Don’t be late for the Manila Bay Dinner Cruise by Sun Cruises
Manila Bay is a natural harbour in Manila that’s been facilitating trade and commerce between the Philippines and its neighbouring countries. It also serves as a jumping-off point for Corregidor and other nearby islands ripe for adventure . A growing number of locals and tourists prefer to end a day of sightseeing or shopping around the area to catch a spectacular view of the sunset. A unique way to do this is through the Manila Bay Dinner Cruise by Sun Cruises.
The idea of a dinner cruise is often tagged as “expensive”. It is also romantic, intimate, and truly special. I remember my brother-in-law proposed to my sister aboard a cruise ferry, also along Manila Bay, and I once celebrated an anniversary on a houseboat…
So, when I received the invite from Sun Cruises to experience a dinner cruise aboard the M/V Spirit of Manila, I was ecstatic… I was overjoyed on the day of the cruise… And a little late for boarding!
IN THIS POST
☑ Boarding ☑ Buffet Dinner ☑ Fireworks Display ☑ Rates and Schedule ☑ Reservations
Don’t be late!
The boarding time is at 5:30 PM. The ferry sails at 6 PM sharp.
In my experience, it is better to arrive at 5 PM at the Esplanade Seaside Terminal so as to avoid getting stuck in traffic along EDSA going to SM MOA Global Rotonda.
My first mistake was to arrive at MRT TAFT station at 5PM. I should’ve known better than anyone else never to brave EDSA during the rush hour… My second mistake was not reading carefully (or maybe understanding) the exact location of the ferry terminal. So this oversight led me to run 1.2 km in heels to make it to the sailing time.
(You don’t want to follow this schedule unless you want to end up ruining your curls and wedge shoes)
5:00 PM Arrived at MRT Taft Station
5:27 PM Stuck in traffic by the SM MOA Global Rotonda
5:46 PM Got off at the bus stop
5:52 PM Called the group I was near Seafood Island
6:02 PM Called the group I was near Vikings
6:10 PM I FINALLY boarded***
***My apologies to the other passengers on board
[message] Boarding
If I were a regular passenger, I wouldn’t have been able to make it since cruisers need to check-in before the boarding time just like in any other ferry rides.
Again, you should be at the Esplanade Seaside Terminal at around 5PM. Proceed to the Check-in counter, pay the cruise fee and a PHP 30 terminal fee. The staff will give you an identification sticker that should be placed on your chest all throughout the cruise. Do not lose this to avoid any problems.
At 5:30 PM, prepare to board the ferry. Follow signs and staff members to board your Sun Cruise ferry right away.
You may choose to settle in the lower deck of the ferry with chairs and tables close to the buffet station and also close to the restroom. But I recommend you stay on the upper deck for the best view and rather cooler experience. The live band is also on the upper deck serenading the guests during the one and a half hour cruise.
While waiting to sail, make the most of the golden hour and take photos with the Manila skyline as your backdrop. You can also enjoy the changing hues of the horizon with a cool drink on your hand as the sun slowly sets down.
Sail we go…
As soon as we started sailing, the ambience in the upper deck transformed. The music turned up. The lights became softer. I also felt it got cooler. Well, I was out of breath when I boarded so the breeze must have calmed me down.
I’ve always loved the wind breeze on my hair and against my face. Not only that it refreshes but also it reminds me a great deal of my childhood. Those times I was on top of tall trees, jumping from one branch to another like a proper monkey; or several rollercoaster rides with my sister. We were sitting in the front row. Those were ultimately fun memories…
Although I am fond of blasting speed, I still appreciate a slow cruise. That said, I thought you’d wanna know the ferry moves very subtly. It’s obviously unlike that speedboat I took in the Maldives wherein one passenger literally threw it all out because of its speed. This cruise won’t in any way make you feel seasick. In fact, you can move around (even in high heels), take photos, grab your food from the lower deck, take a short trip to the comfort room, and back to your table no sweat.
If in case you experience any difficulty moving around, the crew are all prepared to give a hand and assist you. Speaking of the staff, I must commend all the crew for being helpful, professional and courteous at all times.
[message] Dinner Buffet
The dinner might not be gourmet, but decent courses were served. The selections during our cruise: fish fillet with zesty lime sauce, baked chicken with pepper sauce, callos, roast pork with balsamic glaze, local salad, onion soup, steamed rice, bread, cupcakes.
If you have a big appetite, you can eat as much as you want. In my case, I loved (and ate much of) the fish fillet, salad, and cupcakes.
The drinks served were water and iced tea. You can request for soda in can or wine. I had a glass of red wine.
While we were enjoying our dinner, the live band played acoustic hits. They also invited anyone who would like to join them singing or dancing. Some passengers danced. It was entertaining.
Personally, I feel proud of the fact that we have this kind of cruise to offer to people visiting Manila. For one, the night scene surrounding the bay is amusing. Actually, the lights from the infrastructure and establishments plus the February breeze reminded me of the time we took a yakatabune or Japanese houseboat and had a dinner cruise in Tokyo . I’m happy to say I could enjoy this cruise as much as I did aboard that foreign houseboat…
Sun Cruises has been working on improving their cruise over the past three years and until now they continue to make their facilities and services better for the satisfaction of their guests. And they are doing a great job!
[message] Fireworks Display
Before the fireworks display, I already thought the dinner, the ambience, and the view from the ferry were already amazing. But the fireworks happened!!! Wow! What a romantic way to start the love month !!!
I really love that this dinner cruise gives a spectacular view of fireworks on Saturdays. I was able to capture decent photos as you can see below:

Pamintuan mansion and angeles: changes and what remains.
To the uninitiated, mansions are just things of grandeur and luxury that are nice to see but hold no real purpose. This may be true for most mansions to today, but to a seasoned tourist, there are several such structures that are as good as history books. You can visit them, tour them, and as you do you see less of the shiny stuff and more of the past that has been embedded in its walls and halls!
One of these mansions is the Pamintuan Mansion of Angeles City. If you’re thinking that this is just another museum, these points would convince you otherwise…
Why should you visit Pamintuan?
1. It is a beauty
Highly visible because of its unusual (at least in this place) Muslim-inspired architecture, the mansion has etched its place in the country’s history. The architecture itself was a thing of note, with the bold details of the arches and the wispy pillars (as opposed to the big ones that were prevalent at this time) attracting our eyes in all directions.
2. It is the site of a momentous celebration
It is the site of the first-anniversary celebration of Philippine independence. Remember that scene where Aguinaldo stood on a balcony, waving the Philippine flag? That did not happen in Cavite, during the declaration — it happened right here, a year after!
3. It has fine exhibitions
Of course, due to this, the mansion has been turned into a museum as well. Inside, we can see the fine china and the glass chandeliers, even the playthings that once belonged to the young inhabitants of the mansion.
4. It is an all-new take
What we see now are fruits of the efforts to convert the Pamintuan mansion into the very first museum dedicated to the country’s social history. It has been a beautiful transformation! The mansion-cum-museum wouldn’t be the first to transform around this neighbourhood, though.
Angeles Reborn
Angeles itself has seen its fair share of changes throughout the years. In fact, for some time the Pamintuan Mansion became the only reliable sight that you are in this part of Angeles! Indeed, we were told during our heritage tour that Angeles was once called Barrio Culiat, named after the vines that grew abundantly in the city. This unkempt nature continued on for some time, and there were even stories that journalists cautioned the public never to go to Angeles. This stirred the minds of the settlers here, and galvanized them to action in improving the city.
One good example of the transformation is the fact that there used to be wires everywhere. Now, there aren’t any! Either the electric wires are now running along the walls, or are completely underground. The marketplace, which used to be… well, like the traditional Filipino description of a marketplace, has been scrubbed clean.
Even age-old structures like the local church had to be improved. The walls of the church were once pink, sticking out like a sore thumb from the locale (besides, the somber structure didn’t match the gaudy color). Now, it’s done in gray and cleaned up really well.
Museums are being renovated left and right, with the Pamintuan Mansion not being left behind. Now that it’s open, everyone can see its splendor again. It’s just sad that it’s the only one that I managed to see during the limited time I was here, but I hope I can go back and see more of what the city has to offer. Maybe then even the Pamintuan Mansion has moved forward in time, to show us more of the past!

Amazing experience touring Corregidor island. Day started bright and early for 7:00 boat to the island. The trip on the M/V Sun Cruises ll was a pleasant experience the crew was professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. We arrived at the dock and boarded our trams. (Note there are separate tours for Japanese tourists and all others). Our tour guide Armando is very knowledgeable, funny and sobering at times. The tour it self is very interesting. We visited 7 or 8 sites with a buffet lunch at the Spanish museum- lighthouse complex. The lunch is included. Food is tasty. Our day we had pasta carbonara, rice, pasta salad, salad station, adobo chicken, pork loin medallions. Etc. The island itself is amazing. The relics of war are sobering to say the least. The tour ends at 2:00 for a 4:30. Return time. Tour cost approximately 3300P with a separate 30P government dock fee. Please ask for Armando. We have found out later he is the most experienced guide, 28 years of experience. Note beware of monkeys. They are fearless, and fling poo.

January 4, 2018, the only day that I could go to tour Corregidor during my visit to the Philippines, turned out to be the worst experience. My friend and I paid in advance, arrived on time, and that was the end of the fun for that trip. We were told to board, so we walked to the ferry and were told that we could not board for another 15 minutes even though the waiting area announced boarding. Once we were aboard and seated (enjoying the recorded Scorpions concert on the tele), the worst part of the trip began. The ferry was supposed to depart at 7:30 am, but was still sitting at the dock at 9:30 AM because of a film crew and a missing actor. The cruise line held up the whole boat for one person, and they were not communicating with the passengers. Most of the touring passengers left the boat and went for a refund, as the cruise line's plan was to take the paying customers on a shortened tour and still charge full price. What a waste of time. We received a refund, but with no consideration for the extra time to get there, or the cost of getting there (PHP400 each way). I don't even know if the boat departed that day, as it was still at the port at 10:00 am when we got the refund. I will never recommend this company to anyone, and will never see Corregidor as a result of the company's monopoly.

Helpful tips before you go.
We sail to the Philippines in the months of December and January. This is an ideal time to visit since the tropical weather is still hot, but not stifling, and it’s before the rainy season begins. Since the weather is hot and humid, you’ll want to pack light, breathable clothing in natural fibers like cotton and linen. The style of dress is generally more conservative in the Philippines than you may be used to in the U.S. and other countries, so keep that in mind when packing.
Don’t forget to pack for the other ports you’ll be visiting during your Philippines cruise. Most will require similar clothing, but if you head farther north and plan to venture into any mountainous regions while in port, you’ll likely want some warmer layers.
The ports you’ll visit depend on the itinerary you choose. You can cruise to the Philippines on one of our Vietnam, Philippines, and Hong Kong itineraries, where you’ll sail between Hong Kong and Singapore, or cruise roundtrip from Singapore. Along the way, you’ll visit the beautiful Philippines cruise ports of call as well as cities in Vietnam. You’ll also have an overnight port of call in both Singapore and Hong Kong. On the roundtrip itinerary from Singapore that sails to the Philippines and back to Singapore, you’ll have an overnight in Hong Kong, and you’ll visit Malaysia and China.

Princess is launching an all-inclusive, 4-month, around-the-world cruise for $20,000— see what it'll be like
- Princess Cruises announced a 114-day world cruise to 52 destinations in 2026, starting at $20,000 per person.
- Guests who book early would get a free, all-inclusive package, a first for Princess' global itineraries.
- Extended and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the vacation industry.
Princess Cruise's new around-the-world voyage will hit two vacation trends in one itinerary.
In January 2026, the company says its Coral Princess will embark on a 114-day cruise to 52 ports in 28 countries and six continents — more destinations than any of its previous global sailings .
It's the Carnival Corp brand's latest appeal to the extended cruising trend . But it's not the only fad this four-month vacation is targeting.
The sailing, which starts at $20,000 per person, also marks the first time Princess is offering a complimentary all-inclusive package as a way to entice early bookings.
Ultra-long and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the industry.
Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania's 2024 around-the-world cruises all sold out before departing in January. The former was fully booked within three hours, while every cabin on the latter was called for in 30 minutes.
Besides being high-end, these three companies share one commonality: some level of all-inclusiveness , as is common with premium cruise lines.
Mass-market cruise companies rarely go the all-inclusive route.
Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.
But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants . After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.
But Princess has been increasingly vying for a slice of the luxury cruiser pie.
The cruise line says guests who book its 2026 world cruise early (that is, by the end of October) will receive its most inclusive Princess Premier package for free. The perk — launched two years ago — covers amenities that typically have a fee, like WiFi, premium drinks, some specialty restaurants, and workout classes.
Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines .
The itinerary would have two roundtrip embarkation options: Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 5, 2026, or Los Angeles 16 days later.
From there, the 2,000-guest Coral Princess would sail more than 35,000 nautical miles to ports in North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Central and South America.
It wouldn't be Princess' longest voyage — that title goes to its 116-day world cruise in 2025 — but it would be one of its most destination-heavy.
While two days longer, next year's around-the-world cruise would hit six fewer ports and four fewer countries than its 2026 counterpart.
According to the itinerary, about half of the 2026 voyage consists of sea days.
That's a lot of time on the water with no land in sight. Luckily, travelers can keep themselves entertained by attending lectures and programs related to the destinations, leisuring around the adult-only lounge, or taking a dip in Coral Princess' four pools.
The 21-year-old ship also has 10 places to grab a bite, although the Italian and steakhouse restaurants are considered specialty. Premier is the cruise line's most inclusive package, but it only includes 16 free dinners at these upcharge restaurants, paced once a week.
Princess is still a mass-market cruise line, after all.
The company has been increasingly dangling its inclusive package as a big perk.
The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection . Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.

The tour includes some of the main areas including the Pacific War Memorial Museum, other memorials, a few of the batteries, and the Malinta Tunnel. There is an optional Light & Sound show in the Malinta Tunnel which is worth the 100 PHP. There is a lunch buffet at the Corregidor Inn. I would highly recommend this tour.
