It’s been almost five years since Arctic Monkeys released  AM , the riff-rocking fifth album that completed their transition from teenaged punks to seasoned rock ‘n’ roll veterans. They’ve promised a new one  this year, and now they’ve affirmed that notion with a string of North American tour dates set for spring and summer.

A standalone performance at LA’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery in May will be followed by a series of three-show runs in the South (Raleigh, Nashville, Atlanta), East Coast (New York, Boston, DC), and Midwest (Pittsburgh, Detroit, Toronto). Tickets go on sale March 16.

Last week the Monkeys announced a run of European dates, their first gigs since 2014.

Arctic Monkeys Plot North American Summer Tour

Arctic Monkeys announced a North American summer tour. The brief trek launches May 5th with a date at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery. After a series of European shows, the indie rockers will perform a headlining slot at Delaware’s Firefly Festival, followed by nine more concerts in the U.S. and Canada.

Tickets for the new North American shows go on sale Friday, March 16th at 10 a.m. Additional information is available at the band’s website .

The quartet last performed in November 2014 during the promotional jaunt behind their fifth and most recent LP, the previous year’s AM . The band went on hiatus following the tour, and singer-songwriter Alex Turner released his second LP with the Last Shadow Puppets, Everything You’ve Come to Expect , in 2016.

“The other guys just had babies,” Turner told Rolling Stone that year of Arctic Monkeys’ break. “We’ll get back to it at some point.”

Buzz surrounding a new album has been building since last April, when drummer Matt Helders posted an in-studio Instagram photo of his drum kit surrounded by microphones.

The shows come in support of sixth album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino’, which was officially announced last week.

Arctic Monkeys are one of the best live bands in the world

Arctic Monkeys broke the internet in May with Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino , their long-awaited, long-titled album, released 5 years after AM .

They got schtick for their press release and Mojo cover shoot (where they were called accountants) and their space-age themed, esoteric album split social media - over whether it was too Pseud’s Corner (like on "Four Out Of Five": "The head of special effects in my mind’s eye / Hokey Cokey with the opposite sex"), or genius – we called it the band’s most cohesive album to date and certainly their most fascinating .

The Sheffield four-piece have always removed themselves from the sugar rush - remaining away from rolling updates and Twitter to and fros; instead, focusing and refining the material that works for them. It’s precisely why they’re one of the best live bands going. It’s why all of their UK dates sold out in Glastonbury timing, and why the O2 appeared small and walls could only be seen as cracks behind linings of people.

Against their set-up, downtown LA dive bar via The Late Late Show – they showcased a set that was as slick as it was immediate, balancing classics with mindful mentions of new material. Opener, "Four Out Of Five" fit in with ease amongst the juggernaut of hits, which propelled out one-by-one in breakneck speed. "Brianstorm", massive. "Snap Out Of It", huge. "Crying Lightning", phenomenal. "Do I Wanna Know?" was room commanding. Alex Turner with his newly shaved head , tinted glasses, grey suit and button down shirt ruled the stage with Nick Cave authority. All thrusts and Elvis movements, conversation and interludes were non-existent; it was all body talk.

"I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" sent the floorboards pulsating and shaking, with beers oscillating through the air, like a thousand indie discos colliding into each other.

There’s no one else who quite captures the adrenalin-fuelled ups and downs of nights out, heartbreak and lust quite like them. No one who can rival a band whose meteoric performances only get sharper and smarter. When it comes to live bands, the competition is few and far between.

Arctic Monkeys announce UK and Ireland tour dates for later this year, in support of new album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

Arctic Monkeys have announced a string of tour dates across the UK and Ireland in September.

The run of dates have been lined up in support of their latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino , which is due to be released on May 11 via Domino.

The first show will take place at Manchester Arena on September 6, with the final concert planned for the Newcastle Metro Radio arena on September 27. The band have confirmed that US pop-rock duo The Lemon Twigs will provide main support for all dates.

The new dates accompany the previously announced North American and European tours scheduled for this summer. Find full UK dates below.

The band will be performing at a festival in the US alongside other big names such as The Killers, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem.

Arctic Monkeys have confirmed their comeback by announcing their first tour date in four years.

The band said they will be headlining at Firefly Festival which takes place in Delaware in the US this June.

The rockers from Sheffield, who took to Twitter to reveal the big news, have hinted in magazine interviews that 2018 could also be the year of their sixth album.

Nick O'Malley, the band's bassist, said in an interview with magazine The Ride the band had secretly met up and started recording.

He revealed that he hoped a new album would be released in 2018 and that "if it isn't we've got problems."

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement over their long-awaited return.

One fan said: "Arctic Monkeys announcing their live return has just made 2018."

The indie group fronted by lead singer and songwriter Alex Turner, reached the top of the charts with all of their five albums.

The band have had massive hits, with I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and Do I Wanna Know being two of their best known songs.

The four members will accompany stars such as Eminem, The Killers and Kendrick Lamar as the music festival's headliners in June.

RoscoLED ® Tape Creates A Retro-Futuristic Setting For Arctic Monkeys

The rock band Arctic Monkeys recently completed their 2018 UK tour in support of their recent album Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino . The tour seduced the crowds with a mix of the band’s popular songs and tracks off the new album that were combined with stage aesthetics that matched the music they were playing. Lighting Designer Paul Normandale installed our RoscoLED Tape VariWhite inside several set elements to convey a retro-futuristic setting of their fictional Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino .

The stage set, produced by Brilliant Stages , featured almost 100m of RoscoLED Tape. Rosco’s high-quality LED tape was integrated inside a moving, hexagonal-shaped structure overhead, inside the set risers as pocket inlays, and it was used to illuminate the MONKEYS lettering on the top of the stage.

Designers at Brilliant Stages commented: “We really enjoyed working with the RoscoLED Tape. We have used it on numerous projects over the past few years. LED tape has an unreliable stigma attached to it in the touring world and so far, Rosco hasn’t let us down – even in the vigorous environments of rock ‘n’ roll touring.” Each reel of RoscoLED Tape VariWhite features a robust, 3 oz. copper heat sink - compared to the 1 ounce of copper found in most other LED ribbon products. The thicker copper base of RoscoLED Tape not only minimizes potential for damage to the electronic circuits during handling and installation, but it also provides efficient thermal management for the emitters, allowing them to run cooler and extend their lifespan.

RoscoLED Tape’s accuracy and reliability are the main reasons why Lighting Designer Paul Normandale chose it for this project. He said: “In essence, I wanted a reliable, tourable tape that provided warm and cold white consistently and accurately.” RoscoLED Tape VariWhite is available in two variants: 3000K - 6000K, and our unique, VariWhite Ultra that offers extra warmth with its 1800K - 6000K color temperature range.

Paul chose the 3000K - 6000K product as he alternated between warmer and cooler color temperatures to achieve the desired visual and thematic looks on stage. He also used several of our RoscoLED Variable PWM DMX Decoders to provide smooth, flicker-free control of the various areas where the RoscoLED Tape was installed. This enabled him to individually control the light intensity and color temperature of those areas to create the illuminated look he needed during the performance.
