Distillery Trail - A Tour for Spirits Lovers If you love the idea of drinking a local libation in a hometown distillery, this is your tour!

About the event, what to expect...

There are as many distilleries in Texas as there were in the country when the American craft whiskey scene started gaining traction after the Great Recession of 2008, and Dallas-Fort Worth is at the center of the revolution.

As we waited for our whiskey to age, we created vodkas and gins that showcased Texas grains and botanicals. Next, we went on to corn whiskeys and moonshine, which became more and more popular nationwide. As local distilleries started producing single malt whiskeys made from malted barley grown in the state, a small distillery in Denison won the first-ever World's Best Bourbon award at the beginning of 2020, the first time a distillery outside Kentucky achieved such recognition. This event changed the game and threw the North Texas craft industry into the national spotlight.

So what is this tour about? It's a discovery journey to sip, sample, and buy North Texas's best homegrown spirits while learning some of the secrets of the craft of distilling magic.

- We will visit three distilleries and have a tasting at each of them.

- A fun and friendly distillery tour, we will meet a master distiller at one of the facilities we visit,

to provide expert information about fermentation, infusion, bottling, and distilling.

- Food - Distilleries generally do not have a kitchen; depending on your tour route, we will have food delivered or stop at a local place for lunch or dinner.

- Round trip transportation - the number of guests will determine the size of the vehicle. Let us know if you would like a party bus (at least 12 guests), and we can arrange that.

- Promotional pricing at some of the distilleries we visit if you decide to bring home some of the goodies.

The tour is four to five hours long, depending on your location (commuting takes time...). Whether you prefer vodka or small-batch bourbon, local honey-laced whiskey, or grapefruit- and pecan-infused gin, you've got your pick.

Bring out the whiskey connoisseur in you and tour Acre Distilling Co . located in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. The tour includes a tasting of seven distilled spirits from bourbon and single malt whiskey, to a variety of gins, flavored vodkas, and rum. Each guest will also receive a complimentary Acre rocks glass, and a 15 percent discount on any retail bottles purchased in the distillery bar and store.

2. Dallas Distillery and Brewery Tour

Skip the usual dive bar and take your whiskey cravings to Dallas Distillery and Brewery Tour . Their five-hour VIP tour includes transportation and free snacks. 4. Herman Marshall

Herman Marshall , which started operating in 2013 is owned by Herman Beckley and Marshall Louis. They are known for producing a bourbon made with Texas-grown corn, rye, and a single-malt whiskey. With their pure dedication to their craft, they won a bronze medal at the 2015 International Whiskey Competition with their Texas Bourbon .

5. Iron Root Republic

Owners Likarish brothers have a huge love and passion for spirits, thus their brand, the Iron Root Republic , crafting products while giving tribute to their Texas roots. Perfect example of their best whiskey produced is the Ironroot Republic Promethean Bourbon , a straight bourbon whiskey that won Gold at the 2017 Whiskies of the World Awards .

Tour is only available every Saturday starting 1 PM.

6. Trinity River Distillery

Founded in 2011, they welcome anyone who wants  to tour and learn how they produce their products at the distillery. All tours are $10 per person and include a tasting of their fine spirits.

7. Witherspoon Distillery Tours

Lewisville-based Witherspoon Distillery , the makers of the finest Texas Bourbon and rum also hosts a whiskey tour that lasts approximately 60 minutes. Tour includes a spirit tasting and a taste of their famous rum cake. This small batch craft distillery explains their spirits which covers all parts of the distilling process. Smack in the middle of Deep Ellum sits our tasting room. It’s part bar, part working distillery and 100% a damn good time. Drop-in for a shot, a flight, a few cocktails or some of our rotating vodka infusions — and grab a bottle or two to take home.
