22 developmental projects cleared to boost pilgrimage tourism in Mathura

To boost pilgrimage tourism in Mathura, the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (Braj Pilgrimage Development Council) has cleared 22 projects to develop infrastructure in the district, an official said on Friday.

Initially, the focus will be on projects involving development of Gokul, Nandgaon, Barsana, Vrindaban and Mathura, Chief Executive Officer of Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad Nagendra Pratap said.

"Green signal has been given to 22 projects at a cost of Rs 4232 lakh by the district level committee chaired by Shailjakant Mishra, Vice President of Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad," Pratap said.

Braj also known as Brij or Brijbhoomi, is a region mainly around Mathura-Vrindavan and is considered to be the land of Lord Krishna. The area stretches from Mathura, Jalesar, Agra, Hathras and Aligarh to Etah, Mainpuri and Farrukhabad districts.

In Gokul, the projects include setting up a tourist facilitation centre at a cost of Rs 393.55 lakh, construction of a new ghat and beautification of Holi chabutara (platform) at a cost of Rs 226.64 lakh, he said.

Pratap said around Rs 217 lakh will be spent on th renovation of Brambhand ghat in Gokul and other ghats in Chintaharan Mahadeo Mahaban too will be refurbished for Rs 121.36 lakh.

An ambitious plan for the facelift of Nandgaon includes setting up of tourist facilitation centres, building toilet blocks and beautification of roads among others, he said.

Solar lights will be put up on Kosi Kokilavan road and the Kokilavan Parikrama road to ease pilgrimage to Shani temple situated in the town, Pratap said.

Pratap said he is expecting a boost in influx of domestic as well as international tourists in the district after the completion of all the projects.

A tourist facilitation centre is expected to come up at Mathura Junction railway station with the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad agreeing to bear the expenses, BJP MP Hema Malini said on Sunday. Speaking with a group of reporters via video-link, the Mathura Lok Sabha member said, "A tourist facilitation centre outside Gate No. 2 of Mathura Junction would add value to passenger amenities at the railway station." The centre would be equipped with a Sulabh toilet facility, a counter for assistance and providing information to passengers, facilities for room stay at low rates, among others, Malini said. Advt Shailja Kant Mishra, Vice Chairperson of UP Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, had agreed to bear the cost for the proposed centre, the politician-turned-actress added. The proposal is awaiting clearance from the Railway Board, she said. If the land is provided by the railways, then, the centre would be handed over to the railway authorities after construction, the 71-year-old said. "As the railway station is the gateway to any city, my focus is to get Mathura Junction equipped with maximum facilities for bringing in tourists," she added. Mathura has immense tourism potential in spiritually, sports and trekking, she said. "If we can attract international tourists, it would open the gates for employment here," Malini added. A proposal for renovation of Braj Vatika at platform No. 7 with enhanced facilities has also been sent to North Central Railway authorities. On the MP's suggestion, the North Central Railway has in principle agreed to provide a reverse osmosis (RO) plant for drinking water at Gate No 1 to 3. The ubiquitous A H Wheeler bookstall at the station will be converted into a multi-purpose kiosk, the MP said. The railway authorities have approved emergency quota facility to help passengers in bulk booking on the Dehradun Express at the Mathura Junction , which is a scheduled stopping, she claimed, while adding that a proposal for change in the timings of Kosi Kalan shuttle service has also been sent to authorities. Advt During her first term, the lawmaker had released Rs 25 lakh from her MPLADS fund for installing 100 steel benches in the railway station.

Tourist Facilitation Center to be established at Nandgaon

2022.12.09 (Vrindavan Today News): The Government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to provide facility to the pilgrims and tourists during their visit to Nandgaon. It has approved the required budget suggested by the U.P. Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad to establish a Tourist Facilitation Center at Nandgaon.

The UPBTVP has been working relentlessly to develop the tourist infrastructure and upgrade the facilities for the tourists visiting Braj. There has not been any place in Nandgaon where the tourists could stay in the night. The visitors come back to Vrindavan or Mathura after visiting Nandgaon and Barsana. According to Shri Nagendra Pratap, the CEO of the UPBTVP, the Tourist Facilitation Centre at Nandgaon will ease the pressure on Mathura – Vrindavan and provide job opportunities in the Nandgaon area.

It should be noted that the UPBTVP has already established a Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Vrindavan, which has been functioning for some years. The UPBTVP is also set to establish the Tourist Facility Centers (TFC) at Govardhan, Barsana, Gokul and Baldev areas of Braj.

Tourist Facilitation Centre virtually inaugurated at Guruvayur

Union Minister of State for Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel, on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the Tourist Facilitation Centre facility constructed under the project Development of Guruvayur, Kerala, under the PRASHAD Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism through a virtual platform.

Patel praised the state government for the optimum use of the funds released by the Government of India for creating the facilities of international standards. He also assured the state government of every cooperation and support required from his ministry.

The national mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) was launched by the Ministry of Tourism with the objective of integrated development of identified pilgrimage and heritage destinations.
