escaping to bacara {beautycounter incentive trip}

It’s been a week now since being back from California.  On the plane back home, I thought to myself: “Well, that trip pretty much rocked my socks off!”  It was so.much.fun!  Not even exaggerating.

I want you all to catch a glimpse of what I experienced that weekend.  First let me tell you….  Beautycounter has an incentive trip every year.  I remember being new and seeing photos from last year’s incentive trip in Ojai.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be on an incentive trip some day.  It sure looked lovely though!

When they announced the trip this year, I said to myself… “Well, geez.  I’m going to try at least.  Heck, I’m going balls to the walls!”  😉 I had nothing to lose but so much to gain.  I’ve already come out of my comfort zone (and still am) throughout my year with Beautycounter.  You know when you’re a kid and your parents told you that you can be whatever you want to be?  I’ve learned I can be passionate and love what I do, even if I have no background in it….makeup, skincare, ingredients, or laws and regulations.  Drive and excitement is all I had when I started so I learned and am still learning everything else.  I’ve learned to have a voice….to ask, to inform, to educate (with confidence).  I’ve learned that if I believe in something, to go after it.  I’ve learned that being part of a direct sales/retail company is not a bad thing.  I’ve had so many supporters with only a few sprinkles of “haters gonna hate.”  The people that have supported me know that I’m just an average girl who found products and a mission that I adore and want to share with them.  That’s it.  I would never twist someone’s arm.  No one should ever be violent like that. 😉

Educators had 2 months to earn a spot.  It wasn’t easy.  Actually it was pretty darn tough.  There were times I wanted to throw my hands up and say “I’m not getting it.  I’m done trying.  I’ll try again next year!”  I wanted to, but I didn’t.  It’s so easy to give up.  Isn’t that how it is with anything in life though?!  No one ever wants to push themselves.  No one ever wants to put effort if it’s not achievable right away.  No one wants to take chances if it makes them feel uncomfortable.  No one wants to push through any obstacles.  Well goodness gracious, I don’t know about you, but I always tell my kids:  “If you want it don’t give up and work harder.  If you want it, you gotta earn it.”

storyboard062

Aug 1st, I earned my spot on this year’s Beautycounter Incentive Trip to Bacara.  144 earned it out of over 25,000 Educators.  I didn’t get this doing it on my own.  I couldn’t have done it without the support from my teammates, my mentors, my amazing clients, my friends/online community, my kids who rooted for me so we can do something fun every time I earned points, and especially my hubby, Blaine, who held down the household when I was out doing socials, opportunity events, and trainings.  It’s never a 1 person show with any business.  It’s a tribe and my tribe ROCKS!

Day 1….

If you’re Facebook friends with me, you already know I was having anxiety before going on the trip.  Anxiety is real and sucks.  It’s crazy to be so excited yet so anxious all at the same time about a trip I’ve been looking forward to for months!  Thanks for the prayers everyone!  I stepped onto the plane in Des Moines, and I was more comfortable and at peace.

What was in my carry on bag ( Jo Totes  “Gracie” camera bag)? 2 amazing books “ Closer to God Each Day ” and “ You are Bad Ass ” Beautycounter ‘s Rosewater Mist, lip sheer in Twig, lip gloss in Opal Beautycounter canvas pouch filled with my makeup Business Cards Laptop Fujifilm xt1 digital camera  with 35mm 1.4 lens (used this camera for the photo below and most of Day 2.  I completely forgot to bring my charger so iPhone pics the rest of my time there)

storyboard034

There are hardly any pics on Day 1 since it was a day of traveling mainly.  I finally got to Santa Barbara in the evening later than I expected and missed part of the welcome reception.  On my way back to my villa from having a nice chat with my mentor, Leah, I captured this beautiful sight and couldn’t wait to see this place during the day!

Day 2…

Time for breakfast!

storyboard004

Training for 3 hours.  It’s so inspiring listening to these rockstars!

storyboard011

After training, it was time for lunch.  Check out this view…  Talk about being in paradise!

storyboard015

Lunch with these ladies from Minnesota… learning from the best!  😉

storyboard019

Check out all this SWAG!  I was speechless when I saw all this stuff for us trip earners.  Talk about spoiled!!

storyboard023

Krysten and I then went on a walk on the beach!  It was so beautiful and peaceful.

storyboard027

We came across 3 of Beautycounter’s Regional Directors: LeeAnne, Kelli, & Natalie!  These ladies are our support and help us grow our businesses as consultants!

storyboard030

This lady right here.  Everyone needs to meet Madame-Athena our Director of Community with Beautycounter.  She has so much heart and passion that when she speaks, you can’t help having a big smile from ear to ear.

storyboard051

Super bummed this pic is blurry, but it has such fabulous ladies in 1 pic, I had to post anyway!

storyboard052

Gregg Renfrew, CEO and Founder of Beautycounter, had her kids there…. her “WHY BEAUTYCOUNTER” is right there standing along side of her.

storyboard055

Her husband was there too.  Support from loved ones is such a HUGE part of someone’s success.  This made me miss my husband, Blaine, and I don’t think I thank him enough for all he does.  The post office runs he makes so I can get samples to people.  The last minute meetings with my teammates.  When I’m hosting online socials, he’s making sure to keep the kids busy downstairs.  Being away isn’t easy, but I can always count on him to pick up the slack when I’m gone.  The list goes on and on.  Supportive husbands are amazing!! 🙂

storyboard057

Dessert station… why yes, I’ll have some of that!

storyboard059

What a nice little surprise when I got back to my room!

beautycounter incentive trip 2022

Day 3….

Time for breakfast before some more training!

storyboard072

No biggie, just Chris Moore who is a film producer known for Good Will Hunting and American Pie AND Lindsey Dyner who was a producer for the Today Show is the new Head of Digital Content at Beautycounter.  They talked about the importance of video which reminds me that I need to start doing some more.  I have been doing more of mini vids on my Instagram stories (click HERE to follow me so you don’t miss a video)…short and to the point.  Sometimes all I have is 10 seconds to watch someone’s video so I can relate!  What do you guys think and/or want?  Once a week?  Twice a week?  Comment below!

storyboard075

Lindsay Dahl… This girl.  I love hearing her speak.  She let us know what is all going down in Washington DC with all the work we’re doing trying to get more laws in place for the cosmetics and personal care industry.  She makes me understand a little more about laws and regulations every time.  I hate to admit but before I was clueless.  It’s actually quite interesting how it all works and what all goes down inside those walls.

storyboard060

After training, it was time to soak up some sun by the pool!

storyboard076

It’s times like this that I’m so thankful for the people Beautycounter has brought into my life.  Meet Krysten.  We have been Facebook friends since last year.  We finally met for the first time in Minnesota at the Fall Workshop in September.  We have cheered each other on and helped each other out.  She gave me the greatest compliment.  “You’re as cool as you are online.”  It made me laugh, but sometimes you never know how people are on social media compared to real life.  So I’ll take the compliment even though I don’t really think I’m that cool.  Just a mom living one (hot mess) day at a time. 😉 If we counted how many minutes throughout the trip we talked and laughed out loud together just the two of us, it would have been probably a good 12 hours. That’s how you know you just made a new BFF!

storyboard077

We devoured those nachos!  Check out my view from my room.

storyboard079

More swag from my mentors Jen, Britta, and Leah! <3 Thankful for their guidance.

storyboard080

We then ended the evening at The Lark!  Great food, drinks, and company!

Lisa was my roommate and goodness is she the sweetest!

storyboard087

Here’s a photo with Christy Coleman, who is the Head of Innovation at Beautycounter.  She comes up with the great ideas like an introduction to charcoal products (cleansing bar and mask)!  She is a fashion and celebrity makeup artist applying our very own products on models and celebrities for magazines and red carpet appearances!  Pretty awesome, right?!

storyboard091

Check out these group of beautiful leaders on Jen’s team!  We are all so different yet have the same passion!

storyboard002

Lots of laughs having dinner with these 3!

Photo with Gina Murphy, Head of Sales at Beautycounter!  What a sweet soul this woman has!  Gina does such a great job fueling us with knowledge, confidence, and energy!

storyboard089

We ended the night with a photo with Gregg.  Now, that’s how you top off the weekend!  It all started with Gregg’s vision.  The mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone.  Because of Beautycounter, many people are being educated and are being part of this change.  The change for safer beauty because your health should never be compromised for beauty.  AMEN SISTA!

storyboard090

What a nice surprise, when we returned to our rooms!

storyboard093

 Day 4….

Time to go back to the great state of Iowa!  Here I am back in my own personal paradise.  Paradise can also be a place with corn fields all around, right?  😉

What a trip that was!  I’m so glad I’m on this adventure as an Educator.  It came to me when I needed it.  God just knows.  This path is something I couldn’t have ever imagined.  A path that has even made me uncomfortable at times as I have stepped out of my comfort zone, but every time I do something uncomfortable, I feel like I can take on anything.  Literally.  You know what they say, great things never came from comfort zones.  😉 You all should try it!

I needed something that I could be at home with the kids more and was flexible with our busy schedules.  This is a type of job that doesn’t ever feel like a job.  Every day is exciting, and every day is rewarding.  Don’t get me wrong, I still work.  As Rupaul says… “You better WORK.”  Just an FYI incase you forgot, money doesn’t grow on trees. 😉  I’m busy…like REALLY busy before Beautycounter.  I didn’t think I would have time for something like this, but I treat this like a business.  I make time even if it’s an hour a day.  Who wouldn’t want to make time for this?  How amazing to be able to be a part of something so HUGE and making a difference, bigger than selling a lip sheer or a moisturizer.  I hope to leave a legacy for my kids.  I’m advocating for better laws so in the future my kids don’t have to worry about what’s inside their products.  A job that’s for a cause, have access to safe, chic products that perform (I love how I get savings on these amazing products), while being financially compensated!  As Gregg says: “Take the job!”  I have to mention by saying: “hashtag” bestjobever  !!  Plus, surrounding yourself with other likeminded individuals is so good for the soul!

storyboard061

My babes were excited to have mom back home, but I’m pretty sure my husband was the most excited. 😉

14702356_10154018986813946_7163213725262073248_n

Want to know more about how to become an Educator for Beautycounter?  I want to take you with me next year on the trip!  Let’s chat or click  HERE  to get more details!  #takethejob

Final thoughts not Beautycounter related…

  • I’m short.  It’s no newsflash but being 5’2″ and wearing heels is still short when everybody else is in heels. 😉
  • I loved dressing out of my typical yoga pants and sweatshirt.  It was a pain to pack outfits and I fully admit I overpacked, but it was great to get the heels and jewelry out multiple days in a row!

storyboard094

So I’m laughing out loud that I took a selfie showing my pool attire WITH my sunglasses on.  Who does that?!  I swear I’ve never done that in my life before.  It’s ok, you all can laugh and shake your head too!  LOL

How Much Do Beautycounter Brand Advocates Make?

This post will break down the specifics of the Beautycounter Compensation Plan, aka how to make money as a Beautycounter Brand Advocate in 2023.

Madi at Beautycounter's LEAD Conference

I want to share some behind the scenes info about being a Beautycounter Brand Advocate for anyone who may be on the fence! I decided to link arms with Beautycounter 4 years ago & it was one of the best personal & professional decisions I’ve made in my life! The Beautycounter business opportunity incorporates many incredible aspects, such as a strong mission, advocacy work, high performing products, & a tremendous community of like minded women. However, another huge piece is the potential to earn an income. So throughout this post, I will be sharing exactly how to make money as a Beautycounter Brand Advocate!

When I was introduced to Beautycounter, I was immediately interested in the products. As I began to learn more about the brand, I was so impressed by what they were doing to champion the clean beauty movement. They banned harmful ingredients, go above & beyond when it comes to safety standards, & they work directly with Congress to move forward legislation. The potential to earn an income for me was honestly at the bottom of my list. I had very little expectations but I did like the idea that I could work this business from anywhere.

Flash forward to now, after a lot of hard work, commitment, & consistency, Beautycounter is my main source of income. Not only that, but this work inspires me in more ways that I ever knew was possible. While Beautycounter isn’t the answer for everyone, it was an answer for me & this post will share why!

Beautycounter is an effort based business that features a generous commission structure for those working it as a business. What I mean by an effort based business is that you will get what you put in. There is no one size fits all when it comes to working a business with Beautycounter. This is why average earnings & income vary significantly! Many women become Advocates just to enjoy the discount, some treat Beautycounter as a hobby, many work Beautycounter alongside very full lives & full time jobs, & others, like myself, work Beautycounter full-time.

At the end of 2022, Beautycounter had over 44,000 Brand Advocates in the United States & Canada. The average Beautycounter Brand Advocate made $1,878 USD in 2022. However, that amount includes ALL Brand Advocates including over 13,000 people who had no sales & therefore earned no commissions. It also includes Brand Advocates who enrolled later in the year & had as few as one month of earnings. To read more about typical earnings of Beautycounter Brand Advocates, please refer to the 2022 Income Disclosure Statement at www.beautycounter.com/ids .

Beautycounter Compensation Plan

Below I share the specifics of how to make money with Beautycounter’s compensation plan. To summarize, you can earn income two ways, through selling Beautycounter products to clients & building a team!

Selling Products to Clients

The main way the vast majority of Beautycounter Brand Advocates earn income is through selling products to clients. Brand Advocates earn between 25-35% in personal commissions based on how much they sell within a calendar month.

As a Brand Advocate, you don’t have to sell a certain amount in order to start making commission. The average Beautycounter order is $125 US. If you have someone shop & spend $125, you would make $31.25 in personal commission (25%). However, as you sell more, you will earn a higher commission.

The first Personal Sales Bonus unlocks once a Brand Advocate sells $750 in a calendar month. If a Brand Advocate sells $750+ in a calendar month, they will unlock 30% commission on all orders. If they sell $1,500+ in a calendar month, they will unlock 32% commission on all orders. And if a Brand Advocate sells $3,000+ in a calendar month, they will unlock 35% commission on all orders. This 35% commission guarantees the Advocate a minimum of $1,050 in personal commissions for the month.

Mentoring a Team

Let me preface this by saying, Beautycounter does NOT require you to recruit or mentor a team. You can make a great paycheck just based on your own sales. However, if you choose to grow a team, you can earn override commissions for mentoring & coaching. As someone with a large team, this is incredibly helpful because it does take a lot of time & effort to help others grow a business. I support people 1:1, host trainings & meetings, offer group coaching, organize events, answer questions, & more on a daily basis. It feels good knowing I can be compensated for pouring into the women I work with.

Brand Advocates can begin to earn 5% on their team & that can grow up to 13% based on rank advancements & titles within the compensation plan. I cannot speak to other Direct Sales companies, but if you choose to grow a team with Beautycounter, you are only paid on three levels beneath you, making it extremely fair.

Developing Leaders

As you work your business & become a leader within Beautycounter, you are able to earn additional override commissions when your downline team members promote to high leadership titles. These overrides kick in once you have a teammate promote to Director or above!

These are the Beautycounter Brand Advocate Rank Titles:

  • Senior Consultant
  • Senior Manager
  • Senior Director
  • Executive Director
  • Managing Director

Beautycounter Consultant Perks

Personal Development

Our inside joke within the Brand Advocate community is that Beautycounter is essentially “personal development with a paycheck” & it is SO true. One thing successful Brand Advocates have in common is the ability to get uncomfortable. In order to grow a business, you must step outside of your comfort zone. I can honestly say that I don’t recognize the person I was when I first started my Beautycounter business in the best way possible.

Community Support

Even though you’re in business by yourself, you’re never alone! Immediately after you start your business, you will have access to virtual & live trainings on selling, mentorship, advocacy, & much more! In addition to team support! I can’t speak for all Beautycounter teams, but the women that I work with & personally mentor have an abundance of team support & resources to lean on as well!

Skill Building

As a Brand Advocate, you will have on-going opportunities to collaborate with others, influence, learn, & grow! One of the biggest skills that I’ve fine tuned over the past few years is public speaking! For as long as I can remember, I was petrified of public speaking. Through my work with Beautycounter, I’ve been able to awaken a huge sense of confidence regarding public speaking as a result of doing countless trainings & coaching. Most recently, I spoke on stage at our annual LEAD conference! You can see the photo below!

Selling Commissions

All Brand Advocates have the opportunity to earn generous selling commissions that range from a minimum of 25% up to 35% on products sold to customers. Even if you don’t have a team, you can still earn a great paycheck based on your sales alone. To offer additional perspective here as someone who has worked with a variety of affiliate opportunities, 25-35% commission is extremely rare. Most companies offer anywhere between 5%-20% commission. Beautycounter’s commission structure is very generous. For example, if you have a friend who purchases the Beautycounter shampoo from your unique link, you will earn a minimum of 25% commission on that shampoo!

Exclusive Product Access

Brand Advocates can enjoy a 25% discount on most items & can unlock steeper savings by shopping presales, which happen before a new product launches! Brand Advocates also get to enjoy free & half off products by working their business & hosting parties either online or in person.

Incentives & Bonuses

Almost every month Brand Advocates have the opportunity to earn special incentives on top of getting paid. This is one of my favorite parts because I love earning free things! Beautycounter offers many incentives such as free products, swag, gifts, product credit, & cash bonuses. Brand Advocates must be actively working their business in order to earn incentives & bonuses.

Finally, incentive trips are a HUGE perk that Brand Advocates can enjoy! Since I started my business, I’ve earned every trip Beautycounter has offered & not only has it grown my business, but each trip has provided me with incredible memories with some of my dearest friends! For example, you can read all about my advocacy trip to DC in this post ! While it’s very challenging to earn a trip with Beautycounter, it’s extremely worth it! So far, I’ve earned trips to Washington DC , Scottsdale , LA , Puerto Rico , & Banff!

Beautycounter Business FAQs

How much does it cost to sign up?

It costs $50 to start a Beautycounter business!

Are you required to spend a certain amount when you sign up?

Nope! As a Beautycounter Brand Advocate, you are never required to purchase products. However, I would absolutely recommend getting started with products especially if you’ve never tried the brand. As soon as you go to enroll, you will unlock the Brand Advocate discount & you will also have access to kits up to 47% off!

Are there monthly or annual fees?

There are not any monthly fees associated with working your business. There is an annual website renewal fee of $50 that you must pay if you want to continue being a Brand Advocate.

Are there any sales quotas?

Yes. All Brand Advocates are required to sell products to Clients & Band of Beauty Members in order to maintain an active account. Beautycounter requires at least 750 QV (1 QV point is typically earned for each dollar of product sold, excluding shipping, handling, tax, & discounts) in sales every 6 months. Anything that you personally purchase as a Brand Advocate within each 6 month period is also included in that 750 QV requirement.

How Much Do Beautycounter Brand Advocates Make?

Is Beautycounter a pyramid scheme?

Absolutely not. Pyramid schemes are illegal. Beautycounter is a direct to consumer, B Corporation !

How do you acquire customers?

I acquire the majority of my customers online through social media (primarily Instagram ) & my blog! I have personally chosen to work my business online because that works best for me. But I also have some family & friends that have become big Beautycounter fans & love supporting my business as well!

The beauty of working a Beautycounter business is the fact that it truly can look different for everyone. Some Brand Advocates actively work their business online & in person. Some exclusively work in person. And some primarily work online, while others are content simply sharing their link with close friends & family.

Acquiring customers can be as easy as sharing skincare samples with a neighbor, posting a makeup tutorial on Instagram, getting a few friends together for a spa night, or educating your friend on why it’s important for her to use Beautycounter sunscreen on her kids instead of chemical SPF! These are all things I help my team with!

Do you need to have sales experience to do well?

I can absolutely speak from experience when I say that you do not need to have experience in sales to do well in Beautycounter. I had zero sales experience prior to starting my business & was able to become a very strong seller.

What happens if it isn’t for me?

Nothing bad will happen if you decide being a Beautycounter Brand Advocate isn’t for you! Anyone can work a Beautycounter business. But it’s definitely not for everyone & that is totally okay! If you decide that you no longer want to be a Brand Advocate or if you don’t hit your 6 month QV requirement, you will be gifted a Band of Beauty Membership. As a Band of Beauty Member, you can enjoy free shipping & will earn 10% back in product credit every time you shop for the next year. Within that year, if you decide you’d like to restart your business, you can join for just $21 instead of $50.

How do I work with you?

If you are interested in getting started as a Beautycounter Brand Advocate, you can go ahead & join HERE ! To ensure you are on my team, you will want to select me, Madi Rowan, as your mentor. Having a good mentor is very important. I can’t tell you how many times I have Brand Advocates who are not on my team, ask if they can switch mentors. I work really hard to ensure the women on my team are well supported within their businesses.

If you have any additional questions before getting started, please email me at [email protected]. I’ll get back to you within 24 hours! Or you can send me a DM on IG – you can find me @madi_rowan !

How Much Do Beautycounter Brand Advocates Make

If you already love Beautycounter or are looking for a way to earn additional income, becoming a Brand Advocate may be a natural next step! I’m grateful every single day that I decided to start my business. Four years later, my life has completely changed for the better. Additionally, I’ve been able to help hundreds of women make the switch to safer products.

Working with Beautycounter is extremely rewarding. My favorite part is the fact that Beautycounter provides so many women, including myself, the opportunity to earn an income while making a difference. I truly couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks eyeing these GORGEOUS New BeautyCounter Holiday Sets (gotta love consultant perks) and I’m excited to share them with you. There are so many fun new products and makeup shades!

beautycounter incentive trip 2022

While all of the BeautyCounter Holiday Sets are beautiful, here are the ones that I can’t get enough of …

  • Essentials Eye Palette : I am a total sucker for a gorgeous eyeshadow palette and this one is stunning. The staying power has been amazing and they’re super easy to blend. Plus, this limited-edition palette is talc-free and made with responsibly sourced mica.
  • Renew You Body Duo : Just like my favorite leave-on facial peel (aka the Overnight Resurfacing Peel), this brand-new Reflect Effect Overnight Resurfacing Body Peel is formulated with a blend of AHAs that help exfoliate the skin and stimulate cell turnover for radiant-looking skin by morning! For the perfect AM/PM routine, this set is paired it with the brand new Tightening Boost Body Serum, which helps to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite, over time.
  • Gloss and Glow Duo : My favorite shade of powder blush (nectar 😍) is now available in a cream blush! This set also comes with a lip jelly in Pomegranate, an exclusive shade that’s sheer, shimmery, and super smooth (and not at all sticky).
  • Clean & Polished Minis : This new Reflect Effect Bamboobuff Exfoliating Polish is incredible! It mixes into any cleanser to create a customizable exfoliation. This set also includes two of my other top cleansers, the Countermatch Refresh Foaming Cleanser and the Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil.
  • Goodbye Dry Body Duo : This set gives you the softest, smoothest skin ever! The Sugarbuff Body Polish comes in a limited-edition Monoi scent, which smells like a tropical vacation (only made with good-for-you scents, and zero fragrances). This set also includes the brand-new, ultra-hydrating Superquench Body Butter, also in the limited-edition Monoi scent!

A few things to keep in mind:

  • If you are a new customer (or ordering with a new email address) use code CLEANFORALL20 to save 20% on your first order (including holiday sets.)
  • These are limited edition sets and the more popular ones will sell out. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
  • Everything is beautifully packaged and doesn’t need to be wrapped.
  • You can break up the sets for smaller gifts. I do this all the time and use them as hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, or as thank you gifts for teachers, hairdresser, dog groomer, nail technician, etc. In my opinion, the best sets to split up are the  Lip Balm Trio (you get 3), Mini Deodorant  (you get 3), Mini Gloss Vault (you get 4) and  Hand Dream Trio  (you get 3).

Reflecting on Hawai‘i and the Beautycounter Mission

Currently, many of our Brand Advocates are in the midst of earning our first-ever incentive trip to Hawai ʻ i, and we can’t wait to experience the magical island of O ʻ ahu together at the Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina (pictured above). While we look forward to soaking up the sun and enjoying Hawai ʻ i’s pristine beaches with you, we want to take a moment to touch on why this trip is important to our mission—keeping safety, sustainability, advocacy, and giving at the heart of everything we do.

Giving

Our hearts go out to the many individuals, families, and businesses that have been impacted by the Maui wildfires. As one of the deadliest wildfires in recorded U.S. history, the fires have devastated the island of Maui, claiming over 100 lives and leaving thousands of locals displaced. Beautycounter is working with trusted nonprofits providing on-the-ground support to victims to donate thousands of hygiene products, including soap, deodorant, and hand sanitizer. If you are interested in personally helping with relief efforts, we encourage you to visit https://www.mauinuistrong.info/support to find a list of nonprofit organizations endorsed by Maui County government.

beautycounter incentive trip 2022

Advocacy

In 2018, Hawai ʻ i became the first state in the U.S. to ban the sale of sunscreen containing the coral-harming chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate, ushering in a new era of coral-reef-safe sunscreen. Beautycounter was proud to advocate for the passage of the Hawai ʻ i “Safer Sunscreen” bill by working with bipartisan lawmakers and submitting letters of support to the legislature and Governor Ige. Beautycounter Compensation Plan: The Nitty Gritty

Curious how to make money with Beautycounter? This post explains the Beautycounter Compensation Plan in detail.

kath younger with beautycounter products | Beautycounter Compensation Plan

Today is Beautycounter’s 9th anniversary as a brand changing the beauty industry.

Since I’ve been a Consultant with Beautycounter for almost three years, I thought today would be a great time to explain Beautycounter’s compensation plan. In other words, how 50,000+ consultants and I can earn money by linking arms with this innovative clean beauty brand.

While I initially said “no thank you” (more than once!) to the business opportunity, I was looking for cleaner sunscreens in April 2019 and decided to try something new. In addition to sunscreen, I decided to swap all of my skincare and makeup for Beautycounter at the same time. I knew the brand was trustworthy and had a focus on sustainability. So I went all in and signed up as a consultant for the discount. Note that I never would have signed up if there were a bunch of requirements or minimums, and I had absolutely zero interest in having people under me (although my sister and I joined together!).

I can say with sincerity that working with Beautycounter has added so many positives to my life. I’m not at the top of the company (nor do I know if I ever will be). But I am happily in the middle! I have created an additional stream of income for our family simply by helping others choose safer personal care products.

Disclaimer: Beautycounter and/or any of our independent consultants do not guarantee any level of income. Each consultant’s success in earning Commissions will depend on his or her efforts, abilities, and circumstances. To learn more, please view the 2020 Income Disclosure Statement at www.beautycounter.com/ids

Beautycounter Compensation Plan explained

Beautycounter’s Business Model

There is a misconception that Beautycounter is a “pyramid scheme” or “another one of those brands.” Our founder, Gregg Renfrew, felt that transparency in beauty was a message best told person to person, so she founded the company with a community of marketers in mind.

Very similar to the hundreds of brands I’ve collaborated with through KERF over the years, being a consultant with Beautycounter is not very different than being an affiliate with Athleta or Amazon . I earn a *very tiny* commission when I share things I love and use across hundreds of brands through affiliate networks. The difference is that Beautycounter’s commission structure is much more generous at 25%. And Beautycounter has a lot more two-way communication with its consultants than many brands offer with their affiliate networks.

You can buy Beautycounter without a consultant if you choose

You’ll just lose a layer of customer service : ) Beautycounter sells their products through multiple channels, with direct-to-consumer sales being the main avenue. That said, you do not need to purchase Beautycounter products through a consultant. You can simply purchase online like any other e-commerce brand. You can also walk into one of Beautycounter’s brick and mortar stores in Denver, Los Angeles, and New York City, and you may have even seen the products pop up in well-known stores like Target and Sephora.

Video: Beautycounter Presents: Myths About Direct Selling

Beautycounter compensation plan.

Here’s more about how Beautycounter consultants can earn income.

1. Selling Products

The first (and rather obvious) way to earn income is by selling Beautycounter’s products. Beautycounter is known for its safer beauty products that are all formulated without the use of more than 1,800 questionable and potentially harmful ingredients.

The products range from anti-aging skincare serums to makeup made with ethically-sourced mica and shower essentials for the entire family. And yes, while technically I’m selling Beautycounter, it is honestly more about sharing and educating. These high-performing products sell themselves!

As a consultant, you earn 25-35% commission on everything you sell. Everyone earns at least 25% commission; the more you sell each month, the more you earn.

  • Up to $750 in sales/month: 25% commission
  • Up to $1,500 in sales/month: 30% commission
  • Up to $3,000 in sales/month: 32% commission
  • Over $3,000 in sales/month: 35% commission

For example: If I have a friend who places a $200 order, I would earn $50 in commissions from that order at the 25% base commission rate.

Countertime carry-on set | How Beautycounter consultants earn income

But I don’t want to be that salesy person! I totally understand. No hands go up when you ask if someone wants to sell something to their friends and family. And you don’t have to have experience with retail sales, or sales whatsoever. This model is truly about sharing – person to person – just as you would your favorite pair of boots or leggings.

In fact, most consultants were a Band of Beauty member first (Beautycounter’s customer rewards program ) before they enrolled as a consultant … meaning they were already consistent consumers of the brand. However, instead of just saving money as a member, you have the ability to earn money as a consultant.

2. Building A Team

The second way to make income, and scale your Beautycounter business, is by developing a team of fellow consultants. This is 100% optional, but is the definitive way that you can earn a larger pay check. Contrary to being a pyramid scheme, this model is not unlike any other corporate job where the CEO or executive level employees who oversee a team of employees earn a larger salary than those “under them.”

As your team grows in size (your team sells and builds teams of their own), you’ll get a small commission of those sales. It does not reduce the amount that your downline consultant earns. You can earn anywhere from 5-12% of your team’s sales. Similarly, as you put in the work to help mentor emerging leaders on your team, that is reflected in your monthly earning statement as well.

How much you earn can vary quite a bit; there is great information about how much an average Beautycounter consultant makes at each level in the income disclosure statement . It’s really interesting to study the data they provide. For example, lots of people join just to get a discount and not to actually sell so they have $0 in earnings. And they separate out averages for new consultants vs. seasoned. Of the new consultants who had sales in a 6-month period, 50% earned more than $100, 23% earned more than $500. And 12% earned more than $1,000.

These are the titles you can achieve based on how much sales volume you have and how large your team grows.

  • Senior Director

3. Beautycounter Consultant Perks

I love being a part of a larger community. I’ve mentioned before that after working for myself for so many years it was actually refreshing to feel connected, especially to a company that is a B Corporation and widely recognized like on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list and Forbes .

It has always felt natural to promote Beautycounter’s products because I honestly love the results I’ve seen in my own skin and wholeheartedly stand behind the company’s mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone – Beautycounter or not!

There are also perks beyond earning money, such as free products and other incentives. Of course those are all optional – just for fun.

Consultant Perks:

  • Get a 25% discount on all your own purchases (this is why most people join and the best perk!)
  • No inventory required: items ship directly from HQ to clients
  • Earn 25-35% commission (+ bonuses) on sales made through your personal link
  • Get early access to new products and limited edition sets at a discount (usually 30-40% off)
  • Free educational trainings and endless support
  • No rules, no minimums; total schedule flexibility and creativity!

Thanks for this post, Kath – it’s so clear that you’re passionate about BeautyCounter, and I have to admit, I understand a little bit more about the business model now. I’m sure you get tons of questions about it, especially after LulaRich came out earlier this year — not saying that Gregg is like Mark and DeAnne, lol. I really appreciated your transparency in how much you earn, potentially, and where you are in the corporate structure. It is often opaque, and I say that as someone who actually works in Corporate America. I love the idea of a community of marketers, but I have to question the analogy that the BC structure is similar to another large organization, simply because I don’t have the potential to get a cut of salary from anyone that works beneath me in my org if they do their jobs. Or is it a simile? It’s been too long since I took the SAT for me to get that right. Hope you and the boys are enjoying spring!

It’s common in companies for those in management to get bonuses a company profit share based on their team’s performance. Even more so in sales companies. It’s not a perfect example, but the point is that while the compensation plan of each company is slightly different, maybe of them are shaped like a pyramid and performance based 🙂

Katharine says

March 7, 2022 at 8:20 pm

As a longtime follower (oatmeal bowl days! pre Mazen!), I feel like I “know” you and have grown up with you. I don’t care that you sell BC, but how can you say BC isn’t a pyramid scheme/mlm? It’s literally the definition. You make money by building your team and therefore sales. You also have to make an investment to get started (legit non mlm jobs do not require that). I’ve read your post, but I can’t seem to figure out how you came to the conclusion that it isn’t an mlm/pyramid scheme. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

March 8, 2022 at 6:56 am

Here’s the definition of a pyramid scheme: “A pyramid scheme is an unsustainable, illegal business model where investment returns are typically from principals of investments or membership fees instead from the underlying investment gains. It is often marketed as a foolproof way to turn a small amount of money into big returns.”

Beautycounter is not that.

If you’d like to call it a multi level marketing structure, you can! I didn’t say it wasn’t. But I don’t think that’s the best description either since

1) you don’t have to purchase product through a consultant if you don’t want 2) you make the most money off of your own commissions not anyone under you, and 3) because you don’t have to recruit a single person to build a business – it’s totally optional.

Dublin, April 24, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "The Transformation of Customer Loyalty: A Pan-Industry View" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

In a time of uncertainty, brands must ensure that the value proposition provided by their loyalty schemes is firmly aligned with customer needs, priorities and expectations, continuously refined and adapted to withstand disruption and changing market conditions. This report explores how loyalty programmes are evolving across key industries worldwide. The report offers an insight into the size and shape of the luxury goods industry, highlights buzz topics, emerging trends as well as pressing industry issues, their effects on luxury goods retailing in markets around the world and on the development of consumers' shopping patterns. Forecasts illustrate how the market is set to change and criteria for success. In short, it identifies the opportunity zones within luxury goods industry

Key Findings

Lifestyle loyalty schemes

Creating lifestyle loyalty programmes has become an essential focus for brands across different industries by rewarding actions rather than purchases. They aim to become part of the everyday lives of their consumers, incentivising wellness and wellbeing behaviours, delivering utility as well as innovative but highly personalised benefits. By forming relevant partnerships and delivering more choices for members with the help of these schemes, brands are able to stand out from the crowd and remain relevant.

Elevating value proposition vital more than ever

As consumers become savvier, they seek to gain more added value from their regular purchases and from their membership participation. This is forcing brands to adapt and deliver wide-ranging rewards offerings, more prestigious membership status, enjoyable experiences, and personalised services.

Communities and co-creation in huge demand

Building a brand community as part of the loyalty programmes is imperative for deepening the customer engagement, supporting peer-to-peer interaction and social impact initiatives, creating more lasting relationships with members and ultimately accessing vital feedback and information about the brand's customer base. Brand communities are the perfect platform for product and marketing co-creation with the business, which further entices more innovation as well as loyal and top-spending consumers.

Innovation and technology revive stale legacy structures

In a time of technological disruption and innovation, customer loyalty is changing. Companies are embracing new business models to expand the potential of loyalty schemes, ensure borderless reach and deliver new incentives. With digitalisation extending its reach, using mobile strategies to drive loyalty is essential, and in turn offers a direct connection to the customer.
