Jour 1 | Montréal - Casablanca

Rencontre à l’aéroport de Montréal avec notre accompagnateur de l’équipe Traditours. Assistance aux formalités d’enregistrement puis envol à destination de Casablanca. Repas et nuit dans l’avion.

Jour 2 | Casablanca

Arrivée à Casablanca et accueil par notre guide national qui nous fera découvrir les plus belles routes et les plus beaux attraits du Maroc. Départ pour un tour panoramique de la capitale économique et plus grande ville du pays. Découverte de la corniche qui offre un panorama éblouissant sur l’Atlantique. Nous visiterons aussi la mosquée Hassan II, possédant un minaret de 200 m de haut ainsi qu’un intérieur magnifique rassemblant tous les aspects de l’art marocain. Transfert et installation à l’hôtel. Souper. Nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 3 | Casablanca - Rabat (140 km)

Déjeuner. Transfert pour la prise de possession de notre moto . Notre trajet débutera par une route panoramique le long de la côte atlantique marocaine, en direction de Rabat. Là-bas, nous pourrons visiter la kasbah des Oudayas. Forteresse construite au 12 e siècle, la kasbah est un véritable havre de paix dans Rabat avec ses étroites ruelles et ses murs blancs et bleus. Dîner au restaurant en bord de mer. En après-midi, découverte du Dar el Makhzen, spectaculaire ensemble d’édifices qui héberge un palais de construction moderne et une grande mosquée. Ensuite, nous visiterons le splendide mausolée de Mohamed V. Achevé en 1971 après dix ans de travail, le mausolée abrite les dépouilles du roi Mohamed V, père de l’indépendance marocaine, et de ses deux fils. Juste à côté, nous découvrirons la mosquée inachevée et l’imposante tour de Hassan. Installation, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 4 | Volubilis - Fès (245 km)

Déjeuner. Route en direction des ruines de Volubilis. Ancienne cité romaine, Volubilis vivait principalement du commerce de l’huile d’olive. La ville, vestige éloquent de la gloire romaine, est maintenant connue pour les magnifiques mosaïques qui ornent le sol des anciennes demeures. Représentant divers mythes, ces mosaïques témoignent du talent des artisans de l’époque. Non loin de là, nous contemplerons le berceau de la dynastie fondatrice du Maroc : Moulay Idriss. Dîner. En après-midi, nous reprendrons la route et traverserons champs et vallons en empruntant une magnifique route en lacets afin de nous rendre à Fès. Installation, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 5 | Fès

Déjeuner. Départ en autobus pour la visite de Fès, capitale religieuse du Maroc, et de sa médina. Après avoir admiré les portes en bronze du palais royal, nous découvrirons entre autres, les medersas Bou Inania et Attarine. Ces écoles, héritage des Mérinides, sont organisées autour d’une cour et présentent une architecture charmante et des plus colorées. Nous poursuivrons avec la visite du quartier de la tannerie, haut lieu du travail du cuir au Maroc. Temps libre afin de poursuivre la découverte de la médina à notre guise. Dîner. Départ pour la visite d’une fabrique de céramique. Caractérisée par son bleu cobalt, la poterie de Fès est reconnue mondialement! Transfert, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

• Visite en bus de la ville impériale de Fès, incluant ses écoles coraniques
• Exploration du célèbre quartier de la tannerie
• Temps libre pour profiter de la médina de Fès
• Visite d'une fabrique artisanale de céramique de Fès

Jour 6 | Ifrane - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga (498 km)

Déjeuner. Nous prendrons la route en direction d’Ifrane, ville fortement influencée par le protectorat français au Maroc. Avec ses allures de village alpin, Ifrane est parfois appelée la « Suisse marocaine »! Par la suite, nous prendrons une piste pour traverser la forêt de cèdres de l’Atlas. Considérés comme de véritables monuments, les cèdres marocains peuvent atteindre une hauteur de 50 m et certains spécimens sont âgés de plusieurs centaines d’années! Dîner. Nous poursuivrons notre chemin en empruntant la route des oasis et rejoindrons Midelt à la jonction du Moyen Atlas et du Haut Atlas oriental. Découverte du barrage de Hassan II. Continuation de la route en direction des gorges du Ziz. Nous rejoindrons Merzouga via des pistes de terre battue. Installation, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 7 | Merzouga (50 km)

Après le déjeuner, nous emprunterons des pistes de sable et de terre battue qui nous mènerons jusqu’à Taouz, à la frontière de l’Algérie. Nous laisserons les motos quelques heures et continuerons avec une excursion en Jeep jusqu’à un oasis. Dîner sur place dans un cadre des plus exotiques. Retour en Jeep vers les dunes de l’Erg Chebbi qui sont parmi les plus remarquables de tout  le Sahara. C’est ensuite à dos de dromadaire que nous irons admirer le coucher de soleil dans le désert, un spectacle plus grand que nature! Installation au bivouac. En soirée, nous assisterons à un souper-spectacle berbère avec orchestre gnaoua. Nuit dans le désert.

• Excursion à dos de dromadaire pour admirer le coucher de soleil
• Souper suivi d'un spectacle berbère de musique gnaoua, sous les étoiles
• Nuit dans le désert de Merzouga

Jour 8 | Merzouga - Gorges du Todra - Ouarzazate (365 km)

Déjeuner. Récupération des motos et départ sur des pistes pour ensuite rejoindre la route qui traversera la vallée du Dadès. Cette balade nous fera découvrir plusieurs petits villages avant d’arriver aux gorges du Todra, où nous contemplerons ce phénomène géologique à couper le souffle avec des parois atteignant 300 m de hauteur! Dîner. Nous poursuivrons la route vers Ouarzazate en empruntant la route des roses où nous découvrirons les mille et un produits élaborés grâce à cette fleur. Arrivée, installation, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 9 | Aït Ben Haddou - Marrakech (210 km)

Déjeuner. Départ en direction du village voisin pour la visite d’un joyau de l’architecture marocaine, le ksar Aït Ben Haddou. Classé au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, le village Aït Ben Haddou est apparu dans plusieurs films, dont « Lawrence d’Arabie » et, plus récemment, « Gladiateur ». Dîner. Nous reprendrons nos motos et par l’une des plus belles routes du Maroc, traverserons le Haut Atlas et le col le plus haut du pays, le Tizi-n-Tichka. Les paysages montagneux qui défileront sous nos yeux sont à couper le souffle! Poursuite jusqu’à Marrakech. Arrivée, installation, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 10 | Marrakech

Déjeuner. La journée sera consacrée à la visite de la magnifique Marrakech, ville mythique du Maroc. Départ en autobus pour la visite des jardins de Menara. Par la suite, nous admirerons la splendeur du minaret de la mosquée Koutoubia et contemplerons les tombes de la dynastie des Saadiens. Maîtres de la Perle du Sud dès le 16 e siècle, les Saadiens ont multiplié les conquêtes pendant un siècle avant de s’éteindre en 1603. Afin de s’imprégner de la culture marocaine, nous continuerons en visitant les souks de la ville où nous aurons l’occasion de découvrir le fruit du travail de plusieurs artisans, dont les fameux tapis berbères. Découverte de la place Jemaa El Fna. Dîner puis temps libre afin de flâner à notre guise dans cette ville magique. Retour, souper et nuit à l’hôtel.

• Visite de Marrakech en bus, incluant les jardins de Menara
• Visite des tombes de la dynastie des Saadiens
• Balade dans les souks de Marrakech
• L'ambiance unique de la place Jemaa El Fna
• Temps libre afin de profiter de Marrakech

Jour 11 | Vallées d’Asni et de l’Ourika - Marrakech (225 km)

Déjeuner. Reprise des motos et départ en direction de la vallée d’Asni. Les routes sinueuses que nous emprunterons offrent un point de vue magnifique sur les monts Atlas et promettent d’être un moment inoubliable du voyage. Nous prendrons ensuite une route partiellement asphaltée afin de nous rendre au réservoir de Lalla-Takerkoust et observer le magnifique panorama. En cours de route, nous ferons un arrêt afin d’assister à la cérémonie du thé dans un village berbère. Véritable emblème de la culture maghrébine, le thé à la menthe se déguste tout au long de la journée et est un symbole d’hospitalité. Continuation vers Asni où un dîner typiquement marocain nous sera servi dans un site d’une beauté remarquable. En après-midi, nous longerons les parois et falaises de la vallée de l’Ourika. Retour à l’hôtel de Marrakech. Souper-spectacle avec ambiance assurée! Nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 12 | Marrakech - Essaouira (178 km)

Déjeuner et départ en direction de la côte atlantique tout en découvrant l’arganier, arbre emblématique de la région. Visite d’une coopérative d’huile d’argan où nous découvrirons le processus de fabrication de cette huile aux multiples vertus. Poursuite en direction d’Essaouira. La ville, connue dès l’antiquité pour sa production de pourpre, est aujourd’hui classée au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. Dîner et installation dans notre riad, maison d’hôtes traditionnelle. En après-midi, tour d’orientation de celle autrefois connue sous le nom de Mogador et temps libre pour déambuler à notre gré dans ses rues et ruelles. Souper au restaurant et nuit au riad.

• Tour d'orientation d'Essaouira, classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO
• Temps libre pour découvrir Essaouira

Jour 13 | El Jadida - Casablanca (360 km)

Déjeuner. Départ sur une route panoramique en bord de mer jusqu’à El Jadida. Arrivée et découverte de cette ville occupée par les marins portugais au 16 e siècle et de sa magnifique forteresse. Entre les murs de cette dernière, nous aurons la chance de visiter la citerne portugaise. Cette salle souterraine, qui sert de réserve d’eau, présente une architecture raffinée. Dîner. Reprise de la route en direction de Casablanca. Arrivée et remise de notre moto . Transfert et installation à l’hôtel. Souper d’au revoir. Nuit à l’hôtel.

Guided Morocco Motorcycle tour/ Adventure motorcycle tour Morocco starts with a short ferry ride across the Gibraltar straits to Morocco and Africa, where we’ll spend nine unforgettable days exploring this magical land. first through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen the blue city and then on towards the old imperial city of Meknes and Fes. Heading south we´ll traverse the middle Atlas mountains with its thousand-year-old cedar forest to the high Atlas mountains and the gateway to the Sahara desert , where Berbers still live as nomads.

As well as stopping at many other interesting places on route, we will be heading south following some of the ancient trading routes to the edge of the Sahara to visit Erg Chebbi , One of Morocco’s large areas of dunes, to spend two nights in a luxury Kasbah with a swimming pool. Here we have a day off to relax or explore the dunes on Quad bikes, or 4×4 Buggies, or take a camel ride into the dunes.

When we reach the High Altas mountains we will have two days to explore. There will be a choice of routes either sealed roads or unsealed for the adventure riders. After spending a night in a traditional Kasbah hotel we’ll continue our journey north over the high Atlas mountains following the famous Dades gorge or Todra gorge.

If starting from the Uk the Spanish part of our tour plays an important part. Experiencing some of Spain’s famous hospitality, weather, food, and culture. Plus riding many of Spain’s stunning roads including the Sierra de Gredos mountain range and the Cantabrian mountains and Picos . The Spanish part of the route is self-guided, your hotels are pre-booked in advance and we also provide you with our route to follow.

Starting from the UK Option 1 Ferry Crossings & Route

Ferry crossings Uk to Spain – the cost of £550 is included in the price- we can reserve your crossings for you, However because of the new GDRP privacy laws/passenger location form, If we need to make any changes after booking, ie bike reg number Brittany ferries will require permission from you in writing. So we will deduct £550 from your tour booking, to cover the Ferry cost. If you are sharing with a friend/s, you need to reserve your tickets together if you want to share a cabin. 

Starting from the UK: – the Spanish routes will be self-guided and then Fully Guided in Morocco. We will be on hand to help with border crossings into Morocco/hotel check-ins, etc.

We take our support van into Morocco, as there’s no recovery or breakdown service in Morocco. We also normally take a spare bike, which is insured for any rider.

If your starting from the Uk the Spanish part of our tour plays an important part. Experiencing some of Spain’s famous hospitality, weather, food, and culture plus not forgetting riding many of Spain’s stunning roads including the Sierra de Gredos mountain range plus the Cantabrian mountains and Picos. The Spanish part of the route is self-guided, your hotels and crossing are pre-booked in advance and we also provide you with our route to follow.

Entry into Morocco: we will be on hand to help you with the paperwork and entry into Morocco as it can be complicated. Also before the start of the tour, we send each rider our digital tour pack and the tour info PDF. which can be printed or saved onto a mobile phone.

Intermediate to experienced recommended.

Riding conditions can be a little challenging if you are a new or inexperienced rider we would recommend trying one of our Pyrenees tours first .

Riding conditions: for Morocco are exciting and challenging – due to the varied terrain, dry atmospheric conditions strong sunlight, livestock and people on the roads, high mountain passes, canyons, and desert plains are you up for an adventure?

What type of bike is suitable?

Most types of bikes are suitable for this tour as its 99% sealed roads. However, if you wish to join us on the trail / unsealed routes, which can be a bit challenging in places, then we would recommend that you use a suitable bike ie – Africa twin, BMW GS, Triumph Tiger, KTM Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan. If you would like more info please just drop us an email.

This is a guided tour : – The Moroccan part of the route will be Guided (unless you want to ride on your own or in small groups) By our experienced tour guide, either riding / leading or driving the support van,

Which currency + Daily budget

We advise bringing some money in cash Euros, which can be used in some places for example fuel stations or for buying food. Cash points and banks are located in most large towns for withdrawing local currency in Dirham.

Daily budget – This depends on how much fuel your bike uses and how much you drink in the evenings. The cost of living in Morocco is cheaper than in Europe, expect to pay about 8 euros for lunch and about 12 euros for an evening meal.

This was a great trip and provided a real insight into Morocco. We elected to ride our own bikes down from the Ferry at Santander which added an extra element to the trip and gave a real flavour for rural Spain

Jay clearly loves Morocco and the overnight stops and routes were all well planned and provided a real feel for the country from the cities at the North to the more remote Gorges, High Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert towards the South. The local people were friendly, and the food was good. Most importantly though the riding and scenery was amazing, as Morocco has so much to offer.

The big non bike event was an hours quad biking in the sand dunes of the Sahara which was brilliant fun and is strongly recommended.

We had a brilliant trip and all thanks to Jay and Ray (Group leader) for making it such an eventful and enjoyable trip

Book and go with Overland Motorcycle Tours would be my advice. I have done loads of touring with mates and just tried to find places and campsites to stay in along the way. This tour took all the hassle and stress out of the trip and although we got treated to some nice, clean modern hotels i much preferred the traditional Moroccan kasbahs/hotels but that’s just my preference. I started my trip from Plymouth and rode through Spain to Tarifa and also from Tarifa to Santander once the Morocco part had been done. The Spanish routes were self guided and the scenery and routes were spectacular. I thought Jay and Raz were excellent in guiding us and they themselves were also part of the experience.

Highly recommended. Good value tour of Morocco. I’ve done a lot and am confident in solo motorcycle travel (on-road). I hadn’t realised quite how much difference it would make to have someone else taking care of all the route planning and accommodation – I easily did more than twice the riding than if I’d had to manage all the logistics myself. Great routes, great accommodation, good variety of terrain and places to stay. Advance communication was fantastic, clear and responsive. Communication on the tour wasn’t always so clear, it was never a big problem, but I think that’s the only thing that could be improved a bit. Jay arranged bike hire for me from Malaga airport which was easy and problem free. From the description I thought there would be a little more off-tarmac than there was, but the roads were very mixed and I was happy with overall riding experience. I hired an Enfield Himalayan, as did one other, and we both thought we were on exactly the right bikes for Morocco – fun, confidence inspiring, and we got to explore what the bikes could do. There were others on much bigger bikes, some of whom seemed to be struggling a bit, and who as far as I could see mostly didn’t get to use the immense power of the bigger bikes. Final tip, pack light, one set of kit for riding including wet weather options (luckily not needed), one set of quick dry off bike clothes and some washing liquid, I washed something each evening, always more or less dry by the time we set off.

Extremely enjoyable trip, from Malaga to Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara and back. Winding tarmac roads that seem to never end, sandy gravel tracks on the edge of red sand dunes and mountain rocky trails with cliff like edges, its simply hard to get better! Traditional tagine meals where delicious and the hotels were a great experience of raw, comfy and wonderful. The local people were very friendly and accommodating throughout the Morocco. Jay and Raz ( Organiser and Guide) took great care of all our needs and any issues or concerns our group had were soon sorted out “Thanks Lads” . The bike I hired was the business, it was light and very capable for all terrains ( New honda Transalp). It was also great meet new people and have lots of fun while doing so.

Jour 1 : tanger / chefchaouen 120 km.

Petite étape en arrivant au Maroc pour traverser le Rif, et rejoindre le magnifique village Andalou bleu et blanc de Chefchaouen.

Jour 2 : Chefchaouen / Fès 200 Km

Vous poursuivez plein dud dans le Rif, paysage de moyenne montagne, puis arrivée à Fès.

Jour 3 : Fès / Midelt 180 km

Jour 4 : midelt / errachidia / merzouga 270 km, jour 5 : merzouga / gorges du todra / tinerhir 230 km, jour 6 : tinerhir / gorges du dades / ouarzazate 240 km, jour 7 : ouarzazate / vallée du drâa / zagora 165km, jour 8 : zagora / tazenakht / ouarzazate 260 km, jour 9 : ouarzazate / col du tichka / marrakech 180 km, jour 10 : marrakech, journée libre., jour 11 : marrakech / col du tizi-n-test / taroudant 195 km, jour 12 : taroudant / agadir / essaouira 240 km.

Direction Agadir pour une petite pose près de la mer, puis la plus belle route du littoral Marocain, falaises et plages de l'Atlantique pour rejoindre le petit port d'Essaouira, et le charme de sa médina dans les remparts.

Jour 13 : Essaouira / Safi / El Jadida 280 km

Jour 14 : el jadida / casablanca / rabat 200 km, jour 15 : rabat / larache / tanger 250 km.

En suivant l'Atlantique vers le nord, Larache, puis direction Tanger en longeant l'Océan Atlantique pour l'embarquement du retour.Nota, depuis El Jadida jusqu'à Tanger, les étapes peuvent se faire par autoroute si vous souhaitez profiter des villes et villages, et gagner du temps sur la route.

Très bon roadtrip avec des paysages desertiquement magnifiques’ les reservations faites par twintour étaient excellentes mais bien minimes ,les autres sous traitées par une agence locale furent très décevantes de part la qualité des services( hôtels non pittoresques de qualité plutôt insatisfaisante voir médiocre avec services médiocres, bien dommage….)

MOROCCO OFF ROAD ADVENTURE

• What is Included

The ultimate test of your off-road skills, this adventure goes where few fear to tread

During this 9-day motorbike adventure tour we will cross the Atlas twice through the two most famous passes and discover some of the least frequented pistes of Southern Morocco. Our tour will start and end in the Imperial City of Marrakesh. During the tour we will ride the Tizi n’Test and Tichka passes through the Atlas, spend a night in a special camp in the desert and ride the less frequented dirt roads of the South. You will have the opportunity to see the different sides of Morocco, from the greenery of the mountains and the multicoloured face of the desert, while exploring Marrakech and Ouarzazate, the home of many famous movie scenes. We will ride fast-paces roads filled with switchbacks and flowing corners and we will take the bikes through some rocky off-road sections where speed will be replaced by technicality. This trip is recommended to experienced riders and adventurers who wish to participate in a unique tour.

Day 1 : Arrival Arrival to Marrakesh. Transfer to your SPA hotel, where you will be able to settle in and relax by the pool before the start of the trip the next morning. You will meet your tour guide and go through the briefing session as well as the formalities required before the start and you will receive your welcome pack.

Day 2: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou (approx. 200 km)

We’ll pick up the bikes at the workshop and head out of the city to conquer the High Atlas. The first riding day will give you a good taste of the stunning gravel tracks and amazing landscapes this land has to offer. After a first tarmac section we head off-road high into the mountains on narrow tracks and tight gravel switchbacks, before returning to tarmac and climbing the Tichka pass at 2260m. We then take the smaller road through the Ounila valley to ride through remote villages and breathtaking scenery. We will head to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou and you will have the opportunity to explore this unique Kasbah before heading to the hotel.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – M’Hamid (approx. 270 km)

This day starts with a mix of fast gravel tracks and tricky crossings through the stony riverbeds to get to Ouarzazate. After a quick coffee break, we’ll tackle great tarmac roads, cross the Anti Atlas and then ride through the Draa valley heading south. After a lunch in Zagora and a last fuel stop in Tagounite, we head off-road for the firs encounter with sand. Our last section gets us through gravel tracks and sandy sections before hitting the small dunes we need to cross to get to our desert camp for a good rest under the beautiful desert sky.

Day 4: M’Hamid – Foum Zguid (approx. 150 km)

The challenges begin. We will experience a day of riding the remote pistes of the Sahara. The tracks are a  mix of sand, gravel tracks, rocky sections and more sand. Off-road experience is a must to handle the heavy bikes on this terrain. Although the distance seems small, it is challenging riding and a tiring day for most. You will enjoy the remoteness of the desert and will be amazed by the varied terrain it offers. We’ll sleep in a beautiful hotel so you can enjoy great food, a nice pool and a good night rest.

Day 5: Foum Zguid – Tafraoute (approx. 300 km)

Day 6: Tafraoute – Agadir (approx. 200 km)

This riding day will take us to our wonderful accommodation near the surfing spots of Morocco. Depending on the option chosen by the group, we either ride the more remote, twisty roads of the Anti-Atlas before descending towards Agadir, or we head west towards the coast for more sand riding. Either way, we will cross the crazy traffic of Agadir, to ride our final stretch to the hotel on the stunning coastal road along the Atlantic. We’ll relax at a wonderful surf / yoga resort at the beach.

Day 7 : Agadir – Taroudant (approx. 200 km)

We usually start the day with a ride on the beach – something you can seldom experience elsewhere. Once the fun is over, we’ll ride the remote, narrow – and sometimes broken – roads of the Atlas towards Taroudant. After a short coffee break, we head off-road and will tackle the rocky, challenging tracks winding up and down the valleys. A mix of loose gravel, rocks, off-camber slippery slate will ensure you stay concentrated throughout. Once back on the tarmac, we’ll stop for lunch and then head to our hotel within the old walls of the city. Before dinner, we’ll have the option to wander around this busy, culturally rich town.

Day 8: Taroudant – Marrakech (approx. 250 km)

We kept some fun for the last day. We’ll leave Taroudant behind, and will climb the Tizi n’Test for a great ride and amazing views for a coffee at the top of the pass. This road is a mix of great tarmac and some challenging bits, being rated as one of the most dangerous roads in the world. We’ll then descend towards Marrakech but will make a detour after lunch, to conclude this great trip with some afternoon fun in the Agafay desert. Loose gravel, riverbeds, steep climbs and descents and some narrow single trails will be on the menu in the afternoon. We then head back to the city, refuel the bikes and take them back to the workshop before you are transported back to the hotel for a quick shower and some rest. The day is not over, as our farewell dinner is scheduled for that evening in a stunning location in town.

Day 9: Departure

Depending on your flight time, you might take the opportunity to relax at the hotel or decide to take surfing lessons. Those of you who opted to extend their holidays will remain to enjoy the weather and the many activities on offer, while those leaving will be transferred to the airport through their pre-arranged pick-up.

Our journey in two-wheels will take us to the vibrant maze of the Medina in Fez, the intriguing spell of Marrakesh, the cosmopolitan glitz of Casablanca, the stunning landscape of Boumalne Dades and its gorges and, last but not least, the golden sand dunes of Merzouga, right where the famous Sahara Desert starts - or ends. Also included are stops in Fes to explore its ancient medinas and Chefchaouen, the ‘Blue City’. Malaga - Tangier

Our two-week journey into Morocco starts with a leisure ride through the beautiful ‘Costa del Sol’ highway out of Malaga to Algeciras, stopping on our way to admire spectacular views of the Strait of Gibraltar. Once in Algeciras, we will board the ferry for the 90-minute crossing to mysterious Tangier, in times past home to shady merchants, spies, and smugglers. Tangier is now one of the most prosperous cities in the country, due to its strategic and ideal geographic location for the commercial maritime traffic between North Africa and Europe. Once we clear customs and immigration in Tangier, we will ride across the city center and head to our hotel located by the seaside on the outskirts of the town. A first Moroccan dinner at the hotel and a great rest night will get us ready to start exploring Morocco tomorrow!

Tangier - Casablanca

We will leave Tangier on coastal roads to our first stop of the day in Asilah, the ‘Pearl of the Atlantic’, where we will take a short tour of its small and cozy Medina. Keeping riding south, we will pass through cities such as Larache and Kenitra, two significant centers for Moroccan trade. In Rabat, the political capital of the country, we will stop for lunch and visit the famous Hassan II Mausoleum. In the afternoon, we move on to Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital. Upon our arrival, we should have enough time to tour the impressive Hassan II Mosque, the second largest in the Islamic world behind Mecca in Saudi Arabia. In the evening, a traditional and delicious dinner will mark the end of our second day on the road.

Casablanca - Essaouira

We continue to ride South to the coastal gem of El Jadida, once an important port for Morocco’s maritime trade. Beautiful cliffs and small fishing villages mark the spectacular coastal road to our next stop, Safi, in an area considered to be one of the world’s most productive fishing zones. Many of us will be surprised to learn that Morocco is the largest canned sardine exporter in the world and the leading supplier of sardines to the European market. After lunch on the beach in Oualidia, we will stay on idyllic seaside roads to our stop for the night, Essaouira. Time to watch the sun setting at sea, take a walk around the old Medina and enjoy a delicious dinner in this beautiful coastal city.

Essaouira - Taghazout

Today we will have a short but intense ride on twisty roads over spectacular cliffs. We will cross the Tamri National Park, where we will stop to photograph the fantastic coastal views around Cape Rhir. This is a popular area for the residents of Agadir, offering accessible beaches and easy transportation for weekend and holiday getaways. We will continue enjoying the road curves until we reach Taghazout, a well-known surfing mecca in Morocco, where an unusually mild year-round climate attracts foreign tourists and many locals as well. We can visit the village and have dinner at our beachfront resort for a good night’s rest.

Taghazout - Marrakesh

It is time to say goodbye to the Atlantic coast and start our journey inland towards the mountains of the Anti-Atlas. We will head towards Taroudant, in an area rich in sugar, cotton, and rice, and then to one of the most spectacular passes in the whole country, the Tizi-n-Test. This road connects the valley of the Souss River with the Toubkal National Park, with spectacular views and landscapes that we will forever remember as one of the highlights of our Moroccan experience. After the stop for lunch at Tizi-n-Test, we will continue to Asni through the Imlil Valley, enjoying some of the best scenery Morocco has to offer. After checking into our hotel in Marrakesh, we will go for a walk through the world-famous Jemaa el-Fna Square to start our visit to this most extraordinary city.

We will have the whole day to explore the best of Marrakesh, and it will be an intense one! After breakfast, we will leave our hotel on a guided tour of the city, undoubtedly the best way to spend a full day getting to know one of the most sought-after destinations in North Africa. On our itinerary, famous landmarks like the historic Bahia Palace, the Menara Gardens, the spectacular Jemaa El-Fna Square, a cheerful Berber pharmacy, the majestic Koutoubia Mosque, and of course the famous Medina of Marrakech. The old Medina, rich in colors, sounds, and flavors, is a perfect place to do a little shopping and bring home some souvenirs from our exciting journey into Morocco.

Marrakesh - Boumalne

We leave Marrakesh behind as we cross the Great Atlas Mountain range once again, this time through the mythical Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. We will stop at the summit to contemplate a spectacular landscape, and then take a secondary, less-traveled road to Teoulet. Its Kasbah is one of the most beautiful in Morocco, and since it is located off the conventional tourist route, it does not usually have many visitors. Riding on an ancient caravan route between the Draa Valley and sub-Saharan Africa will be another experience not to be forgotten! After lunch, we will follow the same road to Ait Benhaddou, an ancient Kasbah famous for being a natural scenario for many famous Hollywood movies like Gladiator, Cleopatra, Asterix and Obelix, and Prince of Persia, among others. Several episodes of the popular Game of Thrones TV series were also shot in the old Kasbah. We will be able to walk through its alleys and admire the incredible architecture. Our destination for the day is Boumalne, famous for its beautiful, charming landscapes, as well as its famous gorges.

Boumalne - Merzouga

Our route today takes us first to a short detour through a breathtaking road to the Dades Gorges viewpoint. Time for tea on the highest point of the trail, with plenty of opportunities for photos of the fascinating switchbacks below us. Next comes the famous Todra Gorges, another incredible canyon not to be missed, and then continue to Alnif. The landscape keeps changing and becomes more and more captivating as we enter Berber territory. The setting sun gives a golden glow to the rocks and the terrain that surrounds us as we arrive at the holy town of Rissani, one of the most important centers for sub-Saharan commerce. From there, we take the road to Merzouga, a small Moroccan town in the Sahara Desert, near the Algerian border. The Berber people and a sea of golden dunes will make us realize we are finally in the real desert. A full-featured luxury tent in the sand will be our home for tonight: great food, mesmerizing Berber music, and the night sky filled with more stars than you can possibly imagine. Get ready to be thrilled!

After a short morning ride to our hotel on the edge of the sand dunes, we will have a full day for ourselves to enjoy the desert! There are many optional activities that you can choose from: 4x4 excursions, ATV rentals, visits to the little villages of African natives to learn about their culture and traditions, and more. These excursions are not included in our tour, but we will happily help you secure your spot in your activities of choice. As a great alternative after these first intense days of riding in Morocco, you can choose to simply enjoy the warm weather and sunbathe by the hotel’s swimming pool, accompanied by local snacks and your favorite drinks. Not a bad option if you feel you need some resting! After dinner, a nice walk to the dunes nearby will give us the opportunity to fully appreciate another tantalizing desert sky.

Merzouga - Fez

Our route today is certainly the most diverse in terms of scenery. Starting in the desert towards Erfoud, we will continue on the road to reach Er-Rachidia, a military and college city, full of life with a large number of young people on its streets. Moving on into the Ziz Gorges and a river covered entirely by an impressive kilometer-long palm grove, we will follow the route that will take us to Midelt, a small town famous for its large fossil mines. After lunch, we will start crossing the Atlas Mountains. Depending on the time of the year, we may notice the temperature gradually decreasing, and we recommend bringing along a warm jacket or sweater just in case. The sands of the desert give way now to green cedar forests surrounding us everywhere we look. We will continue our ride to Ifrane for a short rest and some reinvigorating tea. Ifrane, also called the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’, is known for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests. A short final sprint for the day will take us to the imperial city of Fez, where a comforting dinner will be our reward from another extraordinary day of riding.

The last rest day on our road trip is an opportunity for us to know Fez, the second-largest city in Morocco, after Casablanca. The Medina of Fez is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is believed to be one of the world’s largest urban pedestrian zones. Modern Fez mainly consists of two old medina quarters, ‘Fes el Bali’ and ‘Fes Jdid’, and the modern urban area of Ville Nouvelle, constructed during the French colonial era. We will have a full day to explore everything Fez has to show us and then experience some of the most traditional dishes from Northern Morocco in our evening dinner.

Fez - Chefchaouen

Today we will leave Fez heading north towards the Rif area via the Ouergha Valley. The road will take us around the Bouhouda swamp, winding its way through the crests of the Riferous mountains and its magnificent views, passing through rural souks (Arab markets, or bazaars) until we reach Ketama. Arriving in Chefchaouen, we will check into our beautiful hotel and then enjoy the rest of the day getting to know the ‘Blue City’, as this charming town is also known. The gorgeous blue alleyways and blue-washed buildings will leave a memorable impression as we prepare to leave Morocco the next day. Time to savor more local specialties and to do some last-minute shopping in the leather and weaving workshops lining Chefchaouen’s steep cobbled streets.

Chefchaouen - Malaga

It is time to say goodbye to Morocco and board the ferry back to Spain. The road from Chefchaouen to Tangier, although not a long one, will offer us splendid mountain views, typical of this area of the country. In Algeciras, our port of disembarking, we will make a pause to enjoy a light lunch by the seaside, and then take the ‘Costa del Sol’ road back to Málaga. Voyage moto Maroc : quand partir ?

Si vous envisagez de partir en voyage à moto au Maroc , il est nécessaire de choisir la bonne période pour s’y rendre. Ce pays étant relativement étendu, les climats peuvent être différents en fonction de là où vous vous trouvez. La période idéale pour découvrir le Maroc à moto est sans aucun doute le printemps (avril-mai) ou l’automne (septembre-octobre). Durant ces mois, les températures sont agréables pour rouler à moto. Elle oscillent entre 21°C et 31°C selon les zones. Dans les plaines et les étendues désertiques les températures sont plus élevées, tandis que dans les montagnes et reliefs elles sont plus fraîches. L’été n’est pas conseillé en raison des très fortes chaleurs et de l’affluence touristique, notamment dans la ville de Marrakech.

Les formalités administratives au Maroc

Lors votre voyage à moto au Maroc , assurez vous d’être en règle avec les formalités administratives du pays, sous peine de ne pas pouvoir entrer dans le territoire. Pour aller au Maroc, vous devez disposer d’un passeport en cours de validité durant la période de votre séjour. Pour un séjour de moins de 3 mois, vous n’aurez pas besoin de visa. Le permis de conduire une moto français valide suffit, vous n’avez pas besoin de faire une demande de permis international. Cependant, nous vous conseillons d’en faire la demande. Cette démarche est totalement gratuite. Aucun vaccin n’est obligatoire pour se rendre au Maroc. Cependant, nous vous conseillons de vous rapprocher de votre médecin avant votre départ pour bénéficier de son expertise en fonction de votre état de santé. Nous vous conseillons vivement de souscrire à une assurance voyage (annulation, rapatriement et frais médicaux) avant votre départ en cas d’imprévu.

Les routes et pistes au Maroc

Le réseau routier principal, reliant les villes importantes du Maroc est asphalté et en bon état. Cependant, nos itinéraires sont étudiés pour vous faire passer par les plus belles routes et pistes . Parmi les routes mythiques du Maroc, il y a le célèbre col du Tizi n’Tichka . Il compte de nombreux virages en lacets , particulièrement agréables à découvrir à moto. Située dans le Haut Atlas, elle culmine à 2260 m d’altitude et vous offre un magnifique panorama. Votre voyage vous fera également découvrir le Maroc off-road . Empruntez les pistes qui mènent au désert ou dans les campagnes du Maroc. Un parfait combo pour les pilotes souhaitant profiter des routes et pistes , sans s’engager dans un séjour enduro.

Conduire une moto au Maroc

Code de la route.

Au Maroc, le port du casque à moto est obligatoire . Vous devrez le porter quotidiennement, que vous soyez pilote ou passager. Lors de votre voyage à moto au Maroc , vous constaterez que le code de la route n’est pas toujours respecté par les locaux. C’est particulièrement le cas dans les villages et campagnes reculés. Il est possible de vous faire doubler par la droite, griller une priorité, ou encore qu’ils dépassent largement les vitesses maximales autorisées. Ainsi, vous devez être extrêmement vigilant sur les routes. 

Rouler la nuit à moto

Nous vous déconseillons également de rouler à moto de nuit . En effet, il y a de nombreux animaux sur la route qui peuvent vous surprendre. Il y a aussi la présence de pierres sur la route qui peuvent endommager votre moto si vous ne les voyez pas. Les marocains roulent en plein phare la nuit, et ne les enlèvent pas quand ils vous croisent. Ainsi, cela peut vous éblouir.

Les motos disponibles au Maroc

Pour votre voyage à moto au Maroc , deux possibilités s’offrent à vous. La première : vous rendre au Maroc avec votre propre moto . Vous embarquerez à Barcelone pour rejoindre Tanger-Med. La traversée dure environ 30h. L’avantage c’est que vous roulerez avec votre moto durant la durée du road trip. Sinon, vous pouvez prendre l’avion (2h30 de vol) et louer une moto sur place. Nous vous proposons pour nos circuits des locations de BMW et de KTM . Ces motos sont idéales pour combiner routes et pistes. Notre loueur sur place dispose d’une flotte de plusieurs modèles de chaque marque.

L’équipement pour un voyage moto au Maroc

Afin de voyager sereinement au Maroc, il convient d’emmener l’équipement nécessaire. D’abord, en raison des températures élevées, nous vous conseillons de choisir des vêtements respirants et sécurisants . Notamment pour le choix de votre blouson de moto. Prévoyez également des vêtements de pluie , vous n’êtes pas à l’abri d’une averse. Enfin, emmener votre casque moto, un tour de cour, vos lunettes de soleil et écran solaire, des bottines montantes, des gants et un foulard pour se protéger du sable et de la poussière. Emmenez également un GPS (dans l’idéal avec itinéraire sur fichier GPX), un kit de réparation moto et un petit bidon d’essence .

Définir les étapes du voyage à moto au Maroc

Pour chacun de nos voyages à moto au Maroc, nous avons testé l’itinéraire en amont, pour vous proposer les meilleures routes et pistes . Le Maroc étant un pays relativement vaste, nous vous conseillons d’effectuer des étapes quotidiennes d’environ 200 km.

Transporter ses bagages lors du circuit

Nos road trip moto au Maroc sont pensés pour changer d’étape chaque jour. Ainsi, vous devrez rouler à moto et transporter vos bagages quotidiennement. Nous vous conseillons donc de ranger vos affaires dans un sac souple de voyage pour vous rendre au Maroc. Puis, une fois que vous avez récupéré votre moto, vous pourrez mettre vos affaires dans les top case et sacoches latérales. Si votre moto n’en n’est pas équipée, alors vous pourrez sangler votre sac souple à l’arrière, sur le porte bagage.

Payer au Maroc

Le Dirham est la monnaie locale au Maroc. Un dirham vaut 0,092 euro. Vous pouvez choisir de faire du change en France, avant votre départ, auprès de votre banque. Vous pouvez également vous rendre sur place dans un bureau de change, ou retirer dans un distributeur (uniquement dans les grandes villes). Veillez à prévenir votre banque avant votre départ, que vous allez effectuer un voyage moto au Maroc. Ainsi, elle vous autorisera les retraits dans le pays, et que vous ne serez pas coincé sur place. Au Maroc, vous pourrez payer par carte bancaire ou en espèce. A chaque paiement en carte, ou retrait d’espèce, des frais s’appliquent. Contactez votre banque pour en savoir plus. Les Marocains préfèrent généralement les paiements en espèce.

-Le parc national d'Ifrane est un parc national Marocain, l'un des représentatifs par la richesse de son écosystème et de ses paysages.

 Il abrite notamment la plus grande forêt de cèdres du monde.

-Le Massif de Tichoukt dans la region de Boulmane. Un Massif situé entre le Moyen Atlas central et le Moyen Atlas Oriantal.

L'Oriental
