Egypt Nile Cruise Lines MS Concerto.

We’re travelers who booked a three night tour aboard the MS Concerto from Aswan to Luxor. Although staff were very nice, the cabins were non too clean and somewhat shabby. All this can be overlooked however but prepared to pay for wi-fi and to require your phone to be turned over so they can enter the password (its secret). Oh, that’s for each area of the boat during your allowed 16 hour window of availability. Yes, you will need to call for assistance from your cabin (because they have set it up for reception area), and you’ll have to call from sun deck, from lounge etc. This might be tolerable if anyone told you this would be the case. And if you thought your superior cabin with window to outside (i.e. the river) would be worth the price, think again. Two of three nights you will be double berthed so your view is a foot or two away from the window of the next boat. Additionally, you have to pay for water and believe me, you willl need it. No complimentary water! Would we recommend? The river is beautiful. But think about it. Maybe it’s worth the additional cost to have a truly stellar experience. This was not. Sent from my iPhone in quick mode. Pardon brevity and any typos evident.

We had booked a week cruising the Nile followed by a week in Hurghada. We had expected the cruise week to be the relaxed week, wow we were wrong. The cruise ship was in good order and the crew were friendly, efficient and professional. The food was good with a wide selection, the bars were welcoming and the cabin steward was very artistic with the towels etc. The trips etc were all organised by Orbital Travel. We had a wonderful guide in Elia the Egyptian expert, who brought the sights of ancient Egypt to life. All the trips are an early start due to the midday temperatures along the Nile, but you can chill in the afternoons. Would highly recommend this cruise. Big shout-out and thanks to "Hazel & Mark", "Anne & Chris", "Christine the fingers & Wayne" & last but not least Mark four fingers KitKat. You all addressed that something that made the cruise utterly fantastic! PS Thank you Paula at Holidays Please

Traveled on the Sonesta Nile Goddess. 36 large cabins so never over crowded, The food was top class and the Staff always willing to help solve any problems . The evenings were quiet with some local entertainment from the Nubians or Belly dancers. well worth watching as many a laugh too. Be prepared at times to be in the dark when they berth other ships alongside when in harbour, This restricted the use of the Balcony us you are window to window with other ships would not say its a 5* ship maybe 3* for the Cabins but the staff and services onboard definitely 5* Avoid the onboard WiFi unless desperate as its very expensive.

concerto nile cruise reviews

Did the mile trip and all of the temples including the valley of the kings, well worth it but very hot make sure you get the early morning starts as after 10am you will. It want to walk around Nd experience the beautiful sites. Each temple exit has a market the woest of which is Aswan where the sellers are the most aggressive. Do. To enter a store unles you intend to buy something one of our group had to push his way out, very unpleasant. The boat trips are very well organised our guide Mohammed was very knowledgeable

I only say very good because of the temples and tombs visited, the actual cruise element being very average. This was a budget holiday and you only get what you pay for, do not have high expectations then you will not be disappointed. We were assured by Broadway Travel that we would definitely be on the Royal Viking, but 2 days prior to our departure were told that this ship was being refitted and an upgrade to the Nile Ruby, hate to think what the other boat was like. Biggest issue health and safety, there isn’t any, see photos. On arrival we were invited to a very important meeting, which was only to inform us about the tipping arrangements and were advised to pay £28 per person in advance. There was no instruction about evacuation procedures or mention that life jackets were hidden in your wardrobe. The life rings (see photo) were so old I doubt their effectiveness, broken in half in some cases. The life rafts also looked very suspect. Generally the condition of the Nile Ruby was ok, lounge, dining room and cabins were good, but the upper deck was woefully tired. The sun loungers and furniture were very scruffy but worst of all, the jacuzzi, water was green. The staff’s answer to this was to drain it and leave it empty it could not have been cleaned since it’s installation, the jets were black (see photo) and it should be have been replaced long ago. Although the cabins were serviced twice a day some of their cleaning habits were suspect to say the least, given that some passengers had stomach upsets, sheets and towels were left on the carpets in the corridors not in plastic sacks, the cleaning cloths and buckets of water were very dirty. Food was poor even the bread, little choice and only lukewarm most of time. Best night was barbecue night. Unless you are a very heavy drinker do not have the drinks upgrade, beer was 70 Egyptian £ and wine 60 Egyptian £. The evening entertainment was twice in 7 nights, the whirling dervish dancer was very good. The staff were all very polite and helpful. The length of the cruise was only 130kms in each direction and whilst actually moving was very pleasant, time spent moored up less so. The real positive was the trips, these we booked whilst in Hurghada through local travel agents Hvezda. Although I have read other people’s reports who say you can do it yourself cheaper, we would not have had the excellent services of our guide Ahmed Mahmoud. Ahmed is an Egyptologist and Archeologist, who was able to convey his extensive knowledge extremely well. He was also a very considerate person, there were a number of older and less mobile members of our group and he took great care to ensure their safety and well being. All of the tours undertaken were unique, but I recommend Edfu Temple, the Valley of the Kings and the Karnak night show. The transfer time of 4-5 hours from Hurghada to Luxor is quite arduous, especially the last 60kms of the Agricultural Road. All in all the objective was to experience the history of ancient Egypt which was achieved, travelled with a good group of people, which was a bonus. We heard from some of our fellow travellers who stayed a day later than us that the Nile Ruby is going for a long overdue refit, whilst we were in Aswan we were docked next to the latest boat to enter service, it was very luxurious, but probably very expensive, if there is a next time I would pay more for a better boat.

concerto nile cruise reviews

Just back from 2 weeks in Egypt - 1 week a/inc & 1 week Nile cruise on Nile Ruby. We upgraded to a/inc package on boat £140 pp for the week. Cabins were ok reasonable space. Bathroom was poor surface of bath worn, mould, ill fitting hair dryer. Bar area was fine as was dining area. Sun deck really poor, dirty swimming pool, jacuzzi unusable. 2 umbrellas & less than 30 sunbeds ( v old) for all passengers .used towels were sometimes dried & put back as clean to be reused. Matting was not well fixed. At times in the bar they ran out of diet coke fanta sprite & brandy. The staff -waiters cleaners - were very good.Or the 6 of us 5 had varying degrees of stomach upsets. The rep was carrying Egyptian medication to give out!! This was my 7th Nile cruise & 10th visit to Egypt a country i love And this boat was by far the worst I have experienced. To make it worse it was not the boat we were originally booked on.We were told it was an upgrade.

Nile Cruise MS Concerto

We took a 3-night Aswan to Luxor cruise on MS Concerto. Finding & booking the cruise was the most difficult part of our Egypt trip as there is a lot of information online which is no longer applicable or is even contradictory. It is hard to find out the days when the cruises start, sailing & sightseeing schedules etc. Also many cruise companies don't have their own websites so you have to go through travel agents. Our private tour guide Haisam Salama was most helpful in this regard & we were not disappointed. As our cruise started on a Wednesday & most others start on Saturdays, the sites we visited were not overcrowded. MS Concerto is a fairly new vessel, well maintained & clean. The cabin was more spacious than expected on a river cruise & sensibly appointed. We arrived around 8:30 AM & though check-in time is 12 noon we were offered our cabin within an hour. The restaurant staff are attentive to detail & once when we failed to show up for a meal at the appointed time they called our cabin to make sure we did not miss it. The buffet spread was quite elaborate & food was tasty, though there was not too much variety in the preparations. It is best to buy large bottles of water before boarding as providing complimentary water in rooms/restaurants is not a common practice in Egypt. Best to get your tour guide to buy these for you, as tourists are charged exorbitantly. Wi-fi is available on board but not free-of-charge. Gratuity for the cruise staff is to be paid at the end of the stay in one lot, which was a good practice. The sun-deck was spacious & spread out, though they did not provide any umbrellas by the pool which was very small in any case. The cruise schedule was a little off (but this applied to all of them as we were sort of moving in a cavalcade); we seemed to be docked or refueling often & arrived at the tour destinations late. This meant that our tour guides were rushed off their feet trying to get us in & out of the monuments & back on board in time for sailing. This was a bit disappointing at Edfu & Luxor temples as we could easily have spent at least another hour at each place taking them in. Overall we had a very satisfactory cruise within our budget & it was well worth the time we spent in it.

Our trip to Egypt was a fantastic, magical trip and more than we hoped for. We are still dreaming about it and very touched by the people we met. All of the people we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our guides were the top of the line. We highly recommend Hamada Elamer from Luxor who was our guide in Egypt. He went above and beyond as our guide and his passion and knowledge of his country's history was inspirational and his people skills are exceptional! We were an older group and needed extra assistance and he was always there to lend a hand. The people with Blue Sky who met us at the airports, were so competent and helpful we felt very taken care of and safe every step of the way. I would be hard pressed to call any one experience my favorite But I will say I loved the hot air balloon ride over Luxor and the operator was excellent at his job. The accomodations on the cruise were first class, the food was delicious, and the crew was wonderful. Our trip was organized by Mohamed with Travel Discounters in Toronto, Canada. He put together a trip that was flawless. Each step of the way someone was there waiting to help us make our connections to our flights, our hotels, and introduce us to our guides. We will definitely contact Travel Discounters for our next trip abroad and we highly recommend their programs. Marina Telfer and Nancy Wrobel

We had done a Nile Cruise several years ago, and so decided to go away just before the Xmas rush started and the Nile came to mind. We actually booked with the Co-Op to fly to Luxor, join the MS Esadora Cruise Ship, go down the Nile and back, then fly from Luxor back to Heathrow. We were not disappointed. The Esadora write-up states that it is a 5-star ship, but I would rate it as 3 Star. Having said that, the staff couldn't have been nicer, always ready and willing to help in anyway they could. I would rate the All Inclusive food as average, but there was plenty of choice each lunch-time and evening. A few special mentions of the staff: The larger-than life Chief Chef with a smile to match, George one of the barmen (red bowtie) and last but not least Achmed our waiter at table and also his older brother in the Bar. Just a few more comments. We were so sorry to see many of the boats out of action and not as many tourists as usual, due to current events. The Egyptians are such pleasant people and they are all struggling at the moment to survive, tourism being their main income. Lets hope things change in the near future for them.

We stayed in Sonesta St George in our trip to Egypt from Luxor to Aswan (16 Nov to 20, 2015). The boat is very nice, the cabins we really loved it, well equipped and the bathroom the Jacuzzy/ Shower was really nice. The service was really good, in the room every day the cleaning and refill of amenities and by the night every day turndown service, Adb our housekeeper gave us a great service. The food was GREAT! good variety and quality our waiter Mr. Arnia took well care of us, I was sick and he was always asking how I was, and giving me tea. We highly recommend to stay on this cruise.! :)

just got back yesterday Wednesday 11 november from a cruise on the nile legacy. the flight was good albeit from Gatwick and not Manchester as originally booked. still don't know why...? . no problems with flight. when we were met at luxor, there was a band, whirling dervishes, happy smiling people giving us such a warm friendly welcome who then gave the ladies a flower and chocolate. we felt really special. met by the lovely gabriel and his team. who informed us which coach we were on. there were several coaches feeding people to the nile legacy. there were about 100+ but not completely full of people. we were the first to visit since june. we had requested a room between 310 and 320 and we got what we asked for with no trouble. if the room was not satisfactory we could ask to go in another but we were quite happy with ours. both suites were fully booked. i wanted to see them for future reference, I had an offer to look at the suites and they do look wonderful if you want to pay the extra, however a standard cabin was fine for us. we were out of it most of the time anyway. it was a brilliant holiday. great service, lovely selection of hot and cold food which included several variatons of meats, vegetables, fish, salads, breads, and puddings. and always two types of soup. they will also cater for special diets, very helpful people on the boat. nothing too much trouble, they cleaned rooms twice a day. the standard cabin had a fridge, tv, kettle, storage space but can be difficult if you leave large suitcases around in the room, but can be stored in the wardrobes, and a very large bed, with balconette with full french windows. the only thing for me with a fixed ankle that caused an issue were the gangplanks as it made me a little vary but others were absolutely fine but I did them. we still had to go through a few boats when docked on occasions and sometimes another boat docked next to us for a while which removes a little light from the cabin but most people are on the top deck anyway. I would highly recommend it and when you are out and about you are accompanied by security who you know are there for you, but we never felt threatened in any way. it is a great place to go and relax, explore historical sites as we did on the on full iteninary, meet new people. learn about the eygpitan way of life etc. there is also an option to go to cairo via plane and abu simbel by coach. dendera was by coach as water levels were too low for traveling by boat. we would go again. All in all it was an excellent experience and we had done it before this is why we wanted to go back. We will still venture and have holidays in eygpt as it is truly a magnificent underated holiday destination. I strongly urge you to give the true Egypt a try especially on the MS Nile Legacy. It was a beautiful clean boat with excellent standards. . x

This was part of a SAGA Egypt holiday, and we spent 6 nights cruising between Luxor and Aswan. The ship (part of the Presidential Nile fleet) was better than expected (reviews on The Admiral were less than complimentary) but was showing lack of repairs and renewals - it was however sailing which can not be said of the many cruise ships on the Nile - the numbers of vessels tied up and slowly rotting was a sad sight. All our tours from the ship were organised by SAGA - and our group made up the majority of passengers. Cabins were of reasonable size and all things worked. The cleaning staff however should spend more time cleaning rather than making towel sculptures! Food was a lot better than expected and a reasonable variety. The pool was fine and the evening entertainment went from bad (Nubian Dancers) to brilliant - a take on the Whirling Dervishes with light show? All in all the ship was fine - but the views from the cabin window weer great
