One of the drop off points, the architecture museum was closed, as was the Stavanger Museum. Taking into account that these were 2 of the drop off points, where many passengers got off, the tour operators should have informed passengers of that. A waste of money unless you are not able bodied, better off walking, which is what we actually did after finding that the museums were closed. Waited 1hr 15 minutes for a bus to arrive. Eventually had to get a taxi back to the ship. Terrible service I have never been abandoned by a bus company before. Avoid them as they are unreliable. • castigergirl 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Save your money - not worth it Would not recommend. I have used hop on buses worldwide and always find them to be a good way to get around whilst giving information about the local area, not this one! It was nearly impossible to find out on the website when they operate, no clear times or eve dates. I did find on the website that it starts at 10am, so on a very cold and snowy morning, my daughter and I walked to stop 1 to be told that it actually starts at 1030, so after 40 mins wait in the cold, we boarded the bus. the commentary was not working, other people had the same issue, we tried different languages and changing the volume but nothing, I asked the very grumpy driver and he pressed a button above him and said it was working, it was not! We got off at the folkmuseem and were disappointed when we got back on that we had the same driver, again no commentary. We stayed on back to stop 1 where we asked the woman who sold us tickets about the commentary, she boarded the bus and asked the driver, he told her it was on and she checked and it was not, she got him to drive a little way and then he turned it on. I wanted the commentary, otherwise we would have walked or used a regular bus so for the price we paid, it was not at all good value. The bus stopped for 20 mins at the cruise terminal, and it was so cold sat on the bus waiting. The last bus left the stop 1 at 15.45 so overall it was not good value. I would not waste money using this again. Most places are walkable and if not, public bus/tram services are excellent in Oslo. Read more Written November 2, 2023
  • Shropshire1234 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Brilliant way for an introduction to Stavanger A brilliant way to see Stavanger and to decide where you want to get off and explore. You get a 24 hour ticket which is good for the bus and a boat trip. There are 12 stops and free onboard WiFi. I like the fact that you can download a QR to find out the nearest stops and when the bus is due. Our stops were, Old Stavanger, Cathedral, Cathedral, Petro Museum, Skansekaien, Ovre Holmegata, Petri Church, Archaeology Museum, Stavanger Museum, Mosvatnet Park, Art Museum, Royal Residence. • travelingboski 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great way to see the city - popular stops can get really crowded. We stumbled upon this tour and were glad we did. They offered earphones with narration of sights around the city. It stopped at all the great points of interest. Be sure and stop at the funicular and ride it to the top for spectacular views. The only problem was trying to catch a bus back, we were on a cruise ship and needed to get back on time. We waited in a long line as 2 busses stopped but didn't have room for any more passengers. Some people left the line and grabbed a taxicab back to the ship. We walked backwards to an earlier stop and finally found a seat and were able to get back to the cruise ship on time. • 495helenv 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles What bus? None came in at least hour and a half. After using this company several times in the UK and abroad I had no hesitation in using it again on our recent trip to Oslo. How wrong I was. Considering the first bus is at 10am and run every 30 minutes we expected there to be one at 10.30, we arrived at stop 1 at 10.25. No bus came then, nor at 11.00, nor at 11.30. By this point we walked a little down the road and paid a further £100+ to use the Hop on As. By the time their bus left at 12noon there was still no sign of any 'official' bus or even a booth. Got no joy at all with customer service, was told that as far as they were aware they were running to schedule and to check the interactive map. I did. They even had the cheek to ask if I was stood at the right stop. The end of the conversation involved me being told to email them and to 'have a good one'. Got home from Oslo and have emailed the company requesting a refund as we never even used the tickets. Now waiting for a response but I'm not losing £84 for a service that we did not use. My advice, never prebook, wait until you see the seller and go online and book then. Read more Written September 24, 2023
  • 444marcellao 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Surely this company could provide better customer service! We booked this experience for six persons for two days on our recent trip to Oslo as we have found it an excellent method to travel around other cites we have visited. However, this time we were disappointed. While the bus stops at all the expected locations to allow the ‘hop on hop off’ aspect, it stopped for 30 minutes at the cruise terminal. We were never informed about this fact when we initially asked how long the tour would take (approx 75 minutes as advertised) and the driver never announced this either, we were just left sitting there. We found the driver dismissive in his response when we queried the delay and he responded saying, “that’s this company”. To further exacerbate the situation, the driver then stopped for a coffee at the Ferry Terminal! When we arrived back to the last/ first stop almost 2 hours later, we further queried the delay with another staff member and we were given the impression that this shouldn’t have occurred and we were advised to email the company. Unfortunately, we feel he did not speak the truth as other members of our party had a similar experience on different journeys. Surely this company could do better and provide better customer service. Read more Written September 17, 2023
  • gingerlee13 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Adequate tour, but hope for a sunny day. I was a bit disappointed in this tour; it did not live up to other similar tours. It was a drizzly day (not unusual, I understand), and so the windows were foggy and we had to continually wipe them down. We were on the second level and it was hard to see out the top of the windows; they needed to have a larger pane of class to see the tops of buildings. Many of the audio connections did not work. My husband and I tried about six before we could find two that worked. That said, it did make a good loop around Bergen and you could see where you might want to come back to explore. Important to note: if you arrive on a cruise, the instructions said to meet the bus outside of the terminal. That's the MAIN terminal. We went to a different one, and by the time we exited the ship, there was no one around to point us to the bus stop. The company needs to address this issue. Read more Written September 13, 2023

  • H1704BQmaggiem 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Nor recommended! This didn't even deserve a one star! We were told we would stop at the best sights in Olden. It cost 900 NOK (£67) for 2 of us. We went upstairs, it wasn't open top, a cover was over us. There was an audio commentary but it was breaking up so we couldn't hear. We droe up through the city and the driver didn't stop at all. We passed what might have been the cathedral, covered in green plastic. We then got driven back to the ship. Under an hour and nothing to see!!!!???? What a rip off. Please do not pay for this bus into town which was 100 times more expensive than we would pay in UK, and we have bus stops here too. I can't ash photos, we didn't stop in order to take any. Everyone was complaining. In comparison, we did a hop on hop off in Olden and we stopped at the rapids on the river and alongside a lake , with enough time to get out and walk around and take photos. We also had a very clear commentary playing out through the coach telling us the history of the area and many interesting facts. That trip was 1 hour long. We would not hesitate to recommend this trip. It cost £58 for 2 of us Read more Written September 9, 2023
  • kims992 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Not really worth it If I had done my research, I wouldn’t have used the bus because we were fully capable of walking everywhere except to see the Fram, Kon Tiki and Nordic museums, which are located together. We used the bus to get there and back and easily walked everywhere else. We found out from friends that we could have walked the couple of blocks to the waterfront and just hopped on a water taxi to take us across the bay to see the the exhibits mentioned above. I couldn’t understand and hear the narrated tape on the head set on the bus because of all of the background noise. So would I recommend it, no, unless you just need a ride from place to place. • sophiemetzler 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Very rude staff and way to expensive! First of all, we paid nearly 40€ per ticket for a tour with 3 (!!!) stops, which is far to expensive. The price-performance ratio is very bad. Altough the worst for us was the impoliteness of the staff. We booked a ticket in advance on the internet, we waited properly in line to get on the bus and as we wanted to board, the driver told us that we had to go to the ticket selling point to get a printed voucher, but with sich a rudeness, it was horrible! As we had already paid the tickets, we went to the ticket selling point to get that printed voucher, in case the ticket hadn't been paid yet, we would not have taken that bus with this rude person driving it. As we got finally on the bus with our 2 kids, we were sitting each of us on one seat (totally 4, as we were 2 adults and 2 kids), but the bus got filled and filled, then at one point the driver came to us and ordered us to take the kids from their seats, because there were people who need to sit. Sorry what? We were perplex about the rudeness of that person and how he treated our children. If you don't want children on your bus, you need to open an adults only company! We visited on August 29, 2023 and it was on the bus that departed on 13h20. Before we did a lot of city sightseeing with this company and we never had a problem. Read more Written August 29, 2023

In cooperation with Scarboro Community Day, Oak Ridge Periodic Tables is offering a free community bus tour of the city’s African American history at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27. The tour, which will include several stops in Oak Ridge, will last approximately two hours and will be guided by the Atomic Hope Heritage Preservation and Tourism Co.

These historic sites in Oak Ridge will highlight contributions, sites, and experiences often overlooked and forgotten, according to a news release from David Allred of Oak Ridge Periodic Tables. The tour will leave from the Scarboro Basketball Courts on Carver Avenue, just past the Scarboro Community Center on the left. The tour bus "will return just before the Scarboro Community Day festivities begin, so if you can – please stay afterward for lunch and fellowship as we celebrate the day as neighbors," his release stated.

To join us on the bus tour, an RSVP is required. You can reserve a spot at  oakridgeperiodictables.com/bustour .

The event is free and space is limited.

"In our collective American story, the basic human experience of hope connects us all. Hope is truly future-focused. The Freedom Day, Journey of Hope Tour highlights significant sites of the African American experience from slavery to Freedom in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Enjoy and See the East Tennessee Secret City from a different perspective," the release stated.

The tour will be guided by Atomic Hope Heritage Preservation and Tourism Co., with creator and historian Katatra Vasquez leading the group.
