This one was no exception. It’s a very good game, and if you like both Lara and endless runner games, you’ll fall in love with this one instantly. The game has beautiful graphics, easy controls and a great atmosphere!

Zombie Run 2

In this game you will be able to play as a zombie of your choice and run all throughout the maze, while being careful not to take a wrong turn or a fall into a trap.

The game is amazing, much like Zombie Run (the first), but I think this one is a little better! Because playing the bad guy or the monster is definitely fun every now and then.

A pretty simple and fun game, the classical endless runner game which will keep you busy constantly, watching your left and right in order to avoid any potential danger!

Despite its 2012 release, Final Fantasy Dimensions remains an enjoyable nostalgia trip to the classic Final Fantasy series . Set in an unnamed world, the King of Lux and the Avalon Empire each send a group of youngsters to the same crystal - an event that shatters the world in half. The two groups are separated and mixed into each other, becoming Warriors of Light and Darkness. Names, trends, and tropes in Final Fantasy Dimensions almost always have some Easter Egg connected to them that are primarily associated with pre-3D Final Fantasy titles.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy Pokemon on mobile devices, and these are some of the best ways to do it.

On top of its story, what makes Final Fantasy Dimensions rather compelling is its mobile adaptation of older mechanics. The game employs the Active Time Battle system, complete with the ever-filling gauge that dictates a character’s turn. Its Auto-Battle system can make fights more convenient, while the Job System from FF5 returns with certain Jobs specific to either Warrior group. Characters remain engaging throughout the story, especially when their initial dynamics are broken and they have to adjust to a new adventure with new companions.

3 Arknights

Deep post-apocalyptic narrative inside a tactical tower defense experience.

Players of Arknights take the role of the amnesiac Doctor, whose leadership of Rhodes Island is integral to its mission of finding a cure to the progressive disease Oripathy that is ravaging the current world. Unfortunately for the player and their Operators, various nefarious forces are scheming to take advantage of the chaos surrounding the world of Terra. This post-apocalyptic setup aside, Arknights' gameplay already has remarkable depth - it’s a grid-based tower defense title where “towers” take the form of Operators, all of which are organized into Roles with different combat effects as well as Specializations that determine their combat performance.

This deep gameplay is interspersed with solid world-building and character development. All characters in the game have some stake in the fate of Terra, especially in how Oripathy resulted in mutations that paved the way for interesting metacommentary. While some fans consider the main story flawed due to its lack of proper execution, Arknights contains one of the better-developed worlds among mobile-exclusive titles.

2 Octopath Traveler: Champions Of The Continent

Taking place prior to the events of the first Octopath Traveler game , Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent contains the same narrative depth as the titles in the series with a sprinkling of its character-collecting gacha elements. Players take the role of the Chosen One tasked to deliver a divine ring, encountering those who want to oppose the tyrannical rulers of Osterra hell-bent on wealth, fame, and power.

Gameplay in Champions of the Continent plays similarly to their original counterparts, with a deep focus on party management and skill optimization. However, where Champions of the Continent shines is its overarching narrative. As with other games in the series, there’s a heavy emphasis on the relationships among the Travelers, although these are contained in Side Stories and Traveler Stories in the mobile title. Meanwhile, the core story of Champions of the Continent is tied to two overarching Master and Bestower arcs, both of which contain individual chapters with themes surrounding Wealth, Power, Fame, and All.

1 Fate/Grand Order

A journey across timelines to prevent earth’s destruction, fate grand order.

While the Fate series within Type-Moon’s Nasuverse often revolves around a secret Holy Grail War and the fight for its wish-granting prize, the story of Fate/Grand Order ups the stakes by involving the very world itself. Players of the Fate/Grand Order story take the role of Ritsuka Fujimaru, a Master assigned by the Chaldea Security Organization to follow the Grand Order and stop the certain extinction of humankind. Throughout the story, Ritsuka and the Shielder Servant Mash visit different Singularities to stop temporal anomalies that spell certain doom for humanity.

Extensive chapters of Fate/Grand Order take their time fleshing out relationships between Servants and Heroic Spirits, resulting in narrative depth that properly builds up to grander climaxes in later Singularities and the game’s Lostbelt iteration. Servants that players collect also have rather complex stories, with the franchise adding unique “twists” to their real-world versions that players can enjoy reading in included texts, or even play out when they encounter their Servant’s respective interlude dungeons.

Mobile game ads are hard to miss nowadays, and some of them have become increasingly silly with strange narratives.

L ast weekend was the 35th anniversary of the original Game Boy, the fat little grey rectangle that was the first console to let you play decent games on holiday, assuming you could find enough AA batteries and exactly the right amount of light for its grey-green screen. The Game Boy was a coveted item in the school playground for me, but these days we all carry around super-powered gaming devices in our pockets. Playing something fun on the bog has never been easier.

And yet, what often happens when you innocently try to download an entertaining game for your phone is often no fun at all. You open your chosen app store, stare at 4,000 options all with practically identical thumbnail images, and choose something with a decent user rating, which then turns out to lock all of the actual fun behind paywalls. Either it’ll try to stealthily sign you up a £34.99 annual subscription after a five-day trial, or it’ll stop you playing more until you cough up to remove a timer, or – possibly worst of all – it’ll make you watch endless baffling video ads for other, even more horrible games.

There are still good games you can play on a mobile phone, if you know where to look. Apple has made a really big deal out of the gaming capabilities of the iPhone 15, on which you can play Resident Evil 4. (Whether you’d want to is another matter .) Its Apple Arcade subscription service (£6.99 a month) is full of greatest hits from the entire history of mobile gaming (such as Cut the Rope , Ridiculous Fishing and Sneaky Sasquatch ), alongside new, temptingly offbeat ones. What the Car is a work of comedy genius, Stardew Valley is a perennial farming-game hit, The Gardens Between (pictured above) is a touching sibling-story puzzle game that’s almost as good as Monument Valley , and Cooking Mama Cuisine got my seven-year-old son asking if we could make tonkatsu at home.

If you are a Netflix subscriber, meanwhile, you might not know that you also have access to a library of mobile games, and whoever’s in charge of the curation there has excellent taste. Bafta-winner Before Your Eyes is something everyone should play (not on the bus, though, it’s a crier). They’ve got mobile versions of all the classic Grand Theft Auto games. If you like more complex action games, meanwhile, Hades has you trying to escape hell as the king of the underworld’s son Zagreus , with the help of unsettlingly hot portrayals of the Greek gods. Fans of old point-n-click adventures will enjoy the magical-realist Kentucky Route Zero and post-climate-disaster tale Highwater . There are also decent games that tie into Netflix’s series, from The Queen’s Gambit to Stranger Things.

The nice thing about these subscription services is that they’re full of games chosen by actual humans, not algorithms. They take a lot of the guesswork out of finding something to play, and they’re mercifully free of aggressive monetisation. Fun, non-exploitative free games do exist, though, if you want something to dip into for a few minutes here and there: Alto’s Odyssey (pictured above) lets you surf soothingly across the desert, Marvel Snap has taken over the lives of every nerdy man of a certain age in my life, and after 12 years, the approachable and moreish mega-hit that is Candy Crush is still going strong (as are its slightly younger sister games, Candy Crush Soda and Farm Heroes ). You don’t get millions of people to match candies for over a decade by relentlessly exploiting them.

If all else fails: you’ve probably still got some iteration of the Game Boy languishing in a drawer or an attic box. The screen might be hilariously rubbish by today’s standards, but the games are still good – and unlike modern mobile devices, it’s built to last.

Best of all, there's a strong narrative, something often overlooked in card-battling games.

Wildfrost is a roguelike game, so don't expect to beat the game your first time through. You probably won't beat it on your second try either, as Wildfrost is just as unforgiving for beginners as it is for experts. Don't get discouraged; Wildfrost offers a massive amount of strategic depth, so you'll never feel like you're railroaded into a specific strategy for each boss.

Hamster Inn is a low-stress management simulator that is the perfect game to wind down with at the end of the day. It's a perfect mix of active and passive gameplay, so you can wake up each day ready to spend more money on renovations and guests.

3 AFK Journey

AFK Journey stands out from the crowd of idle gacha games by offering a beautiful art style and genuinely rewarding gameplay. The huge range of game modes is the most compelling about AFK Journey. Even if you don't engage in the idle mechanics (although it's recommended as you'll struggle to progress later in the game without them), there are PvP and PvE game modes to earn new heroes and equipment. Sometimes, you don't want to delve into dungeons of horrifying monsters, but it's undeniable that a malevolent antagonist makes any game much more compelling. Lonesome Village is a puzzle/adventure game where you'll solve puzzles to rescue villagers from a spooky tower. While there is a distinct threat to the well-being of your town, the overall experience is relaxed from start to finish.

Lonesome Village is the perfect game for you if you enjoy puzzle games but want to feel like there are consequences to your actions. The more villagers you rescue, the more your time comes to life, giving you a distinct feeling of accomplishment as you play.

5 Dadish 3D

The classic mobile platformer in 3d.

The Dadish games have long been some of our favorite platformers at AP, and now the series has jumped into the third dimension. It's reminiscent of classic 3D platformers thanks to its cheerful, low-poly graphics, but plenty of collectibles and achievements will keep you occupied as you adventure through 50 levels.

We recommend Dadish 3D even if you're a 2D platformer purist. It keeps everything we love about the Dadish games, and the 3D element is more than just a gimmick. But if you're not sold, try some of our other favorite platformers on Android .
