1. Tashkent: A modern metropolis, Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan. Strolling through this beautiful amalgamation of contemporary business and medieval buildings, one can see the city’s history come to life.

As the largest city in Central Asia, it prides itself on being the first and only city with a metro in this region. At an elevation of 450 to 480 meters, the city houses some of the breathtaking mausoleums and main attractions like the Khast Imam, The Minor Mosque, The Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral, to name a few.

2. Samarkand: Samarkand blossoms into an array of culture and tradition as it dates back to being conquered and ruled by various kings and dynasties, couple of them being Amir Temur and Alexander the great.

The splashes of diverse culture on the city are visible in the various historical monuments like Registan and The Cathedral Mosque of Tamerlane, Bibi-Khanum. And is listed as “Samarkand – Crossroads of Cultures” by the UNESCO World Heritage.

3. Bukhara: Uzbekistan, a mouthful tongue twister, is an exotic former Soviet republic country, steeped in tradition and dotted with Turkish-Persian Architectural wonders. Bukhara also called ‘The City of Museums’ contains more than 140 architectural monuments of the Middle Ages and is under the umbrella of UNESCO World Heritage.

4. Khiva: Gazing down from Islam Khoja minaret (the city wall), you are transported back to the medieval Turkic era. The city has beautiful clay buildings with 51 monuments, Ancient caravanserais and baths, Kunya-Ark fortress, Dishan-Kala fortress.

It exudes the air of being an open museum, which could be one reason for Khiva to be the first city listed under the UNESCO World Heritage site in Uzbekistan. The city is the birthplace of scholar AI-Khoresmi, the father of algebra. It is fascinating that in this historic museum-city, around 250 households live and work.

5. Shakhrisabz: Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of conqueror Amir Temur (Timurid), displays the remarkable Timurid architecture in the design of the white summer palace. Shakhrisabz, when translated means ‘Green city’, is 80 km from Samarkand.

With the ruins of Ak-Saray Palace, one can also witness other attractions that the place offers like, the mausoleums of Dor-us Saodat, Gumbaz-Sayidan, the Kok-Gumbaz mosque and so on. The open Uzbek highway (The main highway) passes through Shakhrisabz, the same one that traces Marco Polo’s route. A traveler could retrace the history in these lands.

6. Karakalpakstan: In the northwestern end of Uzbekistan lies Karakalpakstan, which is an autonomous republic within Uzbekistan. Occupying the most extensive part of Uzbekistan, the Karakalpakstan region consists of the Ustyurt plateau, Kyzylkum Desert and the Aral Sea. The legendary Savitsky Museum is also known as the “Louvre in the desert”, and is also located in this region.

A stark reality of resource misuse is seen in the Aral Sea region of Karakalpakstan, once a flourishing fishing town is now just a corpse of its old self due to the rapid shrinking of the Aral Sea. A great lesson on economic usage can be spotted by tourists when visiting this place.

7. Fergana Valley: The crossroad between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the Fergana Valley is home to different religions, cultures, and nations. As travelers you can see the fine differences in the architecture too. In the Medieval times, this valley was a stop on the silk road to Andijan, Kokand, Fergana and Namangan. Fergana Valley was the birthplace of the founder of the Mughal Empire, Babur. The valley still maintains its tradition of silk production and pottery.

8. Chimgan: Located in the Bostanlyk administrative district of Uzbekistan, the Greater Chimgan rises at 3309 m above sea level and stands at the height of 2097 m. It is the best destination for ecotourism as there are recreation areas in the Chimgan valley for tourists. Learn about the history of handicrafts in Uzbekistan State Museum of Applied Art: Founded in 1937, the State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan is a decorative art museum with over 4,000 including ceramics, gold weaving, wood carving, embossing, embroidery and jewellery. It’s one among those museums where the building is an art form on its own.

4. Embark upon the splendid site of a medieval street of Shah-i-Zinda: An avenue of mausoleums, these tombs have one of the most vibrant Timurid-era tilework that dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries. The Necropolis complex consists of eleven mausoleums and built-in rows of sparkling blue coloured tiles. Connecting to this splendid medieval street avenue is a legend that Qusam ibn-Abbas, a cousin of Prophet Mohammed, is buried in the holiest innermost shrine and, the name Shah-i-Zinda meaning Living King, finds its origin.

5. Be awestruck by this majestic building, Great Minaret of the Kalon: A masterpiece of 47m tall with 10m-deep foundations, the Great Minaret of the Kalon has stood for almost nine centuries. The use of glazed blue tiles was done for the first time on the Kalon’s 14 ornamental bands. It marks the centre of gravity for Bukhara. There is an inscription on three bands with the date of construction – 1127, names of architect – Usto (master) Bako and ruler – Arslan Khan.

6. Get inspired by this ancient city centre, Registan: In the medieval era of Samarkand, Registan was the heart of the city. The public square is framed by three Islamic schools (Madrasahs) called Ulugh Beg Madrasah, Sher-Dor Madrasah and Tilya-Kori Madrasah.

7. Try the healing of the land in Khodja Ikon salt cave: Opened in 1989, Khodjaikon salt cave provided services equivalent to sanatorium-resort treatment. But it is best known for its healing treatment called speleotherapy inside the salt cave. For patients with chronic bronchitis, asthma, skin diseases and respiratory diseases, it provides 3 treatment rooms that differ in humidity, temperature, pressure and trace elements. The cave length is 155 m and is located at an altitude of 1200 m. The strength of this cave lies in its dry climate.

5. Cafe Dudek: You could sample the local food in style by opting to dine at the Cafe Dudek terrace restaurant in Tashkent. This microbrewery also serves their own sausages, that is sumptuous at its best.

I enjoyed my time visiting Uzbekistan. Odil from Steppe Journeys was professional and helpful. While each destination is guided by a different tour guide, I found all of them quite knowledgeable and hospitable. Most of the tour itinerary is well balanced and leaves plenty of free time to explore, shop, or enjoy the local cuisine. Be sure to ask your guide about their restaurant and food recommendations, especially in Samarkand! Accommodations were also quite comfortable and clean with sufficient Wi-Fi access. I was somewhat disappointed that the Tashkent city tour did not have a concrete itinerary and so my group had somehow missed visiting the metro station during the scheduled tour time; Odil later rectified this by giving me a private tour and the rest of the group an opportunity to do the same. I also personally had some trouble with booking errors: one of my train tickets had the wrong passenger name and needed help from our driver to smooth over with the security checkpoint. Loved the Uzbekistan tour! It was well organized, and the tour group size was just right. Lochin Juraev was an excellent guide and we had a wonderful experience visiting Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva to learn about the rich history of the country. Some suggestions: The hotel choices were good to excellent, and were located well. The madrasa stay in Khiva, while interesting to experience, had tight quarters for two people. We enjoyed the food and the marvelous fruit/produce. We did note that the food choices are somewhat limited for people who are vegetarians. A quicker way to get to either Bukhara or Khiva (rather than via long bus rides) would have given us more time in these two historical gems. Also, allocation of some down time to wander around in the historical areas/ do shopping would enhance the overall experience!

A great mix of Silk Road splendours with rural retreat. Our guide Jamshed was superb and greatly facilitated our group’s interaction with the people, places and cultures we encountered. Samarkand was a dream come true and Bukhara a surprise highlight. Our group strongly recommend the hammam visit as a great bonding experience and u can’t go past a bottle of Shtoff vodka for the price of a beer!

Since my interactions with Normund, Essoza in 2020 (trip cancelled due to Covid), I have been dealing with Husnora. This company employs the best people, courteous, prompt in responses and go beyond there normal expectations. Firstly, the country is just opening back to tourism and on line info is not accurate or up to date. Additionally, English is not common at all. Thus, engaging a travel agency is a must. There was not enough people signed up for a group tour so Husnora organized a private 10 day tour for me. Although more expensive, in hindsight, was the best thing happened to me. Husnora also arranged train tickets and hotel reservations for me in Andijan which were not part of the tour. This is going beyond the call. Uzbekistan Cultural Adventure Tour

Excellent tour. The itinerary is a good balance, which is the main reason we chose this tour - it covers the historic cities and has a break in the middle for a desert/mountain trip with yurt and homestay. We did this as a family of 4, and it was just us on our tour, for the same price per person as the listed group tour. We had 2 main drivers to cover our trip, and a different guide in each place to show us round, plus some free time during which we saw a couple of things not included in the city tours. On this trip most meals are not provided, but we had no trouble finding veggie food in the cities (in the tourist areas at least), and veggie meals were provided for us at the yurt and homestay. Uzbekistan is a stunning place and people are so friendly. I'd have liked longer in the Ulugh Beg museum in Samarkand, but that's all I can think of. Thanks Sherzod for organising everything.

A WONDERFUL COUNTRY WITH MANY SPENDORS... BUT BE PREPARED TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON THE BUS IF YOU TAKE THIS TOUR Uzbekistan is fabulous and there are so many great things to see. The guide for this tour (Kamila) was very kind and competent. The accomodation was fine. The itinerary was standard. While the driver was excellent, a lot of time was spent on the bus. In retrospect, I wish I had had the confidence to travel independently using planes and trains.

Javlon and Shaxnoza were great english speaking guides. Enjoyed all the historic sites and had excellent accommodations while staying in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. A suggestion for future tours is to provide an option when visiting Samarkand and Bukhara- instead of 2 days in each places, each places can be viewed in a day. We had lot of free time and besides walking nearby the hotel there was not much more to explore in these cities. Thanks Odil for your team in providing a wonderful experience

Almaty (2 nights).

Mumbai to Mumbai tour guests will report at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai as per the scheduled flight departure time and proceed to Almaty- Kazakhstan's largest metropolis, set in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. Joining and Leaving tour guests will join the group on their own at the designated place or hotel. Today we explore Almaty city, we see Republic Square - is the heart of Almaty, where the main festivities, events and demonstrations are held, Monument of independence - The monument is dedicated to the Republic of Kazakhstan’s rich history, from the time of Queen Tomiris to the present day, Astana square- the second largest square in Kazakhstan, after Republic Square. Later we visit to oldest Almaty park- one of the most popular parks in Almaty, here we see Zenkov cathedral - the cathedral is made out of wood but without nails. Its height is 56 meters tall, and is claimed to be the second tallest wooden building in the world, we then visit Rakhat chocolate Outlet- the most famous Kazakhstan brand of chocolates. Here you can smell the cocoa fragrance from a hundred metres away. Further we have some free time for shopping at Green bazaar.

Almaty – Medeo and Chimbulk Mountain – Almaty

Today we proceed to Medeo Gorge - a picturesque valley. Here we visit the huge Medeo dam that protects the city from destructive mudflows formed on the tops of the western Tian Shan Mountains. Later we take a cable car ride to Chimbulak ski resort- the largest ski resort in Central Asia. Further we visit the top of Kok-Tobe hill, where we enjoy unforgettable panorama of Almaty from the observation desk, we also see TV tower Almaty. Further we walk along the winding paths of the Kok-Tobe Park, and come across ‘The Beatles’ monument devoted to the popular Liverpool band.

Today we proceed to Bishkek- a captivating destination in Kyrgyzstan that offers a wealth of cultural and historical attractions. Today evening we enjoy Belly dance show.

Bishkek – Ala Archa National Park– Bishkek

Today we visit Ala archa national park – an alpine national park in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Here walk through the forest, breathe pure mountain air filled with the aroma of the juniper tree and enjoy a gorgeous view of a stream of ice-cold water rushing down from snow-capped mountain peaks.

Bishkek – Tashkent (2 Nights)

Today we visit State Historical Museum - The architectural showpiece, formerly as the Lenin Museum. We then walk around Ala too square- Nestled in the heart of Bishkek, Ala-Too Square stands as a symbol of the city's vibrant culture and history. Further we fly to Tashkent – Capital and largest city of Uzbekistan.

Tashkent – Chimgan – Charwak – Tashkent

Today we visit Chimgan Mountains – part of Chatkal range of western Tian-Shan. Enroute we admire the beautiful road journey with picturesque surroundings of local villages, gardens, and streams. Upon arrival we take Chair Lift for going up to the top of the mountain. Later we visit Charwak Lake- Pearl of Tian Shan Mountains, which is formed by joining of 4 biggest rivers to the beautiful lake that’s supplies Tashkent city and its region with fresh water all year round.

Tashkent – Samarkand (1 Night)

Today we proceed to Samarkand by Train. Samarkand is situated in the valley of the river Zerafshan. It is the second largest city of Uzbekistan. Upon arrival we explore Samarkand city, we see Registan Square - one of the most beautiful squares in the world, Gur Emir Mausoleum - a mausoleum of the Asian conqueror Tamerlane and it occupies an important place in the history of Turko-Persian Architecture, Bibi Khanim Mosque - one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world, Rukhabad Mausoleum - one of the oldest historic buildings in the city. Later we have free time for shopping at Siyab market.

Samarkand – Tashkent (1 Night)

Today we visit to Afrasiab Museum of Samarkand- a unique archaeological monument dedicated to the history of the city, Ulugh Beg’s observatory- considered by scholars to have been one of the finest observatories in the Islamic world, Shah – i – Zinda Complex - the burial place of royal persons and nobles which include mausoleums and other ritual buildings. In the afternoon, we proceed back to Tashkent by train.

Today we explore Tashkent city. We visit Independence square - is located in the centre of Tashkent. The major state events and parades are held here on national holidays, Amir Temur square – a Historical place in Tashkent. Victory monument - used to be called Lenin square and was the place for celebrations of important days like Labour day or Victory day. Further we visit Barak khan madrasah - one of the most remarkable medieval architectural monuments. Further we visit Lal bahadur shastri memorial- the 2nd Prime Minister of India. who had left a track in the history of not only India, but also Tashkent. Memorial of Victims of Repressions- It honours those who suffered under Russian and Soviet colonial rule. Further we see Tashkent TV tower- It was the 3rd tallest tower in the world from 1985 to 1991, local ‘Broadway’. It’s time now to say goodbye, Phir Milenge! General Terms

• Please note that these packages are customizable, which means that you will be able to make changes to the itinerary/activity if you so desire. The final payment will be calculated as per the itinerary and inclusions reflected on the confirmatory e-mail sent to you.
• Please expect to receive your vouchers 72 hours before your departure date (subject to full payment of your package cost).
• Personal expenses such as laundry, telephone calls, room service, alcoholic beverages, mini bars etc., are not included.
• In case your package needs to be canceled due to any natural calamity, weather conditions etc. Dook Travels shall strive to give you the maximum possible refund subject to the agreement made with our trade partners/vendors.
• The passenger names in the booking form should be exactly as per passports. Dook Travels will not bear any liability for the name change fee, if incorrect names and ages have been added at the time of booking.
• Please note that your package includes baggage as per airlines policy. Any addition in baggage will be charged separately.
• Standard check-in time at the hotel is normally 2:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am. An early check-in, or a late check-out is solely based on the discretion of the hotel.
• In case the selected hotel is unavailable for booking, an alternate arrangement will be offered to the customer in another hotel of a similar category.
• Certain hotels may ask for a security deposit during check-in, which is refundable at check-out subject to the hotel policy.This amount has to be deposited by the traveler.
• Please note that Day at Leisure essentially implies that no sightseeing activities have been included for that day.
• Kindly be on time for your activities, tours and transfers. Dook Travels will not be liable for missing any activity thus for any refund against it in such cases.
• No refund either in part or in full will be made for any unused part of the services provided in the package.
• The package price doesn’t include special dinner or mandatory charges at times levied by the hotels especially during New Year and Christmas or any special occasions. Dook Travels shall try to communicate the same while booking the package. However Dook Travels may not have this information readily available all the time.
• Our package price does not include GST and TCS. Applicable GST and TCS will be charged over and above the package price.
• For queries regarding cancellations and refunds, please refer to our Cancellation Policy.
• For any paid activity which is non-operational due to any unforeseen reason, we will process the refund & should reach the guest within 30 days refund requisition. Also, for any activity which is complementary and not charged to Dook Travels & guests, no refund will be processed.
• Our package prices are on twin sharing accommodation basis thus published prices are applicable for minimum two persons and multiple of two thereon.
• As per RBI guideline every foreign traveler has to provide us his PAN details. The Dollar component of package price will be taken out of your BTQ (Basic Travel Quota).
• The tour cost does not include any Overseas Insurance Premium, but we strongly recommend buying Overseas Insurance Policy. The same after issuance is non refundable.
• These terms are general terms for our tour packages.Any term mentioned in proposal shall be considered part of it and in case of discrepancy term mentioned in proposal shall prevail.
• Disputes, if any, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi.

Payment Policy

• Payment schedule depends on destination, time of booking, inclusions, airline and hotel payment policy etc thus it is specific to your package bookining.
• Payment schedule will be part of our proposal to you for the package.
• If payment is not made as per the schedule provided in the first booking confirmation e-mail, Dook Travels reserves the right to cancel the booking after attempting to get in touch with you. Refunds would be as per the package cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy

• Once Booking received : INR 5000 (Per PAX) + actual Ticket cancellation + Hotel cancellation as per hotel policy+Visa fee if visa is applied.
• 60 – 45 Days prior to departure : 25 % of land cost + INR 5000 (Per PAX) + actual Ticket cancellation+Visa fee if visa is applied.
• 45 – 30 days prior to departure: 50% of land cost + INR 5000 (Per PAX) + actual Ticket cancellation+Visa fee if visa is applied.
• 30 – 10 days prior to departure: 75% of land cost + INR 5000 (Per PAX) + actual Ticket cancellation+Visa fee if visa is applied.
• Within 10 days: Full.
