About Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era. Her music has won her 5 GRAMMY® Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a nomination for an Academy Award along with dozens of American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. She has received accolades as an actress as well including the NAACP Best Supporting Actor award. Janet is a published author, dancer, businessperson, philanthropist and one of biggest-selling artists in popular music history. With sales of over 180 million records worldwide, Janet Jackson stands as one of the best-selling artists of all time with a string of hits that have left an indelible impression on pop culture. She is the record holder for the biggest selling debut tour in history and is the first woman to debut in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 charts. She also stands as one of only four artists to have a #1 album for four successive decades alongside Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen and U2. Even today she continues to make an undeniable impact. In 2018, her last single, “Made for Now” with Daddy Yankee, released by her own Rhythm Nation Records, hit #1 on the Dance Clubs Songs chart making it her 20th single on the chart in the span of her career. In 2019, she was inducted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside her brothers and in that same year her critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Metamorphosis” closed out to record breaking ticket sales with only 18 dates at the Park MGM’s Park Theater. As reported by Billboard Boxscore, the legendary singer, dancer, songwriter, producer, and actress is among the biggest Vegas performers of this decade, ahead of Celine Dion (2011), Britney Spears (2013) and the Backstreet Boys (2017). Her critically acclaimed and award winning documentary “Janet Jackson.” brought in over 20 million viewers in one week.

On February 4, 2021, Janet Jackson’s iconic mega platinum-selling third album Control turned 35. The album also returned to the top of the charts, hitting #1 on the Apple Top 40 US Pop Album chart. Led by five chart-busting hit singles — “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Control,” “When I Think Of You,” —with their complementary, tightly choreographed music videos — and “Let’s Wait Awhile,” Control became Jackson’s first No. 1 Pop album. The album also made Billboard chart history for having the longest continuous run on the Hot 100 with singles from one album, ultimately tallying a remarkable 65 consecutive weeks from that perch. To date, Control has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

About Chris “Ludacris” Bridges

The career of the multi-talented CHRIS “LUDACRIS” BRIDGES can best be described as remarkable. As a recording artist, he has sold more than 24 million albums worldwide, thanks to the blockbuster success of such singles as “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Southern Hospitality,” “Number One Spot,” “Money Maker” and “My Chick Bad.” All of these records were accompanied by ingenious videos that demonstrated Bridges’ far-reaching imagination, and his willingness to stretch the boundaries of what rap videos should look and feel like.

With an unrivaled match of lyrical acumen, wit, and imagery, Ludacris has solidified himself as one of music’s premier entertainers. His versatility and artistic complexity also enabled him to make a seamless transition to acting, including the fan favorite role of “Tej” in Universal Pictures’ box office phenomenon Fast & Furious franchise where he was introduced for the first time in 2003 in 2 Fast 2 Furious.  He will reprise his role of “Tej” for the seventh time in Fast X, which is set to release May 20, 2023.

His other notable feature film credits include Garry Marshall’s ensemble comedy New Year’s Eve, Ivan Reitman’s romantic comedy, No Strings Attached, Paul Higgin’s Crash which received an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2006 and Hustle & Flow which earned Bridges a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

As a father of four girls, his latest ventures fittingly include launching his educational platform devoted to the enrichment of children called “KidNation”.  In addition, Bridges created the animated series KARMA’S WORLD which launched in the Top 10 in 42 countries on Netflix, received two NAACP Award nominations and is already on its fourth season.  The series for children ages 6-9 is a coming-of-age story about a young Black girl finding her voice and using it to change her world — originally inspired by Chris’s oldest daughter Karma and based on the interactive educational website of the same name created by Karma’s World Entertainment in 2009.

A consummate businessman, Ludacris is enjoying success outside of entertainment. One of his most successful ventures includes opening his long-anticipated restaurant “Chicken-n-Beer” at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport with a new location opening at LAX in 2023.

Bridge’s philanthropic efforts rival his entertainment accomplishments. He started The Ludacris Foundation in 2001 which focuses on helping the youth in his hometown of Atlanta and has partnered with No Kid Hungry and Feeding America.

Janet Jackson's sexy, powerful Phoenix performance proves she's still the Queen of Pop

janet jackson tour images

It’s been 37 years since Janet Jackson staked her claim as a pop icon in the making with “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” the first of six hit singles from “Control,” an aptly titled breakthrough album she released at 19 as the youngest member of the Jackson family.

Four years later, she became the only artist in the history of the Hot 100 to land seven singles from one album ("Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814") in the Top 5.

And the hits kept coming well into this century.

By any reasonable standard, she remains one of the most successful pop stars of her generation, a point made abundantly clear in the breathless journey Jackson took through many of the highlights of her catalog at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre on Wednesday, June 7.

Weekend plans? These are the best things to do in Phoenix this weekend

It was immediately clear that Janet Jackson has still got the moves

The Together Again Tour, named for one of 10 songs Jackson took to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, drew a huge crowd to the outdoor venue, where she made her entrance in a hooded purple cloak and set the tone for her performance with “Damita Jo,” the title track to a triple-platinum triumph from 2004.

It wasn’t long before she lost the cloak to reveal a glittering gold catsuit with a purple bow around the waist as she moved quickly through the first of four acts flanked by four male dancers.

At 57, she’s still got the moves, leading her dancers through the sort of choreography she’s taught us to expect from a night out with Janet.

Or Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty.

And she sounded great, although her vocals did get overpowered in the mix at times — this despite the fact that she often appeared to be relying heavily on piped-in vocal tracks.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour: 5 magic moments at State Farm Stadium that Arizonans saw first

Act II went heavy on 'Control,' including 'Nasty' and 'Let's Wait Awhile'

The second act went heavy on “Control,” from the hard-hitting digital R&B groove of “What Have You Done For Me Lately,” “When I Think of You” and “Nasty” to “Let’s Wait Awhile,” the soulful ballad for which Jackson took a seat.

By that point, the musicians in her touring band had emerged from the shadows, allowing the fans to see that she wasn’t just singing along to prerecorded tracks.

After letting the audience handle the vocals on “Again,” she brought the concert’s second act to a steamy conclusion by giving her dancers a chair dance while performing “I Get Lonely.”

Act III highlights ranged from two chart-topping singles released at the turn of the century, “Doesn’t Really Matter” and “All For You,” to a suitably erotic “So Excited,” which she prefaced by her telling her fans “Y’all got me so excited up here.”

Janet Jackson rocked a Rhythm Nation T-shirt for the final act

For the fourth and final act, Jackson returned to the stage in a “Rhythm Nation” T-shirt and jacket and put the spotlight squarely on that classic album, from “The Knowledge” to all four singles that she took to No. 1 before bringing the set to a triumphant finish with the title track.

That last act also featured her iconic older brother, Michael Jackson, in the video to “Scream.”

She signed off with a one-song encore, singing “Together Again” one final time.

By that point, she’d done roughly 40 songs in a nearly two-hour performance, from giant hits to album tracks, including several songs she hadn’t performed before this tour.

Many songs were featured in abbreviated versions or medleys, the better to cover more ground, an approach that kept things moving like a halftime show while also serving as a breathtaking reminder of just what a cultural force she’s been for nearly 40 years.

And speaking of halftime show performances, it may be time the NFL considered having Jackson back to headline her own halftime show at next year’s Super Bowl. She’s clearly got the hits — and moves — to turn in one of the more memorable shows in recent memory.

Who is opening for Janet Jackson's 2023 tour?

DJ Infamous Talk2Me got the party started, spinning classic tracks from Prince’s “Kiss” to the Sugarhill Gang’s “Apache” and the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.”

He also called for a moment of silence to honor Tina Turner, whose death inspired a heartfelt tribute at the Lizzo show in Phoenix , where the singer shouted, "Without Tina Turner, there would be no rock 'n' roll," before leading her band in a raucous cover of "Proud Mary."

At the end of his set, DJ Infamous Talk2Me welcomed Ludacris to the stage for a wildly entertaining opening set that hit the ground running with “Southern Fried Intro.”

Two songs in, he greeted the crowd with “I go by the name of Ludacris and I just want to say, humbly speaking, I was born to be on this stage.” And with that, he was off on a fast-rapping trip through his catalog, from “Act a Fool” and “Southern Hospitality” to “What’s Your Fantasy” and “Stand Up.”

That last one found Ludacris prowling the stage in giant sneakers, saying, “Don’t act like y’all didn’t see these big-ass shoes.”

On “Ludaversal,” he shouted “I’m as hungry as the first day,” and that’s exactly how it felt as he delivered on his promise to “give you the show of a lifetime celebrating 23 years of platinum hits.”

Janet Jackson Is Still Nasty After All These Years

By Brittany Spanos

Brittany Spanos

Madison Square Garden in New York was a party on Monday night. That’s because Janet Jackson had taken over the arena for the first of two shows on her Together Again Tour . As the audience waited for the show to begin, the DJ got the energy up as he pumped kickback classics like Faith Evans’ “Love Like This” and, of course, some Jackson 5.

Ludacris opened, serving as a surprisingly fitting special guest. The conceit of his set was not knowing if the crowd was really full of “day-one Luda fans,” which is a hard thing for any millennial (or older member of the crowd) to not be. He ran through a verse or two of his biggest hits and guest spots — “Act a Fool,’ “Area Codes,” Fergie’s “Glamorous,” Lil Jon’s “Lovers & Friends” — pulling out his oversize sneakers for “Stand Up” and his fake big arms for “Get Back.” The crowd went especially wild for his iconic “Yeah!” verse and closer “Move Bitch.”

The concert’s first act was a surprising run of material, including the first of three versions of “Together Again” she would perform throughout the night. The song is the tour’s namesake and helps mark the 25th anniversary of The Velvet Rope ; it’s also a powerful single about unity, inspired by her suddenly losing a friend from complications due to AIDS. Its many remixes and iterations served as a great through line for the show.

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

The transition between “acts” showed the biggest glaring issue of the night: As she and her quartet of male dancers went backstage to change, the audience was left to stare for several minutes at pretty boring screen visuals (or nothing at all) while the music continued. It slowed the show down significantly, mellowing the high of getting to see Jackson live, in the flesh.

Act II got the energy back up, as Jackson blazed through Eighties hits like “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” and “The Pleasure Principle.” She still dances with the type of effortless, sweat-free ease that’s made her such a standout in all eras of her career. Some audience members saw their muscle memory activate as they themselves imitated the video choreography that was inescapable on MTV so many decades ago.

For Jackson’s final act, she returned to the stage in a “Rhythm Nation” shirt before running through several songs from the classic 1989 album. The only divergence was for “Scream,” her hit 1995 duet with late brother Michael, though she brought it back to Rhythm Nation by mashing it up with a bit of “Black Cat.”

The encore began from backstage, as the camera caught Jackson singing while getting makeup touchups, then followed her back to the stage. Appropriately, the final song was another “Together Again,” this time the originally released version of the track. Jackson and her dancers joyfully ran around the stage, the most she let her diva-focused facade crack all night. They were even joined by four new dancers, two of whom won the opportunity to be onstage with her on an earlier episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was the end of a ruthlessly packed greatest-hits set, that even with the nearly 40 songs she ran through still left room for wanting more. Luckily, it doesn’t seem like Ms. Jackson is letting up anytime soon.

Janet Jackson Kicked Off Her Together Again Tour in Custom Valentino

The legendary songstress wore a parade of show-stopping looks.

janet jackson tour images

Janet Jackson  kicked off her highly anticipated Together Again tour over the weekend, and she made her return to the stage one to remember with a mix of custom designer looks and ones with nostalgic references.

The music legend and style icon performed a 40-song setlist of her biggest hits after almost four years since her last tour. She styled her hair in a slicked-back high ponytail and sartorially paid homage to some of her classics through her looks. Jackson wore a black ultra-cropped Rhythm Nation T-shirt, in tribute to the track on her fourth studio album, Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 . The star teamed her statement piece with high-waisted dark wash baggy denim jeans, a black belt with a silver buckle and a black bodysuit underneath.

For her more theatrical costumes, Jackson wore custom looks from Italian fashion house Valentino . Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli designed ensembles specifically for both Jackson and her dancers. One included a regal Valentino hooded cloak in a vibrant shade of wisteria purple with bronze sequin detailing on the inside, styled by Laurel Thomson.

The five-time Grammy winner then switched into a head-to-toe bronze sequin long-sleeve bodysuit with strong padded shoulders and a mock neckline, also from Valentino. In keeping with the notes of bright purple, her dancers wore bold purple get-ups, and Jackson complimented them with a matching bow tied around her waist. The “I Get Lonely” singer paired her catsuit with matching sparkling gold Christian Louboutin knee-high boots.

Jackson continued to dance the night away in black tapered trousers and a shimmering black-and-white striped long-sleeve turtleneck sweater, while her dancers dressed as competitive fencers.

“We had so much fun last night… so good to see all of u!” Jackson wrote on Instagram .

Next month, the superstar is auctioning off over 800 items from her personal treasure trove with Julien’s auction house and donating a portion of the proceeds to the child advocacy group, Compassion International . The assortment will include some of her most recognizable ensembles from fan-favorite music videos, custom stage costumes, bedazzled microphones and even her 2003 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.

The auction will take place at the Hard Rock Café in New York and online at Julien’s Live beginning on May 21,  according to the auction house .

During Jackson’s encore performance of “Together Again,”Jones joined her onstage. “I would love for you to join me,” Jackson told Jones a few months ago while promoting her tour on the morning program. “You should.”

Fast-forward to this weekend, when Jackson gave Jones a backstage tour and a rare interview reflecting on her life, career and upcoming documentary, which will include footage from the Together Again tour.

“Maybe it’s because I’m not as shy as I used to be,” Jackson said of her decision to document this phase of her journey. “I’m a little bit more open to sharing more in my life than I ever did before.”

“When I was in high school, I had pictures of news anchors on one wall, and then I had pictures of Janet Jackson on another ... and when I was in seventh grade, I would make up dances to Janet. And so to be on that stage last night, it was ... surreal.”

Jackson’s Together Again tour encompasses more than 30 cities across the United States and Canada, including five stops in California. The veteran musician is scheduled to come to Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, Highland and Mountain View in June.

On June 10, Jackson will headline opening night of the Hollywood Bowl’s 2023 season with support from Ludacris and members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s youth orchestra.

Janet Jackson (born May 16, 1966) is one of the world’s most successful American R&B/pop singer-songwriters. Born the youngest of nine Jackson siblings, she proved the only one to break out of Michael Jackson’s shadow releasing a string of successful albums and singles, hailing from Gary, Indiana, U.S.

By the time Janet Jackson was born in 1966, her sibling band the Jackson 5 had already begun performing together. The young singer would later make her debut with the band at the age of seven, later joining the cast of the TV sitcom “Good Times” at the age of 10. Further TV appearances followed including “Different Strokes” and “A New Kind of Family”, before under pressure from her father released her self-titled debut album in 1982. A second studio album “Dream Street” followed in 1984 matching the disappointment of its predecessor, after which she hired a new manger John McCain and underwent dancing lessons.

Having collaborated with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in the studio, Jackson released her third studio album, “Control”, in 1982. Catapulting the singer to Pop Icon status, and promoting Jackson as a strong minded, responsible young woman, the record was a smash hit, topping the Billboard 200 upon release. Spawning the Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 singles “What Have You Done for Me Lately”, “Nasty”, “When I Think of You”, “Control”, and “Let’s Wait Awhile”, the album went on to sell over 14 million copies worldwide.

The success of the album meant it became a tough act to follow, and, reluctant to overtly sell her sexuality opted for a more socially conscious, romantic album with 1989’s “Rhythm Nation 1814”. Spawning four No. 1 singles “Miss You Much”, “Escapade”, “Black Cat”, and “Love Will Never Do (Without You)”, the record featured high-quality production, generous samples and was supported by the singer’s first major tour.

Following the release Jackson signed with Virgin Records, in a deal reportedly worth $32 million, and duetted with Luther Vandross on the single “The Best Things in Life Are Free”. Far removed from her previous public image, Jackson’s 1993 album “janet.” showcased a sexy and alluring singer, epitomised by her ‘revealing’ Rolling Stone Magazine cover. Featuring Jam and Lewis at the production reigns once again, the album was led by Jackson’s biggest single to date “That’s the Way Love Goes”, which was held aloft the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. In 1995 the singer collaborated with her brother Michael on the single “Scream”, which later resulted in the most expensive music video of all time, but only rose to No. 5 in the pop charts.

After singing another deal with Virgin worth $80 million, the singer released the full-length “The Velvet Rope” in 1997. Marked by Jackson’s newfound sexuality as well as the social consciousness promoted on “Rhythm Nation”, the record earned mixed reviews however spawned the No. 1 single “Together Again”. In support of the record Jackson embarked on another worldwide tour and remained in the charts with the duet “What’s It Gonna Be?!” with Busta Rhymes and “Doesn’t Really Matter”. The full-length “All for You” arrived in 2001 once again finding itself at the top of the Billboard 200 and was led by the No. 1 titled track.

Following a “wardrobe malfunction” at the Super Bowl XXXVIII, Jackson became America’s focal talking point, and raised a national debate on public indecency. At the same time the singer issued her eighth studio album “Damita Ja” in 2004 featuring production from Jam and Lewis, Kanye West, Dallas Austin, and Just Blaze. Due to the Super Bowl incident a host of media outlets refused to play the album’s singles which resulted in significantly lower album sales compared to predecessors. In 2006 Jackson released the full-length “20 Y.O.” led by the singles “Call on Me” and “So Excited”, which was followed by the singer’s 10th studio album “Discipline” in 2008.

Live reviews

Any fan of pop music cannot go wrong in attending a Janet Jackson performance. Of course music is the central focus at any concert, but if you go to one of Janet's shows you are going to get a hell of a lot more than that. She is simply a spectacle to watch.

Her vocals are so precise that they sound as though they have been lifted straight from her albums (and no she does not lip-synch). Her dance moves are absolutely out of this world. She jerks around in a nearly mechanical manner, testing the limits of the human body. Some of her choreographed routines seem to an extent inhuman and these rigid robotic-like convulsions seem to fit in beautifully with the technopolis style set design. The flashing lights and the illuminated LED screens projecting images so fast you think you are going to have a seizure really accent the futuristic look of the mis-en-scene.

And don't even get me started on Janet's vast and immensely stylish fashion. She may not change costumes as much as her more histrionic contemporaries, but the outfits she does choose could not complement her dance style and set design more. She is typically seen sporting a homogenous colored outfit (usually in a classic white or black), which is incredibly sleek looking. Her jackets fit tightly around the waist and often are lined with dominant looking shoulder pads that create an extreme dynamic look. Again her acute choice of clothes really enhances the power of her dance performance. Her dance performances also pair nicely with her music often mirroring the message or themes of the song. From a pop star at the caliber of Janet, it is without doubt that you will experience a hit laden night. She will take you through her immense catalogue and sound, performing slowed down ballads like "Again", slowed down jams like "Any Time, Any Place", old school breakbeats "Rhythm Nation" and electro-club tracks like "Feedback". Whatever song you do hear it will be absolutely astonishing.

The show was 7 out of 10. It was a solid performance from an artist trying to hit all the highlights of a 30-year career.

Janet was very present for his show. You could see it in her face and hear it in her voice, which was as good as ever. She got choked up a couple of times during her sit-down set.

She used a full band as back up which, along with a dance troop that really got into it, kept the energy strong. There was only 1 true intermission with 2 other breaks at about 2 minutes each. She was on stage for nearly two hours and did not let up once. The lack of costume changes helped keep things moving.

The set was minimal but functional. It set a nice tone for the show and made good use of the smaller stage. Set pieces that I thought were just for show turned out to be integral to several songs.

A few point off though:

1) I am not a fan of medleys and this show was comprised almost entirely of them. Most songs were 2-3 minutes long that all flowed from one to another with a few around 4. None were the full versions - trust me, I know my Janet - and none presented interpretations that moved me, though as I said the energy was certainly there.

2) The Bill Graham Center has average sound and acoustics but it was made worse by the oversaturated base which drowned out her voice in several songs.

3) No opening act. The DJ that was used instead was OK but because of #2, I couldn't enjoy the music he was playing.

Janet's concert was awesome. My 24 yr. old son and I never sat for even a minute. It started off with her DJ which was a great build up to her coming on stage. The DJ was fantastic.

I saw her Blackcat Tour and she still has the same energy now that she had back then. Her dancers were fabulous to watch and of course being from Edmonton it was great to see she even had a young dancer from Edmonton that was a great dancer. We were very impressed.

She has not aged a bit still looking fabulous. We wee not disappointed at all. It was worth every cent we paid and then some. As soon as we got in we were so happy to purchases T-shirts and a book. I also pre-ordered her soon to be released new Album and look forward to receiving it.

Unfortunately I did not check my emails otherwise we would have known about the museum that was there and could have potentially upgraded our seats. But it was fine as we had floor seats row 9 so we were not disappointed.

If she ever comes back on Tour again to Edmonton we will definitely go again.

Janet Jackson still rules in the music industry and she is as beautiful as ever. Great show, great band, back up dancers, singers and DJ.

No one could possibly be disappointed and if they are they have issues. I would highly recommend any that is a JJ fan to not miss this Unbreakable tour.

Janet is back and doing her thang.

The Jackson name has been carved into popular culture and music over the past 60 years. After her siblings made up The Jackson 5 and the unbelievable solo success of her brother ‘king of pop’ Michael. Being born into such a family it was only fitting that Janet would follow in their footsteps and make her own career in the music industry.

She has won 5 Grammy award as a recording artist and has also enjoyed success as an actress. Despite not hitting the legendary heights of her brother Michael she has no doubt enjoyed an extremely successful career. I mean extremely! To date she has sold over 140million records! She hit the bit time after the release of her 3rd album ‘Control’ this album was a big change and showed more maturity. Many of her track are provocative to say the least, but what do you expect from a women who quickly became one of the biggest sex symbols in the world.

She is well know for her live performances, many of them extremely elaborate. She certainly takes after her brother Michael for being an entertainer. Larger than life, a superb dancer, powerful vocals and flawless stage presence made her the complete package as a live act. With great tracks like “Together Again”, “Nasty” and “That’s The Way Love Goes” to name a few, she is most definitely an act to see!

The youngest Jackson is known for her diva personality and evocative pop/R & B sounds yet many people do not realise the quiet power within Janet Jackson's vocal. It can be absolutely triumphant and fragile within the space of two verses and shows incredible versatility for a singer heading towards her 50s.

The last stop off in the UK was Janet's way of showcasing the vocal side of her music as she played two sell out nights in the Royal Albert Hall. It is a lavish affair from the offset which a huge selection of musicians and dancers adorning the stage before the lady of the hour appear in a dance class style outfit alluding to a lot of movement. She runs through reworked and reimagined versions of pop hits including 'Control' and 'Nasty' and although this is a different tone to what is usually displayed at the Albert Hall, it goes over just as well. There are video interludes, great dance routines and of course those timeless hits with the most prolific 'Rhythm Nation' finishing the show in a huge way.

Far from being overcast by the phenomenal shadow of her pop superstar and musical legend brother Michael, Janet Jackson has evolved into a superstar in her own right. Having amassed an incredible five Grammy awards over her career as a singer, Janet Jackson is every bit the musical icon. It was only fitting that she would pave her way into the music industry, what with the Jackson Five and Michael having already cemented their positions in the industry, but you will see just why Janet deserves her own special place in the industry when you watch her perform live. Janet has an incredible set of lungs on her and every stage show is a spectacle: she wows the audience with her moves, accompanied by a whole host of backing dancers, with flashy gimmicks that add to the entertainment feel of her shows, and with her huge setlist of hits. From ballads like "Again", to slowed down tunes such as "Any Time, Any Place" and club hits like "Feedback", Janet never fails to entertain and amaze.

Janet was fire! The show kicked off with her latest single BURNITUP! and was magic from then on. The hits just kept coming, from What Have You Done for Me Lately to Control, Alright, Miss You Much, Rhythm Nation, Black Cat, Best Things in Life are Free, That's the Way Love Goes, If, Again, Scream, Got Til it's Gone...you get the idea, my girl's a hit maker! One of the best moments was the way the song Together Again was reworked. I remember that version that was done on the American Music Awards show some years ago. Janet looks great, sounds great (yes she sung live!) & danced like it was 1989! I plan on seeing this show again!

The show was GREAT!! I had a wonderful time! Janet & I r the same age, & our bdays r almost on the SAME day, (I'm on May 13th!) She was AWESOME, showing them young kids-her dancers & some of the audience members how it's DONE! I noticed she didn't sing "Anytime, anyplace," or even the routine w/the holding device & a guy from the audience-"Would u mind?" Guess she's OVER that, now that she's a Momma & I can certainly respect that! LUV Janet! She was the very 1st concert I went 2 n the 80's @ The Forum n Inglewood, CA! She STILL got it!!

Janet concert was GREAT as always. Janet had great energy, great dancers, band was awesome it was amazing. This is my 5th Janet concert it and it measured up to all of them.

The only issue I had was the DJ this guy was terrible! From his glitter hat to his choice of music. He needs to learn the game you never play the artist music back to back heck that's all he played when she was getting ready to perfume the same songs it was annoying. He would mix her songs with beats from Drake to Fetty Wap a bit annoying lose the DJ Janet!!!!!

That moment will you realize that Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson are really two different people but then you close your eyes and in the same moment realize maybe not...

Janet was Ah-Mazing...she is flawless and talented as ever...she sang and danced the entire time and didnt bat an eye or puff a breath...she made it look effortless as always...basically she's the Janet that you have always known because she's obviously best friends with Time because he stopped it for her!!!

Janet Jackson Says She Almost Played An Iconic Movie Role That Ultimately Went to Halle Berry

Jackson had to turn the part down because she was heading out on tour.

Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson has starred in five films—from Poetic Justice in 1993 to 2010’s For Colored Girls —but almost had one more film credit to add to her roster: 2000’s X-Men , where Jackson was offered the role of Storm for the franchise. That role eventually went to Halle Berry, and Jackson said she had to turn it down because of tour obligations , she said on The Drew Barrymore Show .

Janet Jackson

Jackson, seen here on her current tour, said tour obligations back in 2000 prevented her from taking on the role of Storm in "X-Men."

Jackson offered up this detail after she was asked if she was almost cast in 1999’s The Matrix —the question stemming off of a photo of her from the same year where she wore an all-black ensemble, leather trench coat included, evoking the movie. That’s when Jackson revealed that it was X-Men (and not The Matrix ) that she was almost a part of, but couldn’t do it “because I was just embarking on the Janet tour,” she said.

Janet Jackson

Jackson has starred in five films, including her movie debut "Poetic Justice" in 1993, directed by John Singleton.

Berry went on to play Storm in not just the 2000 film but also 2003’s X2 , 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand , and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past . “I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm,” Berry told Vanity Fair in 2021, adding that she would revisit playing the role “if we could find a version that would make sense, or a storyline that would make sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”

Halle Berry

The role of Storm ultimately went to Berry, and she starred in four films for the franchise.

On The Drew Barrymore Show , as Jackson revealed a part she didn’t take, so did the show’s host—Barrymore revealed that she was in the running for a role in 1997’s Boogie Nights , starring Mark Wahlberg and Julianne Moore. “I think that’s when I went and did Ever After ,” she said, adding, “I went in a very different direction.”

Janet Jackson

Jackson said she'd be open to starring in another film.

Barrymore’s co-host Ross Matthews told Jackson “I love you in movies” before asking her “Would you ever do another one?”

Jackson smiled and responded, “Sure, I would. For sure.”

Janet Jackson

Jackson is currently in rehearsals for her Together Again tour.

It might have to wait, though—earlier this month, Jackson confirmed on The Tonight Show to host Jimmy Fallon that she’s in rehearsals for the upcoming dates of her global Together Again tour.

Janet Jackson was nearly one of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes. The pop star recently appeared on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” where she revealed that she almost played Storm in “X-Men.”

Jackson was asked by Barrymore and Ross Mathews about a rumor that she almost starred in “The Matrix,” to which she replied, “No,” per The Hollywood Reporter. While Jackson said she could not remember the title of the film, she knows who went on to play the role.

“It was … this is horrible,” the “Poetic Justice” star said. “I can’t remember the film, but Halle Berry played Storm.” Barrymore then shouted, “X-Men?!’”

“I couldn’t because I was just embarking on the Janet tour,” the “Someone to Call My Lover” singer continued. “But I think that’s what you’re confusing it with. It wasn’t ‘The Matrix.’”

Berry went on to play the role in multiple films, including the acclaimed sequel “X2″’ and the follow up “X-Men: The Last Stand,” as well as the eventual time-traveling epic “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

In addition to her incomparable music career, Jackson has acted in various films during her career, including classics like “Poetic Justice,” “Nutty Professor II: The Klumps,” “Why Did I Get Married?” and more.

She is gearing up for another leg of her “Together Again” tour. Kicking off this June, Nelly will join the “Rhythm Nation” singer for a 35-date run. TheGrio caught its first sold-out leg last year, calling it “an affirmation of [Janet’s] place in music history and a sign that she has more to add to her legacy and to keep the bar high for live concerts.”

Janet Jackson Reveals She Almost Played Halle Berry's X-Men Role but Had to Tour Instead

Janet Jackson said she was offered the part of Storm in the ‘X-Men’ franchise

20th Century Fox;Getty

Janet Jackson almost took Hollywood by storm.

The Grammy-winning singer revealed she was once offered the role of superhero Storm in the big-screen adaptations of Marvel’s X-Men comics, as a preview clip from the Friday, April 26, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show indicates.

“I can’t remember the film but —  Halle Berry played Storm,” Jackson, 57, told hosts Drew Barrymore and Ross Matthews in response to being asked if she was almost cast in 1999’s The Matrix .

“But I couldn’t” accept the part, she added, “because I was just embarking on the Janet tour.”

Barrymore, 49, and Matthews, 44, were asking Jackson about a picture of her circa 1999 in which she wore an all-black ensemble including a leather trench coat. But it was 2000’s X-Men rather than The Matrix that she almost joined instead.

Berry, 57, played the iconic superhero in the comics-to-movie adaptations X-Men , 2003’s X2 , 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past .

The franchise also starred Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, James Marsden as Cyclops, Anna Paquin as Rogue, and more.

“ X-Men !” exclaimed Barrymore, who then revealed another missed casting connection, that she herself was in contention for a role in 1997’s Mark Wahlberg and Julianne Moore movie Boogie Nights . “I think it’s when I went and did Ever After . I went in a very different direction.”

In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair , Berry revealed that she would “absolutely” revisit playing her X-Men character.

“I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm,” she said at the time. “If we could find a version that would make sense, or a storyline that would make sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”

While Jackson is known primarily for her music, the “Rhythm Nation” singer has starred as an actress in Poetic Justice, The Nutty Professor: The Klumps , and the Why Did I Get Married films, as well as the sitcom Good Times .

“I love you in movies,” Matthews told Jackson in the preview clip. “Would you ever do another one?”

Jackson smiled and responded, “Sure, I would. For sure.”

Her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show follows her stopping by The Tonight Show on April 12 to crash host Jimmy Fallon ’s opening monologue. Jackson confirmed on the show that she’s in rehearsals for the upcoming dates of her global Together Again Tour .

Janet Jackson and Drew Barrymore Reveal Surprising Movie Roles They Passed Up

Janet Jackson is looking back on her film career and there's one role she admits she wishes she didn't pass on.

On Thursday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show , the GRAMMY-winning singer sat down with Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews -- after making a surprise entrance.

After the shock wore off, the "Rhythm Nation" singer sat down with the hosts, where she revealed that she almost played an iconic superhero.

As a picture of Jackson in an all-leather look from the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards (that included a cleavage-bearing trench coat) Mathews asked if she was set to appear in The Matrix .

"No," Jackson replied, adding that she couldn't remember the film but did know the actress who got the role after she turned it down.

"It was, this is horrible," Jackson expressed. "I can't remember the film but Halle Berry played Storm."

" X-Men ," Barrymore exclaimed.

"I couldn't, because I was just embarking on the Janet tour," Jackson added. "But I think that's what you're confusing it with. It wasn't the The Matrix ."

Berry played the iconic superhero in the film adaptations of the comic book, X-Men , X2 , X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past .

Over the course of her career, Jackson has famously starred on the sitcom Good Times, and such films as Poetic Justice , The Nutty Professor: The Klumps , and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married, and Why Did I Get Married TOO?

Barrymore, who was a fellow child star, shared that there was one big role that she didn't take, because she went on to star in another film -- that was a different direction.

"It's so hard when you like are thinking of doing a film and then you don't end up doing it," Barrymore said. "I have so many of those experiences. I've never said this out loud, Boogie Nights . There was a moment where we were talking about Boogie Nights  and I think it's when I went and did Ever After [A Cinderella Story] and I went in a very different direction."

Boogie Nights starred Mark Wahlberg as adult film star Dirk Diggler. The film also starred Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds and Heather Graham. Barrymore did not share which role she was considering.

While it's been over a decade since Jackson appeared on the big screen, she's not opposed to making her return.

When asked if she would return to film, Jackson replied, "I would for sure."

In the meantime, Jackson, 57, is set to embark on tour starting in June. Last year, ET spoke with Jackson as she celebrated 50 years in the music industry.

"I started young but it means a great deal to me to still have God allow me to do what it is that I do," she said. "I'm so appreciative. And for the people to still be interested to come and see what it is that I do, that we do. I'm very, very fortunate and very appreciative."

Janet Jackson Hampir Gabung X-Men, Jadi Siapa?

Diva pop itu pun langsung menjelaskan jika dia memang sempat hampir bermain film yang akhirnya diperankan oleh Halle Berry namun ia tak ingat judulnya. Ia hanya ingat jika dirinya ditawari menjadi Storm, mutan yang memiliki kekuatan untuk mengatur cuaca.

"X-Men?" tanya Drew Barrymore.

Namun sebelum itu ia harusnya menggarap X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) yang akhirnya digantikan Brett Ratner.
