Albert Lee is one of the most respected and renowned guitarists in music history, having worked with The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris and The Crickets over his long and illustrious career. The British-born country-rock artist started his career during the emerging rock 'n' roll scene of sixties London, when he swapped bands with the likes of Jimmy Page and Chris Farlowe.

After moving to the U.S. and assimilating himself into the country music scene, Albert quickly garnered a reputation as one of the fastest guitar players in the business. He recorded a number of solo albums, and won a Grammy in 2002 for his contribution on 'Foggy Mountain Breakdown'. He continues to tour today, and plays his signature Ernie Ball Music Man Guitar.

For those who still visit the Albert Lee & Hogan’s Heroes website it is with deep sadness that we have to announce the passing of Brian Hodgson. Brian was a founder member of the band way back in 1987. He had suffered for some years with Parkinson’s disease, but his strong heart and eternal sense of optimism kept him going, when others would certainly have given in. Toward the end it became impossible for him to keep performing. He spent his last few months in care and eventually passed away peacefully in hospital listening to his favourite music with his daughter Jennifer by his side. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him: his wife Sylvia, children, grandchildren and all the members of the band, along with its many followers. It is a sad time indeed, but you will not be forgotten Brian.

Brian had a longstanding career in playing, songwriting and production and his credits included: Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Dave Edmunds, Shakin’ Stevens, Peter Sarstedt, Lonnie Donegan, Neil Innes, Sonny Curtis and Matchbox.

This multi-talented band features some of the top musicians in the UK.

Hogan’s Heroes was formed by its namesake Gerry Hogan almost 30 years ago, specifically to back Albert Lee. The band’s first gig took place in 1987 at Gerry’s annual festival for pedal steel guitar.They have played together on a regular basis since that time and as a result have become one of the tightest units in music.

He has worked with some of the world’s top artists, from Emmylou Harris to the Everly Brothers, Dolly Parton to Eric Clapton.In November 2002, at Eric’s request, Albert appeared at the star-studded Memorial Concert for George Harrison at London’s Albert Hall, and was featured alongside Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill and Eric Clapton at Eric’s 2007 Crossroads guitar festival. He is a member of Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, and fronted the band at the O2 arena on the night of the Led Zeppelin reunion concert.Albert is a Grammy award winning musician, whosetalents continue to be in demand by fellow performers throughout the world.

Albert fronts his own band Hogan’s Heroes, some of the best known and most respected Rock’n’Roll and Country musicians in Great Britain.Originally formed by steel-guitarist Gerry Hogan to play at his annual festival in 1987 (hence the name!), Albert Lee & Hogan’s Heroes have relentlessly toured Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, not to mention Finland, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Yugoslavia, plus of course Ireland and the UK.In April 1988 they starred at the 20th International Festival of Country Music at Wembley and at associated Country Festivals in Munich and Zurich. In June 1992 the band played Glastonbury Festival, the prestigious BBC 1 American Festival held at the Crystal Palace Bowl alongside good friends Little Village and Emmylou Harris.

They also appeared that year at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where their performance received worldwide TV and radio coverage. An appearance at The Prince’s Trust Concert at Wembley on the “Night of 100 Guitars” featured as special guest their good friend Dave Edmunds. The band even headlined The Yilas Jazz & Blues Festival in Lapland! They continue to work the festival circuit, in 1999 appearing both at Mad About Guitars (music live ’99) and at The Wirral Guitar Festival. In May 2000 the band headlined Martin Taylor's Kirkmichael International Guitar Festival. Coming right up to date, they went down a storm at Cropredy 2003, Fairport Convention’s annual festival, receiving much acclaim from audience and fellow artistes alike.

Also in 2003, Albert and the guys received a great response at the Stroud Fringe Festival (UK) and The Nidaros Blues Festival in Trondheim, Norway, exciting audiences in their usual manner.The band has also made many TV appearances all over Europe, including Live from Wembley (BBC), Town & Country (ITV), Later with Jools Holland (BBC), Kenny Live (RTE Ireland), Kelly Live (N. Ireland), In Concert (Yugoslavia), Ohne Filter (Germany), Go Kvall (Sweden) and the British Country Music Awards with Marty Stuart (BBC). They have two albums currently available on Heroic Records, "Live at Montreux", and the latest red-hot studio album "Tear It Up", which emphatically does what it says on the tin!

Albert Lee & Hogan’s Heroes additionally have to their credit two songs in the Richard Harris film 'Savage Hearts', which received wide acclaim at the Cannes International Film Festival. The band is renowned for attracting celebrities from the world of music to their gigs, each member of the band being well known and respected for their involvement in the music industry. Star names such as Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Don Everly, Lonnie Donegan, Chris Farlowe, Gary Booker, Marty Wilde, Nancy Griffith, Sonny Curtis and Rodney Crowell have all at one time or another jammed with the band to the sheer delight of both audience and band. 5-3-2024 Eric Clapton called Albert Lee , “The greatest guitarist in the world. The ultimate virtuoso. His skill is extraordinary, his ear is extraordinary and he’s gifted on just about every level”   Known for his lightning speed playing, Albert has played with some of the biggest names in the business. And doing that has made him equally at home in many styles of music, from blues to rock to country and beyond. Live, Albert is just plain stunning. He first came to prominence during a 1964-68 stint with British Blues and R & B stalwarts Chris Farlowe’s Thunderbirds . His reputation grew and he nabbed appearances on “The London Bo Diddley Sessions” for Chess and Jerry Lee Lewis’ “The London Sessions” . He later appeared on Don Everly 's “Sunset Towers” and Jackson Browne 's debut album. The mid seventies found him playing in the Joe Cocker Band and releasing his first solo album. In 1976 he replaced James Burton in Emmylou Harris' Hot Band on tour and played on her great seventies albums albums “Luxury Liner”, “Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town”, “Blue Kentucky Girl”, “Roses in the Snow” and “Evangeline”. In 1978 he joined Eric Clapton's band, where he recorded and toured for 5 years. All the while he found time to contribute his guitar-fire to three albums with Roseanne Cash , Dave Edmunds , Rodney Crowell , Nanci Griffith , Carlene Carter , and countless others. When the Everly Brothers reunited on September 23, 1983 at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Albert was on hand as guitarist and Musical Director. He continued in that role for over 20 years until the Brothers retired. Albert remains an occasional member of The Crickets , and tours regularly with Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings . Sugar Hill records released Albert’s solo efforts “Heartbreak Hill” in 2003 and “Road Runner” in 2006.  A summer 2011 jaunt with John Jorgenson prompted Albert to form his own U.S. band for the very first time. The Albert Lee Band includes John Thomas, aka  “J.T’, on keyboards, who played for 23 years with Bruce Hornsby. Bass player Will MacGregor has worked with the likes of the Pretenders, Pat Boone, Exene Cervanka and more. And Jason Smith brings both the subtlety of jazz and pounding pulse of rock to his drum stylings. The first ever documentary film about Albert Lee featuring original songs and documenting the history of Albert's career is in the works. It will feature interviews with many of Albert's family, closest friends and musicians documenting his life and career from his humble childhood in England, through becoming a professional musician at 15 years old, moving to America in the 1970's, touring the world with musical greats, right up to the making of the album he has always wanted to make. “Albert is in every sense of the word, a genuine guitar wizard" - Earl Scruggs "Albert is one of my all-time guitar gods..." - Brad Paisley “A brilliant guitar player.
