If you wish to visit Brandenburg's most northerly region, you should allow yourself plenty of time. After all, you'll find reminders of a turbulent history at every turn, such as the historical Plattenburg Castle dating from 1319, which was built as a border fortress for the pilgrimage trail from Berlin to Bad Wilsnack, and now houses a museum. Sometimes history get mixed up with myth, as with the knight Christian Friedrich von Kahlbutz near Kampehl. Legend has it that the respected knight murdered a shepherd from Bückwitz out of jealousy, and then lied before the court swearing: "If I am a murderer, then may God stop my body from rotting." Unfortunately for the knight, you can still see his corpse, which has been preserved under glass for almost 300 years, in the annex of the old fortified church, and it's still not clear whether he was telling the truth or not.

Right next to Kyritz in the village of Gantikow is the Museum of Lies - probably Germany's most unusual museum. The manor house dating from 1900 is decorated with colourful frescoes and contains a collection of everyday and outrageous stories from the rural region. Just two kilometres from the Wittstock exit on the autobahn is the town of the same name, on the outskirts of which one of the most important battles of the Thirty Years' War was fought. It was in September 1636 that the Imperial Saxon troops lost their battle for supremacy against the Swedes in northern Germany. The 'Swedish poplar' on Mount Scharfenberg and a 70-tonne erratic boulder still serve as reminders of this phenomenal event that is commemorated at Europe's first " Museum of the Thirty Years' War ". The permanent exhibition in the tower covers seven floors, telling the story of those wretched years of war and recreating battles in dioramas. Between Wittstock and Pritzwalk is the " Kloster Stift zum Heiligengrabe “ convent, one of the few religious houses in the March of Brandenburg still offering accommodation. Its well preserved architecture and long tradition of holding concerts in the collegiate church make this Protestant nunnery a popular destination for days out. By prior arrangement, visitors can take a tour inside the medieval walls and stay overnight at the nearby 'Klosterhof'.

- Die Tour 2019 von A bis Z

Die Tour de Prignitz ist eine Radtour für die Region und ihre Gäste. Es geht darum, die Landschaft zu genießen und die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Region kennenzulernen. Das heißt, es wird langsam und gemütlich gefahren. Neu in diesem Jahr ist, dass Start- und Zielort identisch sind – was für Sie die An- und Abreise noch stärker erleichtern soll. Was Sie über die Tour wissen sollten, was es zu beachten gibt - wir haben es hier von A bis Z für Sie aufgelistet.

Allgemeines Die Tour de Prignitz ist eine Radtour für jedermann. Es gelten die Regeln der Straßenverkehrsordnung. Alkohol und Handys am Ohr während der Fahrt sind verboten.

Absicherung Die Radfahrer werden von Polizei und Bundeswehr abgesichert. An der Spitze des Feldes fährt ein Polizeiwagen, der auch das Tempo vorgibt. Im Feld sind Soldaten und Polizisten auf Rädern vertreten. Die Polizei bildet auch gemeinsam mit Soldaten und Sanitätern des DRK das Schlusslicht.

Anmeldung Jeder Teilnehmer soll sich am Morgen vor dem Start - zwischen 9 und 10 Uhr – anmelden! Dabei geht es unter anderem um die Haftungsfrage. Anmelden können Sie sich direkt vor Ort an den Ständen von Antenne Brandenburg und der Märkischen Allgemeinen Zeitung. Aufwärmtraining Läuft jeden Morgen vor dem Start – im Auftrag der AOK Nordost. Mit diesen Lockerungsübungen werden die Radler auf die anstehende Etappe vorbereitet.

Bekleidung Die Teilnehmer sollten sich der Witterung entsprechend kleiden. Außerdem wird empfohlen, einen Fahrradhelm zu tragen. Berichterstattung Vor, während und nach der Tour de Prignitz werden im Regional- und im landesweiten Programm von Antenne Brandenburg Reportagen und Nachrichten gesendet. Auch das RBB-Fernsehen wird über die Tour berichten. Schnappschüsse und Eindrücke finden Sie auch im Netz auf der Homepage von Antenne Brandenburg und der Facebookseite. Etappenparty Jede Etappe endet mit einer großen Fete. Die Zielstadt bekommt dort die Chance, sich und ihre Sehenswürdigkeiten zu präsentieren. Gefeiert wird bis 17 Uhr. Die Tour de Prignitz 2019 endet dann mit einem großen Familienfest auf dem Flugplatz in Kyritz.

Haftung Jeder Radler nimmt auf eigene Gefahr an der Tour de Prignitz teil. Die Veranstalter haften nicht für entstandene Schäden, es sei denn, die Veranstalter handeln grob fahrlässig. Internet Vor, während und nach der Tour de Prignitz werden Sie im Internet unter www.antennebrandenburg.de und www.maerkischeallgemeine.de aktuell informiert.

"Lumpensammler" So werden die Fahrzeuge genannt, die erschöpfte Radler (mit Rad) einsammeln und zum Ziel bringen. Sie werden von der Bundeswehr, der Polizei  und der Märkischen Allgemeinen gestellt. Medizinische Versorgung Das Deutsche Rote Kreuz begleitet die Tour de Prignitz mit einem Motorrad und Rettungswagen. Außerdem sind Sanitäter der Bundeswehr im Fahrerfeld und am Ende des Trosses unterwegs.

Musik Für gute Stimmung auf den Etappenpartys am Zielort sorgt Antenne Brandenburg mit der schönsten Musik und Moderatorin Franziska Maushake.  Pausenorte Während der Tour werden mehrere Pausen eingelegt. Eine große Pause dient dem Mittagessen, danach gibt es Kulturstopps. Dort kann man Sehenswürdigkeiten der Region (Burgen, Schlösser, Kirchen) kennenlernen. Die Radler werden von den Bewohnern vieler Pausenorte liebevoll begrüßt und erleben hier ein buntes Programm.

Preis Die Städte der Prignitz haben sich im Vorfeld um die Tour de Prignitz beworben – und zwar mit einem Konzept, wie sie die Radfahrer empfangen möchten. Eine Jury hat die besten Ideen und Städte gekürt. Jede Teilnehmerstadt darf sich über 1000 Euro freuen. Reparaturteam Um geplatzte Reifen und andere kleine Defekte am Rad kümmern sich das Wittstocker Unternehmen Ramin. Die Reparaturen sind nicht kostenfrei. Jeder Radfahrer muss für das Material aufkommen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen sollten nur fahrbereite Räder an den Start gebracht werden. Sponsoren Ohne Sponsoren wäre die Tour de Prignitz nicht möglich. Das sind auch in diesem Jahr wieder die Volks- und Raiffeisenbank Prignitz eG. und die AOK Nordost. Außerdem wird Lotto Brandenburg die Tour de Prignitz in diesem Jahr unterstützen. Veranstalter Das sind Antenne Brandenburg und die Märkische Allgemeine. Versorgung Die gesamte Tour wird vom Wittenberger Caterer „Lucullus“ begleitet. Er bietet  Essen  zu günstigen Preisen  an.

20 Jahre - „Die Prignitz radelt an“ Die Meyenburger auf Radtour nach Pritzwalk

In der Prignitz wurde die Radsaison zum 20. Jubiläum am 23. April 2022 mit einer Sternfahrt zum musikalischen „Frühlingserwachen“ nach Pritzwalk eröffnet. Es starten Touren von mehreren Orten wie Wittenberge, Perleberg, Bad Wilsnack, Kyritz, Groß Pankow, Wittstock/Heiligengrabe, die Ausrichterstadt Pritzwalk und natürlich Meyenburg. Insgesamt 29 Meyenburger Radfreunde trafen sich bei bestem Wetter um 9.15 Uhr am Wilhelmsplatz um nach einem gemeinsamen Startfoto zuerst in Richtung Schmolde zu starten. Der weitere Anstieg in die Warnsdorfer Höhen erforderte dabei schon zu Beginn der Tour von den Teilnehmern einiges an Kraft.

Nach einer sehr schönen Pause am Luch in Brügge gelangte das Teilnehmerfeld dann über Rapshagen und Falkenhagen in das Pritzwalker Hainholz. Von dort aus ging es zur letzten Etappe in den Stadtverkehr von Pritzwalk. Auf dem Weg durch die Innenstadt sorgten das dortige Ordnungsamt und Einsatzkräfte der Polizei für ein sicheres Durchkommen.

Auf dem Marktplatz wurden die Meyenburger dann von den Pritzwalkern und ihren Gästen begeistert empfangen. Im Laufe der sich anschließenden Veranstaltung hatten die Vertretern der Teilnehmerstädte die Möglichkeit, die besten Seiten ihrer Kommunen aufzuzeigen, kommende Veranstaltungen anzukündigen und zu Besuchen einzuladen. Zudem wurden viele interessante Preise unter den insgesamt 454 Teilnehmern der Sternfahrt verlost und der jüngste und der älteste Teilnehmer gekürt.

Alle Teilnehmer aus Meyenburg und Umgebung haben diesen schönen Tag genossen. Ein Großteil der Radler entschied sich am Ende der Veranstaltung dann sogar, gemeinsam mit dem Rad die Strecke wieder zurückzufahren.

20 Jahre Die Prignitz radelt an – Auf Tour nach Pritzwalk

Wir freuen uns nach zwei Jahren coronabedingter Pause wieder an einer Sternfahrt in der Prignitz teilnehmen zu können. Das 20. Anradeln in der Prignitz führt uns am 23. April 2022 nach Pritzwalk zu einem weiteren Highlight dem „Pritzwalker Frühlingserwachen“, dem traditionellen Frühlingsfest in der Innenstadt von Pritzwalk. Es sind alle Fahrradfreunde herzlich eingeladen diese Tour mit uns gemeinsam zu bestreiten!

Wollen Sie aus Perleberg mit nach Pritzwalk radeln? – Dann melden Sie sich an!

Treff ist am 23.04.2022 08:00 Uhr am Roland auf dem Großen Markt in Perleberg.

Abfahrt ist 08:30 Uhr. Mitradeln geht nur unter vorheriger Anmeldung über die Stadtinformation Perleberg. Die Strecke führt über den Hagen nach Lübzow, Groß Linde zum Schlossmuseum Wolfshagen. Hier wird eine Pause gemacht und anschließend fahren wir über Neudorf und den Mühlenweg Schönhagen nach Pritzwalk. Lassen Sie sich herzlich überraschen vom dortigen Programm.  Wir wünschen Ihnen in Pritzwalk einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.

Die Rückfahrt wird individuell gestaltet. Die Fahrräder aus Perleberg können in Pritzwalk durch den Perleberger Betriebshof zurück nach Perleberg transportiert werden. Bitte denken Sie daran, dass die Öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel zur Mitnahme vieler Räder nicht ausgestattet sind. Weitere Informationen dazu am 23.04.2022 vor Ort. Die Kosten bei der Nutzung von Öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln werden nicht getragen.

Wir empfehlen Ihnen wetterfeste Kleidung anzuziehen. Eine Kleinverpflegung zum Kauf steht Ihnen am Schlossmuseum Wolfshagen zur Verfügung oder Sie versorgen sich vorab selbst mit einem kleinen Imbiss zum Mitnehmen.

Wir haben angeradelt

Mit fast 400 Radlern in die Fahrrad Saison 2024 »Das war ein tolles Anradeln mit perfektem Wetter«, so eine Radlerin am Samstag in Wittstock! Mit lauten Jubbel, Klatschen, Trillerpfeifen und Fahrradklingeln wurden die teilnehmenden Kommunen am Zielort Wittstock begrüßt! Die Veranstaltung fand in diesem Jahr zum 22ten Mal statt und somit waren es 11790 Kilometer die an einem Vormittag erradelt wurden. Mit der stärksten Truppe fuhr Pritzwalk durch das Ziel und nahm feierlich den Wanderpokal entgegen. Der jüngste Radler mit 7 Jahren und der älteste Radler von 85 Jahren nahmen ihre Preise aus den Kommunen durch Herrn Mike Laskewitz (Geschäftsführer des Tourismusverbandes Prignitz) entgegen und die Sparkasse Prignitz verloste, unter anderem, einen Hauptgewinn von 500 € für ein neues Fahrrad.

Die Leistungen der Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer auf einen Blick: 1. Pritzwalk: 136 Teilnehmer und 4596,8 Kilometer 2. Wittstock/Heiligengrabe: 82 Teilnehmer mit 2000 Kilometern 3. Dosse Seenland: 43 Teilnehmer mit 1397,5 Kilometern 4. Perleberg: 29 Teilnehmer mit 1058,5 Kilometern 5. Wittenberge: 27 Teilnehmer mit 1025 Kilometern 6. Meyenburg: 25 Teilnehmer mit 797,5 Kilometern 7. Groß Pankow: 19 Teilnehmer mit 533,9 Kilometern 8. Bad Wilsnack: 13 Teilnehmer mit 380,9 Kilometern

Rückblick auf das Anradeln 2023

300 Radler legten 10.551,5 Kilometer zurück

Am 6. Mai war es wieder Zeit für das traditionelle »Anradeln« in der Prignitz. An der jährlichen Eröffnung der Radsaison beteiligten sich in diesem Jahr insgesamt elf Kommunen mit Sternfahrten in die Kreisstadt Perleberg. Erstmalig dabei war das Amt Lenzen Elbtalaue, das zu diesem Anlass das neue Lastenrad »Burgblitz« des BUND-Besucherzentrum Burg Lenzen einweihte. Trotz des weniger frühlingshaften Wetters legten 300 Radlerinnen und Radler 10.551,5 Kilometer zurück. Die stärkste Radtruppe mit 67 Teilnehmern rückte aus Pritzwalk an. Bei dem Kampf um den begehrten Fahrradpokal der Firma Fahrrad Raugsch musste sich die Stadt gegen Wittenberge geschlagen geben, die mit 60 Teilnehmern über 43 Kilometer knapp 300 Kilometer mehr erradeln konnten als die Stadt an der Dömnitz. Jüngste Teilnehmerin im Feld der Radler war die 7-jährige Davina Linke aus dem Amt Bad Wilsnack/Weisen. Ganze 80 Jahre älter war der älteste Radler, Dietrich Bockdahn aus Perleberg. Belohnt wurden sie mit Preisen aus den Kommunen und des Sponsors Fahrrad Raugsch. Die Hauptpreise der Sparkasse Prignitz in Höhe von 700 € gingen an Teilnehmer aus Wittstock/Dosse und Perleberg. Vor Ort erwartete die Radler ein buntes Fest, denn im Zielort feierte das Kreiskrankenhaus Prignitz sein 20-jähriges Jubiläum. Unter dem Motto »Bunte Welt Krankenhaus« gab es ein abwechslungsreiches Familienprogramm. Es war eine gelungene und in Kooperation mit der Stadt Perleberg und dem Kreiskrankenhaus Prignitz sehr gut organisierte Veranstaltung, die viele Besucher anlockte. Auf der Bühne rührten die Bürgermeister und Stadtvertreter kräftig die Werbetrommel für ihre Veranstaltungen und Highlights in der diesjährigen Saison, während die Tanzgruppe »Quer durch die Gasse« und der Sänger und Moderator Peer Reppert mit ihren Einlagen die Zuschauer begeisterte. Das Anradeln wird auch 2024 eine Fortsetzung finden. Dann geht es nach Wittstock/Dosse.

Germany's most important cycling race remains true to its concept and once again presents a classics tour for 2024. A prologue and four stages with the typical character of demanding classics will characterize the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024. 737 kilometers, which are rarely flat, will lead through four federal states from 21 to 25 August.

The Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024 already promises pure excitement. After a short but intense start in Schweinfurt, only seconds will separate the best riders. The following four stages offer plenty of opportunity for further close decisions. The idea of offering fans exciting cycling every day and keeping the decision on the overall victory open until the finale is also reflected in this year's route.

Lidl becomes name sponsor of the Deutschland Tour

Germany's most important cycling race gets a new name: Lidl Deutschland Tour. The food retailer is further expanding its involvement in professional cycling and will become the main sponsor and "Official Fresh Food Partner" of the Deutschland Tour. Lidl also presents the red jersey of the overall leader.

The Deutschland Tour is the Germany's most important cycling race. Since its comeback in 2018, the event has been inspiring enthusiasm for cycling. The aim is to bring top international sport very close to the fans and combine it with many side events for participating and cycling actively.

" Cycling, whether as an ambitious sport or as part of everyday life, is an ideal building block for an active lifestyle. Lidl is also focusing on this idea, because in addition to exercise, a healthy and conscious diet promotes well-being. Promoting this and getting even more people excited about cycling is what connects Lidl and the Deutschland Tour. We want to make pro cycling accessible to the masses and inspire people to lead an active and healthy life as part of our social responsibility. Cycling Tour: Discover Saarland in the footsteps of the Deutschland Tour pros

Experience the Saarland by bike on open roads! What is usually only offered to professional cyclists will be possible for everyone on August 25. The Cycling Tour, the popular sports event as part of the Deutschland Tour, offers two routes worth seeing for yourself.

The grand finale of the Deutschland Tour on Sunday begins once again this year with the amateur athletes riding themselves. Up to 2500 participants are expected in Saarbrücken, who can choose their favorite from two routes.

Bliesgau loop over 107 kilometers

Ambitious bike fans will experience a Saarland cycling treat on August 25. From the heart of the state capital, the Bliesgau Loop covers more than 100 kilometers. The typical ups and downs of the landscape are reflected in the route profile - this Sunday excursion has almost 1300 meters of altitude to offer.

From the Southern Wine Route to Saarland - final stage of the Deutschland Tour begins in Annweiler am Trifels

On August 25, the final of the Deutschland Tour starts in Annweiler am Trifels. The last section leads from the town in the Südliche Weinstraße district to Saarbrücken. This means that the Deutschland Tour will visit four federal states this year. From Bavaria via Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, the cycling pros will make their way to Saarland.

The historic town center of Annweiler am Trifels and the Saarland state capital of Saarbrücken are only 70 kilometers apart as the crow flies. But the route organizers of the Deutschland Tour have come up with greater challenges for the pros. After leaving the second oldest city in the Palatinate, the route runs from the Palatinate Forest with many changes of direction and constant ups and downs to the Saarland metropolis. The wonderful landscapes provide the perfect stage to secure overall victory in the Deutschland Tour 2024.

As host of the Deutschland Tour on Sunday, Annweiler am Trifels and the cycling-loving district of Südliche Weinstraße are expecting many guests to visit Trifelsland for this sporting highlight. On August 25, fans can look forward to an exciting finale in the style of the great cycling classics.

Deutschland Tour 2024 starts in Schweinfurt

This year's Deutschland Tour will start in Schweinfurt. This means that the course of Germany's most important cycling race has been defined: the pros will travel from Lower Franconia to Saarbrücken, the capital of Saarland, over five days of racing.

The prologue to the start of the tour will take place in Schweinfurt on August 21. In the past two years, a short urban course has caused a buzz in the starting towns of Weimar and St. Wendel. And it will also be exciting in Schweinfurt when just a few seconds will decide who gets the leader's jersey of the Deutschland Tour 2024 for the first time. On August 22, the first stage of the Deutschland Tour 2024 will begin in the northern Bavarian city.

Sebastian Remelé , Lord Mayor of Schweinfurt, says: "I am delighted that we have been able to bring this sporting event to our beautiful city. Schweinfurt will attract national attention as the venue for the start of the Deutschland Tour 2024."

The bicycle has always played a special role in Schweinfurt. Important bicycle inventions such as the freewheel which still characterize bicycles today, originate from Schweinfurt. And in the history of the Deutschland Tour, the city on the Main also already played a role as host city - most recently in 2006 as the finish of stage 3.

The state capital of Saarland will host the finale of the Deutschland Tour 2024. On August 25, the overall winner of Germany's most important cycling race will be decided in Saarbrücken. Thousands of amateur cyclists are expected to attend the Cycling Tour in the morning to experience the Deutschland Tour atmosphere for themselves. Saarbrücken is a popular host of the biggest cycling races. But it has already been more than 20 years since the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia and the Deutschland Tour stopped off in the state capital. Deutschland Tour 2024 leads to Schwäbisch Gmünd

Schwäbisch Gmünd will host the upcoming Deutschland Tour. Both the finish of stage 2 and the start of stage 3 will take place in the Baden-Württemberg town. With Germany's most important cycling race, the Ostalbkreis and Schwäbisch Gmünd will be hosting a double dose of great sport.

On 23 August, the east of Baden-Württemberg will be all about cycling. Stage 2 will take the world's best professionals through the Ostalb region to Schwäbisch Gmünd. On the way to the finish in the oldest town of the Staufer dynasty, the riders will encounter the undulating terrain typical of the Swabian Alb. In Schwäbisch Gmünd, at the foot of the Swabian Alb and the Three Emperors Mountains, cycling fans can look forward to another exciting final lap before the race for the day's victory.

Richard Arnold , Lord Mayor of Schwäbisch Gmünd, said: "The Deutschland Tour is coming to Schwäbisch Gmünd! We are delighted to welcome a top sporting event with worldwide appeal. Deutschland Tour 2024 takes place August 21- 25

The date of the Deutschland Tour 2024 has been set. The tour will be held from Wednesday, 21 August, to Sunday, 25 August, next year.

Germany's most important cycling race remains true to its concept and will continue to be held as a five-day stage race in the UCI ProSeries, the competition below the WorldTour. This ensures that, in addition to the Tour de France stars, the best German talents can also take part in their home tour.

Villingen-Schwenningen is the first host city of the Deutschland Tour 2024 to be announced. The city in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg will be the destination of the 3rd stage. The early decision follows a positive trend: interest in the Deutschland Tour is growing. In addition to the 750,000 fans along the route, 6 million viewers watched the live broadcasts on ARD and ZDF four weeks ago - an increase of 20% over last year.

"Cycling is experiencing a momentum in Germany. More participants in the amateur races, more interest in the TV broadcasts and the enormous fan enthusiasm on site show the great potential. As the flagship of German cycling, the Deutschland Tour is helping to shape this trend. And so, the 2024 Tour will once again be an event full of highlights," says Matthias Pietsch , Managing Director of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Radsports.

Villingen-Schwenningen will host the Deutschland Tour 2024

The Deutschland Tour 2023 is barely history, and planning for the next edition is already in full swing. Villingen-Schwenningen is the first host of the 2024 Tour. The city in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg will be the finish destination of the 3rd stage. With the finale on Saturday afternoon, the twin city has secured a highlight with many visitors.

The confirmation of the UCI race calendar for the coming season is still pending, but cycling fans from the Black Forest should make a note of August 24, 2024. That Saturday, the Deutschland Tour will make a stop in Villingen-Schwenningen. Located in the heart of Baden-Württemberg, the region will once again become a cycling epicenter and welcome the world's best professionals to the finish of the 3rd stage. According to the dual city, the finish lap will incorporate both districts, Villingen and Schwenningen. The German top stars will travel to VS, the gateway to the Black Forest, with good memories, because this year's German Championships took place in the immediate vicinity with a large attendance.

Van Wilder and de Kleijn celebrate in Bremen, organizers draw positive conclusions

He took over the red jersey on the 1st stage to Merzig and didn't let go until the end: Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal Quick-Step) won the Deutschland Tour 2023. On the final stage over 175.6 kilometers from Hanover to Bremen, the Belgian didn't take any risk and rolled safely with the peloton to the finish, which was lined with thousands of spectators. Arvid de Kleijn (Tudor Pro Cycling) won the stage in a bunch sprint ahead of Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) and Marius Mayrhofer (Team dsm-firmenich).

The German continental teams with Silas Köch, Jan-Marc Temmen (both Saris Rouvy Sauerland), Tobias Nolde, Dominik Röber (both P&S Benotti) and Vinzent Dorn (Bike Aid) used the flat course of the last stage to present themselves once again. With 27 kilometers to go, all but Nolde were caught up. He held on a little longer but was swallowed at the arrival in Bremen. In the meantime, the peloton was split in two for a few kilometers by cross winds, but this had no effect on the finale outcome.

We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
