Absolutely wonderful, great for vegans

Absolutely wonderful. Logistics of pick up and drop offs to the airport great. Walking guide was local, incredibly knowledgeable, fun and friendly. The food was delicious and great for vegans! Every day Lassaam made sure we had a mid morning snack and a rest under the shade of a lone acacia tree. Lunch was soo excellent, prepared by a chef who managed to concoct the dishes from the veg which the camels carried. The camel leaders worked their socks off making sure our campsites were set up every night. Everything was provided for us ...matresses, sleeping bags, food, water. An absolutely wonderful experience!

A wonderful hiking trip in New Zealand!

The 19-day New Zealand trip had a well thought out itinerary, giving a good taste of the North and South Islands. The hikes were varied and wonderful. The guides were the best. The trip was perfect in every way --except for the two part-days of rain, but even those were handled well and part of a New Zealand experience!

Price of the tour and what we got for it was not acceptable. The accommotion and food could have been better. The guides cared for us really good, their explanations and organisation was terrific. The transport of the suitcases damaged my suitcase badly also it is a really good once (vaude). I travelled now for years and it never good so badly handeld. I think it was the 1. transport in Rumania.

We are very sorry to learn of the damage to your suitcase Bernadette. We wish that you had considered contacting us directly about this, either during the tour, or afterwards when we asked for your feedback, but we would still be happy to hear from you.

First rate trip (Levada Trails of Madeira)

First rate trip - Levada Trails of Madeira. Guide was excellent and had given great thought to the itinerary. Attention to detail was also very evident - daily lunches provided were a highlight

Not really sustainable

It's just my personal opinion, but I think we need to be more aware of where our money is going. I used to travel with them and believed they were a sustainable company, but when you look closely, how sure wre are you that the exorbitant prices you pay nowadays go to local businesses etc.? The price I was given meant that after deducting costs that could be reasonably expected, most of the money was pure profit for the company. Another aspect of true sustainability is localisation. It's difficult to imagine that a company organizing intercontinental trips could be sustainable. We all know the cost of one intercontinental flight. My experience in the past was mixed, with some trips where the guide left us alone and no water was provided, to completely changing the itinerary because of food poisoning that in my opinion could've been avoided. All in all, I would look for other truly local options in a country you want to visit.

Date of experience : November 03, 2023

We don’t believe this review has been provided from the perspective of a recent travel experience with us. We are not sure how Ann has calculated “costs that could be reasonably expected”, but we are confident that our prices are competitive and we know we have excellent relations with our local suppliers.

Bravo Cyril - Le Chemin de la Liberte ( Freedom Trail)

This is not an ordinary hike. It is really tough emotionally and physically. You will be following a route hundreds took to flee the oppression of Nazi-occupied France, into what was supposedly the freedom of Franco's Spain. On the way, there are plaques and moving memorials to remind you of that enormous undertaking. It was the highest of several routes over the mountains and, to avoid detection, was deliberately chosen to follow extremely rocky paths with often vertiginous ascents and descents. Our leader Cyril was a compassionate and accomplished guide. Every single one of us found the route challenging but he held us together. The night in the atmospheric shepherd's hut was a highlight, Cyril cleared the table and with the aid of sticks and other paraphernalia gave us a quick history of the Pyrenees, which he obviously loves. Bravo Cyril.. your humanity was infectious!

Fab self guided trip to Vietnam - would highly recommend

I booked a self guided trip to Vietnam for 3 of us. Was such an awesome trip and I would highly recommend to anyone to explore the self guided options that KE offer. Vietnam is a special place to visit with so much to see and experience. We travelled from South to North, used private transfers and night trains. If you have a desire to explore, this is a safe way of doing this as the itinerary is there for you (which you can dabble with), everything is booked and KE provide a fantastic App which is personalised to your trip. It provides your daily itinerary, a raft of emergency procedures, maps, contact details and all sight seeing information. The App does all the work for you, you just read the app and set off ! We had some beautiful hotels which was wonderful after a long day exploring. I am already looking for my next trip.

Everything I'd hoped for

I've never come across a travel company that provided such excellent care and guidance before a trip! They patiently answered my endless questions, and always within 24 hours. The management and organisation were superb, with everything happening at the right place and time, and our guide was terrific; he knew very quickly what each person in the group needed and did everything possible to make the trip an enjoyable experience. It was all I'd hoped for and more.

An outstanding family holiday to India

I am just home from an amazing family trip to Inida with KE - we were extremely impressed by our guide and driver and very happy with the quality of accommodation and planning that had clearly gone into making our stay as memorable and smooth as possible. Highly recommended.

Hoi An to Angkor Wat Cycle Discovery Tour

We have just returned from the Hoi An to Angkor Wat cycle discovery tour which we called the Ride of a Thousand Hellos. Vietnam and Cambodia are amazing countries and touring by bike is a superb way to meet the people who are so friendly and welcoming and experience the culture. Our guides and drivers were friendly and worked so hard on our behalf. The food was superb and the accommodation was generally excellent. The biking was varied and very enjoyable. Thank you to all the KE team.

Great trip in Guatemala

Great leader and support team, good food and weather and very friendly local people. It's an interesting part of the world. The mountains are almost all single volcanoes with forest almost to the top, so there are no dramatic ridge walks and the scenery in general does match that of some other mountain ranges of the world. But you do get close to erupting volcanoes, which is spectacular. And the weather in January is great, at a time of year which many other mountain ranges are not suitable for trekking.

Sri Lanka Temples and Tea Trails - packed and varied itinerary and fantastic guide

My husband and I really enjoyed the Sri Lanka Temples and Tea Trails trip. It was a very varied itinerary, ranging from historical sites to cultural experiences to wildlife safaris to hikes. Personally we would have preferred a little more hiking and fewer temple visits, some of which we found a bit repetitive, but everyone is different. Anyone doing the trip should be aware that it is a very packed itinerary, with a lot of VERY early starts (e.g. 4 or 5am, even 2am for the Adam's Peak day!). Some of the timings didn't make a lot of sense to us, and one or two of the early starts seemed a little unnecessary. Our leader Harindu (Harry) was a fantastic guide. He was kind and accommodating of special requests from the group (e.g. one group member wanted to buy a wood carving so he arranged for us to stop at a wood carver's workshop). He was also extremely knowledgeable, on a wide range of subjects from history to the environment, and gave us a lot of information about the country and what we were seeing. He communicated clearly and his English was impeccable, better than most English people - he knew English words I didn't know! Our driver Anil was also great - friendly and dealt well with some challenging driving. The standard of accommodation was very high; we actually felt the hotels we stayed in were too luxurious for the amount of time that we spent in them. Most days we would arrive late and leave early the next morning, so we didn't really have any time to enjoy the hotel. We would have preferred for the trip to have more basic accommodation and be cheaper. Also none of the hotels had mosquito nets, but there were mosquitos in some of them, and we got bitten. Personally I didn't enjoy the Adam's Peak walk at all. It was far too busy, we couldn't get seats at the top (the seats reserved for tourists were full of locals), and we couldn't even stand anywhere to get a decent view of the sunrise because there were so many people. In my opinion it was not worth getting up in the middle of the night for. I concede it was an experience though, and others in the group enjoyed it more. Overall we enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience Sri Lanka in an easy package (although unlike some other KE trips you could do a similar trip indepedently with a little planning for a lot less money).

Walking NZ - North to South Island was a truly fantastic trip. The itinerary enables you to see so many different parts and aspects of this beautiful country. Our local tour guides (Merisha and Sean) were superb and went above and beyond to make our holiday feel tailored and special to us. So enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all aspects of NZ, in particular the wildlife, geography, culture and traditions, as well as giving us an insight into modern NZ and living there today. Highly experienced outdoor leaders. Lots of eloquently told Maori myths and legends to fill our coach journeys! The walks were nicely varied in both length, ability level and scenery. A fabulous trip, highly recommend.

I wish I could give zero stars Tour De Mont Blanc

I wish I could give zero stars. KE Adventures has gone down hill. Guide was not sensitive to people getting sick on hike. Took us to fly ridden restaurants instead of letting us eat at the top of mountains without flies because of his prejudices against the restaurant owner. Stolen hiking poles which also were taken by the trail guide and mysteriously disappeared. KE stopped providing lunch on their tours which made it difficult to get lunch on the mountain or in grocery stores. No zero day on a long 100+ mile 35k elevation change hike. Poor planning all around. Guide extended daily hikes by an hour or two every day because of stopping to talk about botany and different plants. Some says we wanted to get to the hotel to clean up and relax. We didn’t sign up for a plant teaching class that extended our daily hikes. In response to your reply this was my first trip but everyone else on this trip had done KE before and said you did lunches in the past and they too complained about the areas of the trip as I have such as extending the hikes and poor food etc. again as you have continued to avoid responding about Roman the guide who was very prejudice and provided one type of service to another hiker while not giving me any accommodations. One hiker he gave much more latitude because of her knee. While me, with the flu was not given any accommodations. If you read my response on the hiking poles. He asked for my poles, not everyone’s but mine and mine were the only ones stolen. So he did take my poles and after that I never saw them again. While others took their poles and put them up themselves or in their room.

Thank you for your review Kimberly. Firstly, we would like to say how sorry we are that this trip did not meet your expectations. We are aware that you had some issues during your trip as you contacted our office a number of times. However, we are not sure what you mean by “KE Adventures has gone downhill”, since this was your first trip with us. The walk leader for your ‘Tour of Mont Blanc’ (who is a qualified Accompagnateur en Moyenne Montagne [AMM] guide) normally receives excellent ratings in his feedback from KE clients (as indeed he did from every other member of your group). During the trip, you reported to us that your trekking poles had been ‘stolen' from your hotel and we advised you on how to proceed with reporting this locally. We are surprised therefore that you now accuse your guide. With regard to your concerns about the lunch spots he chose during the trekking day, and the additional information on local flora and fauna he provided, we can only say that you were alone among your group in the feelings you have expressed in this review.

Fantastic company who are so friendly, helpful and wonderful to work and trek with!

Fantastic company who are so friendly, helpful and so much knowledge about their trips and local leaders. I did their Wilds of Assynt Trek in Scotland during early August 2020 so during the Pandemic and they were superb. Great trip! The food is amazing, excellent mountain landscapes, lovely local people and such special memories. Definitely recommend KE Adventures especially during this COVID-19 Pandemic. Their trips in Scotland are very special and memorable! Want to do their High Points of the Outer Hebrides and The West Highland Way treks/trips with them in 2021!

From the very start more than 12 months…

From the very start more than 12 months before KE were brilliant at informing and helping. Finally the adventure to EBC happened this February. Flights, hotels, lodges, guides, porters everything was in place and what an adventure we had. The most challenging thing I have ever done but also the most rewarding trek ever. You have to go there to know and words in a review simply doesn't do it justice.

Fantastic Customer Service

We had a hiking trip booked with KE travel for this summer, but due to health issues of one of the travellers we had to postpone the trip. The team at KE Adventure Travel were a joy to deal with both on the phone and via email. They are quick to respond and very helpful. Of course it's disappointing the trip is delayed but the customer service is just fantastic so I would highly recommend them. Big thanks to Vanessa!

Conquer Kili with KE and an incredible Tanzanian team

Outstanding trip despite worst weather our guide of 27 years experience had ever seen! Wet, cold, soggy yet always well looked after, well fed, felt safe and learnt about our incredible surroundings as we trekked. Plentiful food and guides/porters who were warm and friendly and always helpful. Their expertise and enthusiasm, whilst at all times respecting the potential pitfalls of the environment we were in, helped us to successfully summit with memories that will last a lifetime.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Where the Newest NFL Stars Are Moving: Which City Has the Best Real Estate Prospects for 2024’s Top Ballers?

NFL Draft weekend is here, and college stars are set to make moves to towns across the country.

So what should these young athletes expect when they’re summoned to join new squads in unfamiliar locales?

Well, when it comes to real estate, the answer is: It depends. We acknowledge and apologize for the wishy-washy answer, but there’s really no great way to compare Green Bay, WI, to Los Angeles.

In 2024 draft order, we’ve pulled key housing stats for 10 metros where NFL rookies will have to navigate the real estate market. The Chicago Bears own the first and ninth picks, and New York is represented for both the Giants with the sixth pick and the Jets with the 10th pick.

Which NFL city truly scores?

Below, you’ll find the pivotal stats for each metro including inventory (the number of homes for sale), the median list price, as well as the price cutoff for a home in the top 10%, 5%, and 1% of that metro’s pricing. And you’ll find that the players can expect a range of accommodations this fall, depending on which NFL town they’ll call home.

When you cross-reference available inventory and a reasonable median list price, these newly minted pros should be stoked if they’re picked by the Bears or the Atlanta Falcons . Both Chicago and ATL offer an intriguing mix of homes to choose from without the sky-high prices you’re likely to find on the coasts.

And if either of Chicago’s draft picks in the first round decided to splurge on a first home, they’d find they could buy at the very top of the market by shelling out “only” $3.8 million on a place—a figure that isn’t exactly out of reach for a high draft pick.

Compare that $3.8 million with the tippy-top of the market in either New York City or L.A. (where high-end prices easily climb into the eight-digit range), and Chicago looks extremely enticing.

In terms of the tightest inventory, Boston has the fewest options to choose from—with just under 4,0oo listings active on the market in March.

New England Patriots newcomers should also know that cities in the Northeast have been regulars in our monthly look at the nation’s hottest markets . What’s more, the unlikely suburban town of Manchester, NH , near Boston, has topped our hottest market list for years.

Aside from Chicago and Atlanta, there’s a wide middle ground of options in these metros set to welcome an influx of new stars. Metrics are about even for Nashville, TN;   Washington, DC;  and Denver . Minneapolis is similar to those three metros in terms of available inventory but is a tad cheaper. Phoenix is similar in terms of median price but offers far more housing inventory to choose from.

Where will rookies need to scour for affordable options? It’s no shocker: L.A. and New York City present distinct challenges for recent draftees. It can be difficult for a first-time homebuyer to balance affordability, desirability, and commute time in two of the nation’s largest housing markets.

Highlights of India

One of the essential ways to truly engage with any culture is by experiencing its local cuisine. In India, the culinary exploration promises to be a flavour-filled journey, unlike anything you've tasted before. From aromatic curries to crispy street snacks, the diverse regional dishes offer a taste of India's cultural and culinary heritage. With a blend of spices, herbs, vegetables, legumes, and meats, Indian food is known for its complexity and variety. Whether you're savouring a creamy butter chicken, indulging in fluffy naan bread, or taking on the heat of a spicy curry, every bite reflects the country's vibrant traditions and flavours.

What to do in India

Trekking in the himalayas.

The majestic Himalayas, crowned with snow-capped peaks that oversee expansive plains where yaks graze and crystal-clear rivers rush, offers mountain trekkers remarkable opportunities for unparalleled experiences. Whether you're discovering the summits and passes of the Nubra Valley or conquering your first 6,000m peak like Kang Yatse 2, traversing the Indian Himalayas is an experience so distinctly different from the bustling chaos of India's cities that it's almost hard to believe you're in the same country. Starting from the serene launching point of Leh, where Buddhist tranquility reigns and prayer flags flutter in the breeze, you step into a realm that serves as a gateway to the serene beauty of the Indian Himalayas.

Explore Southern India

At the very southern tip of India lies the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Both are totally unique and make for fascinating adventure travel experiences. Home to ancient civilisations, Tamil Nadu is filled with astonishing sculpted temples including towering goporams; soaring gateway towers covered in a bewildering array of technicolour sculptures of gods and mythical beasts. Flanked by the Arabian Sea, Kerala’s coastline is famed for its far-reaching idyllic beaches and myriad backwaters. Cities such as Kochi and Trivandrum are great for exploring and a stay on a house-boat is not to be missed. To the east lies the Western Ghats; a range of hills that offer respite from the humid, tropical climate. These lush green hills are covered in tea plantations and spice gardens, protecting wildlife reserves amongst their gentle folds.

Visit the Taj Mahal

What trip to India would be complete without a visit to the Taj Mahal? This mesmerising marble mausoleum, nestled in Agra, stands as a testament to eternal love and architectural brilliance. Whether you're captivated by its history, intrigued by its design, or simply seeking a moment of serenity amidst its tranquil surroundings, the Taj Mahal promises an experience that will leave a significant mark on your journey through India.

Viking IPO: Key Facts Behind the Luxury Cruise Operator’s Billion-Dollar Debut

Sean O'Neill , Skift

April 30th, 2024 at 6:37 PM EDT

Wednesday's IPO will value Viking, an operator of luxury river and ocean cruises, at roughly $10 billion. Leaders in the luxury travel sector will be eyeing the move closely.

Sean O'Neill

Viking , an operator of river and ocean cruises, and a group of shareholders were set to raise more than $1 billion in an initial public offering on Wednesday.

When the stock begins trading Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol VIK, the Bermuda-based luxury travel company anticipates that the price per share will be between $21 and $25.

The company and its shareholders will offer 53 million shares .

ke tours

10 Facts About Viking’s IPO and Strategy

  • The IPO will enrich chairman, CEO, and co-founder Torstein Hagen, 81, who will control a slim majority of Viking shares. The public debut will make Hagen worth roughly $5 billion , according to Bloomberg estimates.
  • Hagen began Viking in 1997 with four river ships. Today, the company sails 80 river vessels, averaging 190 passengers each. It also has nine ocean-sailing ships, which typically hold about 900 passengers, making them relatively smaller than traditional ocean vessels. The company has three other vessels, such as those used to cruise the Nile in Egypt.
  • Viking wasn’t profitable last year. It reported a $1.86 billion loss in its 2023 fiscal year. But it said that was related to one-time losses. The company reported about $1.09 billion in adjusted EBITDA in its SEC filings.
  • The company targets well-off travelers, typically those above age 55. Its average revenue per passenger last year was $7,251.
  • The company stands apart from traditional ocean cruise lines. Don’t expect to see water slides or casinos on board. Small children are often banned.
  • The company claims it served one out of four luxury cruise-goers on ocean cruises last year out of a market of about 1.1 million. Competitor brands include Oceania, Silversea, Seabourn, and Regent.
  • The company claims to have served one out of two river cruise travelers last year, out of a market of 700,000 passengers. Rivals include Grand Circle.
  • About 90% of Viking’s guests are from North America. Most of its cruise ship itineraries are in Europe and Antarctica, but it has routes worldwide.
  • Viking said it may use some of the capital from the IPO to help expand its offerings to land-based tours and excursions. It will also use some of the capital to pay down its debt, which was $5.4 billion in December.
  • Viking has 24 new ships on order, with options for 12 more. It plans to enter China and other markets.

For more on the company, see Viking’s filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission . Analyst Jess Peterson has crunched other key numbers.
