How to Solve the Tears of the Kingdom Makasura Shrine in Kakariko Village

This tricky Shrine made easy.

zelda Tears of the Kingdom Makasura shrine

The Makasura Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a tricky one, as it requires you to carefully launch yourself from slanted platforms to reach the end. Depending on your progress with this game , you may not be aware of how to use the slanted platforms, especially when it comes to reaching the shrine’s exit. This is an important shrine to complete, as it serves as a fast travel point for the iconic Kakariko Village, making it vital. In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to get through the Makasura Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom .

Tears of the Kingdom Makasura Shrine Location

You can find the Makasura Shrine to the northwest of Necluda. It’s in between the Saharsa Slope and Pierre Plateau.

Tears of the Kingdom Makasura

The Makasura Shrine is just southwest of Kakariko Village.

The Makasura Shrine is located southwest of Kakariko Village and is the closest fast-travel point to the village. With that in mind, we highly recommend completing this shrine so you can warp to Kakariko Village.

Tears of the Kingdom Makasura Shrine Solution

Start by heading down the ramp and using Ascend to reach the top. Then, grab the ramped device ahead and flip it over so the nub part is facing the exit to the Shrine. Stand on top of the ramp and shoot the nub with an arrow and you’ll be launched into the air across the gap to the other side.

Tears of the Kingdom Makasura Shrine

Flip the ramp over and you’ll be able to use it to shoot yourself across the gap.

When you land, move ahead and grab the next ramp device and launch into the gated room on the left. The ramp works just like the last one, wherein you must shoot the nub to launch yourself from it. Once in the room, attach the little nub to the ramp like the others. Use it to launch yourself onto the platform above, where you’ll find a chest containing a Fairy Tonic.

Tears of the Kingdom Makasura Shrine

Repeat the same process to reach the room on the left.

Then, drop down, flip the ramp device so the little bowl is facing upward, and place the ball inside. You can then launch yourself and the ball into the main area. Here, place the ball in the center area to unlock the room across, which contains yet another ramp device.

Tears of the Kingdom Makasura Shrine

Combine two ramps to give you enough momentum to clear the gap at the end.

You then need to connect that ramp device to the other in the main room to make one long ramp. Position this ramp so that the nub is facing the end of the shrine, then use the extended ramp to catapult yourself to the exit. Glide over , interact with the statue at the end to exit the Shrine, and earn your Light of Blessing .

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - All Kakariko Village Side Quests

Exploring the lands of Hyrule will bring you to the iconic Kakariko Village, and there are plenty of ways to help its local citizens.

Quick Links

How to get to kakariko village, all kakariko village side quests, additional quests in kakariko village.

The iconic Kakariko Village once again makes an appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom . This location has appeared in numerous games in the series before, and was a focal point for your adventures in Breath of the Wild .

RELATED: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - All Rito Village Side Quests

While Kakariko Village itself won't be drastically different from before, the village has been impacted by the Upheaval. Ruins from the skies have crashed down around the village; Impa's granddaughter, Paya, has taken over as Chief of Kakariko Village; and you will uncover even more secrets when you reach the main quest that involves the village, " Secret of the Ring Ruins ."

Located in the West Necluda region , Kakariko Village can be approached from any direction, depending on where you are in your adventures. If you are starting from Lookout Landing , your first stop upon reaching the Surface, you will need to travel west on the path out of the settlement.

You can follow the roads that take you over the Hylia River , and continuing on the roads leading you southeast will bring you right to Kakariko Village's doorstep. Along the way, you can make a slight detour to activate the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower in order to uncover the West Necluda portion of your map.

Upon reaching the village, make sure to complete the local Makasura Shrine so you will have an easy fast travel point for whenever you need to return.

Kakariko Village has adapted to the new ruins around them, and the phenomena has even attracted tourists to the area. Between Kakariko's citizens and visiting tourists , there are a few side quests that see you helping the local community.

Here are all the Kakariko Village side quests , with who to talk to in order to pick it up, and a short description:

Completing all the quests in the area will give you some extra materials, ingredients, and other benefits.

For example, if you ever want to buy the Stealth Set or Radiant Set that are sold in the Enchanted armor shop, completing "Gloom-Borne Illness" is necessary to bring the prices down .

The Ring Garland

While there is no official quest tied to Koko , the woman who sells ring garlands for five Rupees in Kakariko Village , there is at least one use for such an item. This involves bringing the ring garland all the way to Gerudo Town , which means you will have to carry the garland or fuse it to your shield .

If you make your way to the Gerudo Shelter in the evening , you'll be able to find a class being taught by Ashai . With your ring-garland-shield equipped, listening in on the class will open up new lines of dialogue with the character Deltan.

The ring garland doesn't have an official quest or reward — it just adds even more depth to the world of Hyrule and its inhabitants.

Messages From An Ancient Era

The next quest that will take you to Kakariko Village is " Messages From An Ancient Era ." You first pick up this quest in Lookout Landing from an archaeologist named Wortsworth . From there, he and his team then travel to Kakariko Village.

This quest sees you finding and photographing various stone tablets around the map. To make progress with "Messages from an Ancient Era," you will have to continuously return to Kakariko Village to talk to Wortsworth .

Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Seek Out Impa, how to get to Kakariko Village

What's worth seeing along the way to Impa in Kakariko Village.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Seek Out Impa is a quest that comes after you complete The Isolated Plateau and visiting The Temple of Time , and sees you traverse into the wider world for the first time.

The journey to Impa at Kakariko Village has a few sights to see - including your first chance to tame a horse - as well as a new Tower to climb.

If you're after help for parts of the game, consult our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide .

How to get the Kakariko Village

Now you have your Paraglider, you are free to leap from the Great Plateau into Hyrule Kingdom below. Enjoy the ride, park on the grass and set off towards the east towards the Dueling Peaks, which is how you get to Kakariko Village.

Cover image for YouTube video

The beauty of this Zelda game is the exact route is up to you, so if you get ambushed, find something difficult or simply become distracted, you can find a different path. Here's some things we observed on our trek through Hyrule Kingdom in that direction:

  • The Outpost Ruins and East Post Ruins have food and resources you can find, but also feature Moblins, which are large intimidating creatures. We recommend avoiding taking them on, but if you do, Fire Arrows work well, and reward you with Moblin Fangs and Moblin Horns.
  • Before the Dueling Peaks is Proxim Bridge has an NPC named Brigo. He'll discuss distance towers and Guardians - pointing out one at the bank of the nearby river. There is a campfire just after the Bridge where you can rest until morning if you like.

fast travel kakariko village

  • If you head across the river and up the hill, there is a Stone Talus boss by West Nabi Lake. Once you defeat it, rewarding you with lots of valuable resources which you can sell for Rupees.
  • Be sure to climb and activate the Dueling Peaks Tower just before the Peaks themselves, which is difficult to miss. It's basically one long climb with ledges all the way so you rest. Doing so will unlock the area's map, as well as add the Shiekah Sensor that'll chime whenever a Shrine is nearby.
  • There is a meat merchant named Mezer just south of the Dueling Peaks Tower, across the river, if you have Rupees to spare - but we recommend hunting since there are wild animals all over.
  • Underneath the Dueling Peaks themselves, along the river and up a short cliff, is the Ree Dahee shrine .
  • There are plenty of ores to smash in the tunnel - use a sledgehammer or bombs to get their valuable innards.
  • When you emerge from underneath the Peaks, to your left is Ha Damahar Shrine , surrounded by spikes. Leap off the cliff inside the tunnel and glide over the spikes to access. They'll disappear when you complete the Shrine, but if you want to leave early, then you can awkwardly climb up the side of the Shrine and leap away.
  • The stables are well worth visiting to get your first horse by horse taming , as well as get items. There are free Apples and Wood outside, a place to cook, a place to sleep inside (for a price), and chatting to Sagessa in the day time outside about Elixirs and you'll get a Hasty Elixir for free.

fast travel kakariko village

We recommend you tame a horse to make the rest of the journey quicker. Head north, past the crossing (right goes to another village, which we'll be taking shortly) and north over Kakariko Bridge, through the Pillars of Levia and Bonooru's Stand areas to Lantern Lake, where Kakariko Village is.

The Priceless Maracas

On the way is the The Priceless Maracas side quest along the way on the road side. This is a very simple quest where you head north into an enclosed area where three Bokoblin linger. They're stronger than the standard red types so will take a few attacks before downing. You can climb above them for the element of surprise with a bomb or other weapons, or draw them out through the tunnel you came in with to funnel them individually so they don't overwhelm you at once.

Once it's over, smash the crates for some easy resources, then climb the small tower to get the chest, which has the Maracas. Take them back.

You'll learn their power has been lost without Korok Seeds. To fully complete the quest, you need to give him one - which should be easy enough to find - and you'll have the option to expand your inventory between melee weapons, bows and shields. If you're like us, you'll going through weapons like anyone's business, so we opted for that.

The quest is then complete, but you can return here if you want to upgrade more of your inventory if you find more Korok Seeds. Now keep going north and you'll finally arrive at Kakariko Village.

Kakariko Village

As you enter, chat to Nanna on the right, who will direct you to Lady Impa, who is in the house below Lantern Falls at the far end. Before you head over, there are a number of things to do in the village, such as (but not limited to):

  • Make sure you head above over the village - take the path on the right as you come down the hill - to find the Ta'loh Naeg shrine just at the top. Not only is this a useful fast travel point, but it provides a useful combat tutorial and some good strength weaponry for this point in the game. There is also Lakna Rokee shrine in a nearby forest, but requires some steps to access first.
  • Not far from the shrine is your first Great Fairy Fountain location , which is useful for upgrading your armour.
  • There is a shop in the centre of town which has new clothes. There's a special curated line that's rather extortionate, and some more reasonably priced items that you can probably find on your adventure. We say hold onto your Rupees.
  • Visit the vegetable patches in the centre of the village for free Swift Carrots and Fortified Pumpkins.
  • The heart of the village is home to a statue where you can trade Spirit Orbs for Heart Containers or Stamina upgrades.
  • You can start the Arrows of Burning Heat side-quest by speaking to woman behind the counter in the Archery shop twice. To complete it, shoot at the four torches surrounding the central pray statue with Fire Arrows, then return to get 20 Rupees.
  • At night, there are Fireflies and Snails to collect as ingredients all over the village.

Whenever you're ready, approach the building and speak to Impa inside for a cutscene.

After speaking about memories, chat to Impa again and say you are ready to start for another cutscene. She'll tell you about the four Divine Beasts and add their locations as part of the Free the Divine Beasts quest to your map.

She'll also tell you about Hateno Village and a way to help awaken your memories there, as part of the Locked Momentos quest, which should be your next port of call.

If you’re a Legend of Zelda aficionado, then you’re familiar with a recurring area called Kakariko Village or Kakariko Town. While its location and history change depending on which iteration of Legend of Zelda you’re playing, it has become a staple for the series.

This village is key in several Legend of Zelda games, including some of the most popular versions like Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. But where else might you find Kakariko Village? And what role does it play in the Legend of Zelda? Read our Kakariko Village guide to find out!

Description

This cozy little town is always a safe place in which Link can rest and relax. In Kakariko Village he can take a break from the pressures of saving Hyrule. For example, in Ocarina of Time, he can practice his slingshot or archery skills. In Breath of the Wild, he can buy some food or clothes.

More often than not these quiet hamlets aid Link in his journey to defeat Ganon by providing succor and information. Inspired by real-life rural villages in Japan, Kakariko Village is often Link’s home away from home.

Legend of Zelda Appearances

Kakariko Village appears in many Legend of Zelda games. Let’s take a look at which versions of Legend of Zelda give Link a place to return to when the pressures of being a hero become too much.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Kakariko Village Guide

The largest settlement Link visits in A Link to the Past is Kakariko Town. It’s found to the south of the Lost Woods, on the western half of the Light World map. In Kakariko Town, Link can speak with many villagers who will provide valuable information. Some businesses and merchants can offer Link weapons and tools to help him on his way.

Kakariko town is also home to an inn, a tavern, and a fortune-teller. The famous elder Sahasrahla also resides in Kakariko Town, which is why Link sets out to find the town in the first place. Unfortunately, upon his arrival, Link is blamed for the kidnapping of Princess Zelda by many of the townspeople.

However, some believe Link to be innocent, including Sahasrahla and his family. They instruct Link to retrieve the Master Sword. Upon doing so, he returns to Kakariko Town, which is now under the control of soldiers, instructed to attack Link.

During his return to Kakariko Town, Link sets the Flue Boy’s Bird free from its prison – the Weathercock situated in the center of the town. The Flute Boy will then reward Link with a whistle, which Link can use to transport to various places throughout Light World.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Octarina of time

After successfully freeing the Great Deku Tree from Gohma, Link will head to Kakariko Village. This small town in the northeast part of the Hyrule is not too far from Hyrule Castle. Kakariko Village sits at the bottom of Death Mountain and is also the entrance to several key locations throughout the game.

The origins of Kakariko Village are mentioned several times throughout Ocarina of Time. Link is told that the town was established by Sheikah, the official protectors of the Royal Hyrule Family, including Princess Zelda. Additionally, the town was initially home to the Sheikah but was later made available to commoners when Impa chose to open the town to others.

Like other Legend of Zelda games, Kakariko Village is a place Link returns to repeatedly in Ocarina of Time. It is his primary destination for many events that take place throughout his adventures in Hyrule. For example, it is the home of the windmill, which is used to bring water up from the town well.

Within the town walls Link will also find a Shooting Gallery, a Potion Ship, a Bazaar, and many interesting characters. Kakariko Village is also home to several tools Link uses along his journey, including a bottle, the Hylian Shield, the Lens of Truth, and multiple songs for his ocarina.

Link visits Kakariko Village for the first time when Impa suggests he go to her childhood home. Here, most of the town is under construction as Impa has initiated improvements to turn the village into a legitimate city. After Adult Link obtains the Song of Storms, he will return to Kakariko Village as Young Link and play it within the windmill. This will cause the well to dry up, allowing Link to explore it and retrieve the Lens of Truth.

Upon returning as an adult, Link discovers Kakariko Village in flames and must save Impa’s home. Sheik tells him about an evil spirit that has escaped and is destroying the town. Link must defeat the spirit – in the form of Bongo Bongo – to restore Kakariko Village to its previous state.

Once Link defeats Ganon, the end-credits scenes show many of the characters Link meets throughout the game celebrating together in Kakariko Village.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Twillight princess

During Twilight Princess, Link finds Kakariko Village again near Death Mountain. It resides in the Eldin Province, situated to the southeast of Hyrule Field. Kakariko Village is home to an inn, a hot spring, a bomb shop, and several residences. Additionally, Link will find a graveyard beyond the sanctuary.

It is in Kakariko Village that many Zora are buried, which is why it’s considered a sacred place to their people. Many important events take place in Kakariko Village, but before those take place, Link can purchase important items like bombs, the Zora Armor, and the Hylian Shield.

Unfortunately, when Link arrives at Kakariko Village, most of the townspeople have been turned into Shadow Beasts. There are only a handful of survivors, which makes the village appear deserted and desolate. Upon further inspection, Link finds some of the people taking refuge within the sanctuary.

Link is tasked with returning light to the province, and once he does, he learns that the children of the village have been abducted. The townsfolk ask Link to return with the second piece of Fused Shadow and return the children. After finding Epona and returning to Kakariko Village, Link must aid a caravan traveling from Hyrule Castle to the village.

Once Link retrieves one of the Mirror Shards from the Temple of Time, he is once again summoned to Kakariko Village. Here, he is able to help store Ilia’s memory through the use of the Horse Call, something she bestowed upon Link earlier in the game.

Link does not return to Kakariko Village throughout the rest of Twilight Princess, however, in the end-game credits, the children are seen leaving the village with some adults and returning to their homes.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

A link between worlds

If Kakariko Village looks familiar in A Link Between Worlds, that’s because it is nearly identical to its counterpart in A Link to the Past. Once again, you’ll find it in the western half of Hyrule, to the north of the desert, and a straight shot south from the Lost Woods.

Link will also find merchants and shops that mimic A Link Between Worlds, including a weather vane situated in the middle of the town. Even though the two towns are very similar, there are some differences worth mentioning. For starters, there’s a Milk Bar in A Link Between Worlds that lets Link buy milk whenever he wants it.

Kakariko Village also offers a small shop near the northern edge of town where he can buy fruit and shields. Link can also obtain a smooth gem and empty bottles within the village or participate in a mini-game. Like A Link to the Past, Kakariko Village has a counterpart, Thieves’ Town, which is where the Thieves’ Hideout is located.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Breath of the wild

In the most recent Legend of Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, Link travels to Kakariko Village to find Impa. The village is located in the West Necluda region, to the north of the Dueling Peaks stable (all you have to do is follow the road and the signs).

Kakariko Village was able to avoid destruction during the Great Calamity and looks untouched by the outside world upon Link’s arrival. The town has some gardens, several shops, a few houses, and an inn where Link can get some rest. It’s also home to Impa’s house, which is the focal point of the village.

Many villagers recognize Link due to the Sheikah Slate he wields. However, most refer to him as the Hylian Champion, as they don’t believe he is the actual Link from the stories they’ve been told. They’re also quick to point out that he can’t be the hero Link as he doesn’t have the fabled Master Sword.

Impa’s grandaughter, Paya, recognizes him for who he is and immediately takes him to her grandmother. Unfortunately, their reunion is not as exciting as Paya might have hoped since Link can’t remember Impa or anything else of importance. It is here that Impa instructs Link to visit Hateno Village and speak with Purah, the director of the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

Impa also tells him to return to her if he is able to reclaim any of his lost memories. When he does, she rewards him with the Champion’s Tunic. Just up the hill from the village is a Fairy Fountain Link can visit to earn upgrades to his armor. There are also a few shrines nearby as well.

There are many NPCs (non-player characters) throughout the game who indicate Kakariko Village was their home, including Purah and Robbie , the directors of the Ancient Tech Labs. Pikango also made Kakariko Village his home until he decided to travel and paint beautiful landscapes.

In Breath of the Wild, Kakariko Village departs from its previous architectural designs. Previous versions of the town were more influenced by medieval architecture while in Breath of the Wild they take their cues from several periods of Japan’s history.

Where to find Kakariko Village in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Image of Jason Venter

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , you’ll visit familiar locations on your way to find allies and push back darkness. There are a lot of old ruins, stables, and even a few towns where you will find hubs of activity, including side quests. Here is our guide telling you where to find Kakariko Village in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom .

Tears of the Kingdom – where to find Kakariko Village

Kakariko Village is an important destination where you’ll discover a series of ruins that feel from the sky during the aftermath of the Upheaval. It’s also a fun place to visit in general, to see how it has changed compared to its earlier depictions in A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time .

To find Kakariko Village, head southeast from Lookout Landing. The roads in that direction lead toward the West Necluda region. Kakariko Village is located on the northwestern end of that region. See the screenshot below for a map of its precise location.

You can approach most destinations in the game from north, south, east, and west. However, there usually are one or two best approaches. That’s particularly true for a place like Kakariko Village, which is surrounded by mountains.

One favored approach is to travel to Wetland Stable , which lies east and across Rebonae Bridge from Lookout Landing . From the stable, travel south while veering east. Skirt the Lanayru Wetlands and continue south to reach a point where the road continues southeast through some mountains. You’ll reach Kakariko Village along that route.

Totk Kakariko Village Heading North From Dueling Peaks Stable

I prefer approaching from Dueling Peaks Stable , to the south. Located along the banks of the Squabble River , that stable was one of my favorite locations in Breath of the Wild . From the stables, head north along the road to reach Kakariko Bridge . Cross the bridge and continue following the trail. It ascends along a mountainside and through a ravine to Kakariko Village.

Once you reach Kakariko Village, make sure to climb the hill overlooking its rooftops to activate Makasura Shrine . That way, you can fast travel back to the village when needed.

In The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom , Kakariko Village also plays a bigger role in the main story. But finding the village and learning about the Ring Ruins' ancient history can be a bit tricky. We’ll show you where it is on the map and how to grab the quest related to the ruins.

Updated by Emma Ward on November 15, 2023: This article has been updated to include improved formatting and links to additional related articles to help guide our readers to Kakariko Village, and how to uncover the history and secrets behind the Ring Ruins.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Follow the road north from the dueling peaks.

It can be tough to find Kakariko Village when your map is not entirely filled out. It is hidden deep inside a mountain range, making it tough to just accidentally stumble upon. When looking at the Hyrule map, you’ll find Kakariko Village positioned just northeast of the West Necluda mountains and to the west of Mount Lanayru.

The easiest path to the village starts at the base of the Dueling Peaks in the Sahasra Slope Skytower region. There is a river that runs through the peaks. Follow the river upward until you discover the horse stable. From here, follow the path to the north up the mountain to discover the village.

Uncovering The Mystery Behind The Ring Ruins

If you played Breath of the Wild, then you were probably shocked when you first arrived at Kakariko Village. The entire area looks completely different due to all the sky island rubble that rained down on it. After doing a little bit of exploring, you’ll likely find that one of the larger pieces that fell on the village is in a restricted area per Princess Zelda’s orders. Even your sneakiest attempts to get past the guards will fail.

To learn more about the Ring Ruins, start by finding Bugut in Kakariko Village, and he’ll give you the quest - A Trip Through History . This quest has you exploring the other four Ring Ruins around Kakariko Village in an attempt to translate the ancient slabs each of them holds. Without speaking to Bugut, you won’t be able to translate what is on those slabs, so make sure Kakariko Village is one of the first places you visit when starting the game.

The Secret Of The Ring Ruins

After exploring the four Ring Ruins around Kakariko Village, you are probably left wondering how you can get into the large one in the restricted zone. Despite how sneaky you are, or even if you try to approach the ruins from the sky, the moment you cross the barrier, you'll be kicked out.

In order to access this area, you'll actually need to complete the majority of the main story, including all four of the main temples . After doing so, you'll eventually get the Secret Of The Ring Ruins quest, which will naturally direct you back to Kakariko Village to explore the inside of the ruins in the restricted zone. Without spoiling all the details, what you find inside will help you progress through the final arc of the story.

If you want to learn even more about the history of the Ring Ruins and claim some great rewards while doing so, be sure to speak to Wortsworth in Kakariko Village after completing the quest - Camera Work In The Depths . He will give you an additional quest to find the stone tablets within the other Ring Ruins floating in the skies above Hyrule.

Kakariko Village (A Link to the Past)

Map of Kakariko Village from A Link to the Past

Kakariko Village is located in the mid-western part of the Light World , south of the Lost Woods . At one point, Link is asked by the Loyal Sage of the Sanctuary to find the wise man Sahasrahla , who at one point lived in the village. Link first talks to the presumed wife of Sahasrahla, who tells him that he has indeed left the village. Eventually, Link finds Sahasrahla's Grandson who tells him that Sahasrahla has made the Eastern Palace Ruins his new home.

Many optional side-quests can be completed in Kakariko Village, but it is also the site of the duck sealed within the Weathercock that Link needs to awaken with the Flute . Once he has done this, the duck inside the statue is released and it will transport him to certain areas in Hyrule whenever he sounds the Flute in the outside world.

Kakariko Village, as mentioned before, is located to the south of the Lost Woods, a place notorious for the thieves who reside there, and so it is not surprising that one thief, Blind , once had a permanent residence in the village. By the time Link visits the hideout, it has been abandoned, although treasures can still be found within. Blind himself turns out to have traveled to the Village of Outcasts , the Dark World 's equivalent of Kakariko Village, a haven for thieves, gambling establishments and various monsters. He was transported there either intentionally or accidentally, and turns out to be the boss of Thieves' Town , the fourth Dark World dungeon . In the Dark World, the Weathercock has been replaced by a Gargoyle Statue , which blocks the entrance to the Thieves' Town with the forks of a trident.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [ ]

Kakariko Village is located directly at the foot of Death Mountain . Villagers there recall that Impa , Zelda's nursemaid, opened the formerly Sheikah -exclusive village to the poor commoners of Hyrule (presumably not rich enough to live in Hyrule Castle Town ). Furthermore, Impa's House, inside of which is found a Piece of Heart , was opened to the public.

Dominating the landscape is a Windmill , which is used to draw water up from the Well of Three Features , the source of water for the villagers. Sheikah legend states that Impa sealed a great evil in the Bottom of the Well . Later, when Link learns the Song of Storms as an adult, playing it can overwork the Windmill, making it draw up all the water, drying up the well. This opens it up for exploration as a child to find the Lens of Truth . Another local legend states that a wise man with an eye that could see the truth lived where the well is located now. When Link is a child, Carpenters are hard at work, expanding the village so that it can one day be a "true city". The village is also guarded by three Hyrulean Soldiers : two Clock Soldiers and the Keaton Mask Soldier . The village also has a graveyard .

Kakariko Village, in Ocarina of Time

In Link's adulthood, the great evil imprisoned in the well escapes, setting fire to the village and beating Link and Sheik considerably before retreating into the Shadow Temple , situated in the back of the graveyard. Impa then goes off to imprison the great evil again, but is unsuccessful. Link must rescue her by defeating this great evil, which turns out to be an invisible "Phantom Shadow Beast", Bongo Bongo. Link can use the Lens of Truth to see the monster and slash its vulnerable eye.

During the seven-year period of turmoil in Hyrule between Link's drawing of the Master Sword and his awakening, the survivors of Ganondorf's reign of terror in Hyrule Castle Town fled to the village to escape persecution, and some of the shops are relocated there. Talon , the previous proprietor of the Lon Lon Ranch , also runs off to Kakariko Village when Ingo kicks him out. The village is also no longer guarded by Clock Soldiers.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures [ ]

Kakariko Village appears during the fifth level of the game, The Dark World . When Link arrives at Kakariko Village, it has been overrun by thieves. Much of the village has been lit on fire, by either the thieves or by Shadow Link . Many of the villagers are suspicious and act almost rude to Link, but request that he put out the fires before he leaves.

By falling down the hole to the far northwest and navigating the maze inside, Link can obtain Bombs , which can be used to enter the back of the Cucco pen. After giving one of the Cucco to the lonely widower, Link obtains a Power Bracelet , which can be used to lift trees. A man in the far northeast house requests that Link find and ten thieves and throw them into the pen outside of his house. Many thieves can be found in the open, however a few are found underground beneath trees or stones. One Thief can only be found by obtaining the shovel from the man in the house to the east. He instructs Link where to dig until he finds the hole with the Thief.

After all ten thieves have been captured, the man allows Link to progress north. By picking up the Fire Rod from beneath a large stone in the next area, Link can light the four Torches in the following area. Consequently, it begins raining, putting out the village's fires. Going back to where he got the Shovel, Link can continue east, where he must fight four Shadow Links . Once they are defeated, he can continue to the nearby river.

After following it and collecting Force Gems along the way, Link must defeat another Base Creature of Magic . Upon his defeat, the spirit of the corrupt Green Knight appears and relinquishes his Green Jewel . After breaking the Vaati Barriers , Link can continue to the Temple of Darkness .

An issue of Tingle Times can be found here warning visitors of the thieves located inside the town.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess [ ]

Kakariko Village (Twilight Princess)

Kakariko Village in Twilight Princess

Instead of being built on a terraced surface, Kakariko Village is built on a rugged cliff on the side of Death Mountain . There are several small houses, shops, a sanctuary , an inn , and a few springs located throughout the village. It also has a small Graveyard behind it. It was a small but tranquil village in the Eldin Province under the leadership of its local shaman Renado . This changed, however, when Kakariko was blanketed beneath the veil of Twilight . During this time, the majority of its inhabitants were killed by Shadow Beasts or turned into Shadow Beasts themselves, despite the efforts of rescue teams formed by villagers.

Fortunately, Link and Midna revive the Light Spirit , Eldin , and release the Twilight's grasp on Kakariko Village, saving the remaining townsfolk from destruction. Although the village is saved, however, it is still utterly devastated (partly through Link's own actions). After Link defeats Fyrus in the Goron Mines , and recovers the second Fused Shadow , the Gorons from nearby Death Mountain, the Youths from Ordon Village , and the remaining three villagers help rebuild Kakariko Village. Later in the game, Prince Ralis is transported by Telma's horse cart to Kakariko Village in order to be treated by Renado. The amnesiac Ilia who had accompanied Ralis and Telma, is left in Renado's care in the hope he can restore her memory.

It should also be noted that the only native inhabitants in the village are Renado, his daughter Luda , Barnes , and to a lesser extent, the Gorons. The rest of the inhabitants are from Ordon Village, where Link, Ilia , and the Children of Ordon ; They are in Kakariko Village because Bulblins kidnapped them and brought them to the village as prisoners. Kakariko Village is more likely to be a name derived from the Kakariko Village in Ocarina of Time , due to the knowledge of a sign in The Hidden Village that says "Welcome to Old Kakarico." Even though the spelling is different, Kakariko of Ocarina of Time and Kakarico Village seem to be the most similar. However given its proximity to Death Mountain, it may be that Kakariko Village of Twilight Princess is the same village as the one from Ocarina of Time as it was in the same general location (at the foot of Death Mountain). It is implied the Sheikah created the Hidden Village as Kakariko Village from Ocarina of Time had been opened to the Hylian poor by Impa. As no structures from Ocarina of Time remain and area is somewhat barren it is possible the original was destroyed either by volcanic activity from Death Mountain and/or Ganondorf's rampage through Hyrule before his capture and failed execution. Presumably the Hidden Village was founded by by the Sheikah away from Death Mountain and was known as Kakariko Village though its existence was presumably only known to a select few outside the Sheikah tribe. Unaware of this the Humans and/or Hylians built a new Kakariko Village over the site of the original causing the Sheikah to rename their hidden Kakariko Village.

Notably, the ghost of Queen Rutela states that the village is a sacred place to the Zora race: behind Kakariko Graveyard may be found the grave of the Zora King . The Zora Armor he made for the chosen hero was buried with him which Queen Rutela gives to Link after saving her son's life by bringing him to Renado. Ralis later visits the grave to pay his respects to his late father and mourn his mother's death as she had been executed by Zant for opposing his invasion of Zora's Domain and the rest of Hyrule. It is also suggested Ralis prays to his deceased parents for advice and guidance as it is now up to him to lead their people as he is their only child. Additionally, the area contains a passageway leading to Lake Hylia .

Kakariko village resembles boom towns of the Wild West a trait is shares with the Hidden Village.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds [ ]

Even after six generations have passed, Kakariko Village remains similar to its depiction in A Link to the Past . The village is home to the milk bar, the elder Sahasrahla , a bee hunter , and an inventory shop. The castle guards regularly patrol the village, though some merely hang out in the milk bar due to the little activity and peace in the village. To the north of the village is the Lost Woods, to the east the blacksmith's house and Hyrule Castle , and to the south is the home of the Cucco Ranch .

Link first arrives in Kakariko Village after being sent by Princess Zelda and Impa to see the village elder to warn him of a returning evil. Hearing that Seres has been captured, the elder directs Link to the Eastern Palace to prevent Osfala from investigating the place. Link returns to the village at one point after Hyrule Castle has fallen under a magical barrier to return a golden gem that was stolen by a thief back to the Zora Queen so as to gain the Flippers.

When Link discovers the parallel world of Lorule , he finds a mysterious portal in the region's Thieves' Town that links back to the Stylish Woman 's house. A portal found at the back of Sahasrahla's house will teleport Link to the north of Thieves' Town.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild [ ]

Kakariko Village (BotW)

Kakariko Village in Breath of the Wild

In Breath of the Wild , Kakariko Village is located in the northeast side of West Necluda . It is a moderately sized mountain village mainly inhabited by members of the Sheikah race. It is currently governed by Impa . The village resembles a traditional Japanese village, which fits with the Sheikah's culture and ninja-like attributes. One of Hylia 's Goddess Statues can be found in the center of the village, and several frog statues are located in front of Impa's house. Link can find several other Koroks hidden in and around Kakariko Village like most areas of Hyrule. Finding them will reward Link with one Korok Seed for each Korok he discovers. According to Impa, the Great Fairy Cotera who dwells nearby, has been watching over and protecting it since its foundation, however Link discovers that Cotera has lost much of her power as people rarely visit her.

Breath of the Wild Kakariko Village Kakariko Graveyard (West Necluda)

Kakariko Graveyard in Breath of the Wild

The town contains several shops such as The Curious Quiver , Enchanted , and High Spirits Produce . The town also has a small inn called the Shuteye Inn where visiting travelers stay. Swift Carrots and Fortified Pumpkins are a specialty of the village. Link can fish for captive breed Sanke Carp swimming in the small moat-like waterway that surrounds Impa's House and nearby Lantern Lake . The Ta'loh Naeg Shrine acts as the fast travel point for Kakariko Village, local Sheikah legend has it that by going through Ta'loh Naeg's trial, one can learn secret arts of offense and defense. The Fang and Bone shop appears next to Lantern Lake at night after Link encounters Kilton at Skull Lake in Deep Akkala . The village contains two Cooking Pots, one outside of High Spirits Produce and one east of Olkin and his wife's house. Though it is not identified as such, a small graveyard containing unmarked gravestones can be found located north of the village which serves as the game's incarnation of Kakariko Graveyard . Koko visits the graveyard in the morning to visit her mother's grave.

Kakariko Village in the intro cutscene for Twilight Field from Hyrule Warriors

A scaled down version of Kakariko Village from Twilight Princess appears as part of the Twilight Field stage in both Hyrule Warriors & Hyrule Warriors Legends .

In the Land of Twilight story scenario, it is where Lana saves Agitha from a some Dark Forces ' Bulblins & Aeralfos . As thanks for saving her, Agitha tells Lana that her Goddess Butterfly can guide her to the location of the Era of Twilight's Gate of Souls and the two leave the village by passing through Kakariko Graveyard .

The village is smaller and the layout is different from the incarnation it is based on (Kakariko Village from Twilight Princess ).

As part of the A Link Between Worlds DLC, Kakariko Village from A Link Between Worlds appears on the Hyrule portion of the Lorule Adventure Map.

In the manga adaption of Ocarina of Time Link finds himself starving on the open plains of Hyrule Field and is attacked by Impa. She nags Link for his mistakes, but in the village she teaches Link how to fight like a Sheikah. After Link understands the basics, the Well opens up and Dark Link emerges from it to fight Link.

Link defeats him by using tactics he makes up during the fight, because Dark Link can only copy what Link knew before the fight. As a reward for Link's skill the town folks give him Epona and Link receives an earring to show he is a real Sheikah.

Theories [ ]

Theory warning : This section contains theoretical information based on the research of one or several other users. It has not been officially verified by Nintendo and its factual accuracy is disputed.

Windfall [ ]

Some notice that Windfall Island seems to be related to Kakariko Village. It is possible that Windfall Island is Kakariko Village; this can be supported geologically, as Kakariko Village was located on a high hill. Dragon Roost Island , which is near Windfall, could relate to Death Mountain , and Kakariko Village was near Death Mountain, making Windfall Island a possible relocation site of citizens who escaped the Great Flood. They also have a few shared notes in their background music. It is also noteworthy that a shared feature of Kakariko and Windfall is the similarities between the Windmill and the wind-powered Ferris Wheel .

Impa's Kakariko Village [ ]

Given the fact that both villages are in the same general location and have a Graveyard, the Kakariko Village from Twilight Princess may be the same village as the one from Ocarina of Time and not the Hidden Village (which is located far from Death Mountain and lacks a Graveyard). One possibility is that after Impa opened Kakariko Village to non-Sheikah, she either founded or her tribe relocated to Old Kakarico which became the Hidden Village in order to maintain their tribes secrecy after Kakariko Village had become populated by Hylian and Human settlers. While the one in Twilight Princess lacks a Windmill, it is likely that the Windmill was torn down (possibly the no longer working correctly after to the Hero of Time played Song of Storms to drain Well of Three Features as a child) and the Sanctuary was constructed over where it once stood (as both the Sanctuary and the Windmill are connected to Kakariko Graveyard). It is possible that a new Well was constructed in the Graveyard to replace the Well of Three Features, but eventually dried up, though it was likely no longer needed due to the presence and/or discovery of Kakariko Hot Spring and the Spirit's Spring . It is possibly that volcanic and geological activity in the region altered the landscape, explaining way Kakariko Village in Twilight Princess is more barren as well as other changes in the local geology.

New Kakariko [ ]

Another possibility is that the Kakariko Village from Ocarina of Time was abandoned due to geological activity (such as a volcanic eruption or earthquake) on Death Mountain (which may have destroyed the Village or was evacuated as a precaution) and the Hidden Village was founded by Impa and other refugees from Kakariko Village. Eventually people returned to the sight of the original Kakariko Village (either rebuilding it or returning to the area once the danger had past) and Hidden Village renamed Old Kakarico , which may have been taken over by the Sheikah due to its secluded location and the original Kakariko Village (or the land it once stood upon) was turned over to Kakariko Village Hylians and Human settlers.

Theory warning : Theories end here.

Etymology [ ]

The name "Kakariko" is phonetically similar to, and may be derived from cocorico , a word used in several languages as an onomatopoeic word for the crow of a rooster.

Where Is Kakariko Village in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Answered

Where Is Kakariko Village in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Answered

Image of Gabriela Jessica

Kakariko Village is the home of the Sheikah tribe and one of several major settlements in Tears of the Kingdom . After the Upheaval, the place experienced some major changes, and players may want to visit this location to check up on old friends, such as Paya. If you need help locating Kakariko Village, you’ve come to the right place because we can tell you how to reach this settlement!

Zelda: TOTK Kakariko Village Location

Kakariko Village Location in Zelda TOTK.

Kakariko Village can be found northeast of the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower in the West Necluda region (1770, -1051, 0166) . If you haven’t unlocked the map, you can reach this area by following the southeast road from the Lookout Landing. You will eventually cross a bridge and encounter the Wetland Stable and the Tukarok shrine .

If you keep following the road southeast, you will discover another Shrine of Light, the Morok shrine . Afterward, you only need to walk a bit more until you finally reach Kakariko Village. While you’re in the settlement, don’t forget to activate the Makasura shrine so you can instantly fast-travel to the village in the future.

If you’ve played Breath of the Wild , you may already notice the massive change during Link’s absence. Several ancient Ring Ruins have fallen on the settlement, one being strictly off-limits. Should you try approaching this Ring Ruin, a researcher will order you to go away, saying that Princess Zelda has ordered everyone to not approach this area.

While in Kakariko Village, I highly recommend visiting the clothing shop to grab the Stealth armor set . Unfortunately, it is very expensive, with each piece of gear costing 5,000 Rupees! Luckily, you can drop the price by speaking to a woman named Lasli and completing the Gloom-Borne Illness side quest.

Now that you’ve found Kakariko Village , you may consider discovering another nearby settlement in Tears of the Kingdom . Hateno Village is also located in the southeastern part of Hyrule, and you may want to visit this settlement to help with the mayoral election!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Link glowing bright blue and floating as he teleports to a shrine.

Link loses a lot right at the beginning of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — almost all of his hearts, all of his abilities, his clothes, an arm, and, apparently, the ability to fast travel. Over the course of the introduction on the Great Sky Island , you’ll get a few new abilities, but you still won’t be able to fast travel just yet.

How to unlock fast travel in Tears of the Kingdom

If you’re anything like us, you probably expected Link to be able to fast travel right from the start of Tears of the Kingdom (and then got super confused when you couldn’t).

As you make your way around the Great Sky Island and complete the Shrines of Light for Rauru , you’ll pick up new abilities . After you complete the three shrines on the Great Sky Island — Ukouh Shrine , In-Isa Shrine , and Gutanbac Shrine — you’ll head to the Temple of Time to (try to) push open some doors.

Rauru will appear and explain that Link won’t be able to open the doors without visiting one more shrine. And it’s at that point that Rauru will unlock fast travel for you, allowing you to teleport to any shrine you’ve visited and, later, any Skyview Tower .

For even more flexibility with where you can fast travel, make sure to head to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab to unlock the Travel Medallion .

Stunning Zelda Master Sword Proplica Replica Goes on Sale

Zelda: tears of the kingdom reveals new artwork for first anniversary, one year later, zelda: tears of the kingdom proves the timelessness of unrestricted gameplay, quick links, where is kakariko village, how to complete codgers' quarrel side quest, follow the cuccos walkthrough, kakariko general store merchandise.

Kakariko Village may be one of the first villages that players visit in Tears of the Kingdom . After completing the tutorial mode, players are, for them most part, free to go wherever they want. Those that stop by Kakariko Village in the southeast should stop by the general store.

Unfortunately, Kakariko's general store, High Spirits Produce, is completely devoid of merchandise in Tears of the Kingdom . While an empty store is not exactly welcoming for new players, restocking High Spirits Produce is relatively simple. Complete the Codgers' Quarrel side quest, and the store will be back to normal.

RELATED: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - How To Build A Car

Kakariko Village is to the southeast of Lookout Landing around 1736, -0902, 0199 . The best way to reach this is on horseback from the Dueling Peaks Stable , but players can also use the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower and start gliding in the right direction. Another way to reach this is by gliding from Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower at 1345, -1169, 0166 .

The High Spirits Produce shop is at 1796, 1028, 0115 . Upon entering, players will notice there's only one egg for sale and nothing more. The shop owner, Trissa , will have a red exclamation point over her head, indicating she has a side quest for Link.

RELATED: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - How to Duplicate Items (Infinite Money Glitch) [Updated New Methods]

Speak to Trissa to unlock Codgers' Quarrel side quest. She'll mention that the ones (Steen and Olkin) in charge of gathering produce for the general store have gone to fight off some monsters at one of the ruins in Kakariko Village. Specifically, she says they're at the hills that lead west .

Go to 1651, -1126, 0212 on the map. As Trissa mentioned, this is west in Kakariko Village . Players will need some Stamina to scale the cliff, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue even with one Stamina Wheel.

Steen and Olkin can't seem to come to an agreement on how to deal with the enemies, meaning Link will have to take care of them himself. Go to the nearby campfire and Link will have to fight several enemies:

  • x2 Blue Bokoblins
  • x1 Silver Bokoblin

The Blue Bokoblins aren't much to worry about, but the one from above will snipe Link with arrows, so it may be better to take that one out first . An arrow the head should be enough to one shot it. It's the Silver Bokoblin that Link will need to be careful around. Silver enemies have a ton of HP and solid attack and defense, making them very dangerous for new players.

There's a ruins tablet and translation notes near the camp, so read those before leaving.

Once they're taken care of, report back to Steen and Olkin, who are in awe of Link's abilities. They'll then return to Kakariko Village and the High Spirits store will finally have everything in stock with one more exception.

It would seem everything's been restocked, but now there aren't any eggs. If players don't need eggs to be in stock at High Spirits, then they can skip this. If not, speak to Trissa once again to accept another side quest: Follow the Cuccos .

As the title indicates, players need to tail some of the Cuccos in Kakariko Village. Rest until morning , and quietly pursue them up towards the Zonai dispenser (behind the general store on the hill). They'll move to a hideaway in a hillside in the Pillars of Levia .

If Link gets caught, then the Cuccos will flee. Players can either rest until morning again, or they can just go to the Cucco Hideaway itself at coordinates: 1877, -1157, 0200 . Collect 10 eggs from the hideaway, and then return to the general store.

If players already have 10 Eggs, they can bypass this entire quest and just give them to Trissa.

RELATED: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - How to Get Ring Garland and What to Do with It

Once Codgers' Quarrel and Follow the Cuccoos has been completed, the Kakariko general store will have a modest selection of goods. These can be useful for those in the beginning stages of their journey. Items such as Goat Butter can only be bought from stores , so if players can spare the money, they should buy as much as they can/want.

Here's every item in High Spirits General Store:
