Day trip to Oahu
Leslie has been most helpful at explaining the different tours and answering all other questions. Easy process for booking a tour that requires a flight for island hopping.

Helpful staff; website technical problems
The staff were very friendly and responsive, but the website had a glitch that meant my credit card payment didn't go through as it had indicated, and as a result we lost out on the tour we thought we had booked.

One of the guarantees of Toms Barefoot…
One of the guarantees of Toms Barefoot is that they have a low price guarantee, but when I tried to book and explained that a different company had lower price and even gave them the web site the only answer I got was oh the girl that does that isn't in today so I have to book you at our price. Otherwise appreciated the person phoned me to confirm our tour and get everything arranged

Read this! It is a great company to go through!
I’m a physician, a smart guy, and I have to say, I was skeptical using a travel agent of sorts, especially one named “Tom’s Barefoot”, because for some reason it sounds sketch and their website is a little weird. Having said that, they are the best to go through for any activity and here’s why. One, you can filter to the island and activity time you want. Most importantly though, the travel agents are SUPER nice and helpful. They give you advice on when to check in and other helpful information. It’s good to know that all the trips/activities they offer, can be purchased from that particular business’ website. Those companies may or may not have the best customer service etc. Also, Tom’s Barefoot in my research, always had the same price as the individual companies online or often times a cheaper price. It was so nice booking our kayak and deep sea fishing trip though them and such as smooth transaction with easy instructions and information. I’d totally recommend this site for all your mainstream island adventures/treks. I was not paid for this review and only did it because I keep getting an email asking if I would review. Have a nice trip!

Everything worked perfectly. My wife and I took a Kayak/snorkel tour and it was exactly what we wanted and expected. I called the phone number to confirm the tour and they answered immediately.
Great customer service and value deals!
We have been using this company on Maui for several years and even though "Fran" retired we now have "Trish". She provided great deals on Oahu which we normally do not go to. Thanks Trish!

Maui, Hawaii

With a plethora of spectacular islands in Hawaii, what sets Maui apart from the others? Well, the most distinct aspect of Maui is that it’s diversity offers something for everyone. With a mix of white, red, and black sand beaches, there are plenty of dreamy beaches for leisure travelers to relax on. For those seeking adventure, the opportunities are endless on this rainforest island featuring scenic hiking, mountain biking, and exploring volcanoes. The Road to Hana also offers stunning sea cliff views, waterfalls, tropical plantations, and more. When you visit Maui, there’s something new to discover each day, and whether you are traveling on a romantic honeymoon, family vacation, or girl’s getaway, everyone will surely find something to love.

Practical Info
Maui’s main airport is the Kahului Airport (OGG). Depending on where you are staying, the island also has the Kapalua Airport (JHM) located in the northwest and the Hana Airport (HNM) located on the east coast.
You will not find any true all-inclusive resorts in Hawaii. The area is very open and “shareable” to everyone. The resorts are in close proximity to each other and accessible to all. Because of these circumstances, it is difficult to offer a fully all-inclusive stay. But don’t let that discourage you—rather, embrace it! This allows you to see more of the island, take in views from different resorts, try food and drinks at another, and explore a variety of beaches!
It’s very common and efficient to rent a car in Maui. Driving around the island is very easy, most resorts offer parking, and it takes away the stress of figuring out daily transportation to all the sights you want to see.

I used them last fall and was very happy with them. The package pricing is certainly good, but the knowledge and commitment to service has ensured that I'll use them this fall as well.
As an example, I was interested in going to Lana'i for the day. Not only did the agent know the details of the offer, she also gave me some great advice on scheduling (make the day as long as you can), things to do, etc., but was also able to recommend specific days of the week for avoid "busy" days.
And no timeshare presentations will be harmed in the enjoyment of your day of snorkeling. Check out their packages of multiple trips. I combined my Lana'i trip with the submarine tour and saved even more.
We purchased a Molokini snorkel trip with Pacific Whale Foundation via Tom Barefoot a couple years ago. We also had no problems and are planning on using them again for some of our activities on our upcoming August/September trip. We booked online and never spoke to anyone, but I think I'll call this time since the other poster mentioned how helpful they were. No timeshare junk, either.
Highly recommend!
He was located at two main corners of Lahaina for many, many years. You would still see him on Front Street but when the timeshare companies offered the landlords over 4 times the current rent for his location he had to leave. We lost every single independantly owned tour and local travel desk in Lahaina to timeshare and timeshare affiliated desks.
At one point we counted 24 time share and timeshare affiliated desks on Front St lahaina.
Barefoot moved his operation and now relies mainly on website and repeat business.
We've used Tom's many times and it has always been a positive experience.
I did go ahead and booked my tour through Tom Barefoot Tours 1 week ago. I received a confirmation email and my credit card has been billed. However, I have not received my ticket/voucher yet through email. Am I supposed to receive that soon after I book? It's been a week and think I should have gotten it by now. Should I call Tom Barecat's to find out what's going on? Thanks!
Yes, if you think there's a problem go ahead and call them. I'd give you more specific advice, but I can't remember how long it was before I got my things from them.
Best of luck!
Good example is the 2 day priority mail takes up to 5 business days.
Tom Barefoot Tours saved us not only a great deal of money, but their personal experiences with the
tour operators made all the difference in picking the proper boat, luau, and horseback company to use.
We appreciated the help that we got from our agent, Lori, when a couple of the activities had to be juggled around. She even called someone to help when we locked our keys in our car !
I'll use them again and recommend them to my friends, coworkers, and other travelers to the beautiful state of Hawaii. Best of all, NO timeshare!

Maui Sunset Cruise: Your Insider's Guide to Choosing Right
This page may contain compensated affiliate links. For more information, please read my disclaimer .
Should you go on a Maui sunset cruise? Is it worth the money? How do you pick one? The insider's guide tells all...
For what it's worth, we weren't sure if a Maui cocktail cruise would be for us either. But we needed to relax after a few jam-packed days of sightseeing and decided to give it a try
And...we were SO glad that we did!
Sure, it was touristy, as expected. But it was also romantic and wonderfully relaxing!
In a rush? Book it now!
Loads of Choices - Which Should You Choose?
There are loads of sunset cocktail cruises on Maui to choose from. You can depart from Lahaina Harbor, Maalaea Harbor, or even right off Kaanapali Beach! And as for pricing, there is everything from budget $40 cruises, all the way up to splurge-worthy tickets that'll cost you $150 per person! So to narrow down your choices, start out with choosing a departure style - harbor, or beach?
Harbor vs. Beach Departure
If you ask me, the beach departure has a certain something special to it - it's all rather magnificent really, seeing the boat pull up right onto the sand, the sun casting a warm glow over everything, and walking barefoot in the surf to climb aboard. And it's sometimes doable even as a spur-of-the-moment thing. If you happen to be at the right place on Kaanapali Beach at sunset, you may be asked if you'd like to buy a ticket right then and there! So definitely consider that option.
But if getting your feet wet doesn't appeal to you, then by all means, take a tour that departs from a harbor.
If I were you, and wanted a harbor departure, I'd narrow down the choices and pick a cruise that departs from the harbor closest to where you are staying the night. That way, you won't have an unnecessarily long drive home when the cruise is over. There are so many choices, that narrowing things down this way will not mean compromising quality.
Cocktail or Dinner Cruise?
This will have a big impact on your budget, with dinner cruises generally costing a lot more than cocktail cruises. Generally speaking, for the same money, you'll get a better meal on land at a restaurant than you will on a sunset cruise - so if you're on a tighter budget, I'd go for the cocktail cruise. We went on the Pacific Whale Foundation's sunset cocktail cruise and had a fantastic time - the food was great, the views were great, and we even had live music! However, if you choose a cocktail cruise, don't stuff yourself at dinner beforehand. Usually there are plenty of appetizers to go around, so you can make a light meal out of it. You'd hate to be stuffed from the moment you board the boat, and have no room for nibbling, right? And if you still feel peckish afterwards, then by all means head to a restaurant for snacks when you get off the boat.
Perks on a Maui Sunset Cruise
On the Pacific Whale Foundation's cocktail cruise that we chose, they offered an open bar with Mai Tai's, beer, or wine. If you like a Mai Tai, I suggest you go with that - there is no better place than Hawaii to order one, and besides that, most places on mainland have no idea how to make one.
Where is the Best Place to Buy Maui Sunset Cruise Tickets?
My favorite place to book is on the Barefoot Tours site.
There are several reasons why I feel comfortable recommending them to you:
- They're a reputable local Maui company who has been in business for over 30 years.
- They have an excellent low price guarantee!
- They offer a wide selection of activities and tour operators, so I feel confident that you will find what you're looking for!
