Jurassic World: Live Tour

  • View history

Set some time between after the Indominus rex rampage in Jurassic World and before the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom , Jurassic World scientist Kate Walker is working on better understanding the thoughts, emotions, and feelings of dinosaurs. To help her research, she studies Jeannie , a female Troodon . Jeannie is however under eye of a corrupt plan to weaponize dinosaurs in a desert InGen Facility located in Chile , with the most recent project being the Desert Raptors . Eventually, the story concludes back on Nublar.

Jurassic World: Live Tour first premiered in September 2019, and had various showings that continued into 2020.

Just before the incident on Isla Nublar , a pair of tourist in a Gyrosphere encounter a Triceratops on the tour. As it wanders away they are approached by a Troodon named Jeannie , which begins to attack them, when Dr. Kate Walker , the scientist studying Jeannie, and Oscar , a member of the Asset Containment Unit stationed at the Troodon enclosure, intervene. Kate manages to calm Jeannie down while Oscar watches over the situation allowing the tourists to leave. However, before they can lead Jeannie back to her pen, the ACU arrive, under the command of Kurt Reed , InGen 's head of Special Ops, who have come to capture Jeannie. Despite their best efforts, Kate and Oscar are forced to relinquish the situation to the ACU, who quickly move her back into her pen. Arriving shortly afterwards, Kate and Oscar check up on Jeannie before being interrupted by Dr. Martin Riley , and his two new interns, Chad and Allison . As the Dino Decoder , a device that can read the basic emotions of a dinosaur, is hooked up to Jeannie, she begins to become nervous. Soon afterwards, the Indominus rex breaks into the paddock and forces the group to evacuate, and leave Jeannie behind.

Three months later, Kate, Chad, Allison, and Riley have continued their research on the Dino Decoder in New York. Kate has been attempting to get into contact with Ingen to find out what happened to Jeannie, when one day the Dino Decoder gets a reading from Jeannie. At first overjoyed, the experience is dampened by the reading, indicating Jeannie is not only in fright, but also in Chile, hundreds of miles away from Nublar. Meanwhile, a military base is located in Chile, where Jeannie and some green Velociraptors are.

As Kate and the others break Jeannie free from the compound and return to Isla Nublar via plane, they attempt to find Jeannie’s eggs which were left behind on Isla Nublar. They travel into the Adventure Zone and encounter a nest, but a Triceratops confronts Allison who was holding the eggs, and Blue also came in, clawing the Triceratops , and the gang escapes. They later encounter two bioluminescent Stegosaurus , one adult and a juvenile, which serves as a reminder of finding Jeannie’s eggs. Later, the mercenaries, led by Reed, come and attempt to track and capture Kate, Jeannie, and the others, but a Pteranodon flock attacks, and picks up and flies away one of the antagonists. Later, the T. rex Rexy comes and Chad’s phone alerts it, and they run.

Later on, Reed corners Kate, but Riley knocks the antagonist off of a cliff, and they kiss. Reed survives, having fallen on some trees, and confronts the group, but the T. rex comes again but the mercenaries attempt to have it at bay by lighting flamethrowers, but Blue and Jeannie intervene and stop the flamethrowers, with Rexy and Blue chasing Reed and his scream can be heard. The mercenaries escape, and Jeannie’s eggs hatch, with two new baby Troodon . Kate and her friends leave, with Jeannie and her two babies remaining on the island.

Highlighting Themed Experiences

Jurassic World Live Tour: Experience the Adventure in Person

by Spencer Bollettieri, freelance writer for Theme Park Magazine

As Jurassic Park celebrates its 30th anniversary, its biggest prehistoric stars return for an encore as part of the Jurassic World Live Tour. Although the Jurassic World trilogy claimed to “conclude the Jurassic Era,” the action-packed performance proves there are still stories to explore, adventures to embark on, and plenty to celebrate as audiences return to the iconic Isla Nuhlar for a larger-than-life encounter. After three decades, Jurassic World Live Tour isn’t ready to close the gates of its antecedent, but rather, welcome people back in to experience it in person.

Jurassic World Live Tour is more than a show and begins before the audience is seated. In the center of the arena, visitors can freely explore a pre-show exhibit. Vehicles such as the iconic Jurassic World gyrospheres and dinosaurs such as the gargantuan Triceratops are on full display, allowing guests to get a closer look while snapping a few selfies. Meanwhile, younger show-goers and fans of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous can meet baby Bumpy, the cartoon’s breakout star, in the coddling arms of a Jurassic World scientist. From the pre-show alone, people can appreciate just how much detail went into Jurassic World Live Tour’s props and puppetry while making them feel as if they’ve just come face to face with a living dinosaur.

Jurassic World Live Show

After guests are seated, the show begins with an in-universe travelogue explaining the lore of Jurassic World and its wondrous attractions. However, after seeing Isla Nublar as it appeared in the films, guests are transported into the center of a gyrosphere safari where they first meet Jeannie (short for “Genius”) and her handler Dr. Walker. Jeannie is a Troodon and the most intelligent dinosaur cloned by Jurassic World scientists. Through a “dino decoder,” Dr. Walker and her team can map out Jeannie’s emotions. Although, after being separated from Jeannie by the Indominous Rex, Dr. Walker, her colleague Dr. Riely, interns Allison and Chad, along with ACU agent Oscar find themselves in the middle of a dino-sized conspiracy as they return to Isla Nublar.

Jurassic World Live Tour is a predominantly family-friendly adventure that utilizes life-sized puppets, pyrotechnics, and stunt work. While many will enjoy the heartfelt story and characters, fans of the series will appreciate how it expands the Jurassic World mythos. Additionally, expect to see many fan favorites such as Blue, Bumpy, Rexy, and the Indominous Rex. Without being overly violent or too scary, Jurassic World Live Tour is an experience made with everyone in mind and spectacle at the heart of it. It’s a way to bring the best of Jurassic World to cities in a condensed, fun, and emotional performance.

Jurassic World Live Merchandise

As expected, merchandise is available for purchase throughout Jurassic World Live Tour. In addition to the usual t-shirts, plushies, and novelty snack containers, highlights include dino decoder replicas, novelty glasses reminiscent of Jurassic Park’s night vision goggles, and a Jurassic World-branded Dino Disc, a boomerang-like toy. Additionally, souvenir photographs are sold as keepsakes to commemorate the event.

About Jurassic World Live Tour

The unforgettable Jurassic World score and immersive projection and scenery transport you to the jungles of Isla Nublar. Watch as “real” Gyrospheres roll through the valley as scientists fight to save a new dinosaur. The show includes stunts, sets, props, and an original storyline that fits within the Jurassic World universe.

A collaboration between Feld Entertainment and Universal Live Entertainment, the Jurassic World Live Tour continues an extensive portfolio of projects that include Marvel Universe Live!, A Minion’s Perspective, and Jurassic World: The Exhibition. With Winter performances at the Barclays Center, Prudential Center, Total Mortgage Arena, and UBS Arena, Jurassic World Live is part of a 2023 North American tour, hitting more than two dozen cities. For further information, the Jurassic World Live website has a schedule of upcoming locations for those ready to embark on their Jurassic journey.

Jurassic World Live Tour is a spectacle that brings the magic of the movies to life

By mia johnson | nov 5, 2019.

Jurassic World Live tour. Image courtesy of Feld Entertainment.

In an age of streaming services and online videos, Jurassic World Live brings the fun of movies to an off-screen setting. People of any age will certainly enjoy this show.

Bringing dinosaurs to life might have been a bad idea in the  Jurassic World  series, but make no mistake, bringing dinosaurs to life through props and a little stage magic is arguably one of the best decisions yet. In the  Jurassic World Live Tour , you get to see just that, and it’s a bundle of pure fun that will make for a great night out with the family.

Without giving away too much, the show starts out in Jurassic World where the familiar  Gyrosphere acts as one of the props for the first scene. It’s one of many little familiarities throughout the production that will put a smile on  Jurassic Park  and  World  fans’ faces. From the jeeps to the music to the dinosaurs, the live production really grounds itself in the world we’ve known for over 25 years while adding in a new storyline to make it all the more exciting.

This story takes place in Jurassic World, where a scientist and her team explore the behavior and moods of dinosaurs, with one in particular being her favorite. When things go awry at Jurassic World (as they always do), the team is challenged with finding their missing dinosaur, Jeanie, and fighting off the evildoers who want Jeanie and the scientist’s technology for themselves.

Because of the targeted age group, the story is definitely geared towards children, so you may not feel like you’re necessarily walking into  Jurassic World 3 . But it does feel more like a  Jurassic World  spinoff that you’d find your kids watching on their tablets on a Saturday morning. That’s not necessarily a bad thing because, at the end of the day,  Jurassic World Live  has something that streaming services lack: live, realer than real entertainment.

Taking my 9-year-old sisters with me, I was amazed at how (at least for these few hours while we were out), their heads were out of their phones and tablets and engaging with a fun, live production. It’s rare that kids step away from the screens to see something live and on stage, and it helps that this show is all about the spectacle.

There’s always something to look at on stage: perhaps it’s two duelers on motorbikes, or an exciting (kid-friendly) fight, or a dinosaur chase, or a character doing a Fortnite dance (which even got a good laugh out of me).

The show does allow photography, and there are some great moments that will beckon you to take out your phone and snap a picture or two. Most of the dinosaurs do a nice parade walk around the stage so everyone can get a good view. You probably don’t need my recommendation, but definitely have your camera out when it’s time for the big one to arrive: the T. rex.

If you are a true  Jurassic World fan, be on the lookout for references to the movies throughout the show. It’s something bittersweet that I think the younger fans often didn’t come to recognize (the first movie did come out in 1993, after all). But ultimately, it’s a little treat for the older fans who do remember the movies and how it all started.

So, if you’re looking for a fun night out with your family (or friends) that’s a departure from the click-and-watch entertainment we’re so used to,  Jurassic World Live  will definitely be a fun experience for everyone. And if you’re like my family, you’ll be putting on the movies and humming the theme song for the rest of the week.

Jurassic World Live Tour is touring now throughout the United States. For more information, you can visit the official website .

Jurassic World: The Exhibition roars to life stateside with announcement of North American tour

jurassic world tour age

After five years of wowing audiences in cities around the world, an exhibition based on one of the most popular film franchises of all time is going on tour. Round Room Live and Cityneon, in collaboration with Universal Parks and Resorts, announced Tuesday that this June will mark the launch of  Jurassic World : The Exhibition 's first North American tour with a rollout of the immersive experience in Dallas.

The massive, 20,000-square-foot exhibition inspired by the beloved  Jurassic  franchise first launched in Melbourne, Australia in 2016, and has since drawn more than three million visitors worldwide through stops in cities like Paris, Madrid, Philadelphia, Seoul, and more. Now, beginning with an opening in Dallas' Grandscape in the Colony this summer, John Hammond's dream will be heading to a city near you.

So, what can you expect at  Jurassic World: The Exhibition ? Well, hopefully all of the fun and none of the danger of the real thing. Visitors to the immersive experience will find all-ages fun in the form of "live" dinosaur encounters ranging from the fearsome Tyrannosaurus rex to baby dinosaurs like "Bumpy" from the hit Netflix series  Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous . You can tour the dino hatching lab, see a life-sized gyrosphere, and even get up close and personal with the raptor paddock while you say "Hold on to your butts" to your friends over and over, all without the sensation that it's all going to horribly wrong at any moment. It's all of the fun of the  Jurassic World  movies and none of the terror.

“We are delighted to launch in Dallas, and to bring this Exhibition to cities across the U.S. and Canada," said Stephen Shaw, Founder and Co-President of Round Room Live, in a statement. “Families will be amazed and beyond entertained by this incredible experience."

To see more of what the exhibit has in store, check out the photos in the gallery below.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition

The exhibition tour comes at an exciting time for  Jurassic World  fans. Just days before the Dallas opening, Universal's Orlando park will debut the  Jurassic World VelociCoaster , the "fastest and tallest launch coaster" in theme park-heavy Florida, for an experience that might be almost as thrilling as an actual raptor chase. Then, just one year later, we'll get the theatrical debut of  Jurassic World: Dominion , returning us all to the blockbuster franchise and the continuing adventures of modern-day dinosaurs.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition  opens in Dallas on June 18. For more information, including ticket pricing and upcoming news about future cities on the tour, head over to the exhibition's official website .
