Looking for a tropical way to experience the Ottawa River? Float on a Hawaiian-style hut while enjoying great scenery and drinks with friends.

Cruise down the Ottawa River on a boat built to look like a Hawaiian palapa hut, with a thatched roof and wooden bar that seats 12 people. Sit back and enjoy the views of downtown Ottawa and Gatineau while sipping on cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages, and nibbling on light snacks such as chips and pretzels.

Ottawa Palapa Tours has two vessels, Lilo and Moana, departing from the wharf at Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau, just across the river from Ottawa. Cruises last 90 minutes and the company also offers charters and corporate or full-day rates. Hold your bachelorette or bachelor party, sunset cruise, family gathering, team-building event, or wedding onboard—they even have a licensed wedding officiant available!

La Coupe du monde de pentathlon moderne pose ses valises à Budapest cette semaine.

La troisième étape bat son plein dans la capitale hongroise jusqu'au 28 avril 2024.

Valentin Prades fait partie des engagés français. Alors que d'autres visent des points importants pour le classement olympique mondial, le pentathlète n'est pas concerné par cet enjeu. Il a déjà obtenu un quota pour les Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024 grâce à sa cinquième place aux derniers Jeux Européens .

Pour cette épreuve de Coupe du monde qui peut lui servir de répétition générale avant les JO, faites plus ample connaissance avec Valentin Prades, un Français qui nage, court, monte à cheval et tire pour monter sur le seul podium international qui lui a résisté jusque-là : celui des Jeux Olympiques.

Les Comités Olympiques Nationaux (CNO) étant les seules autorités habilitées à déterminer qui représentera leur pays aux Jeux Olympiques, la participation de chaque athlète français aux Jeux de Paris 2024 sera de fait du ressort de la Commission consultative des sélections olympiques (CCSO) du Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français (CNOSF), qui sélectionnera sa délégation nationale à Paris.

Valentin Prades a obtenu un quota pour Paris 2024 en juillet dernier

La scène olympique, il connaît.

Valentin Prades est devenu olympien à Rio 2016 , où il y a d’ailleurs réalisé sa meilleure performance à ce niveau.

Du haut de ses 24 ans, il a terminé à une très belle quatrième place. Depuis, son objectif de « décrocher une médaille olympique » ne l’a pas quitté.

À Tokyo 2020 , il n’est pas parvenu à réaliser ce rêve, mais c’est bien dans cet état d’esprit qu’il compte se présenter à Paris l’été prochain.

Sa motivation est toujours aussi présente à 31 ans, même en tant qu'habitué aux honneurs internationaux. Cette fois-ci, il pourra même compter sur le soutien d’une supportrice toute particulière pour remplir ses objectifs : celui de sa fille.

« Quels que soient mes résultats, je sais que lorsque je rentre, j'aurai toujours le droit à de grands sourires. Alors je relativise ! » avait-il déclaré à L’Équipe , en 2023. Papa d’une petite fille de quatre ans, c’est pour elle aussi qu’il ne perd pas de vue son ambition finale, malgré les contre-performances et les blessures.

Lors des Jeux Européens 2023, il a obtenu un quota olympique pour les Jeux de Paris 2024. Finir cinquième a été synonyme de ticket d’entrée pour le Château de Versailles , qui accueillera les épreuves de pentathlon moderne, du 9 au 11 août prochain.

« Je suis très content d’avoir décroché ce quota après cette période compliquée », avait-il déclaré à Olympics.com après la course, évoquant sa blessure au tendon d'Achille contractée à la suite de sa victoire en Coupe du monde à Sofia. « Je savais qu’il fallait faire beaucoup de points sur les épreuves techniques et j’ai réussi à le faire, notamment en escrime. »

Alors que le natif de Cannes espère faire de Paris 2024 les Jeux de la consécration, il peut se jauger en Hongrie, à moins de quatre mois de l’échéance tant attendue.

Numéro un mondial de 2016 à 2018, Valentin Prades est également double champion du monde individuel (2014 et 2018) et trois fois champion d’Europe individuel (2013, 2015 et 2018).

Si 2018 semble être sa meilleure année jusqu’à présent, il cherche désormais à faire de 2024 un véritable millésime en décrochant la médaille qui le fait le plus rêver, celle qui lui a jusqu’à présent toujours échappé.
