Radar cruise control - work well?

  • Thread starter seatosky
  • Start date Oct 13, 2021

Hi there I'm looking to purchase a used GX 460 and really want to have radar cruise control. Was wondering what are peoples rating of the radar cruise feature on the GX? Does it work well? Any complaints? FYI I've learned to identify the models with this feature by the darkened rims and steering wheel buttons. It does cut down my buying options but it's a feature I really want for long trips.

I'd temper your expectations for this system. Its great for long cruises to a point. The fact that its a 30+ mph system limits you to congestion free highways where vehicles really leave alot of gaps in between (imho), a true DRCC system available on every other Lexus that goes down to 0 mph is easier for long drives regardless of congestion. The other issue is the logic behind the system which likes to accelerate aggressively when traffic clears up (alot of TMC products exhbit this behavior).

hey thanks for the reply @NXracer I think I need to come to terms with this being released in 2010 and having limited tech. You might have seen in my other post I'm also considering the new Tundra and that will have a 2021 version of radar cruise that should be even better than what I'm used to. If I can get a really good deal on a GX then I might jump on it, but for a nice one its adding up to a brand new Tundra price (or very near to it) so Im leaning towards the brand new vehicle right now. I certainly don't need 7 seats, but I do want a roomy, reliable 4x4.

Sure you can, it will cost a fortune and many hours of labor. But! if you have the time and the money...Why not?

(2010-2013) Parts listed in thread ... installer had issues with used radar sensor as well. You would need to obtain the '14-'19 revisions. Wiring to the front grill is also absent on '14+ models without these factory options. Wiring harness was present on '10-'13 models. Pretty much everything is missing from a hardware standpoint. He replaced the skid control ECU but now isn't sure if that was needed or not. Looks like "new" cost is around $5400 ... These are PNs for 10-13 models. 88210-60100 - $1480.89 84250-60210-C0 (PN is different depending on color) - $264.97 89810-60020 - $1127.37 73220-60530-C0 - $391.08 73210-60790-C0 - $391.08 47217-60111 - $992.44 84770-50010 - $56.95 86652-50010 - $46.63 53141-48050 - $331.31

WOW now that is a response :O ! THANK YOU

2022 Lexus GX 460 Review: Old Bones With Updated Tech

The GX is an excellent platform for adventure, but you'll have to make some modifications -- and compromises.

lexus gx 460 radar cruise control

Pretty rugged.

The tried-and-true Lexus GX gets a few updates for 2022, but at its core, it's the same luxury SUV it's always been. It uses old-school body-on-frame architecture, but has that famous Lexus reliability and some serious off-road chops. However, against a crop of more modern, more capable SUVs , is that enough?

lexus gx 460 radar cruise control

2022 Lexus GX 460

  • Great off-road potential
  • Quiet cabin
  • Proven reliability

Don't like

  • Poor ground clearance
  • No stop-and-go adaptive cruise control
  • Thirsty V8 engine

Available in base, Premium and Luxury trims, the 2022 GX has a larger touchscreen infotainment display that finally supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto , in addition to embedded navigation. My tester has the $3,835 Black Line Special Edition package that includes 18-inch gloss black wheels, black roof rails, black window trim, dark red-tinted taillights and some slightly nicer cabin materials. The Black Line package is offered alongside the GX's Starfire Pearl, Black Onyx or eye-catching Nori Green Pearl paint colors.

That said, the GX isn't pretty. It's 16 feet long with a huge grille and slab-sided design. It looks like a Lexus, for sure, but I'm not really sure if that's a good thing these days.

The GX has a big following in the overlanding community. Off-roaders appreciate its reliability, stellar suspension and ease of customization. Full-time four-wheel drive is coupled with Lexus' Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System keeping all four wheels on the ground over uneven surfaces for superior traction. A locking center differential can split the torque evenly from front to rear and a low range keeps the SUV motivated over slow and rocky terrain.

2022 Lexus GX 460: Still Chugging Along

lexus gx 460 radar cruise control

Add the $1,570 Off-Road package on the Luxury trim and you get a transmission cooler, a skid plate for your fuel tank and Lexus' Multi-Terrain Select with modes for rocks, mud, sand, moguls and the like. Also on hand is Crawl Control, which you can think of as a low-speed cruise control for off-roading, as well as the Multi-Terrain and Panoramic View Monitors which offer 360-degree views of the SUV's exterior as well as a view from underneath.

Still, the GX lacks some critical off-road components. The first is ground clearance. At 8.1 inches it's about as high off the ground as your everyday crossover. Off-road geometry is compromised, as well, with approach and departure angles of just 21 degrees, although the 23 degree breakover angle isn't bad. Further, there is only a brake-actuated differential locking system rather than true mechanical lockers, and the GX sports 265/60-series Bridgestone Dueler tires, which won't get you too far in the dirt.

Of course, all that can be changed with the help of aftermarket shops that can turn your mall-crawling GX into the off-road rig of your dreams. But if you're looking to really get off road right from the showroom floor, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee or Land Rover Defender gets you better ground clearance and geometry, though they don't have that proven Lexus reliability.

2022 Lexus GX 460

You won't be going too far off road with these tires and the GX's geometry.

The GX's on-road manners are fine, but nothing to write home about. Under the hood is a thirsty 4.6-liter V8 producing 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the GX returns 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway and 16 mpg combined. During my week of testing I only saw 18.2 mpg. Good thing there is a 23-gallon fuel tank.

The GX is comfortable and surprisingly quiet on the road, but its solid rear axle gives it a truck-like feeling while toddling down the highway. Plenty of vibrations and jolts from broken asphalt make their way into the cabin. If you plan on only driving on pavement you should look to Germans like the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class or the Audi Q8 , both of which offer a more refined ride and better fuel economy.

When it comes to tech, the GX gets Lexus' Safety System Plus suite of driving aids standard. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert, intelligent high beams and high-speed adaptive cruise control. No, the adaptive cruise doesn't work below 32 mph, which is a big bummer if you have to commute in heavy traffic. The controls are also a bit weird. While there is room on the steering wheel for the distance selector the rest of the adaptive cruise controls are found on a stalk.

2022 Lexus GX

A bigger infotainment screen is the highlight of the interior.

You won't find a digital gauge cluster in the GX, but it does have a revised infotainment system with a new 10.3-inch touchscreen. The screen can also be controlled with a touchpad but believe me, you won't want to use that. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and I recommend going with these apps in lieu of the in-dash navigation, which is clunky and difficult to use.

As for charging there are two USB ports and a 12-volt outlet up front, two more USB ports for second-row passengers and a 100-watt, 120-volt AC outlet in the rear cargo space. Wireless charging, however, is nowhere to be found.

While the GX's interior is awash with high-quality materials and excellent fit and finish, the design is 12 years old and it shows. There are buttons everywhere and even a CD changer, which feels weird in 2022. The third-row seats can fold flat but they aren't powered on my tester. To lock them in place I have to crawl into the cargo area.

Once those third row seats are up they cut the GX's cargo space to just 11.6 cubic feet. Frankly, nobody but the smallest of kids will ever fit back there, so it's best to just leave those seats down and roll with 46.7 cubes of cargo space.

2022 Lexus GX 460

This ol' dog needs some new tricks.

Speaking of cargo space, it's accessed by a swinging gate hinged on the passenger side, so remember that when fitting into tight parallel parking spots. The good news is that the upper glass opens up if you just need to throw something inside right quick.

The GX's climate controls are easy to use, and this SUV has available heated and cooled front seats, as well as optional heated second-row seats. The front chairs are comfortable and supportive but I find the second row seats to be pretty rock-hard and not a great place to spend time.

If my money were on the line I'd just go with a base GX and add heated and cooled front seats for a grand total of $57,840 including $1,075 for delivery. I'd take the $4,000 or so I save by not purchasing my Black Line tester and head right to the aftermarket for some sick off-road mods. If you dig the GX but only need on-road performance, get the Luxury trim which adds an adaptive suspension with comfort, normal and sport modes, as well as auto-leveling rear air suspension which should help you tow the SUV's maximum 6,500 pounds.

Overall, the GX 460's on-road manners leave a lot to be desired, and while it has excellent off-road bones, you'll need to make some modifications to really get the most out of this SUV. Even with that stellar reliability and go-anywhere attitude, the GX is a pretty tough sell.

DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC)

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control graphic

For optimum safety when travelling at consistent speeds, a vehicle must be responsive to its environment. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control ensures that you always maintain a sufficient distance from any vehicles in front, by slowing you down before any collision has the opportunity to occur.

DRCC detects slower vehicles in front, using grille-mounted millimetre-wave radar and an in-vehicle camera. When an obstacle is detected, your vehicle will automatically decelerate without having to cancel cruise control. If slowing down is insufficient to prevent a collision, then DRCC will automatically apply the brakes, before getting you back up to speed when the vehicle has passed.

DRCC supports a comfortable journey, in many driving situations. High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is perfectly suited to the demands of travel at pace, such as motorway driving, while All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise functions even below 40km/h, for peace of mind in highly-congested traffic.

Driving with DRCC alleviates the stress that comes from keeping a consistent distance from the car ahead, particularly in urban areas and when unexpected traffic has the potential to hinder your journey.

Disclaimer: Do not use the Lexus safety system instead of normal driving under any circumstances and please read the instructions before operating the system. The driver is always responsible for driving safely.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Arrives With New Tech Features, Standard AWD & Black Line Special Edition

If you still mourn the loss of a standard V8 engine in the new Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX, the 2023 GX 460 is the next best thing. It has a muscular 4.6-liter V8 on top of a body-on-frame architecture, which means it has the heart and bones of a true-blue SUV. The cumbersome V8 and dated ladder-frame architecture bring handling and fuel economy demerits. Still, the 2023 Lexus GX 460 is a $65,000 luxury SUV, which means those penalties may not matter to the GX’s deep-pocketed clientele.

2023 Lexus GX 460: What’s New?

The new Lexus GX is still riding on the second-gen platform that debuted in 2010, but Lexus has kept it updated over the years to please the needs of modern-day consumers. For 2023, the GX has a new 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity, four USB ports, and a new Black Line Special Edition package first introduced in 2021. It has several bespoke features like custom 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a black roof spoiler, shark fin antenna, clear taillights, and a panoramic view monitor.

The Black Line SE is available on the range-topping Lexus GX Premium trim and is limited to just 3,000 units for North American buyers. The available paint colors include Eminent White Pearl (new for 2023), Obsidian, and Nori Green Pearl (exclusive to Black Line SE). Meanwhile, the Lexus GX Luxury trim has a standard Mark Levinson premium audio system and a new key.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Black Line Special Edition.

Standard V8 Engine & All-Wheel Drive

The GX 460’s pièce de résistance is its 4.6-liter gasoline V8 with 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft. of torque. It sends power to all four wheels using a six-speed automatic gearbox and a full-time, automatic all-wheel drivetrain. It has a Torsen torque-sensing limited-slip differential that feeds 40 percent of the engine’s power to the front and 60 percent to the back wheels under most driving scenarios while varying the torque feed as needed.

In addition, the driveline has low-range gearing, a two-speed transfer case, and an electronic locking center differential when the going gets tough. Furthermore, the Lexus GX makes good use of chassis tech like downhill assist, hill start assist, active traction control, and stability control to take you home no matter the terrain.

Lexus GX Towing Capacity

The 2023 Lexus GX 460 can tow up to 6,500 lbs, good enough to haul Powersports toys, a small camper, or a boat. It comes with a trailer sway control system that works with the standard vehicle stability control system for safer towing.

Lexus GX Off-Road Package

The new GX may be a Lexus, but it has the genes of Toyota’s Land Cruiser Prado, making it a formidable machine when the pavement ends. Further heightening its off-road credentials is the Off-Road Package available in the top-of-the-line Luxury trim. The package includes a bevy of trail-proven accessories and technology like a multi-terrain monitor, underbody skid plates, crawl control, and Multi-Terrain Select driving modes to make mincemeat of muddy, sandy, or rocky terrain.

Standard Safety Features

The 2023 Lexus GX 460 comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+, a collection of advanced driving aids that includes intelligent high beams, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision warning, and intuitive parking assist.

Lexus Warranty

Every new Lexus vehicle has a four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. Depending on how much you drive, an extended warranty may benefit you. Before you decide, see this helpful guide to Lexus extended warranties .

2023 Lexus GX 460: Pricing & Availability

The 2023 Lexus GX 460 will arrive at U.S. dealerships by fall 2022. Starting MSRP is $57,575 for the base GX 460 and $58,910 for the GX 460 Premium trim. The new GX Black Line SE starts at $62,310, while the GX 460 Luxury is $68,230. All MSRP figures are inclusive of the destination fees.

Latest and Greatest: 2020 Lexus GX 460 Adds Standard Lexus Safety System+ and Available All-New Off-Road Package

Latest and Greatest: 2020 Lexus GX 460 Adds Standard Lexus Safety System+ and Available All-New Off-Road Package

  • Striking styling inside and out with revised spindle grille, premium triple-beam LED headlights, distinctive interior trims
  • Available Off-Road Package with Multi-Terrain Select for enhanced excursion capability
  • Standard Lexus Safety System+ on all trims, completing standard active safety on all Lexus models

PLANO, Texas (June 18, 2019) — For drivers of the updated 2020 GX 460, being safe and looking stylish on either Rodeo Drive or Imogene Pass is a cinch. And thanks to an all-new available Off-Road Package featuring Multi-Terrain Select, tackling tough terrain is equally as easy. Adding extra peace of mind is GX’s now standard Lexus Safety System+, completing Lexus’ milestone of equipping all models with standard active safety equipment.

Versatility best describes the luxurious three-row GX. It’s not only engineered for all kinds of terrain, including extreme off-road conditions, it also displays exceptional craftsmanship throughout and seating for up to seven passengers. Heated and ventilated front seats are available as a standalone option for the base model and standard on Premium and Luxury models. In the Sport Design Package for Premium and Luxury trims, captain’s chairs comprise the second-row seating.

The 2020 GX wears an updated signature spindle grille that gives it distinctive, standout style which better aligns with the entire Lexus portfolio. Flanking the grille are new standard Premium triple-beam LED headlamps that accent the grille’s refined style. The available Sport Design Package puts an extra touch on the luxury SUV with special details, such as an exclusive lower grille surround, rear valence, side mirrors, matte black exhaust tip, scarlet taillamps and 19-inch alloy wheels with a Gunmetal Metallic finish.

Command the City and the Weekend A dual-purpose luxury vehicle, GX 460 can go from a short work commute in the city, to a long family vacation deep in the Rocky Mountains. The standard engine is a 301-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 producing 329 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Combine that with a 6,500-lb. towing capacity, and you’ve got an ideal boat hauler. Towing is aided with Trailer Sway Control, a function of the Vehicle Stability Control that enhances straight-line tracking.

Handcrafted Details and Hand-Selected Materials Elegance is standard on the GX 460. Available features include a wood and leather-trimmed heated steering wheel, crafted exclusively with hand-selected materials. The GX’s available semi-aniline leather is dyed completely through, unlike most leathers with conventional surface dyes. New for 2020, Premium and Luxury grades are equipped with an elegant Gray Sapele wood with aluminum trim.

The GX comes in seven vibrant exterior colors: Starfire Pearl, Atomic Silver, Nebula Gray Pearl, Nightfall Mica, Fire Agate Pearl, Black Onyx and Claret Mica. The GX interior is available in the following four colors: Black, Sepia, Ecru, and all-new Rioja Red with black headliner.

Control of the Road Utilizing the technology of the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), the GX 460 enhances handling and ride comfort by helping to keep the vehicle level in both on and off-road conditions. When the GX encounters an uneven surface, one compressed cylinder causes fluid to flow to the other cylinder, helping the vehicle to keep all four wheels on the ground. The system works without any action needed by the driver.

Another asset of the GX for on-road smoothness is the available Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). The AVS uses electronically controlled dampers that adjust to road surface conditions. The driver can tailor the ride by selecting from Normal, Sport, or Comfort modes.

Four-Wheel Active Traction With a full-time automatic four-wheel drive system, the Lexus GX 460 is at home on the backcountry trails as it is in the mall parking lot.

A TORSEN® torque-sensing limited slip center differential distributes power 40:60 front to rear under most driving conditions and changes the ratio as needed based on wheel slip. The four-wheel drive system offers a low range for slow speed off-road driving, and the center differential can be electronically locked.

The two-speed transfer case with low range is supported by a wide array of chassis control technology. With Downhill Assist Control (DAC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and available Crawl Control, the GX can roam unpaved roads, trails, and steep inclines with confidence.

Off-Road Prowess Enhancing GX’s already capable skillset when the pavement ends is the all-new Off-Road Package that’s available on Luxury grade. The package offers proven off-road technologies such as Lexus’ Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitors with driver and passenger cameras; transmission cooler; fuel tank protector; Crawl Control; and Multi-Terrain Select.

Multi-Terrain Select allows you to choose from multiple surfaces such as loose rocks, mud and sand, moguls, and more to optimize drivability. This advanced system regulates wheelspin by automatically adjusting the engine throttle and brakes, helping improve traction. Demanding off-road situations necessitate constant awareness of all surroundings. With the Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitors, front passengers can view front, rear, side, and now under (displaying terrain and tire location underneath your vehicle) camera views on the navigation screen, providing the most avid off-road driver peace of mind.

Crawl Control – Advanced Technology Activated with the press of a button, the available Crawl Control system is designed to automatically maintain an optimal slow and steady pace over demanding landscapes. Crawl Control is designed for driving on difficult terrain at low speeds and automatically modulates the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings, so drivers can keep their focus on steering through difficult terrain.

Engaged when the vehicle is in low range, Crawl Control allows the vehicle to move forward or in reverse at one of five driver-selectable low-speed settings. Crawl Control also engages the front and rear “virtual” Locking differentials to help reduce tire slippage and optimize chassis behavior. Crawl Control can also help the driver navigate the GX 460 through sand, mud, or snow.

Multimedia and Connected Technologies The Lexus multimedia system on the GX offers a touchscreen with a customizable home screen that can display three sections simultaneously. The available navigation system’s three-dimensional map view makes it an even more effective driving partner. Rear seat passengers can power their mobile devices thanks to two additional USB ports, bringing the GX’s total to four.

Drivers can navigate with peace of mind thanks to Lexus Enform Safety Connect, which is included for the first 10 years of ownership. It allows for access to Lexus Enform response centers 24/7/365. With Lexus Enform Service Connect, the vehicle can also send alerts for specific factory recommended maintenance, simultaneously alerting a preferred Lexus retailer.

The Lexus Enform Remote service lets you lock and unlock doors, start the engine and climate control, check the fuel level and more all through your smartphone, smartwatch or devices enabled with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.  And it’s included for the first year of ownership.

Lexus Safety The Lexus GX 460 is equipped to handle today’s modern family and is designed to help them arrive in style, comfort, and safety wherever their adventures lead.

Bolstering this mission is the addition of the Lexus Safety System+ suite of technologies that is now standard on the entire 2020 Lexus vehicle lineup. Lexus Safety System+ includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Intelligent High Beams and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

From advanced lane-assistance technology to intuitive high beams that offer added illumination to help keep you focused on the road ahead, this integrated suite of standard active safety equipment brings us one step closer to a world without crashes.

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection

Lexus Safety System+ includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection that’s designed to help detect a vehicle or a pedestrian in the path of your Lexus under certain conditions. Should it detect a potential frontal collision, it prompts the driver to take evasive action and may automatically prepare Brake Assist for increased brake force and, in some cases, can even automatically brake the vehicle to a stop.

  • Lane Departure Alert

Lane Departure Alert is designed to provide an audible alert if an inadvertent lane departure is detected.

  • Intelligent High Beams

To help provide greater visibility for the driver, as well as fellow drivers, this system offers added illumination to help keep the GX’s driver focused on the road. When the road ahead is clear, the system defaults to high-beam mode, then temporarily switches to low beams when it detects the headlamps or taillamps of vehicles ahead.

  • High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

This system uses radar and camera technology to help you maintain a preset speed and following distance from the vehicle ahead. If a driver gets closer than the preset distance, the throttle is automatically reduced, and the brakes may automatically be applied. As soon as the road ahead clears, the GX returns to its preset speed.

Experience a utility vehicle luxuriously crafted to take you further than ever before—meet the 2020 Lexus GX.

Moscow cruise port

Region Russia Rivers

Local Time 2024-04-23 16:45

Moscow is a Volga River cruise port, Russia's capital and largest city (population over 12,2 million, metro 17 million). Moscow City covers a total area of approx 2610 km 2 (970 mi2). By population, the city is ranked the world's 14th largest. Moscow is one of the Russian Federation's all 3 federal cities - together with St Petersburg and Sevastopol .

Being Russian Federation's capital, Moscow is a major economic, political, scientific and cultural center, as well as Europe's biggest city.

According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the 9th most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to Globalization and World Cities Research Network. It is also one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world according to MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index. Moscow is the northernmost and the coldest megacity and metropolis on the Earth. It's home to Ostankino Tower, the tallest free-standing European structure; the Federation Tower, the tallest European skyscraper; and the Moscow International Business Center.

Moscow is situated on Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, which makes it the most populated inland city in the world. Moscow city is well known for architecture, particularly its historic buildings like Saint Basil's Cathedral. With over 40% of its territory covered by greenery, it's one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world. Moscow is the seat of power of the Russian Government, being the site of Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is now the residence of the President of Russia. Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are among the several World Heritage Sites in the city.

Moscow has 2 passenger terminals, North River Terminal (Rechnoy vokzal) and South River Terminal. The regular ship routes and cruises along Moskva and Oka rivers are used mostly for entertainment. North River Terminal (1937-built) is currently the main hub for long-range routes along the river. There are 3 freight ports that serve Moscow.

In late-July 2021 the city announced plans to incorporate a fleet (unspecified number) of fully electric passenger ferries into its public transportation network from summer 2022, the goal being to reduce the dependence on cars.

  • The boats are designed with length ~22 m (72 ft), passenger capacity 42, modern amenities (Wi-Fi, USB charging points, tables for working commuters), spaces for storing scooters and bicycles.
  • Moscow Transport confirmed that two routes (with max daily capacity ~16,000 passengers) have already been mapped out.
  • Passengers will be able to pay via bank cards, the city’s Troika card (smart card for travel by any public transportation) or biometric payment cards. Those with monthly/yearly public transit tickets will use the boats at no extra cost.
  • The new electric ferry service is up to 5 times faster (in comparison to other city public transports) and ~2 times faster than by car.

Moscow cruise terminal

Moscow's cruise terminal is called North River Terminal or River Station  ("Rechnoy Vokzal" / "речной вокзал").

The terminal was opened in 1937 and is one of 2 passenger terminals (the other being South River Terminal) of the city's river transport. North River Terminal is the main hub for long-range (including cruise) shipping routes.

South River Terminal (above photo) was opened in 1985.
