Thanks for the write up.

Good write-up, and I agree. We have this system on our new CX-9, and I love it also. They really did a nice job engineering it, and I have only a few quibbles with it similar to yours. Mostly, it works fantastic. My main issue with it is on multi-lane interstate highways, sometimes I creep up behind someone and don't even notice that the car has slowed down a few mph. It would be fine, except that then I realize I should have passed sooner! In this case, it is almost too smooth! But, I think that's an acceptable problem to have. I find myself wishing sometimes that I could set the following distance a little bit closer...on interstates, I am more comfortable with less distance between cars if I am gaining on the car in front of me and I'm about to change lanes anyway. Again, it's a minor quibble. Overall, it's a great system. I wish I had it on my 6 too.

Interesting that you've had issues on multi lane freeways. It's something that I expected to have but I've only ever noticed it one time when I had drifted over in a lane and it picked up the back of a semi in the adjacent lane. Normally it seems to keep to my lane even around corners as I mentioned. I do agree with your comment about changing lanes to overtake. It hadn't thought of that but I do need to change lanes earlier than I normally would to avoid the cruise slowing me down to match the overtaken vehicle's speed before I change lanes to pass. Great feedback, thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice write-up, makes me wish I had splurged a little more and added that to my car.

Very good write up/review of the system. I agree totally with your observations (and mild frustrations) during the course of my 3 months of ownership. A very well engineered system, much better than expected (although I have to admit, this is my first exposure to such technology). Thanks for taking the time to create this review.

Can the dealers/car service put in MRCC system into car which doesnt have MRCC

I'm not sure, but I would guess not economically. At a minimum you'd need the radar sensor, new steering wheel, and possibly new HUD and gauge cluster (for displaying the settings etc). Not sure if the HUD/gauge clusters are physically the same and just need a software update or not. I'd suspect it would be less trouble and maybe cost to trade in on a model with the features you wanted.

Change in limits of Mazda 6 Cruise Control from 2017 onward? Ken: first of all bravo on a most excellent post. I need to decide if I wish to buy out the lease on my current 2015 Hyundai Genesis Ultimate or perhaps lease or buy a 2017/1018 Mazda6. Tech is what matters to me. So I seek some insight. My Gennie has adaptive cruise control which can be set – even at speeds below 16 miles an hour – so that it will bring the car to a full stop in heavy traffic and then, when the car in front moves, without intervention move it again and stop and again and stop ad infinitum. This means that when stuck in a major traffic jam you are not sitting there moving your foot from brake to gas to brake to gas... In case it matters I note that AFTER a stop of three seconds you do have to tap a switch on the steering wheel to have the car resume moving forward and again stop. While the system is not perfect - and definitely leads to big gaps in which cars can slip in as everyone complains - it does mean that as a New Yorker when stuck in traffic at the Lincoln tunnel for an hour I have not so exhausted my foot that I can't walk afterward. HOWEVER your signature says you are driving a --2016 -- and I THINK - based on a forum and links I'm not allowed to post yet about the current Mazda CX 5 -- that a huge difference from the 2016 to 2017 is a much more advanced adaptive cruise control that HAS a stop and go function that operates just as my 2015 Hyundai Genesis does. I think this is the level now on the Mazda6. Can someone chime in on this? Am I correct that Ken's excellent analysis speaks only to a MORE LIMITED cruise that is NOT applicable to the post-2017 Mazda 6? I have spent hours trying to find a definitive answer to this and I cannot. Note that I'm in the United States and so it must be the US versions. Thanks for any input! Alley

Lucifer how much did this cost?

What a great write-up! I just bought my 2017.5, it was a 150 mile drive back home but I didn't know how to use the cruise yet. It would have really come in handy on the interstate!

My problem with the adaptive cruise is the auto braking feature after passing a car in the right lane using the throttle pedal and exceeding the cruise set speed. As soon as I get back in the right lane and take my foot off the throttle pedal the auto brake slows down the car to the set speed of the cruise, both with regular cruise and adaptive cruise while lighting up the brake lights. Since 1964 when cruise appeared in Chryslers this scenario was that the car costs after lifting the foot off the throttle or going downhill. The cruise braking under this condition should be an optional setting. It confuses the person just passed and can easily lead to road rage. The only way around it is to cancel the cruise before passing and to resume once cruise set speed is reached. The car industry needs to fix this.

mazda radar cruise control reddit

That's not how the "auto brake" feature or adaptive cruise control work. If you take your foot off the accelerator, the throttle is held partially closed and speed is bled off until the set speed as arrived at...just like any other cruise control. If a collision is impending, the Smart Brake Support (SBS) system will activate the brakes to prevent or reduce the effects of the collision. I use cruise control every time I drive (even in the city) and I have never experienced what you are describing. I suspect the way you are driving your car is the issue here. And that's assuming I understand what you are saying. The descriptions you are making are confusing me, much less the safety systems in that car.

There's no auto-braking "feature" of this sort on any vehicle in my driveway (4 of them, from 2002 forward) including my 2015 Mazda. The throttle does close but the brakes are not actuated. Now this does slow the vehicle, but the brakes do not come on (and neither do the brake lights.) Never mind that two of them are cable throttle bodies and thus "cruise" is implemented by a servo that pulls the actual throttle plate linkage when engaged. If the "radar" sort of cruise does this I wouldn't know because I don't have that on any... including my 2015 (its a sport-trim "6") My "6" potentially could do it since it has "hill hold" (its a MTX) which implicates the ABS system but the other three, two of which are automatics and one stick, none of the Mazdas, do not have the hardware capacity to physically apply the brakes as their ABS systems are designed to be "release only" as is the case for most older setups.

I was referring to Mazdas latest cruise in the 2024 Mazda 3. Yes, it's new and I would like the option to turn off the auto braking when the vehicle is going faster than the cruise setting when my foot is lifted off the accelerator so it coasts back to the setting like yours does. Sorry about the confusion

Then it appears Mazda has changed it for the 2024 models. I get the same behavior in my 2010 Audi A5 as well. Also, it will apply brakes going downhill when a coast would exceed the setting in the 2024 Mazda 3 as well as the Audi. I have to cancel the cruise to pass a car at a higher speed than the setting and manually coast it back down to the setting or it will aggressively apply the brakes to bring it back to the cruise setting quickly in either car. Audi started adding this crap 14 years ago or more. This leads me to believe they got their software from a German company. Also, the brake lights come on when either of the cars are performing this braking. For nearly 60 years of cruise control history, the cruise control has not attempted any braking. But with the advent of software controlled braking in cars, the developers have gone too far without giving the driver a choice in this behavior. This nanny tech is very undesirable to me and drivers need a way to disable the software braking while in a cruise control engagement. I had a 2023 CX-5 for a good part of a year and did not experience this software braking with cruise control in it. So, for Mazda, it appears to be quite new.

Radar Cruise Control

I don't often use the radar cruise control, but when I have, it's worked perfectly, even bringing the car to a complete stop. But today I had the strangest thing. It was on, approaching a stop light. Car started slowing down along with the car in front. When it hit 20mph, the cruise control disengaged and flashed the warning that it was off below 20mph. Did it do this because it was cold? Sensors were all working because it maintained distance properly right until it turned itself off. Good thing I had my foot on the brake or would have rear ended someone.

That's the way my 16 worked...

I think it uses the camera under 20 mph. Was your camera blocked by snow or ice on the outside of the windshield, or condensation on the inside?

  • Feb 15, 2020

I have an '18 and it never did that. Was one of the sensors or camera blocked? Was the weather poor? Only time I have had sensors give a warning was in poor weather conditions or at a toll when a really bright light was shinning on my CX5

Weather was clear. It was cold, but windshield was clear and clean. Really don't get it.

I occasionally use the Adaptive Cruise Control on the freeway and it works well when traffic is moving along at 70 MPH and sometimes slows to 55-60 and then speeds up again. But in conditions where traffic can come to a complete halt or slow to 10-15 MPH for several miles and then inexplicably resume to 70 MPH again as is often the case on SouCal freeways, I turn the system off. Our CX 5's do not have a self driving feature and in my opinion, those who want to rely on the adaptive cruise control, lane assist and smart city braking are irresponsible. Take command of your vehicle and pay attention to what you are doing. You may feel like you have all the comforts of your living room but in reality you are behind the wheel of a 3800 lb torpedo with a gasoline explosive charge. Don't be lulled by gadgets. Even the most developed systems that Telsa uses are far from perfect and Mazda's technology is years and millions of dollars of development behind.

What is stop and go? The stop and go function is a further refinement of the Mazda radar cruise control system. If a car in front of you stops, so will your car. This was the case before, but with stop and go, after that car accelerates away you can give the accelerator a simple tap of the pedal, and your Mazda will accelerate and resume radar cruise control operation. This makes Mazda radar cruise control with stop and go perfect for handling traffic jams and other such driving conditions. Click to expand...

i asked a question about why a feature my car has didn't behave as it normally does. I also clearly stated that I didn't use it often, and that I was ready with the brake when needed. I didn't post the message for someone to get on a soapbox and rant about technology.

Condensation. I had the exact same thing. There was a temperature drop during the day. Is there a way to switch to traditional cruise control when the front radar emblem Ice's up while driving in the highway like on a Honda?

So far my CC has been flawless bringing the car to a complete stop. Both the CRV and CX5 won't start moving unless I hit resume. My CRV CC and other safety features have stopped working several times in inclement weather, so far the Mazda has behaved flawlessly but the car only has 3500 miles on it, the CRV has 40k. Guess time will tell. Comparing the safety systems in both vehicles, it seems the Honda does blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist better, the active cruise are very similar, auto headlights honda (for some reason the Mazda will turn on the brights in the rain even with oncoming traffic), lane departure is a tie, back up camera Honda, rear warning Mazda. It is interesting to observe how the two manufacturers implemented the same features differently.

How effective is Mazda i-Activsense and more importantly, how intrusive is it?

We’ve recently had the chance to spend a lot of time with Mazda’s i-Activsense system and test it in all sorts of conditions. We were able to use each of its features on the highway, in traffic, in the city, and in parking lots. We’ve tested i-Activsense in the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-9 for months in both summer and winter, and we were able to compare it to Nissan’s ProPilot and Honda’s Honda Sensing which we also tested long term and will report on shortly.

In other, more simple terms, we’ve had the chance to test the i-Activsense system in every possible setting and we’re in a good position to tell you that it is one of the best systems when it comes to letting you actually drive and not being too nervous. It’s lacking a few features of the ProPilot system, however.

Mazda CX-9

What is I-Activsense?

Mazda i-Activsense is a group of active safety features designed to warn the driver of any potential dangers and intervene if needed. Unlike Nissan ProPilot and Honda Sensing, however, i-Activsense doesn’t include the same exact features from one new Mazda model to the next, but the gist of the features are as follows:

Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go Function

MRCC is Mazda’s active cruise control system. Like other similar systems, the system is active when cruise control is active. It gives the driver the ability to choose between various distances that the vehicle will keep between it and the vehicle ahead on the highway. If the vehicle ahead slows down or brakes suddenly, MRCC will apply the brakes to keep the pre-determined distance.

The Stop & Go function available in the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-9 adds the ability to bring the vehicle to a complete stop if needed, and then with a simple tap of the accelerator MRCC will automatically re-accelerate to the previous speed if the road ahead is clear.

2018 Mazda CX-9 GT

Smart Brake Support

The system scans the road up to 200 meters ahead. If a danger is detected and a collision is imminent, SBS will slow down the vehicle by applying the brakes.

Pedestrian Detection

Pedestrian detection is included in both the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-9 with i-Activsense. As the name implies, it adds the ability to detect not just cars but pedestrians as well to Mazda’s driver assistance features.

Forward Obstruction Warning

Before the Mazda vehicle applies the brakes to avoid a collision, a warning is given to the driver of the potential danger. This warning is the Forward Obstruction Warning.

Lane Departure Warning System

By scanning the lanes on the road, LDWS can sense if you’re about to go over into the other lane accidentally. The system will warn you before that happens.

Lane-keep Assist System

Should the driver not react to the warning from the LDWS system, LAS will automatically adjust the trajectory to keep you in your lane.

High Beam Control System

The system detects an oncoming vehicle when your high beams are activated and will automatically switch to low beams.

Mazda’s i-Activesense features Blind Spot Monitoring, Adaptive Front-Lighting System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but in most models including the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-9 the above features are seperate from the actual i-Activesense package.

Mazda i-Activsense explained and reviewed

How Effective is it?

Now that we’ve gotten the various technologies explained and out of the way, we can look at how effective these systems are. That’s what should matter because ultimately, every automaker Mazda competes with offers the same systems. In some cases, they can be overly nervous and send a warning when the driver is in full control of the situation just because it thinks there’s a danger. The Honda Sensing system, for example is particularly nervous and it can get to be annoying in bumper to bumper traffic.

The Nissan ProPilot system has automatic lane keeping assist which means it can steer the vehicle automatically around bends. The i-Activsense system won’t do that. It will correct your trajectory lightly and Lane Trace will help keep you centered, but it won’t keep you going around the bend in the way ProPilot can.

But if you don’t want that level of intervention, the i-Activsense system may just be the best system out there. It works the way it’s supposed to, but it’s not overly anxious and doesn’t go off unless there’s truly a danger. I can’t remember how many times Honda’s Honda Sensing warned me of a lane departure or a vehicle slowing down when I was simply in traffic and close to other vehicles. In the same traffic and situations, i-Activsense remained quiet.

When it did intervene, it did so progressively and quietly. The lane-keep assist system, particularly, isn’t overly agressive in bringing you back in the right direction. The automatic braking is linear as well. The systems worked well in winter and summer and unlike the Mercedes-Benz S-Class we had in winter that went crazy with warnings and beeps when snow obstructed its sensors, we didn’t have that problem with the i-Activsense system.

Final Thoughts in i-Activesense

We’re big fans of Nissan’s ProPilot for its advanced safety features and Subaru’s Eyesight for its smoothness. We can now add i-Activesense to our list of favorite systems. As effective as you want these kinds of systems to be, it’s not as nosy and let’s you drive. It will only warn you or intervene if you weren’t going to do anything.

MRCC(Mazda Radar Cruise Control)

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) uses a millimeter wave radar to judge the relative speed and distance to the car ahead and automatically controls vehicle speed.

Working within a set speed range, MRCC automatically adjusts and maintains a safe following distance from the car in front, thus relieving some of the burden of the driver on long drives and on highways.

Also includes a Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS) that visually displays the following distance to help the driver maintain awareness of important safety consideration. * MRCC may not perform as expected due to factors such as the shape of the vehicle in front (some shapes do not reflect radar well, etc.), bad weather (rain, snow, fog, etc.), and road conditions (multiple curves, undulations, etc.).

* MRCC is designed to reduce the risk of accidents by maintaining a safe following distance from the car in front. However the system has its limitations, and no safety system or combination of such systems can prevent all accidents. These systems are not a replacement for safe and attentive driving. Please drive carefully at all times and do not rely on technology to prevent an accident. Not all of these systems are available on all models or in all markets, so please contact your local Mazda dealer for details on availability. Please refer to your owners' manual for additional important system details, limitations and warnings.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC)

How to use the mazda radar cruise control (mrcc).

MRCC operation conditions

The MRCC can be set when all of the following conditions are met.

The brake pedal is not depressed.

The vehicle speed is about 0 km/h (0 mph) to 145 km/h (90 mph).

The Hill Descent Control is not operating.

Setting the MRCC

Press the MRCC switch to turn the system on.

mazda radar cruise control reddit

Accelerate to the desired speed.

Set the vehicle speed by pressing the RES switch up (SET+) or down (SET-).

mazda radar cruise control reddit

If a vehicle ahead is detected while traveling at a constant speed, the system switches to headway control. The vehicle ahead indication is displayed on the screen while in headway control.

Vehicle ahead indication

While in EV mode, acceleration may be restricted and the vehicle may not be able to be driven at the set speed.

Refer to Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) (Search) .

If there is a structure on the road or an obstruction at a low height off the ground in front of the vehicle, the system may recognize it as a vehicle ahead.

Acceleration and deceleration by accelerator pedal operation takes priority while traveling at a constant speed or in headway control. When the accelerator pedal is released, the vehicle returns to driving at a constant speed or headway control at the set speed.

If a vehicle ahead is traveling at an extremely low speed, the system may not detect it correctly.

While driving using the MRCC, intended engine braking is not applied even if the selector lever is operated.

The brake lights turn on while the brakes are operating by the MRCC control.

The MRCC is also turned off automatically when the vehicle power is switched OFF.

If the distance between vehicles control is disabled using Mazda Connect, the system switches to the cruise control. At this time, the MRCC switch functions as the cruise control switch.

Refer to the Settings section in the Mazda Connect Owner's Manual.

If the vehicle power is switched OFF while the distance between vehicles control is disabled, the distance between vehicles control is enabled automatically the next time the vehicle power is switched ON.

mazda radar cruise control reddit

When the vehicle ahead accelerates from a stop and one of the following operations is performed, your vehicle starts driving.

Press the RES switch.

Depress the accelerator pedal.

If you do not start driving the vehicle after the vehicle ahead has resumed driving, the system urges the driver to resume driving.

If the vehicle ahead resumes driving within 3 seconds after the vehicle was stopped by the system, your vehicle also resumes driving automatically.

If the vehicle is stopped by the system continuously for 10 minutes or longer, the parking brake is applied automatically. At this time, the MRCC is canceled.

Even if the MRCC is canceled while the vehicle is stopped, the vehicle is held in its stopped position.

Refer to AUTOHOLD (Search) .

If the MRCC is canceled while the vehicle is stopped and there is no vehicle ahead, you cannot resume driving the vehicle using the RES switch. Depress the accelerator pedal and start driving the vehicle.

Changing the set vehicle speed

Changing the set vehicle speed using the RES switch

Press the RES switch up (SET+) or down (SET-) to the desired speed.

Press and release immediately: 1 km/h (1 mph)

Press and hold: 10 km/h (5 mph)

Changing the set vehicle speed using the accelerator pedal

Depress the accelerator pedal until the vehicle speed reaches the desired speed, then press the RES switch up (SET+) or down (SET-).

Reading the set vehicle speed from the speed limit sign using the RES switch

mazda radar cruise control reddit

The function which recognizes speed limit signs has limitations. Always check the set vehicle speed that was read.

Set the speedometer display unit to the same unit as the speed limit sign. Differing units will capture speeds not intended by the driver.

The Speed Limit Assist operates only when the navigation system's SD card is inserted.

The Speed Limit Assist uses the Traffic Sign Recognition system (TSR).

Refer to Traffic Sign Recognition System (TSR) (Search) .

The Speed Limit Assist cannot read speeds of less than 30 km/h (19 mph).

Set vehicle speeds read from speed limit signs can be adjusted.

The Speed Limit Assist can be turned off.

Setting the distance-between-vehicles during headway control

Press the CANCEL switch up (longer distance) or down (shorter distance).

MRCC is not operating (white)

MRCC is operating (green)

The distance-between-vehicles can be set to 4 levels: Long, medium, short, and extremely short distance.

The distance-between-vehicles differs depending on the vehicle speed, and the slower the vehicle speed, the shorter the distance.

Close proximity warning

If your vehicle approaches a vehicle ahead while in headway control, a warning sound and a display cautions you.

mazda radar cruise control reddit

“Depress Brake Pedal”

The close proximity warning may not be activated in the following cases.

The vehicle is driven at the same speed as the vehicle ahead.

Directly after the MRCC is set.

Immediately after the accelerator pedal is released.

Another vehicle cuts into the driving lane.

Do not use the MRCC under conditions in which the close proximity warnings are frequently activated.

The MRCC is canceled temporarily

If any of the following conditions is met, the MRCC is canceled temporarily.

The brake pedal is depressed.

The CANCEL switch is pressed one time.

The DSC has operated.

The Smart Brake Support (SBS) has operated.

The front radar sensors cannot detect target objects.

The parking brake is applied.

Any door is opened.

The driver’s seat belt is unfastened.

The frequency of the braking operation by the MRCC is high.

If the MRCC is temporarily canceled, it will resume operation at the previously set speed by pressing the RES switch.

Turning off the MRCC

Press the MRCC switch.

i-ACTIVSENSE

Mazda radar cruise control (mrcc) (some models).

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system is designed to maintain headway control *1 according to the vehicle speed using a radar sensor (front) to detect the distance to a vehicle ahead, which frees the driver from having to constantly use the accelerator or brake pedals.

Headway Control: Control of the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead detected by the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system.

Additionally, if your vehicle starts closing in on the vehicle ahead because, for example, the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, a warning sound and a warning indication in the display are activated simultaneously to alert you to maintain a sufficient distance between the vehicles.

The possible vehicle speed setting ranges are as follows:

(European models)

About 30 km/h (19 mph) to 200 km/h (124 mph)

(Except European models)

About 30 km/h (19 mph) to 145 km/h (90 mph)

Use the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system on expressways and other highways which do not require a lot of repeated acceleration and deceleration.

Do not rely completely on the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system and always drive carefully:

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system is designed to reduce load on the driver, and although it maintains a constant vehicle speed, or specifically, it maintains a constant distance between your vehicle and the detected vehicle ahead according to the vehicle speed, the system has detection limitations depending on the type of vehicle ahead and its conditions, the weather conditions, and the road conditions. Additionally, the system may be unable to decelerate sufficiently to avoid hitting the vehicle ahead if the vehicle ahead applies the brakes suddenly or another vehicle cuts into the driving lane, which could result in an accident. Always verify the safety of the surrounding area and depress the brake pedal or accelerator pedal while keeping a safer distance from vehicles ahead or on-coming vehicles.

Do not use the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system in the following locations. Otherwise, it could lead to an accident:

Roads with sharp curves and where vehicle traffic is heavy and there is insufficient space between vehicles. Roads where frequent and repetitive acceleration and deceleration occur (Driving under these conditions using the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system is not possible).

When entering and exiting interchanges, service areas, and parking areas of highways (If you exit a highway while headway control is in use, the vehicle ahead will no longer be tracked and your vehicle may accelerate to the set speed).

Slippery roads such as ice or snow-bound roads (The tyres could spin causing you to lose vehicle control).

Long descending slopes (to maintain distance between vehicles, the system automatically and continuously applies the brakes which could result in the loss of brake power).

For the purposes of safety, switch the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system off when it is not being used.

mazda radar cruise control reddit

If the vehicle is towed or you are towing something, switch the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system off to prevent an incorrect operation.

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system operates when all of the following conditions are met.

The vehicle speed is as follows:

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system is turned on.

The parking brake is not applied.

The Smart Brake Support (SBS) is not malfunctioning.

The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is operating normally.

All doors are closed.

The driver's seat belt is fastened.

(Manual transaxle)

The shift lever is in a position other than reverse (R) or neutral (N).

The clutch pedal is not depressed.

(Automatic transaxle)

The selector lever is in the drive (D) position or manual (M) position (manual mode).

In the following cases, the warnings may not activate even if your vehicle starts closing in on the vehicle ahead.

You are driving at the same speed as the vehicle ahead.

Directly after the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system has been set.

When the accelerator pedal is depressed or directly after the accelerator pedal is released.

Another vehicle cuts into the driving lane.

The following are not detected as physical objects.

Vehicles approaching in the opposite direction

Pedestrians

Stationary objects (stopped vehicles, obstructions)

If a vehicle ahead is travelling at an extremely low speed, the system may not detect it correctly.

During headway control travel, do not set the system on two-wheeled vehicles such as motorcycles and bicycles.

Do not use the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system under conditions in which the close proximity warnings are frequently activated.

During headway control travel, the system accelerates and decelerates your vehicle in conjunction with the speed of the vehicle ahead. However, if it is necessary to accelerate for a lane change or if the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly causing you to close in on the vehicle rapidly, accelerate using the accelerator pedal or decelerate using the brake pedal depending on the conditions.

While the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system is in use, it does not cancel even if the selector lever (automatic transaxle)/shift lever (manual transaxle) is operated and any intended engine braking will not occur. If deceleration is required, lower the vehicle speed setting or depress the brake pedal.

The brake lights are illuminated while the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) automatic braking is operating, however, they may not be illuminated while the vehicle is on a down slope at the set vehicle speed or travelling at a constant speed and following a vehicle ahead.

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) warning light (amber) illuminates when the system has a malfunction.

Refer to Warning Lights (Search) .

The headway control operation can be cancelled and the system can be switched to only cruise control. Refer to Cruise Control Function (Search) .

  1. 2024 Base Model

2024 Base Model - "Mazda Radar Cruise Control" Setting Won't Stay Off When I Restart My Car I much prefer traditional cruise control settings, and have been annoyed with Mazda's adaptive one that, among other things, slams on the breaks when someone pulls a reasonable distance front of me (instead of just coasting to a slower speed).

Also, when a car ahead of me speeds up or shifts lanes, I notice the mazda system floors it to achieve the set speed. The whole system is really rough and inelegant. My fiancé has a Subaru and the radar cruise control on that things is super refined and smooth, and also it has the auto-steer feature at all speeds, not just less than 40mph.

  4. Radar cruise control and lane centering : r/mazda

Mazda doesn't have "lane centering", they have lane keep assist. Mazda's lane keep assist will warn you when you're about to depart your lane and provide some steering assistance to help prevent you from leaving it, but doesn't keep it "centered" in the lane for you. The owner's manual even says that you need to stay on course ...

Don't know how I used to drive with regular dumb cruise control 🙃 Helps when you change lanes etc and there is a car in front, slows down and then take u back to the initial speed. 6. Mazda Radar Cruise Control versus Cruising and Traffic Support

kvetcha-rdt. • 9 mo. ago. I think Cruising and Traffic support allows the system to come to a complete stop and then resume moving with cruise control enabled. MRCC is more limited and has a minimum speed. My manual 3 has MRCC, but not Cruising and Traffic Support. 2.

Hi all - hoping someone can help. My adaptive cruise control and regular cruise control isn't working well anymore. Out of nowhere, it stopped working completely but now it seems to work only during the daytime. Nightime it will not engage. Not even regular cruise control will work at anytime oddly enough.

  9. Radar cruise control and brake lights. : r/MazdaCX30

Bob-Weaver-JH • 1 yr. ago. Yea I had the same thought after using the RCC, that it may be the reason of the constant on and off of brake lights on other cars. I suppose I am still not sure of when the brakes are being applied. I would imagine minimal decreases in speed would be done by letting off the acceleration.

  10. Review: Mazda Radar Cruise Control

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system utilizes a front mounted radar behind the Mazda emblem in the grill to automatically slow the car to a safe following distance when the car ahead is going slower than the speed set in the cruise control.
