5 Spots Every Fan of ‘The Office’ Must Visit in Scranton, PA

We’re not just fans of “The Office”. We’re borderline-obsessed, know-every-quote, watch-it-constantly superfans. So, when we road-tripped out to the Poconos for a long weekend with our family in November, it only made sense that we would visit the city where the show was based.

Unlike one of our other favorite shows, Parks & Recreation – another Greg Daniels/Michael Schur masterpiece – “The Office” is set in a real city: Scranton, Pennsylvania.

As I’ve learned from the Office Ladies podcast , the directors took great care to ensure the show remained authentic to its Scranton setting.

They even went as far as picking up local props (fliers, products, stickers, magnets, restaurant menus and more) to decorate the background of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton set.

Remember that Froggy 101 sticker on Dwight’s desk? Yep, that’s a real radio station in Scranton. What about the club soda featured throughout the show? That was from the Crystal Soda Water Co., a family-run business in Scranton.

These little nods to the former coal town make the show feel like it was really filmed there (despite occasionally seeing palm trees in the background of the driving scenes).

Of course, there are also the more memorable and recognizable Scranton locales featured on “The Office”, including:

  • Alfredo’s Pizza Café (not to be confused with the vastly inferior Pizza by Alfredo, which is fictional)

Cooper’s Seafood House

Poor richard’s pub.

  • The Marketplace at Steamtown (aka the Steamtown Mall)
  • Penn Paper tower

We visited these spots and share all the details below – including which ones were surprisingly awesome and which were sort of meh. Plus, don’t miss our bonus “The Office” locations at the end of the blog!

Now, let’s get this party started!

Alfredo’s Pizza Café

1040 s. washington ave..

tour the office set

We all remember the argument in season 4’s “Launch Party” (or should I say “Lunch Party”?) about Alfredo’s Pizza Café versus Pizza by Alfredo. And while the latter is fictional, I can confidently attest to the delicious taste of a pepperoni slice from Alfredo’s Pizza Café.

It’s no wonder the employees were peeved at Michael for ordering the wrong pizza! Even its menu reminds you: It’s “home to ‘the good pizza’ as seen on The Office”.

During your tour of Scranton, be sure to add Alfredo’s to your list. It’s the perfect lunch spot, with plenty of options for everyone. Beyond pizza, they serve salads, wraps, burgers, subs, pasta, steak, seafood and more.

701 N. Washington Ave.

The “business/romantic” Cooper’s Seafood House was mentioned several times in the show, but was featured most prominently in season 5’s “Business Ethics” episode. Though the interior scenes were filmed in Los Angeles, the exterior shot was actually filmed on-site at the real Cooper’s.

Truthfully, I was most excited about visiting Cooper’s during our Scranton tour – not because of the food, but because it’s the only place in Scranton (surprisingly) that boasts a huge collection of “The Office” merchandise. You better believe we left with a bag full of totally necessary merch.

tour the office set

Plus, Cooper’s houses some incredible pop culture memorabilia, so even if you’re not a fan of “The Office”, you’ll have fun wandering the halls and marveling at all the treasures of yesteryear.

A favorite of the employees of Dunder Mifflin, Poor Richard’s is mentioned and featured in many episodes, most notably in “Cocktails”, “Local Ad”, “St. Patrick’s Day” and “A.A.R.M.” – the second-to-last episode of the series, in which the office employees head to the dive bar to watch the official airing of the documentary.

Unless you listen to the Office Ladies podcast or live in the Scranton area, it may come as a surprise that the real Poor Richard’s Pub is located inside a bowling alley (South Side Bowl). If you want any Poor Richard’s swaaaaaaag, be sure to stop in the bowling alley, where they have T-shirts and hoodies for sale.

The Marketplace at Steamtown

300 lackawanna ave..

tour the office set

Nobody loves the Steamtown Mall more than Kelly Kapoor. So, when Michael Scott takes the ladies to the mall in season 3’s “Women’s Appreciation”, it’s a dream come true for Kelly.

Mike and I, however, didn’t get as much enjoyment out of our visit to The Marketplace at Steamtown. Beyond the lure of its mention on “The Office”, there wasn’t anything extraordinary about it.

There is one benefit of visiting, though. It’s where the “Scranton Welcomes You” sign is located. The sign, which you see in the intro of each episode, was moved to the mall after causing too much disruption on the road – due to people stopping to take pictures with it.

Now on the second floor of the mall, the sign sits on AstroTurf in front of a printed screen of Scranton. Not quite the same as if it were outside, but it’s still a good photo op for “The Office” superfans!

tour the office set

Penn Paper Tower

215 vine st..

tour the office set

Even if you used to skip the intro on Netflix, the iconic image of the Dunder Mifflin tower still made its way onto your screen.

The first shot shown in the intro was apparently filmed by John Krasinski (Jim Halpert) during one of his early trips to Scranton, according to the Office Ladies. The footage made its way into the intro, becoming the backdrop to one of TV’s most recognizable theme songs.

The tower – actually home to the family-owned Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company – isn’t far from The Marketplace at Steamtown, so you can walk there to take in the scenery, or drive if you’re pressed for time.

I love that the tower still features the Dunder Mifflin logo, even eight years after the show last aired!

Bonus “The Office” Locales

Electric city sign, 507 linden st. .

tour the office set

They call it Scranton! What?! The Electric City!

Even though this spot wasn’t featured in the show, it’s still a must-see for “The Office” fans. The sign lights up Scranton’s skyline at night, but even during the day, it will surely remind you of Michael’s “Lazy Scranton” employee orientation song.

Electric City Mural, Central Scranton Expressway on/off ramp exit off I-81

Keep your eyes open for this easy-to-miss mural off the highway. It’s not really a must-see, but it’s worth snapping a photo as you drive by.

Lake Wallenpaupack, 2512 Route 6 Ste 1 Hawley, PA

tour the office set

It’s a booze cruise!

Located just 40 minutes from Scranton is the famous Lake Wallenpaupack, where season 2’s “Booze Cruise” is set. If you have some time to spare, be sure to check it out. The lake is beautiful, and there’s a trail around it that offers scenic views – perfect for couples or families.

California? That’s a far way from Scranton.

OK, OK. This is by no means close to Scranton, but I had to include it! Before we got to see the real-life “The Office” locales, we stopped by the set for a quick photo while we were visiting LA .

And there you have it! While I wouldn’t recommend driving cross-country just to visit these spots, if you’re in the Poconos or surrounding area for a long weekend, add an afternoon in Scranton to your list.

If you can squeeze it in, you won’t regret it…

In the episode that Jim purchased his parents house for him & Pam without her knowing…. In the yard was the real estate sign for the reality company I worked for at that time. They really went out if their way to make the show feel authentic. And we all in the area would be like “oooh snap they just mentioned ” 😁

Wow! That’s so cool!! I love all the little details that went into making the show feel like it really was filmed in Scranton.

My family owns coopers and my Dad and uncles were really excited when they were approached about shooting for an episode at our restaurant. I took the day off from my job and sat at the bar from morning until night hoping to make into a background shot because we didn’t know if they were going to do interior or exterior shots. I found out they had come and gone after shooting only exterior shots, and I needed a ride home after sitting at the bar for 8 hours on a weekday. It was really cool to see my family’s restaurant on national TV, but unfortunately ticket to stardom didn’t come through.

That’s so awesome! Wow, what a legacy! Too bad you weren’t featured, but it makes for a great story 😄 Have you guys noticed an increase in business because of the show? I’m always so curious about that. Also, I just want to say that we LOVED the gift shop!

I love this!! I live in central Indiana, and I am going to my graduation commencement at SNHU this May. We are driving so I reserved an overnight stay at Scranton on the way to Boston. We won’t have too much time there, but we are hitting up a lot of these locations on this article. Thank you!

That’s awesome!! I’m thrilled the article was helpful 🙂 An overnight stay should give you plenty of time to check out all these must-sees. But if you have to prioritize, I would say definitely go to Alfredo’s for pizza (ask the staff at the front desk if you can take a picture holding the “original” Alfredo’s pizza box!), snap some pictures of the Penn Paper tower, then check out the gift shop at Cooper’s. Have fun!!

What is The Office Experience?

The Office television show is a beloved American sitcom series that depicts the everyday work lives of office employees at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company located in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The Office aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013, spanning a total of nine seasons. Reruns can be watched on TV , bought online, or purchased via DVD.

The Office Experience (created with The Office fans in mind!) is an interactive walk-through of the show’s re-created sets and features 17 rooms filled with original costumes and props.

Here, visitors can walk through the Dunder Mifflin set and Schrute Farms, as well as engage with the set via photo-ops, office games (Dunderball, anyone?) , and other interactive components.

Our favorite interactive experiences at The Office Experience include:

  • Listening to the character’s voices on phone message left on the office phones
  • Opening the break room refridgerator and drawers to find silly suprises
  • Reading lines from cue cards to reinact scenes from the show
  • Completeing life-sized versions of Stanley’s crossword puzzles
  • Lifting the beets at Schrute’s Farm to hear character voice-overs

Where is The Office Experience located?

The Office Experience is a pop-up attraction that is currently debuting in Chicago but will tour to other U.S. locations in the future.

Where you’re a Chicago local or are in town to visit Millenium Park, take in a sporting event, visit one of the many attractions at Chicago’s Navy Pier , or simply feast on famous Chicago Food , The Office Experience tops one of the best things to do in Chicago.

Conveniently located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, The Office Experience is housed in a large two-story building that can be easily identified by large, “The Office Experience” signs found on its exterior.

The exact address is 540 N Michigan Ave., found on the corner of N Michigan Avenue and E Ohio Street, across from Pandora Jewelry.

Due to its central downtown location, The Office Experience can easily be visited (and walked to) during any Chicago itinerary , including when you’re visiting Chicago in winter .

The Office Experience Tickets

Tickets to The Office Experience can be purchased online at  www.theofficeexperience.com . (Private access tickets, as well as corporate and private rentals, are also available.)

You can purchase timed entry tickets starting at $37.50 for off-peak times and $45.00 for peak times, plus taxes and fees.

Tickets that include a customized, souvenir employee badge start at $47.50 for off-peak times and $55.00 for peak times, plus taxes and fees.

Children 3 and younger don’t need a ticket when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Additional planning tip: Peak ticket times are all-day on weekends, holidays, and non-holiday weekdays from 5 PM onwards. Off-Peak ticket times are non-holiday weekdays before 5 PM.

Are tickets to The Office worth it?

If you’re a The Office fan and are familiar with the show, we feel that the ticket price is well worth the fun and enjoyment that you get from this experience.

Even our kids, ages 10, 13, and 15 loved this experience and the fact that they got to i.e. sit at Michael’s desk, play their own game of Dunderball, and take photos with memorable props from the show.

We spent 60 minutes walking around the sets, and another 15 minutes in the gift shop.

Honestly, we were laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire time!

If you’re not a fan of The Office or have never seen the show before, this experience may not be for you.

Find out what to expect when visitingThe Office Experience tour, from top US family travel blog, Travel With A Plan!

What Do You Do at The Office Experience?

Upon entering the doors to The Office Experience, you must show a valid ticket and vaccine card for everyone in your party.

Next, you make your way through a bag check area and can store your belongings at coat-check if desired. It is in this area is where you’ll also find a gift shop if you’d like to purchase a The Office Experience T-shirt or souvenir.

Upon taking the escalator upstairs, groups are organized according to their ticketed arrival times to start their progression through the 17 exhibit rooms.

The experience starts in a re-creation of the business park’s parking lot and progresses to Pam’s desk, the main office, Michael’s office, the breakroom, Ryan’s closet, the wedding chapel, and the Dwight Schute’s farm, just to name a few.

You can spend as much or as little time in each room as you would like reading signs, viewing props, taking photos, and interacting with the exhibits.

Guests can move about at their own pace and the atmosphere is very relaxed and accommodating.

Something fun to note is there are specific photo-op areas with picture-perfect lighting where The Office Experience staff are stationed to take a photo for you (from your own camera or phone).

We love this feature as our entire family was able to be in the photos, which usually doesn’t happen.

Definitely would recommend it to any Office fan! A great experience, well worth it!

Thoroughly enjoyed it! They really did a lot with this exhibit, just when I thought I was at the end there was more to do and see, it was great!

My wife and I had a blast re-enacting scenes from our favorite show. The staff were great and we would definitely recommend.

Very organized, super friendly and helpful staff. Nicely interactive. Great experience.

Staff were friendly. Loved this experience! Will recommend to my friends. Thanks!

It was a nice experience I really liked the main office area it looked exactly like the office show layout. The dancing down the aisle for the wedding episode set up was a fun and a unique experience.

How to Visit Real Life Locations from The Office

Locations from The Office

NBC’s “The Office” put Scranton on the map. Now super fans of the long-running comedy can visit real life locations from “The Office on a self-guided walking tour. Stay at Hotel Anthracite and take the 15-mile drive to the Electric City to see the sites made famous on “The Office.” Remember to get our free Northeastern Pennsylvania Destination Guide to make getting around the area a breeze.

No Party Like It

The Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau created the tour to visit real life locations from “The Office.” You can download the map and park your car and travel by foot to see 19 points of interest in downtown Scranton. Pennsylvania Paper and Supply Company stood in for Dunder Mifflin during the opening credits of every episode. The building, and its iconic tower, are a must-see on the tour. Poor Richard’s Pub was a popular hangout for Jim, Pam and the whole office crew. Check out the real-life location on Beech Street. Fans know pizza from Alfredo’s was the preferred lunch at Dunder Mifflin. Stop in Alfredo’s Pizza Café on Washington Ave and order a slice. Cooper’s Seafood House was mentioned many times during the show’s seven-year run. Exterior shots of the Scranton landmark were featured in “The Office,” but be sure to go inside. The gift shop offers a large selection of merchandise from “The Office” plus lots of pop culture memorabilia.

Picture Yourself Here

Locations from The Office

Photo ops abound when you visit real life locations from “The Office.” The Scranton Welcomes You Sign featured during the opening credits was moved to The Marketplace at Steamtown (Steamtown Mall on the show). Visit the second floor of the shopping mall to get a photo in front of the famous sign. Although not depicted on TV, the giant Dwight Schrute mural is a must-see for any fan. Located on the side of On & On , an antique store, the site is a popular destination for visitors to snap a pic with the often put-upon character. A life-sized Dundie Award sits in the lobby at Scranton City Hall . Peacock, the streaming service and exclusive home of “The Office,” gifted the award to the city in 2021 citing it as “Best Hometown of The Office.”

See the Sites

You can also visit real life locations from “The Office” outside of downtown Scranton. The Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour , Anthracite Heritage Museum and Houdini Museum are actual attractions you can tour in Lackawanna County. Lake Scranton was the location of the infamous “Beach Games” in a season three episode. There’s not a beach, but you can park your car and take the scenic 3.5-mile walking trail around the lake. Fans will also remember the Booze Cruise episode, which takes place at Lake Wallenpaupack. Located in Wayne and Pike Counties, the lake is a popular spot for vacations and day trips. Hotel Anthracite’s sister property, Silver Birches , is located along the 52-mile shoreline. You can make reservations to stay overnight or enjoy lunch or dinner at the resort’s restaurant, The Dock on Wallenpaupack overlooking the water.

Stay Tuned for More

Our own hometown, Carbondale, popped up a few times in episodes of “The Office.” Although not depicted, it’s mentioned on several occasions. When staying over at Hotel Anthracite, plan on checking out Northeast PA’s place in TV history. You may not see Michael, Pam or Jim, but you can walk in the places that inspired a pop-culture classic. Check availability and book your stay to visit real life locations from “The Office.”

I’m almost glad there isn’t one to meet Krasinski, my bank account would get thoroughly drained.

YAAAY! I won Brian’s set visit!!! I can’t wait!

[from tanster: awesome, lindsay! i’m so excited for you! :) ]

Have they always included this disclaimer with the set visit auctions?

“If production of “The Office” is cancelled prior to the Winner’s set visit, NBC Universal (NBCU) will make reasonable efforts to provide a set visit to the winner and one (1) guest on another NBCU show filmed in Los Angeles, California”

It’s kind of foreboding.

I would absolutely love this! I am so jealous Lindsay!! But, I know I can’t afford to bid, but whoever wins, if they want to take me, I would forever owe them! ;)

Aah if I had a spare few grand and lived in America, and didn’t have university studies….I would definitely do this! Would be amazing to meet Ed Helms and tour the set of my fave show! All the best to whoever scores this!

I totally get that this is something nice to do for charity…but can they please do a regular drawing or contest in addition to this for longtime fans of the show who don’t have $5,000 to give away!!

It is kind of hard to resist a “beet filled visit”.

yeah I wish I had that kind of money but I don’t. I guess I will have to live vicariously through the person that wins until I win the lottery.

There was a set visit lottery last year, I believe.

And yes, there has always been that disclaimer on the auction. It’s just to CNBC’sA.

Hopefully the show is still shooting by the time I can afford this!

Wait a second… I have a credit card! :-P

Thank you Officetally.com! I have been a big fan of the show since season 1 and a big fan of this website for about six years :) If it hadn’t been for you all I wouldn’t have known about this auction. Thanks Tanster for providing such a wonderful website for Office fans. I am beside myself in excitement over this set visit. Any advice haha?!

[from tanster: that’s awesome, congratulations!]

Do they do this very often? If they do I am totally betting for the one with a set visit with DA NARD DOG !!

Anyone notice that “Sunday” picture on the auction site has been re-edited to take out Cody Horn and Gabe?

dang it. this is going to be expensive….

This is too exciting; I can’t take it! Also, to Tanster, if it’s being offered by John, does that mean we are guaranteed contact with him?

[from tanster: it’s never guaranteed, but the cast is always great about coming out and meeting the winner!]

Do you think my fiance would be upset if I postponed the wedding so I can bid our savings to meet John Krasinski? I mean I would totally take him along as my guest :P

“Anyone notice that “Sunday” picture on the auction site has been re-edited to take out Cody Horn and Gabe?”

Nice catch. Ryan and Kelly have been moved over to occupy that space. I wonder what it means for Gabe?

I’m bidding on this. I knew if one ever came up where there was a chance of meeting John, i wouldn’t be able to hold back. I’m going to have to set a limit though or things could get crazy lol.

man, this would be a dream to get. i would be so starstruck to see the set and actors from my favorite tv show of all time. it would be so surreal. hats off to whoever wins this, as they shall be crowned the ultimate office fan. this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity here.

Pretty sure I just won this :D, gonna be my wedding gift to my fiancee.. we are both huge office fans and this’ll be awesome :D

Haven’t checked up on this in a while but congratulations man! Hope you and your fiancee have a splendid time! You guys are so lucky.

So we definitely did win this, paid for and all… I’ll let you know how she reacts after I tell her on our wedding day (end of the month) — we’ve also got a team of videographers with each of us during the day, so it’ll all be captured on film too, I’ll share it when we get the film back too, should be awesome :D

so excited! wonder when they’ll have us down…

With the set visits, how is the date decided? I live on the other side of the world and would love to win one of these but don’t want to bid and find out it’s long before or after my trip to the US.

How come you have to be 18 or older to go? I’ve always dreamed about visiting the set of The Office and I would really love to meet Jenna.

Funny they’re using promo photos of Steve to “sell” this. You’d think they could’ve gotten something more recent…

So, they’re starting this one at $2500? Bold move.

These visits are worth it. I won Jenna’s auction in 2010 and it was an amazing day. Everyone was so nice, and everyone (except a certain JK was unavailable to chat.)

I don’t think they started at $2500. There is only one bid but it’s at that price so they had to start lower. I think people are skeptical to bid on a show that hasn’t been renewed yet. You aren’t guaranteed anything if the show is no longer in production.

I’m pretty sure $2500 was the opening price because why would anyone bid higher than that? I followed the auction to the close and that was the sole bid.

Miami University, Ohio

Why can’t the contest be open to Canadians too?? We also LOVE and SUPPORT The Office! :)

So the auction page says no one under 18…does this mean under 18 year-olds cannot visit set or they simply cannot bid in the auction? Seems odd that an age restriction would be put in place.

‘The Office’ Follow-Up Series: Everything We Know So Far

Though there’s no guarantee we’ll see another version of ‘The Office,’ a recent announcement has fans feeling pretty good about their chances.

By Matt Prigge | Apr 22, 2024

Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski in ‘The Office.‘

The Office -verse could be about to get even bigger. Earlier this year, Deadline reported that Greg Daniels, the producer responsible for Americanizing Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s beloved original British series The Office , had opened up a development room for a potential follow-up series.

Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are ready to make it happen.

Domhnall gleeson and sabrina impacciatore are attached to star., it has yet to settle on a network or streamer., it’s unlikely you’ll see any of the nbc show’s characters., the office castmates have reunited on other projects..

It won’t be the reunion that die-hards have long been hoping for, though. Instead, it will take place in the same universe as Dunder Mifflin and is being pitched as a follow-up series. There aren’t many details yet, but the series is already beginning coming together. Here’s what we know so far.

Greg Daniels

Per Variety , Daniels, who also co-created King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation (itself very The Office -esque), has teamed up with Michael Korman, who will help him lead the project. Korman’s credits include writing for Late Night with Conan O’Brien and co-creating Nathan for You along with Nathan Fielder . Koman is also married to The Office alum Ellie Kemper , who played endearingly innocent receptionist Erin Hannon beginning in season 5.

Domhnall Gleeson

On April 19, The Hollywood Reporter claimed the follow-up series has named two cast members: The White Lotus ’s Sabrina Impacciatore and Star Wars villain Domhnall Gleeson . It’s unclear who they’ll be playing, but given that they’re Italian and Irish, respectively, it suggests the show might not take place anywhere near Scranton, Pennsylvania. (Though that’s just a guess.) Daniels and Korman are reportedly casting a ”wide net” for the show’s stars and hope to lock down a full cast by the second half of this year.

Sabrina Impacciatore

Impacciatore appeared on the Sicily-set second season of The White Lotus , playing Valentina, the resort’s tightly wound manager, who has an unrequited crush on one of her staffers. Her work garnered her an Emmy nomination, which she lost to her costar Jennifer Coolidge . A graduate of New York’s legendary Actors Studio, Impacciatore also appeared in the 2001 Italian film The Last Kiss (which Tony Goldwyn remade into a Zach Braff movie of the same name in 2006) and The Passion of the Christ .

Gleeson, the son of beloved character actor Brendan Gleeson ( Gangs of New York , The Banshees of Inisherin ), has appeared alongside his father in the Harry Potter series, playing Bill Weasley in the last two films. After nabbing the lead in Richard Curtis’s About Time , he scored plum roles in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken , Ex Machina , Brooklyn, and The Revenant . Gleeson is perhaps best known as hissable, oft-humiliated General Hux in the most recent Star Wars trilogy. He recently received an Emmy nomination for the FX series The Patient .

While the American iteration of The Office lives on Peacock (and plays pretty much constantly on cable), its follow-up has yet to find a home. Per THR , both Daniels and Universal Television “want to make sure the take is right before setting it up at a network/streamer.”

The cast and creators of 'The Office' at the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The U.S. Office gang has frequently reunited off-screen, and Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey have been co-hosting the Office Ladies podcast since 2019. Alas, an onscreen reunion seems to be unlikely, in part because Michael Scott himself, Steve Carell , doesn’t seem into the idea—or at least that’s how he felt in 2018 . Carell, though, did recently work with John Krasinski , the erstwhile Jim Halpert , for the forthcoming film IF .

That said, six members of the Dunder Mifflin team—Rainn Wilson, Craig Robinson, Jenna Fischer, Creed Bratton, Kate Flannery, and Brian Baumgartner— got back together for a lengthy new AT&T Business ad. The spot is for Wilson’s new line of luxury pillows, called “Dream with Rainn,” which feature an embedded speaker that allows the actor to lull one to sleep with his gentle patter. You can watch the ad above.

The new spin-off series set in the same universe as The Office has reportedly landed its first cast members.

Greg Daniels, the screenwriter and producer who adapted Ricky Gervais’s famous Slough-based sitcom for US television, is working on a follow-up with Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say that the new cast will be led by Sabrina Impacciatore, who played resort manager Valentina in the second season of The White Lotus , and Domhnall Gleeson , perhaps best known as General Armitage Hux in the Star Wars films The Force Awakens , The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

It has previously been reported that the mockumentary series will likely be set in a new office with new characters, but would live within the same world as the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.

The mooted follow-up to The Office US , which continues to be a huge draw on streaming, is being developed for Universal Television but has yet to receive a green light.

Daniels approached Koman thanks to his previous work on the docu-reality Comedy Central series Nathan For You , which he co-created with star Nathan Fielder, and saw Fielder attempt to help struggling companies.

Koman’s other writing credits include Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. In 2012, he married actor Ellie Kemper, who played naive receptionist Erin Hannon on The Office from the show’s fifth season onwards.

Last September, it was reported that Daniels was looking to reboot or revamp The Office .

Centring on a paper and stationery supplies wholesale company in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the US version of The Office ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013.

Steve Carell was The Office ’s main star for its first seven seasons, playing the company’s socially awkward but endearing boss, Michael Scott. Other major characters included sales executive Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), receptionist Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) and office disciplinarian Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson).

In 2018, a Nielsen report revealed that Netflix subscribers clocked up more minutes watching The Office than any other TV show.

Daniels has previously hinted at bringing the show back, but in an updated form rather than having the actors reprising the same roles.

“I think it would just be sort of like an extension of the universe, you know what I mean, like the way [ The ] Mandalorian is like an extension of Star Wars. But I don’t know if that would be something people would want or not, it’s hard to tell.”

In February this year, Dakota Johnson recalled the “weird dynamics” on the set of The Office finale, saying: “No one wanted to talk to me.”

Domhnall Gleeson Sabrina Impacciatore

The new iteration of “ The Office ” currently in development has started to flesh out its cast.

Variety has confirmed with sources that Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson are attached to the project, which remain in development at Universal Television. They would occupy two roles in what would be an ensemble cast, like the original versions of the show.

Reps for UTV declined to comment.

Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are co-creating the new series. It has previously been reported that it is not a reboot of “The Office” but is set in the same universe, meaning it would likely be set in a different office setting with all new characters.

Impacciatore picked up an Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a drama for her role in Season 2 of HBO’s critically acclaimed series “The White Lotus.” She is primarily known for her work in Italian films like “Napoleon and Me” and “Miss F,” though she did also appear in Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ.”

She is repped by Gersh, MGMT and Gianni Chiffi.

Daniels opened a writers’ room in January 2024 to begin working on the new iteration of the hit NBC mockumentary sitcom, which ran from 2005 to 2013 and was adapted from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s British series of the same name. The American “Office” took place in Scranton, Penn., and followed the staff of a paper company. It starred Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak, among others.

Lawmakers set to tackle ‘funflation’ as Taylor Swift tour puts spotlight on growing entertainment costs

(CNN) - Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which dropped on Friday, became the most-streamed album on its first day across Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music.

The superstar continues to break record after record. Last summer’s “Eras” tour was the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. Swift’s live success, along with Beyonce’s blockbuster tour, jolted the entire U.S. economy, but fans willing to shell out big bucks to be a part of the magic were plagued by ticketing troubles and inflation.

“This is a significant amount of spending that people are still funneling towards entertainment and concerts,” said Elizabeth Renter, data analyst for NerdWallet.

The phenomenon of “funflation” is raising red flags in Washington.

The U.S. Justice Department is planning to sue Live Nation & Entertainment, the country’s largest concert promoter and parent company of Ticketmaster, for breaking America’s antitrust laws, according to reporting from the Wall Street Journal that cited anonymous sources familiar with the DOJ’s plans.

“It’s impossible for a consumer to tell what’s going into these ticket prices,” said Kase Wickman, Vanity Fair contributor. “It’s really frustrating on the consumer side and also feels unfair.”

For its part, Ticketmaster has defended its practices, arguing before Congress last year that it doesn’t set ticket prices or determine how many seats go up for sale.

“Pricing and distribution strategies are determined by the artists and their teams. Service fees, even if they’re called ticketing fees, are retained mainly by the venues,” said Joe Berchtold, president and CFO of Live Nation & Entertainment.

Yet, despite consumer anger over exorbitant fees when buying online, the concert-going craze isn’t over.

“People have rethought how they prioritize what they spend their money on and that we’re going to see continued spending on experiences rather than just stuff,” Renter said.
