Disney Plus is packed with tons of documentaries, movies, and shows for your streaming entertainment.

The content comes from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, ESPN, and National Geographic.

That’s right! There’s no need to subscribe to cable just to get the Nat Geo Wild or National Geographic channel, anymore.

You can get much of the same great National Geographic content right on Disney+!

Let’s take a look at the best National Geographic shows on Disney Plus that you can stream today.

Brain Games

Photo of a group of adults playing a game with a giant inflatable hamster wheel like ball on the Nat Geo show, Brain Games.

This interactive show feels like part game show, part science experiment, and part comedy special.

Host Jason Silva takes viewers through a series of challenges designed to test brainpower and reveal how your mind works.

While the original series was cut short, a spin off was created for Disney+ that takes the show on the road, Brain Games: On the Road .

Cosmos: Possible Worlds

Promotional photo of Neil Degrasse Tyson.

Host Neil deGrasse Tyson guides viewers as we discover new worlds and explore our own planet from a fresh perspective in Cosmos: Possible Worlds .

This thrilling science-fiction adventure explores humanity’s relationship with nature and technology, taking us through time and space on an epic journey like no other.

Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet

Photo of wildlife veterinarian Dr. Michelle Oakley examining a sedated bison.

Dr. Michelle Oakley is the star of National Geographic’s Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet .

In this show, viewers get to see her daily adventures as a veterinarian in remote regions of Canada’s Yukon Territory.

Each episode showcases Dr. Oakley’s medical expertise and ability to care for a variety of animals in some pretty challenging environments.

My favorite part of this show is that the remote location brings some unique animals to the screen, such as Arctic fox, beluga whales, grizzly bears, and musk oxen.

Edge of the Unknown with Jimmy Chin

Portrait photo of adventurer Jimmy Chin.

National Geographic’s Edge of the Unknown with Jimmy Chin is one of the most captivating shows out there.

From crossing treacherous landscapes to discovering new cultures, no adventure is too daunting for Chin and his fellow adventurers.

Along the way, he calls attention to pressing social and environmental issues, showing us how we can save this planet that we all call home.

Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory

Promotional poster for the National Geographic show on Disney+, Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory.

Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory is a Nat Geo show hosted by wildlife photographer and adventurer Bertie Gregory.

In this show, we follow Gregory as embarks on some epic adventures in order to photograph wildlife, like wolves in the Arctic Circle.

For animal lovers looking for an exciting and visually impactful show, Epic Adventures will definitely fit the bill.

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted

Still photo of Chef Gordon Ramsay from the set of his show, Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted, in Finland.

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted is an adventure series that takes the reality chef to remote locations around the world.

Ramsay visits each place to learn about the local cuisine, culture, and traditions by connecting with locals on a deep level. It’s a nice departure from his usual reality food shows!

Gordon’s approach toward exploration is filled with all the qualities you would expect from him, such as passion, enthusiasm, and determination.

At the end of each episode, Gordon celebrates his successes with mouth-watering creations that highlight distinct tastes from each region.

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted is definitely a departure from the angry persona you often get in Ramsay’s shows!

Home in the Wild (2023)

Follow explorers Jim and Tori Baird as they guide you through awe-inspiring wilderness locations across the globe in their docuseries, Home in the Wild .

Along for the ride are their sons Hudson and Wesley, who has a rare neurological disorder called FoxG1 Syndrome.

Despite juggling 2 kiddos, one with a rare disorder, the Bairds are determined to continue adventuring in the outdoors!

Hostile Planet

Promotional photo of Bear Grylls while filming his show, Hostile Planet, in the jungles of Panama.

Hostile Planet , hosted by Bear Grylls, tells the extraordinary stories of the most extreme environments and animals on the planet.

This gritty show focuses on how life survives in some of the world’s toughest places, from foraging for food to escaping predators.

It offers viewers a unique perspective on nature and showcases some of Earth’s least hospitable regions.

Hostile Planet is both educational and entertaining, making it a must-see series for anyone who wants to learn about nature’s never-ending battle for survival.

The Incredible Dr. Pol (2011-23)

Dr. Pol offers up a handful of food for an eager Friesian horse.

Dr. Pol is not your usual veterinarian. This central Michigan-based vet specializes in farm animals and large pets, like alpacas, cows, horses, and reindeer.

This vet and his furry patients are so captivating that there are 22 seasons and 4 specials available for your viewing pleasure.

In addition to the main show, available to stream on Disney+ are:

  • The Incredible Dr. Pol: Jingle Pols (2012)
  • Incredible! The Story of Dr. Pol (2015)
  • The Incredible Dr. Pol: Blue Ribbon Kids (2016)
  • The Incredible Dr. Pol: A 200th Polapalooza (2022)

Life Below Zero

A man (Jessie Holmes) builds a sauna on his property in Brushkana for his well being and sanitation on the reality show, Life Below Zero.

This gritty docuseries follows the lives of people living in remote areas of Alaska who must battle extreme weather conditions and dangerous wildlife in order to survive.

Through their incredible stories, we get a unique glimpse into how they live off the land and find ways to adapt to their harsh environment.

This Nat Geo show has proven so popular, that three spin offs are also available on Disney+:

  • Life Below Zero: Next Generation (2020-22)
  • Life Below Zero: Northern Territories (2021-22)
  • Life Below Zero: First Alaskans (2022-23)

Limitless with Chris Hemsworth (2022)

Promotional portrait photo of Chris Hemsworth on the set of his Disney+ show, Limitless.

Limitless with Chris Hemsworth , the exciting new series on National Geographic, has already proven to be quite the hit.

In this show, Hemsworth, who is perhaps best known as the actor that brought Thor to life in many Marvel movies and shows, embarks on a global journey to learn how people can live better, for longer.

Hemsworth’s experience on this show is also known as the reason he has decided to take a step back from his massive acting career to spend more time with his family ( source ).

Watch Limitless for an eye-opening look into how some of the world’s most innovative minds are transforming the human experience of aging.

Lost Cities with Albert Lin (2019)

Albert Lin posing at Machu Picchu.

Have you heard of Lost Cities with Albert Lin ? No, it’s not a new video game or a secret club (although that would be pretty cool).

It’s actually a fascinating National Geographic series that delves into some of the world’s most remote and mysterious ancient cities.

And who better to guide us through these lost territories than the intrepid Albert Lin? With his trusty high-tech gadgets and infectious enthusiasm, Lin takes us on a journey of discovery and adventure.

Also available to stream are the specials inspired by this series, Lost Cities with Albert Lin: The Great Flood and Lost Cities with Albert Lin: Megacity of the Maya Warrior King .

Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom (2020-23)

Promotional poster for the Disney+ and National Geographic show, Magic of DIsney's Animal Kingdom. Text at the top of the poster reads "Behind the scenes, beyond your imagination."

Have you ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes at Disney World? Well, get ready to have your curiosity satisfied with the Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom !

Narrated by the enchanting Josh Gad, voice of Olaf from Frozen , this series takes us on a wild ride through the different animal habitats and conservation efforts of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.

With jaw-dropping cinematography and insider access, you’re sure to feel like a VIP on this behind-the-scenes tour.

Never Say Never with Jeff Jenkins (2023)

Promotional poster for the new National Geographic show, Never Say Never with Jeff Jenkins.

I may be a bit biased, as Jeff is a friend of mine, but Never Say Never is an absolute must-watch.

Best known as the founder of The Chubby Diaries , Jenkins’ show is about exploring and finding out about incredible feats just waiting to be discovered.

Never Say Never reveals an array of daring attempts through both heart-warming and action-packed stories, teaching viewers to never limit their potential and never settle for what society tells them they can or cannot do.

This is one of those Nat Geo shows with adventure, life lessons, a charismatic host, and stunning footage. Definitely give it a watch!

Restaurants at the End of the World (2023

Chef Kristen Kish rappels down a waterfall to collect a type of fresh watercress which only grows in that particular location in Hacienda Mamecillo, Panama.

Adventurous chef Kristen Kish explores the world looking for the culture that has inspired the world’s most remote restaurants.

Running a successful business is a challenge and demands patience, but the people whose lives are cut off from the grid are at the top of the class.

Kish meets with some of these restaurant owners and chefs to find out how they accomplish such a hard feat.

Secrets of the Elephants (2023)

A family of elephants roam through Kimana Sanctuary.

This series takes viewers on a wild ride through the African savannah as it explores the lives of the gentle giants known as elephants.

Narrated by Natalie Portman and hosted by Dr. Paula Kahumbu, Secret of the Elephants teaches all about elephant society, their surprising intelligence, and the challenges they face in the modern world.

A Small Light (2023)

Photo of a scene starring Bel Powley as Miep Gies in the National Geographic show, A Small Light.

A Small Light takes us on a journey back to World War II, exploring the life of Miep Gies, the woman who helped protect Anne Frank and her family.

While the Nazis were wreaking havoc across Europe, Miep and the Dutch resistance worked together to save lives.

This show offers a fresh perspective on what it was really like to live through one of the darkest periods in world history.

Welcome to Earth

Promotional poster for the National Geographic show, Welcome to Earth, including a photo of the host, actor Will Smith.

Hosted by Will Smith, Welcome to Earth captures extraordinary moments and showcases the beauty of nature in all its diverse forms.

The show encourages viewers to appreciate the uniqueness of each place while also looking at homegrown solutions to global issues.

Welcome to Earth ‘s unique insights and amazing visuals make it a must-watch on Disney+.

Disney has pulled Nat Geo Wild from Spectrum! I am so upset with them. I pay a lot of money for my cable subscription and one show that is always at the top of my list is The Incredible Dr Pol. I have watched it for years and never get tired of it. Disney---be a good human being! Make Dr Pol Available!

Oh no! I heard there were some issues with Disney and Spectrum. I didn't realize they'd also pull their Nat Geo channels down. I know a few of the shows on NGW are on Disney+ as well as Hulu+Live TV, so if you happen to have either of those streaming services you might be able to still watch a few of your favorite shows.

Thursday 14th of September 2023

I am very disappointed, I have Disney+ and regular Hulu streaming services both subscription streaming services include the national geographic channel programs , that got me interested in several popular series Life Below Zero and Next Generation But both stop short of the newest seasons for both Since these are both paid subscription services I feel entitled to access to these programs disney+ is 3 seasons behind season showing 18 as current National Geographic is currently airing season 21 ,when I try to enter my provider to gain access , I am given a message , my providers plan doesn't include channel for Hulu and Disney+ isn't even listed SO FOR ME this seems unfair and honestly not worth the subscription cost

I see your point. If you're after specific shows and want to stay on top of the latest seasons, a regular cable package might be the way to go. That said, Hulu has all of the seasons of Life Below Zero and LBZ: Next Generation, although I think they are usually 1 episode behind. That's not too bad of a delay in my opinion. Plus, if you try to stream via nationalgeographic.com, Hulu is a provider option, although Disney+ is not. It might require a higher tier package, though.

Most avid travelers experienced a decline in their favorite hobby last year. But exciting adventures, new cuisine, and beautiful landscapes are still accessible to us all via our favorite travel shows. 1. Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy

Hulu, cnn on demand.

The Devil Wears Prada and Hunger Games actor takes on a new role as host, telling personal stories as he is joined by his wife and friends. Inspired by his own Italian heritage, Tucci is so passionate about his journey through the country and the food that he’s tasting, viewers will feel like they’re on the Amalfi Coast themselves. Season one is currently airing on CNN and available on Hulu . A second season has already been planned for 2022.

2. Down To Earth With Zac Efron

While Zac Efron’s adventure show may not be the ultimate in high-brow entertainment, the High School Musical star’s charisma and enthusiasm make Down to Earth an incredibly fun watch. The actor, joined by wellness guru Darin Olien, travels the globe, attempting to learn about sustainability and the environment. He also samples local cuisines and shamelessly indulges in the local tourist activities. All of season one is available now on Netflix, and filming for a second season has already begun.

3. Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted

Watch Gordon Ramsay travel the world, learning old-world methods of cooking from locals, in his new food-based travel show on Disney + . In Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted , viewers experience the chef abandoning his reputation as a loud, hyper-critical judge. Instead, he spends his time learning new techniques and trying new food, incredibly excited to be there and impressed by every meal he tries. Each episode features a new location and new group of welcoming locals excited to share the history of their food. There are two seasons available already, with season three set to air in mid-2021.

4. Our Planet

Narrated by David Attenborough, Netflix’s Our Planet offers an in-depth exploration of the world’s habitats, focusing on the effects of climate change and global warming. While the thesis of the documentary is science-based, the creators’ clear passion for nature shines through. The visuals are absolutely breathtaking, and the show itself is self-reflective and inspirational. With footage from 50 countries, episodes cover jungles, deserts, forests, and virtually every landscape imaginable, virtually guaranteeing a deep dive into any viewer’s favorite destination.

5. Taste The Nation With Padma Lakshmi

Explore the United States with Food Network personality Padma Lakshmi as she seeks to understand the connection between U.S. food and U.S. culture. Every episode features a different American city, where Lakshmi meets with immigrants from around the world, seeking to understand how the diversity of the country’s chefs has shaped what we define as American cuisine. This one-season series is a moving, emotional exploration of culture, heritage, and identity, available for streaming on Hulu .

6. Long Way Up

Reunited for their third joint travel adventure show, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman go on an ambitious motorcycle ride in Apple TV’s Long Way Up . Starting in Ushuaia, a city at the tip of South America, the two friends ride for more than 100 days and 13,000 miles, crossing borders and country lines, making their way into Argentina, Chile, and Peru, all the way up to Central America and Mexico. Fans of Long Way Round and Long Way Down will love this third installment, all of which is available for streaming.

7. Street Food

For another food-based travel show, try Netflix’s Street Food , and its two available seasons, Street Food: Asia and Street Food: Latin America . Each episode takes place in a different city, with interviews of three to four street food chefs and their featured dishes. This show takes a deep dive not only into the cuisine, but primarily into the people who make it, emphasizing the journey of the individual cooks. The featured dishes are often region-specific and emblematic of the conditions and circumstances of both the city and the chef. The show focuses on the vendors’ backstories, teaching viewers about local poverty, history, culture, and identity.

These are just a starting point; there are a lot more shows out there worth a look. All you have to do is go on a surf vacation from the comfort of your couch.

Editor’s Note: Can’t get enough virtual travel? Jordan Palmer has more on Beeyonder , the new travel company created so anyone can travel the world.

Greg Robertson has worked as an editor and writer for some of the top newspapers and websites in the country, leading him to live all across the country. He now calls Las Vegas home, but has journeyed from the sunshine of California and the rain in Seattle, to the humidity of Arkansas and the snow of Minnesota. His travels have taken him to Puerto Vallarta, Costa Rica, Spain, and the Dominican Republic, but he's happiest at home with his wife, two daughters, and dog.

‘Rogue Trip’ on Disney+: All the Info on National Geographic’s New Travel Show

National Geographic's Rogue Trip hosts Bob Woodruff and Mack Woodruff on boat

Where to Stream:

Disney+ is home to a whole lot of franchises—from Marvel to Star Wars to National Geographic. That’s partly why the title of the new Disney+ series Rogue Trip is kinda like an ink blot test for your interests. You hear the phrase “ Rogue Trip on Disney+” and you may picture a spinoff of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story . Or maybe you think Disney’s finally turning Rogue’s cross-country road trip with Iceman from mid-’90s X-Men comics into a limited series. As rad as those two ideas sound, neither is correct! Rogue Trip is something else entirely—but it’s equally adventures and totally real.

Rogue Trip is a new National Geographic travel series with a twist. But who are the hosts of Rogue Trip on Disney+? And which countries does Rogue Trip feature? And why is the show called Rogue Trip to begin with, aside from the obvious play on “road trip”? Here are your answers!

What is Rogue Trip on Disney+?

Rogue Trip is a six-episode travel docuseries that drops Bob Woodruff and his son Mack in some of the most unexpected—and most unexpectedly beautiful—locations on Earth. These aren’t the usual tourist destinations, like France or Spain or China. These are nations that have, for the most part, unfairly earned unfavorable reputations. They are, as the show puts it, roguish nations (hence, Rogue Trip ).

Who are the Rogue Trip hosts?

Rogue Trip is hosted by Bob Woodruff and his son Mack Woodruff. Bob Woodruff is most known for his career as a journalist with ABC News, where he’s been since 1996. He co-anchored ABC World News Tonight from 2005 to 2006, until he was critically injured in an explosion from an IED in Iraq. Woodruff was kept in a medically induced coma for 36 days, and his recovery process lasted the rest of 2006. He returned to ABC News in February 2007, and he launched the Bob Woodruff Foundation to help injured veterans and their families.

Woodruff co-hosts the show with his son Mack, who works as a freelance photographer all around the globe. You can see photos from his journeys through some of the locations featured in Rogue Trip on his personal website .

  • Follow Bob Woodruff on Instagram at @bobwoodruff
  • Follow Mack Woodruff on Instagram at @mackwoodruff

What are the Rogue Trip filming locations?

During the course of Season 1, Bob and Mack Woodruff travel to Ethiopia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Colombia, and Ukraine

Is there a trailer for Rogue Trip on Disney+?

You bet there is.

Rogue Trip arrives on Disney+ on Friday, July 24.

X-Men '97

Of all the big-budget X-Men movies and TV shows that have existed over the years, it’s hard to believe that a cartoon series from the ’90s is one of the most beloved entries. But it’s true. And fans of that series, which ran for five years beginning in 1992, have been eagerly awaiting this revival. Many of the original voice actors have returned to reclaim their characters, who must learn how to navigate a world without Professor Xavier to guide them. The events of this series pick up just one year after the point where the original show (which you can read more about below) ended.

Louisa Harland shines as Nell Jackson, the renegade of the title, who accidentally becomes one of the most feared highwaywomen in 18th-century England after she is framed for murder. Of course, this being a Disney series, it’s best to expect something a little magical—which in Nell’s case is Billy Blind, a magical sprite sent to help her realize her true destiny. What is surprising is that the series, which is perfectly suited to teens and their families, was created by Sally Wainwright, the brilliant mind behind such adult-themed series as Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack .

Tola Martins (Simisola Gbadamosi) is an adventurous 10-year-old who longs to discover more about the history and culture of her native Nigeria, which is portrayed as a kind of Wakanda. But her father, a wealthy scientist and tech CEO, prefers that his daughter remain within the bubble of privilege he has built around her on their island home. When she decides to travel into the city to surprise her dad, his own worst fears are realized when she is kidnapped. The limited sci-fi series, which is set in a futuristic Lagos, plays out a bit like a graphic novel—which is a good thing. With its striking animation and themes of class and racial divide and social justice, Iwájú is the thinking family’s next binge-watch.

“We don’t call her Mother Nature for nothing,” says Angela Bassett in the trailer for Queens , a new Nat Geo series that documents six far-flung places around the world where female animals rule the kingdom, from the mountains and rainforests to the oceans and savannas. The series’ final episode also pays special tribute to the women working to protect these fierce female warriors.

Nineties kids no doubt remember this sitcom about a family of dinosaurs. Earl Sinclair is a fortysomething megalosaurus living with his family in Pangaea circa 60,000,000 BC. While his days are spent working as a tree pusher (yep, he pushes over trees), he lives for his family: wife Fran and kids Robbie, Charlene, and Baby Sinclair, whose running gag of hitting his dad over the head with a frying pan and shouting “Gotta love me!” never gets old. Not even three decades on.

Genius: MLK/X

Since first premiering in 2017, Nat Geo’s Genius series has given viewers an exhaustive history of some of the world’s greatest thinkers, beginning with Albert Einstein (masterfully played by Geoffrey Rush). For its latest season, the network is diving into the real histories of the lives of civil rights icons Martin Luther King Jr. (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) and Malcolm X (Aaron Pierre). Rather than just hit the high points, like the famous speeches you likely know by heart, Genius delves into the past and deep below the surface to show how their backgrounds and personalities led them to become the icons we know today.

Marvel’s newest series continues the studio’s recent trend of shining a spotlight on its fearless—and complicated—female characters. In this case, that character is Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), aka Echo, who is best known to audiences as a baddie from Hawkeye . But over the course of its relatively short five episodes, all of which are streaming now, we learn why Maya—one of the MCU’s few deaf characters—must reconcile the events of her past and reconnect with her Native American roots in order to confront the future she has created for herself. The series is already earning solid reviews, especially for the work of Hollywood newcomer Cox, who deftly manages to shoulder the weight of an entire MCU series.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Nearly 20 years after the release of the first book in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series, this small-screen adaptation of that first title—which premiered in December—is being praised for how faithful it has remained to Riordan’s beloved words. Being a tween is hard enough, but for 12-year-old Perseus “Percy” Jackson (Walker Scobell) it gets even harder when he learns he's the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and that he has pissed off his uncle, Zeus, who believes that Percy has stolen his thunderbolt. (And you thought having a zit was bad!) Fortunately for Percy there is Camp Half-Blood—a place where demigods like himself can learn to harness their powers and use them for good. It’s there that Percy learns the whole “with great power comes great responsibility” thing and embraces it—even if he'd rather be playing video games with his friends.

Rewind the ’90s

The further removed people become from any particular decade, the more ridiculous that decade seems to become. And the ’90s are no exception, especially when you’re reminded that the government feared Furby, of all things. This limited series from Nat Geo is a loving look back at the decade that made us dependent on the internet, introduced us to the Spice Girls, and made Fabio a sex symbol around the world. If you don’t know who Fabio is, you now have even one more reason to watch. (Disclosure: WIRED's culture editor, Angela Watercutter, is a talking head in this series.)

For sci-fi fans, the holiday season is about one thing: new Doctor Who specials. In 2023, however, the rollout of those specials was a bit peculiar. Whereas previous seasons of the long-running BBC show are available on Max, the three new 60th anniversary specials—featuring fan favorites Catherine Tate and David Tennant (here playing the Fourteenth Doctor) plus Ncuti Gatwa’s debut as the new Doctor—landed on Disney+ in the US. These new installments feature Tennant’s Doctor matching wits with the Toymaker (a scenery-chewing Neil Patrick Harris); Gatwa, meanwhile, is joined by Millie Gibson as new companion Ruby Sunday. Their official first season, which will also be streaming on Disney+ (outside of the UK and Ireland), will arrive on May 10.

Behind the Attraction

Disneyland, Walt Disney’s very first theme park, opened in Anaheim, California, in 1955. In the nearly 70 years since, Disney parks have become a worldwide phenomenon and inspired rabid fan bases who make annual (if not more frequent) pilgrimages to these so-called Happiest Places on Earth. But what goes on behind the scenes? From the creation of major attractions like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean to its bustling food scene (Dole Whip, anyone?), this docuseries goes behind the scenes of the world’s most famous amusement parks.

JFK: One Day in America

November 22, 1963, will forever be remembered as one of the most traumatic days in American history. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Nat Geo assembled this fascinating three-part miniseries that relives that tragic day, as told by the people who witnessed it.

For more than 30 years, R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books have fed the nightmares of young readers—much to their delight (well, usually). Now Disney is inspiring a whole new generation of horror lovers with this fun series, which follows the lives of a group of high schoolers who begin to unravel the terrifying truth about a decades-old murder—and the roles their nearest and dearest might have played in it—in their otherwise picture-perfect hometown. While the always-affable Justin Long stars as a teacher who may or may not be possessed in season 1 of this anthology series, season 2which was announced in February—will bring an all-new cast with it, including Friends star David Schwimmer.

The MCU is exhaustingly huge. Yet while Loki is undoubtedly part of that universe, the series could just as easily work as a stand-alone piece, and it's all the more fun and surprising as a result. There are enough plot twists, silly one-liners, and time-travel antics to keep everyone entertained, and even a wisecracking alligator. If that doesn’t do it, Loki has a visual effects budget that would put most Hollywood blockbusters to shame. Sure, it’s not the most intellectually stimulating show out there, but Tom Hiddleston does a great job of turning Loki into a fairly complex, interesting character. No word yet on whether there might be a third season in Loki ’s future—and even Hiddleston is in the dark. “I truly don’t know,” he admitted to Variety in a recent interview, adding: “There have been other times when I thought that it was the end and I have been mistaken. But if this is the end, I'm so proud of where we ended up.”

Before Disney+ became the home for all of Marvel’s TV content, Netflix was the place to find it—beginning with Daredevil , in which blind attorney Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) spends his days seeking justice and his nights looking for revenge as a masked vigilante attempting to rid his Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of its criminal element. While the series ended in 2018, Cox has reprised the role and is at work on a new series, Daredevil: Born Again , which will be a Disney+ exclusive when it arrives in January 2025—hopefully (the reboot is in the midst of a massive overhaul ).

We know what you’re thinking: Wait, another Star Wars series? And we don’t blame you for asking the question. But for old-school franchise fans, Ahsoka just might surprise you. Rosario Dawson reprises the title role as Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi who studied under Anakin Skywalker, which she first played in season 2 of The Mandalorian . Here, Ahsoka sets off on a journey to locate Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen, Mads’ brother)—a master manipulator who seems to be on a mission to become the grand ruler of the galaxy. A second season is in the works.

The Wonder Years

In 2021, writer-producer Saladin K. Patterson ( Frasier , The Bernie Mac Show ) rebooted the award-winning, and much beloved, series The Wonder Years for a new generation. Don Cheadle narrates the adventures of Dean Williams (Elisha “EJ” Williams), as he comes of age in Montgomery, Alabama, in the final years of the Civil Rights Movement. Both seasons of the worthwhile series are now streaming.

Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire

While Black Panther may have gotten an official sequel with 2022’s Wakanda Forever (which is, of course, available to stream on Disney+), this animated anthology series is in many ways a spiritual successor to that Oscar-winning MCU flick. More than a dozen up-and-coming African storytellers were handpicked to write and/or direct these 10 short films, which build on the makers’ cultures and histories to paint a fascinating, gorgeously animated—and often dystopian—picture of Afrofuturism.

Never Say Never With Jeff Jenkins

It’s never too late to find your calling. Just ask travel journalist Jeff Jenkins, who had never even stepped on an airplane until the age of 20. Fifteen years later, Jenkins has certainly made up for lost time. And in this new adventure series, which will air simultaneously on National Geographic, Hulu, and Disney+, Jenkins is setting out to learn about the world and its many cultures through travel—and test his own limits. Because, as he explains on the series: “As a chubby Black guy, I don’t see a lot of folks who look like me exploring the world.” Jenkins’ enthusiasm for what he does is infectious.

Secret Invasion

From the moment it launched, Secret Invasion sparked conversation—although not for the reasons Marvel might have hoped. Turns out, the studio used artificial intelligence to create the show’s opening credits, a move that turned off some fans. Whether it’s curiosity about those Midjourney-looking visuals or general interest in what Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has been up to, Secret Invasion is worth a look. Captain Marvel costars Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn (Talos) team up again, and the show follows the two as they investigate a clandestine invasion of Earth by a shape-shifting alien race known as the Skrulls. If that doesn’t do it for you, you might want to tune in for Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke’s first—though surely not their last—forays into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Muppets Mayhem

As any Muppets fan will tell you, The Electric Mayhem Band is a highlight of any show the gang puts on. This time, Dr. Teeth and the gang are front and center, on a quest to record their first studio album with the help of an ambitious music executive, played by one-time YouTube star Lilly Singh. While one season is all you’re getting, get ready to rock nonetheless.

A Small Light

While the story of Anne Frank is well known, the life of Hermine “Miep” Gies—Otto Frank’s secretary, and one of the five Dutch citizens who helped to hide the Frank family—is lesser known. This powerful Nat Geo miniseries helps to change that, with Bel Powley delivering a moving performance as a young woman who takes a heroic stand, regardless of the consequences.

American Born Chinese

Oscar winners—and  Everything Everywhere All at Once  costars—Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan reunite for this Disney+ original series. Jin Wang (Ben Wang) is your typical teenager who’s just trying to get through the day of dealing with high school social hierarchies. But his life is forever altered when he’s asked to serve as a mentor to Wei-Chen (Jimmy Liu), a foreign exchange student who is hiding some pretty big secrets. Like that he’s actually on an otherworldly mission from the heavenly realm and has chosen Jin to serve as his guide. Part coming-of-age tale and part mythological fantasy, the single-season series is a formidable adaptation of Gene Yang’s graphic novel.

Star Wars: Visions

For a franchise as varied and diverse as Star Wars, sometimes its output can feel a little same-y. That’s not the case with  Visions . The point of the anthology series is to provide “all-new, creative” takes on the Star Wars universe. The first series, which premiered in 2021, featured nine installments from some of the best anime studios in Japan, including Kamikaze Douga and Trigger. The second anthology, which arrived in 2023, broadens the scope further, incorporating work from studios in India, Ireland, Spain, Chile, France, South Africa, the US, and the UK. If you’re looking for the best one-off tales from the Star Wars universe, look no further.

The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian was, and is, exactly what the Star Wars franchise needed. Everything about this Jon Favreau series feels like classic TV—from the episodic adventures to the cameos. Set in the outer reaches of the galaxy, it follows a moody, masked Mandalorian bounty hunter ( WIRED cover star Pedro Pascal ) and really delivers on the hype with its retro-futuristic robots, salty Space Western vibes, lack of Skywalker baggage, and, of course, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). The Mandalorian really set the tone for what a great Star Wars series could be, and while not every subsequent show has been as good, others, like Andor , have lived up to the precedent it set—and proved Star Wars stories can make for great TV. There's still no official word on a fourth season, but there is one more exciting adventure on the horizon: a movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu , which is set to begin production later this year.

Andor is something of a miracle. Created by Tony Gilroy, the filmmaker brought in to save Rogue One , it’s the origin story of one of that movie’s most beloved characters, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). Set in the early years of the Rebellion, it charts Andor’s path to becoming one of the most integral of the Rebels. With a supporting cast that includes Fiona Shaw and Stellan Skarsgård, it also features a fantastic score from Nicholas Britell ( Moonlight , Succession ). After spending so much time with Mandalorians and Jedis, it’s a welcome reprieve and perhaps the closest thing to prestige TV the Star Wars universe has released yet,

With  Ms. Marvel , Disney manages to combine its knack for producing coming-of-age tween fare with its new role as caretaker of the MCU. Iman Vellani charms as Kamala Khan, an Avengers-obsessed high schooler from Jersey City who feels like an outsider in most areas of her life. But when a gold bangle arrives from her grandmother in Pakistan, Kamala begins to realize that all the time she's spent fantasizing about what life would be like with superpowers might have been preparing her for real life. With one foot in the teen drama world and the other in the comic book universe,  Ms. Marvel —which just happens to feature Marvel’s first Muslim superhero—marks yet another admirable step forward for the company in both innovation and inclusion. Vellani’s Ms. Marvel recently made the leap to the big screen to star alongside Brie Larson in The Marvels .

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures

If helping to raise a new generation of Star Wars geeks was even a small part of your reason for having kids, this brand-new animated series, which is basically the Star Wars version of  Muppet Babies,  is a great place to start their education. Set during the High Republic era, approximately 200 years before the events of  The Phantom Menace , it follows a group of young Jedis—Jedi Lites—who are sometimes stumbling their way through learning the ways of the Force. Like any good kid series, it also teaches important lessons about life and making a positive difference in the world.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

Tatiana Maslany is no stranger to complicated characters (see:  Orphan Black ) or to playing more than one side of a single character (see again:  Orphan Black ). In  She-Hulk , she gets to hone her deft skills even further while amping up the silliness of it all. Maslany plays Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), with whom she shares that angry green gene. Ultimately, this turns out to be a boon for Walters—and the audience—when she is given the chance to head up a new branch at her law firm that’s dedicated to cases involving “superhumans” like herself. While Maslany could easily carry the show on her own (yet again, see:  Orphan Black ), an all-star supporting cast that includes Ruffalo, Jameela Jamil, Tim Roth, and Benedict Wong only adds to the fun and further cements the show’s place in the MCU.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Ewan McGregor has not always had the kindest words for the Star Wars prequels in which he first played the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi—a role he inherited from Alec Guinness, who also had plenty of less-than-favorable things to say about the franchise . So it was somewhat surprising when Lucasfilm announced that McGregor would be donning his Jedi gear again to star in a stand-alone Star Wars series for Disney+. (Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has already said there will not be a second season.) In many ways, however, it allowed McGregor and former costar Hayden Christensen to course-correct some of their earlier work, as it follows a downtrodden Obi-Wan attempting to process his personal and professional disappointment over losing Anakin Skywalker (Christensen) to the Dark Side.

The Beatles: Get Back

In January 1969, just more than a year before they announced they were breaking up, the Beatles allowed a film crew unprecedented access to the creative process and recording of Let It Be , which would be their final studio album. Fifty years later, Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson was presented with the nearly 60 hours of film footage and more than 150 hours of audio that resulted from this project, and he remastered it and turned it into a three-part docuseries. Whether you’re already a Beatles fan or not, the documentary is a fascinating look at the creative process of one of the music world’s most influential bands as they work against the clock to finish recording an album, decide to have a free concert on their label’s rooftop, and occasionally butt heads. Knowing what the subjects do not know—that this will be the last time they perform live together or record an album—only adds to the project’s intimacy. The miniseries won all five Emmys it was nominated for, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.

Moon Knight

Oscar Isaac brings yet another marquee name to Marvel’s growing roster of all-star talents with Moon Night . Here, Isaac plays a man with dissociative identity disorder, giving us not one but three distinct characters: mercenary Mark Spector, British gift shop employee Steven Grant, and the mysterious—and seemingly ominous—Jake Lockley. Ultimately, he must face off against himself to get the answers he’s seeking. For Moon Knight , Isaac told Empire that he was thrilled to be able to do something “really fucking nutty on a major stage”—and he delivers.

The Book of Boba Fett

As with The Mandalorian , Jon Favreau helms this Disney series, in which the criminally unsung bounty hunter of the Star Wars films finally gets his day in the sun. The series is technically a spinoff of The Mandalorian and takes place in the same time frame, after the events of Return of the Jedi . That explains why Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and his partner Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) are attempting to take over the underworld previously controlled by Jabba the Hutt.

The Muppet Show

While The Muppet Show , which ran for five seasons between 1976 and 1981, is considered a piece of classic television today, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for creator Jim Henson. Henson produced two one-off Muppet specials that were intended to take the show into prime time, but neither came to fruition. Fortunately, the Muppets did have a recurring gig in “The Land of Gorch” sketches that aired during Saturday Night Live ’s first season, which—when that became a hit—gave Henson proof that there was a potentially massive audience for an adult-oriented Muppet show (not to mention celebrity connections to entice plenty of A-list names to host). The rest is Muppet history.

The Punisher

The Punisher is yet another Netflix-turned-Disney+ Marvel series that also happens to be a spinoff of Daredevil. Like Daredevil, the Punisher (real name: Frank Castle, played by Jon Bernthal) is a vigilante who seems to relish exacting revenge, regardless of the results. He and Daredevil operate within the same universe, and while the Punisher sort of admires Daredevil’s quest for true justice, Daredevil despises the Punisher’s by-any-means-necessary methods. Bernthal brings an intensity to the role that, while undoubtedly violent, also has a sense of humor about it.

Boy Meets World

If ABC’s TGIF lineup wasn’t a part of your night as a kid, you clearly didn’t grow up in the ’90s. But Disney+ is happy to right that wrong by housing all seven seasons of the teen sitcom in its library. Corey Matthews (Ben Savage) deals with the ups and downs of growing up and ever-evolving relationships with friends and family—plus that one teacher, Mr. Feeny (William Daniels)—who always has the right answer to your problems, whether you like it or not. As the show progressed and the kids grew up, serious issues like drugs and sex were thrown into the mix, which didn’t always please the network. When the show aired on the original Disney Channel, a few episodes weren’t included in the lineup because of the more mature subject matter. You can also check out all three seasons of Girl Meets World , the series reboot (which features Corey as the parent and Mr. Feeny) when you’re done.

Jessica Jones

Just about six months after Daredevil arrived on the scene, Netflix took another chance on a Marvel property with Jessica Jones . In this dark dive into the world of superheroes, Krysten Ritter plays a private investigator who gave up her days as a superhero after a major catastrophe. But you can’t deny who you are, as Jessica discovers when it seems like every case that comes her way forces her to confront her past—and the supervillain Kilgrave (David Tennant), who turned her into a shell of her former self.

Yet another in an ever growing string of spinoff TV shows from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hawkeye gives some long overdue attention to Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton, who in many ways has often seemed like the forgotten Avenger. The supernaturally skilled archer is in most of the ensemble Avengers films, but this Disney+ series marks his first solo outing. The show sees Hawkeye teaming up with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a precocious twentysomething who shares his skills for slinging arrows but lacks his eye for danger. It’s set during the holidays, and there are shades of Die Hard as the eponymous character tries to save the day and make it home in time for Christmas. Let the arguments about whether it’s a Christmas TV show begin.

Monsters at Work

Monsters at Work is the Monsters, Inc. spinoff you didn’t know you needed. It picks up the action six months after the end of the iconic Pixar movie—after Sully and his friend and colleague Mike (a giant green eyeball) have reworked the Monstropolis energy grid to run on laughter instead of children’s screams. The show, which includes elements of a workplace comedy, premiered in the summer of 2021 and has a second season (presumably) coming later this year.

The Bad Batch

Yes, Disney really is milking its Star Wars properties for all they’re worth. The Bad Batch is an animated spinoff series set in the aftermath of the Clone Wars, between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy in the overarching timeline. It follows a group of clone soldiers with genetic defects that give them individual traits and personalities, making them well suited to taking on daring mercenary missions. There are 16 episodes apiece in the first two seasons, with a third and final season arrived on February 21.

WandaVision

This slow-burning sitcom parody is unexpectedly compelling. For the first couple of episodes, even hardened Marvel fans will have very little idea what’s going on, as Avengers Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) live out an idyllic family life in black-and-white 1950s suburbia. Quickly, it becomes clear that something is wrong in the quiet town of Westview, as the world of the show ties into the wider MCU. Olsen reprises her role in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , which picks up right after the events of WandaVision . Though there will not be a second season, fan-favorite Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) is getting a spinoff,  Agatha: Darkhold Diaries , which is expected to drop in late 2024.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

After the surreal sitcom stylings of WandaVision , the second Marvel show to land on Disney+ covers more familiar ground. It's an action-packed thriller that follows Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as they try to fill the void left by Captain America in the months after the events of Avengers: Endgame .

Star Wars Rebels

Accessible for kids and adults alike—and undoubtedly one of the best Star Wars TV series on Disney+—this animated series follows a group of rebels led by the former Jedi Kanan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and featuring his force-sensitive Padawan, Ezra Bridger (Ezra Gray). Fan favorite Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) is another regular character across its four seasons, which do a neat job of fleshing out the time between the end of the prequel trilogy and the beginning of the original one.

The Simpsons

Have you got some time on your hands? Well, the 34 seasons of The Simpsons currently streaming on Disney+ should keep you busy. What can be said about one of the longest-running—and arguably most famous—animated TV shows ever made? While the first season is a little patchy by today’s standards, and there are ongoing arguments about when the show went from essential viewing to neglected cash cow, whatever your view, there are literally weeks worth of entertainment here.

X-Men: The Animated Series

If you really want to nerd out, this critically acclaimed animated X-Men series from the ’90s is worth a watch. In fact, the first two films in the live-action movie franchise drew heavily from this cartoon, which serves as a nice reminder of what can be done with rich source material.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

This seven-season series, which is for serious Marvel fans, revolves around S.H.I.E.L.D.’s less super agents, led by Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg). The first season takes a while to warm up, but it really hits its stride in its second and especially third seasons, and it eventually ramps up with a complex plot that ties into the films.

Agent Carter

Agent Carter is a better show than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it struggled to find an audience during its two seasons. Hayley Atwell reprises her role as Peggy Carter from several MCU films in this 1940s-set series, where she doubles as an agent for the US government while helping Howard Stark (Tony’s dad) out of more than one jam. The two seasons stretch to only 18 episodes, so it’s a quick watch, but one worth making the time for.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

This is another Star Wars animated show worth seeking out, though it’s not to be confused with the equally worthy 2003 animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars from legendary Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky. Both series deal with the period between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith and chronicle the rise of Anakin Skywalker from arrogant Padawan to powerful Jedi Master.

Inside Pixar

There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes content on Disney+. These are short clips that, in another age, would have been confined to the DVD extras menu. But this series of 20-minute documentaries on different Pixar movies offers a fascinating insight into the animated hit machine.

Here’s an animated series based on one simple question: What if? The Watcher, played by Jeffrey Wright, is an extraterrestrial being who observes the multiverse, occasionally making minor changes to influence events. This series looks at how events in the Marvel movies would have turned out differently if they’d had a Sliding Doors moment. The first episode follows an alternate timeline in which Steve Rogers remains a scrawny sidekick and Agent Carter becomes a Union Jack-draped super soldier. Actors from the films reprise their roles, including Josh Brolin as Thanos, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Karen Gillan as Nebula. The second season arrived in late 2023.

14 Must-See Shows at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is known for its incredible rides like  Avatar Flight of Passage  at Animal Kingdom and Star Wars:  Rise of the Resistance  at Hollywood Studios, but it also puts on some equally enjoyable shows. At Disney World, guests can dive into the big, blue world of  Finding Nemo , take part in a reenactment of a tale as old as time alongside Belle, sing “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa, and so much more—all without leaving their seats.

But which live shows at Disney World should you add to your trip to-do list? Whether you’re looking for exciting entertainment options with heaps of character ( Disney characters , that is!) or an informational animal extravaganza, these can’t-miss shows are sure to make your next visit your most magical Disney vacation yet. Curtains up!

14 Best Live Shows Disney World Has to Offer

From Broadway-style musicals and character spectaculars to interactive, tech-driven shows and fun-loving sing-alongs to an informative look at the animal kingdom, you’ll find it all in the Disney Parks at the Walt Disney World Resort. Unfortunately, taking in a show can also take up a lot of time, which can be a tough sell when you already have a busy day of theme park fun. Fortunately, we’re here to help you narrow it down with our picks for the top live performances to enjoy during your Disney World vacation. Alright, it’s showtime, so let’s get started!

Please note that while some shows run continuously, others are only offered at certain times. As showtimes are subject to depending on the day and time of the year, refer to the  My Disney Experience app  for the most up-to-date schedule.

Magic Kingdom Park

Disney’s Magic Kingdom is home to a host of enchanting attractions, including a number of worthwhile shows. Before we break them all down, we would be amiss not to mention another must-do entertainment offering: the  Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade . While not a “show” per se, this fantastical  parade  is not to be missed.

Featuring a slew of your favorite characters, including  Disney Princesses  and classic Disney pals like Mickey and Minnie, as well as Maleficent as a steampunk, fire-breathing dragon, the Festival of Fantasy Parade is an absolute must. The parade route runs from Frontierland, through  Liberty Square  and down Main Street, USA, so be sure to find a spot to see the floats roll by. Now, let’s get down to business.

Enchanted Tales with Belle  (Reopening February 19, 2023)

When it comes to close-up character interactions, nothing can compare to  Enchanted Tales with Belle . Held in  Fantasyland  in her father Maurice’s quaint cottage, this adorable, interactive attraction will charm guests of all ages. Some guests (though not all) are chosen from the audience to act out parts from  Beauty and the Beast  alongside Belle and Lumiere for a delightful reenactment and  meet-and-greet  on steroids you’re sure to remember for years to come. A Disney PhotoPass photographer is also on-hand to capture the moment, so feel free to strike a pose.

Runtime:  Roughly 20 minutes

Part of Disney Genie+:  Not yet confirmed (FastPass+ offered in the past)

Viewing Tips:  Due to the more intimate nature of the attraction, the line moves slowly, so go early in the morning or during the last couple hours of the day for the shortest wait.

Let the Magic Begin Welcome Show

What better way to start your day at The Most Magical Place on Earth than with a warm welcome from Mickey and the gang?  Let the Magic Begin  is the opening show for  Magic Kingdom  and is held just a few minutes before the park opens for the day (that’s the official opening time, not the start of  Early Park Entry ). The show takes place in front of Cinderella Castle, so walk right down the middle of Main Street, USA, head straight to the Hub and kick off your day with a bang—literally.

Runtime:  5 minutes

Part of Disney Genie+:  No

Viewing Tips:  Unlike the other parks at Walt Disney World, it isn’t unheard of for cast members to open the gates and allow guests on Main Street, USA as early as an hour before opening time. Best of all, you don’t need to be a resort guest to take advantage. So, consider getting a head start on your day and head to Magic Kingdom early to enjoy excellent views of the show, as well as relatively crowd-free photo opportunities.

Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire

This next magical show also takes place on the Cinderella Castle stage. Formerly known as Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire,  Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire  is a great way to see a ton of characters at Magic Kingdom, making it a decent alternative if you don’t have time for the Festival of Fantasy Parade.

The show features classic Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy alongside more contemporary favorites like Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from  Tangled , Tiana and Prince Naveen from  The Princess and the Frog , and Elsa and Anna from  Frozen . So, it’s bound to please everyone in your group no matter who they’re fans of.

Runtime:  23 minutes

Viewing Tips:  You only need to arrive between 15 to 30 minutes before showtime to snag a front-row “seat.” However, since the pavement angles down toward the stage, creating a makeshift stadium, great views can still be had as far back as the Partners statue.

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

The  Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor  is no ordinary stage show. Located in  Tomorrowland  next to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the show is one of the more unique shows at Magic Kingdom and is appropriately made possible through the magic of technology. Set up like an open mic in Monstropolis, this monstrous comedy show takes place on a large screen and incorporates plenty of audience interaction. Not only do the monsters do crowd work in real-time with folks in the audience, but you can even text jokes to a number provided for a chance at having your one-liners incorporated into the act.

Runtime:  15 minutes

Part of Disney Genie+:  Yes

Viewing Tips:  As the auditorium can hold several hundred people, the wait time doesn’t typically get too out of hand. If you’re visiting Tomorrowland first thing in the morning, stop by after you’ve completed the other attractions in the area; otherwise, try to hold off until after the Festival of Fantasy Parade when the crowds start to thin out.

Although you’ll find plenty of entertainment options at  Epcot , most of them are either live musical performances (the  Voices of Liberty  at the American Adventure Pavilion in  World Showcase  are a must-listen if you have the time) or pre-recorded films. In fact, you’ll only find one live “stage show” at this edu-taining Disney theme park, and it’s well worth a watch if you’re visiting with kids or looking for a cute distraction that also comes with some A/C.

Turtle Talk with Crush

Similar to the  Monsters, Inc.  comedy show at Magic Kingdom,  Turtle Talk with Crush  is more of an interactive, tech-powered Q-and-A session led by everyone’s favorite Disney turtle than an actual show. With the help of a hydrophone, this  one-man  one-turtle improv show plunges dudes and dudettes into the world of  Finding Nemo , giving them an opportunity to ask all their burning questions about life in the big, blue world and beyond.

Naturally, with more than 150 years spent surfing the ocean’s currents, the tubular turtle has a ton of knowledge in his noggin. He’s like the surfer-dude Yoda of the East Australian Current. As you can imagine, it can be downright hilarious. The live chat is held throughout the day in the Turtle Talk Theater at The Seas with Nemo & Friends.

Viewing Tips:  Crowds usually clear out of the building by the late afternoon, so save the show until you’ve finished going on the ride and checking out the many aquariums.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

There’s no business like show business, and since Disney’s Hollywood Studios is all about the movie-making magic of Tinseltown, it’s no wonder that the theme park is home to several star-studded shows. Having said that, there was sadly one casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic at  Hollywood Studios : the Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

Sure, Ariel, her handsome prince and their fishy friend, Flounder, may have been able to defeat the evil sea witch, Ursula, and live happily ever after. What couldn’t they conquer, however? An infestation of mold (or, at least, that’s what the rumor mill says). That’s right—although we’ve been waiting hopefully, no amount of crossing our fingers could save the  Voyage of the Little Mermaid  from its untimely, moldy fate. According to some social media posts, they’ve even sold off the puppets used during the show, confirming that this beloved musical has left Animation Courtyard and Hollywood Studios for good.

Beauty & The Beast Live on Stage

Get caught up in the romance of a classic love story during  Beauty & The Beast Live on Stage . Featuring lavish costumes, a stunning set, beloved songs and a talented cast, this lush Broadway-style musical retelling of Disney’s treasured animated film will leave you feeling giddy. Held in the open-air Theater of the Stars on Sunset Boulevard, the auditorium can get pretty steamy during the hot summer months. On the bright side, aside from some overflow seating, the theater is covered, so you don’t need to worry about Florida’s hot summer sun or rain showers.

Runtime:  30 minutes

Viewing Tips:  As one of the more elaborate stage shows at not just Hollywood Studios but Walt Disney World overall, Beauty & The Beast Live on Stage can unsurprisingly get pretty busy. So, we recommend you arrive at least 25 to 35 minutes ahead of time if you want a good (AKA shaded) seat.

Mickey with fireworks at night

No trip to Walt Disney World and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is complete without catching a showing of  Fantasmic , the park’s must-see nighttime spectacular. Along with dazzling fountains, colorful projections and thrilling  fireworks , this incredible performance features Mickey Mouse in an epic battle of good versus evil, as well as a mind-blowingly big cast of many other Disney characters, including new additions like Mulan, Moana, Aladdin and Elsa. You’ll also see a diabolical gang of Disney Villains, including an appearance by Maleficent in her fire-breathing dragon form.

At its heart,  Fantasmic  is a loving ode to Disney animation and its many  characters , with an array of both live action sequences and projected scenes. Everyone from Ariel and Prince of  The Little Mermaid  to King Louie from  The Jungle Book  can be seen in some shape or form, making for a truly unmissable experience. Don’t be surprised if the grand finale brings a tear to your eye.

Fantasmic takes place on Sunset Boulevard in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater next to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Yes, that means that the show is completely uncovered and can only be run weather permitting. On top of that, only one or two showings are offered each night, depending on if it’s the high or low season. So, be sure to plan your day accordingly. If you can, try to find a seat as close to the middle as possible for a centralized view. We also recommend bringing snacks along from one of the  restaurants  outside the theater since the lines for food stands inside can be long.

Runtime:  29 minutes

Part of Disney Genie+:  Not currently, though the show was part of FastPass+ in the past

Viewing Tips:  If you couldn’t already tell, Fantasmic draws some of the biggest crowds of any stage show at Walt Disney World and certainly Hollywood Studios. So, be prepared for long wait times if you want a good seat. If one is available, try to wait it out until the second showing, as the crowds tend to be slightly less extreme. Alternatively, if you’d rather splurge a bit in order to secure a great view, consider booking a  dining  package.

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

Feeling a bit stressed out by all those crazy theme park crowds? Let it go during a showing of For the  First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration . Held at the air-conditioned Hyperion Theater in Echo Lake, this charming stage show is a must for all those families who have the soundtrack on repeat. Headlined by Elsa, Anna and Kristoff, as well as the Royal Historians of Arendelle, the show is a mishmash between a comedic retelling of the popular Disney film and an interactive sing-along. Don’t know the words to all those  Frozen  tunes? Not to worry! The song lyrics are displayed so everyone can belt out the many show-stoppers.

Viewing Tips:  Due to its location near the front of the park, the  Frozen  sing-along sees a lot of traffic early in the day. So, plan to visit in the afternoon for a better view.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

Entertaining guests with its daring thrills since August 1989, the  Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular  is a Hollywood Studios mainstay. Featuring a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to film some of the more suspenseful scenes from  Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark , complete with the famous rolling boulder, the action-packed stunt show is one of the few  attractions  that still follows the original vision of Disney’s Hollywood Studios as both a theme park and an operational production studio, giving guests an edu-taining inside look at stage combat and more. If you like, you can even join Indy’s stunt double and volunteer to be an extra in the bustling Cairo scene.

Viewing Tips:  For the smallest crowds, try to make it to the very first showing of the day. Otherwise, plan to arrive at least 20 minutes early if you want a spot up close. Just like any good student, this is especially where you want to sit if you’re hoping to be an extra. However, be aware that the pyrotechnics can feel unbearably hot the closer you get to the stage.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park also boasts its fair share of worthwhile entertainment offerings, including what is arguably the best stage show in all of Walt Disney World: the Festival of the Lion King.

Feathered Friends in Flight!

If you are or are traveling with an animal lover, then you’ll definitely want to make your way to Asia in Animal Kingdom for  Feathered Friends in Flight . Although you can no longer see Russell and his pal Dug like you could during the show’s previous iteration, UP! A Great Bird Adventure, this fascinating stage show is still worth a watch.

The show takes place in the Anandanpur Theater, which features architecture evocative of the Himalayan Highlands, making for an especially atmospheric setting. The scene is made even more enchanting with over 15 bird species from across the globe, including toucans, macaws, eagles and more. Much like the rest of Animal Kingdom, the show is interspersed with conservation messages alongside presentations by animal trainers of the birds’ natural behaviors. Want to get even closer to these majestic creatures? Volunteer to be part of the show.

Runtime:  25 minutes

Viewing Tips:  This isn’t one of the busier stage shows at Disney World. So, feel free to arrive around 20 minutes before showtime to claim a good seat.

Asia at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park 1

Festival of the Lion King

Ok, we’re just going to go ahead and say it.  Festival of the Lion King  is the best stage show at Walt Disney World. That’s high praise, we know, but trust us. It has all the goods to back it up. Featuring acrobats, fire jugglers, aerial artists, stilt walkers, much-loved songs, an incredibly talented cast of singers and even appearances by Simba, Timon and Pumbaa (in puppet form), this extravagant stage show needs to be at the very top of your Disney vacation to-do list.

The vocals are breathtaking. The costumes are gorgeous. The puppetry and acrobatics are show-stopping. Seriously, what else do we need to say to convince you? Best of all, this stunning, Broadway-caliber production is held in the round at the Harambe Theater in Africa, meaning there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.

Runtime:  40 minutes

Viewing Tips:  As one of the most popular stage shows at Disney World, the Festival of the Lion King draws large crowds throughout the day. If you can’t make it to the first or last two shows of the day, be prepared to arrive at least 35 to 45 minutes prior to the start time.

Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!

Believe it or not, Animal Kingdom is home to not one but two Broadway-style musicals.  Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond  immerses guests in the underwater world of its titular clown fish and features appearances by many other fishy Pixar friends. With impressive puppetry, talented performers and original music composed by dynamic songwriting duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who are renowned for their work on  Frozen , this is yet another stage show that deserves your precious time.

May the 4th Galactic Foodie Guide 2024

In this updated version of the show, a dazzling screen at the back of the stage does much of the heavy lifting when it comes to the set. However, that means that some of the previous set pieces have been cut. Fortunately, most guests won’t even know they’re missing. Finding Nemo the Musical is held at the Theater in the Wild in DinoLand USA, which is located on the path to Asia.

Viewing Tips:  The Theater in the Wild is large and cool, with plenty of great seats. Still, we recommend you show up at least 30 minutes prior to showtime for the best view.

Outside the Theme Parks

You don’t need to go to the theme parks to take in a great live show at Disney World. Folks looking for a little post-park entertainment can also enjoy wonderful stage shows in Disney Springs and at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney

Watch with wonder as sketches come to life amid a backdrop of beloved Disney animation during Drawn to Life , an exuberant collaboration between Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. With an animator’s desk as the stage, thrilling acrobatics and a soaring score styled after timeless Disney songs, this whimsical stage show follows the story of a girl who completes her father’s unfinished drawings with the help of a magical pencil and a childhood filled with Disney memories.

Typically held twice nightly, with showtimes at 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM, on the West Side of Disney Springs , this vibrant, spellbinding production is well worth the trip to the popular entertainment district. Just be aware that the price of admission can be steep, especially if you’re traveling as a family. Tickets range from $75 to as much as $200, depending on the showtime and seating category.

Runtime:  90 minutes

Viewing Tips: Drawn to Life takes place in a circular theater, meaning there really isn’t a bad seat to be had. That said, this isn’t necessarily a show where you want to be right up next to the stage, as you may end up missing out on some of the action. So, be sure to choose your section accordingly. Don’t worry about booking several months in advance—there is usually plenty of availability.

Disney Springs Shopping in the evening

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

For this next Disney show, you don’t just get to enjoy some incredible entertainment—you’re also served a tasty meal, too. Held at Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground since September 1974, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a true Walt Disney World classic. This Wild West-themed dinner show is chockful of fun, with singing, dancing, laugh-out-loud comedy and plenty of audience interaction. It’s a hootenanny of a good time. And, not to mention, the food is delicious. Throughout the show, guests dig into bottomless helpings of hearty fare like BBQ ribs, fried chicken, baked beans and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Yum! Oh, and for all the adults out there, unlimited alcoholic drinks are also included.

Shows are offered three times nightly, with seating beginning at 4:00 PM, 6:15 PM and 8:30 PM. Though the experience isn’t cheap (prices range from $66 to $74 for adults or $39 to $44 for kids), we think it’s a great deal considering the quality of the show and the amount of food that’s included (and the booze!). Be aware that reservations are highly recommended and prepayment is required.

Runtime: 2 hour s

Viewing Tips: As the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue is held at Fort Wilderness, actually getting to the show can be quite a lengthy adventure. So, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there. For folks coming from the Magic Kingdom, the most direct route is to take the resort boat launch. Otherwise, if you’re driving or taking a bus to the resort, please note that you will need to get on a separate bus to get to Pioneer Hall.

Top Tips for Watching Shows at the Disney Parks

Ok, now that you know which shows at Disney World you want to see, here are some handy-dandy vacation planning tips to help you have the most magical experience possible.

Plan to Arrive Early for the Best Views

Just like the most in-demand rides at the Walt Disney World theme parks, stage shows and other live performances can also be incredibly popular, and that means possibly having to contend with large crowds, long lines and jam-packed theaters. While you could certainly arrive shortly before showtime and hope for the best, if you don’t want to get stuck with a bad seat, your best bet is to beat the masses and show up early. After all, you’re on vacation and you deserve a good view.

Keep in mind that an early arrival time varies from show to show. For example, since Fantasmic is only held once or twice each night, the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater is usually crazy full. So, if you don’t want to be towards the back row or in one of the outside sections, you should plan to get in line at least 45 to 60 minutes (or more—the amphitheater opens 90 minutes prior to showtime) before the show starts. In contrast, as the Festival of the Lion King offers several showtimes throughout the day and is performed in the round, meaning that the stage is in the middle of the room, you don’t need to arrive at the Harambe Theatre quite as early. Showing up at least a half-hour beforehand will get you a great seat.

Upgrade to Disney Genie+ to Guarantee a Good Seat

Though not offered at all of the shows at Disney World, many of the live performances on our list do have  Lightning Lanes . So, if you want to guarantee an excellent view for you and your crew without the hassle of arriving ridiculously early (we get it—you only get so much time in the theme parks, and every minute is precious), consider upgrading your Walt Disney World vacation with  Disney Genie Plus .

Sure, Disney Genie+ isn’t as cheap (AKA  free ) as its FastPass predecessor, especially if you’re traveling as a family with kids. However, since those with the service receive priority seating, it can be a worthwhile investment if an up-close view is important to you, particularly if you’re short on time.

Festival of the Lion King Christmas garland

Try to Take Advantage of Audience Participation Opportunities (or Not)

Ok, this next suggestion isn’t for everyone. That said, if you or one of your kiddos love being in the spotlight, then you might want to give it a go. For all the aspiring actors and actresses out there, a handful of the shows on our list do outsource parts of the production to audience members, including Enchanted Tales with Belle and, to a lesser extent, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom, Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot, the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios, and Feathered Friends in Flight and Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom.

As you can probably imagine, taking to the stage during a show at Walt Disney World can be a downright magical experience (or incredibly terrifying if you’re like me and you have stage fright). So, if you’re someone that thrives on being the center of attention, then throw your hand in the air, wave it wildly and hope that one of the cast members calls on you. Should you be lucky enough to get picked, you’re sure to leave with a memory you won’t soon forget.

On the other hand, if someone in your party would rather drink a bottle of the infamous(ly disgusting) Beverly soda from Epcot’s Club Cool than go up on stage, please don’t volunteer them as tribute. And that means you, too, parents of wallflower-like little ones. While you might get a kick out of seeing them up there, they’re probably going to be absolutely mortified and, as a result, super cranky once the show is over. Fortunately, there are also some low-key ways to get involved, like belting it out at a sing-along, texting your favorite one-liner or asking a question about life under the sea.

Use Live Performances as a Chance to Rest

Although they can take up more time than a typical attraction, watching shows at Disney World gives you an opportunity to slow things down, take a load off your park-weary feet and, if the performance is inside, soak up some blissful air conditioning.  Central Florida  can get hot, ya’ll! Heck, you might even be able to sneak in a power nap. (Don’t worry, this is a judgment-free zone, and we fully support your decisions. Self-care is important at any time, but especially when you’re on vacation.)

So, don’t just go from ride to ride and packed queue to packed queue all day long. Do yourself a favor and take active breaks during your day. After all, you’re still immersing yourself in plenty of Disney magic. You just happen to be doing it while (hopefully) sitting down. Trust us, you’ll thank us later.

Be Respectful of the People Around You

Last but certainly not least, please, please,  please  do your part to keep the show as enjoyable as possible for everyone around you. We know that you’ve spent a good deal of money to make it to The Most Magical Place on Earth—and so has everyone else at Walt Disney World. In other words, while it might be tempting to talk loudly about all the action happening up on the stage or stand up so you can see better (or, worse yet, throw little Timmy on your shoulders), be aware of your surroundings and respectful of your fellow guests.

Not only do you make it difficult for others to hear or block the view of the people behind you (hi, short person here!), but for those with kids on their shoulders, it can also be incredibly dangerous. With so many people crammed in next to each other, it’s easy to get accidentally knocked over, putting both you and your child at risk. If you see that all of the people around you are sitting, stay there so that everyone can enjoy the great view. Of course, if you’re at the back of the pack or against a wall and won’t obstruct someone’s view, then by all means, give your kiddo a boost. Oh, and those Mickey or Minnie Ears you’re wearing, be a pal and take those off, too.

Similarly, be kind to cast members. Speaking as a former employee of the Mouse, your safety is a cast member’s number one priority. So, if someone asks you to go a different direction or not climb all willy-nilly over the theater bleachers, it’s because they have your best interests at heart. Following their instructions will ensure you have both a safe and enjoyable experience.

The 32 Best TV Shows About Time Travel

time travel TV shows

Time traveling is a popular topic when it comes to all types of entertainment from books to films. But in recent years time travel has also become a popular theme in TV.

So let’s take a look at this list of the best time traveling TV shows and find out how each of them handles time travel and all the history that comes with it.

Doctor Who, BBC One (1963 – 1989, 2005 – present)

BBC One Doctor Who

When it comes to time traveling and TV, probably the most notable name in this niche is Doctor Who  because this time travel series has been around for 39 seasons and is still going strong.

Hailing from British television channel BBC One, Doctor Who tells the tale of the Time Lord aka The Doctor, and his companions as they travel to different times and try to prevent evil forces from changing history and hurting innocent lives.

Once the Time Lord gets hurt beyond healing, he can transform into a new body and continue saving the world. Hence why at this point 13 (soon to be 14) different actors have played The Doctor.

Doctor Who is not only a huge part of the fabric of British popular culture but by now this time travel show has found its way into the hearts of many people all over the world.

It has inspired many spin-offs in the form of TV shows, comic books, movies, novels, you name it. But more than that, by now it has become an industry standard both when it comes to science-fiction television series and shows about time travel.

No wonder that Doctor Who continues to be successful after countless actor changes and plot twists.

Where to watch Doctor Who:

Timeless, nbc (2016 – 2018).

NBC Timeless

Another time travel TV series that has already become a cult classic and is adored by fans all over the world is NBC’s Timeless . And despite the turmoil that this show has gone through, it still is time traveling at its best.

Starring Malcolm Barrett, Matt Lanter, and Abigail Spencer as Rufus, Wyatt, and Lucy, Timeless  details the trio traveling to different times in an effort to stop their adversaries from rewriting history.

But as it later turns out, the conspiracy goes deeper than them just changing history. Since the people who our trio is chasing are traveling through time to take down a dangerous and all-powerful organization. The same one that helped build the time machine that Rufus, Wyatt, and Lucy are using.

And although Timeless went on for just two seasons (and a two-hour wrap-up movie), you should still check out the show because it’s not only entertaining but will make you think and want to know more about the events that each episode is exploring.

Where to watch Timeless:

Dc’s legends of tomorrow, the cw (2016 – present).

DC's Legends of Tomorrow

If you are a fan of superhero TV shows, then you will probably have heard about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow . It is a show that is a huge part of The CW’s Arrowverse. And has crossed over with shows like Arrow , The Flash , and Supergirl multiple times now.

And even if you don’t like the rest of the superhero series but do enjoy a good old time travel TV show, then I suggest you still give Legends of Tomorrow a watch.

The plot of this show is based around a team of superheroes that are traveling through time in their time machine christened the Waverider to prevent different catastrophes from happening. Both ones made by others and those created by the team’s previous adventures.

At the forefront, there are well-known DC heroes like Rip Hunter, Firestorm, The Atom, Kid Flash, Steel, and Vixen. Joined by some original characters like Caity Lotz’s White Canary among others.

One of the defining characteristics of Legends of Tomorrow is how fun it is. Because adjectives like unapologetic, witty, and entertaining are frequently used to describe this time travel series.

However, more than that, it adds an interesting layer to the whole Arrowverse universe. And above all, it is just a hoot to watch.

Where to watch Legends of Tomorrow:

12 monkeys, syfy (2015 – 2018).

SyFy 12 Monkeys

Then there also is SyFy’s 12 Monkeys , which is a little darker take on time traveling. One that comes with mystery, drama, and apocalyptic stakes. But that doesn’t lessen how good this time travel TV series is.

Split between two timelines, 12 Monkeys centers on Aaron Stanford’s James Cole, who is tasked to travel back in time and stop the distribution of a virus that has the ability to end the human race as we know it.

In Cole’s real timeline, the year is 2043 and people are struggling to survive because of the terrible mutations caused by the virus. So Cole travels back to 2015 to find virologist Cassie Railly, played by Amanda Schull, that can help him stop the release of the virus and the organization that is behind it called The Army of the 12 Monkeys.

If you think about it, the post-apocalyptic setting and time travel really do go hand in hand. Because if you can go back in time to stop history from being changed, why not go back to change it if it prevents something terrible from happening?

And that is what this show explores. Beautifully combining elements of mystery, drama, and science fiction, to form a great TV show.

Where to watch 12 Monkeys:

Outlander, starz (2014 – present).

travel shows disney

Want another show that mixes time travel with historical events and does it flawlessly? Then you should put Outlander on your must-watch TV show list!

The show starts in the 1940s when a combat nurse Claire Randall visits Inverness, Scotland as part of her second honeymoon with her husband Frank. Claire accidentally happens upon the standing stones at Craigh na Dun which transport her back in time to 1743.

To return to her own time she first has to survive 18th-century Scotland. And she does so by joining a group of rebel Highlanders from Clan MacKenzie and marrying one of the Highlanders, Jamie Fraser. But eventually, she falls in love with her new husband and aids the clan in evading British redcoats that are pursuing them.

Over the five seasons of Outlander that are currently out (with the sixth coming soon), we see Claire jump back and forth between the 20th and 18th centuries and her two families as she faces two pregnancies, wars, and much more. But eventually, Claire finds her way back to Jamie.

Where to watch Outlander:

Travelers, showcase (2016 – 2018).

Netflix Travelers

Then we have Travelers , a joint venture between Netflix and Canada’s Showcase that will tick all of your time travel TV show boxes.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world , this show depicts the adventures of travelers – operatives who go back in time to prevent the collapse of society.

These travelers are transferred into the bodies of our current-day humans, who otherwise would die, to blend in with twenty-first-century people. And with the help of their artificial intelligence boss from the future, travelers carry out missions in order to stop many catastrophic events from happening.

Travelers is a great mix of sci-fi and drama, featuring a great cast and spine-tingling storylines. So if you love all that and love a good time-travel series, then look no further than Travelers .

Where to watch Travelers:

Dark, netflix (2017 – 2020).

travel shows disney

Netflix’s first German original series was the science fiction series Dark , which mixes in some mystery drama with sci-fi: time travel, the apocalypse, wormholes, and parallel worlds.

Dark takes place in Winden, a fictional German town, and begins in 2019 after children begin to disappear from the town. As the show progresses, however, timelines jump drastically between as early as 1921 to as late as 2053.

As four families in Winden investigate the disappearances to reunite with their lost loved ones, they discover a wormhole beneath the local powerplant that allows them to travel between timelines, thus uncovering a generations-long conspiracy involving the town and their families.

Where to watch Dark:

The umbrella academy, netflix (2019 – present).

travel shows disney

Netflix brings another to the list with The Umbrella Academy .

On October 1, 1989, 43 infants were suddenly born from unsuspecting women despite them not even being pregnant the day before.

7 of them were raised together as the Hargreeve siblings and trained in their respective abilities until their relationship became strained as teenagers and they drifted apart.

Now, as adults, they’re brought back together by the death of their adoptive father – and the threat of the end of the world, of course.

They’re forced to travel back in time but end up in different times and places, and must find each other again to stop the nuclear apocalypse.

Where to watch The Umbrella Academy:

Seven days, upn (1998 – 2001).

travel shows disney

We know that the National Security Agency has its share of secrets, but what if one of those secrets was a time-traveling machine?

In UPN’s Seven Days , the plot centers on one such device made from alien technology found at Roswell.

The Chronosphere, as it’s called, can only be used in times when national security is at risk – the limited capacity of the device allows for just one human to go back in time by seven days in order to avert disasters.

Thus, when the White House is attacked, the NSA employs former Navy SEAL and CIA operative Frank Parker to go back and prevent it from happening.

Where to watch Seven Days:

Loki, disney+ (2021 – present).

travel shows disney

Yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the greatest gifts to the cinema of our time. Now, the MCU has expanded even further into the television medium and we’ve got a few series to accompany it!

One of those is Loki , which of course, centers on the God of Thunder’s mischievous adopted brother.

After the events in Avengers: Endgame , particularly his stealing of the Tesseract, Loki inadvertently creates another timeline that began in 2012, making him a “time variant” version of himself.

When confronted by the authorities, Loki is given two choices: face punishment and cease to exist, or travel through time to fix his own mess and the threat that has emerged.

Where to watch Loki:

Making history, fox (2017).

travel shows disney

The thing about traveling back in time is, you have to be very careful that your actions in the past won’t affect the future (which is essentially your actual present).

Most of the time, that’s something you wouldn’t know until you go back to your time. In Making History , however, Dan Chambers travels back in time to right before the American Revolution and sets off a series of events that seriously mess up the future.

Being able to constantly travel between time periods, Dan recruits the help of history professor Chis Parrish to travel with him and ensure that the American Revolution still takes place.

Where to watch Making History:

Quantum leap, nbc (1989 – 1993).

travel shows disney

The title of NBC’s sci-fi comedy-drama Quantum Leap is also the name of the time travel machine that accidentally sends its creator, physicist Dr. Sam Beckett, back into the past.

Now, he’s stuck – and not as himself, either!

Sam discovers that he jumped into the body of a stranger and because he’s still himself, doesn’t know all the details of his current identity.

With the help of his friend Al, who appears as a hologram only he can see, he must fix something that went wrong so he can jump in time again and eventually get back to his own body.

Where to watch Quantum Leap:

Quantum leap, nbc (2022 – present).

travel shows disney

Speaking of Quantum Leap , in 2022 NBC revived the 1989 series into a more modern take on the cult classic.

In this new Quantum Leap , thirty years have passed since Dr. Sam Beckett vanished into the Quantum Leap accelerator, and the Quantum Leap project was put to rest.

Now the project is restarted with a new team, who tries to puzzle together the mysteries behind Beckett and his time-traveling machine.

So, we follow Ben Song, the lead physicist of the Quantum Leap time travel project, who gets lost in the past after leaping back in time.

As he tries to return to the present he is helped by his fiancée Addison Augustine, who appears to him as a hologram during each leap, and the team back in the present time.

Where to watch Quantum Leap reboot:

The way home, hallmark channel (2023 – present).

travel shows disney

Among the newest time travel shows on this list is Hallmark’s The Way Home which has already been renewed for a second season.

The Way Home follows three generations of Landry women who learn that they can time travel after discovering a magic pond on their family’s farm in Port Haven.

When Kat and her daughter Alice return to Port Haven and are forced to move in with Alice’s estranged mother Del, the three women use time travel to uncover their family history, including what really happened to Kat’s little brother Jacob and whether they can prevent his disappearance.

Where to watch The Way Home:

Russian doll, netflix (2019 – 2022).

travel shows disney

Netflix’s Russian Doll deviates from the traditional time travel theme of a willing traveler in one specific timeline because Russian Doll’s protagonist Nadia Vulvokov not only has absolutely no choice or control over her so-called time traveling, but hers is also a time loop.

She wakes up every day having to relive the day of her 36th birthday party in New York City; every time, she dies and comes back to the exact same moment.

Every time, Nadia scrambles to figure out what happens to her and tries to prevent her death, leading her to find Alan, a man who is experiencing the same time loop.

Where to watch Russian Doll:

Undone, prime video (2019 – present).

travel shows disney

Undone may be an animated series, but it certainly isn’t geared toward younger audiences; though there is a touch of comedy, the series leans more towards the psychological drama genre and “explores the elastic nature of reality”.

The series follows Alma Winograd-Diaz right after she gets into a near-fatal car accident.

Right before the crash, she has a strange vision of her dead father, and right after it, she finds that she now has the ability to manipulate and move through time.

Using this newfound power, she travels between time periods to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding her father’s death.

Where to watch Undone:

Voyagers, nbc (1982 – 1983).

travel shows disney

Premiering back in the early 1980s, NBC’s Voyagers! Is set in a world where time travel already exists.

In fact, there’s already a secret society in place that trains its members, called Voyagers, to go back in time and make sure that historical events happen exactly the way they’re supposed to – otherwise it could affect the present in unexpected ways.

One such Voyager is Phineas Bogg, although he isn’t exactly the best at the job.

During an accidental trip to 1982, he meets the young Jeffrey Jones and ends up bringing him along on one of his missions.

Having lost his Guidebook, Phineas now needs to rely on the extremely smart Jeffrey to get history right.

Where to watch Voyagers!:

Fringe, fox (2008 – 2013).

travel shows disney

Fox’s Fringe is a series that was well into the science fiction genre, with parallel universes, supernatural abilities, biotechnology, doomsday predictions, and of course, time travel.

The title is taken from fringe science, which is a branch that deals with scientific theories riddled with skepticism or even having been disproven already.

In Fringe , Special Agent Olivia Dunham is assigned to oversee the FBI ’s Fringe Division, which is run by Peter Bishop and his father Walter.

Together, the team uses both fringe science and Olivia’s knowledge in investigative techniques to explore the unexplained.

In the process, they discover a larger mystery involving parallel universes and alternate timelines .

Where to watch Fringe:

Time after time, abc (2017).

travel shows disney

ABC’s Time After Time is based on the novel of the same name written by Kevin Williamson in 1979.

In addition to that, each episode takes its title from a line in Cyndi Lauper’s song, which was inspired by the film (and subsequently, the same book!).

In Time After Time , we are taken to H.G. Wells’ home in 1893.

During a dinner party, he reveals his time machine – right before his guest John Stevenson is arrested for actually being Jack the Ripper .

John escapes through the time machine and Wells follows him straight into the present: 2017. Thus begins a cat-and-mouse game as John attempts to gain control of the machine.

Where to watch Time After Time:

11.22.63, hulu (2016).

travel shows disney

When you have anything with Stephen King involved, you know it’s going to be great.

Hulu’s eight-episode miniseries 11.22.63 is based on King’s novel 11/22/63 and is a science fiction thriller like no other.

Starring James Franco in the lead role, 11.22.63 follows Jake Epping, an English teacher from Maine .

His best friend Al reveals a time travel machine and asks him to take over the mission he’s been working on: to travel to the 60s and prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Will Jake be successful in changing a past that simply refuses to be changed?

Where to watch 11.22.63:

The 4400, usa network/sky one (2004 – 2007).

travel shows disney

The 4400 is yet another slightly different take on the idea of time travel, in that there has been just one (fairly significant) shift forward in time, to the present.

Beginning in 1946, individuals who were easily overlooked or marginalized by society slowly began disappearing through beams of green light.

Now, all 4400 of them (hence the title) have been returned to the present day – without having aged a day and in some cases, even manifesting supernatural abilities like telekinesis, healing, and telepathy.

Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris are assigned to investigate the phenomenon and find out why the 4400 have returned.

NOTE: For a fresher take on the show, you can also check out the reboot of the original series which is currently airing on The CW.

Where to watch The 4400:

Somewhere between, abc (2017).

travel shows disney

When tragedy strikes our lives, we always wish there was something we could’ve done to prevent it.

In ABC’s Somewhere Between we meet Laura Price, a successful news producer with a great career, a loving husband who’s a district attorney, and a beautiful daughter named Serena.

However, her life changes when the serial killer she is helping the cops to catch kills Serena.

Distraught with grief , Laura attempts to complete suicide but is unsuccessful, instead waking up having time-traveled to a week before Serena’s death.

She teams up with Nico, a former SFPD detective who experienced the same reset and wants to find the real killer to change his brother’s fate as well.

Where to watch Somewhere Between:

Terra nova, fox (2011).

travel shows disney

Terra Nova takes its viewers to both extremes of the time-traveling timeline.

The present-day is 2149, where overpopulation has threatened to deplete the Earth’s resources.

In an attempt to save Earth and mankind, scientists have found a way to travel back in time, sending groups of humans back to the Cretaceous Period to set up colonies.

Terra Nova focuses primarily on Elisabeth and Jim Shannon, and their three children, who have joined the 10th pilgrimage to Terra Nova.

They offer their expertise as a trauma surgeon and former narcotics detective and help those in charge with stopping those whose intentions go against the greater good.

Where to watch Terra Nova:

Frequency, the cw (2016 – 2017).

travel shows disney

One concept in time travel is known as “the butterfly effect”, wherein one small change in time may have great effects elsewhere.

Frequency demonstrates this concept perfectly.

Raimy Sullivan is an NYPD detective who, after a strange weather phenomenon, discovers that she can communicate with her dead father through his old ham radio.

Believing he was a corrupt cop, she learns the truth and warns him of his murder, thus saving his life.

However, this has profound effects on the future – Raimy’s present.

Now, they must work together across time to save her father and preserve the present.

Where to watch Frequency:

Life on mars, bbc one (2006).

travel shows disney

In many of the shows on the list so far, the protagonists experience a time loop that’s triggered at the point of their death.

It’s no different for Sam Tyler, the main character in the British series Life on Mars .

Sam is a Detective Chief Inspector with the Greater Manchester Police, but one day he accidentally gets hit by a car.

When he awakens, he’s in 1973 and working at one rank lower than he was: Detective Inspector.

The selling point of Life on Mars , however, is that we’re left unsure if Sam’s predicament is due to his actual death, a comatose, or time travel.

Where to watch Life on Mars:

Always a witch, netflix (2019 – 2020).

travel shows disney

Always A Witch (or Siempre Bruja in its original Spanish title) is a Colombian series that is set in both present-day Colombia and the 17th century .

The series follows Carmen Eguiliuz, a young 19-year-old witch who, after committing the crime of falling in love with a white man in 1646 colonial Colombia, is scheduled to be burned at the stake.

She gets a chance to escape to a new life when the mysterious wizard Aldemar makes a deal with her: he will save the man she loves if she travels into the future to find the woman who can break his curse.

Where to watch Always a Witch:

Beforeigners, hbo (2019 – present).

travel shows disney

HBO’s Beforeigners is a Norwegian sci-fi crime drama series and the first Norwegian original from HBO Europe.

The title is a clever play on words centered on the general plot: a group of “foreigners” has suddenly shown up at a neighborhood in Oslo, and they are all from “before” times, or several different time periods in history.

Whether from the Viking period , the Stone Age, or the more recent 19th century , each of these ‘Beforeigners’ tries to integrate in modern-day Norwegian society.

One of them even partners with a detective to investigate first a murdered Stone Age woman, then a series of murderers tied to Jack the Ripper.

Where to watch Beforeigners:

Alice, sbs tv (2020).

travel shows disney

Alice was a South Korean sci-fi series that aired in late 2020.

In the lead-up to the main plot, the show’s background is explained to its viewers.

Set in 2050, time travel is monitored by an agency called Alice, which sends its clients to the past to help find closure with deceased loved ones.

Alice one day sends two agents to 1992 in order to find the Book of Prophecy, but one of them disappears with the book and her unborn child.

In 2020, the child becomes a detective and in his investigation into his mother’s death in 2010, discovers the existence of Alice and time travel.

Where to watch Alice:

Live up to your name, tvn (2017).

travel shows disney

Yet another South Korean time travel series , Live Up to Your Name initially takes its viewers some 400 years into the past, right in the middle of the Joseon dynasty.

There we meet Heo Im, a doctor of traditional Korean medicine who also specializes in acupuncture.

On one of his treatments of the king’s migraines, he made a mistake and was charged with treason.

Chased by the king’s soldiers, he’s shot with an arrow and presumed dead when he falls into the river – except he ends up waking up in present-day Seoul instead, where he meets cardiothoracic surgeon Choi Yeon-kyung.

Where to watch Live Up to Your Name:

My only love song, netflix (2017).

travel shows disney

Our third South Korean series is Netflix’s My Only Love Song , which aired in 2017.

We start off in modern-day Korea where we meet Soo-jung, a talented and top-level actress.

However, it seems that the fame may have gotten to her head as she’s arrogant, and believes fame and money make the world go round.

When things don’t go her way on her new show, she winds up in a time-traveling van that takes her to the 6th century.

There, she meets a man much like herself in terms of arrogance, but his hidden soft spot and generosity towards the poor changes her perspective on her own life and self.

Where to watch My Only Love Song:

Signal, tvn (2016).

travel shows disney

Signal is based on the 2000 American film Frequency , but another thing that sets this South Korean series apart from others is that the cases investigated in the series are also based on real-life crimes in the country.

Signal follows a cold case profiler from 2015 and a detective from 1989 simultaneously; they discover they’re able to communicate with each other through an old walkie-talkie.

Using this unique ability to provide much-needed foresight in investigations, they team up to both solve and in some cases, even prevent these horrific crimes.

Where to watch Signal:

Rooftop prince, sbs (2012).

travel shows disney

Last but not least, South Korea brings its last time-traveling series to the table with Rooftop Prince , a comedy-drama filled with intrigue, mixed identities, and possible reincarnations.

Crown Prince Lee Gak from the Joseon dynasty accidentally time travels to 2012 with three others from his entourage, and their lives are thrown into a whirlwind.

He crosses paths with Se-na, who looks exactly like his recently deceased wife.

In the hopes of getting answers about his wife’s mysterious drowning, he assumes the identity of another man who he also looks exactly like and attempts to marry Se-na in this timeline as well.

Tomorrow people cw

You forgot The Time Tunnel, an Irwin Allen sci-fi show (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost In Space, Land of The Giants), all classic 60s sci-fi

Journeyman should also be on this list. It was only half a season on NBC but it wraps up to a satisfying conclusion.

Fantastic acting and interesting characters.

Glad someone else watched Journeyman. I thought I’d was a great spiritual successor to Quantum Leap.

Journeyman is one of the good shows u can watch but qunatum leap i watched and didnt like

Where is The Time Tunnel?????

Another show for your list is “Being Erica” (CBC, 2009-2011). Excellent writing, and very unique.

i was looking for this comment. such an underrated show

I concur. This was definitely a great one. It certainly provides a lot of food for thought.

Some of the information in the Doctor Who one is wrong. It started in 1963, it was only revived in 2005 (you put 2006), and it’s been going for 39 seasons, as of June 2022

Thanks for letting me know! I updated the article accordingly.

Advanced tickets are not required; simply get your spot in line about 30 minutes before the next showtime and you should be good to go.

Location: Animal Kingdom (Africa) Show Duration: 30 minutes Show Times: 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, 5 PM, and 6 PM (subject to change) Disney Genie+: Yes, this is a Genie+ attraction

2. Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!

Following the closure of the original Finding Nemo – the Musical (2007-2020), we were concerned that one of the greatest Disney stage shows out there might be gone for good. Fortunately, the show resurfaced in 2022 in a new format, now known as Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!

In our opinion, the show still ranks up there with The Festival of the Lion King as the best live stage show/musical at Disney World. And like its counterpart, performances of Finding Nemo are held in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Just head to the Theater in the Wild (DinoLand U.S.A) about a half-hour before showtime and you should be seated without a problem.

This 25-minute live musical is based on the beloved Disney Pixar animated film Finding Nemo (2003) and performs multiple times daily. It’s about ten minutes shorter than its predecessor, so smaller kids are less likely to become listless during the performance than before.

The show’s original musical numbers — which take direct inspiration from lines in the film — include “ Go With the Flow ,” “ Just Keep Swimming ,” “ In The Big Blue World “, and “ Fish Are Friends, Not Food. ”  The music was composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the powerhouse team behind the music of Disney’s Frozen and Frozen II .

For the original design of the first musical, Disney tapped Tony Award-winning director Peter Brosius and production/puppet designer Michael Curry (who designed puppets for the stage version of The Lion King, as well as Epcot’s Tapestry of Nations parade and Universal’s Tales of Beedle the Bard) to create this magical production. Many of those elements remain in the new show.

Like The Festival of the Lion King , no advanced tickets are required for this show and it’s included in your park admission at no additional charge. The songs, cast, puppetry, and digital backdrops of the show are captivating and magical. This stage show is one-of-a-kind and not to be missed!

Location: Animal Kingdom (DinoLand USA) Show Duration: 25 minutes Show Times: On the :30s most of the day (subject to change) Disney Genie+: Yes, this is a Genie+ attraction

3. Beauty & the Beast – Live on Stage

If you are a fan of the classic Disney movie Beauty and the Beast – or its Broadway musical version – then you will not want to miss this enjoyable live stage show re-creation at Hollywood Studios . Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage uses artistic set design, costuming, and choreographed dancing to immerse you in the world of Belle and the Beast. The Broadway-style musical showcases an array of enchanting songs from the movie.  Guests a free to sing along with their favorite characters so bring your A-game!

Beauty and the Beast – Live On Stage is included (free) with park admission. The show is brief (no more than 25 minutes) and plays several times throughout the day. Get in line early and secure your seat up near the front row.

Location: Hollywood Studios (Sunset Blvd) Show Duration: 25 minutes Show Times: 11 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM (subject to change) Disney Genie+: Yes, this is a Genie+ attraction

4. For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration is a musical stage show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show is based on the 2013 animated Disney movie Frozen and features songs from the film.

First Time in Forever is essentially a 25-minute retelling of Frozen’s plot with Anna, Elsa, and other favorite characters from the movie appearing on stage. The most enjoyable moment comes when cast members encourage the entire audience to sing along to “ Let it Go .” Not surprisingly, most people know the word by heart and enthusiastically join in the chorus.

The show is currently located at the Hyperion Theater in Echo Lake. It runs on the hour throughout the day so Genie+ reservations should not be necessary. For the First Time in Forever is appropriate for all ages and is included with park admission.

Location: Hollywood Studios (Echo Lake) Show Duration: 25 minutes Show Times: 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM,1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM,5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:30 PM (subject to change) Disney Genie+: Yes, this is a Genie+ attraction

5. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

Debuting all the way back in 1989,  Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is one of Disney World’s oldest stage shows. The live stage performance is based on the wildly successful Indiana Jones film franchise and includes live reenactment scenes and stunts from the franchise’s first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark .  This live-action show was even produced by George Lucas himself!

The show may seem a bit dated (and your kids may not even know who Indiana Jones is!).  However, it’s action-packed, the stunts are daring, the explosions are fiery,  and adults will feel nostalgic as they hearken back to watching Indiana Jones movies in their youth.  There is so much to love about this particular show that it never seems to get old or go out of style and kids love it just as much as the adults.   Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is a lot of fun and audience members (18+) are even brought on stage as extras. What’s not to love?

Location: Hollywood Studios (Echo Lake) Show Duration: 30 minutes Show Times: 12:00pm, 1:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:45pm, and 6:00pm Disney Genie+: Yes, this is a Genie+ attraction

6. Fantasmic!

Disney World’s version of the popular live stage show Fantasmic! opened in 1998 and has long since been a Disney favorite.  This nighttime spectacular takes place at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater (nearly 7000 seats!) and is chock full of Disney magic.

The storyline takes you into the imagination of Micky Mouse and features a great musical score, pyrotechnics , lasers, water screens, floating barges, and dozens of other Disney characters. In total, there are over 40 actors performing during this 25 minute Hollywood Studios show. Be warned: guests in the front rows are bound to get wet!

Fantasmic! wasn’t really updated much from the time it opened until it closed (along with everything else at Disney World) due to COVID-19. However, the November 2022 reopening brings multiple enhancements. This is a must-see nighttime show to cap off your day at Hollywood Studios.

If you are looking for a unique way to enjoy the performance, consider booking the Fantasmic! Dining Package . This VIP experience gives you the chance to dine at one of 5 select Hollywood Studios restaurants , and then avoid the long lines and head straight to your reserved seating at the show.

Location: Hollywood Studios (Sunset Blvd) Show Duration: 25 minutes Show Times: typically 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM (check app for updated info) Disney Genie+: TBD

7. Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire

Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is a major stage show at Magic Kingdom featuring Mickey Mouse. Originally opening in the summer of 2016 as Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire , this entertaining live outdoor show is performed right on Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage . The stage is elevated so you should be able to view the show from most areas around Main Street USA’s Central Plaza.

Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy are joined onstage by characters from Frozen, Tangled, and Princess and the Frog.  It’s an entertaining 22-minute show with a catchy musical score from popular Disney films. Unlike many other shows on the list, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire doesn’t have a flashy hi-tech set with pyrotechnics and lasers. However, this show is quite possibly the most Disneyesque stage show in all of Walt Disney World because of its iconic setting and list of classic (and new) Disney characters.

Locations: Magic Kingdom (Main Street USA) Show Duration: 22 minutes Show Times: Typically late morning and early afternoon (see app for specifics) Disney Genie+: N/A

Held every fall during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival , the Eat to the Beat dining package includes reserved seating for a performance by a popular musical act at the America Gardens Theatre, along with a meal at one of several sit-down restaurants in EPCOT.

The International Food & Wine Festival is an extremely popular festival, especially with locals. Choosing to reserve a dining package guarantees you prime seating for the concert which could be a great advantage, especially for popular performers.

The International Food & Wine Festival runs from mid-July to mid-November.

7. Candlelight Processional Dining Package

The Candlelight Processional offers one of the most popular Disney World dinner shows.

The Candlelight Processional is hands down my family’s favorite EPCOT experience! Held during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays , the Candlelight Processional is a beloved retelling of the Christmas story, featuring a celebrity narrator, a local choir, and a 50-piece orchestra .

When you choose to make the Candlelight Processional a dinner show you can choose a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant. Our favorite restaurant to enjoy before a night at the show is the Garden Grill in the Land Pavilion!

EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays is the shortest festival at EPCOT, running for only 4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hollywood Studios Dinner Shows

The next park where you can enjoy a dinner show is Hollywood Studios. This park has several unique dinner shows you can enjoy with the whole family.

8. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

The Sci Fi Dine-In is a unique dinner show at Disney World.

This restaurant is designed to look like a drive-in movie theater from the 1950s , complete with vintage cars as tables. The cars come in several sizes and can accommodate up to 8 people. Classic sci-fi movie clips are shown on a big screen while you dine on American cuisine such as burgers, ribs, and milkshakes.

TIP: Each car seat holds two diners and everyone in the car faces forward toward the screen. Be prepared to not be sitting across the table from your dining party if you are dining with more than one other person!

9. Fantasmic! Dining Package

Fantasmic has a dining package available to turn the experience into dinner and a show.

Similar to the dining packages in EPCOT, the Fantasmic! dining package includes a meal at a participating restaurant. Participating restaurants include Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and The Hollywood Brown Derby.

Disney World Dinner Shows: Frequently Asked Questions

The Biergarten in the German Pavilion

Will Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Return?

Held at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the Spirit of Aloha was a show that celebrated the vibrant culture of Hawaii. Unfortunately, the show never reopened after covid shutdowns and now will be permanently shut down . Instead, Disney is building a new Vacation Club tower on the land that once occupied the Luau Cove where the show took place.

Are Disney Dinner Shows Appropriate for Children?

Yes, many dinner shows are family-friendly and geared toward children . The exception to this is Jellyrolls at the BoardWalk Resort, which is a bar for adults only. It is important to keep in mind that some shows may have loud noises or flashy lights that could be overwhelming for younger children.

Do Dinner Shows Require Reservations?

It is recommended to make reservations as soon as possible, as many dinner shows can book up quickly. Reservations can typically be made up to 60 days in advance. Some of these experiences, such as the Happily Ever After Seats and Sweets, do require payment at time of reservation.

Are Dinner Shows Allergy Friendly?

Disney has a reputation for being accommodating to those with allergies and dietary needs, and their dinner shows are no exception. Without a doubt, Disney World dinner shows offer allergy-friendly options for guests with dietary restrictions . Guests with specific dietary needs should inform their server or the restaurant in advance. Restaurants will do their best to accommodate. Whether you’re gluten-free, have a nut allergy, or have any other dietary restriction, you can enjoy the magic of Disney World dinner shows worry-free.

Live Shows on the Disney Wish: A Full Review

Sharing is caring!

Grand Hall on the Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of activities , unlike what guests will find on any other cruise line. The Disney Wish, DCL’s newest ship , offers some fresh & unique offerings not found on the other four ships. Let’s review the live, Broadway-style, shows on the Disney Wish.

The Walt Disney Theatre

Entrance to the Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line features awarding winning stage productions across its entire fleet. The Disney Wish is no different, featuring three incredible shows inside the Walt Disney Theatre. Spanning three decks, this 1,274-seat theatre is inspired by scenes from Fantasia , with an enchanted forest theme. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including projection mapping and a Dolby Atmos 3D audio system, which is a first of its kind at sea! Just outside the theatre, on Deck 3, guests can purchase refreshments including popcorn, candy, soda, and alcoholic beverages, at Preludes.

Preludes bar on the Disney Wish

While the theatre is capable of hosting movie viewings and onboard acts like comedians and musicians, it will primarily be used to feature three stage shows: Disney Seas the Adventure , Disney The Little Mermaid , and Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular . The Walt Disney Theatre features an amazing cast of live performers. You’ll be in awe of the acting, singing, and dancing. Not to mention some amazing puppetry, lighting, and sound effects.

Each show is performed twice on its given evening. Once around 6pm for guest with Second Dining, and again around 8:30pm for guests with Main Dining. This allows all guests the opportunity to view the show before or after their assigned dining time. Guest can see shows times in the DCLNavigator app, or on boards right outside the theatre. While the theatre is big enough to hold everyone who wishes to view the shows, guests wanting to seat front and center should plan to arrive around 30 minutes early.

Disney Seas the Adventure

Disney Seas the Adventure Musical on Disney Cruise Line

During the first evening of your sailing, the Walt Disney Theatre welcomes you to enjoy Disney Seas the Adventure . This brand-new show debuted with the Disney Wish and should not be missed! Grab a seat and be prepared for a journey through some of your favorite Disney stories! While Captain Minnie is busy setting up a surprise for the ship’s guests, Goofy takes over the helm and steers the Wish into waters unknown!

Captain Minnie Mouse meets guests on the Disney Wish

Does Goofy have what it takes to keep the ship on the right course, or will he wander off? This show is filled with so many of the most beloved Disney songs and characters. Goofy travels down the Eastern Australian Current where Crush & Squirt demonstrate how to go with the flow. Elsa, Merida, & Moana show him that he can command his own journey by remaining brave. Tiana teaches him that hard work is what it takes to get to where he wants to go. And Hercules is there to remind him that he has the strength to take on any challenge. By the time confetti is raining down during the finale, you’ll be ready to dance and sing along.

Moana on the Disney Wish

Disney Seas the Adventure is the type of show that brings people back to Disney Cruise Line over and over. It is the perfect blend of amazing live performances, Disney storytelling, and nostalgia from your favorite Disney movies. Some of the other ‘jukebox’ musicals featured on the other ships can feel like a hodgepodge of random songs thrown together. This one though has a clear story with a powerful message, blended with amazing music.

Who should watch

Everyone! This is a show that everyone in your sailing party will love. Whether your sailing with your whole family, or enjoying an adults-only getaway – guests of all ages will enjoy the upbeat music and seeing their favorite characters. It is a perfect way to kick off your sailing. You could watch this show every time you sail on the Wish and it would never grow old!

Disney The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid musical on Disney Cruise Line

Another brand-new show for Disney Cruise Line is Disney The Little Mermaid . This modern-telling of a Disney classic opens on a group of travelling storytellers who have stumbled upon a treasure-chest. Full of human trinkets of course – whozits & whatzits included! The storytellers are so inspired by the chest’s belongings, they bring the story of The Little Mermaid to life. While the story has been modernized, guests will recognize all their favorite songs and characters from the original film.

New arrangements of beloved songs “Part of Your World”, “Under the Sea”, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls” are stand-outs. The set design and use of projection mapping transform the theatre into an enchanting underwater world.

While the show features some impressive puppetry and incredible vocal performances, it does fall a little flat in some areas. The story is so familiar that it can feel stale at times and some of the “reimagination” doesn’t seem to be fully conceived. The transition from storytellers to Little Mermaid characters and back is a little unclear and may leave younger guests confused. During one scene, Ursula is lifted up by a large robotic arm in an attempt to show her growing into a large monster. This is a call back to a similar scene in the movie. But it comes off as clunky, and well robotic. The show has a lot of promise and with a few minor tweaks, we think it could be a stand-out show for DCL.

Everyone who has never seen it before. Considering this show is new to the Wish, even the most seasoned DCL sailors have likely not seen The Little Mermaid in the Walt Disney Theatre.  It still has all the wonderful qualities Disney Cruise Line shows are known for – powerful signing, fantastic choreography, amazing sets, and Broadway-level production value. After seeing it you’ll can judge  if you’ll want to watch it again or not.

Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular

Set of Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular onboard the Disney WIsh

Looking to go on an adventure to a whole new world ? Well then Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular is just for you! Based on the 1992 animated film, the show opens at the entrance of the cave of wonders. Here we meet Jafar and Iago who are struggling to find a diamond-in-the-rough capable of retrieving the magic lamp. From there guests are taken on a familiar magic carpet ride through Agrabah.

Aladdin needs help from the Genie to get Jasmine to fall in love with him but to also defeat the Jafar. Even more so than The Little Mermaid , Aladdin feels very similar to the original, just in a condensed format. The show does feature an original song “To Be Free”. This a solo performed by Jasmine that was introduced in the Disney California Adventure’s Hyperion Theater production of Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular.

Aladdin & Jasmine take a magic carpet ride on the ceiling of the Keg & Compass on the Disney Wish

Musical numbers are great but some of the design and special effects feel very outdated. During “One Jump”, Aladdin exits the stage only to come back from up high on a visible cable moving in slow-motion across the stage. This is meant to replicate his big jump from the movie, but it does not translate well to the stage. And while it’s more comedic than the other DCL shows, the Genie character feels forced and over-the-top.

While it is a decent show, we think it would be better reimagined based on the live action Aladdin starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott to give it a fresh spin. Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular is also featured on the Disney Fantasy, though minor updates were made before it debuted on the Wish. We also missed our favorite monkey – Abu – who is not featured in the show at all.

DCL First-timers & musical theatre lovers. If this is your first time sailing with Disney, and you want to get the full experience – you should make an effort to see all the performances in the. Likewise, if you are someone who appreciates musicals, particularly Disney ones, you’ll enjoy this re-telling. However, considering the shorter itineraries (3- & 4-nights) that the Wish is currently sailing, it may be hard for you to find the time to do everything. If you want to skip one of the shows – in order to participate in other activities – this is the one to miss.

Final Thoughts

Disney Cruise Line gathers some of the most talented performers from across the world. Their performances alone are worth the time to check out a show in the Walt Disney World Theatre. The shows presented on Disney ships are also so unique when compared to the rest of the cruise industry. Walt Disney World Parks in Orlando Florida Complete Guide

P lanning a Disney World Vacation gets complicated for many because Walt Disney World isn’t just one place. In fact, covering over 40 sq. miles, the Disney World Parks combined is the size of San Francisco. Spanning 4 theme parks, two water parks, 30+ resorts, and a shopping center. As a result, unlike other vacations, this one is more than just buying tickets, booking a hotel and showing up. Luckily, we’re hear to break it down, so that you can understand the layout of Disney World Parks in Orlando Florida, and get a handle on how much time you need to cover it all. Consider this your complete guide to the theme parks in Disney World.

We’re sharing the important rides, and restaurants in each park, so that you can make a plan to do all your favorite things on your next trip to the parks. As one of the major theme parks in Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney World sees about 58 million people a year. With most vacationers planning between 7-10 days per visit, there is so much to do that you typically won’t get it all in. Therefore we always recommend a few tips to help you make the best decisions when it comes to planning your vacation.

  • Review the Disney World Event Calendar to check what events, and crowds may look like for the dates of your visit.
  • Decide How Many Days for Disney World you’d like to plan. While it’s a huge resort, how long you stay is up to you and based mostly on what you hope to do while you’re there.
  • If this feels overwhelming to you, consider using a Disney Travel Agent to help you create your best vacation. Authorized Disney Travel Planners offer their services for FREE and is a great resource, if you’ve never visited before.

Walt Disney World Theme Parks

We’ve said it before, Disney theme parks in Orlando, Florida are multiple places that see millions of visitors a year. Luckily all these places are connected by complimentary Disney Transportation to help get you around Walt Disney World. Here are the places to visit on your trip.

Theme Parks

Walt Disney World has four theme parks, each with their own theme, rides, restaurants, and shows.

  • Magic Kingdom Park : Home to Cinderella’s Castle, Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantasyland. Disney’s most popular park with over 25 attractions.
  • EPCOT Park : Walt Disney’s original concept for a community of tomorrow, EPCOT includes the World Showcase, Festivals, Spaceship Earth and areas honoring Nature, Technology, and Celebration.
  • Animal Kingdom Park : Home to over 2000 animals, Animal Kingdom includes animal habitat trails, animal shows, Pandora, and rides like Expedition Everest, and Kilimanjaro Safaris.
  • Hollywood Studios Park : Disney’s Original MGM Studios park, this park honors old Hollywood, Star Wars and Toy Story. Home to churros, light sabers and the Tower and Terror.

Water Parks

The Water Parks at Disney World are typically open on opposite schedules throughout the year to allow for cleanings and refurbishments. The Water Parks at Disney require an additional ticket.

  • Typhoon Lagoon : This Disney Water Park is themed as a tropical oasis with a lazy river, surf pool and water slides. However, it’s been hit by a “typhoon”, causing a bit of chaos.
  • Blizzard Beach : Featuring a Santa Claus on vacation storyline, you can find “snow” at Blizzard Beach, a snow monster and even the snowgies from Frozen.

Other Places at Disney World

These places at Disney are open to the public and do not require a park ticket to visit.

  • Disney Springs:  The shopping center at Disney Springs includes stores, restaurants, and live music. It’s also home to the Splitsville bowling alley, a Movie Theater and the Cirque de Soleil show.
  • Disney’s BoardWalk: The Boardwalk includes a variety of restaurants, beaches, and recreation. It’s also home to 3 Disney Resorts; Disney’s Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn.

Magic Kingdom Park

Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando is home to Cinderella’s Castle and opened in 1971. By far the most famous of the Walt Disney World parks, it is, however, also the smallest. Magic Kingdom includes Main Street U.S.A. inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri, and popular classic attractions like It’s a Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean. This Park consists of six themed lands combining everything old, with everything new. Featuring classic rides like the Mad Hatter Tea Party in Fantasyland alongside the newer attractions like TRON LightCycle Power Run in Tomorrowland. Magic Kingdom has the most rides of any Walt Disney World Park and even though it’s the smallest will take the longest to get through get everything offered here.

Magic Kingdom Resorts

The Disney World Magic Kingdom theme park is near several resorts that get you close to the action. If you’re looking for hotels near Magic Kingdom, you have a couple of options. Easy transportation via the Monorail allows for easy access to and from the park from the Disney Monorail Resorts. These resorts include Disney’s Contemporary Resort , The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and the Polynesian Village Resort.

You can also grab a boat from Magic Kingdom to the nearby Wilderness resorts. Both Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are a quick boat ride to the park, and offer a nature filled alternative to a typical Disney hotel experience.

Magic Kingdom Restaurants

Magic Kingdom is filled with restaurants. Unfortunately, restaurants at Magic Kingdom are not usually the best, and we always recommend heading to the Monorail Resort restaurants instead. However, if you’re planning to stay in the park to eat, we suggest Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, and The Crystal Palace. Home to Cinderella’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest , these are some of the hardest to get Disney Dining Reservations at Walt Disney World. They are also some of the most expensive, and we don’t feel they’re worth the cost.

If you’re looking for something easy and cheaper, you can check out the Best Quick Service Restaurants at Magic Kingdom. Again, the theme park food at Magic Kingdom is not the best, so we try to stick to things that are simple. Pinocchio’s Village Haus has flatbreads, and Friar’s Nook has great potato barrel Bowls.

Magic Kingdom Rides

Of all the parks, you most need Disney Genie+ for Magic Kingdom because there are so many rides. And waiting in line for rides throughout the day is near impossible when crowds are typically the worst at this park. Popular Rides at Magic Kingdom include the Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain . The newest ride at Magic Kingdom, TRON, requires a Lightning Lane or Virtual Queue Board Pass. Check out the Magic Kingdom Park Checklist for all the rides to plan for!

Magic Kingdom Disney Characters

Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell, and Disney Princesses are all available to meet at Magic Kingdom. These Disney Character Meet and Greets don’t typically have the longest lines, but if they are a priority for you, be sure to plan for them! You can also catch Donald and Daisy, Winnie the Pooh and more Disney favorites in this park. Lines are lowest for characters in the morning and between 2-4 PM. Check out the list for where to find Disney Characters in Magic Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom Shows and Parades

Magic Kingdom is famous for its Festival of Fantasy Parade and the fireworks show, Happily Ever After . Both are Disney Must Dos at Magic Kingdom, and you should plan for it! This means a 3pm parade in the park, and an 8 or 9pm Fireworks Show to stay for in the evening. Be sure to check the My Disney Experience App, for showtimes.

Magic Kingdom Events

Best known for it’s seasonal events, you can attend parties at Magic Kingdom and Disney After Hours events. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in the fall and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in December are very popular and an excellent way to take advantage of rides with fewer guests in the park, exclusive snacks, and seasonal fun!

EPCOT

EPCOT combines the worlds of technology, nature, and culture, bringing life to Walt Disney’s original idea of an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. While his original idea included self-driving cars, solar-powered homes and an international marketplace, the current version of the park is changing with times. As a result, EPCOT is in the midst of several construction projects beginning to complete. Grounded in an overarching goal of creating four neighborhoods within EPCOT these themed areas further solidify the desired look and feel of each experiential land.

These four neighborhoods are World Celebration, acting as the central spine of the park, World Nature showcasing everything on the land and sea that makes up our human experience, World Discovery, featuring technology and space with a focus on innovation and World Showcase comprised of multiple countries sharing cultural experiences in each pavilion. From engineering your own vehicle at Test Track to strolling through nature in the Moana’s Journey of Water attraction, there are many things to explore in EPCOT.

EPCOT Area Resorts

Resorts near EPCOT Park can be found in the Disney Boardwalk Area. Disney’s Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk Inn are all within walking distance of the park. You can also find Disney Marriott Hotels in the EPCOT area, giving you even more options of places to stay. Disney’s Swan, Swan Reserve and Dolphin are also other hotels near EPCOT if you’re looking to stay close by. Other resorts included in this area are Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort, both accessible via the Disney Skyliner, with a station at the EPCOT International Gateway.

EPCOT Restaurants

Restaurants at EPCOT combine a lot of different cuisines, as a result of the World Showcase. Home to signature dining experiences at Monsieur Paul and Le Cellier, you don’t have to spend a fortune for a good meal. We most like Via Napoli for the pizza, La Cantina de San Angel for the empanadas, and Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie for everything else. You can also see all the Disney Princesses at once for character dining at Akershus in Norway. Many of the restaurants here are good and you can find even more Quick Service Restaurants at EPCOT that are budget friendly.

EPCOT Rides

Most known for Spaceship Earth at the entrance of the park, there are many popular rides in EPCOT worth riding. Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Soarin’ are favorites, and usually require a ride strategy or lightning lane pass if you’re hoping to stay out of long lines. Favorites like Test Track, and Living with the Land are also here. Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind is a thrill rollercoaster that brings back to the past, with fun music. It does require a Virtual Queue Boarding Pass to snag a place in line or a Lightning Lane Pass if you’re hoping for a shorter wait. Check out the EPCOT Park Checklist for details on all the rides.

EPCOT Disney Characters

Characters in EPCOT include Snow White in Germany, Aurora and Belle in France, Mulan in China, and Donald Duck in Mexico, among other. With more characters than you realize be sure to check out the list of EPCOT characters to make sure you have your favorites on the list.

EPCOT Shows and Parades

EPCOT doesn’t have parades, but they do have a nighttime spectacular called, Luminous . Luminous combines music, pyrotechnics and fireworks for a nightly show featuring familiar Disney music and a message about our shared humanity. You can see this show nightly, for a dazzling display on the World Showcase Lagoon. Truly an amazing fireworks show you can even see it from the beaches of the Boardwalk and nearby hotels.

EPCOT Festivals

Walt Disney World hosts 4 festivals at EPCOT park annually. Each festival has it’s own theme, specialty foods, shows, performances and merchandise. Here are the festivals you can see every year at Epcot. First, the International Festival of the Arts happens from January through mid-February. Second, the Flower and Garden Festival takes place from March through mid-June. Third, you can visit the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival late July- November. And Fourth, the International Festival of Holidays in December. Check out all the details on each festival at EPCOT.

Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom covers 500 acres of landscape comprised of six areas featuring unique cultures, wilderness, and over 2000 animals. The Oasis and Discovery Island features lush landscapes, shops, and the Tree of Life as the centerpiece of the park. Bringing the lands of Africa and Asia to the forefront, Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers winding paths through the Maharajah Jungle Trek, and the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. DinoLand U.S.A features the world of the past, while Pandora World of Avatar brings guests 4.4 million lightyears away. Here you’ll find Walt Disney World’s most popular ride, Avatar Flight of Passage.

Animal Kingdom Area Resorts

If you’re heading to Animal Kingdom, know that this area of the Disney World Parks, is somewhat remote. Still, there are 5 Disney Resorts in the Animal Kingdom Resorts Area. While none of them are within walking distance, and you can only travel to Animal Kingdom by Bus, here are the Animal Kingdom resorts to know. The Disney All-Stars Resorts ; including All Star Music, Movies and Sports are nearby. As are Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge . These resorts only offer Disney Bus transportation, but if you’re hoping to finding somewhere close to Animal Kingdom to stay, then it’s typically a 10-15 minute bus ride from these resorts.

Animal Kingdom Restaurants

Offering a variety of unique cuisine, hailing from Africa, Asia and even Pandora, the food at Animal Kingdom is unique and flavorful. The Tusker House Restaurant offers character dining with Mickey and Friends in their Safari Gear, and Nomad Lounge serves some of the best drinks and appetizers to be had in the park. If you’re looking for the  Best Quick Service Restaurants at Animal Kingdom , then Satu’li Canteen offers delicious power bowls to keep you going through the day. Animal Kingdom is also great for specialties like dumplings at Mr. Kamals, and Pineapple Dole Whip Cake from Tamu Tamu.

Animal Kingdom Rides

The most popular ride at Animal Kingdom is Pandora’s Flight of Passage . This flight simulator ride has consistently long waits, typically about 1-2 hours long. As a result this is an ideal ride to grab a Lightning Lane Pass for, or to rope drop as soon as the park opens. Due to Animal Kingdom’s shorter hours, there is less time to ride rides. However, there are a few main ones you should be sure to have on your Animal Kingdom Must do list. Kilimanjaro Safaris takes you across the savanna so you can see the animals and is a must see for many at the park. Expedition Everest gets you face to face with a Yeti, and Dinosaur is a must do for anyone eager to outrun a T-Rex, courtesy of a rickety old jeep. Get a full list of Animal Kingdom Rides in the Checklist.

Animal Kingdom Disney Characters

Some of the most unique Disney characters can be found at Animal Kingdom Park. Moana, Pocahontas, Tarzan, Russell and Dug, and Kevin from UP! are all available for meet and greets throughout the year. Plus, you can also see Donald Duck, Launchpad McQuack and even meet Mickey and Minnie in their Adventurer outfits. Animal Kingdom characters can also be seen in flotilla boats sailing along the discovery River throughout the day. A fun treat if you’re not up for standing in line to see them close up. Check out all the Disney Characters at Animal Kingdom you can see on your next visit.

Animal Kingdom Shows and Parades

Due to Animal Kingdom’s early closing, usually by 6pm there aren’t typically nighttime spectaculars , like the other parks. However, on nights when they are open later you can watch the Tree of Life Awakenings Show, which also offers a holiday version during December. Throughout the daytime hours, Animal Kingdom does not offer parades, but does include a steady stream of Disney Character Flotillas that sail Discovery River. Check the My Disney Experience App for showtimes. You can generally see up to 5 different character floats in a day.

Animal Kingdom Events

Disney After Hours Events are sometimes offered at Animal Kingdom throughout the year on select dates. Giving guests the chance to see Pandora at Night, and take advantage of a nighttime safari on the savanna. You can check the Disney Website and the app for times when specialty events are available. Note, that they are in addition to your park ticket, so plan to budget extra if you’re hoping to snag a spot at a late night event.

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios has had many names over the years, but the focus of honoring cinema has stayed the same. Featuring some of Disney’s most popular film franchises like Toy Story, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the Muppets, Hollywood Studios has rides and experiences perfect for both kids and adults. Home to popular rides like Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Hollywood Studios offers a variety of fun for everyone in the family.

Hollywood Studios Area Resorts

Nearer to EPCOT Park than you realize, and actually connected by a walking path from EPCOT to Hollywood Studios, the Hollywood Studios Resort Area includes the EPCOT resort area as well. As a result, all of the BoardWalk Resorts are within walking distance of Hollywood Studios. In addition, there are a few other resorts connected to Hollywood Studios via the Disney Skyliner. These Skyliner Resorts include Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the Riviera Resort, Art of Animation and Pop Century. As Skyliner resorts guests staying at any of these 4 locations can take the skyliner to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

Hollywood Studios Restaurants

Dining at Hollywood Studios is much like it is at Magic Kingdom, somewhat sub-par. While Woody’s Lunch Box over in Toy Story Land is fantastic for a quick lunch, and the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge is wonderful for an upscale meal, other options inside the park are basic theme park fare. The exception my be the Ronto Wraps over at Ronto Roasters, which are a must-try Disney Snack. You can check out our Best Quick Service Restaurants at Hollywood Studios to make sure you’re only picking the best ones.

Hollywood Studios Rides

Home to Rise of the Resistance , Mickeys Runaway Railway and Slinky Dog Dash , there are plenty of rides here that are popular and fun. Though lines do tend to be long, if you plan the busiest rides in the morning, you’ll be able to fit indoor rides, like Star Tours, and Toy Story Mania, in during the hot afternoon hours. And don’t overlook the shows; Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Indiana Jones Stunt Show Spectacular , and Muppets 3-D are all fun additions to your Hollywood Studios Day. check out the List of Attractions at Hollywood Studios for everything to see and do while you’re there.

Hollywood Studios Disney Characters

The main characters to see at Hollywood Studios include the Pixar Pals, Star Wars characters, and Woody, Buzz and Jessie in Toy Story Land. You can also see Mickey and Minnie at Red Carpet Dreams, if you’re looking for a Hollywood version of your favorite power couple.

Hollywood Studios Shows and Parades

While Hollywood Studios doesn’t typically have parades, you can sometimes see cavalcades, or motorcades throughout the park. You can also catch the Green Army Men and Stormtrooper March performances that are shown intermittently throughout the day.

The main shows at Hollywood Studios are Fantasmic and Wonderful World of Animation. Fantasmic is show that takes place at the outdoor theater, complete with moat, pyrotechnics, fireworks, and storytelling as Mickey and the Disney Villains have a showdown. The Wonderful World of Animation show takes place on the facade of the Chinese Theater. Featuring memorable Disney scenes and songs, this is an honor to the animation of Disney.

Hollywood Studios Events

Events at Disney’s Hollywood Studios often include Disney After Hours, on select nights throughout the year. And during the holidays, you can catch Jollywood Nights , which is a holiday party after hours in parks. Both require additional tickets and get you access to the park after closing.

If you have to watch one Disney+ movie this April, stream this one

Blair Marnell

It would be understandable if Disney+ subscribers feel a little jealous of Hulu in April. That’s because the new additions to Hulu include The Big Lebowski , The Fifth Element , Hellboy , Ocean’s 11 , Jumanji: The Next Level , and even Wonder Woman . The only major Disney+ movie to debut in April was Wish . For families with kids or animation lovers, Wish might be enough. But when picking the one movie to watch on Disney+ in April, we decided to dive a little deeper into the streaming catalog. That’s how we settled on our choice for the one Disney+ movie that you have to watch this month: Aliens of the Deep .

  • It’s one of James Cameron’s passion projects

It shows us amazing creatures that live in the sea

It imagines alien life on other worlds.

Between the premiere of Titanic  in 1997 and Avatar in 2009, director James Cameron threw himself into the realm of underwater exploration and directed or co-directed two documentary films. Cameron’s first documentary, Ghosts of the Abyss , is not on Disney+. But Aliens of the Deep has a permanent home here. This movie was originally an IMAX release and it was filmed in IMAX 3D. The streaming experience may not be able to replicate that, but Aliens of the Deep is still visually dazzling even in 2D. And now, we’ll share the three reasons why you should watch Aliens of the Deep this month.

It’s one of James Cameron’s passion projects

Cameron can be a polarizing figure for some, and there are still a few who haven’t forgiven him for jokingly claiming to be “King of the World” when Titanic won Best Picture and Best Director at the Oscars. But when it comes to deep sea exploration, Cameron doesn’t bother to hide his excitement for it. Cameron isn’t the only narrator or host in this movie, but he is very much at the forefront of it.

  • Stop! And watch these 3 great movies leaving Netflix by May 1
  • 5 movies leaving Netflix in April 2024 you have to watch now
  • 5 movies leaving Prime Video in April 2024 you have to watch

For this documentary, Cameron and his co-director, Steven Quale, accompanied a team of NASA scientists for a series of deep dives in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans to get a better idea of what life is like miles beneath the surface of the water. Cameron may not be the most eloquent on-camera personality, but his sense of wonder and adventure is infectious.

It’s important to note that the picture above is real, but we’d be hard-pressed to fully describe or explain much about the creature shown within it. Without the advanced underwater vehicles used in the film, humans would never have gotten a glimpse of this creature or the other life forms that live miles beneath the surface of the ocean. These may be the closest things that we have to aliens that live on our world, and it’s simply breathtaking to see them.

Cameron and his companions are often at a loss for ways to describe them as well. This is truly a journey into the unknown, and it’s worthwhile for that aspect alone.

Now, the above picture is CGI, because there are no underwater cities like this on Earth. But one of Cameron’s pet theories that he shares throughout Aliens of the Deep is that the creatures deep within the oceans may offer us a guide to other life forms in the universe that live in oceans far away from the sun. That’s why NASA scientists were taken on Cameron’s diving expeditions.

There’s no way to test Cameron’s theory with our current technology, but late in the movie, Cameron does offer up a vision of what alien life and civilization might look like if it developed underwater. It’s just a fantasy for now, but in retrospect, it’s easy to see the influence that this may have had on Cameron’s work in Avatar: The Way of Water .

Watch Aliens of the Deep on Disney+ .

April was a bit of a low-key month for movies, but there was still plenty of pleasure to be had at the theater. Indies were well-represented with the surreal sci-fi movie The Beast while multiplexes enjoyed the social commentary and IMAX action set pieces of Alex Garland's appropriately divisive Civil War.

May, however, will be a different story, as the summer season is set to begin on May 3 with the premiere of The Fall Guy, an action comedy starring everyone's favorite actor of the moment, Ryan Gosling. May will also see apes conquesting another planet, a biopic about Amy Winehouse that's already enraged people on social media, a different take on the slasher movie genre, and one of the most highly anticipated prequels of the last decade. Oh, and Garfield's back. Again. Which of these are worth seeing? Find out by checking out our top three picks out of all the movies scheduled for release in May 2024. The Fall Guy (May 3)

April 2024 has been a pretty big month for horror or horror-adjacent movies at the box office. The First Omen was much better than many suspected, and now we're getting Abigail from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. If you loved Abigail's combination of comedy and horror, then you might be surprised by how many other movies hit that same sweet spot.

Abigail, which tells the story of a group of kidnappers who inadvertently kidnap a vampire, is both a horror movie and a comedy, and its ability to strike that tonal balance has been a hallmark of Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett's career to date. Here are three other movies that achieve a similar feat and are worth your time. Ready or Not (2019) READY OR NOT | Red Band Trailer [HD] | FOX Searchlight

Finding a great movie to watch can, somewhat perversely, be more difficult now than it was in an era when you had fewer choices. Now, you have access to a ton of streaming services, and each of those streaming services has plenty of great films, as well as a few terrible ones. Amazon Prime Video is one of those services filled to the brim with great movies, so much so that it can be hard to pick one.

We've selected three great, underrated movies that are now available on Prime Video, but that may not seem like obvious movies to pick. If you're looking for something great to watch, but don't want to wade through all the choices, these three movies are an excellent place to start.
