Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality regional South African wines. Journey’s End is a Gabb Family cellar cradled in the foothills of the Hottentot Mountains, overlooking stunning False Bay. Here lies a winelands paradise blessed with great views, a great climate and an abundance of indigenous bird and plant life.

The Wild Child Grenache originates from coastal vineyards resting on a sparsely populated, arid and wild terrain. Vines averaging more than 20 years old have been handpicked in the coolness of early morning. The carefully sorted fruit then crushed, enjoys three hours of skin contact followed by a controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a small portion fermented in 300 litre oak barrels for added complexity. This unique rosé was carefully crafted with an abundance of strawberry, luscious cherry, and raspberry flavours. The Wild Child also delivers subtle rose petal undertones and hints of peach with the touch of oak providing a balanced and rounded structure on the palate.

Best enjoyed chilled either on its own or with food, especially during the summer season with alfresco dining and in a convivial atmosphere.

Garnet ruby red in colour. The bouquet shows a complex bouquet of rich dark red fruit aromas like dark plums, black cherries and some earthiness. These aromas are also experienced on the palate and are accompanied by sweet tobacco and Christmas cake characters. Well-integrated tannic structure gives a generous finish.

Located in Stellenbosch, with vineyards adjacent to Vergelegen and Morgenster, Journey’s End is right at the heart of one of the cape’s most exciting terroirs. Our coastal location benefits from cooling winds coming off the Atlantic ocean, helping to create wines with great elegance and natural acidity. Following a belief that ‘Less is More’. Bought and replanted by the Gabb family in 1996, the last ten years have seen the estate grow into one of the most talked about in the region. The wines have won accolades and medals at wine competitions around the world ever since the maiden vintages. Here in the cellar we combine traditional winemaking methods, modern technology and a degree of experimentation to produce dynamic fruit driven wines with great elegance and complexity. The philosophy in both the vineyards and cellar follows a minimum intervention approach to ensure the quality of the fruit shines through. We're passionate about making sure your purchases arrive on time and in pristine condition. At the checkout you can select whether you collect your order from our store Portobello or have it delivered. Most orders are delivered within 3-5 working days. The actual arrival time from order is determined by the  lead time  of the items you are purchasing. This is clearly shown on the product page for each individual product.

Next day delivery with UK Mainland

Some of our wines are available for NEXT DAY delivery if ordered by 1pm ~ Monday - Friday

Exceptions are Northern Ireland and some parts of the Scottish Highlands & Islands which operate on a 2 working day service

Standard delivery within UK Mainland

The cost of UK mainland delivery is from £7.95 upwards, based on a sliding scale dependant on number of bottles purchased and is FREE on orders over £200 if goods are being delivered to a single recipient at a single UK delivery address.

All deliveries are made by our own vans or via DHL Couriers.

If no one is home, our courier will leave a card to say they have attempted delivery, or have left the item at your local post office or with a neighbour.

Deliveries are made Monday to Friday. No deliveries are made on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays. Orders made over a weekend will be processed on the Tuesday.

Our standard delivery price starts at £7.95 for one bottle and gradually increases based on number of bottles purchased with 12 bottles from £9.95 with the UK

Faulty Wine

On the (extremely!) rare occasions you may discover a faulty wine, we will of course offer a full refund once returned. Please telephone on 0131 669 7716 or contact us for further details.

Tasting Ticket's

Please note that once we've dispatched them, refunds can only be issued in the instance that we are able to resell your ticket(s).

Our transit boxes are designed to withstand most things, but wine does however sometimes break in transit. DHL Couriers advises us if there are any breakages in a daily delivery audit of all parcels sent the previous day. We resend all breakages as soon as they tell us of any problems. It is, however, still very important that you let us know of any breakages once received so we can arrange replacement wine for you as quickly as possible. We will always replace any wine broken in transit, be it your own personal wine, or in wine gifts sent to your customers, staff, family or friends. Please always check both the number of parcels and the condition of any wines you sign for - as we cannot be held liable for any breakages once you have accepted and signed for them.

Cooling off period 

Under the Distance Selling Regulations, you may cancel a distance contract to purchase a product or products from us at any time within 7 working days after the day you received the relevant product or products (subject to the limitations set out below).

In order to cancel a contract in this way, you must give to us written notice of cancellation. This can be done by email to [email protected] quoting your order reference number, full name and address.

If you cancel a contract on this basis, you must promptly return the products to us, in the same condition in which you received them. Items must be returned in their original packaging and in re-saleable as new condition.

If you cancel a contract on this basis, you will be refunded in full the cost of the goods. However, we are unable to refund any initial outbound delivery charge you have paid, and you will be responsible for paying the cost of returning the product to us.

Please be mindful that until the product is safely returned to us it is your responsibility to ensure it stays in perfect condition. Returned items will be fully checked and photographed on return. Any items that are received by us in a damaged condition will not be eligible for return or refund, and any such items will be returned to you.

Nothing in these terms of sale affects your statutory rights (including your right to receive a refund in respect of any defective product we sell to you).

Sustainable and ethical philosophies guide everything at Journey's End.

Founded in 1996 when the Gabb family took over the estate, Journey’s End is situated right in the heart of Stellenbosch - and, with one of the cape's most exciting terroirs, has quickly become one of the region's top wineries.

In the cellars, winemaker Leon Esterhuizen handles the grapes as little as possible, using pre-fermentation soaks to maximise fruit characters. His sensitive use of oak ensures that the fruit always shines through in the glass.

The family's philosophy is one of minimal intervention, both in the vineyards and the cellar. 10ha of land on the estate has been set aside for a re-wilding project, and similar respect for the environment can be seen across the whole winery. Journey's End are committed to using only natural pesticides, where possible forgoing these in favour of cover crops to distract pests away from vines and act as a natural fertiliser. Wildlife is abundant throughout the vineyards and farm and works to create a perfect ecosystem for winegrowing; from beehives that encourage pollination, to Egyptian runner ducks that eat insects, to Eagle owls that catch rodents.

But Journey's End don't stop there - they were the second winery in the whole of South Africa to become entirely solar powered. Alongside this, they have a deep-running focus on community; one of our Fairtrade producers, they undertake efforts from running soup kitchens and pensioners' lunches, to building new school halls.
