreme vocals took her a step further. There’s no doubt her legacy as a rock legend will live on forever.

Live reviews

The individual members of Fleetwood Mac have to find something to do when they’re not touring their collective back catalogue to packed arenas at eye-watering prices; for Stevie Nicks, that’s usually involved focusing on her solo career. Back in 2011, she turned out her first solo record in a decade, In Your Dreams, to a generally positive critical response; like most of her solo work, it focused more directly on a rock sound than much of her Fleetwood Mac material has, and the live show that accompanied it, when she hit the road in support of it, leant in a similar direction. After a joint tour in the U.S. with fellow cocaine enthusiast Rod Stewart, she played in front of 60,000 people at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London - the first time she’d stepped out on her own in Europe since 1989. In keeping with the tone of the new record, the Fleetwood Mac songs that she did perform were the heavier numbers, with an extended, jam-laden version of ‘Gold Dust Woman’ amongst the highlights. Solo standout ‘Edge of Seventeen’, too, received the full rock treatment, running over twelve minutes with a scintillating guitar intro. Nicks was flanked by backing singers, but frankly didn’t need them; her voice has stood up astonishingly well to years of well-documented drug abuse. Fleetwood Mac tours are so lucrative that it’s difficult to see Nicks throwing herself back into the solo arena all that whole-heartedly any time soon; should she surprise us, though, she’s already got the live side of things down pat.

Stevie Nicks was outstanding! I read some negative reviews online from people who had seen the show and I disagree with all of them! Some said she talked too much between songs but I loved her stories on how the songs came to be. Also, her voice was in perfect form. She did some songs from her black gothic trunk as she called it that nobody had heard and they were great songs. She of course did some of her biggest hits and the audience went wild. Now, for the negative. Parking! We missed the Pretenders completely because the parking situation was a mess. It took over an hour from turning onto to the street the venue was on only to get directed all the way around the venue to the overflow parking lot. So many people missed them because of it.Could have been avoided with better planning by the venue. They knew the show was sold out! Cmon people. Very disappointing. 5 stars for Stevie! She still rocks!

Her solo show was awsome!!

She played all my favorite songs plus some new stuff .

She did an awesome tribute to New Orleans about Hurricane Katrina ..titled " New Orleans",

Which a lot of people never heard her song before .

Her voice was strong and sounded so good the musicians all played very well too!

I love the fact that she told a story along with all her music songs.. she connected with her fans it was very entertaining ..

I love the Pretenders !!

They played awesome too! They sounded just like the early 90's!! Chrissy Hines looks great Too!

They still got it going on and have many classic songs..

I would go back and see Stevie Nicks agsinnin the future..

she looked great Too!!

Well first off Stevie was amazing! the concert was amazing The Pretenders were awesome! but there was one thing that really made me mad was when during the concert a drunk woman from a row behind us fell on top of us she really did kinda hurt us she fell on us and just laid there on the ground for a good 5 mins then decides to get up and go get another beer but when she went to go down the stairs she slipped on the last step and fell down again! I'm very unhappy with the way they didn't kick her out for being too drunk to go down stairs they didn't even have a staff member come check on us when the woman fell and a staff member saw the whole thing happen.

I had waited a long time for this and was not disappointed at all!! Stevie was amazing, her voice is as good as it was years ago. Video does not do her justice! She told some stories about her songs which We found really interesting!! Some of her vault songs are truly beautiful and thankfully she got them out! If she comes back am deffinately going back to see her. She twirled and did the crazy dance in gold dust woman. Amazing concert Stevie!! We love you!!

Stevie is a ballarina of lyrics and can dance harmony into your soul, and she did in May when I saw her at MGM. She was magical the first time, and then she came back with Fleetwood mac in December when she put on another fantastic show. Her love for Lindsey showed in every song and when they cried on their duet there was no dry eyes in the arena. Stevie shines and her songs are life full of experance as you should of seen

The show was great Stevie and Chrissy can still sing amazingly ❤❤. But one thing, I couldn't hear Stevie talking from where I was out the back. But I do know she talked alot and sort of got the crowd hyped with a song then the mood swayed to boredom until the next song. May have been better if I could hear what she was saying. All in all though was a great concert.

Well parking issues were a disaster very unorganized so we missed the pretenders and beginning of Stevie and then we had seat jumpers in our seats very sad the for the money that we pay for those seats that we didn't even catch that maybe 7 songs if that only Stevie Nicks

spulce’s profile image

Not a bad show, her voice is still awesome as it was 40 years ago. Great set list of songs, however, her show was a bit slow because she talked about each song, and started side tracking on her stories. The band was great and so was her backup singers...

jim-klembara’s profile image

It rates right up there as one of the best concerts I've been to!!! For a 68 year old woman, Stevie still has the moves and the pipes she had when she was 20!!! Loved her stories and the songs she included that were not heard before!!!One fantastic show!!!

Stevie Nicks Dazzles at First Solo Headlining Show After Canceled Dates: Review and Setlist

Nicks kicked off her 2022 headlining run in Clarkston, MI on September 13th

Stevie Nicks Dazzles at First Solo Headlining Show After Canceled Dates: Review and Setlist

We’re in Clarkston, MI, at Pine Knob, where Stevie Nicks is kicking off her first tour in a handful of years ( get tickets here ). It’s Tuesday, September 13th, and the air smells like roadkill.

In the parking lot and the ticket lines, and the bathroom lines and the beer lines, you can practically taste the hairspray. The man behind me bellows, “Does anyone have any mushrooms?” The women in front of me are quite literally cawing at each other, and when one of the ticket lines ends up leading nowhere — a machine has died; long live the machines — a brunette says, “It’s ‘cause men are running it,” and then her friend says, “I need a coloring book and a safe space right now!”

At last, there’s activity on stage. Vanessa Carlton opens with a few bright, pop-y tunes, though it’s hard to hear her over the noise of the crowd. Everyone’s eyeliner is already running. Every inch of the lawn has been pasted over with sleeping bags and blankets, corners peeling back like damp postage stamps. A woman clutches a tiny dog in her hands. The breeze stinks with cigarettes and weed.

Then the lights go down and the band starts appearing on stage while Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down a Dream” pounds out of the speakers. There’s someone on organ and someone on piano; others on bass and drums; a few guitars; background singers. Then, all of a sudden, there’s Stevie, center-stage, spot-lit; there she is with her mane of crimped, silver-gold curls, in heeled boots, a black velvet jacket and a tiered skirt.

Stevie Nicks' OKC March 30 concert postponed due to COVID-19, new date set

stevie nicks tour 2022 deutschland

Stevie Nicks is postponing her upcoming Oklahoma City and New Orleans shows due to continued illness with COVID-19 within her band.

Originally scheduled for March 30, the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's Oklahoma City show now is slated for April 11 at Paycom Center, the venue announced Tuesday .

Nicks' planned April 2 concert in New Orleans has been rescheduled for April 15 at the city's Smoothie King Center.

Last week, Nicks, 74, had to postpone two Northern California shows on her solo tour due to COVID illness within her band. Those dates have not yet been rescheduled, according to Ticketmaster.

Nicks previously played the Oklahoma City arena as part of the legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac in 2003 and 2015 . The upcoming Paycom Center concert is believed to be her first solo show at the downtown Oklahoma City venue, after her 2016-2017 "24 Karat Gold Tour" routed through Tulsa and played the BOK Center .

With her solo induction in 2019, Nicks became the first woman to be twice ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having previously joined the fabled Rock Hall in 1998 as part of Fleetwood Mac .

Nicks also is touring stadiums this year with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Billy Joel . The next date on their co-headlining "Two Icons – One Night Only" trek is scheduled for April 8 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas .
