SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Face & Voice of the Ship  – The CD will drive the guest experience, as well as revenue, through his/her appearances, stage shows and announcements. In addition, as a skilled public communicator, the CD will have a primary role in safety procedures as outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS).

• Stage, Activities, TV – The CD will host many events for our guests including, but not limited to: all main lounge shows, revenue presentations, deck parties, meet & greet events, activities around the vessel, live morning shows, pre-recorded tv spots, etc.
• PA/Revenue – The CD will make strategic personal appearances and multiple daily announcements as outlined in the CCL Onboard Commerce Plan in order to inform guests of important information, create excitement for big events and drive traffic to revenue opportunities around the vessel.
• Safety – As the voice of the ship the CD will have a primary role in communicating all pertinent information to our guests during an emergency.

Leading the Activity Team  – The CD is the direct supervisor for the onboard Activity Team. This team may include E-Staff, Karaoke Host and Comedy Club Manager (where applicable). The CD will show leadership skills in the following;

• Training–The CD is responsible for the stage, performance and activity training of the Activity Team, as well as ensuring that E-Staff are preparing for their tier appraisals by following goals set out in each E-Staff tier job description.
• Monitoring– The CD will continually monitor activities and events hosted by members of the team and offer guidance and training where necessary. This training and guidance will be through conversation, coaching and evaluations.
• Scheduling/Meeting –The CD will create the weekly schedule for the E-Staff and conduct Daily Compass meetings with the activity team that also cover scheduling information. The CD will provide feedback about the strengths and weaknesses of the Activity Team to the Entertainment Director to assist in the task of entertainment programming.
• Coaching/Discipline – The CD will use onboard tools (iCare and TGEM) to provide immediate feedback to the activity team. The CD will offer constructive counseling to the Activity Team through the use of CCL HR tools.

Create, Review, Reinvent Activities  – As leader of the Activity Team the CD will be responsible for creating new, fun, engaging experiences for our guests. With the help of the team he/she will bring new exciting events to the table. In addition to monitoring, as previously mentioned, the CD will analyze the effectiveness of events to seek out opportunities for improvement in our current product.

Safety Responsibilities

• Voice of the Ship – See above (Skills & Responsibilities>Face & Voice of the Ship>Emergencies)
• SMS Responsibilities The CD will implement and comply with all appropriate safety responsibilities as set out by the CCL SMS procedures. These will include, but not be limited to the following: Stairs and Escape Ways Clearance in Theaters and Lounges, Crew Training On The Job, Storage requirements, Port Safety Manning, General Fire & Emergency Drill and Exemptions from Training Exercises and Drills.

EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years in the entertainment industry (hosting experience preferred)
• 3+ years with personnel management experience
• Bachelors Degree or higher preferred

• Coaching/Discipline – The Ent Dir is responsible for coaching and guiding the department with periodic evaluations and appraisals as well as both Positive and Corrective Performance Records when disciplinary action is necessary.
• Monitoring– The Ent Dir will continually monitor activities, events, musical sets, etc involving members of the team and offer guidance and training where necessary.

• Entertainment Operations Meeting - The Ent Dir will serve as head of the Entertainment Operations Meeting; ensuring a positive and effective environment to discuss issues related to the production of shows, IssueTrak & maintenance, safety, entertainment scheduling, TGEM tracking, revenue and groups requirements. These meetings will occur weekly and include the Cruise Director, Entertainment Technical Manager, Dance Captain, Musical Director and Media Manager.
• Shore side Communication – The Ent Dir is responsible for creating voyage reports to communicate subjective and objective data to shore side management. This includes, but is not limited to, TGEM ratings & responses, iCare, attendance and performance feedback.
• Entertainment Schedule –The Ent Dir is responsible for creating, monitoring & modifying the ship’s entertainment schedule to include activities, music, shows, etc. Significant front-of-house time is expected to monitor guest traffic, habits & patterns in order to continually maximize revenue & guest experience through entertainment scheduling.
• Scheduling/Meeting –The Ent Dir is responsible for creating schedules for the department that comply with MLC 2006 requirements. The Ent Dir will conduct full Department meetings and Daily Compass meetings with members of the team that also cover scheduling information.
• Entertainment Programming –The Ent Dir has a responsibility to both entertainment and overall ship revenue and will thus tailor the Entertainment Program with a focus on guest flow into revenue areas during appropriate times.
• Business Partners –The Ent Dir will liaise with shipboard management and business partners to develop strategies targeted at increasing ship revenue performance.
• Fun Time – The Ent Dir is directly responsible for ensuring the compliance of CCL Fun Time Procedures and necessary Fun Time edits of the Entertainment Department.
• Port Manning – The Ent Dir is responsible for the creating and updating of an Entertainment Port Manning Schedule. He/She will ensure full compliance to SMS/COMM/PO14 with ID cards in place as necessary and correct information posted to the Y Drive at all times.
• SMS Responsibilities - The Ent Dir will implement and comply with all appropriate safety responsibilities as set out by the CCL SMS procedures. These will include, but not be limited to the following: Storage Requirements, Exemptions from Training Exercises and Drills, Port Safety Manning, Crew Training On The Job, Use of Pyrotechnics & Ground Fog Systems for Entertainment purposes, Handover Reports, Fire Risk Assessment, Safety Training within Departments, Securing of Heavy Objects and the Ship’s Security Plan
• 5+ years in the hospitality industry (entertainment experience preferred)

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Depending on your E-Staff level your job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Host basic non-revenue and revenue generating activities.
• Socialize with guests at different events throughout the ship.
• Perform alongside other entertainment team members as assigned.
• Be a reliable source of contact and information for our guests.
• Assist with show watch and crowd control.
• Demonstrate commitment to Carnival Service Values.
• Actively participate in assigned activities including, but not limited to trainings, drills, safety briefings, including “Port Manning”, meetings and performances, as required.

Carnival Announces Cruise Director and Entertainment Director Duo for Radiance

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that Ryan Rose and Bradley Cripps will serve as cruise director and entertainment director respectively for the ship’s inaugural season.

According to a press release, New York-native Rose (pictured right) joined the company as a host DJ and fun squad team member in 2015 and most recently served as cruise director on the Carnival Inspiration, so he is “looking forward to his return to the West Coast.”

Completing the duo, Cripps (pictured left) will spearhead Carnival Radiance’s entertainment offerings, including shows, performances and deck parties. From Hertfordshire, England, Cripps is known for his “contagious enthusiasm and positive leadership,” according to Carnival. He joined the company as a sports manager in 2015, later being named entertainment director in 2018.

“When our guests board a Carnival cruise, they look forward to the unparalleled entertainment they can experience all day every day, and our cruise director and entertainment director duo are at the core of that fun,” said Chris Nelson, vice president of entertainment for Carnival Cruise Line. “The Carnival Radiance is our newest Fun Ship, and we know that Ryan and Bradley are the perfect team to bring this beautiful new vessel to life.”

The Carnival Radiance will make her Southern California debut on Monday, Dec. 13, kicking off a year-round schedule of Baja Mexico cruises from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal.

She features all of the line’s popular Fun Ship 2.0 dining, beverage and entertainment spaces as well as Big Chicken, the second seagoing restaurant created by Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal that debuted on the Mardi Gras earlier this year. Lucille O’Neal, Shaq’s mom, will serve as the Carnival Radiance’s godmother.

Carnival Names Cruise Director for New Carnival Jubilee

Carnival Cruise Line has named Kyndall “Fire” Magyar as Cruise Director of the new Carnival Jubilee and Matthew Boyd as the ship’s Entertainment Director.

In anticipation of Carnival Cruise Line ’s next new ship, Carnival Jubilee , the cruise line today announced Matthew Boyd will serve as Entertainment Director and Kyndall “Fire” Magyar will be Cruise Director for the ship’s inaugural season.

The pair will lead the teams that provide all the fun aboard the new ship when she begins sailing on December 23 from her homeport of Galveston, Texas .

“Watching their dedication come to life on board Carnival Jubilee ’s sister ships, I know Kyndall and Matthew are perfectly suited to deliver Texas-sized fun that maximizes the capabilities of this spectacular new ship and upholds our high standards for entertainment,” said Chris Nelson , Carnival’s vice president of entertainment.

Magyar and Boyd are both accomplished leaders who will bring a combined 20 years of Carnival experience to their teams.

The news comes a week after the company announced the appointment of the ship’s senior officers , including Captain Andrea Catalani .

Matthew Boyd: Jubilee’s new Entertainment Director

Boyd was recently named Carnival’s 2023 Entertainment Director of the Year . He has been part of the Carnival family since 2010 and has served as an entertainment director aboard several ships since 2018.

Matthew most recently led the entertainment team aboard Carnival Celebration . The company shared that he is honored to be the inaugural Entertainment Director of Carnival Jubilee and is excited to present guests with all the new entertainment offerings in development for the new ship.

Kyndall “Fire” Magyar: Jubilee’s new Cruise Director

Magyar is a Texas native who has worked on Carnival ships since 2016. She most recently served as cruise director aboard Mardi Gras . Kyndall was also part of the inaugural team for Carnival Horizon and served as the cruise director of Carnival Vista when the ship returned to service in 2021.

According to a press release, she’s elated to be part of the inaugural Carnival Jubilee family, and to sail from her home state of Texas.

The new Carnival Jubilee

Carnival Jubilee will soon join her sisters Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras as the third ship in the fleet powered by a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) propulsion system.

When she sets sail in December 2023, Jubilee will also debut unique and immersive ocean-themed experiences in two new zones: Currents and The Shores .

The new ship will be home to other features already popular on board her sister ships, like BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster and a three-deck atrium offering expansive views during the day. The transforming atrium space will double as an entertainment venue at night, with movable theatrical lighting and LED screens.

Carnival Cruise Line has announced the cruise director and entertainment director for its newly renovated and renamed ship,  Carnival Radiance.

Cruise Director

Carnival Radiance  is the former  Carnival Victory,  which Carnival has now renamed and completely overhauled.

New features added to the vessel during her makeover include the Heroes Tribute Bar in honor of those who serve in the Armed Forces, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, Bonsai Sushi, Big Chicken, and the RedFrog Pub. Transformed spaces include the water park, kids’ clubs, and Cloud 9 Spa.

Lee Mason Named New Ship’s Cruise Director, Calvyn Martens to Serve as Entertainment Director

Carnival Celebration will offer a long list of highly anticipated features taking cruise vacations to the next level, from her  BOLT rollercoaster  to her unique  new zones  and  dining venues , and now guests have two more reasons to be excited about the next new ship from  Carnival Cruise Line : Lee Mason as  Carnival Celebration ’s cruise director and Calvyn Martens as the ship’s entertainment director.

Mason and Martens are both popular with Carnival guests and bring a combined quarter-century of Carnival fun and experience to lead the team responsible for the cruise line’s quintessential atmosphere, activities and entertainment aboard its new ship.

“Not only will Carnival Celebration arrive as the ship marking our 50th birthday, but it will build upon the stellar entertainment offerings which our guests have already come to love since the debut of  Mardi Gras . Lee and Calvyn are the perfect team to take on this responsibility and help our guests make great memories while having lots of fun,” said Chris Nelson, Carnival’s vice president of entertainment.

Mason, currently serving as cruise director on  Mardi Gras , is from Cumbria, England, and has served as cruise director on several ships across Carnival’s fleet over the past six years, including the return to service of Carnival Panorama in Long Beach. Having trained at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City, Mason’s talent for showmanship is matched only by his boundless energy and love for life. His proudest achievement to date is helping to set Carnival Splendor’s $40,000 St. Jude fundraising record.

Martens, from Vancouver, Canada, has been entertaining Carnival guests for nearly 20 years, having joined the company as part of the team on Carnival Holiday. He has helped bring to life much of the entertainment programming Carnival fans enjoy today and is a mentor to many entertainers across the fleet. Calvyn’s Carnival journey has had many highlights, but some of his fondest memories include being selected as part of the inaugural team for  Carnival Magic  and  Carnival Breeze , leading the  Carnival Legend  for its inaugural Baltic season, becoming known to guests as the “Morning Show” co-host and serving as Executive Assistant to John Heald, Carnival’s brand ambassador.

Carnival Celebration is part of the cruise line’s new Excel-class and the sister ship to  Mardi Gras , which entered service last year as the first ship in North America to run on an  Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) propulsion system . Carnival Corp. pioneered the introduction of LNG fuel in the passenger cruise sector as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and emissions reduction.

Carnival Celebration will arrive to its homeport,  Miami , in November and will debut along with the redesigned Terminal F at PortMiami. The new terminal will be among the first at PortMiami to be shore-power ready in 2023.

As a remote PVP, you'll be the face of Carnival Cruise Line, making outbound calls to potential customers, building strong relationships, and converting leads into unforgettable cruise experiences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Excellent attendance and punctuality are an essential function of the job.
• Promote cruise sales by initiating telephone calls, acting on leads and/or prospects. Present cruise products and make travel recommendations.
• Establish and maintain customer relationships by delivering excellent customer service, meeting customer needs and expectations to meet/exceed sales goals.
• Maintain customer contact database of new and existing accounts to close sales.
• Participate in mandatory trainings and meetings to stay current with knowledge of products to present cruise product features, benefits, and pricing.
• Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
• Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: .

• Currently considering residents from ONLY Texas, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
• Minimum High School Diploma  or  GED.
• Inside / outside field 1 year sales experience with proven sales success.
• Experience developing new business and new accounts with a customer service background.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Results and goal-oriented sales professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills sufficient to successfully communicate with customers via telephone.
• Superior prospecting, presentation and closing skills.
• Comfort working in an environment requiring achievement of monthly sales targets and goals.
• Effective time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to maintain strong working knowledge of cruise products.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain individual lead database.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Monday through Friday 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM (EST).
• Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM - 07:00 PM (EST), and Fridays 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM (EST). 
• Since this is an incentive-driven position, when business needs dictate, PVPs may be required to work the last Saturday of a month. 
• The starting hourly pay rate for this role is $15/hour for the first 5 pay periods. For pay periods 6 through 10, the rate is *$11/hour plus participation in the sales incentive program.  From the 11th pay period onward, the annual base salary will be $16,500 with continued participation in the sales incentive program. The sales incentive program is tiered and includes a 6-month incentive guarantee. Average annual earning for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 with high performers earning $100,000+.

• Complementary stand-by cruises, employee discounts on confirmed cruises, plus special rates for family and friends
