Elvis Costello & the Imposters Plot 7-0-7 Tour for 2024

by Lorie Liebig September 26, 2023, 12:27 pm

Elvis Costello will hit the road this January with his band, the Imposters, for a new stretch of headlining shows. The newly announced 7-0-7 Tour will begin with a stop in Tallahassee and continue to cities across the southern U.S. through early February.

Videos by American Songwriter

The acclaimed English-born singer/songwriter’s touring schedule includes a set at the 30A Songwriters Festival and a headlining show at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. He’ll be joined by fellow seasoned songsmith and guitarist Charlie Sexton , who will serve as support on all 15 dates of the trek.

Costello and his bandmates—Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas, and Davey Faragher—have spent much of the past year on the road in support of their 2022 record,  The Boy Named If . In March, a box set titled  The Songs of Bacharach & Costello  was released, which includes a treasure trove of collaborative tracks from the pair recorded during the 1990s.

By Madison Bloom

Elvis Costello and Hall and Oates ’ Daryl Hall have announced a co-headlining spring and summer tour. Costello and Hall will kick things off June 2 in Troutdale, Orgeon, before traveling to cities in Washington, California, Nevada, Illinois, and more, and wrapping things up in Vienna, Virginia on July 25. Find their itinerary below.

Costello will perform with his longtime band the Imposters , while Charlie Sexton will support throughout the trek. “We are looking forward to kicking off the show in style in the certainty that Daryl will deliver a slam-bang finish,” Costello said in a statement.

Hall added, “It’s fantastic to be able to rekindle a musical relationship. Get ready for lots of great music.”

Costello and Hall collaborated back in 1984 on the former’s single “ The Only Flame in Town ,” which appears on Costello’s ninth studio album, Goodbye Cruel World . That LP was recorded with Costello’s early band the Attractions .

Back in 2022, Daryl Hall released a career-spanning compilation of his solo work called BeforeAfter . He has more recently been embroiled in a legal battle with former bandmate John Oates over an alleged breach of partnership .

Recent tour reviews

Elvis Costello was once again played Glasgow and as usual I attended .

Although I had never seen him in The Armadillo it was a great night.

It was a tour through his greatest hits and a joy with 2 old Attractions band members playing along side him with 2 female backing singers and bass all covered brilliantly.

I did although find Elvis voice somewhat strained at times on certain songs (Which I have never seen happen before).

Finished of with Pump it Up ! And that they did pumped it up until the roof nearly came of the building.

Thanks Elvis.

Musically good. Visually good.

Too loud for the Ryman.

Elvis Costello was obviously focussed on his new album as he didn't play many hits.

Certainly not my favourites: Oliver's Army, Good Year for the Roses, Veronica or I can't stand up for falling down.

Jesus Christ on a broomstick this show was painful. Elvis sounds like something wounded. Long, incoherent, rambling stories may have been a saving grace from his singing. No crowd atmosphere - people seemed to be chatting. I left after 45 minutes. And no - it could not have gotten better. The main sounds like he is in the painful pushing throes of constipation.

Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton

Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton

This event has passed.

It is with an air of the utmost delight that we, the purveyors of the finest musical tidings, announce the resplendent return of the esteemed maestro,  Elvis Costello , and his illustrious coterie,  The Imposters . Brace yourselves, for this transcendental ensemble shall be traversing some of America’s most verdant roads on their scintillating 7-0-7 Tour , an escapade destined to rhapsodize the senses and bewitch the heartstrings.

Like a phoenix reborn from the flames of creative fervor,  Elvis Costello and The Imposters  shall grace the stages of Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina, taking enraptured audiences on an odyssey commencing on the 8th of January, 2024, in the enchanting realm of Tallahassee, Florida and closes on February 2nd, near Cape Fear, North Carolina. Verily, as the sun ascends over the horizon, so shall this formidable troupe illuminate the musical firmament.

Ah, but let us not overlook the accompanists of our esteemed troubadour!  The Imposters , those cunning artisans of harmony and rhythm —namely,  Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas,  and  Davey Faragher —shall once again pledge their musical virtuosity, their souls and strings and keys, to this endeavor. And lo and behold, the brilliant guitarist Charlie Sexton shall join this musical fellowship, bestowing a luminous brilliance akin to stars strung across the heavens.

Standing at Concerts

Standing and Dancing at Concerts: DPAC is proud to welcome all types of concerts to our stage. Sometimes during the course of a concert performance, audience members will show their enthusiasm by standing and dancing, especially when encouraged by the performers to do so. Unless directed by the show, we do not ever enforce a must sit policy at concerts. For most concerts, this would not be acceptable to the performers on stage who often love it when the crowd is moved enough by the performance to stand. This is especially true for rock shows and for seats closest to the stage.

Please know that DPAC does not have a “no standing” policy and in most situations will allow guests to stand even if they block the view of the stage for other guests. If your view is ever blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please contact an usher and we’ll attempt to find alternative seating.

Video Screens

Currently, this event has not approved using our video screens.  Please feel free to check back closer to the event for updates. If approved, we will post notice here.

For many concert, comedy, and special events at DPAC, we offer added views of the stage with two big screens (size: 16’ x 9’) hung to the sides of the stage or above the stage. These big screens can add to the visual experience of our concert, comedy, and special events and give guests seated farther from the stage what we like to call “a tenth row view”. Approval to use these screens always rests with the visiting show and about half of all concert and comedy events do use these screens.

Nile rodgers, emilee moore opens up about the heartbreak that inspired coachella billboard performance & new…, trending on billboard.

In January, 3000 announced a lengthy run of 2024 dates in support of his surprise solo jazz instrumental album, New Blue Sun , which included multiple dates at the Blue Note club in New York, the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta and a five-night stand at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in early March. The dates will roll on this month with a trio of gigs at Joshua Tree, CA’s iconic Pappy & Harriet’s as well as spots at the ATL Jazz Festival on May 27 and the Roots Picnic on June 1-2 in Philadelphia.

In keeping with his “no bars” pledge, 3000 will also not rap at a number of other jazz festivals this summer, including the Toronto Jazz Fest (June 28), the Gent Jazz Festival (July 12) and the North Sea Jazz Festival (July 13).

Frequently asked questions, pump it up with the return of a rock 'n' roll legend.

His career is legendary, spanning more than four decades and thirty-plus albums, and his songs – “Alison”, “Pump It Up”, “This Year’s Model”, “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding” – are classics, explosive punk energy channeled through the timelessness of classic rock ’n’ roll songwriting. Now, after 17 long years, multi-award winning singer-songwriter Elvis Costello is returning to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall for three dynamite, career-spanning performances, and he’s bringing his indefatigable band The Imposters along for the ride.

Costello has written lyrics for compositions by Charles Mingus, Billy Strayhorn and Oscar Peterson and musical settings for words by W.B. Yeats and Bob Dylan.  Costello’s songs have been recorded by a great number of artists, including George Jones, Linda Ronstadt, Georgie Fame, Chet Baker, Johnny Cash, June Tabor, Roy Orbison, Dusty Springfield, Robert Wyatt, Anne Sofie von Otter, Solomon Burke and Darlene Love.

During his career, Costello has received numerous prestigious honours, including two Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting, a BAFTA for the music written with Richard Harvey for Alan Bleasdale’s television drama series “G.B.H.” and a Grammy for “I Still Have That Other Girl” from his 1998 collaboration with Burt Bacharach, Painted From Memory. In January 2020, Costello received the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his 2018 studio record,  Look Now .  Elvis Costello and The Attractions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. The same year, Costello was awarded ASCAP’s prestigious Founder’s Award.  In 2016 Elvis Costello was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in the company of Chip Taylor and Tom Petty.

Fresh off their most recent album, this year’s  The Boy Named If , Elvis Costello and The Imposters – essentially the Attractions plus bassist Davey Faragher – have been touring an electrifying two-hour set with the combustible energy of men a third their age, drawing heavily on a beloved back catalogue that runs from early, stone-cold classics like records My Aim is True, This Year’s Model and Armed Forces to their latest work.

Whether you’re a diehard fan or a Costello newcomer, this is one show you won’t want to miss.

Newport Jazz Festival announces 2024 lineup: André 3000, Elvis Costello, more

Once again, the Newport Jazz Festival exceeded all expectations.

The annual three-day extravaganza recruited some of the biggest names in music — including a few that don’t typically fall under the jazz genre — to jam out over the long weekend.

André 3000, Elvis Costello, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Brittany Howard of The Alabama Shakes, and Samara Joy are just a few of the icons dropping into Newport, RI’s Fort Adams State Park on Aug. 2-4.

They’ll be joined by Kamasi Washington , Laufey , Robert Glasper , Cory Wong , and Thievery Corporation .

All in all, 47 acts are scheduled to take the stage from Friday through Sunday.

And if you want to join them, general admission passes can be picked up as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Dice until Wednesday, April 10, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

A complete breakdown of all the different ticket types — single and multi-day passes — can be found below.

As mentioned earlier, 47 acts (!) will be taking the stage at Newport, RI’s Fort Adams State Park.
