Best Virtual Guided Tour Channels on YouTube

- Virtual Tours
Virtual travel was one of the most interesting developments to take shape during COVID.
With millions of people trapped at home, alternative forms of travel grew. Thanks to a campaign from the Google Arts & Culture crew, dozens of high-profile museums and landmarks from around the world began launching virtual tours.
Since then, the trend has diversified.
While you can still find virtual tours of all stripes online (and from a variety of creators and providers), thereâs a new focus: guided tours.
Unsurprisingly, some of the best virtual guided tour channels are on YouTube. Hereâs what you need to know about this growing trend, along with the best virtual guided tour channels on YouTube.
What are virtual guided tours?
Guided tours explore cities, towns, and regions from around the world. Some also explore less urban areas, including national parks and remote monuments.
The goal is to showcase the very best of the area in order to educate viewers and entice them to visit. If youâre uncertain about a potential destination, a guided tour is the best way to get a feel for a placeâvirtually, of course.
Given its reach and accessibility, YouTube is home to the most high-quality virtual tour channels in the world. Each channels a unique angle and specialty.
From scooter tours to haunted location countdowns, virtual guided tour channels on YouTube cover just about every interest.
Looking for a way to travel the world without leaving your couch? Here are the best virtual guided tour channels on YouTube.
Best virtual guided tour channels on YouTube
Prowalk tours.
Prowalk Tours delivers seriously high-quality videos. Thanks to its multi-media efforts, viewers are treated to 4K footage from pedestrians, drones, and even scooters.
Their goal is to visually immerse remote viewersâand they do it exceedingly well.
The channel also goes above and beyond to showcase each tour route. I really enjoy that feature, as it helps you get a feel for a city spatially and make sense of your tour.
Even the audio quality stunned me. If you like cinema-quality tours, Prowalk Tours is your channel.

Ever considered bundling your virtual tours with treadmill workouts?
I knowâitâs a bit of a stretch. (Get it?) But City Walks can turn any workout session into a highly unique travel experience. The channel offers city tours on foot, along with commentary.
City Walks includes a narrative from the channelâs host, exploring interesting factoids and also helping viewers situate themselves in the city.
That can go a long way in helping viewers make sense of what theyâre seeing⌠and also distract them from that treadmill workout.

4K Urban Life
You guessed itâ4K Urban Life is a channel that films cities in 4K quality.
More specifically, videos are in ultra-HD. That high production element is thanks to the fact that this channel has professionals from Pro Art Inc. behind it.
That being said, the videos are overlayed with a basic playlist. I donât mind the music and lack of commentary becauseâit bears repeatingâthe videos are insanely high quality.
That type of visual immersion is enough to let you get lost in a city. To keep going with this thread, I was pretty surprised by how much I liked the lack of map and narrative. Itâs pure sensation here.

Want an unfiltered look at destinations around the world?
WannaWalk has a pretty hefty cultural element to it. The solo traveler who runs the account has one goal: to take you onto the streets to see what he sees. No context, no explanations.
Iâm going to be bluntâIâm a little wary of this channel. It seems clickbaity with videos like âWorst Smelling Street in Indiaâ that offer little explanation.
Iâm also hesitant to support channels that involve filming strangers living in their daily lives. (Itâs a slippery slope into â poverty porn â.)
But Iâll let you decide for yourself whether you vibe with WannaWalk. The channel has a solid following and an extensive list of unique videos. Additionally, you can learn a few facts along the way when you enable closed captioning.

Watched Walker
Art and history fans rejoice! Thereâs a guided tour channel just for you!
Watched Walker is a solo traveler (like WannaWalk) who got his start in London. Since then, the creator has ventured out to other popular cities that showcase the best in art and history.
I like the focus on London hereâitâs a massive city. The account takes viewers to unique places and unique times, like the West End when itâs abandoned due to rain showers or a central London stroll during the Euro finals.
Aside from London, Watched Walker has tons of content on Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid.

An indeed insightful collection of travel youtube channels one would wish to watch.
Thank you very much theplanetd.com to telling us about inspiring travel channel.
This Guy “Indigo Traveller” is really a worthy mention. Gives us an insight into North Korea
Way late to the game but I’d recommend Indigo Traveller. He puts out lots of great content, goes to a number of less poplar destinations (including NK), and seems like a genuinely awesome guy to boot.
Check out Chasing Everywhere! She travel the world full time and makes videos of unique places she finds. Really beautiful drone footage and great tips and tricks! youtube.com/chasingeverywhere
Thanks for letting us know. We’ll definitely check them out! This post is a year or so old, so it is time to update it for sure. Cheers Deb
Hey there! When/if you update your YouTube adventure travels to watch list, maybe consider QE Adventures (short for Quinn and Ethan Adventures).

Hi, Dave and Deb.
Have to say a relay wonderful blog đ Something similar what we have started our self, but we are aiming for local travel experience in our small but very beautiful country Lithuania. As I see you haven’t been here. You are very very welcomed here. Although we are small but that does not mean we don’t have anything to show đ Would be super so see your experience of our countr here đ
Cheers, Auste and Justas @ TravelingLithuania
Thanks! We’d love to come to Lithuania in the near future.
What is with the popularity contest? This is the same boring list that everyone publishes. I’m so tired of seeing the same people on these lists, two of whom should not be included!
You are more than welcome to add some names. We asked if anyone had someone to add. So put them on the list. These are the people we follow and enjoy. Also, there is another list that Christine wrote for us just before we compiled this one. that we talked about at the beginning of this blog post. (if you read it) And the reason we decided to do a part two. Sorry if you are not on it, I am not familiar with your videos, but I’ll take a look. I don’t know everyone out there. But I try.
Ah, I just went and took a look at your YouTube travel channel and see that you haven’t posted in two years. That would be the reason I hadn’t thought of you. Good luck if you start posting again. PS, I deleted your comment made under the John Doe email address as I see it is from the same IP address as you, (within minutes of each other) and nobody needs to read a second complaint saying the same thing by you under a pseudonym. But I left yours up because I feel that people have a right to their opinion. Cheers!
Great collection, getting entertained and inspired to travel. Thanks
Amazing collection of channels here! I really dig the aggregation and attribution going on. Thanks for sharing these channels with us!
Thanks for the recommendations, I will check these out!
So my channel isn’t quite as robust as many of the ones mentioned here, but it does highlight a part of the world that none of these Youtube channels even go near. Check it out! I’d love to hear your feedback.

Five Easy Steps To Make great 4K Travel Walking Tour Videos
Last Updated on March 22, 2024 by gregor
4K Walking Tour Videos are gaining more and more popularity on video-sharing platforms like the popular video platform YouTube . I watched some of these Walking Tour videos because they were recommended to me, and as someone who really likes walking tours, I decided to try making one video myself.
My first 4k Walking Tour video(s) turned out badly. They were either too bright or too dark or kept constantly refocusing.,⌠They went straight into the trash on my computer. It was a little frustrating, but obviously, Iâm not going to be perfect on my first try.
I was out again, trying different cameras and different settings, and after a few walks, figuring out what is the best camera for Walking Tour and what are the best camera video settings for filming this kind of 4k Walking Tour videos.
A 4K walk video often showcases a walking tour or journey filmed using a camera capable of recording in 4K resolution. These videos aim to provide viewers with a more immersive and visually stunning experience, as the higher resolution allows for greater detail, sharpness, and overall image quality. The term is commonly associated with content creators who produce walking tours or vlogs filmed in 4K resolution to offer a more lifelike and engaging viewing experience.
5 easy Steps to Make 4k Travel Walking Tour Videos
Ready to share your travel adventures with the world in amazing 4K quality? Hereâs a super simple guide to creating captivating walking tour videos:
Step 1: Gear Up (Equipment)
- Camera: Â While a fancy camera is great, you can start with a smartphone that shoots in 4K. Many modern phones offer fantastic video quality.
- Stabilizer: Â Shaky footage is a no-go. Invest in a gimbal (a small handheld stabilizer) for smooth, professional-looking shots.
- External Microphone (optional): Â Built-in mics can pick up unwanted noise. An external mic improves audio quality, especially in windy or crowded areas.
Step 2: Plan Your Route (Pre-Production)
- Pick a theme: Â Focus on a specific area or highlight hidden gems.
- Map your walk: Â Plan your route beforehand, considering interesting sights and stops.
- Research local tips: Â Learn some fun facts or historical tidbits to share with viewers.
Step 3: Hit the Streets (Filming)
- Walk at a steady pace: Â People watching your video will be virtually walking with you, so maintain a comfortable speed.
- Narrate as you go: Â Share your thoughts, interesting facts, or personal anecdotes about the places you pass.
- Capture variety: Â Donât just film straight ahead. Get close-up shots of landmarks, interesting details, and even food!
Step 4: Editing Magic (Post-Production)
- Editing software: Â There are many free and paid editing programs available. Choose one thatâs user-friendly for you.
- Cut and trim: Â Remove unwanted footage or long pauses. Keep your video engaging and concise.
- Add music and text: Â Upbeat background music and titles/captions enhance your video and keep viewers informed.
Step 5: Share Your Adventure (Distribution)
- YouTube: Â A popular platform for travel videos. Create a channel and upload your masterpiece!
- Social Media: Â Share your video on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media platforms.
- Travel Blogs: Â If you have one, add your video to your blog to showcase your destinations.
Bonus Tip: Be yourself and have fun! Let your personality shine through, and your passion for travel will be contagious!
Videos with 4K Quality
A 4K walk typically refers to a walking video or footage that has been recorded and produced in 4K resolution. In the context of video resolution, 4K refers to a display or content with a horizontal pixel count of approximately 4,000 pixels, providing higher image clarity and detail compared to lower resolutions.
A â4K walkâ video often showcases a walking tour or journey filmed using a camera capable of recording in 4K resolution.
4k Walking Tour video cameras:
Dji pocket 2 + creator combo.
Camera settings (they are overall easy to find in the app and in the menu)
Image Quality: 4K
Frame rates:
- â 25 or 50 (for slow-motion only â to be slowed down 50% when editing): for Europe (PAL in general)
- â 24 or 48 (for slow-motion only â to be slowed down 50% when editing): for US (NTCS in general)
Personally live in Europe and I slow down everything that I shoot, only sometimes do I keep a normal speed, so my go rate is 50fps. Slowing down the video gives it a more magical look and will reduce the shakes from the camera
Antiflicker : auto
you need to set it before activating pro mode!
Pro mode: enabled
This will give you access to manual settings of exposure
Color profile : d-cine like
Note: only if you plan to color grade in the post (which I highly recommend), if not then stick to the standard
Shutter speed/ISO:
I always set it to Auto . You could fine-tune by setting it manually, but the AUTO Mode on the DJI is pretty amazing.
White Balance: AUTO
I am so far happy to shoot with continuous autofocus, but be aware that it sometimes fails and you will need to point to the subject you want to have in focus.
GoPro Hero 10 + Sennheiser MKE-400 Microphone
The Sennheiser Microphone is a perfect companion, not only for your DLSR. With the GoPro MediaMod, you can set up the GoPro 10 with the Sennheiser MKE 400 within a couple of minutes. If you are really serious about your audio quality it is a very good investment. #mke400
Resolution: 4K-50 | Â
Lens: WIDE or LINEAR or LINEAR + HL
HyperSmooth: High
Pre-Walking Tour Preparation
Preparation is the mother of success! This is also related to the making of 4K Walking Tour Videos.
Define your Storyline for the Audience
Before you even select the walking route, I am really trying to find a good storyline for the audience, which I am going to tell as an overall âarching themeâ for the walk. As we all know, telling a story is much more captive than just wandering around without any âpreparation & planâ. (Which I did at the beginning, to be honest;-
Here are some examples of 4k Walking Tour Video StorylinesÂ
- Vienna Night Walking Tour â Top things to see at night
- Berlin â Walking Tour if you just have 4 Hours to spend
- Budapest Travel Guide â Must See Places Walking Tour
- Vienna Food Walking Tour
Find the Best Places that set your Walking Tour Video Screenplay
So once you have your âstoryâ you want to tell, then you need to find the best places, spots, and areas,⌠Which do you want to be included in the walking video? Sometimes the story can be âGreatest Public Parks to Relax in XXXXâ or just âAn After Business sunset walkâ. This story sets your screenplay and the frame you need to plan the walk accordingly.
Video elements that will support your Walking Tour Video Story
If you know youâll be visiting the St. Stephenâs Cathedral in Vienna, for example, youâll want more than just a video from the top. Hereâs an example of supporting walking tour video elements you might make for this specific experience:
- Establishing shot of the St. Stephenâs Cathedral from the street (Push in)
- Shot of the base of the St. Stephenâs Cathedral (Rise up)
- Shot of purchasing your ticket (Over shoulder camera)
- Shot of taking the elevator to the top (Push in)
- Panning shot from the top overlooking Vienna
Pin the places in Google MAPS to create the Walking Tour
Once I have my story I create a tour on Google Maps, pinning all the places I intend to visit during my walk.Â
Top Tip: Please make sure you plan enough time for your tour, get comfortable clothes and shoes, your gear with enough spare batteries (for the GoPro), and most importantly get into a good positive energetic mood, you will need that believe me đ
Video Walking Tour â Tips and Tricks
Get out of your comfort zone.
Filming videos on the street requires a bit of courage at the beginning. Especially if you are a bit introverted like me, it took a couple of walks until I realized that the vast majority of the people actually donât care about your video recording on the street.
Very few people stare at you, so give them a bright smile, or simply ignore them. I never had anybody complaining or even yelling at me. It helps if you respect their privacy and do not run with the video camera explicitly into a person, but take a step or move left or right so you can record other interesting sceneries like beautiful architecture.Â
There is also an easy way to blur peopleâs faces in post-editing your video. (More below in the Editing section)
Walking Tour Video Speed
The walking speed is important because you want to be able to see things that youâre not familiar with. The walker may have been through that area time and time again, but you havenât. Keep in mind that the speed of the walk also relates directly to the smoothness of the camera, as I mentioned above.
Video moves : I use during my walk
- Push in â walk towards the scene â good entry move to establish location and show landscape
- Pull out â walk away from the scene â good exit move to close the shooting from the scene
- Round â use active track and move around the person or subject
- Rise up â show scenery and subject
- Reveal â show subject, from the other object â good for transitions
- Tilt-up / down â use for anything interesting above the scene, like trees
- Low mode â shoot for example the foot of a person while walking on the beach
How do you film a smooth walking Video?
Walk slowly and bend your knees slightly. Keep concentration high, and use the Highest Stabilization settings on your camera
FOUR â Walking Tour Video Editing & Software
There are many Video Editing Programs on the market. Editing my Walking Tour videos, I use the software program Final Cut Pro X which runs on macOS only. There are many alternatives also for Windows, if you search on Google, I am sure you will find the one that fits your needs; including tons of Tutorial Videos on YouTube.
Blurring People Faces in post-editing
The one thing special to walking tour videos is that you also capture people and want to protect their privacy by blurring their faces. Here is a video that shows you how to do this in Final Cut Pro X
EASIEST Way To Blur Faces | Final Cut Pro X Tutorial
FIVE -SHARING Your Walking Tour Video on YouTube
I upload my walking tour videos on my Gregor Sideris YouTube Channel . There are other video-sharing Platforms like Vimeo, but I think YouTube is vastly accepted and billions of people have access to it.
Creating your own YouTube Channel is easy, there are a lot of tutorial videos available on YT.

Spend Hours Walking Around the World's Great Neighborhoods with These Addictive YouTube Channels
Narration-free virtual walking tours are racking up millions of views as they scratch our travel itch in isolation.
By Jason Cochran
September 29, 2020
By now, many of us have started to have travel daydreams. What we wouldn't give just to unwrap a tiny bar of hotel soap, to drag a piece a luggage over cobblestones, or to tell the flight attendant no, we don't want coffee right now, thanks.
We have just the YouTube channel for you. Watched Walker films leisurely strolls through the world's great streets.
That's it. Watching the channel's high-definition virtual walking tours, which have garnered view counts into the millions, you head down streets with a steadied camera, exploring whole neighborhoods on foot.Â
As you gently go, you hear the sounds of conversation and commerce in passing. Sometimes, you amble through famous markets . Other times, you might be taken to explore London's legendary Selfridge's department store for half an hour (see below).
A year ago, we might have shrugged at the concept. This year, we're fighting the urge to leave these videos running all day, like a radio.
And we could: Watched Walker has well over a hundred choices, most of them between 20 minutes and an hour long. There's no goofy host, usually no narrationâjust the sweet zen of you-are-there exploration.
Watched Walker posts new videos on Monday and Thursday. Right now, the host is marooned in his home city (like most of us), so there's a lot of London being shown. Fortunately, that's a destination rich with video opportunities. (Get ready for coverage of holiday decoration seasonâlast year's Oxford Street at Christmas walk has racked up nearly 1.5 million views so far.)
Spend an hour and change lazily strolling around London's West End and Covent Garden on a rainy Saturday night:
Lots of other European destinations have been captured by the account's cameras, too, including Paris , Barcelona , Madrid , the beaches in the South of France , and even the trams of Lisbon .
Virtual walking videos evoke the sights and sounds of travel, so they can scratch the travel itch for some of us. Fortunately, these videos now make up a bit of a subgenre on YouTube.
Similar long-form wandering videos are posted by the channels Rambalac (lots of Japan), Wind Walk (which leans toward the western U.S. and east Asia), ActionKid  (who posts a lot of Taiwan and New York City , but with narration), and Wanna Walk (strong on Latin America and South America), among others.
"Walking around" videos are almost like being thereâand they're whetting our excitement for the trips we're going to take in the future. They remind us of the way we explore on a real vacation, but without the blisters.

12 Incredible Youtube Museum Channels You MUST Watch
During this time of stay-at-home order and travel restrictions, art galleries and museums have jumped on the virtual gallery bandwagon. If you’re an art lover who doesn’t love to read , these Museum Youtube Tours are just the things for you! Many museums and organizations have a massive backlog of online videos that take you through their collections. In these videos, you get introduced to new artists and learn DIYs based on historical artistry. And best of all, they let you in some secrets only the curators know! If you want a little break from the every day and feel like a virtual escape, read on for my favourite Youtube Museum Tours part of my series on virtual travel .
British Museum
The British Museum in London, England, is where you can find over two million years of human history and culture. It contains some world-famous objects, including the Rosetta Stone , the Parthenon sculptures and Egyptian mummies .
Curator’s Corner
Their youtube series called ‘ Curator’s Corner ‘ introduces you to the various curators working in the museum. They take the time to show you different interesting objects from their specialties. And most of the videos are set, literally in their “corner” or office space. This is just another little treat since you feel like you are being let into their private world. Never to be seen otherwise. One of my favourite curators is Naomi Speakman , who is the curator for late medieval Europe . She loves exploring the fantastical world of medieval bestiaries and the mythical creatures found within. Seeing as these items are so old it’s amazing how she breathes new life into them!
Curator’s Tour
Since many museums’ exhibitions were not viewable to the public when the world shut down, the curators turned to online video to take viewers on a tour of their displays. These tours come in both shorter videos and live tours, which are hour-long specials hosted by various experts. It’s such a unique way to view these incredible exhibitions despite not being there in person.
The MĂźtter Museum
The MĂźtter Museum is America’s Finest Museum of Medical History . The museum aims to help the public appreciate the mysteries and beauty of the natural human body. The museum hopes to help people learn more about the diagnosis and disease treatment throughout history. Inside the museum, you’ll find some of the most incredible collections of anatomical specimens, medical instruments, cabinets of curiosity and more!
While the museum is not for the faint-hearted, their videos are an extraordinary adventure! Especially when we are amid a world-wide pandemic, their exhibitions on the 1918 Influenza Pandemic seem almost eerily apt. Their half-hour-long museum tour is an excellent introduction to what the museum is all about and worth your time to check out!
National Portrait Gallery
London’s National Portrait Gallery has been one of the most important art institutions since 1856. But today, with modern technology, we are being invited into the museums to discover the stories behind the world’s greatest paintings and artists. Their online youtube channel contains interviews with leading art experts, live recordings of talks and events, and insights into our latest exhibitions.Â
10 minutes Talks
Their 10-minute talks series is one of my favourites for anyone who wants to get a little primer into art history but doesn’t want to get overwhelmed with information. These short segments study just one painting by one artist. Different curators and producers from the museums lead you through the artwork, the hidden meanings and any historical context which lends itself to studying the painting with more intention.
5-Minute Meditation
Another fascinating tidbit that they have been producing during the pandemic are these 5-Minute Meditations . This series is all about blending mindfulness and art appreciation. You grab a water or coffee and sit back with the gentle voices of the curators guiding you through the lines and textures of the painting as you have moments of self-reflection throughout. I have to admit; they are so soothing, they might even put you to sleep!
Talks for All
Lastly, if you are looking for something a little more in-depth, you can sit back and enjoy one of the longer videos called Talks for All . These lectures were initially recorded in the gallery in front of an audience, but now you can attend as an audience of one from the comfort of your own home. Something is oddly comforting about hearing the murmur of laughter or contemplation from the unseen audience in front of the lecturers. It makes you feel like you are really there.
The Field Museum
In Chicago, the Field Museum has been producing videos with the Chief Curiosity Correspondent for Youtube for the past eight years! Hosted by Emily Graslie, former volunteer of the University of Montana Zoological Museum, her heart burstingly charming personality guides you through all different parts of their collection. In such a large museum like the Field Museum, there are plenty of aspects of their collection that aren’t even on display in the museum but hidden away in the archives. Well, these videos put you behind the scenes in some of the unseen parts of the museum. One of my favourite episodes is all about their rare book room! There are also such topics as the Whale Warehouse , museums taxidermy , meteorites and more!
The Wallace Collection
The Wallace Collection is a museum in London, housed in the grand Hertford House in Manchester Square. This was once the permanent residence of the Seymour family, the Marquesses of Hertford. The Marquesses of Hertford, along with Sir Richard Wallace, for whom the museum is named after, amassed a vast collection of fine and decorative arts in their lifetime. These ranged from furniture, arms and armour, porcelain and Old Master paintings. Sir Richard Wallace bequeathed the collection to the British Nation in 1897 so that everyone could enjoy the collection.
Today, it really can, as much of the collection has been documented on video for all to see. Their playlist on the collection highlights is an excellent intro to all the wondrous things these collectors amassed over time.
Van Gogh Museum
The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is a museum dedicated solely to the works of Vincent Van Gogh . Famously, Vincent van Gogh only ever sold one painting during his lifetime, ‘The Red Vineyard.’ Today he is one of the world’s most notable painters, with his works selling for millions upon millions of dollars.
Throughout the pandemic, the Van Gogh museum has not only been creating entertaining videos for you to watch but tutorials for you to follow along with and learn as you go. Their series called ‘ Let’s Paint Like Van Gogh ‘ helps even the most beginning painter learn the simple techniques Van Gogh used to create his vivid and powerful masterpieces. They manage to simplify iconic parts of some of his paintings to allow you the chance to create your own at home!
In another series called ‘ In the Picture ,’ curators take you through their 2020 exhibition, which tells stories about identity and image, in 75 portraits.
Frick Museum
The Frick Collection in New York City houses the personal art collection of industrialist Henry Clay Frick . The museum is even located inside his old house on the Upper East Side. In addition to some old master paintings, the collection also includes fine furniture, decorative arts and more. Their 12-minute video introduction allows you to step inside the doors and look at the house almost as it was when Frick left it.
During the pandemic, they created many videos that allowed people to view their collection through a myriad of different themes. One of those series’ was called ‘Travels with a Curator,’ where curator Xavier F. Salomon , takes you on a virtual trip around the world. In the series, they study museums around the world and how they connect with the Frick Museum.
Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum , located in Amsterdam , is the Dutch National Museum. Inside its great walls are pieces dedicated to the arts and history of Amsterdam. At the start of the pandemic, the Rijksmuseum wanted to give viewers worldwide access to the secrets of their galleries, so they started the series #RijksmuseumUnlocked . Throughout the series, various curators lead you through different parts of the museum to study themes and hidden meanings behind highlights from their collection.
Their newest series is called ‘ Rijksmuseum in 60 seconds ‘. These videos allow you to learn more about their collection in just one minute!
The American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History , located in New York City, is one of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions. Since opening its doors to the public in 1869, the museum attempts to help people discover and interpret information about the natural world around us. My favourite video series of theirs has got to be ‘ Shelf Life ‘! This series is relatively old, starting in 2014. The series is for curious minds and features curators opening doors, drawers and hidden away rooms to study rarely-seen items in the museum’s collection.
The State Hermitage Museum
I have long dreamt of visiting the Hermitage Museum , delving into the dark Russian winter only to wander the halls of this incredible fortress of beauty. The State Hermitage Museum  is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia  and is the second-largest art museum in the world! The collection  was founded by Empress Catherine the Great  and contains over three million items! And while you might not be able to view each one of those items in person, you can experience it through an AMAZING virtual tour!
In May 2020, Apple created a five-hour cinematic journey inside the Hermitage museum. Throughout the videos, you are lead through 45 galleries, view 588 masterpieces, and wonder at the beautiful live performances which take place inside some of their most sacred spaces. Even more incredibly, the video was shot in ONE CONTINUOUS TAKE! The music composed throughout the video is so hauntingly beautiful, and I cannot recommend watching this piece more! You don’t need to watch all five hours, but I think once you start watching, you’ll find yourself entranced.
The Victoria and Albert Museum (also known as the V&A ) is the world’s leading museum of art and design. Founded in 1852, the V&A promotes innovation and communicates the importance of good design. The collection contains over 2.27 million objects, dating from 1600 to the present. This video, hosted by curator May Rosenthal Sloan , explores vintage citrus fruit wrappers as new forms of advertising in the 19th century. This was the video that first started my binging of the V&A’s youtube channel. The packaging feels so ephemeral and yet like a work of art all at the same time.
So many objects in the V&A’s collection are small trinkets. And while seeing them in person is a beautiful experience, being able to study them in microscopic detail on video is a unique experience. One of my favourite videos is called ‘ Spotlight on Jewels ‘. Academy Award-winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne , jewellery designer Stephen Webster , British Vogue jewellery editor Carol Woolton and V&A curator Clare Phillips come together in this feature to reveal their favourite items from the collection.
The MET or Metropolitan Museum of Art is America’s most famous art gallery. Located in the heart of New York City , the collection is home to over two million works of art! with so many objects in their collection and a slew of curators to keep it all running, the content they are producing online is superb! Their ‘ Art, Explained ‘ series is a beautiful way to pick your favourite items from the collection and learn a little bit more about them in a concise amount of time! There are over 80 items that have been documented in the videos , so there are lots to choose from.
Another series which I love is called ‘ MET Stories ‘. This 12-part series features stories from all different kinds of people, from chefs, fashion designers and even lawyers, telling stories about how the MET influenced or changed their lives.
Throughout the pandemics, the MET has also been creating videos that spark their viewers creativity. This is everything from learning how to make a soap carvings, sculpturing clay pots and my personal favourite, creating your cabinet of curiosity !
Hopefully these entertaining channels give you something to watch and inspire your mind throughout the rest of this pandemic. While we have to stay at home, we can still explore the world through these virtual travels !

Explore the Entire Worldâfrom the Comfort of Quarantineâwith 4K Walking Tours
in Video - Politics/Society | March 31st, 2020 3 Comments
Many of us right now are shelÂterÂing in place, or in quarÂanÂtine, dreamÂing of that day when we can once again travÂel the world. And that day will come, friends, that day will come.
But until then, there are already sevÂerÂal YouTube chanÂnels set up to proÂvide you with a chance to go on walkÂing tours around the world, with only the sounds of the enviÂronÂment in your headÂphones.
I was alertÂed to this by good friend Phil Gyford , who found this via Sarah Pavis (via FaveÂJet ), and proÂvidÂed sevÂerÂal links to this large selecÂtion of virÂtuÂal travÂelÂer . Your mileage my vary, as they say, but hereâs some trips I found parÂticÂuÂlarÂly relaxÂing in these anxÂious times.
Above, I startÂed here with this walk through PimÂmit View Park in Falls Church, VirÂginia. Despite an umbrelÂla dipÂping into view, I found this a relaxÂing walkÂing in the rain through a verÂdant wonÂderÂland, with occaÂsionÂal pausÂes to admire the flowÂing streams. LoveÂly.
From here I was feelÂing a bit peckÂish, so I bopped over to the PhaÂtra MarÂket in Bangkok to have a look at the varÂiÂous foods on offer. LazyÂTourist, the perÂson who filmed this, nevÂer strays too long at any stall, but knows enough to linger.
A YouTuÂber called 4K Urban Life proÂduces the occaÂsionÂal walkÂing tour of EuroÂpean cities, and here they show us TusÂcany, startÂing in a very non-descript sideÂstreet until venÂturÂing out into the heart of old Italy. This one is nearÂly four hours long, so bring a botÂtle of wine but skip the sunÂscreen. Enjoy the lack of social disÂtancÂing, and pray for Italy.
Night has fallÂen and itâs time to venÂture out into the West End of LonÂdon in this evocaÂtive video from Watched WalkÂer. Itâs rainy and wet, but no matÂter, the streets of LonÂdon look loveÂly and this hour-plus takes us through âCovent GarÂden, LeicesÂter Square, PicÂcadilÂly CirÂcus, Oxford CirÂcus, Oxford Street, CarnÂaÂby Street and Soho.â
Now letâs drop in on one of New York Cityâs most popÂuÂlar tourist desÂtiÂnaÂtions, Times Square. Wind Walk TravÂel Videos has a lot of these short (30 mins or less) visÂits to AmerÂiÂcan locaÂtions, and this is one of their most popÂuÂlar. Try not to think about how empÂty these spaces are now, and enjoy the ambiÂence, sketchy Elmo and all.
Hereâs RamÂbalÂac walkÂing ShinÂjuku at night, checkÂing out the side streets and testÂing out his binÂauÂrÂal mic. This is a treat with headÂphones on, so make this full screen and order in some ramen.
A final thought: recentÂly Iâve been focusÂing on 4K âremasÂterÂingâ (by way of AI) of turn of the (20th) cenÂtuÂry films , a look back to a difÂferÂent age. In these above videos, we can see the traÂdiÂtion conÂtinÂues, a fasÂciÂnaÂtion in watchÂing life go on as we sit and look into our devices. Think on both those long since deceased folk in the 1900s and a record of our once-norÂmal lives (only a month ago, as of this writÂing), and keep them both in your hearts.

The Best Highlight Videos of the 2023 Tour de France Are Amazingly Complete, and Even Better, Free
The official TdF YouTube channel has all the action without having to dedicate half of your day to watching the each stage.
If you didnât shell out for a Peacock subscription , or if you somehow just donât have 5-plus hours a day to spend watching all of the racing, the Tour de France YouTube channel has you covered. They distill each hour of action down to about a minute of summary footage. It really feels like youâre getting the Cliffs Notes version of the race without the lulls or the commercials.
Each stage gets a preview, and then highlights throughout the day, updated as the race unfolds. So if you, say, have to pop into a meeting at work, you can get a quick recap immediately about what you missed in that hour that could have been an email (weâve all been there).
For example, the stage 5 Tour de France YouTube coverage included nine videos with everything from a pre-race interview with Julian Alaphilippe, to a post-race recap with stage winner, Jai Hindley . We get caught up on each section of the stage, with all the crashes, close-calls, and sprints away from the peloton. An excellent way to stay in the know about all the action.
The Tour de France also has a TikTok , which has been giving us heartfelt, funny, and dramatic moments, both in the race and from the downtime before and after each stage. So far the Tourâs TikTok page (@LeTourDeFrance) has featured lots of funny faces and the lighter side of the most serious race on the planet.
And if youâre in the market for a little more sarcasm and analysis from a retired WorldTour pro, Phil Gaimon is also posting a daily 10-20 minute recap on his YouTube channel, which occasionally features guest voices, and maybe even an appearance from his hilarious dog, Creature.
Itâs the Tour de France! You can never have too much coverage! So watch it all and keep reliving the best moments.

YouTube Video Tours: Insights, Best Practices, and Why Renters Rely on Them
At a time when many renters are unable to see an apartment in person, 3D images, live online tours, and virtual home tours are among the most successful replacements for in-person tours. They’ve become essential to giving renters the option to continue their home or apartment search without physically leaving the house.
Adding YouTube video tours to your property listing is simple and effective, and you can make them right from your phone. Not sure how to create one yourself? Hereâs a step-by-step guide to creating an immersive YouTube video tour.
5-Step Guide to Creating a YouTube Video Tour
Before we get into the specifics of what your video tour should include, letâs get you set up for success. Here are the steps to take to get a YouTube video up and running and published on your listings.
- Step 1 : Download the YouTube app for your phone or navigate to YouTube in your laptopâs internet browser.
- Step 2 : Create a YouTube account or sign in to your existing one .
- Google has easy instructions for recording videos on your iPhone, Android phone, or computer.
- Step 4 : Once you’ve finished your tour, press the red record button to end the video. Press the blue “Next” button in the top right corner. Make sure the video’s privacy is “Public” and click “Upload” in the top right corner. Your Youtube video tour is now saved to your “Library”, which is located in the bottom right corner of your phone screen.
- Step 5 : Click “Library” and click on the video you just took. Next, press the “Share” button, located just below the video. Click on “Copy Link”. Open a blank email and “paste” your copied video link into the email. Zumper clients can email their account manager directly to get their videos uploaded to each listing.
Creating a YouTube video tour is as simple as that. Using your phone or computer camera, this is a quick and simple way to get online tours up and running.
SEO and Its Importance
YouTube is the second-most-visited site on the internet. Posting a video to YouTube has some big perks. For example, did you know that your YouTube video tour can get 2-5 times more views if you can also get it to rank on Google? Here’s a breakdown of why SEO is important for YouTube videos and how you can get yours to rank using keyword research.
Creating a Captivating YouTube Video Tour
The difference between a successful video tour and an unsuccessful one is all in the details. When creating the video, keep these best practices in mind when creating a video tour to help yours resonate with renters.
- Vertical videos are recommended. Hold your phone vertically to shoot a video that will share easily on social media. During in-person tours, renters take in everything in the room, not just whatâs directly in front of them, so be sure to capture the whole apartment in your video tour.
- Don’t overthink it. A slow walkthrough of the apartment, showing the main rooms, storage spaces, and any special features , is exactly what renters want to see. Add some simple narration if you feel comfortable. One or two minutes is plenty. Here’s a great example .
- Consider creating video tours for each floorplan available so that prospective renters will know exactly what the floorplan they’re interested in looks like.
- Remember to capture any outdoor spaces that residents get individual access to , like a parking carport, balcony, and patio.
- Record the common areas that residents get to enjoy together, like the pool, on-site fitness center, or resident lounge.
- Use smart language. Include keywords that users might search for on YouTube in your video title and description.
