Well, we were here about 5 months ago and the food was pretty good, so we decided to go back. Let me start off with the place is welcoming, friendly and the staff always have a smile. This time we ordered the fish and chips... and a chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy and chips. All seemed to come out of a box, whilst good enough…it was average fare for this part of town. The prices, however, are very reasonable. Can’t say that we’ll be back for food, but for drinks - yes. It’s a nice place, but the food quality has waned in since our last visit. More

Been there a few time’s over Covid time’s and meals have been great with physical distancing in place. Dinner specials absolutely value for money. Country music (when you could) on Thursday’s and Saturday’s a great addition.

We enjoyed a good evening meal here. Two had the lamb cutlets, one seafood basket and one schnitzel. The service was average - our server could not muster any enthusiasm. They got the sides mixed up between 2 meals but the rest was ok. We... had asked for a quiet table but even in the lounge area, the music was high. The value is good here too. More

Staff tried their best. 5 meals were ordered. Both Mr husband & daughter had stone grill steak, which was good. Grandsons pizza was ok. Entree of calamari was well over cooked but garlic cheese bread was ok. I had wayghu steak hamburger, it was sausage... mince. I think they waved the wayghu over it. It was at least 30% iceburg lettuce. The over meal was roast pork, my friend asked if it was freshly cooked, was told yes. This might have been true 2 days ago. We were offered dessert in compensation, I hope the 2 square centermetres did not bankrupt you. Very disappointed. More

There was a group of 4 for dinner. The staff were pleasant but the meals were very average. Of the 4 meals ordered, the lamb cutlets meal arrived without the mash potatoes, the beef salad lacked flavour and was only half eaten and the seafood... basket the batter was very greasy and soggy,cold soggy chips and the prawn cutlets were medium cooked prawns. Only the salad and prawn were consumed. No comment was made about the 4th meal. We have had dinner here before and the meal was far better than what was served up on this visit. Would probably not eat there again More

A chemical fire occurred in the downstairs kitchen ! If not for a tenant still awake in room at 3am watching tv , and finding downstairs smoke filled and going down with other resident with fire extinguishers then we would have all slept into the... endless ether of time and space. No apology was given the following morning after we were forced by fire crew out of rooms and had to wait on outside balcony to the wee early morning ! Assurances or updates were not forthcoming from management in following days . Other tenant said it happened 12 months prior ! , same issue! They do a good char grilled steak apparently lol ! More

Avoid if you can. I came here tonight after reading good reviews. Asian man serving at counter just did not want to be here. He never even greeted me. I asked about the steak and how it was served and he said " with sides... ". I then asked about the salmon and he shrugged his shoulders. When he delivered the food he was depressed. Miserable experience and I ended up ordering the burger which was the size of a slider. Will never go back. More

Stopped in for lunch, lovely traditional hotel. Renovated nicely, staff helpful and friendly. Forgot one meal but came straight over and told us of mistake. They didn't charge for the meal and we all recieved free drink. We only waited 10 mins for meal and... all food was superb. Would have come back, was not really inconvienced at all. Highly recomend. Decided to stop-in after a nice long walk. The place is nicely decorated and spotless. There’s also a nice beer garden, and that’s where we sat. The staff was very friendly, engaging and helpful. We ordered the hake fish and chips and the steak sandwich,... both from the menu. It only cost $34 for both. We also each had a nice glass of rosé. There were also appealing lunch specials. Both meals were generous and very good. We highly recommend this place for couples and families alike. More

Never been so disappointed in my life to the point of shock all because I sent a meal back and cleared my own table. Lachlan the power driven waiter on a mission dressed me down in front of my own children because, I had to... cleat my own table so I could light my daughters birthday cake. Please don't order the pasta as it had a sour off taste and as I explained in edible. The night went down hill from there I offered to pay for another meal as they where offended at me for bringing an off meal back to them. More

Dinner with a group of 6 friends on a busy Saturday night at The Tourist. From seafood to steak, pasta to salad all beautifully presented and brought to the table together (well done!). Everyone agreed that the food was excellent, all meals were devoured and... praised. Bar and bistro service was very friendly, chef was extremely accommodating with small requests and the atmosphere was lively yet intimate. In 2019, 20 minutes drive from the capital city of Australia, they don't have anything vegan on the menu. I paid 22$ for pumpkin raviolis and had to get a refund because they don't have ANYTHING ELSE vegan. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Bravo

Gentleman, you been offered different pasta instead of ravioli. as we told you ravioli has egg in it. but you just wanted to have ravioli only. i can't magically take out egg from made pasta. if you know one please let us know that magic.

Amazing food as always but avoid the place for a drink. Slow bar service led by the manager who walked out of the bar too have a drink of her own while on shift. Not the first time iv seen her do this.

Not hard to tell why the Tourist was half empty when the two pubs nearby were overflowing. The atmosphere is OK, the menu also looked OK but the wait for food was way too long - appeared to be the kitchen at fault, not the... wait staff. Salt n pepper calamari and pizza were just OK but chicken breast was dreadful - overcooked, extremely dry and tasted and looked like it had been microwaved and then shoved under the grill (both the chicken and the potato had the burnt look that grilled cheese slices on toast develop if left too long). The pork belly was about 8cm square in total and was served with no more than a tablespoon each of sweet potato puree and pea puree - no evidence of the broccoli listed in the menu description. One of our party doesn't eat sweet potato so asked if this could be replaced with chips - advised person taking orders that he still wanted the pea puree and the broccoli. His pork belly (also burnt in a similar fashion to the chicken) and a small serve of chips arrived - no pea puree and no broccoli. We didn't risk dessert - about the only redeeming feature of the whole night was the tomato, feta and avocado bruschetta which was very nice. Don't waste your time and money. More

Had a pleasant lunch. Lunch menu was a bit limited but could order from the more expensive dinner menu if desireable. Every one at my table was happy with the meal.

Well, we were here about 5 months ago and the food was pretty good, so we decided to go back. Let me start off with the place is welcoming, friendly and the staff always have a smile. This time we ordered the fish and chips... and a chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy and chips. All seemed to come out of a box, whilst good enough…it was average fare for this part of town. The prices, however, are very reasonable. Can’t say that we’ll be back for food, but for drinks - yes. It’s a nice place, but the food quality has waned in since our last visit. More

Been there a few time’s over Covid time’s and meals have been great with physical distancing in place. Dinner specials absolutely value for money. Country music (when you could) on Thursday’s and Saturday’s a great addition.

We enjoyed a good evening meal here. Two had the lamb cutlets, one seafood basket and one schnitzel. The service was average - our server could not muster any enthusiasm. They got the sides mixed up between 2 meals but the rest was ok. We... had asked for a quiet table but even in the lounge area, the music was high. The value is good here too. More

Staff tried their best. 5 meals were ordered. Both Mr husband & daughter had stone grill steak, which was good. Grandsons pizza was ok. Entree of calamari was well over cooked but garlic cheese bread was ok. I had wayghu steak hamburger, it was sausage... mince. I think they waved the wayghu over it. It was at least 30% iceburg lettuce. The over meal was roast pork, my friend asked if it was freshly cooked, was told yes. This might have been true 2 days ago. We were offered dessert in compensation, I hope the 2 square centermetres did not bankrupt you. Very disappointed. More

There was a group of 4 for dinner. The staff were pleasant but the meals were very average. Of the 4 meals ordered, the lamb cutlets meal arrived without the mash potatoes, the beef salad lacked flavour and was only half eaten and the seafood... basket the batter was very greasy and soggy,cold soggy chips and the prawn cutlets were medium cooked prawns. Only the salad and prawn were consumed. No comment was made about the 4th meal. We have had dinner here before and the meal was far better than what was served up on this visit. Would probably not eat there again More

A chemical fire occurred in the downstairs kitchen ! If not for a tenant still awake in room at 3am watching tv , and finding downstairs smoke filled and going down with other resident with fire extinguishers then we would have all slept into the... endless ether of time and space. No apology was given the following morning after we were forced by fire crew out of rooms and had to wait on outside balcony to the wee early morning ! Assurances or updates were not forthcoming from management in following days . Other tenant said it happened 12 months prior ! , same issue! They do a good char grilled steak apparently lol ! More

Avoid if you can. I came here tonight after reading good reviews. Asian man serving at counter just did not want to be here. He never even greeted me. I asked about the steak and how it was served and he said " with sides... ". I then asked about the salmon and he shrugged his shoulders. When he delivered the food he was depressed. Miserable experience and I ended up ordering the burger which was the size of a slider. Will never go back. More

Stopped in for lunch, lovely traditional hotel. Renovated nicely, staff helpful and friendly. Forgot one meal but came straight over and told us of mistake. They didn't charge for the meal and we all recieved free drink. We only waited 10 mins for meal and... all food was superb. Would have come back, was not really inconvienced at all. Highly recomend. Decided to stop-in after a nice long walk. The place is nicely decorated and spotless. There’s also a nice beer garden, and that’s where we sat. The staff was very friendly, engaging and helpful. We ordered the hake fish and chips and the steak sandwich,... both from the menu. It only cost $34 for both. We also each had a nice glass of rosé. There were also appealing lunch specials. Both meals were generous and very good. We highly recommend this place for couples and families alike. More

Never been so disappointed in my life to the point of shock all because I sent a meal back and cleared my own table. Lachlan the power driven waiter on a mission dressed me down in front of my own children because, I had to... cleat my own table so I could light my daughters birthday cake. Please don't order the pasta as it had a sour off taste and as I explained in edible. The night went down hill from there I offered to pay for another meal as they where offended at me for bringing an off meal back to them. More

Dinner with a group of 6 friends on a busy Saturday night at The Tourist. From seafood to steak, pasta to salad all beautifully presented and brought to the table together (well done!). Everyone agreed that the food was excellent, all meals were devoured and... praised. Bar and bistro service was very friendly, chef was extremely accommodating with small requests and the atmosphere was lively yet intimate. Best food for quality and price in Queanbeyan and definitely best service. More

In 2019, 20 minutes drive from the capital city of Australia, they don't have anything vegan on the menu. I paid 22$ for pumpkin raviolis and had to get a refund because they don't have ANYTHING ELSE vegan. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Bravo

Gentleman, you been offered different pasta instead of ravioli. as we told you ravioli has egg in it. but you just wanted to have ravioli only. i can't magically take out egg from made pasta. if you know one please let us know that magic.

Amazing food as always but avoid the place for a drink. Slow bar service led by the manager who walked out of the bar too have a drink of her own while on shift. Not the first time iv seen her do this.
