More KISS

“You wanted the best, you got the best – the greatest band in the world… KISS ,” shouts a voiceover to introduce the rock legends.   Fireworks set off and with a huge explosion the stage curtain falls to reveal the band members standing on pods floating down from the ceiling and showered in pyrotechnic sparks. We immediately feel the heat from the stage as it ignites in bursts of flames for opener Detroit Rock City.

Each with their own distinct character in elaborate makeup and costumes, Paul Stanley (The Starchild), Gene Simmons (The Demon), Tommy Thayer (The Spaceman) and Eric Singer (The Catman), stand before us in all their glam-rock glory to raise hell with their electrifying live show.

Tonight marks the band’s twentieth visit to Melbourne and the first of three shows at Rod Laver Arena on their final tour ever. “We’ve been coming to Melbourne since 1980 and you people never let us down, so we know what to expect,” teases frontman Paul Stanley. The crowd goes wild and we strap in for an unforgettable, thrilling ride to celebrate almost fifty years of KISS music.

They’ve been waiting to return to our shores for a few years since embarking on the ‘End Of The Road World Tour’ in 2019, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now finally, their devoted army of fans get to celebrate their extraordinary career one last time. They take the audience down memory lane, next up with an old school hit Deuce from their self-titled first album.

kiss australian tour band members

Their performance is truly unlike anything else. It’s an over-the-top spectacle full of jaw-dropping effects and adrenaline-pumping rock’n’roll moments to keep the audience captivated the entire time. During their 1982 hit I Love It Loud,  Simmons even executes his own pyro with a fire-breathing act near the end of his bass solo. Cold Gin  sees Thayer give an incredible electric guitar solo, before launching fireworks out of his guitar up to the roof. They’re pulling out all the stops and showing no sign of slowing down in their signature platform heels. It’s hard to believe considering they’re in their 60s and 70s but they show us how it’s done, professionals like no other.

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

With twenty studio albums and sixty singles, it is such a huge feat to condense their iconic catalogue into a two-hour-long show, however, they give us the best of the best of their career to please their fans young and old. From the 1974 hit Calling Dr. Love  to the 1983 classic Lick It Up,  they power through their heart-pounding, fist-pumping, hard rock anthems full of loud guitars and catchy melodies that keep us wanting more.

kiss australian tour band members

They encourage the crowd to act like animals and get them to loosen up with Psycho Circus before Singer’s drum podium is elevated up above the stage for a massive drumming solo. God Of Thunder  unleashes Simmons’ dark side as he performs a blood-spitting stunt that will forever scar us with visuals of his long blood-covered tongue flailing around.

“Every time we come here it feels like home. I love this place so much,” Stanley declares. He sends an invite out to the audience and on the count of three, jumps on a line that flies him out to a second stage. He stays here for two songs including one of their biggest hits I Was Made For Lovin’ You,  as the rest of the band continues to play over on the main stage.

Singer then takes a break from the drums and jumps on the piano to change the pace with their heartfelt track Beth and the arena lights up with phone torches for the emotional ballad. It’s the calm before the explosive storm of an epic encore that concludes the evening with Shandi  and Rock And Roll All Nite.  Enormous balloons and confetti descend onto the mosh pit for a big finish. Stanley swings his guitar and commands a string of firework explosions to set the place alight. KISS have exceeded our expectations and are making damn sure they go out with an absolute bang.

ROCK icons KISS will perform one epic and monumental farewell show – THE FINAL CURTAIN – exclusively at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Saturday 7 October.

kiss australian tour band members

The Final Curtain show was initiated via a national petition, with passionate KISS fans pleading for the band to return to play one more show in Australia before they bring their incredible touring career to an end with their final-ever performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 2 December 2023.

KISS frontman Paul Stanley said: “Australia you have made your voices loud enough that it was impossible for us not to hear you! We are overwhelmed by your petitions and calls for one last KISS so we are now announcing that The End Of The Road will detour one last time to Sydney for a final bombastic farewell. As unexpected as this is for us, we will make it unforgettable for all who share the night with us.”

TEG Group CEO Geoff Jones said “TEG is incredibly excited to be able to bring this iconic and legendary band back to Australia for one last time.  As the only country to receive an additional last-ever show, it speaks to the power of the band’s passionate Australian fan base and TEG’s commitment to delivering the shows that fans demand. This final exclusive stadium show at Accor Stadium is sure to be a monumental goodbye for KISS fans from across Australia.”

One World Entertainment CEO Andrew McManus hinted that fans may see a concert for the ages at Accor Stadium on Saturday 7 October.

“My journey of over 22 years with KISS continues for one, final, huge and explosive event, I can’t call it a concert as this is going to be so much more,” he said.

“Now adding WEEZER as ‘special guests’, I’m proud to continue my partnership with the great folks at TEG and deliver what will be The Final Curtain and Goodbye which promises to have a few amazing surprises.

“All I can say is . . . don’t miss the final bow!”

KISSteria well and truly took over Australia in 1980 after their first-ever tour here, resulting in a deep & lasting connection between the band and their fans.  The sold-out Unmasked Tour broke all kinds of records.  Four decades on, KISS has continued their love affair with Australia, whilst gaining new fans across multiple generations along the way.

The sold-out End of the Road tour in November last year received blistering reviews and proved, yet again, why KISS are the most iconic live show in the world.

It’s only fitting that they perform their final ever Australian show at Accor Stadium – the home of Sydney’s major events. It will be bigger, louder, hotter, and crazier than ever before.

Come and celebrate THE FINAL CURTAIN with the hottest band that gave rock ‘n roll to us!

KISS confirm another trip to Australia after more than 60,000 sign petition

Sarah Abo promised she'd try her best and the Today host has delivered - managing to bring KISS back Down Under for another leg of their End of the Road World Tour .

The iconic rockers were in Australia last August and September, performing for thousands in packed stadiums across the country.

After more than five decades of touring together and with a self-professed love for the people of Australia, it didn't take much for Sarah or a 60,000-strong online petition to convince the "Knights In Satan's Service" to visit our shores one last time.

"We are really excited, you know 60,000 of your fellow Aussies have demanded a return and I think our relationship with Australia has always been very different than with some other nations," frontman Paul Stanley told Sarah.

"So, yeah, we are making an exception and the End of the Road is making a detour to come and see you one more time.

"On October 7 we will be on your shores in Sydney with our friends Weezer on the show with us."

Sarah was lucky enough hang with the KISS lads for a bit of their tour in Paris and London last year, even getting a seat on the private KISS jet alongside the bandmates.

"You're the real deal and it is great to have communication with you again," Paul said.

"You impressed us tremendously, you were really at the top of your game and you knew everything about us - you had done your homework, good on you mate."

KISS will be playing at Accor Stadium and pre-sales tickets are available today from 2pm at Ticketek .

KISS End of the Road Australian Tour Kicks Off In Melbourne #REVIEW

by Paul Cashmere on August 21, 2022

The KISS End of the Road tour has finally reached Australia after three delays due to the pandemic and they are literally going out with a bang.

KISS founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley with Eric Singer (1991-1996, 2001 and 2002 and 2004 to present) and Tommy Thayer (since 2002) are not going quietly.

A KISS show is all the fun of the fair with pyrotechnics, Gene spewing blood, Paul soaring through the crowd, Eric’s floating drumkit and Tommy’s exploding guitar. Every trick of the trade has been compiled into this show.

KISS by Mary Boukouvalas_19

Photo by Mary Boukouvalas with thanks to What’s My Scene

As the stage explodes with fireworks of the opening song ‘Detroit Rock City’ and the members of KISS beam down from the heavens onto the Rod Laver Arena stage you are transported to a carefree space with 14000 other minds all focused on nothing but a good time.

KISS don’t fuck with the formula. You get the anthems you expect. ‘I Was Made For Loving You’, ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’, ‘Love Gun’, ‘Deuce’, it wouldn’t be a KISS show without them.

KISS by Mary Boukouvalas_19

Australia and New Zealand also get the added song ‘Shandi’. The Paul Stanley song from 1980’s ‘Unmasked’ reached number five in Australia and number six in New Zealand but it didn’t impact in many other places. ‘Shandi’ was number one in Argentina and number four in Norway. It fell just about the Top 20 in The Netherlands and Germany but wasn’t a hit anywhere else in the world. KISS rarely perform ‘Shandi’ outside of Australia, New Zealand and occasional Europe.

The setlist itself is a trip through time, hopping the eras of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s to showcase a rock and roll reminder of musical era dangerously close to its end. That in itself creates an urgency to see these legacy acts while you still can. This may very well be it for KISS and Australia, but hey, never say never.

The ‘End Of The Road’ tour, which began in January 2019, is undoubtedly the biggest and best KISS show ever (and that’s saying something), receiving incredible reviews from both diehard KISS fans and the media at sell-out shows across the globe.

Tickets and VIP packages purchased for the March / April 2022 concerts remain valid for the rescheduled dates without need for exchange. Ticket holders will be emailed with their new dates and will not need to take any further action.

Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are now ready to  rock’n’roll all   nite  with the KISS Army across Australia one last time.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers first visited our shores in 1980 during ‘KISSteria’, kick- starting a deep connection between the band and Aussie fans that has continued to thrive for more than four decades. With countless timeless hits like ‘I Was Made For Loving You’, ‘Detroit Rock City’, ‘Love Gun’, ‘Shout It Out Loud’, ‘Lick It Up’, ‘God Gave Rock’n’Roll To You’ and the knock-em dead anthem that closes every KISS show Rock’n’Roll All Nite’, the KISS legacy has continued to grow, generation after generation.

Along the way the band has sold more than 100 million albums and through relentless touring has proven again and again why they are the most iconic live show in rock n roll.  Come and celebrate the extraordinary career and music of KISS.

“All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years. This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in… Unapologetic and Unstoppable,” said KISS.

Lola reviews KISS’ End of the Road Tour in Sydney

The band’s decision to return to Australia is the consequence of a petition started by some of KISS’ many Australia-based diehards. Their visit to Sydney precedes their last-ever show, which is due to take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday, 2nd December. Paul Stanley, the band’s founding vocalist and guitarist, addressed the band’s enormous Australian audience in a statement.

“You have made your voices loud enough that it was impossible for us not to hear you,” he said. “We are overwhelmed by your petitions and calls for one last KISS so we are now announcing that The End Of The Road will detour one last time to Sydney for a final bombastic farewell. As unexpected as this is for us, we will make it unforgettable for all who share the night with us.”

Mulga Bore Hard Rock Band to travel from remote community to support music legends KISS at final Australian show

A six-piece KISS-inspired hard rock band from an Aboriginal outstation in Central Australia, is about to share a stage with their idols.

Key points:

  • Mulga Bore Hard Rock Band will support rock legends KISS on the Gold Coast in September
  • The band has invited KISS to their remote Aboriginal community Mulga Bore
  • Front man Alvin Manfong says it is a dream come true for the whole community

The Mulga Bore Hard Rock Band will support KISS for the rock royalty's last gig on Australian soil on the Gold Coast on September 10.

Front man and high school student, Alvin Manfong said it was hard to believe.

"It's our dreams come true. They are my favourite band in the world," he said.

The band, from the community of Mulga Bore, 240 kilometres from Alice Springs, is busy rehearsing for the 30-minute set of original songs including Big Train and Let Me Rock and Roll as well as three cover songs.

"We're practising every day. We're excited to go, this is our first time going [to the Gold Coast]," he said.

Ms McLean had the idea to get in touch with KISS in a bid to get them in the music video.

"[We wanted to] get them here in a jet. We looked on the internet and saw that they were actually [touring] here," she said.

"We all fantasise about the image of the sparkly boots in the red dirt — it's still a quest."

Ms McLean used her industry networks to secure a contact for KISS after writing to them in March.

"We didn't hear anything for months. Thanks to a late-night Facebook friend request the wheels were set in motion," she said.

"The next day I got an email saying the letter that we had written had got to [KISS].

"[The promoter] said: 'I think this is a good thing and I think the guys will like this."

After initial conversations about a potential half-hour set supporting KISS, several weeks passed with no word, before the golden email arrived into Ms McLean's inbox.

She said they had to keep the news a secret until they could get out to the community.

"We told them. You could've heard a pin drop," she said.

"I think they were in shock. They went quiet.

"Then it just hit them and they've been dancing ever since."

The band still hasn't given up on the idea of welcoming KISS to Central Australia.

"Thank you KISS for inviting us to your stage. We invite you to our stage, Mulga Bore," they said.

KISS – Gig Review & Photo Gallery 27th August @ Qudos Bank Arena, Syd NSW

Posted on August 28, 2022 by 3 In The Pit

KISS Gene Paul Tommy Sydney Australia 2022

KISS – The End of the Road Tour Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney NSW August 27th, 2022 Supports: Battlesnake

The current KISS tour of Australia has been coming for quite a few years now. I honestly can’t remember just how many times this tour has been postponed with the onset of the COVID pandemic from early 2020. But here we are. The band are doing a final(?) run of Australian dates as part of their last outing as KISS ; and I use the question mark as we have heard this before. Now as stated, the band has alluded to farewell tours in the past, but they have just kept on going, and have kept selling out stadiums worldwide for as long as I can remember. I recall vividly the Sydney gig in 1997, the full reunion tour in complete makeup, and I also recall vividly, the countless tours they have done since in Australia. The die-hard KISS fans are unbelievable, so dedicated, unwavering in their adulation, and relentless in their motivation to drop so much coin on their beloved band, and they are all here tonight. But there are also some curious onlookers in the stadium tonight, deciding to see what all the fuss is about, and I can tell them a mile off! This is the second, and last show on the Sydney leg, and the stadium and surrounds have a nice feel to it. There are also a lot of families here, generations of KISS fans, or the to-be-initiated KISS fans. The stadium is not sold out like last night, but there is more than a healthy crowd present, and the important people are here.

The support act tonight is Battlesnake , a Sydney band who describe themselves as “a noxious synthesis of amphetamine and gasoline.” I have actually never seen these guys before and their onstage presence was like a healthy concoction of power metal meets fantasy/medieval-style metal with the band completely decked out in chain mail helmets, shoulder pads and all-in white budgie smugglers. The audience took to them well and if you’re looking to catch them at a follow-up show, they’re playing at the Oxford Art Factory on September 1st… Pack your best tighty-whities and head on down!

KISS hit the stage just passed 9pm. By now everyone is in the room and the feeling around the walls is quite amazing, a lot of energy. As the large curtain with the KISS logo is raised a united scream fills the room. Then, as the lights go down a further, an even more heightened scream fills the room as Led Zeppelin’s ‘ Rock N Roll’  is buzzing through the PA. Finally, as the curtain drops, KISS descend from the roof on individual platforms amongst smoke, lasers, fire and an elaborate light show. Yes, they have left nothing out!! The room, the crowd, and even the walls are electric! This is just what you would expect from the opening of a KISS show, big lights, pyro, the stage moving, loud playing and a class track, ‘Detroit Rock City’ . The song sounds quite fresh, Eric Singer commanding the time, Paul Stanley , Gene Simmons and Tommy Thayer up front and effects front and centre. Paul definitely can’t sing like he used to, but this is not a problem for the crowd, he is owning the space, and the KISS Army are in total worship mode. Paul actually had a lot of support from the other band members in the vocal department, but to be fair, he carried the band vocally for most of its career. In some ways it was a little sad to hear him struggling for most of the set, but what is the alternative? The band don’t tour at all. It is so good to see him, he looks great, he still has all of the rock star presence, and so many of these songs are his.

The opening track finishes off with a bang and then we are straight into ‘Shout it out Loud’ . The band just move into track after track and we get to hear classics like ‘Deuce’ then ‘War Machine,’ and ‘Heaven’s on Fire’ among any mothers. The Paul Stanley “ Starchild ” banter and rhetoric is solid, consistent, and generally not needed, just as you would expect. But he has the crowd eating out of his hands, so what do I know! He was fantastic tonight, he is the ultimate showman, age aside, he still has it. Look, there were no real surprises tonight, and we knew there wouldn’t be. The lads had come to deliver their ultimate show, and they did. Gene ascended the rigging to sing ‘God of Thunder,’ he breathed fire at the end of ‘I Love It Loud , ’ he spat blood, and his tongue was ever-present. Vocally, he is singing really well and sounded great tonight. I really enjoyed his singing the entire set. And as I said earlier, he really supported Paul vocally, Gene worked hard tonight.

Tommy Thayer (who we caught up prior to the tour commencing – revisit here ) was really impressive; he really is a great guitarist. I know he has copped his fair share of flack filling Ace Frehley’s shoes and costume, but he was excellent. He was tight, reliable, great to watch, and just so important to the sound. Of course, he played a long solo, it was during ‘Cold Gin , ’ and he shot pyro out of his guitar and destroyed some of the lighting rigs, and he did all of this like a pro. I am a die-hard Ace fan, but Tommy has done a great job in this band, and he deserves full credit. Paul and Tommy did a little guitar duel/piece during ‘Dr Love’ and it really wasn’t needed, to be honest, definitely not a highlight. I don’t think KISS have ever done things like this well. It did give Paul’s voice a rest, but it just didn’t fit in my opinion.

Eric Singer as always was amazing. He is truly one of my favourite hard rock drummers and was so even before he joined KISS . The only concern with Eric tonight wasn’t him, it was the fact that he got very little camera time on the big screen and I felt that the lights around his kit were too dark and you really couldn’t see him very well. I remember the first time I saw him with the band, in the early 2000s and he was amazing. He gave the band their edge again and was flawless behind the kit. I really don’t have a highlight for him this evening behind the kit as he was so consistent and tight the whole set through. However, vocally he really stood out. His vocals on ‘Black Diamond , ’ and in particular ‘Beth’ were amazing. He honestly sings ‘Beth’ so much better than Peter Criss . I also need to mention his backing vocals, they were really strong also.

I do have to make a special mention of ‘ Love Gun ’; it is one of my all-time favourite KISS tracks and it was brilliant tonight. Paul flew out to his stage in the middle of the arena, he actually sang it quite well, and the band killed it! This was really played well, and no KISS Army member could be disappointed with their rendition of this tonight.

As the set concluded the band brought out an absolute arsenal of pyro and lights for ‘Black Diamond , ’ it was actually quite breathtaking. For encore, the boys did renditions of ‘Beth , ’ ‘Shandi’ (which was really, really good, even though it isn’t one of my favourite KISS tracks)’ and obviously ‘Rock N Roll All Night , ’ which was accompanied by giant KISS balloons, confetti, streamers, pyro, lasers, lights, smoke and streams of fire. Whether you are a KISS fan or not, you can’t help but be impressed by the show tonight, in its entirety. The KISS Army, the curious on-looker, the partner dragged along with the KISS fan, and the uninitiated child would not have walked away disappointed. If this is the last KISS show ever in Sydney, they definitely left a lasting memory for all present. But I am still not convinced, even after all of this, that this will be the last KISS tour of Australia… Time will tell!

KISS rock out Australia for the last time ever in a stellar Sydney show

During their last ever Australian show, one member of iconic rock band KISS shocked the Sydney crowd with just six simple words.

Heartbreaking update on young Swiftie fan

Heartbreaking update on young Swiftie fan

If I asked you to imagine what your life might look like when you’ve reached your 70s, what kind of future is conjured up in your mind?

Perhaps you’re reading a book while curled up on the couch, sipping a warm cup of tea, or perched on a sun lounger, blissfully watching your grandkids play in your pool.

Well, I think we should all be channelling our inner ‘Starchild’ Paul Stanley from KISS, who rocked out Sydney’s Accor stadium on Saturday night for the very last time.

The 71-year-old icon was dressed head to toe in tight studded leather and donned knee-high platform boots, before confidently launching himself at full speed via zip line from one end of the stadium to the other, mesmerising the crowd below.

I am more than four decades younger than this man and yet can barely get out of bed some mornings, let alone put my body through the insane circus-like escapades that he had made look effortless.

Amid the excitement, there was a sombre feeling washing over the audience that night, as many struggled to accept that this would be the final time KISS would ever perform in Australia.

It simply didn’t feel real.

Many in attendance had been at the band’s very first concert Down Under back in 1980, when the boys visited all our major cities as part of their Unmasked tour and cemented our love of the group for decades to come.

But there is no denying that we’ve heard this before.

The band said goodbye to Australia at their End Of The Road tour in 2022, promising it would be the last time they would ever set foot on our shores.

However, their love for the land down under is strong, with Stanley revealing his true feelings during the show.

“Australia is like our second home” he affectionately declared, a stunning revelation that incited audible gasps, laughs and a choir of “aww” from the crowd.

KISS simply can’t stay away, returning to rock out the AFL grand final last week in Melbourne , before their ‘final curtain’ Sydney show on Saturday, hosted by TEG Live and One World Entertainment.

But there was something different in the air that evening, a palpable sense of sadness that this was really it – the final hurrah.

However, it was this knowledge that spurred everyone into slipping on their dancing shoes and making this farewell party as memorable as it could be, both for us and for them.

The crowd was lucky enough to catch three incredible opening performances, with Aussie acts The Delta Riggs and Regurgitator pumping out some classics, before beloved American band Weezer graced the stage.

Then, it was time.

The anticipation and lead up to KISS being unveiled was unlike anything I’d seen before.

Everything went pitch black, before bright red spotlights danced around the crowd and a suspenseful track vibrated throughout the stadium.

On the giant screens, fans are given an exciting sneak peek at the musicians emerging from their dressing rooms, fully adorned with their unmistakeable attire and painted faces, as they begin their slow walk out to the stage.

Then comes their famous introduction.

“All right Sydney, you want the best, you got the best,” a disembodied voice booms.

“The hottest band in the world – KISS!”

With a deafening bang, the curtain dramatically drops to unveil the foursome slowly descending from the heavens above, encircled by billowing puffs of smoke, enormous flames and fireworks lighting up the sky.

“We thought we had said goodbye, but you asked us to come back,” Stanley announced to the enamoured crowd.

“We are humbled, we are honoured and we are here to kick some ass. Australia is like our second home. We love you!”

With his ghostly white painted face, iconic black star over his right eye and perfectly applied red lippy on his pout, the KISS frontman magically exudes the same electric energy and effortless charm that he did 50 years ago, when the New York band first formed in 1973.

Bassist Gene Simmons at 74 is somehow just as bewildering and formidable in the best possible way as ‘The Demon’, both enchanting and horrifying the crowd with his classic tongue antics and mouth-bleeding performances.

Made complete with 62-year-old lead guitarist Tommy Thayer’s expert acoustic skills as the ‘Space Man’ and drummer Eric Singer, 65, providing the beating heart for the band as ‘The Cat’.

Launching into classics like Shout It Out Loud ( 1976) Deuce (1974) and Heaven’s On Fire (1984), the crowd was amped up and hungry for more.

A KISS performance is so much more than just a concert – it is an other-worldly, unforgettable blitz on the senses.

“The first time we came here was in 1980, and you people have always been awesome,” Stanley shouts, as the camera pans out into the crowd.

There are KISS lookalikes as far as the eye can see, with both young and old getting into the spirit and reminding us of the monumental role music plays in connecting people from all walks of life.

A five-year-old boy donning Gene Simmons style face paint playfully pokes out his tongue as he bounces on his father’s shoulders, while an 85-year-old woman waves from her wheelchair, a perfect black star etched onto her face and crimson lippie painted on her pout.

Fans were dressed up as their favourite band members. Picture: Chris Huang

“We know you’re not all from here,” Stanely said, acknowledging the thousands that were flocking to the show from all over the country.

Powering through other hits such as Calling Dr. Love (1976), Lick It Up (1983) and Psycho Circus (1998), it was soon time for the unforgettable God Of Thunder (1976) act.

As a stormy scene lights up the stage, the camera zooms in on Simmons as he appears to be having an exorcist-type reaction, before fake blood cascades out his mouth as he personifies his character of ‘The Demon’.

Not one to be outdone, Stanley leaps into his pièce de résistance trademark stunt.

“We won’t be back, this is the last time. I know, it’s horrible,” he says. “And this is the last time that I can come out there and be with you.”

Paul and Gene in their younger years. Picture: Instagram / @genesimmons

Before long, he seamlessly places a single foot onto the zip line and effortlessly glides across the crowd and onto a tower in the middle of the pit.

Fans go wild, uncertain which way to turn as he busts out some killer dance moves while playing Love Gun (1977) and then flying back onto the stage for Black Diamond (1974).

#ThrowbackThursday : November 1980 - Amazing welcome at Sydney's City Hall during our first visit to #Australia . 43 years later, we'll be back in #Sydney for our final Australian show at Accor Stadium on October 7th. #KISSTORY #EndOfTheRoadTour pic.twitter.com/3v4fOdvNiz — KISS (@kiss) August 24, 2023

The perfectly-timed theatrics of it all are a testament to the band’s professionalism, and despite the hundreds, if not thousands, of times they have performed these tricks, they continue to blow the audience away and make us feel as if we are the first to ever witness such crazed antics.

After teasing the crowd by disappearing from stage, drummer Eric Singer re-emerges with his solo of Beth (1976) after desperate pleas for an encore, and the stadium is illuminated by gently swaying lights from the torches on everyone’s mobile phones.

The rest of the band return and light up the crowd with Shandi (1980), a song which despite having just moderate success in the U.S. at number 47 on the Top 100 Billboard Charts, captivated Australian audiences when it was first releases, skyrocketing to number 5 here.

It is clear by the number of people singing their lungs out that the emotive tune continues to be uniquely appreciated by crowds down under.

With the end edging closer, everyone got on their feet as they busted out fan favourites I Was Made For Lovin’ You (1979) and Rock and Roll All Nite (1975).

“Sydney, we will never, ever forget you,” Stanley says with a smile, as the reality of the inevitable final goodbye sets in.

“Goodnight, we love you.”

Many refused to believe this could be their final Australian show. Picture: Jasmine Kazlauskas / News.com.au

Although the night was freezing – getting down to 14 degrees celcius with an icy wind – a warmness enveloped the crowd, as if we had all just been part of one giant hug goodbye.

During the mass exodus, I spotted a few teary-eyed fans staring longingly at the stage, clearly moved by the concert and struggling to believe it was finally all over.

This degree of emotion on such a large scale reminded me of the incredible power of music and how it can stir things up inside of us that we never even knew existed.

Although we’ve kissed KISS goodbye, the legacy of the band and the decades of memories they have created in this country will be forever etched onto the heart of their Australian fans.

KISS Just Announced Their ‘Final’ Australian Tour Dates

By Tom Williams

UPDATE 14/11/19 :  KISS Have Cancelled Their Farewell Australian Tour

After teasing fans earlier this week, KISS have now revealed plans to bring their ‘final’ farewell tour to Australia in 2019.

The rock legends have announced tour dates in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane, as part of their ‘End Of The Road World Tour’, which was first announced back in September and will hit Australia in November 2019.

Catch all of the tour dates and ticket details, below.

KISS last toured Australia in 2015, and have since been preparing for their huge three-year world tour, which is expected to hit all continents.

This won’t be the first ‘final’ tour from KISS. The band’s classic lineup embarked on a “goodbye tour” in 2000-2001, before original members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley left the group.

The band’s current lineup consists of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and now-longstanding members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

In a statement about their upcoming tour, KISS said, “All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years.

“This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in… Unapologetic and unstoppable.”

Kiss Avatars to Rock the Stage in 2027: Soaring Above Audiences

I n a groundbreaking announcement that promises to redefine concert experiences, the legendary rock band Kiss has unveiled plans to return to the stage in 2027, not in flesh and blood, but as two-meter-tall avatars capable of flying over audiences. This revolutionary concept, teased shortly after their final concert at Madison Square Garden in New York, hints at a future where Kiss’s iconic performances transcend the limitations of time and physical presence. With an ambitious partnership involving Industrial Light & Magic and Pophouse, Kiss is set to embark on a venture that could forever change how live music is experienced.

By Aubree Ross

A Glimpse into the Future

Kiss took to Instagram to tease their next project, a 25-second video showcasing animated avatars of the band members, including Gene Simmons with bat wings, soaring into the sky. This teaser hints at a future where the band’s signature stage antics, previously achieved with wires and lifts, are elevated through digital wizardry. “A show is coming in 2027,” the teaser promises, igniting fans’ anticipation for what is being billed as a concert experience unlike any before.

Teaming Up with Industry Giants

To bring their futuristic vision to life, Kiss is collaborating with Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects powerhouse behind Star Wars, and Pophouse, known for their work on ABBA Voyage. This partnership signifies a significant investment in technology and creativity, with Gene Simmons revealing a staggering $200 million budget for developing the hologram figures. This move not only showcases Kiss’s ambition, but also their willingness to embrace cutting-edge technology to preserve their legacy.

Beyond Ordinary: Avatars with Superpowers

The band’s avatars, planned to stand over two meters tall, will not be mere digital replicas. They are envisioned to have animated powers, including the ability to fly over the audience and breathe fire, pushing the boundaries of live performance. This innovative approach to concerts aims to offer fans an immersive experience that combines the thrill of a live Kiss show with the fantastical elements of superhero movies.
