Special guests will include a wide range of up-and-coming country artists, such as Chayce Beckham, Tyler Braden, Ashley Cooke, Jackson Dean, Jon Langston, Conner Smith, Alana Springsteen, Hailey Whitters, and DJ Rock.

True to his mentoring of new artists as a judge on  American Idol , Bryan has a long tradition of giving breaks to emerging talent on his tours. Artists to benefit from the opportunity in the past have included Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch, Dylan Scott, Jon Langston,  Little Big Town , Morgan Wallen, Lauren Alaina, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Riley Green.

“Artists get into the business to make music and perform it for the fans,” says the five-time CMA Entertainer of the Year. “Leaving it all out on that stage is what it’s all about for me. I’m excited to support and have so many talented new artists along for the ride this year. It’s one of the most rewarding parts of our job.” The tour takes its name from his  recent hit single  “Country On.”

It is my way of life and I know it is a way of life for so many. It is truly the highlight of my year for me and my whole team.”

Loudoun Farm Tours are a biannual celebration of farming in Loudoun County, with one each for the planting in spring and the harvest in fall.

During the third weekends of May and October, Loudoun farms are encouraged to open to the public between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., offering parking, tours of operations, and an educational component that’s free and open to the public.

Loudoun Made, Loudoun Grown products, CSAs and memberships are typically available for purchase. Each tour offers a slightly different roster of participating farms, with some farms participating every year, while others cycle through.

A Unique Tradition in the Nation’s Capital Region

Begun in 1993 as the Fall Colors Tour, the tour took a more agricultural angle in the years that followed, and was conducted every harvest season including in a virtual and hybrid capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 1996, Loudoun Economic Development and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office added the Spring Farm Tour to kick off the growing season in the Loudoun Valley.

In the years since, the tour has grown in size and scope, regularly drawing visitors from throughout the D.C. region and beyond.

NASHVILLE — Five-time Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan will headline his 15th Farm Tour this September setting up stages in the fields of local farms Sept. 21-28.

The Ohio Valley is smack in the middle of two of those Farm Tour stops — both just off of Interstate 70 in Millersport, Ohio (near Buckeye Lake) and Smithton, Pa.

Four of the six concerts have been announced, including two stops at brand new farms included in the schedule this year.

Special guests include Conner Smith, Tucker Wetmore, the Peach Pickers (songwriters Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip) and DJ Rock. The additional two concerts will be released soon.

On Sept. 27, the tour hits the Miller Family Farm in Millersport, Ohio, and on Sept. 28, the tour stops at the Cunningham Family Farm (for the first time) in Smithton, Pa. Other stops announced include Sept. 21 at the Huggins Store in Marshville, N.C., and on Sept. 26 at the Mulberry Orchard in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

Tickets for shows on the Farm Tour are available now online at LukeBryan.com.

Thousands of fans have attended the tour each year since its inception in 2009. Bryan continues to give back to the farmers by awarding college scholarships to students from farming families who are attending the local college or university near the tour stops.

To date, 83 college scholarships have been granted.

'American Idol' Judge Luke Bryan Announces Farm Tour 2024 Dates

Two new farms have made the cut!

preview for Luke Bryan | Vs. The Internet

Luke Bryan fans, it’s that time again!

“Time to get your boots and those farmer’s tans ready y’all,” he captioned a post announcing the Farm Tour 2024 dates: September 21, 26, 27, and 28.

This year’s Farm Tour is taking Luke and his crew—as well as special musical guests Conner Smith and Tucker Wetmore—to two brand-new stops: Huggins Store in Marshville, North Carolina, and Cunningham Family Farm in Smithton, Pennsylvania, as well as to Mulberry Orchard in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Miller Family Farm in Millersport, Ohio. Two more tour dates will be announced soon.

Per usual, Luke's fans are stoked to have fun in a field this fall. "You’re finally bringing the farm tour to NC!!!! Yay," one fan commented on his post. "We will be ready for you!!🤠❤️ Can’t wait," someone else exclaimed. "I live in Marshville, this is going to be an epic day. Randy Travis Music Festival and Luke Bryan on the same day," someone else marveled.

Back in 2023, Luke, the son of a peanut farmer, shed a little light on the reason behind his Farm Tours.

“One of the reasons we created these Farm Tour shows—to bring the big-city tour to the people," he revealed in a statement. "These nights are one-of-a-kind, and we really enjoy getting to know the farmers and their families, love the whole atmosphere of playing on these incredible farms and watching entire communities come together and get excited about these shows."

It’s not solely about the music, though. Luke donates college scholarships to farming family students enrolled in the town’s local college or university on each Farm Tour stop. Since the tour’s inception in 2009, he has awarded 83 college scholarships to students with a connection to the tour stops.

But that’s not all. Luke also urges his fans to flock to social media to share #HeresToTheFarmer. For each mention, Bayer (the Farm Tour partner since 2015) donates a meal to someone in need via Feeding America. Since they began working together, Luke and Bayer have donated over 8 million meals. (Psst: You can get in on the giveback fun by sharing on your socials now through October 31.)

Now the only question is: Which farm will you be visiting this fall?

Farm life: Meet local growers at 16th Annual Farm Tour

the farm tour 2023

Michael Dorminy was working as a warehouse logistics manager in Tallahassee when the pandemic hit. At the time, he and his wife, Jena, were raising their four young children in the Lake Jackson area.

They had regularly visited the Tallahassee Farmers’ Market and were inspired to raise some backyard chickens of their own. Soon, they wanted to take their goal for fresh food and country living to another level.

“We decided it was time to make a change,” Dorminy said. “We dreamed of having some land. And we wanted the kids to have this lifestyle.”

That lifestyle is “in an environment where they understood the importance of the food that we eat, and the lives that those animals lived,” Dorminy said.

To make that happen, Dorminy quit his job. Jena kept her position with the state Department of Revenue, working remotely. They sold their house, moved to Havana and became first-generation farmers.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

“What’s more local than gathering eggs from your own backyard?” Dorminy said.

You can get a chance to meet the Dorminys, those chickens and other animals while visiting La Petite Ferme during the 16th annual Farm Tour , being held Oct. 14-15, a chance to meet the people who grow our food and see how it’s done.

Now, the couple and their children are surrounded by turkeys, chickens, pigs, milk goats, sheep and the kids’ pet rabbits on their six-acre farm, which they’ve dubbed La Petite Ferme (The Little Farm).

They sell their turkeys and chicken for meat and eggs, primarily through the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance online market. Their chicken guard dog, a Great Pyrenees named Soleil, helps guard the flocks. The birds are raised in shaded woods and on pasture lands, rotated seasonally.

“The chickens aren’t cooped up in a warehouse,” Dorminy said. “They can walk around being chickens.”

Meet farmers 'face-to-face'

During the free event, farms, ranches, apiaries and groves in North Central Florida and South Central Georgia will open their doors to the community.

This is the first farm tour for La Petite Ferme, among the 38 destinations on this year’s tour.

“We’d like for people to find out about us,” said Dorminy, who was born and raised in Belgium – hence the French names. “Customers can meet us face-to-face and see the place they’re buying from.”

The event is also an opportunity to find out what it takes to run a farm.

“Maybe they’re a young family and have the same ambition we had,” Dorminy said. “They can see how to farm on a small number of acres.”

Fun activities on the tour

Education and fun activities go hand in hand during the Farm Tour. Here are some of the many highlights:

  • Learn about the historic tradition of making cane syrup at Tallahassee’s Turkey Hill Farm.
  • U-Pick in a pumpkin patch and U-pick flowers at Moccasin Grove in Tallahassee. The farm, which offers varied U-Picks during the year, is a newcomer to the Farm Tour.
  • Find out about methods like aquaponics, hydroponics and raised beds to grow vegetables, flowers and fish at Bluefish Greenhouse Aquaponics, which has three, 3,000-square foot greenhouses in Cairo, Ga. Martin’s Harvest is another place to learn about hydroponic farming and to check out their farm-to-table meals.
  • Visit a working dairy. Arrive at Cindale Farms in Marianna before noon to see the cows milked. Stop by their award-winning dairy, Southern Craft Creamery & Market, to try their ice cream and other farm-to-table products.
  • See how an organic farm works at the Artzi Organic Veggies/Pita Queen property in Thomasville. They’ll be selling their vegetables, baked goods and terrific falafels.
  • Stop by the new facility to rescue livestock or farm animals, run by Redemptive Love Rescue. In some hardships, for instance, a farmer may buy animals they can’t care for anymore. The rescue group is a separate organization from Redemptive Love Farm.
  • Get a tour of Johnston’s Old-Fashioned Meat Market, the patron sponsor of 2023, and sample smoked meats and sandwiches.
  • Take a hay ride through the citrus groves at Florida-Georgia Citrus in Monticello.
  • Explore the organic farm and the store at Orchard Pond Organics.

'A great family weekend'

Kiona and Chris Wagner’s Rocky Soil Family Farm, along with other vendors, will be featuring seasonal crops. Wagner is a chef who bakes homemade sourdough breads and spätzle.

“The Farm Tour is a great family weekend,” said Majken Peterzen, executive director of Millstone Institute for Preservation, which has been the Farm Tour host since 2016.

“Our quest is to get people to come out to meet the farmers and for the farmers to meet the people,” Peterzen said. “Seeing how food is produced really encourages people to shop local.”

The tour also helps farmers develop new markets, she said.

Like the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance and the Red Hills Online Market, the Farm Tour “enables the public to see that our farms, no matter the size, are a valuable and important resource,” said Louise Devine, owner and operator of Turkey Hill Farm with husband Herman Holley. “It helps to connect the community with local farms and artisans.”

She recalls the visit of a young man who said he was inspired to become a farm volunteer after going on a farm tour when he was a kid.

“Now he’s in a Ph.D. program for soil science,” Devine said.

Devine got the idea for a farm tour after coming across one during a trip to North Carolina in 2006.

“I thought this was awesome,” she said. “I pitched the idea to New Leaf Market, and they said ‘Let’s do it.’ ”

Cane syrup demonstration

New Leaf, which later closed, ran the tour for several years before Millstone took it over.

Louise, Herman and their son, Reuben, will be showcasing the historic tradition of making cane syrup at their Turkey Hill Farm. Visitors can watch at least some of the day-long process, which she calls “an old-timey skill.”

Spreading knowledge about the numerous local talents among the region’s farmers is good for everyone, said Kelly Cogswell, who owns Paradise Found Farms with his wife, Chris. This is the fourth year that Paradise Found Farms has participated in the tour.

Kelly was working in the automotive retail business and Chris was a financial analyst when they developed health problems.

One major change the doctor suggested was eating more wholesome foods. The couple began raising chickens, then ducks and turkeys. As their operation grew, they turned eight acres of land into Paradise Found Farms on Jefferson Road in Tallahassee.

They now provide their free-range eggs and poultry to customers, primarily through the Tallahassee Farmers Market.

All these venues make a difference, Cogswell said.

“Knowing where your food comes from, that’s the most important thing, and knowing the people who are producing it for you.”

Tips for the Farm Tour

First, read the Farm Tour booklet, which has a thorough guide to all the places you can visit on the tour. Pay close attention to the days and hours the farms are open for visitors and times for workshops and classes. You can download the guide at https://tinyurl.com/2ths262t or check local nurseries or markets for a copy.

For questions, contact [email protected] or call 850-294-3918.

Don’t bring pets but do carry suntan lotion, bug spray, water, a tote bag and cash in case the farm doesn’t take credit cards.

Bring a cooler if you intend to buy meat or produce.

Don’t feed farm animals without permission.

Luke Bryan fans, it’s that time again!

Good Housekeeping’s 2023 Best Bedding Awards: Pillows

The country music star is once again taking his talents to the farm with his fall tour.

Unwind with Fanny Lumsden: How the musician decompresses after a tour and finds moments of calm

feel good Unwind with Fanny Lumsden: How the musician decompresses after a tour and finds moments of calm

Singer Fanny Lumsden poses with a watering can outside a greenhouse while on tour in the UK.

Country music singer-songwriter Fanny Lumsden has just wrapped up a tour for her new album Hey Dawn and is embracing a period of unwinding.

"It's such an adrenaline-based job with very little sleep, so I need to calm everything down for a week or so when I finish a tour and just do the bare necessities."

Living remotely on a farm in New South Wales with her husband and two kids, she prefers to spend time at home decompressing rather than going on a holiday — as she points out, "Going on a holiday means you have to organise it!"

Fanny shares how she does away with the concept of work-life balance and instead embraces life's blurry bits.

Unwind with... is a weekly column that explores the simple ways people take care of themselves.

My favourite place to unwind is…

At home. It makes a huge difference to my mental health living in the country and being able to see an expanse of space.

If I'm not at home, I'll try to make time to go for a walk or even just a drive to somewhere so I can get a view of rolling hills and country.

It helps me feel small so I can find perspective on my worries and stay grounded.

Singer Fanny Lumsden rides a horse with a companion in the late afternoon, with mountains in the distance.

My preferred way to unwind from a busy period is…

The first few days [after a tour ends] are complete decompression — usually there is an intention of doing a workout or yoga, but I usually just sit on my yoga mat and play with my kids. Sleep is really important, but can be really hard with two little kids waking up all the time while we are on tour, so I'm trying to prioritise that now.

Then I'll start going for walks and exercising, do cattle work on the farm, gardening and start finding the floor of my house, which will be covered in mess from the touring period!

A small joy in my life is…

A cup of tea first thing in the morning, usually outside even if it's cold. Whatever I'm doing, I always try to figure out a way to do it outside — I'll take my laptop outside, I'll fold washing outside. It's so beautiful and calm and I find that very grounding.

To find balance having small children while working and touring…

Singer Fanny Lumsden swimming in a river in regional NSW, accompanying her child in floaties. Both wearing sun hats.

I have to accept that there is no separation — I find a way to do it while they're running around. I'm on my laptop, I'm also with my kids, I'm at one with chaos!

It's a personal choice I make because I know I would be super stressed if I tried to create a perfect separation. And so, for me, having everything quite blurred is helpful.

I'm currently loving…

I'm reading the book This is Happiness by Niall Williams. If I'm stressed, I usually read adventure books because there is something comforting about reading about how someone persisted with something.

I also love watching travel and food documentaries to decompress. Recently, Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones on Netflix has been brilliant. However, I always go back to anything with Anthony Bourdain.

Something I'm getting better at…

I give a lot emotionally and physically as part of my job, and there's no line between me as an artist and as a person. I'm trying to get better at stopping so I can take it all in to give again.

When I've burnt-out before, it's because I didn't recognise I needed to stop and rest if I wanted to keep going to term. I'm trying to be smarter about it this time and recognise that we don't need to constantly go, go, go. Creativity needs space to unwind, too.

Singer Fanny Lumsden driving near her property with her child in the passenger seat, both wearing straw hats.

A piece of advice I often turn to…

Just try and enjoy it all where you can. Everything happens at once — the good, the bad, the scary, exciting — so I'm just trying to enjoy the little moments.

Where is Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm and can the public visit?

Jeremy Clarkson in Clarkson's Farm

Jeremy Clarkson is back for season 3 of hit series Clarkson’s Farm this week.

The former  Top Gear  star, 63,  swapped fast cars for farming  in recent years,  with cameras following his efforts  after purchasing land in the Cotswolds and establishing his Diddly Squat farm.

The show has been a massive hit for the streaming service Amazon Prime , with the latest season now available to watch.

This time around Jeremy, along with newly-minted farm manager Kaleb Cooper face plenty more challenges, including the death of some beloved animals , attacks by others and even an infestation of…mushrooms.

It’s now been three years since the series first hit screens and since the Diddly Squat Farm Shop has been established, fans have flocked to Chipping Norton to visit.

If you are one of the people planning a road trip soon, here’s everything you need to know about visiting.

Where is Diddly Squat Farm located?

Jeremy Clarkson on Clarkson's Farm

Jeremy Clarkson’s pride and joy – Diddly Squat Farm – is located in the heart of the C otswolds , in Oxfordshire.

Its address is 5-12 Chipping Norton Road, Chadlington, Chipping Norton, OX7 3PE .

That’s around two hours by car from central London, one hour and 20 minutes from Birmingham, and an hour and a half from Bristol.

Oxford is the closest big city, being just 40 minutes away by road.

Is Diddly Squat Farm open to the public?

The Diddly Squat Farm Shop sign

Jeremy’s rural retreat now boasts two attractions open to the public – the Diddly Squat Farm Shop and The Big View Café.

According to the official website , the shop (described as a ‘Cotswolds-based emporium of edible delights. And potatoes’) promises to stock ‘no-nonsense things’ that the public will like.

Items available to buy include clothing like caps, socks, T-shirts and jumpers, as well as candles and soaps.

For those looking to pick up something to try at home, there’s also honey, coffee, jams and honey.

The Big View Café boasts ‘incredible food’, the ‘best hamburgers in the world’ and a full bar, which will stock Jeremy’s own Hawkstone lager.

It is open from 9.30am-4.30pm Wednesdays to Sundays, as well as on Bank Holidays.

You can also order many of its products online for worldwide delivery.

It was also recently announced Amazon Fresh is also now stocking items from the shop.

What do we know about season 3 of Clarkson’s Farm?

Although there were concerns that Clarkson’s Farm might be cancelled after Jeremy wrote a column taking aim at Meghan Markle last year, Amazon later confirmed the show would be returning.

Last month the trailer was released , which began with a clip showing Jeremy being warned by the local council that he had to shut down the restaurant he had opened on the farm.

After deciding to also introduce pigs on the farm, a rollercoaster of emotions ensues, with Jeremy finding pig vomit in his jacket at one point, and watching two in action when breeding but then facing piglets dying in ‘alarming numbers’.

At another point, the stars of the show are forced to wear face masks as they enter a room filled with enormous mushrooms.

Part one has now been released and will be followed by part two next Friday with each batch consisting of four episodes

Clarkson’s Farm is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
