Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox - The '10' Tour

pmj tour 2022 uk

FINAL CURTAIN CALL This show is no longer running at The London Palladium.

Famed “Pop music in a Time Machine” concert act Postmodern Jukebox is embarking on a world tour to celebrate the dual milestone of their 10th anniversary of touring and their 1,000th show in 2024.

Concertgoers can expect a dazzling, inspiring trip through the PMJ Universe — where modern-day earworms and iconic pop hits alike are reimagined in classic genres like 1920s jazz, Swing, Doo-wop and Motown, and brought to life by a cast of some of the world’s best singers, dancers, and instrumentalists. Think “The Great Gatsby” meets “Sinatra at the Sands” meets “Back! …To The Future”.

When pianist Scott Bradlee started the time-twisting musical collective from a basement apartment in Queens, NY, an online, “viral” success story was born —one that quickly led to sold out shows across North America and Europe in the Summer of 2014.

The touring act received rave reviews from industry publications and world-renowned artists alike. In the years that followed, “PMJ” built a reputation as the “ Saturday Night Live of Singers” by introducing audiences to dozens of exceptional musical artists —many of whom had been previously overlooked by the modern record industry — and turning them into bonafide stars.

With support from Lady Rose .

Such a fan focused experience! From acknowledging their YouTube routes and rise to success from a huge fan base to playing fan favorites and encouraging audience participation, it is no wonder this concert (and the next several) sold out. Scott Bradlee has brought a "direct from me to you" show to the stage with artists who are able to remain independent and able to dictate their own terms. The sound was good, the vocal talent brought great variety, the songs and arrangements by far surpass their original compositions and the venue was welcoming. The entire group came out afterward to sign merch, take selfies and see fans, no one was rushed, no minders to move you along after a brief encounter, just plenty of time to mill about and rub elbows. I have been recommending this group to friends for years and now I will drag said friends to any shows that come within a day's drive. I drove up from Iowa City for the show and would happily do it again.

Crazy demographic mix of an audience from ZZ top lookalikes to baseball cap wearing teens through to the majority 40+ crowd.

In many ways a strange gig. Early start at 7.30pm and early finish but two hours of solid entertainment. There was no support act but then again, PMJ put on such a complete show with multiple facets throughout, what would be the point?

Brilliant interpretations and clever total jazz re-arrangements of tons of classics performed by the finest collection of individual singers and musicians I think I've ever seen live. This isn't normally my bag (I was a willing +1 to my youngest son who loves the band) but I was totally surprised and delighted by the sheer brilliance of the entire show.

Go see PMJ with an open mind. It'll be better that way!

Awesome show...started a little late and we were disappointed to find that our seats were close to the back with a large number of empty seats in front of us. It would have been great if we could have moved forward to be with the rest of the audience since the seats were obviously not sold.

The artists were extremely talented and entertaining. The show was upbeat throughout and there was lots of audience interaction.

Would love to go back next time they are in town - great evening of fabulous entertainment!!

i agree with kirilov and its REALLY DISAPPOINTING to believe 1 is buying tickets to see SCOTT BRADLEE with shows promoted as SCOTT BRADLEE'S POST MODERN JUKEBOX. its happened 2 of the 3 times ive gone. no one apparently has enough professionalism to do simple sound checks prior to the shows & frankly, as much as i love most the vocalists, it sucks not ever knowing which will be appearing and if scott bradlee will actually be there. better off waiting for a puddles, morgan james, hailey rhinehart or von smith concert

Was amazing from the word go. A series of very talent performers who engaged the audience with amazing musical and vocal talent. LaVance was a brilliant Emcee and what a smooth voice.

If they had played again in Melbourne the next night, I would have gone back.

The audience was packed and every age group was represented. Everyone was smiling, singing and dancing along. The classic venue was appropiate and it is without a doubt one of the best live music shows I have ever seen.

wendy-saly’s profile image

An awesome experience, every single member of the band was very talented. The audio setup was carefully handled in order to have an incredible sound.

The tracklist was perfectly made, with funny, romantic and vintage moments.

The songs were spaced out by entertaining moments of show, which allowed the musicians and the public to rest for a moment and have a good laugh.

I would recommend PMJ to anybody, from 10 to 80 years old, it was a magical and fun experience. 10/10

Scott Bradlee of Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox didn't show - rather disappointing. The gig was good otherwise, the performers are very good and know what they are doing, but I didn't care for the jester - not quite sure what having him achieves. The flat-floor venue would have benefited from a screen as 90% of attendees didn't get to see Sarah's amazing tap skills.

kirilov’s profile image

The concert is really good, musicians, singers all top quality. The venue I didn't like much, as the floor has not any elevation, which makes the life more difficult for those in the back (and near the bar!). Moreover, there are columns that blocks the view from the spectators. I would prefer to watch this concert in other venue, like in Hamemrsmith (Eventim Apollo).

edudecnop’s profile image

I was hesitant when I went to the show because they had all seats, there wasn't room for dancing and I prefer to stand. The show was amazing- not just the music but these guys actually performed with routines that were really funny. We had a great time, everyone around us had a great time. I'd recommend seeing this band anytime they come to your town.

With support from Lady Rose

New York City’s pop-jazz sensation, Postmodern Jukebox, are set to return to the UK, bringing their innovative twist on classic sounds and performing ‘today's hits yesterday’.

Concertgoers can expect a dazzling, inspiring trip through the PMJ Universe – where modern-day earworms and iconic pop hits alike are reimagined in classic genres like 1920s jazz, Swing, Doo-wop and Motown, and brought to life by a cast of some of the world’s best singers, dancers and instrumentalists. Ten years and two billion views on their YouTube channel later, a Postmodern Jukebox show has become something of an annual musical tradition for hundreds of thousands of dedicated fans all over the world – fans that often show up dressed to the nines in their vintage best, eager to immerse themselves in the experience.

Postmodern Jukebox - The Grand Reopening Rollout

All tickets remain valid for the new date.

Rescheduled from Thursday 23 September 2021

Original Date: Sunday 27 September 2020

If you had tickets to Thursday 23 Septembers PMJ Show – Welcome to the Twenties 2.0 – your tickets remain valid for this performance – The Grand Reopening Rollout.

Please bear with us during this unprecedented period. We will be in touch in due course about your tickets. Thank you for your patience and co-operation. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Early last year, pop-jazz phenomenon Postmodern Jukebox set out to celebrate a new-millennium Roaring 20s, promising audiences across the country and around the world “ the most sensational ’20s party this side of The Great Gatsby. ”

Well, we all know what happened next. Just seven dates into the Welcome to the Twenties 2.0 Tour , PMJ creator Scott Bradlee pulled the tour off the road and made the decision to postpone the remaining dates — many of them sold out — as a global pandemic took its toll, silencing live music for more than a year.

In April 2022 Postmodern Jukebox, the time-twisting musical collective known for putting “ pop music in a time machine ,” are set to return to Sage Gateshead & make the ‘20s roar again!

As always with PMJ’s dazzling live shows, The Grand Reopening Tour will feature an ensemble of multi-talented singers and musicians bringing Bradlee’s generation-spanning arrangements alive night after night. The core ensemble is often joined by surprise guests to make each concert unique and unpredictable – making for one of the most thrilling live music experiences of this and any other time period.

Over the past decade, Postmodern Jukebox has grown from a viral phenomenon into a worldwide juggernaut, amassing more than five million subscribers on their YouTube channel, growing from Bradlee’s tiny apartment in Astoria, Queens, to a Los Angeles studio befitting the bandleader’s increasingly ambitious vision. We can’t wait to welcome them back to our Sage One Hall!

Postmodern Jukebox @ Albert Hall review – a gang that everyone wants to be in

pmj tour 2022 uk

Featured image: Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) brought a boisterous night of fun to Manchester’s Albert Hall, playing contemporary covers with their signature roaring ‘20s twist.

With only a modestly sized band, PMJ creates a boisterous atmosphere that seems well beyond the capacity of just a saxophone, trumpet, drum kit, piano, bass and guitar. A testament to the musicians, who not only played their instruments with immaculate precision but also exuded their infectiously buoyant personalities onto the audience.

The band laid down the backdrop, allowing the spotlight to be directly shone on the lineup of insanely talented vocalists. Highlights included a cover of Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ by the trio of female vocalists and a cathartically heartfelt rendition of ‘Someone Like You’ by Kings of Leon. An unexpected joy of PMJ’s seamlessly endless repertoire was the inclusion of a tap dancer. Her humorous jives with the band offered up an interesting variation to the night’s proceedings.

At times, the cabaret-style gig felt more like a night at the circus. Different members of the band showed off their party tricks and performed comedic skits, bouncing off each other’s high octane positive energy. This made the night feel all the more special as they gave the impression that most of their shenanigans were unscripted and only for the eyes of those lucky enough to be in the room with them.

The mad-cap ensemble wasn’t just style and no substance. Teetering on the line between chaos and precision, the audience always felt like they were in safe hands. Their musical talent was matched in leaps and bounds by their humour and heartfelt sincerity. When the saxophonist cheekily brandished a Man City flag, PMJ was confronted by a cacophony of cheers and boos. Closing the night with messages of love and supreme humility, PMJ sent love heart signs and donned the flag of Ukraine as they thanked the audience for their support through the difficult time of the pandemic.

Postmodern Jukebox is a gang that everyone wants to be in. Although any audience would be forgiven for being jealous they can’t join them on tour, for those couple of hours at their gigs, you are invited to join them as an honorary member of those loveable rogues. You’ll laugh, dance and perhaps even cry – but above all you are promised a wonderful time.

Famed “Pop music in a Time Machine” concert act Postmodern Jukebox has announced a new World Tour to celebrate the dual milestone of their 10th anniversary of touring and their 1,000th show in 2024. Dubbed The ‘10’ Tour, the show will come to the UK to 18 venues across the country including York, Plymouth, Bournemouth,  Glasgow, Cardiff, Liverpool and many more. The tour opens in Perth on 15 April.

In the years that followed, “PMJ” built a reputation as the “Saturday Night Live of Singers” by introducing audiences to dozens of exceptional musical artists —many of whom had been previously overlooked by the modern record industry — and turning them into bonafide stars.

Ten years and two billion views on their YouTube channel later, a Postmodern Jukebox show has become something of an annual musical tradition for hundreds of thousands of dedicated fans all over the world — fans that often show up dressed to the nines in their vintage best, eager to immerse themselves in the experience.

“By the end of 2023, PMJ will have performed 937 shows in 44 countries across 5 continents,” says Bradlee, who creates the musical arrangements and directs the shows. “That kind of longevity in a notoriously fickle industry was completely unexpected for us. There’s no secret formula, other than an obsession for classic sounds and a commitment to showcasing phenomenal talent. We continue to feel honoured and humbled by our audiences’ support for this project, which continues to inspire us and push us to new heights of artistry. It’s the perfect marriage, and our 10th anniversary tour will be a celebration.”

ABOUT POSTMODERN JUKEBOX

Early last year, pop-jazz phenomenon Postmodern Jukebox set out to celebrate a new-millennium Roaring 20s, promising audiences across the country and around the world “the most sensational ’20s party this side of The Great Gatsby.”

The wait is finally over and Postmodern Jukebox, the time-twisting musical collective known for putting “pop music in a time machine,” are making the ‘20s roar again! Kicking off last September, The Grand Reopening Tour brought PMJ back to thrill music-starved audiences in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Europe, Australia and New Zealand, performing some of modern music’s biggest hits in the classic styles of bygone eras.

“I’m grateful to be able to create and collaborate with so many talented people, and playing live to a theater full of music fans is something that we’ve all really missed,” says Bradlee. “We’re fortunate to have so many incredible fans worldwide that have enabled PMJ to become a global touring act, and we’re looking forward to bringing outstanding talent and classic sounds to every corner of the globe once more. It’s a Grand Reopening, but it’s also a Grand Reunion – not just for our talented cast and crew, but also for PMJ and fans of classic, ‘Old School’ entertainment.”

MusicInsight.com put it quite simply in the Before Times: “Go see Postmodern Jukebox. Stop whatever you’re doing, right now, and go see them!”

Most recently, PMJ reimagined the beloved theme from Friends via the evolution of music styles throughout the 20th century – beginning in the Hot Jazz 1920s and climaxing in the 90s with a guest appearance by original “I’ll Be There for You” performers, The Rembrandts.

Meanwhile, Concord Records has released two Essentials compilations featuring PMJ classics from American Idol alum Haley Reinhart’s torch song rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep” to actor-comedian Wayne Brady’s Cab Calloway-inspired version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” In 2018, Bradlee told his incredible story in his memoir, Outside the Jukebox: How I Turned My Vintage Music Obsession into My Dream Gig .

Since embarking on a touring career in 2014, PMJ has performed on bigger and bigger stages as they’ve traversed the globe, including memorable shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. As the Houston Press proclaimed, “Scott Bradlee’s project has turned into a worldwide phenomenon in quite a small amount of time, having sold out shows in more than 60 countries around the world – and rightly so.”

For a band so deeply rooted in Jazz Age aesthetics – though their time warps have touched on virtually every major trend in popular music, from doo-wop to Motown to hair metal – the coming of another ’20s was obviously a symbolic milestone. Ironically, the original Roaring 20s was itself ushered in by a worldwide flu pandemic.

2020  TOUR  DATES

The vision behind #pmjtour from scott bradlee.

Our goals are simple: to give everyone in the world the chance to go back in time and experience real, live music with some of the best live performers in the world.  Although dressing your vintage best isn’t mandatory, it sure is encouraged.

I had the idea for the format of a Postmodern Jukebox stage show even before I had the name ‘Postmodern Jukebox.’  I imagined that the best way to present this “alternate universe” would be by modeling it after variety shows from years ago, with an emcee narrating the evening and presenting various acts, who would then perform with the house band.  I remembered watching The Lawrence Welk Show with my grandmother; this would be “Lawrence Welk with 100% more twerking,” as an early version of the script read.

Of course, this means that we bring A LOT of talent with us on the road.  Multiple superstar vocalists, a horn section, a tap dancer, sometimes a very enthusiastic “Tambourine Guy” …every show is a unique production. Postmodern Jukebox isn’t a “band” in the traditional sense of the word; it’s more of a community of performers, and to date we’ve featured more than 200 cast members on the Postmodern Jukebox bandstand.  Some of them have gone on to launch tours of their own and continue to make guest appearances with us; we’ve been described as the “SNL for singers.”

As the creator of the show, I personally arrange all the music and handpick the performers in every cast, kind of the way Wolfgang Puck creates a dish.  That means that while the cast may rotate and change from tour to tour (or even city to city), I can promise that every show will be the best show that you’ve ever seen, with some the most talented performers in the world on that revered PMJ bandstand.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.
