The World's Highest Grossing Tours of 2023

2023 was a serious year for live music . (Although more accurately, it was a huge year for several major headliners. Many smaller acts have faced a different story entirely).

According to analysts at Pollstar, total grosses for the top 100 tours that year were up 46 percent from $6.28 billion in 2022 to $9.17 billion last year. Attendance figures were also up, rising from 59 million to 70 million - an increase of 18.4 percent.

The following chart is based on data collected by Pollstar on the world’s highest grossing tours of 2023. It reveals that at the top of this list, comes Taylor Swift with her record-breaking “ Eras Tour ” - the first ever to break the $1 billion mark - which visited 60 stadiums in total. It was followed by Beyoncé’s “Renaissance Tour”, which grossed some $579,813,546 in 56 shows and Bruce Springsteen’s “Springsteen and E Street Band 2023 Tour” which grossed $379,496,085 across 66 venues.

Ticket prices for the top 8 grossing worldwide tours ranged between an average of $105.16 for an Ed Sheeran ticket to more than double that for Taylor Swift - $238.95.

This chart shows the box office gross of the highest-grossing music tours worldwide in 2023.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour breaks record as highest-grossing music tour ever

Taylor swift flexing bicep

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is officially the highest-grossing music tour ever, becoming the first to surpass $1 billion dollars in revenue.

The tour, which began in March 2023 and is set to conclude in December 2024 after a total of 151 shows worldwide, has earned $1.04 billion (£840 million) to date, according to Pollstar.

This breaks the record set by Elton John’s five-year farewell tour which ended earlier this year, bringing in $939 million (£749 million) over 328 shows.

Swift’s sixth concert tour is in fact so popular that it has earned more than this year’s next two highest-grossing tours (Beyoncé’s and Bruce Springsteen’s) combined.

Beyoncé’s 56-date Renaissance World Tour broke Madonna’s 14-year-old record for the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist , earning $579 million (£468 million) between May and October, before The Eras Tour subsequently took the title.

Described by Swift as a journey through all her musical “eras”, each show is over 3.5 hours long with a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 acts.

It has received immensely positive reviews from critics, who have heaped praise on the production’s concept and quality, as well as Swift’s performances.

Her devoted fanbase, the Swifties, have turned out in full force to see their idol, crashing ticketing sites, selling out hotels, and even causing earthquake-like seismic activity at certain shows, as happened in Seattle in July.

With roughly 72,000 people in attendance at each concert, and tickets averaging around $238, the tour is grossing over $17 million per show.

According to Pollstar, 4.3 million tickets have been sold to date, and at this trajectory, the tour could realistically rake in over $2 billion dollars if all the remaining scheduled shows are played.

Merchandise has also proven to be a lucrative source of revenue, with estimates that it has brought in around $200 million so far.

The Eras Tour is just one of Swift’s many successes in 2023. In addition to recently being named Time ’s Person of the Year, and the re-recording of her decade-old 1989 being the best-selling album of the year, she has broken multiple world records.

In June, she was awarded the record for the most simultaneous albums on the US Billboard 200 for a living artist, with 10 of her albums charting at the same time.

She then broke several more records in July :

  • Most US No.1 albums by a female artist – 12
  • Most US singles chart entries (female) – 212
  • Most Top 10 debuts on the US Hot 100 (female) – 31
  • Most simultaneous new entries on the Hot 100 (female) – 26
  • Most cumulative weeks at No.1 on US albums charts (solo female) – 63

And in August, she made history with the most monthly listeners on Spotify (female) , becoming the first female artist to amass 100 million.

With plans to release more music and continue on her record-breaking tour, we’ve no doubt that Taylor Swift will achieve many more Guinness World Records titles in 2024!

Rock Dominates Over Half of Billboard’s New Top 10 Highest Grossing Tours of All Time

In Billboard Boxscore 's updated list of the top 10 highest grossing tours of all time, rock holds on strong and dominates over half the list, with two other active tours by young and veteran artists bookending the ranking.

Top Grossing Tours: No. 10 - No. 5

One of those active tours is English pop superstar Harry Styles ' Love On Tour, which has been ongoing since 2021, raking in an impressive $418 million so far, which is good enough to secure the No. 10 spot.

Appearing next at No. 9 is AC/DC 's Black Ice World Tour, which took place from 2008 to 2010. Across 107 shows attended by 2.8 million people, the run grossed $442 million. Pink Floyd bassist and co-singer Roger Waters occupies No. 8 as The Wall Live took in $459 million after playing to 4.1 million people at 219 total gigs.

Coldplay , who are rock to some and not to others (we'll let you decide for yourself), brought in $524 million on the A Head Full of Dreams Tour, which made 115 stops in front of 5.4 million fans. That landed them at No. 7 on the updated list.

Coming in at No. 6 and No. 5 are The Rolling Stones , who earned $547 million and $558 million on the No Filter Tour (2017-2019, 2021) and A Bigger Bang Tour (2005-2007), respectively. Comparatively, the more recent run was comprised of 58 shows for 2.9 million people and the mid-2000s jaunt was a more exhausting 111 shows for 3.5 million fans. It's safe to say the Stones earn quite a lot more per show these days!

Top Grossing Tours: No. 4 - No. 1

One of the most attention-grabbing tours of the last decade was certainly the Not In This Lifetime... tour, which featured the return of Slash and Duff McKagan to Guns N' Roses . After playing 158 shows to a whopping 5.4 million fans, GN'R netted $584 million, which places them at No. 4 on Billboard's list.

There's a significant gap in gross sales from the first seven tours on the list and the top three, leaping from GN'R's $584 million all the way up to $736 million for U2 's 2009 through 2011 U2 360° Tour. The band played 110 shows on that run and a staggering 7.3 million people showed up.

No. 2 is another younger artist, English sensation Ed Sheeran , whose 2017 through 2019 The Divide Tour found him playing 258 gigs in front of 8.9 million fans. And $776 million was earned.

Finally, the No. 1 spot is claimed by a world-renowned legend whose tour is still ongoing, meaning these figures are going to keep increasing. Sir Elton John 's Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour initially ran from 2018 through 2020, but was interrupted by the pandemic. He got back on the road last year and, so far, this tour has brought in $853 million. The living legend's tour has sold 5.5 million tickets across 293 shows.

Past Touring Stats

In addition to tracking those top grossing tours of all time, Billboard regularly tracks the highest grossing tours of each year. Last year, the list had a healthy amount of rock and metal acts, from Iron Maiden (No. 26) through The Rolling Stones (No. 6). Read more here  and for 2021's year-end figures, head here .

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Is the Highest-Grossing of All Time and First-Ever to Hit $1 Billion

By Ethan Millman

Ethan Millman

Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour is the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, according to data from live music trade publication Pollstar , with the tour becoming the first ever to gross at least $1 billion. Swift dethrones Elton John’s years-long Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour for the top spot.

In a monumental, near-unprecedented year for a pop star, the all-time touring record is just one of the major accomplishments Swift has achieved in 2023, and perhaps her most significant financially as concert tours have become the biggest moneymaker for musicians. The Eras Tour was by far the biggest concert tour in the world this year, earning more than the next two highest-ranked tours (Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen) combined, as Pollstar data reflects.

By the time the shows actually started, each tour date became a major social media moment, and the cities she played celebrated her with honorary mayorships and temporary city name changes . A world leader even implored Swift to set aside dates in their country.

Swift’s dominance has been evident in every aspect of the music business, from concert gross and merchandise to her album sales and streams, and even in the movie theaters, where her Eras Tour film has become one of the top-grossing concert movies of all time . Spotify crowned Swift the most streamed artist of 2023 last month with over 26.1 billion global streams, which amounts to $100 million in earnings . Those streams don’t take into account the other streaming services like Apple Music and Amazon Music, or her over 5 million traditional album sales just in the U.S.

Screen Rant

Will taylor swift add the tortured poets department to the eras tour.

Taylor Swift is gearing up for her big return to the Eras Tour following her months-long break and the release of The Tortured Poets Department.

  • Taylor Swift seems to be considering adding songs from "The Tortured Poets Department" to her Eras Tour.
  • Fans speculate that one of Swift's YouTube Shorts displays new choreography and "The Tortured Poets Department" logo.
  • Potential new songs like "Fortnight" or "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" could fit into the extended Eras Tour lineup.

Taylor Swift 's global acclaim somehow keeps growing with each release, and with her latest record-breaking album, The Tortured Poets Department , many wonder if the singer will capitalize on its success and add any of its songs to the Eras Tour . The Eras Tour, Swift's sixth concert tour, features the artist performing 44 songs from nine of her albums in the span of three and a half hours. Swift embarked on the Eras Tour in March 2023 and will play her final show in December 2024 (unless she decides to add more dates).

Taylor Swift's last concert was on March 9, 2024, in Singapore, and she will resume the Eras Tour with her May 9th show in Paris.

After the Eras Tour became the highest-grossing tour ever, Swift released a concert film documenting the record-breaking experience in theaters and on Disney+. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, which didn't come as a shock to many, given Swift's recent string of achievements. Now that her eleventh studio album is also making waves following its debut on April 19, 2024, perhaps Swift will combine the two powers and add songs from The Tortured Poets Department to her setlist.

Taylor Swift Has Subtly Teased Adding The Tortured Poets Department To The Eras Tour Setlist

Swift's youtube short seemingly has hidden clues.

Taylor Swift is notorious for using Easter eggs and other clues to hint towards her future endeavors, and one of the singer's YouTube Shorts that she released following the debut of The Tortured Poets Department seemingly teases the album's addition to the Eras Tour setlist. The 15-second video includes footage from Eras Tour rehearsals, and some of Swift's choreography in the YouTube Short seemingly doesn't match up with any of the moves audiences had previously seen during the concert. The new choreography certainly implies Swift is adding new songs to the Eras Tour.

Additionally, eagle-eyed fans pointed out that one of the clips in the video shows Swift in front of a railing that appears to have The Tortured Poets Department 's "TTPD" logo on it. Of course, Swift's body covers most of it, so, one cannot confirm that it says "TTPD" until the next Eras Tour show. Even though the video is in grayscale, some also believe Swift is wielding a white microphone (she has yet to use) during some of the clips. Each Taylor Swift album has a color associated with it, and The Tortured Poets Department 's is white.

Taylor Swift's New Album Surprises Mean A Sequel To Her 4-Year-Old Disney Movie Has To Be Coming

Why adding the tortured poets department to the eras tour would make sense, the tortured poets department is a new era.

Typically, when an artist releases a new album, they go on a tour to promote said album, but Taylor Swift isn't a typical artist and the Eras Tour is not a run-of-the-mill tour. Each show features nine of Swift's different "eras," aka her albums. It starts with Lover and ends with Midnights , and it only makes sense if The Tortured Poets Department , Swift's new "era," has a place on the setlist following its release on April 19. So, fans shouldn't be shocked if and when a handful of songs from The Tortured Poets Department are added to the Eras Tour .

Which The Tortured Poets Department Songs Are Most Likely To Be Added To The Eras Tour?

Swift's new album has many songs that would fit into the eras tour.

The Tortured Poets Department (including tracks from Taylor Swift's The Anthology surprise addition to the album) features 31 songs, with "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, serving as the record's first single. Consequently, if Swift is including songs from The Tortured Poets Department in her upcoming Eras Tour shows, "Fortnight" is all but a guarantee on the setlist (even if Post Malone will not be performing at every concert). "Down Bad," "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," "The Tortured Poets Department," and "So, Long London" also have a good chance of making the cut.

If Swift cut some of the already-established songs from the Eras Tour, The Tortured Poets Department could find a place in the concert.

The aforementioned tracks are performing the best on the charts (even though all The Tortured Poets Department 's songs are doing exceptionally well), so, it would make sense to add them. Several of Swift's Track 5's are already on the setlist — "The Archer" from Lover , "Tolerate It" from Evermore , "Delicate" from Reputation , "All Too Well" from Red , and "My Tears Ricochet" from Folklore — so, "So Long, London" would be another obvious addition. Meanwhile, "Down Bad" and "The Tortured Poets Department" would sound good in a stadium setting, and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" references Swift's experience with the Eras Tour.

There Is Only 1 Thing Missing From Taylor Swift's Career After The Eras Tour Movie's Success

The problem with taylor swift adding the tortured poets department songs to the eras tour, the eras tour is already so long.

While adding songs from The Tortured Poets Department to the Eras Tour would be amazing, it would also be difficult to pull off. Taylor Swift already performs 44 songs in one show, bumping the concert's time to almost three and a half hours, and it would be unfeasible for her to stretch it out to four hours. Swift may seem like Superwoman onstage, but singing and dancing for four hours (a few nights in a row) would tire just about everyone. The artist even cut her debut album from the Era Tour's setlist because its inclusion would make the concert too long.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will return to the United States in late 2024 as the singer-songwriter added shows in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis (places she didn't go to during her first U.S. run).

However, if Swift cut some of the already-established songs from the Eras Tour, The Tortured Poets Department could find a place in the concert. The Folklore and Midnights sets have seven songs each, some of which could be taken off the setlist (even though they would be greatly missed). Meanwhile, Lover , Evermore , and 1989 's sets could also be condensed to accommodate the artist's eleventh studio album. Perhaps Taylor Swift will wait to show off her songs from The Tortured Poets Department on a different tour, but it would make the most sense if she performed some during the Eras Tour.

AAPI 2024

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and this year’s theme has been dubbed “Advancing Leaders Through Innovation” by the Federal Asian Pacific American Council. The organization not only works to support AAPI leaders in government, but to empower AAPI individuals all around the world to find success and growth in their careers in all fields.

Popular on Variety

Warda Baig  Live Nation Global tour promotion

Baig works with a diverse mix of artists and genres, including Daniel Caesar, Niall Horan, NF, TLC, and Shaggy. She also played a major role in promoting Kendrick Lamar’s “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers” tour in 2022, one of the top-grossing hip-hop tours of all time.

Warda’s current slate of tours includes Maggie Rogers, Tye Tribbett and Friends, and Daryl Hall and Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton. She works closely with Live Nation’s External Resource Group, Asian Nation, overseeing the production of events that aim to raise awareness, educate, and celebrate Asian culture.

Have you seen progress in the music industry as far as AAPI representation?

What do you think is the most pressing issue the AAPI community is facing?

We need to focus on continuing to develop AAPI leaders, particularly for positions in C-suites, boardrooms, and other leadership roles across the industry.

Nick Barr Pulse Senior vice president

Barr is currently works in A&R and leads digital marketing at the publishing and management outfit. Previously a VP of A&R and creative strategy at Island Records, at that company he played a key role in signing and developing new talent such as Charlieonnfriday and led campaigns for Sabrina Carpenter — whose song “Nonsense” garnered nearly a billion streams across all platforms — along with Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Lauren Spencer-Smith and more.

Barr began his music career while attending college in Louisville, Kentucky, and worked with R&B stars Bryson Tiller and Khalid early in their careers. Barr has also been on Lil Tjay’s management team for the past five years, and works with 14-year-old country-pop artist Maddox Batson.

Yes, I definitely think so. It’s great to see executives like [Warner Records EVP] Karen Kwak and [Warner Chappell publishing VP] Jon Chen, and artists like Keshi, Joji, and newcomer Beabadoobee. However, I saw a recent study that 44% of U.S. citizens cannot name a single famous Asian-American, and that is a problem.

The biggest issue is still an overall lack of community, support and representation. I had the privilege of sitting on the Universal Music Group AAPI executive committee with great UMG executives Barry Fernando and Raymond Mai, and that is a great start — but we all need to do better.

In addition to increased visibility for AAPI execs and artists, I think more progress starts with empowering the next generation of young AAPI executives, artists, and creatives alike — while supporting their ambitions in letting them know that yes, it is possible to have a career and be successful as an Asian-American in the entertainment industry.

Michael Chua Ticketmaster VP of global business development & strategic partnerships

Chua is a driving force behind securing high-impact deals with major platforms such as Snap, TikTok , and Google. These partnerships create new pathways for fans to discover live entertainment events while simultaneously empowering artists to reach new audiences.

Have you seen progress in the music industry as far as AAPI representation?

Yes – but it’s still early innings. Largely as a reaction to the rise in anti-Asian racism during the pandemic, the AAPI community over the last few years has galvanized like never before to change the cultural narrative surrounding us, on our terms and through our voices. This has led to a creative boom in distinctly Asian-led stories and casts attaining commercial success on a global basis in film and television. I truly believe that this groundswell will cross over to other cultural categories, including comedy and music — in fact, you’re starting to see this already. There’s pent-up demand for diversity on our screens and stages, which is being met by a growing pipeline of AAPI artists and creators who are inspired by increasingly more examples of success around them.

Representation, however, is also critical behind the scenes. We need to continue cultivating the next generation of AAPI leaders and similarly show them that ceilings can be broken. I’m constantly inspired by AAPI leaders in our industry, like Christine Cao (of Live Nation Concerts) who are true change-makers that invest in Asian talent on and off our stages.

What do you think is the most pressing issue the AAPI community is facing?

Asian leaders have a responsibility. While we’re starting to see more Asian executives in positions of influence, they’re still the ones who are “breaking through” against the statistics. Asians as a group see one of the biggest drop-offs in senior and executive management representation. It’s our job as leaders to reach back and pull our community up through guidance, coaching, and mentorship, so that representation becomes the norm and not the exception. Trailblazers need to show others the trail.

Janet Kim UTA Music agent

Kim represents a wide array of clients such as ABS-CBN, AleXa, BUSTED, eaJ, Gottmik, Joe Jonas, Johnny Orlando, KARD, Natalie Jane, Paris Hilton, Plastique, Violet Chachki, Zolita, Patrick Martin, and more.

Alongside global co-head of music David Zedeck, Kim works to expand the K-Pop roster for UTA, signing top names like PSYand KARD and working with upcoming acts like Billlie, LUCY and STAYC.

Kim has also been working with Paris Hilton to continue to expand and develop her brand, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community. Kim helped secure Hilton’s Pride Month kickoff concert in June 2023, which took place at the Fonda Theatre with special guests Saweetie and Kim Petras.

In the multi-hyphenate space, Kim represents Golden Globe winning and Emmy-nominated actress, singer and activist, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez. She performed on the main stage at LA Pride last summer and the main stage at Nashville Pride, booked by Kim and her colleagues.

AAPI is a very small label for a very diverse and complex group of people. Although there is a megaphone on certain genres of music coming out of Asia, there are still many AAPI artists and voices not being heard. The big business and pop culture penetration of certain Asian genres has benefitted AAPI artists here in the States by proving the viability of Asian talent. However, there is still so much more to discover and support. Also, when it feels like there is only room for a couple of AAPI artists to break through, it creates an environment of silos. The most pressing issue facing the AAPI music industry community is not having a community yet! There were too few AAPI artists to even be a “group,” and although it is slowly growing, we’re still too divided to be called a community.

Zeena Koda Asian American Collective Co-founder

As the co-founder of this AAPI non-profit, Koda leads its focus on mentorship, community and raising awareness for the music and creative industries. Koda is also a board member of FACE, a non-profit aimed at amplifying Filipino creatives in media and bringing them to the forefront, as well as a Grammy Academy member helping launch the Grammy Gold Alliance this year.

A 15-year veteran of the music, brand, tech and entertainment industries, Koda led Urban Digital Marketing for Atlantic and Motown Records, working with Grammy-winning artists like Nipsey Hussle, Meek Mill, Hayley WIlliams and Lil Yachty. Previously, at Cornerstone Agency she served as a key strategist for lifestyle campaigns integrating artists for Converse and Vitaminwater, as well as digital campaigns for A24 and record labels. She’s also a former SiriusXM media personality and podcast host.

There has not only been incredible progress, but it feels like there finally is a seat at the table for us in the larger scheme of media. When you look at who is moving global music, acts like Seventeen and Stray Kids are dominating revenue-generation at the top. The Recording Academy has finally launched the Gold Alliance, aimed at giving more visibility to AAPI musicians and professionals across its network. 88rising has generated one of the biggest global festivals. Gold House has created a space for visibility at the highest tiers. Many community organizations like ours, Asian American Collective, have transformed what community looks like for API’s and connected creatives across interests. We’re seeing more and more organic and authentic representation across the industry because more of us are filling these seats.

Nina Lee  Oriel Company VP of communications

With over a decade of PR experience, Lee spearheads campaigns and strategy for major artists like Maxwell, Daniel Caesar, No ID, Betty Who, Hannibal Buress and 88rising’s Joji and Rich Brian as well as up-and-comers like D4vd and UMI. A first-generation Korean American and New York University graduate, Lee began her career at Press Here Publicity before moving over to Shore Fire Media in 2015, and joined Oriel six years later.

Yes! There certainly has been progress in recent years. Asians and Asian-Americans are making strides and gaining visibility and recognition across multiple genres, from R&B and hip-hop to pop and alternative. I feel lucky to represent acts like Rich Brian, Joji, Audrey Nuna, and UMI, who are all making strides in an industry that does not have a long track record of making Asian artists into stars — not to mention working on massive live events like Head in the Clouds New York Music & Arts Festival, curated by 88rising. This is an event created by and catering to Asians and Asian-Americans — it’s not something I could have dreamed of when I was younger.

However, challenges and underrepresentation will of course continue to persist, and there’s still work to be done to ensure equitable opportunities and recognition for AAPI artists. Advocates and industry insiders need to continue to push for more diversity and inclusion in the music industry, both on and off the stage.

The model minority myth is a harmful stereotype that suggests certain minority groups, particularly Asian-Americans, are inherently successful, hardworking and academically or economically high-achieving.

In the context of the music industry, the model minority myth can manifest in various ways. For example, AAPI artists may be pressured to conform to certain stereotypes or expectations, limiting their creative expression and opportunities. The same goes for executives.

Addressing the model minority myth in the music industry requires challenging these ideas that have been baked into us while amplifying diverse voices and experiences and advocating for equitable opportunities and representation for all artists. It’s essential to recognize the complexity and diversity within AAPI communities and to create spaces that allow for authentic and inclusive storytelling in music.

Ellen Lu   Goldenvoice Vice president

Absolutely. Now more than ever, people’s palate for global entertainment has expanded, and we see that through the music, films, TV shows, books and more that people are consuming. Plus, there’s a new generation of homegrown Asian-American talent at the forefront of this movement, redefining the landscape of representation in music for our community. We’re also seeing a shift happening behind the scenes across all sectors of the music industry, and this shift is credited to those who paved the way before us: Instead of continuing to walk ahead without looking back, a lot of them have turned around to reach for us and pull us up.

In the same breath as my answer above, there’s still a lot of progress to be made when it comes to AAPI representation. There’s a disconnect when it comes to a more holistic representation of the AAPI community beyond East Asian representation (Korea, China, and Japan). Asia is vast and encompasses so many other countries, so when we speak of AAPI representation it needs to include South and South-East representation. Although many strides have been made (and we should be proud of it!), we need to strive for a more inclusive concept of true representation for our community.

Brittany Nguyen  Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records Director of marketing

A Los Angeles native, Nguyen oversees marketing strategy for such acts as Lana Del Rey, Imagine Dragons, Karol G, D4vd, Role Model, Cuco and more. Previously, Nguyen was a member of the marketing team at AWAL, where she worked on campaigns for Lauv, Girl in Red, Steve Lacy, Mxmtoon, Kim Petras and Snoh Aalegra, as well as the Asian-American-centric label and platform 88rising.

I feel very lucky that I’ve always had exceptional AAPI mentors in my life, but it’s much easier to connect with others across the community nowadays. When I first started in music, it was hard to find and connect with people who looked like me — I didn’t know there were so many AAPI in music. I joined 88rising because I was deeply drawn to work for my culture. When I left in 2021, I was scared I wouldn’t ever be able to find a community of incredible, smart, creative AAPI executives and work with them in the same way as I did at 88.

There’s still a disconnect with AAPI coverage in media. I wish more people paid attention to AAPI stories – good or bad – and not just during APAHM. Within our own community, we’re often taught to respect hierarchy, to concede to authority, and to be grateful for what we already have. But it’s not enough to just be here. We also need to be talked about, celebrated, and seen. Visibility and recognition are outcomes we must keep pushing for.

Vivian Phan TikTok Senior manager of label & promotion partnerships

In her role managing relationships with major label partners and marketing initiatives, Phan’s recent campaigns for viral tracks include Thủy’s “Girls Like Me Don’t Cry” (sped up), Justine Skye’s “Collide” (sped up) and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things.”

A Vietnamese-American native of Orange County, Phan was a pre-med student before joining the Crowd Surf marketing agency in 2015. She eventually lauched her own digital marketing and social media business; over the years she has worked closely with artists such as Becky G and CNCO, spearheading their social media strategies. She is also a member of the Asian-American Collective, where she has served as a mentor.

There’s been a lot of progress since I started in music 10 years ago. I remember being the only AANHPI employee at one of my jobs – there wasn’t representation like there is now. Today, our brothers and sisters are in leadership roles, there are community groups like AAC and [the AAPI female-owned clothing brand] Asian-American Girl Club, and there are Vietnamese-American artists like Thủy and Tongan-American artists like Dinah Jane who are making an impact in music and throughout our communities. However, there will always be more work to be done. It’s important that our community continues to support and uplift one another because no one else is going to care as much as we do. That’s what my late dad taught me through his advocacy for our local Vietnamese community. He’s the reason for my passion and dedication to this.

Frankie Yaptinchay Amazon Music Senior industry relations lead

Yaptinchay has spearheaded the Amazon Music and Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective’s work to launch a HBCU Scholarship program called Your Future Is Now. This program offers HBCU students a $10,000 scholarship and a week-long immersive program to meet with Amazon Music department leads. This initiative has donated music equipment grants to five HBCUs and created 12 scholarships for students pursuing a career in the music business.

He is also a Recording Academy Governor and Co-Founder of the Gold Music Alliance (GMA). This new collective was launched during the 2024 Grammy week and is the first API focused initiative at the Recording Academy, amplifying Asian and Asian Americans in the music industry. He also spearheaded a collaboration with Asian American Girl Club.

Absolutely. There has always been AAPI representation in the music industry, the big difference now is that the contributions of Asian and Asian Americans are being recognized on a larger scale. And this isn’t just in music. Across fashion, film, TV, sports, and food, the AAPI community is driving the culture forward. We still have a long way to go, but in the past few years I’ve seen progress in the accessibility of AAPI professionals and creatives in the music industry.

Just look at the wide array of Asian and American talent featured at marquee festivals like Coachella this year. The prominent placement of 88Rising, Thuy, Ateez, the Rose, Yoasobi & Le Sserafim, Peggy Gou, and more at these events demonstrates the global impact these artists are making at the highest level. These artists are breaking down barriers and making history, and I couldn’t be prouder on the visibility they are providing for future generations. I also love seeing the community supporting one another in driving representation forward thanks to AAPI focused organizations like Goldhouse, Character Media, Asian American Collective to allies like the Recording Academy that have highlighted and celebrated Asian representation across diverse creator communities.

As strong as the AAPI community is, I still believe we can grow stronger together. We need more collaboration! There are so many amazing different groups doing incredible work in the industry, and I feel there are still dots to be connected to amplify their contributions on a global level (not to mention, finding one another). I think the AAPI community still faces issues accessing roles, networks, and resources. I also believe AAPI creators still are searching for community even amongst their own peer groups. I’d love to see the growth within the community internally to help grow the framework and build avenues for the next generation.

About Porter Robinson:

At age 18, the North Carolina-based producer and songwriter burst onto the scene with a complex, bombastic brand of electro-house. Following the major success of his 2014 debut album Worlds , Porter released the RIAA Gold single “Shelter” with Madeon in 2016, followed by a Shelter Live Tour spanning 43 dates and four continents. The following year, Porter began releasing music under a new alias, Virtual Self, which led to his first Grammy nomination for the BBC Radio 1 hit single “Ghost Voices.” In 2019, Porter put on the first Second Sky Festival, which sold out all 30,000 tickets for the two-day festival in a single day. In both 2020 and 2021, Porter Robinson hosted editions of his virtual festival Secret Sky, amassing over 6 million viewers combined, and which came to be regarded as the most sophisticated virtual festivals of its time. Later in 2021, following the release of sophomore album Nurture, Second Sky Festival made its return to the Bay Area, selling out 40,000 tickets in a single day. Immediately following, the Nurture Live North American Tour sold over 150,000 concert tickets and was the highest grossing electronic tour of 2021. In 2022, in partnership with Riot Games, Robinson released “Everything Goes On” surpassing 100 million global streams . Later that year was his debut of one of two exclusive full live band performances, first at Second Sky 2022 and again in 2023 at the Coachella Main Stage.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Disney / Marvel Studios

Hindsight is 20/20 when it comes to the success of Disney/Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 . The movie repped James Gunn’s final ride with Marvel Studios as the filmmaker took on the co-chief role at Warner Bros’ DC Studios; in fact, he did press for this film while running DC last summer. At the time, many feared superhero fatigue as GOTG 3 opened domestically to $118.4 million, which for a film kickstarting the summer during the first weekend of May was one of the lower totals — just north of Sony’s first Spider-Man  movie in 2002 (the first movie ever to open north of $100M, and the film that started the superhero millennium blaze). Also heavy on the mind was that the domestic start was 37% off from the opening of 2022’s summer starter  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($187.4M). Global opening for GOTG 3 was $282M.

THE BOX SCORE

The bottom line.

While love for the franchise fueled ticket sales to Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 (in Screen Engine/Comscore exits, 58% of moviegoers during opening weekend said the main reason they saw the threequel was because it was part of a franchise they cherish), the Disney marketing machine, here with a global P&A of $160M, made this movie a summer destination. That includes a Super Bowl pregame spot. In regards to the social media push, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was boosted by the power of its cast (including Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan) that counted 350M followers, which took the entire social media universe for the movie to 704M — higher than the online reach of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (669M). Promotional partners offset marketing costs at $90M. The $180M figure includes the amount for which Disney sells the film to itself, Disney+ being the pay-one window for the studio’s movies. Evidence that the days of Bob Chapek’s day-and-date shenanigans are behind it, and that the studio is a practitioner of the theatrical windows, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrived on Disney+ 90 days after opening in cinemas.

The best time to visit Russia is during the months of May to September. Although Russia is the largest country and weather can vary vastly, the popular cities and locations in Russia will be experiencing a warm weather and long, sunny days during this time.

You can expect to spend around $60 – $80 for a solo traveler staying at a decently rated hotel. This price will cover food, transportation and other fees. For a more luxurious vacation, you will be spending anywhere from $150 – $250.

Russia has a lot of specialties attached to it. From ballet and theatre to vodka and Russian culture, there is a lot to expect. Famous landmarks include Lake Baikal, The Red Square, The Hermitage and Moscow Metro System.

Being the largest country on the planet, there is definitely a lot of area to cover in Russia. However, most of Russia is barren and uninhabitable. For popular tourist destinations, 2 weeks should be enough for a majestic experience of Russian culture, nature and food.

The most iconic Russian dishes include the Blini (Russian pancakes), Pelmeni, Beef Stroganoff, Syrniki, Kasha (porridge), Borscht and Okroshka. Russia is also famous for their world-renowned vodka.

Lucky Daye Announces The Algorithm Tour: Here Are the Dates

Trending on billboard.

Bad Bunny pulls out of a tie with Beyoncé and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to have the second-most monthly wins, trailing only Elton John with seven.

Bad Bunny’s biggest stops during March were in Los Angeles and Chicago. Three nights in each city score him Nos. 2-3 on Top Boxscores, with $20.2 million at the former’s Crypto.com Arena on March 13-15, and $13.4 million at the latter’s United Center on March 28-30. All of his shows earned more than $3 million.

The Most Wanted Tour began on Feb. 21 in Salt Lake City. The first handful of shows secured a No. 10 rank on February’s tally with $19.5 million in the bank. All told, the trek has earned $84.2 million and sold 282,000 tickets so far, with 30 dates left to report through two hometown shows on June 7-8 at San Juan’s Coliseo de Puerto Rico. At his current pace of more than $4 million per show, the tour is likely to sail across the $200 million threshold.

Zach Bryan follows closely behind at No. 2, with $62.3 million and 313,000 tickets, falling just 4% short of Bad Bunny’s winning gross.

Bryan is in the middle of The Quittin Time Tour, which launched on March 5 and managed 18 shows before the end of March. Its’ so-far total of $62 million is already far beyond the $43.9 million he earned on 2023’s 32-date Burn Burn Burn Tour. In fact, it only took 13 shows to pass that mark, representing a 150% increase in per-show earnings since just last year.

More specifically, last year Bryan played two shows in New York at Queens’ Forest Hills Stadium. For the Quittin Time Tour, he expanded to six, split between Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Belmont Park’s UBS Arena and Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center. He didn’t visit Chicago in 2022 or 2023 but kicked off this year’s run with three sold-out shows at the United Center, generating $12.6 million in ticket sales for No. 5 on Top Boxscores.

Bryan has nearly 50 more shows on the books in 2024, one-third of which bring him to football stadiums. Already 50% beyond his 2023 grosses, he’s likely to join Bad Bunny in the $200 million club by year’s end.

Women dominate much of March’s top 10, with P!nk and Madonna at Nos. 3 and 4. The former banked $55.1 million and sold 543,000 tickets from 11 shows, scoring the month’s highest attendance count. The latter added $37.9 million to The Celebration Tour, which crossed $200 million in early April. The queen of pop’s tour wrapped last week (April 26 – except for one free show on May 4 in Brazil) with final numbers expected to be reported soon.

Karol G and Nicki Minaj represent Latin and hip-hop at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. For Karol G, it’s a continuation of a winning streak that began with the kick-off of the Manana Sera Bonito tour last August. For Minaj, it’s her first monthly Boxscore appearance, with the first batch of shows on the Pink Friday 2 World Tour bringing in $26.9 million.

Three festivals appear on Top Boxscores, topped off by Pa’l Norte in Monterrey, Mexico at No. 1. The weekend-long festival grossed $26.2 million on March 29-31, nearly tripling its 2022 revenue of $9.3 million. At No. 6 is Esterio Picnic with $11.8 million. Both events are promoted by OCESA, helping the Mexican juggernaut rank at No. 3 on Top Promoters.

Across the Pacific Ocean, Pitch Music & Arts Festival represents for Melbourne, Australia, at No. 16 with $8.4 million and 35,900 tickets sold between March 8-12. Otherwise, Oceania is bolstered by several appearances by P!nk, including top 10s for shows in Melbourne and Perth.

Asia sneaks onto the Boxscores ranking, with Ed Sheeran and SEVENTEEN rounding out the chart at Nos. 29 and 30. Both hover around $6 million, with Sheeran in Manilla, Philippines and SEVENTEEN in Incheon, South Korea.
