Cycling in Germany
Cycle on idyllic riverside paths in the heart of Europe
Self-guided cycling holidays in Germany
Few countries are as well set up for cycling holidays as Germany. With many kilometres of excellent, well signposted long-distance cycle paths linking its fascinating historic cities. These well-signposted routes often follow the course of the great rivers. Discover imperial cathedrals and beautiful vineyards along the Rhine Cycle Path or ride past the towering cliffs of the Elbe Sandstone Massif on the Elbe Radweg between Bad Schandau and Dessau . You can also follow the rivers Elbe and Havel between the great northern cities of Hamburg and Berlin on lovely riverside cycle paths . In Southern Germany, we offer a lovely cycling holiday in Bavaria which largely follows the rivers Loisach and Isar through Munich’s lovely lakelands.
Unsurprisingly, given Germany’s location in central Europe, the routes occasionally cross over into neighbouring countries, offering great opportunities for a multicultural European cycling holiday. You could cycle the mighty Danube from Passau to Vienna , Austria’s imperial capital, or follow the Elbe Cycle Path from Prague to Dresden . Whichever route you choose, you are guaranteed idyllic scenery, charming towns and villages and very pleasant and undemanding cycling.
Our self-guided cycling holidays in Germany include luggage transportation, detailed route descriptions and maps, as well as very comfortable accommodation.
Bicycle hire
If you don’t bring your own, you can rent a bicycle from us. All bikes are provided with bicycle locks, repair kit and one waterproof pannier bag per bike.
We deliver the bicycle at your first accommodation and pick it up from your last accommodation after your last cycling day. You just need to give us your body length, so that you receive the correct bike size, and we take care of everything else.

River and Coastal Cycle Paths
A cycle tour along Germany's wonderful river and coastal cycling routes makes an unforgettable holiday experience!
Our bestselling cycle tours in Germany
The Free State of Bavaria needs no introduction. Everyone knows the Alpine region and feels right at home. It’s no wonder that many of our most popular cycle tours are located in Bavaria. Of course, Munich and the surrounding area play an important role.
Blossoming almond trees, vineyards as far as the eye can see and exotic fruits offer the Palatinate holidaymaker a beautiful setting for a cycle tour. Become enchanted by the charm of the Palatinate. You can’t go wrong with any of our tours!
Lake Constance
The endless Lake Constance - nestled between heavy fruit trees that give off a heavenly scent, picturesque wine regions and rugged mountains - is one of the most popular cycling destinations in Germany.
Main Cycle Path
The little brother of the Rhine – we’re of course talking about the Main. It plays a major role at Eurobike and is by no means in its big brother’s shadow. Cycle tours like Bayreuth - Mainz or the Main Vintner's Tour are just one example of the wonderful cycle tours along the Main.
The beautiful rivers, which are so wonderful to cycle along, are especially attractive for cyclists in central Germany. This idyllic image is accompanied by enchanting castles and palaces, which are very common in this area, as well as picturesque vineyards. A bike holiday in central Germany promises a lot of rest and valuable time to yourself.
Secluded beaches on the rough Baltic Sea, dreamy fishing villages, thatched houses and modern cities await the cyclist in northern Germany. On almost perfect cycle paths you reach one highlight after the last.
Cycle tours in Germany for families
An active holiday with the whole family.
Eurobike offers beautiful cycling tours that will appeal to the whole family! And the little ones will have fun. Because you either cycle on family-friendly paths or enjoy the tour with your child in a trailer or child’s seat. The stage lengths are also suitable for children, so there is still plenty time to explore the area and enjoy precious time with the family.
Bike & Boat in Germany
Travelling along german waterways.
Anyone who has taken a bike and boat trip once never turns back. Your floating hotel will accompany you as you pedal and on board, comfort, the best food, great organization and a lot of cycling fun await you.
Useful information about your cycle tour in Germany
The climate in germany.
Like the cuisine, the climate in Germany varies! Overall, it is incredibly difficult to make a forecast of the weather across the country. Various climatic zones meet here. From the mountainous climate of the Alps, to the continental climate on the south-east of Germany and on to the maritime north you will find all weather.
German Cuisine
You can’t lump German food together. It is as diverse as Germany herself. The hearty Bavarian cuisine is more similar to that in Austria. ‘Thüringer Klöße’ (dumplings), ‘Köningsberger Klopse’ (meatballs with white sauce) or ‘Kohlrouladen’ (cabbage rolls) are just a few examples of central German cuisine. And what is being served in northern Germany? Fish is of course high on the list, as is potato salad, kale, turnip and beetroot.
Did you know...
- that the most popular attraction in Germany is the Cologne Cathedral?
- that, measured by the number of club members, fitness is the favourite sport in Germany – not football!
- that Berlin Zoo is the largest in the world?
- that Germany is one of the few countries where a jailbreak is not illegal, but also not without consequences?
- that 10 tonnes of bird droppings fall from the sky every day in Berlin?
- that more beer is brewed in Dortmund than in Munich?

Baltic Bike Tour: Vilnius to Tallinn (self-guided supported)
Would have preferred one less ride on the island and a full day in Tallinn. The maps were pretty good for the unguided portion but on day 4 we could have gone a little farther by bike and caught a ferry that unloaded right by the hotel. We followed directions and caught first ferry and then had a mile and half ride through city to get to hotel. Driver was very good, very friendly, and very helpful. Rides were very nice in national parks. Would also look to add more villages. Interesting to make stops and meet locals
Alpine Rhine Cycle
Loire Cycle Path: Wild-romantic all the way to the sea (from Orleans to St-Nazaire)
Fantastic trip. Hotels were tremendous, especially the meal in the hotel in Saint Florent-le-Vieil. Maps were good though I used my app Bikemap.net, to act as a Sat Nav. A couple of hiccups with luggaeew but minor in comparison with holiday organisation. Would certainly recommend.
Lake Constance - Lake Koenigssee - Salzburg 14/13
Setting up the tour, and the tour itself were wonderful. We had a few glitches in our plans and Paula was a great help in getting them worked out. Hotels were very good and clean, food at the hotels, excellent! That said, the bikes were NOT. Even though they were brand new, and the gearing great for what they were. However, we did this tour under our own power, no electric bikes, and were told that hybrid bikes were not available for this tour, also told we weren’t allowed to use clip-in pedals. The bikes were heavy, and we found ourselves walking and pushing them up many hills, some rocky and gravel roads, which, if we would have had a decent bike for this tour, a hybrid bike, we would most likely had an easier time of it. Not happy about the bikes! Also, the opening page of the tour says 1-99 as in years old of people that could do this tour, definitely false advertising, there is no way, even with the electric bikes, that some people could not navigate the roads on this tour. We are 2 women in our 70’s and did it, I am proud to say, we have a lot of experience, it was not easy. It could have been much more enjoyable with a different bike. Over all, a fantastic trip. Thank you.
