Adam Levine Apologizes for 'Unprofessional' Concert In Chile After He Receives Backlash

The singer admitted that he struggled with the performance.

Adam Levine  is saying sorry to his fans in Chile.

The Maroon 5 frontman  took to his Instagram Story on Friday to apologize for his "unprofessional" behavior during the band's performance at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival the night before.

"I’d really like to address reactions to the concert and kind of explain myself because I feel like you guys deserve that," Levine explained in his video. "You know, being in a band you play a lot of shows and I am so passionate and excited about concerts and about being my best and about the band being our best, and being our best for you guys, honestly, you know. Performing I take so seriously. Sometimes too seriously.”

"And to be totally frank, there were some things holding me back sonically last night," he continued. "And I let them get to me, and it impacted how I was behaving on stage, which was unprofessional and I apologize for that."

He added that he always wants to be the best and represent the band in the best way. "I struggled a lot and sometimes it’s really hard for me to mask the struggle. For that, I did let you guys down and I apologize," he said, adding that it's "one show of many" and that they adore their fans in Chile.

“Last night wasn’t our best and, for that, all I can say is that I’m really sorry," he concluded.

According to CHV Noticias , Levine delivered "low energy" while on stage. In another video posted online , the 40-year-old singer sounds frustrated as he can be heard saying, "That was a TV show. That was not a concert.” Many fans in attendance took to social media to express their disappointment in the singer's performance or poke fun at him.

"I just saw #Maroon5 show in the latin festival and it was SO bad d**n, and then i saw how he insulted the organization and the city? Like what?? I feel bad for the latin people, he was so disrespectful," one person tweeted.

The band also performed in Santiago, Chile, on Friday night. The concert was well received by fans on social media.

Levine has been focusing on his music and touring with Maroon 5 since he left The Voice in May 2019 after 16 seasons.

Adam Levine Apologizes for Maroon 5’s ‘Unprofessional’ Concert in Chile: ‘I Let You Guys Down’

Bad day? Adam Levine apologized for his performance during Maroon 5’s concert at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile on Thursday, February 27, citing “technical problems.”

“I’d really like to address reactions to the concert, and kind of explain myself, because I feel like you guys deserve that,” the “Moves Like Jagger” singer, 40, said via his Instagram Story on Friday, February 28. “You know, being in a band, you play a lot of shows, and I am so passionate and excited about concerts, and about being my best and about the band being our best, and being our best for you guys, honestly, you know, performing I take so seriously. Sometimes too seriously.”

He added, “And to be totally frank, there were some things holding me back sonically last night, and I let them get to me, and it impacted how I was behaving on stage, which was unprofessional, and I apologize for that.”

Levine went on to share that the technical issues were hard for him because he wanted to “sound good.” The Grammy winner explained, “I struggled a lot. And sometimes it’s really hard for me to mask the struggle, and so in that, I did let you guys down and I apologize.”

CHV News reported on Thursday that Maroon 5 was late for their set causing TV presenters Maria Luisa Godoy and Martin Càracamo to “fill in for minutes that became eternal for those present.”

According to the Chilean outlet, Levine became frustrated when the audience sang along to Maroon 5’s hit song “She Will Be Loved” telling the crowd, “Well, if you want to do my job, go ahead.”

In a video filmed behind the scenes, Levine can be heard saying, “That was a TV show. That was not a concert.”

Fans weren’t pleased with the band’s performance and took to Twitter to slam the artist for being unprofessional.

“Lousy show in Viña del Mar guys.. haven’t seen such unprofessionalism in a good while,” one user penned via Twitter. “You should ask your fans for forgiveness… there are no excuses for doing such a poor job.”

Another disappointed fan wrote , “Love your music but your show in Viña del Mar was disrespectful to every fan who paid and waited to see you live. Very frustrating.”

Levine has been primarily focusing on Maroon 5 since he announced his departure from The Voice in May 2019 after a 16-season run. The band is currently on its 2020 Tour, which has stops throughout North and South America, until September 2020.

Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning and diamond-selling Maroon 5 have revealed the details for the next leg of their 2022 World Tour dates, produced by Live Nation.

Kicking off Saturday, July 30 at Moda Center in Portland, OR, these select dates will hit cities throughout Canada and North America, and conclude on Saturday, August 20 at Centre Bell in Montreal, Quebec.

A special Maroon 5 fan club pre-sale launches at 10am local time on April 26, while Spotify and LiveNation presales commence on April 27 at 10am local time followed by local presales on April 28 at 10 am local time. Tickets for the newly added shows go on sale to the public this Friday, April 29 at 10am local time.

In other Maroon 5 news this week, frontman Adam Levine returns to Ellen as a guest on April 26th.

Next week, Maroon 5 will touch down in Egypt for a monumental show at the Pyramids of Giza on May 3. A few days later on May 6, they headline Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabu, United Arab Emirates. To close out their Middle Eastern run, Maroon 5 jet over to Tel Aviv for two massive shows at Hayarkon Park. Their initial show on May 9 quickly sold out 60,000 tickets, and a second one on May 10 has been added.

2022 notably marks the 20th anniversary of Maroon 5’s formation and their classic quadruple-platinum debut, Songs About Jane , which initially arrived on June 25, 2002 and has since sold over 20 million records. During 2021, Maroon 5 made their triumphant return to the road in the U.S., performing 30 dates in front of over 450,000 fans over the summer.

Now, they’re continuing their 2022 World Tour. To date, the universally renowned Los Angeles band have achieved three GRAMMY Awards, over 80 million in album sales, 450 million singles worldwide and earned gold and platinum certifications in more than 35 countries.

Adam Levine was forced to cancel a Maroon 5 concert in Liverpool last night as his throat problem got escalated.

The 36-year-old singer revealed he had got a throat problem and was unable to perform on doctors orders, reported Daily Mirror.

“I am really sorry not to be able to perform tonight, but I have been told to rest up by the doctor. As a band we always want to give every performance our all and sadly I just cannot do that tonight,” he said in a statement.

A spokeswoman from the Arena confirmed to the Liverpool Echo there were already fans arriving at the arena for the long-awaited gig.

“We are sorry to announce that Maroon 5 have to cancel their show tonight in Liverpool at the Echo Area. Lead singer Adam Levine has been struck down with a throat problem and is unable to perform on doctors orders,” a statement read.

Maroon 5 canceled their show in Hartford, CT on Monday due to frontman Adam Levine's wife Behati Prinsloo's fast-approaching due date.

The 27-year-old model is on the final stretch of her pregnancy, due on Sept. 20.

Levine, 37, announced earlier this month that Maroon 5 would be rescheduling seven of their upcoming concert dates to prepare for the birth of his new baby.

"Sadly, it's par for the course with having a baby soon," he said in a video on Instagram. "It's life, and it's beautiful, but it can be complicated, and I apologize for any convenience."

Multi-platinum pop band Maroon 5 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album “Songs About Jane” with a summer tour that hits St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center on Aug. 13.

Tickets, at prices to be announced, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster.

Lead singer Adam Levine , guitarist Jesse Carmichael and the rhythm section of Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick formed the band Kara’s Flowers when they were still in high school. After self-releasing their debut album, the group landed a major-label deal in 1997. But when their album “The Fourth World” failed to find an audience, the guys left the label and went to college.

They reformed in 2001, with guitarist James Valentine added to the lineup, and renamed themselves Maroon 5. Their album “Songs About Jane” topped 5 million in sales and the band went on to score a string of radio hits including “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved” and “Sunday Morning.” Following up that success proved to be difficult, though, with the band making what looked like their final trip to the top 10 with the 2007 single “Makes Me Wonder.”

In 2011, Levin brought interest back to the group after he signed on as a judge on NBC’s “The Voice.” Maroon 5 returned to radio with 2011’s “Moves Like Jagger” and they have enjoyed a solid run of comeback smashes that include “Payphone,” “One More Night,” “Daylight,” “Love Somebody,” “Maps,” “Sugar,” “Don’t Wanna Know,” “What Lovers Do” and “Girls Like You.”

Last summer, Maroon 5 released their seventh album, “Jordi.” The lead single “Memories” went to No. 2, but its follow-ups struggled to find similar success.

"All ticketholders who purchased by credit card will automatically be refunded to their card within the next 30 days. Anyone who purchased by cash or check will be mailed a refund by check." 

The stop, which would have been the first at the arena for the Adam Levine-fronted group, was announced in April as one of 13 newly added North American dates set to begin July 30 and run through Aug. 20.

The touring page on the band's official website lists only two dates under its 2022 world tour: a festival July 9 in Quebec City, Quebec, and three days at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida Aug. 25-27. There is no announcement of a tour cancellation on the website or on the band's social media accounts.

Mix 95.7 FM is reporting Maroon 5's Aug. 17 concert at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has also been canceled.

Coming from the man who gave one of his kids the name Dusty Rose, there’s a new Levine baby name option in town, and this one comes with its own child-sized baggage. Singer Adam Levine is under fire after several women accused the (very married) Maroon 5 frontman of sending flirty direct messages — including one who claims Levine said he wants to name his new child after her. Here’s a complete-and-quick timeline of the events leading up to the alleged bonkers request.

The Sumner Stroh video – Monday afternoon

On Monday, Instagram model Sumner Stroh posted a TikTok video, claiming she had a months-long affair with Levine, which began over Instagram direct messages. Stroh didn’t say how the two broke off their dalliance but posted screenshots of alleged messages they traded. She also claimed that after months of not speaking, the singer slid into her DMs again, this time with a request.

Stroh called the interaction “hell,” saying her morals were “unknowingly compromised” during the alleged relationship — whatever that means.

“I was young. I was naive. Quite frankly I feel exploited,” Stoh said in her video. “I wasn’t in the scene like I am now so I was definitely very easily manipulated.”

Stroh said the only reason she posted the video was to get ahead of a tabloid story started by one of her former friends. Unfortunately, Monday’s slow news day quickly pushed Stroh’s video to the top of for-you-pages, with the firestorm moving directly into her comments. Since Monday, Stroh’s video has been viewed 17.6 million times.

One alleged message between Levine and Alyson was riddled with spelling errors and acknowledged that he shouldn’t be talking to her. Others referred to her as “hot.” Unlike Stroh’s video, Alyson was less clear about why she was revealing the messages now, instead saying she wanted other women with similar experiences to come forward.

“I feel really bad for his wife,” Alyson said. “Nobody deserves this.” Alongside her video, she used the hashtags #cancelled and #fyp.

When people in her comments began accusing her of using the situation to gain clout or lying about the DMs, she posted a screen recording of her Instagram messages, which included what appeared to be a voice memo from Levine.

At this point, things are likely not good in the Levine household. The story has already been published by multiple news outlets and Stroh has had enough time to make a follow-up video where she expresses all of the remorse she forgot to include in her OG clip.

“I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life,” he said. “In certain instances it became inappropriate. I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family. My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it and we will get through it together.”

Maroon 5's Adam Levine Explains Creeped-Out Reaction In Viral Concert Video Of Fan Rushing Him On Stage

She will be loved. She will be...removed from the stage by security.

Between his years of faux-feuding with Blake Shelton on The Voice and even more years of waxing falsetto as the frontman for Maroon 5, Adam Levine is used to dealing with smack-talking from fans and naysayers . Which is exactly the kind of reaction the pop rock star received after a video went viral from the band’s recent performance at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl, in which a fan rushed the stage and embraced Levine, prompting quite the specific reaction.

For anyone who might not have seen the increasingly shared concert video, you can check it out below, with Adam Levine’s most-discussed moment happening a little after the 3:30 mark. 

As the band was in the middle of performing their monster hit “Sunday Morning,” a woman suddenly got up on one side of the stage and grabbed an unsuspecting Adam Levine as he was in the middle of singing. Which is where the debate over his reaction begins. Though he doesn’t physically throw the woman off of him or anything, as soon as she’s taken away by security, Levine immediately reacts as if he just came out of a haunted house where he’d stuck his hand into what he thought was a bowl of meatballs posing as eyeballs, only to realize they were all actually eyeballs. Or, if that’s too much, like he walked through a spider’s web made out of ghosts.

It was clear that Adam Levine was quite put off by the moment, in that he also arbitrarily knocked down his microphone stand before jumping back into the performance. (Power to the band for keeping things going without interruption.) But those sharing the video online have made it sound as if Levine burned all of his clothes and then entered a decompression chamber at NASA after the incident. Considering we’re still in pandemic times, with live performances still serving as more of a novelty than an everyday event, it’s not that hard to understand why Levine was skeeved out by the interaction. 

Still, the Maroon 5 singer personally responded to everyone calling him out and saying he thinks he’s better than the fans. Taking to his Instagram Stories , Levine said: 

So I just wanted to address the Hollywood Bowl incident thing, a fan coming up to me on stage. I have always been someone that loves, respects, worships our fans. Without our fans we don't have a job; I say that all the time to our fans. To think that anyone would believe that I thought our fans were beneath us or less than us makes my stomach turn. That's just not who I am. That's not who I've ever been. So I just need you guys to know, I was really startled. And sometimes when you're startled you have to shake it off and move on, because I’m doing my job up there. And you know, it’s what I pride myself on, so I need to let you guys know what my heart is, and my heart is that connection that exists between the band performing on stage and the fans. I hope that we can all understand that.

Imagine if you were on the job doing paperwork, yardwork, physical tasks, etc., and some random person came around a corner and hugged you. Would that automatically spark a completely calm and leveled-out reaction? Or would you wonder WTF was happening, immediately assuming that person was carrying the plague? Okay, it would probably be somewhere in the middle of those two extremes, but still. Not that Levine is unfamiliar with surprising people who weren’t expecting it .

If anything, perhaps this will convince other risk-taking fans that it’s probably not worth running and surprising a celebrity you love with a hug, since that person could then act as if he or she was just touched by a walking-and-talking shit monster. Which probably isn’t good for the ego, or anything else.

Since his venture into television, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine has taken to the stage sans-band members to promote his onscreen ventures.

As part of American pop rock band Maroon 5, Levine has seen huge success with hits like This Love and more recently, Moves Like Jagger. Is now the perfect time for the unintentionally tattooed heartthrob to try it solo? His harmonious voice, extensive vocal range, and high falsetto make his presence on stage almost undeniable, making a solo endeavour completely possible. His stint as a judge on The Voice has opened the door for Levine to perform solo onstage, and his venture into film with Begin Again adds more independent offerings to his already packed repertoire of Maroon 5 albums and solo collaborations, notably his work on Kanye West’s Heard ‘Em Say. While his solo performances are currently almost non-existent– his last one was part of a promotional tour for The Voice– it’s not to say there isn’t potential for more. Maroon 5, Maren Morris to share Jones Beach stage this summer

Maroon 5, whose roots trace partly to frontman Adam Levine and guitarist Jesse Carmichael's semester at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, will play Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater on July 3 as part of a nine-date mini-tour between sessions of the rock band's Las Vegas residency.

Tickets for the Wantagh concert, with opening act Maren Morris, go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. at Maroon5.com .

Three-time Grammy Award winners Maroon 5 released their first No. 1 single, “Makes Me Wonder,” in 2007. The band eventually scored Diamond certifications, meaning 10 million units sold each, with the No. 1 singles “Moves Like Jagger” (2011), featuring Christina Aguilera, and “Girls Like You” (2018), featuring Cardi B. An additional No. 1 single, “One More Night” (2012) also went multiplatinum.

The band, whose most recent album, “Jordi,” came out in 2021, completed a 16-date Las Vegas residency at the Park MGM hotel-casino's Dolby Live theater in 2023. A second 16-date residency plays there May 17 to June 1 and Sept. 27 to Oct. 12 this year.

Country music/pop star Morris has earned 17 Grammy nominations, winning the award on her first nod with her Best Country Solo Performance single, “My Church” (2015). While she has played Manhattan venues regularly over the last few years, including Radio City Music Hall in 2019 and 2022, her sole recorded Long Island performance was Sept. 12, 2018, also at Jones Beach.

Sorry Liverpool fans, but you won't be belting your hearts out to "Sugar" tonight with Adam Levine while wishing he would come and put it down on you.

The Maroon 5 frontman had to unfortunately cancel their concert tonight at the Echo Arena due to throat problems. Levine took to Twitter to apologize to U.K. fans, writing , "Guys, I HATE having to let you down tonight. My cords [sic] are toast. We resume Sunday in Birmingham. Apologies. :("

He also previously released a statement explaining, "I am really sorry not to be able to perform tonight, but I have been told to rest up by the doctor. As a band we always want to give every performance our all and sadly I just cannot do that tonight."

The Echo Arena Liverpool also issued a statement to explain what ticket-holders can do in order to get a refund for their purchase. The venue advised people to return to their point of purchase in order to arrange a refund.

Echo Arena and TicketQuarter customers will be refunded via their credit card over the next few days, while customers who paid in cash will be able to receive a refund in person from TicketQuarter in Queen Square on Monday.

Maroon 5 recently wrapped a sold out 30-city North American arena tour in April, and just kicked off the European leg of their world tour in Paris on May 24 at Zenith Paris.

Levine is keeping the rock star inside of him alive during this down time, though. His wife Behati Prinsloo (who recently changed her name to Behati Prinsloo Levine on Instagram, and seems to be accompanying her love on the tour) posted a photo of her hubby on IG today, showing the celeb rocking a KISS -inspired wig—and flaunting some chest—while pretending to sing his heart out.

"Feelin this.....," she wrote. Yeah, us, too.

Adam Levine isn't putting down the mic while he's in hot water over a DM mess -- he's still stepping into the spotlight on stage ... TMZ has learned.

Sources with direct knowledge tell us ... the singer is still scheduled to perform early next month with his band, Maroon 5, at The Shaquille O'Neal Foundation's annual fundraising gala, "The Event" in Vegas.

The gig is set to go down Oct. 1 at the MGM Grand, and we're told the show will go on -- even now, with Adam's relationship status in the headlines amid a DM scandal. Our sources tell us there will be no red carpet at the event, similar to last year, so Adam won't be grilled by reporters.

Adam Levine Says No Affair with IG Model, but He 'Crossed the Line'

Not just that, but our sources tell us Adam is also going to forge ahead with other professional commitments he's already made -- and that would seem to include his M5 world tour, with stops all over Asia through the end of the year, as well as one final NYE show in Palm Springs.

It's interesting, considering the drama has now ballooned even beyond what was originally alleged. It all started with one woman claiming she had an affair with Adam, which he denied. She offered up DMs suggesting he wanted to name his unborn kid after her.

Although Adam denied being physically involved, he did cop to sending flirtatious messages and also expressed regret, while noting he's working it out with his wife, Behati Prinsloo .

More women have come forward with claims he was DM'ing them as well -- including some famous ladies alleging he attempted to DM them.

Adam and Behati were photographed together this week , but it's unclear where things stand between them.

At any rate, AL's plowing ahead with his frontman duties.

In a recent interview with Men's Health , the former  The Voice   coach (Seasons 1-16) gave details about his diet. After walking us through his morning kitchen routine, Levine gave us a glimpse of his  massive  walk-in refrigerator. 

"This is my favorite thing," he proudly told the camera, before the host said that it is "the biggest fridge that [they've] ever seen on the show."

Then, Levine showed us the specific item that he  always  has in his fridge: Peppers.

The singer proudly held up a package of bell peppers, noting their nutritious vitamin C value. "I think those are the best things you can put in your body everyday," he said.

Levine also talked about how his relationship with his beloved peppers has evolved. 

"You can eat anything you want when you're younger, and then all of a sudden you can't. So I just kind of try to be conscious of things I put in my body, not overdo it, not overthink it, but be smart of it. Lots of veggies, things I didn't use to love, cause who likes veggies when they're young? But now I love veggies. It's funny." 

He may have a song called "Sugar," but he sure is a fan of his veggies. 

Adam Levine on  The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Aside from being a pepper enthusiast, Levine is of course known for being the frontman of the mega popular band Maroon 5 . When Levine appeared on  The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon  in April, he dropped exciting news: They're  working on new music . 

"You've been hinting that you guys are in the studio working on something — and finally, this year you're releasing the new music," said Jimmy Fallon .

"It's coming," Levine confirmed. "You know, I think that for the first time in about 13 years, I've decided to kind of take the reins back for the songwriting part of it, and make sure that all the ideas come from either myself or the band. So we're not going to have any real co-writes."

He described the upcoming music as a full circle moment for the group whose original members have been making music together since 1994, first rising to fame with their 2002 debut album,  Songs About Jane.   

"And, you know, the ideas are coming straight from the nucleus of Maroon 5, which I think is going to make it sound a lot like it did in the very, very beginning," Levine continued. "So, I'm  so  excited about what's happening right now."

About Adam Levine

Adam Noah Levine (; born March 18, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and the lead singer of the pop rock band Maroon 5. Levine began his musical career in 1994 with the band Kara's Flowers, of which he was the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band split up in 1997 after the commercial failure of their only album, The Fourth World . In 2001, the group was reformed as Maroon 5 – with James Valentine replacing Levine as guitarist- and released their first album, Songs About Jane , which went multi-platinum in the US. Since then, they have released five more albums: It Won't Be Soon Before Long (2007), Hands All Over (2010), Overexposed (2012), V (pronounced: "five") (2014), and Red Pill Blues (2017). As part of Maroon 5, Levine has received three Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, and a World Music Award.

From 2011 to 2019, Levine served as a coach on NBC's reality talent show The Voice . The winners of seasons (1, 5, and 9) belonged to his team. In 2012, Levine made his acting debut as recurring character Leo Morrison in the second season of the television series American Horror Story . Levine also appeared in the films Begin Again (2013), Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Fun Mom Dinner and The Clapper (both 2017). Levine launched his eponymous fragrance line in 2013. The same year, he collaborated with Kmart and ShopYourWay.com to develop his menswear collection. He also owns a record label, 222 Records, and a production company, 222 Productions, which produced television shows Sugar and Songland . In 2013, The Hollywood Reporter reported that "sources familiar with his many business dealings" estimated Levine would earn more than $35 million that year.
