If you are a senior citizen and sitting alone in your home with nothing to do but read or watch TV, you are missing out on something really great! Journey's Way is the place you need to visit. A senior center with more things to do than you can imagine, this is where you need to come to really start living again! There is virtually something for everyone, and I know this to be true because I have been a member there since 2011. I originally joined to learn how to play bridge but over the years, I've done so many different things there that I have yet to join the bridge group! Music, art, crafts, reading, writing, discussion groups, help with modern technology (computer, iPhone, iPad help), jewelry making, and so, so much more - you really need to stop in and talk to Mark Weber, who will arrange for a guided tour of the place. Some people like to just come for lunch or bingo, and that is perfectly fine, too. Yes, we offer bingo each week, and have delicious luncheon meals every day there. There are many specials that happen at JW as well - far too many things to do to list here! Call or stop in and if you like it, you can join. Membership is not mandatory, but it does grant certain privileges. You do not need to be alone anymore. Come meet and make some new friends and see how great being a 'senior ager' can be.

Complete List Of All Journey Current And Former Band Members

Journey Band Members

Feature Photo: Bruce Alan Bennett / Shutterstock.com

I first fell in love with the band Journey when I was in high school and brought the band’s album Infinity when it was first released. Their record company Columbia Records at the time heavily promoted the album. It was Steve Perry’s first recording with the band and Columbia knew they had a hit on their hands. I was blown away by Steve Perry’s voice and completely floored by how great the songs were on the record. Journey became one of the biggest bands of the seventies. They helped define the term “Stadium Rock.” The band has gone through multiple lineup changes over the years.  This article takes a look at the revolving door of musicians who have come and gone as members of the band Journey .

The Orginal Journey Band Members

Neal Schon, born on February 27, 1954, in Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist for Journey. He was one of the founding members of the band in 1973. Over the years, Schon played a significant role in shaping the band’s sound and has appeared on every Journey album to date, from their self-titled debut album “Journey” (1975) to their most recent releases. He primarily plays the electric guitar but has been known to play acoustic guitar and perform backing vocals as well. Schon co-wrote some of the band’s most iconic songs like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Wheel in the Sky,” and “Any Way You Want It.” Besides his work with Journey, Neal Schon has had a rich solo career and has also been a part of other bands like Santana and Bad English .

Ross Valory

Ross Valory, born on February 2, 1949, in San Francisco, California, is an American musician renowned for being Journey’s original bass guitarist. He joined the band at its inception in 1973 and contributed to albums like “Journey” (1975), “Infinity” (1978), “Escape” (1981), and many more. Valory played both the bass guitar and occasionally provided backing vocals. He was a part of Journey until he was fired from the band in 2020. Apart from Journey, Valory was involved in the Steve Miller Band and also had a side project called “The Vu.”

Gregg Rolie

Gregg Rolie was born on June 17, 1947, in Seattle, Washington, and is an American keyboardist and singer. He was a founding member of Journey and joined the band in 1973. Rolie played keyboards and was the lead vocalist on the band’s first three albums: “Journey” (1975), “Look into the Future” (1976), and “Next” (1977). He left Journey in 1980 to pursue other musical endeavors. Notably, he was a member of Santana before joining Journey and co-wrote and sang lead vocals on classics like “Black Magic Woman” and “Evil Ways.” After leaving Journey, he went on to form The Gregg Rolie Band and also joined Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band .

George Tickner

George Tickner, born on September 8, 1946, in Syracuse, New York, is an American musician who played rhythm guitar for Journey. He was among the original members when the band was founded in 1973 but left shortly after the release of the band’s self-titled debut album in 1975. Tickner contributed to the writing of some early songs but didn’t stay with the band long enough to participate in the more commercial phases of Journey’s career. After leaving Journey, Tickner largely retired from professional music to pursue a career in medicine.

Charles “Prairie” Prince

Charles “Prairie” Prince, born on May 7, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina, was the original drummer for Journey when the band was formed in 1973. However, he never officially recorded with the band and left before their debut album was made. He is best known for his work with The Tubes , a San Francisco-based rock band. Though his time with Journey was short-lived, Prince has had a significant career in music, working with artists like Todd Rundgren, and Jefferson Starship, and as a session musician for various other artists.

The Next Phase and Beyond

Aynsley dunbar.

Aynsley Dunbar, born on January 10, 1946, in Liverpool, England, is a British drummer known for his work with various rock and blues bands. He joined Journey in 1974, shortly after the band’s formation, and played on the albums “Journey” (1975), “Look into the Future” (1976), and “Next” (1977). Dunbar’s jazz-influenced drumming style added a unique element to Journey’s early sound. He left the band in 1978 before the band shifted to a more mainstream, commercial sound. Apart from Journey, Dunbar has had an extensive career, playing with artists like Frank Zappa, David Bowie, and Whitesnake.

Robert Fleischman

Robert Fleischman, born on March 11, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, is an American musician who briefly served as Journey’s lead vocalist in 1977. Outside of Journey, Fleischman had a solo career and was a member of other rock bands like Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

Steve Perry

Steve Perry played a significant role in Journey’s commercial success and was a key contributor to albums like “Infinity” (1978), “Evolution” (1979), “Escape” (1981), among others. He co-wrote and sang some of Journey’s most famous songs, including “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Open Arms.” Perry left the band in 1998 due to health issues and to pursue a solo career, which itself has been highly successful, featuring hits like “Oh Sherrie.”

Steve Smith

Steve Smith, born on August 21, 1954, in Whitman, Massachusetts, is an American drummer. He joined Journey in 1978, replacing Aynsley Dunbar, and played on some of their most successful albums like “Evolution,” “Escape,” and “Frontiers.” Known for his technical skill, Smith left the band in 1985 but returned for various stints, the latest being from 2015 to 2020. Outside of Journey, Smith has had a rich career in jazz and has been part of his own jazz fusion band, Vital Information.

Randy Jackson

Randy Jackson, born on June 23, 1956, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is an American musician, best known as a judge on the television show “American Idol.” He joined Journey as a bass player for a short stint during the mid-1980s and played on the 1986 album “Raised on Radio.” Jackson was part of the band’s transition towards a more pop-oriented sound during that period. Besides Journey, he has been an in-demand session musician and has produced and performed with a wide array of artists across genres.

Steve Augeri

Steve Augeri, born on January 30, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American rock singer best known for his work as the lead vocalist for Journey from 1998 to 2006. Some basic editing techniques, such as cropping and adjusting the exposure, can help to bring out the best in the photos.

For more advanced techniques, such as color grading and sharpening, it is best to consult with a professional photographer.

Sharing journey photos can be a great way to share the experience with family and friends, as well as to connect with other travelers.

Social media platforms make it easy to post photos and share stories about the journey, allowing others to virtually experience the journey alongside you.

Additionally, websites such as Flickr and 500px allow for a more in-depth look at the journey, with the ability to post more detailed descriptions and stories.

In conclusion, the editing and sharing of journey photos is an important part of the journey photography experience.

Editing photos can help to enhance the beauty and emotion of the journey, and sharing photos can help to spread the experience to others.

By utilizing social media platforms, websites, and even printing and framing photos, it is possible to capture and share the beauty of the journey with the world.

Journey Photography Equipment

Journey photography is a unique art form that requires the right equipment to capture the beauty of any journey.

While most cameras will work for journey photography, having the right gear can make a huge difference in the quality of the photos you take.

Here are some essential pieces of equipment to consider for journey photography: 1.

Camera: First and foremost, having a reliable digital camera is key for journey photography.

Look for a camera with a wide range of features, such as a high resolution, long battery life, and a wide selection of shooting modes.

Tripod: A tripod will help you capture crisp and shake-free images, even in low-light settings.

Look for a lightweight and sturdy option that can be easily packed away for your next journey.

Lenses: Different lenses will help you capture different types of photos.

Look for a wide-angle lens for landscapes, a telephoto lens for distant subjects, and a macro lens for close-up shots.

Memory Cards: Memory cards are essential for storing your photos securely.

Look for a high-capacity and fast-writing memory card to ensure your photos are safe and sound.

Accessories: Accessories such as a remote shutter release and filters can help you take your journey photography to the next level.

Consider what type of accessories you need and invest in quality pieces that will last.

By investing in the right equipment, you can take your journey photography to the next level and capture stunning images of your travels.

With the right gear, you can share your journey with the world and create lasting memories.

Final Thoughts

Journey photography is a wonderful way to capture the beauty, joy, and unique experiences of lifes journeys.

From documenting a road trip to capturing a breathtaking landscape, journey photography allows us to share our memories and adventures with the world.

With the right equipment, a good eye for composition, and some practice, you can begin your journey in journey photography.

So what are you waiting for? Lets start creating lasting memories with journey photography!.

We traveled from Canada to Seattle by ferry with a car for $150. After 5 ½ hours, I wished I'd just left my vehicle at home.

  • I travel between Canada and the US often, and I recently took a route that used a car ferry.
  • With two passengers and a car, the trip cost about $150, and it took about five and a half hours.
  • I don't necessarily think having your car adds to the trip, so I'd take a passenger boat next time.

Insider Today

Nearly 400,000 people travel between Canada and the US daily, and one of the best parts of living in Victoria, British Columbia, is its relative proximity to the state of Washington.

It's common for locals to spend a weekend in Seattle to catch a sports game, see a concert, or do some cross-border shopping.

But even though the cities are pretty close, getting there can be a headache if you don't know what you're doing. Victoria, BC , is located on an island, so unless you're flying, you'll need to take a boat.

Under ideal conditions, traveling there with your car takes at least four to five hours. But when you factor in ferry times, potential delays due to weather, border wait times , traffic, and stopping for gas, it can easily become an eight-hour journey.

Recently, a friend and I took the car ferry between Victoria to Vancouver to get to Seattle. Here's how it went, and what you need to know before booking a trip.

There are several options for getting to mainland Washington from Victoria, BC.

journey's way photos

The Victoria Clipper offers the fastest direct route between Victoria and Seattle, but it's a passenger-only ferry.

If you want to take your vehicle, you'll either need to take the Blackball "Coho" Ferry to Port Angeles, Washington, or BC Ferries to Vancouver and drive two to three hours to Seattle.

We wanted to stop at Seattle Premium Outlets in Tulalip, Washington (about an hour outside of Seattle). And since we'd be stateside, we'd have the opportunity to stop at Trader Joe's to stock up on our favorite American snacks.

Having a car would make both pit stops easier, so we decided to book tickets on BC Ferries.

Tickets vary depending on your vehicle, the number of passengers, and their ages. Vehicles under 20 feet cost 67.40 Canadian dollars, or about $49, each way. But that cost doesn't include the driver or any other passengers.

Adult fares are 19.10 CAD each way, so our total for one way on the ferry was 105.6 CAD.

If you’re traveling on a weekend, make a reservation and get there early.

journey's way photos

Since we were taking our car, we needed to factor in the driving time to the ferry dock in Swartz Bay, located about 30 to 45 minutes outside of Victoria.

BC Ferries serves travelers from all around Vancouver Island and the lower mainland of British Columbia. Weekends are typically busy, and popular sailings can sell out.

Traffic is also busier on the weekends , so give yourself plenty of time and arrive at least 30 minutes in advance.

I recommend booking a reservation online to guarantee your spot on a specific sailing. Reservations cost an extra 20 CAD, but I think it's well worth it.

Even if you have a ferry reservation, know that there's a chance your ferry can get canceled or delayed due to weather conditions — forcing you to take the next sailing in one or two hours.

There are gorgeous views throughout the ride, which made up for the lack of Wi-Fi.

journey's way photos

One of the things I love about taking the 90-minute boat from Victoria to Vancouver is the incredible scenery and ocean views . If the weather is decent, I recommend sitting outside.

There are picturesque islands covered in lush forests, and you may even spot a pod of whales or dolphins if you're lucky.

But if you plan on catching up on your favorite shows, download content before the ferry departs. There were no Wi-Fi options on board.

Since mobile reception is also spotty, I used the trip to catch up on work using offline apps and take in the scenery.

There’s a restaurant on the ferry, and it's actually decent.

journey's way photos

The onboard cafeteria offers everything from coffee and desserts to local specialties, like Nanaimo bars (a classic BC layered treat) and White Spot burgers.

Surprisingly, I don't mind the ferry food, even though it tends to be pretty expensive. If you're not sure what to get, skip the prepackaged salads and get the poutine.

At about 7 to 8 CAD, it's one of the cheapest things on the menu, and it's tasty and filling.

But if you don't want to deal with lines or crowds, you should bring your own meals.

There's pretty much always a line at the cafeteria — on my last trip, I waited 30 minutes to order a burger and a Diet Coke. The dining area is also jam-packed with fellow travelers and has the vibe of a crowded mall food court at sea.

The arrival process is pretty straightforward.

journey's way photos

The crew makes an announcement asking passengers to return to their cars 15 minutes before docking. That's when I usually sneak in a last-minute trip to the restroom before heading down to the car deck.

We spent about 10 minutes in the car waiting for the boat to dock before driving off.

We made our way to the Peace Arch Border Crossing.

journey's way photos

The ship docks in Tsawwassen, a small town outside of Vancouver, and it's about a 40-minute drive to the Canada-US border.

This drive always gives me anxiety because you can't predict how long the wait will be.

We were lucky and only had to wait about 20 minutes on this trip. But hours-long queues at the border are common, especially if there's a special event happening in Seattle like a Taylor Swift concert or a Mariner's game.

If possible, avoid driving into Seattle during rush hour.

journey's way photos

Traffic jams are also common on what should be a two-and-a-half-hour drive from the border crossing to Seattle, especially as you get closer to the city.

There have been previous trips where it's taken me four hours because I got stuck in a gridlock, so I always do my best to avoid getting there anywhere near rush hour.

We opted to stay overnight in Seattle.

journey's way photos

It's technically possible to go to Seattle for the day via the car ferry, but you'd only have a few hours in the city before turning around and catching the last ferry home at 10 p.m.

I recommend booking a one-night stay at The Edgewater — an iconic Seattle hotel with a storied history of hosting legendary musicians like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pearl Jam.

My room cost 329 CAD, and we loved the incredible waterside views, the central location, and the easy car access.

I kind of wish I didn't have my car in Seattle.

journey's way photos

Since we stayed in downtown Seattle, we were within walking distance of Pike Place Market , the Nordstrom flagship store, and buzzy dining options in Belltown.

We also spent an afternoon exploring the trendy Capitol Hill neighborhood, located a 10-minute drive from downtown. But we ended up taking an Uber because we knew it'd be easier than finding our own parking on the weekend.

The city has a public transit system that includes a light rail, a monorail, and streetcars, so it's pretty easy to get around without a car.

When I compare the time and money spent, I wish I’d left the car at home.

journey's way photos

In addition to the roundtrip ferry fare (with corresponding fees and taxes), my friend and I spent about 82 CAD on gas, bringing our total transport costs for the weekend trip to 323 CAD, not including the hotel stay .

I've taken the Victoria Clipper passenger ferry to Seattle for past trips, and although it's more expensive (344 CAD per adult, roundtrip), I found it to be a much more relaxing experience.

Our car-ferry journey took about five and a half hours, start to finish. But on the passenger ferry, I've boarded the boat at 5 p.m. and made it to my Seattle hotel by 8:15 p.m.

As a single woman who'd rather spend her weekend exploring one of her favorite cities than sitting in traffic, the passenger ferry is my preferred mode of transportation.

With that said, the car ferry has its advantages.

If you're traveling as a family or group, it's considerably cheaper than the passenger ferry. A roundtrip for a family of four on BC Ferries costs around 231 CAD, whereas the same trip on the Victoria Clipper would be around 866 CAD.

Additionally, if you plan on doing a lot of shopping or any outdoor activities outside of Seattle, it usually makes sense to have a car.
