Back for his final outing as the Travel Man, Richard Ayoade dashes to Dubrovnik with comedy colossus Stephen Merchant.
Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Lou Sanders for a two-day blast around Bergen. They explore the mountains and fjords that surround it, as well as sampling the best that this Norwegian city has to offer.
Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Joe Wilkinson for a 48-hour fling around the historic city of Krakow.
Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Ellie Taylor for a 2-day meander around Madrid, following an itinerary rich in art, ham, history and histrionics.
Richard Ayoade returns to provide much needed guidance and inspiration to would-be mini-breakers. This time, Richard is joined by comedian Lee Mack for a funny, yet surprisingly informative, 48 hours in Brussels - featuring culture, comics, pralines, puppets and attractions both large and small, including the Grand Place and the famous atom-shaped Atomium. There's also waffles, mussels - including Moules Genghis Khan - and the secrets of chocolate making.
Richard is joined by actor Fay Ripley for a wintry mini-break in Oslo. Together they pack two days with sledging, screaming, skiing, sculpture and scoff.
Richard Ayoade is joined by comic actor and writer Robert Webb - the destination Madeira. Together they seek to discover more than the Portuguese island's eponymous wine and cake, although both are sampled along the way. Madeira is famed for its bananas and for the culinary bravado of combining them with fish.
Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Shazia Mirza for a fancy two day detour on the Côte d'Azur, in the south of France. In Nice they hire a three-wheeled 'Nice Car' for a scenic tour of the city. They also scope out Cap Ferrat, blue art, fancy yachts, and a grotto in Monaco. Later, there's a pricey helicopter ride and a trip to the casino - in a bid to win back the budget overspend on the helicopter.
In an hour-long Christmas extravaganza, Richard and Mad Men actor Jon Hamm tour Hong Kong, taking in a tai chi drop-in session, a ride in a chopper and some fusion dim sum.
Richard is joined by Matt Lucas, actor, comedian and many other things besides, for a frenetic 48 hours in the eternal city, Rome. Over a packed duo of days they cram in culture, cuisine, history, hats and as many sights as they can see.
Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Sara Pascoe for a two day test of the mini break merits of Valencia. Together they ruthlessly examine Spain's third largest city, taking in its history, parks, architecture, culture and cuisine, as well as falling under the powerful spell of local cocktail agua de Valencia.
Richard Ayoade and comedian Joe Lycett head to the mini break mecca of Amsterdam for a 48 hour hurtle through the city's attractions. In just two days the pair power through culture, cardio, canals, cuisine and much more, not all of it beginning with a 'c'.
Richard Ayoade and actress Sally Phillips head to Stockholm for a fulsome 48 hours in the Swedish capital. Together they scale rooftops, sing Abba, eat Swedish-Danish, and stay up late playing on their phones.
Comedian Rob Beckett joins Richard Ayoade in Russia's cultural capital, for a post-Soviet itinerary including an armoured tank, caviar, vodka, and a herring in a fur coat.
Richard and comedian Aisling Bea make a whirlwind tour of Hungary's fairy-tale capital, with selfies, goulash, cake, pubs, liquor, and a game of chess at the thermal baths.
Richard Ayoade packs his case and heads to the Canaries to discover what lies beyond the all-inclusive resorts of the volcanic island of Tenerife. Making the trip from LA to join him is writer, director and actor, Lena Dunham.
Richard and Rhod Gilbert's high-speed visit to Florida's famous hot spot takes in art, art deco, alligators, speedboats, an airboat tour of the everglades - and dominoes.
Hollywood actor Rebel Wilson joins Richard for a fun-packed whizz round Florence in a mini-break mixing art, action, gelato, a drive in a classic Alfa Romeo, and some tripe.
Richard and comedian Katherine Ryan take a fast and funny trip to New York. Their overflowing schedule includes skyscrapers, roller blades, museums, ferries, show-tunes and cronuts.
Hollywood actor Paul Rudd joins Richard to discover Finland's seaside capital, with a time-efficient exploration by kayak, a good steaming in the city's saunas and salty sweets.
Actor and comedian Adam Buxton joins Richard for a high-speed tour of Portugal's capital, with trams, rickshaw, funicular and fado, and a visit to a doll hospital.
Watch Richard and Jack Dee take a trip to Naples featuring humor, history, culture, pizza, Vespas and chaotic traffic, a trip to Capri, and a guide to the meaning of dreams.
Richard goes to Vienna with comedian Chris O'Dowd to sample the sausages, cakes, wines and spirits. The pair also take a hot-rod tour, visit a fairground, the Freud museum and the city sewers.
Richard Ayoade and Mel Giedroyc do a Paris le weekend, with snails, absinthe, a cordon bleu cookery course, bespoke perfume and an art tour.
Comedian Noel Fielding joins Richard for 48 fast and funny hours in the Danish capital, with cycling, sightseeing, art, sandwiches, beer and rollercoasters.
Richard and Greg Davies attempt to extract the essence of Moscow in two days, as they clash with army tanks, head into space and visit one of the strangest circuses in the world.
Richard Ayoade heads to southern Spain with comedian Rob Delaney from Catastrophe, where they eat tapas, learn to dance flamenco and go a bit Wild West.
Richard and Jo Brand do a fast, funny and ruthlessly efficient trip to Venice, learning to row a gondola, sampling Venetian tapas, and staying at the famous Hotel Danieli.
Richard stretches the description mini break to the limit as he heads to the United Arab Emirates for a luxury bonanza with comedian Johnny Vegas.
Richard heads for super-cool Berlin with comedian Roisin Conaty, taking in the city's famed nightlife, Checkpoint Charlie, fancy food, and a replica Cold War apartment.

Richard and actor Stephen Mangan eat steamed sheep's head and go hot air ballooning and camel riding on a quickie weekend trip in Morocco.
'Travel Man' in Barcelona: Channel 4 Sacrifices a Great Idea on the Altar of Cheap Laughs
Actor, writer, columnist, global blogger.
Barcelona is a city I love and have visited frequently, which explains the enthusiasm I felt for this Travel Man series opener - and also my deep sense of frustration and annoyance, having endured an hour of irritating ego-tripping and hopefully-funny silliness masquerading as an informative travel programme. Never have I started to watch a TV offering with a greater sense of anticipatory relish - only to end up feeling I'd have been better employed and more fulfilled eating a plateful of dried locusts.
The two presenters - Richard Ayoade and Kathy Burke - promised much initially, but fell woefully short of their supposed brief. This was, ostensibly, to sum up the attractions of a vibrant and wonderful city and maybe have a few laughs along the way. Ayoade, best-known (though not by me) as a star in comedy The IT Crowd and presenter of gadget show Gadget Man , was culprit in chief for what I count as this show's failure. The premise in Travel Man is that "Richard hates travel and holidays - so what will he make of 48 hours away from home?" Sadly, all else was subordinate to this contrived central message, which Aoyade proceeded relentlessly to hammer home in the most unsubtle way imaginable. It was my first taste of his - for want of a better word - style; I shall not be putting myself out to repeat the experience.
From early in the piece, it was clear that Travel Man was to be the vehicle whereby Ayoade might reach a wider audience and give them the benefit of what he fondly imagines is his laconic and laid-back presentational personality. The dreaded "comedy voice" was a frequent intruder into his narrative; that annoying way of introducing ironic quotation marks by vocal inflection, so that the listener will (hopefully) be inescapably aware that here is a windswept and interesting cynic with an edgy and alternative view on pretty much everything he sees. Some people can carry this off and even make some decent entertainment out of it; Ayoade, on this depressing evidence, patently can't.
In contrast to my zero prior knowledge of Ayoade, Kathy Burke is a performer I've always liked and rated - but here, she was drawn into a teeth-curling attempt to create an unlikely comic double-act. Everything of substance was sacrificed in the effort to get as much ironic comedy as possible - frankly, not a lot - out of this incongruous pairing. Whatever the lure of Barcelona's many and varied points of interest, it all had to be about Richard Ayoade and his reactions to whatever he saw; a self-indulgent and subjective take on each too-hurried item with the twitchily uncomfortable Ms Burke doing her best to play up to her colleague's self-adoration.
Thus, in the interests of establishing the desired laugh-a-minute feel to the thing, there was an awkward "Ooh, we have to share a hotel suite" moment with Ms Burke seeming to fear some unlikely molestation from her clearly aloof partner in crime; then there was some cringe-worthy banter at the Nou Camp football stadium, magnificent home of CF Barcelona - where Ayoade was at some pains to demonstrate his effete apathy towards the Beautiful Game - and next some frankly repulsive emetic slapstick in a restaurant, to the bemusement of the admirably patient, polite and professional staff. Burke is a highly capable performer, but she was rather dragged down to the level of her colleague, who was clearly preoccupied with projecting his individual personality over the whole undertaking.
Thus, where we might have been treated to Barcelona's panoply of vivid beauty and unique art, we had instead a series of laboriously ponderous set-ups culminating in yet another of Ayoade's hopefully-cutting one-liners - drawled and mannered punchlines that invariably failed to be even a fraction as devastating as they were clearly intended to be. It was bitterly disappointing fare, and Burke did well to hide the embarrassment she must surely have felt. Perhaps she will reflect that, as an accomplished comedienne, she should not be wasting her time playing stooge to a partner who should have stayed at home surrounded by his gadgets - rather than stepping so far out of that comfort zone into the pitiless and unforgiving arena of comedy.
The victim in all of this squalid waste of time and opportunity - apart from the hapless viewer, sat there seething, all hopes dashed - is of course the city of Barcelona itself. A feature-length programme could hardly do justice to its many attractions: the beauty and individuality of its Gaudi-dominated architecture; the culture that shines dazzlingly out of every sunlit surface; the cuisine, the sport, the history. It's all there in one precious jewel of a city, just waiting to be described and marvelled over. But, disgracefully, we got none of that - in fact it is sadly fair to say that by far the most informative aspects of the whole production were the occasional graphics which flashed up, telling us the price of this or that and highlighting one or other sight worth seeing. Meanwhile, Ayoade and Burke were tenaciously flogging away at the dead horse of their joint comedic potential; it was grisly, unrewarding viewing.
What we did learn is that Richard Ayoade loves Richard Ayoade, and is keen to share that passion with a broader interest group than his usual audience of geeks - but that he is guilty of the cardinal sin of any wannabe comedian: that of forgetting to be funny. And we also learned that Kathy Burke, when handed lemons, will do her solid best to make lemonade, bless her. On this occasion, though, she should have thrown those lemons at her partner's smug countenance - and hopped straight back on the train home. If she had - then maybe I and doubtless thousands of others might have been spared the empty disappointment felt after such a production, one that could have achieved so much, yet ended up delivering nothing but smouldering resentment. The knowledge that there went an hour of my life that I'm never going to get back left me wondering what the effortlessly authoritative Michael Portillo might have done with such a nugget of a travel show idea. He could not, let's face it, have been worse - and you just know that he'd have been far, far better - by an order of several hundred magnitudes.
This series will tragically continue with what we might dolefully expect to be a similar treatment of Istanbul , but it won't have me for company. My advice is to stay at home instead of being tempted to go along for the ride and, with all due deference to Richard Ayoade's forcefully-professed and overtly squeamish dislike of muddied oafs - see if there's any football on.

Man Claims to Have Caught 'Time Traveler' Using His Shed in Wild Video
Alleged 'time traveler' fl man sneaks into shed comes out way older day later.
One guy claims to have captured a real-life Marty McFly on camera at his Florida Airbnb -- posting a video that certainly seems to suggest time travel is real ... if you buy this, that is.
A dude named Alec Schaal posted a series of videos this week that has the internet equally mesmerized and stumped -- because it shows what appears to be a dude sneaking onto his property, going into a shed ... and coming out a day later looking way different.
By that, we mean the man purported to be a "time traveler" emerges several years older.
Take a look and you'll see what we mean. Alec says he's got a home in Florida that he rents out as an Airbnb -- and there's a security camera system that alerts him to activity when he's not there. He got pinged to some movement, and says he saw something incredible.
Check it out ... the video appears to show a random young dude wandering onto Alec's property off the street and he moseys around aimlessly before popping into a shed, seemingly for no reason. Alec calls the cops, who come to check it out -- but can't find the guy in there ... even though you never actually see him leave the space. A day later, a big update.
Alec posted footage that seems to show a totally different person exiting the shed out of nowhere -- only this man is elderly ... although, he looks awfully familiar, at least to Alec.
Long story short ... Alec thinks he's got a time traveler on his hands -- and he insists there's no trickery or pranks afoot on his end. Some believe it, others are a bit more incredulous.
Alec says there are no tunnels in his shed, and he's going to the house soon to inspect what could possibly explain this. On its face, however ... you could call it 'Back to the Future,'-ish.

Man City pre-season 2024/25: Fixtures and schedule
- Manchester City are set for another pre-season under Pep Guardiola
- Cityzens are still fighting for silverware in this season
- Current world champions will travel to North America as part of their 2024/25 pre-season
By Ewan Ross-Murray | May 2, 2024
Manchester City will be hopeful of heading into the 2024/25 season with a few more trophies in their cabinet.
Pep Guardiola's side are still fighting for a record-breaking fourth successive Premier League title and they will also contest this season's FA Cup final with local rivals Manchester United. After Champions League disappointment at the hands of Real Madrid, Man City will be desperate for redemption in the final few weeks of the campaign.
Therefore, Man City won't be able to cast an eye to next season just yet, although the club do have a busy 2024/25 pre-season schedule already lined up.
Here are Man City's pre-season plans so far.
Where are Man City going for 2024/25 pre-season?
We’re heading to the USA on our pre-season tour this summer! 🇺🇸🩵 Everything you need to know ⤵️ — Manchester City (@ManCity) March 19, 2024
Man City are joining the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd by jetting off to the United States for the bulk of their pre-season. Their tour begins with a clash against Celtic on 23 July and the Cityzens will play another three matches in North America over the summer period.
It remains to be seen whether or not Man City organise any more pre-season friendlies, with Guardiola never keen to bloat the schedule in the build up to a new campaign. However, there is a good chance they will be involved in the Community Shield on 6 August and will play in the curtain-raiser at Wembley should they win the league or FA Cup this term.
Man City pre-season 2024/25 confirmed schedule
Man City's American tour starts with a clash against Scottish giants Celtic on 23 July in North Carolina, with the fixture's kick-off time - as is the case with all Man City's friendlies - yet to be confirmed.
Guardiola's men then face a battle with Milan at the Yankee Stadium in New York four days later, before the Spanish coach faces his former side Barcelona in Orlando at the end of July.
A team Man City are very familiar with from the 2023/24 season, their final pre-season clash comes against Premier League foes Chelsea in Ohio. The encounter will take place on 3 August - three days before a potential Community Shield match-up.
How to watch Man City 2024/25 pre-season
Man City are yet to announce how supporters can tune into 2024/25 pre-season, simply stating on the club's website: "Television broadcast information will be announced at a later date."
However, they have confirmed the official Man City app and CITY+ will keep fans up to date with the latest pre-season news and coverage.
