To make the most of your trip, it can be helpful to rely on the expertise of a few locals via a guided tour. Read on to discover some of the top-rated Paris tours for a variety of interests.

Bike About Tours – Hidden Paris Bike Tour

Price: Adults from 45 euros (around $49); kids 3 and younger from 20 euros (about $22) Duration: 3.5 hours

On this roughly 3.5-hour cycling trip, a guide takes you on back streets to both notable and lesser-known attractions throughout Paris. Along the way, guides share historical and cultural anecdotes. Sights include the Place des Vosges, Jardin des Plantes and the Paris mosque, to name a few. Reviewers love seeing an array of attractions at a leisurely pace and applaud the expertise of the guides. Big Bus Paris Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

Double-decker, open-top buses take you to 10 stops near top attractions, including the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Musée du Louvre and the Grand Palais. On this roughly 12-mile tour, a guide will lead you through the city on an electric bike, stopping at some of Paris' most famous attractions and storied monuments. Hear the legends of Élysée Palace, the controversies of the Eiffel Tower and the curious past of the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Reviewers love the knowledgeable guides and the unique stories.

You'll also ride in style on Bel & Bel Segways, which are designed to resemble the iconic Vespa scooters. Tours are available daily at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 or 7 p.m. You may be required to book at least two riders for your tour if you book directly through the company's website. Participants must be at least 12 years old. XL Tour also runs electric bike tours through the city.

Did you know…

The Champs de Mars is the largest green space in intramural Paris. It takes its name from a space for military maneuvers and according to legend it was here that in 52 BC that the Parisiis, a Gallic people, were defeated. by the Romans. This is where the Universal Exhibitions once took place.

The Pont Alexandre III was built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900 and symbolizes Franco-Russian friendship. The first stone was laid by the last Tsar of Russia Nicolas II. The bridge is named after his father Tsar Alexander III. The architect is called Joseph Cassien-Bernard. The Chateau-Landon stone which was used to build the Sacré Coeur and the Arc de Triomphe was notably used for the construction of the Bridge.

The Petit Palais was built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900 by the architect Charles Girault. Today it is the Museum of Fine Arts of the city of Paris. There are paintings by the greatest painters Renoir, Courbet, Rembrandt, Monet etc... Did you know? The Saigon Opera House was built the same year in a very similar style.

The first houses on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré were burned down by the Communards in 1871, along with part of rue Royale.

Did you know ? Empress Eugénie, no doubt superstitious, had number 13 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré removed, which was never reinstated.
