Our mission.

Making the Game Better for All Ages

The Southern California PGA Junior Tour’s mission is to create learning and playing opportunities for individuals of all ages and skill levels throughout Southern California. The SCPGA Junior Tour strives to foster and develop these values that will positively impact our member’s character on and off the golf course.

Established in 1948, the Southern California PGA now hosts one of the largest and most respected junior golf programs in the country. The SCPGA Junior Tour is a three-tiered program featuring the Toyota Tour Cup, the Players Tour and the Junior Development Tour. Together, these three tours administer over 290 tournaments annually for kids of all ages and skill levels. These events provide playing opportunities throughout Southern California, many of which are hosted by PGA facilities. The Junior Tour boasts countless alumni including Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Lizette Salas, Charlie Wi, Brendan Steele, Danielle Kang, Jennifer Johnson, John Cook, Patrick Cantlay and many more.

2024 Junior Tour Handbook Final Edition.docx

Player Expectations

The following expectations, clearly stated in our Junior Tour Handbook, will be strictly enforced moving forward at all of our events.  These expectations, when met, make for a more enjoyable experience and provide for a better learning and competitive environment.

Player Expectations: Have fun! Develop not only your game but your people skills. Compete fairly & honestly. Playing tournament golf requires not only a higher level of skill but a higher regard for the rules & etiquette along with a greater commitment to being an honest competitor.

Confrontation or bullying of any kind will result in immediate disqualification from the event with the potential for future denial from tournament entry.

When you first arrive at the course, find a Junior Tour staff member and check-in. Confirm your start time and receive your check-in code, then you can make your way to the practice areas.

Report to the 1st tee a minimum of 10 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time and be ready to tee off. This will allow the starter to make necessary adjustments to pairings, if required. You should bring any spectators with you as well, for review of Spectator Expectations.

Pace of play is key !  ou want to keep pace with the group in front of you. Tough holes happen and you will fall behind at times; however, it is the group’s responsibility to catch back up. Course management goes a long way in keeping pace with the group in front of you. Tour staff will be monitoring play throughout the event and most times you will see us with a smile and a wave to indicate all is good. We will stop and ask a group to work towards getting back into position with the group in front of them if out of position. We most likely will check back a few holes later to see how a slower group has progressed in catching up.

As players, you are responsible for your spectators. Your spectators must never be in the fairway. They must remain in the rough and at least a shot ahead of your group, only exception to this is helping to find a lost ball; however, once found or declared lost, and the appropriate steps taken to correct, they should return to staying a shot ahead. You should be taking no advice from them. Remember: Penalties or disqualifications could occur.

**  Think of it this way, no one ever saw Tiger’s dad walking down the middle of the fairway with him! **

Tournament Rules:

The WNYPGA Junior Tour is a strong believer and advocates for fair play and competition for all. One of the best ways to achieve that is by having our players know the Rules of Golf and how they pertain to tournament golf while playing in our Tour events. It is the player’s responsibility to know the rules. Spectators are not to be used as rules officials.

NEW: Beginning in the 2024 season each player will be required to take a rules-etiquette-course management encompassing test to be eligible for PLAYER OF THE YEAR. This will be an “open book” test focusing on the most common rules and situations players will encounter. They can, and are actually encouraged to, use the USGA Rules app to complete the test. When a score of 75% or higher is reached the player will be able to register for individual events. A player may take the test multiple times to reach the 75% goal if needed. The test will be part of the membership registration process.

Spectators Expectations:

As much as we want the players to have fun, we want you to as well. There are memories to be made during these events and we want them to be positive ones.

*All spectators should report to the 1st tee with their player for a brief review of expectations at each event.

*Please refrain from using a cellphone on the golf course.

Spectators are to remain at least a shot ahead at all times. As stated above, the exception would be when helping to find a ball, but once the situation is settled, you must resume your appropriate positioning.

You are not allowed to offer any advice or coaching to your player . We want our players to learn to deal with situations within themselves and within their pairings. Scoring issues should be rectified within the pairing.

Confrontational behavior or speaking towards a player, another spectator, or staff member will not be tolerated . This is absolute!! It will result in removal from the event and/or prohibition from future events.

Our staff is limited, but we will be monitoring the players and spectators as best we can during the round. Our goal is to drive by with just a smile and a wave. If this happens, it means everyone is in a great position and expectations are being met.

The WNY PGA Junior Tour believes that by maintaining all of the above, by player and spectator, all of the players will thrive and have fun while competing.

May 19th @ Lockport Town and Country Club (18 holers only)

June 1st @ Stafford CC

The Notah Begay III Jr. Golf National Championship Series (NB3 JGNC) is a 2-stage qualifying process culminating in a 54-hole National Championship that will air on Golf Channel during a 2-hour broadcast. The Series is open to all players. In 2024, players who qualify through the available qualifying spots below will move onto the NB3 Ohio Boys Regional Final on July 18th – 19th at the Mill Creek GC (Boys Only) and the PKB/NB3 Michigan Girls Regional Final on August 1st – 2nd (Girls Only). If a player is unable to make it to the above Regional Finals, please contact our office at 407-675-4567 or email us at  [email protected]  and we will transfer the player to a tournament that does work for their schedule (based on availability).

The NB3 JGNC will offer the following Qualifying Spots by Division into their respective Regional Finals:

  • Boys 16-18: 3 spots
  • Boys 13-15: 3 spots
  • Girls 16-18: 3 spots
  • Girls 13-15: 3 spots

*A player’s age division is determined by their age on May 1st and age divisions are as follows for the NB3 JGNC Series for both boys and girls: 16-18, 14-15, 12-13, and 10-11. If a player turns 14 in July of 2024, they will compete in the 12-13 Division throughout the entirety of the NB3 JGNC Series even though they may be 14 during a Local Event or Regional Final. If a player turns 14 before May 1st of 2024, then the player will compete in the 14-15 Division throughout the entirety of the NB3 JGNC Series. If your birthdate falls on May 1st and you turn 14, you will play in the 14-15 division (This age cutoff applies for all Divisions). If a player is 19 or attending College during the Local/Regional/Championship stages of the NB3 JGNC, they will not be able to participate.

How will I know my tee time and who I will be paired with for an event? Tee times and pairings typically go out 2-3 days via email before the scheduled tournament, along with an information sheet that is specific to the event host location. Information like, driving range access, availability & cost of spectator carts, safety items, etc. will also be included. Tee times & pairings can also be found on your My Blue Golf app.

What do I do if my player cannot play in an event? If your player cannot play in an event they have signed up for, and it is before the entry deadline, follow the attached instructions as you can manage from your MyBlue Golf account. If after the entry deadline, then email Julie Haile at  [email protected] .

What happens if my player wakes up ill the morning of an event? Please TEXT Julie Haile at (585) 993-0513.

Are Jr Tour events canceled due to bad weather? See our Tour Weather Policy in the Handbook, but simply put, NO. Unless the course is closed due to unplayable conditions, we will play. Always check your email before leaving for the golf course as conditions can change quickly.

How early should I arrive before my tee time? All players are asked to be to the first tee and ready to play a minimum of 10 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time. This will allow for tournament instructions, last minute unforeseen adjustments to the pairings, and keep us on time! If your player wants to hit balls or practice putting and chipping, you can plan accordingly from there.

Can I bring food and drinks to the host facilities? I encourage spectators and players to support the host facilities that are opening their courses to our Tour. With that said, a simple snack and water bottle to keep the fires fueled is fine. Most facilities have a Halfway House or grill for spectators and players to grab something a little more substantial or re-stock on a light snack.

Can my player use a caddy? Our Junior Tour asks our players to be autonomous as they play their rounds, so no caddies are not allowed.

What is a spectator allowed to do? Stay 1 shot ahead of their player/pairing in the rough or on the cart path. Act as a spotter for all players in the group. Help find a golf ball (3 minutes search time). Be positive and cheer all our players on. Two good rules of thumb, “We never saw Tiger’s dad walking down the middle of the fairway with him.” and “Spectators should not act as coaches, caddies, referees, or rules officials.”

Rules Questions? Players should be familiar with the basic rules of golf and the Local Rules for each host facility. Players are allowed to use the USGA Rules app. Players should always talk with all their playing partners BEFORE making a ruling or taking a drop/relief. If a ruling or situation is still unclear, a) player can play 2 balls until contact is made with Tour staff or b) TEXT (585) 993-0513 for assistance. Spectators should not act as rules officials.

Emergency on the golf course? If there is ever an emergency with a player on the course and no parent/spectator is present, TEXT (585) 993-0513 or if apparently life threatening, call 911.

What to do at the end of a round? At the completion of a round, all players should shake hands, move off the green, review scores, and then proceed to the scoring area. Scores will be reviewed once again with Tour staff and then finalized. Once all players within a division have finished and scores have been finalized, the top 3 finishers will be announced and medals will be awarded. Ideally, we would like those top finishers to stay for photo ops.

Should I thank our host professionals? Absolutely! I encourage all of our players to take the time either before or after their round to go to the golf shop and say thank you! It goes a long way in helping to secure host facilities for future events. As a collective thank you, I will be asking random Tour players to write a quick thank you note to our host professionals and facilities. This great idea came from golf legend, Arnold Palmer. Kris Kim (right) tees off on the 14th during the second-round in Texas.

Kris Kim, 16, becomes youngest golfer to make PGA Tour cut in 11 years

  • Kim makes crucial birdie at last in CJ Cup Byron Nelson
  • English teenager is son of former LGPA player Ji-Hyuh Suh

English teenager Kris Kim became the youngest player to make the cut on the PGA Tour in 11 years after a birdie at the last saw him get through to the weekend of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas with a shot to spare.

Amateur Kim, the son of former LPGA player Ji-Hyun Suh, made a second-round four-under-par 67, which included a run of five birdies and one bogey over his front nine.

At 16 years and seven months he became the youngest player to make the cut on tour since 14-year-old Guan Tianlang at the 2013 Masters, and, according to the PGA Tour, the fifth youngest in history.

after newsletter promotion

“I’m happy. I can’t wait to get started again tomorrow,” said Kim, a junior member at Walton Heath in Surrey, whose seven-under total left him tied for 36th. “I’ve enjoyed it so much the last couple days and being here two more days makes it so much sweeter.”

Of his final-hole birdie, he said: “To be honest it being a par five it’s pretty helpful but yeah, there is always going to be nerves when you’re on the cut line.”

Kim’s compatriot Matt Wallace lost his overnight lead despite a second-round 66 – the highlight being an eagle after driving the 324-yard par-four 14th – moving him to 13 under.

Former nightclub bouncer Jake Knapp assumed top spot a stroke ahead after eight birdies in a round of 64. Texas native Jordan Spieth, the highest-ranked player in the field as world No 20, missed his fourth cut in six tournaments after a one-over 70 left him at four under.

Breaking down the 2024 ncaa division i women's golf regionals, including players to watch in each field, share this article.

The NCAA Division I women’s golf regionals get underway Monday at six sites across the country.

Seventy-two teams and 30 individuals not on those teams will be vying for a shot at making the 2024 NCAA Championships, set to begin May 17 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The top five teams and top individual not on one of those teams will advance to the national championship. The match-play final to decide a champion is set for Wednesday, May 22.

Regionals include three days of play totaling 54 holes. Wake Forest is the defending national champion, and former Stanford star Rose Zhang has won the past two individual titles.

Here’s a breakdown of the six regional sites, including a look at the top teams, players and those dark-horse teams looking to play spoiler.

Auburn Regional

2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur

  • South Carolina
  • North Carolina
  • Kennesaw State
  • East Tennessee State

Individuals

  • Anna Morgan, Furman
  • Isabella McCauley, Minnesota
  • Gabi Nicastro, Samford
  • Audrey Ryu, Furman
  • Lauren Thompson, Lipscomb
  • Viktoria Hund, Charleston

Individuals to watch

  • Kiara Romero, Fr., Oregon : Romero, ranked sixth in the NCAA golf rankings, has two victories this year and placed third at the Pac-12 Championship.
  • Louise Rydqvist, Jr., South Carolina : The winner of the Annika Intercollegiate back in the fall, Rydqvist is the top player on the top-seeded Gamecocks. She finished runner-up at the SEC Championship.
  • Anna Morgan, Gr., Furman : Morgan has been one of the most successful college golfers this season, racking up four victories, including the Southern Conference title. She also has six top-three finishes.

Favorite to win? Auburn. The Tigers were on the verge of hosting the regional until USC’s runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championship knocked them out of a top-six spot. However, don’t overlook the Tigers at home. With midseason enrollee Anna Davis, as well as reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur champion Megan Schofill, Auburn should be able to take care of business on their home course.

Non top-5 seed most likely to steal a spot? Michigan. Monet Chun and Hailey Borja are names college golf fans should know. They’ve both had great runs at the past two U.S. Women’s Amateurs, and they’re plenty experienced playing college golf. If the Wolverines depth has a strong week, Michigan can be dancing into the NCAA Championship.

  • Louise Reau, Georgia Southern
  • Christin Eisenbeiss, North Florida
  • Kendall Turner, James Madison
  • Isabel Amezcua, N.C. State
  • Maria Beltran, Fairfield
  • Julia Lopez Ramirez, Jr., Mississippi State : Ranked second in the NCAA golf rankings, Lopez Ramirez is well in contention for the Annika Award. The two-time SEC individual medalist has won her last two stroke-play starts, including the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
  • Rachel Kuehn, Gr., Wake Forest : The four-time All-American had somewhat of a down season until she won the ACC individual championship. That coming off a top-10 finish in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Kuehn seems to have found her form at the right time.
  • Farah O’Keefe, Fr., Texas : O’Keefe also tied for medalist honors at the Darius Rucker, and she followed it up with a third-place finish at the Big 12 Championship.

Favorite to win? Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are the defending national champions, but most importantly, they are finally healthy. Carolina Chacarra dealt with injuries for most of the spring, but with her and others over the injury bug, Wake Forest won the ACC Championship and seems primed to defend its title.

Non top-5 seed most likely to steal a spot? South Florida. Melanie Green leads the Bulls, as she has picked up two individual victories this year. Florida counterpart UCF has had some ups and downs in the spring while also dealing with injuries, so it’s possible the Tampa teams could steal a spot from its I-4 rival.

  • Camryn Carreon, UTSA
  • Louis Lau, TCU
  • Sofia Barroso Sa, TCU
  • Daniela Abonce, UTSA
  • Ryann Honea, Abilene Christian
  • Ingrid Lindblad, Gr., LSU : The top-ranked female amateur in the world has that title for a reason. She has three wins this season and has lost to only 14 golfers all year. She returned to LSU for one more shot at postseason glory, and it begins at regional play.
  • Adela Cernousek, Jr., Texas A&M : Cernousek is a big reason why the Aggies made it to the final match of the SEC Championship. Her worst stroke-play finish this fall is T-11, and she won the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in the fall.
  • Carla Bernat, Jr., Kansas State : Bernat has finished in the top three in three of her past four starts, including a win at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. Playing as an individual, she could challenge for a spot at nationals with a good showing.

Favorite to win? Texas A&M. Although the Aggies are the second seed behind LSU, playing close to home at a course they’re familiar with will be beneficial. Texas A&M also beat the Tigers by 18 shots in stroke play at the SEC Championship.

Non top-5 seed most likely to steal a spot? Iowa State. Although Ohio State is a team well capable of being in the top five when the regional is finish, the Cyclones have played progressively better as the season has gone on. Who’s to say that won’t continue in the postseason?

  • Riana Mission, San Francisco
  • Kelli Ann Strand, Nebraska
  • Morgan Miller, Colorado
  • Sabrina Iqbal, Colorado
  • Madelyn Gamble, Washington State
  • Megha Ganne, So., Stanford : Arguably the top player in the deep Cardinal lineup, Ganne has a victory in the fall at the Carmel Cup but also has two top-five finishes in her past three starts, including a T-4 at the Pac-12 Championship.
  • Amanda Sambach, Jr., Virginia : Year after year, Sambach has continued to make her mark as one of the best players in the college game. She has one win this year and is coming into regionals off a T-2 at the ACC Championship.
  • Emma Bunch, So., New Mexico State : No player has been better this spring (and arguably this year) than Bunch. She has won five consecutive starts, including the Conference USA title. No. 6 would be her biggest yet.

Favorite to win? Stanford. The Cardinal, even after losing Zhang, have remained one of, if not the, top teams in the country. Stanford has a balanced lineup and is no stranger to postseason pressure, and that won’t hamper them this year, either.

Non top-5 seed most likely to steal a spot? Washington. As the regional host, it’s safe to say the Huskies will have some home-field advantage. Will it be enough to knock out mid-major power San Jose State or possibly one of the two teams traveling from the East Coast in Duke or Virginia? Time will tell.

East Lansing Regional

2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur

  • Catie Craig, Western Kentucky
  • Lauren Beaudreau, Notre Dame
  • Carmen Griffiths, Louisville
  • Hana Ryskova, Louisville
  • Kate Petrova, Evansville
  • Maisie Filler, Sr., Florida : Filler has been one of the best players in the country all season long. Although she has cooled off as of late, she has three wins under her belt and could easily add another win a strong week.
  • Catherine Park, So., USC : Another player in the conversation for the Annika Award, Park has won her last two stroke-play starts, including the Pac-12 Championship. She also has a third victory this year and is one of the stars for the 2023 runner-up Trojans.
  • Catie Craig, Jr., Western Kentucky : Craig has picked up two victories this year, and in 10 stroke-play starts, she has lost to only 23 golfers all season. Her worst finish is T-9 in the season-opening event.

Favorite to win? USC. While Michigan State is likely to make a strong run for a title at its home course, USC has finished in the top four in four of its past five events, including a runner-up showing at the Pac-12 Championship. With Park, Amari Avery and ANWA runner-up Bailey Shoemaker in the lineup, among others, the Trojans are more than capable of making another deep postseason run.

Non top-5 seed most likely to steal a spot? Kentucky. While this is a regional that features arguably the most depth outside of the top five, the Wildcats have an advantage with Jensen Castle and Laney Frye as their star players. If those two perform, Kentucky can compete with most.

  • Lauren Lehigh, New Mexico
  • Lauren Zaretsky, Texas Tech
  • Myah McDonald, New Mexico
  • Victoria Liu, Princeton
  • Lizzie Neal, Northern Arizona
  • Zoe Campos, Jr., UCLA : Campos has been a star for the Bruins this year, picking up three victories, including at the Ping/ASU Invitational. She has seven finishes inside the top seven in her last eight events. It shouldn’t be a surprise to see her name near the top of the leaderboard.
  • Lottie Woad, So., Florida State : Woad won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April, and that shouldn’t be a shock to those who follow college golf. This year, in six stroke-play starts, her worst finish is T-8 and she has one victory.
  • Maria Jose Marin, Fr., Arkansas : A standout freshman for the Razorbacks, Marin picked up a victory at the Blessings Collegiate on the heels of a runner-up finish at the Carmel Cup in her first college start.

Favorite to win? UCLA. The Bruins have four victories this year, and although they haven’t captured a trophy since early March, it shouldn’t make anyone shy away from the depth they have. With Campos as the leader, UCLA can compete with anyone.

Non top-5 seed most likely to steal a spot? Colorado State. The Rams are seeded ninth, but they have three victories this year and have a strong resume playing in a majority of Power 5 events. Don’t overlook Colorado State as a team to nab one of the top-five spots.
