Take some time to stop on your Great Ocean Road adventure at the amazing Safari Tents at Big4 Anglesea Holiday Park . You won’t be disappointed with this incredible park.
Big4 Anglesea has undergone some major redevelopment over the past few years. The Holiday Park stands proud as part of the Great Ocean Road journey and adds a bit of Africa along the way!
Location and Park Map
Big4 Anglesea Holiday Park is located just under 90 minutes drive west of Melbourne CBD. It’s 20 minutes west of Torquay, the beginning of the Great Ocean Road so it’s perfectly located as a starting location for your adventure.
The park itself is west of Anglesea and even though it is tucked far enough back to escape the sea views, the coastal surf road is only minutes away from you.
The Big4 Anglesea Safari Tents
There are not many glamping opportunities along the Great Ocean Road in Australia. However, you are in luck when you find these Big4 Anglesea Safari Tents.
There are two main Safari Tents available, with Glamping Bell Tents available during the summer months as pop-ups. These eco-friendly tents are massive. Plenty of room is available for all the family, spreading out with your belongings, dining freely and enjoying the outdoor decking with BBQ, swing seat and private bathtub! This really is the piste de résistance.
The wood effect inside gives it’s a warm rustic feel, even on the coldest of nights. The kitchen is cosy but big enough, and the shower and toilet still give you that outdoors feel as it wraps you around in its corrugated metal. Bunk beds are available for the smaller ones, whilst the comfortable sofa is there to unwind on. Cooling and heating are available all year, and linen is provided throughout your stay. Oh, and did we mention the incredibly delectable queen-sized 4 poster bed?! You really won’t want to leave… we didn’t!
The Glamping Bell Tents on offer are significantly smaller and much more seasonal – check out these photos to get an idea of what to expect:
Big4 Anglesea Holiday Park
When looking at the park map, you’d be forgiven for thinking the park isn’t overly big, but looks can be deceiving. It’s spacious with plenty of green and play areas, naturally shaded areas and big camping pitches.
There is a whole host of facilities and amenities on offer, some super modern, others no doubt will be refurbished soon to meet the rest of the park standards. And the kids are going to love this one with so much to choose from.
Here’s a pretty significant list of what’s in the park:
- Barista made coffee on site
- Retail store on-site
- Heated indoor swimming pool with Toddler pool
- New Adventure Playground with sand pits
- Indoor Toddler Playroom and Toy Room
- Jumping Pillow
- Arcade Games room including Air Hockey and Table Tennis
- Giant Chess Board
- Kids Activities and Clubs (seasonal only)
- DVD/Movie Hire
- Camp Kitchen and BBQs
- Modern amenities block with family changing facilities
- Laundry room
And the kangaroos visit for free!
We were very impressed with the cleanliness and standards of the public use amenities block – probably the most modern we have seen for a long time with plenty of space for families to use together.
A big thumbs up from us!
Other accommodation options within the Holiday Park
Big4 Anglesea Holiday Park really shows off its quirky side with its Safari Tents but the options don’t stop there . Stay at the gorgeous Beach Cottage if you love that nautical style, or how about the cute and retro Miss Posey . If modern and stylish is more your choice, stay at the adaptly named Longboard Suite for some pure luxury.
There are also 3 bedroom premier units, 2 bedroom premier units and a spa unit available.
Their range of caravan and camping sites is impressive too. Choose from large powered sites, drive-through sites, motorhome sites, powered grass sites and powered tent sites.
Things to do in Anglesea
Anglesea and its surrounding area are not short of things to do on this stretch of the Great Ocean Road. Head back to Torquay to officially start your epic journey, take an Oceanic Tour , try out a number of surf schools and academies, check out the Anglesea Surf Centre , admire the jaw-dropping coastal views, play in one of the many outdoor play areas, head to the unique and boutique retail outlets and so much more .
Overall review
We love Big4 Anglesea Safari Tents and its accommodating Holiday Park. It’s got Big4 style but with zest. It deserves to be something unique on such an iconic road trip and it really doesn’t disappoint.
Their standards are unquestionable, service was friendly and inviting, and overall this Holiday Park deserves to be on your Bucket List adventure!
Book now as the park does get booked up quickly in peak periods. And don’t forget to save money with Big4 Holiday Perks too!

Safari Tents
The safari tents are the glamping adventure you have to have – camping but glam! The kids are addicted to the cubby bunks and never even notice that there’s no TV – genius! Aircon, a BBQ and an outdoor bath on the deck (seriously) as well as a bathroom help with the logistics of life.
Caravan and Camp Sites
Camping down on The Great Ocean Road? Well, where else would you rather be?! We have a few options here because size matters. It’s cosy down here so if your setup is too big, it can be a bit awkward. You just need to choose the options that suit you best.
