Hot Wheels Legends Tour Announces 2024 Show Dates

The traveling show searches for the next garage of legends vehicle....

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour presented by Mobil 1 is back for its seventh year in search of the next Garage of Legends inductee.

Beginning May 11, car builders from around the world will compete for a chance to have their one-of-a-kind car immortalized as a 1:64-scale die-cast and join an exclusive group of Garage of Legends life-size Hot Wheels vehicles.

This year’s Tour kicks off in Miami with a live event, in partnership with Walmart, on May 11 and will then travel across 13 countries.

For 2024, Hot Wheels is leaving no stone unturned with new event stops in Columbia and the United Arab Emirates. The United States will host 11 regional events at Walmart locations across the country, culminating with the Global Semi-Final and the Global Grand Finale in November.

“The enthusiasm we see at Hot Wheels Legends Tour events around the world keep us motivated to build on the tour every year to find more ways to celebrate custom car builders and their drive to become legendary,” said Ted Wu, senior vice president and global head of design for vehicles at Mattel. “This year, the tour will visit Columbia and the UAE for the first time, and we can’t wait to see these unique car communities represented at this year’s Global Semi-Final in November.”

When searching for the next authentically iconic Hot Wheels vehicle, the judges are looking for extreme, on-trend, relevant vehicles. Judges will also consider the builder’s overall creativity and how the project stands out from the crowd.

New for this year, Hot Wheels celebrates its ongoing partnership with Walmart by adding a U.S. virtual contest where car enthusiasts nationwide can submit their passion projects and participate in the Hot Wheels Legends Tour. Hot Wheels and Walmart Design Teams will select one vehicle to move on to the Global Semi-Final in November. Submission details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Each stop will include activities for fans of all ages, including the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends life-size cars, play spaces where kids can interact with the latest Hot Wheels toys, and Hot Wheels die-cast displays featuring coveted premium and collector cars. Additionally, Hot Wheels enthusiasts can find special edition Hot Wheels Legends products exclusively at select Walmart stores or on Walmart.com .

Since its launch in 2018 to commemorate the 50 th Anniversary of Hot Wheels, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour has grown from a series of local Walmart events across the United States to the world’s largest traveling car show, bringing in builders and automotive fans through both virtual and live events.

Global Hot Wheel Legends Tour to Visit Big Island for First Time

The World Largest Traveling Car Show is Coming to Hawaii as the Global Search to Find the Next Hot Wheels Car Continues

On October 21, the  Hot Wheels Legends Tour , the world’s largest traveling car show, rolls into Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, for the first time. This epic global contest will give custom car builders in Hawaii a shot at having their passion project immortalized as a 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast. Celebrating its sixth year, Hot Wheels Legends Tour is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to finding the next great addition to the Garage of Legends.

At this free live event, a team of local automotive enthusiasts and members of the Hot Wheels design team will vote for the car that will compete in the global semifinals later this year.

Judges will evaluate all vehicle entrants and finalists on the criteria of creativity, authenticity and garage spirit. Built, not bought, remains the spirit of the Tour, and custom creations of all makes and models, shapes and sizes are encouraged to enter.

In addition to unforgettable, unique vehicles, the event will feature play spaces where kids can interact with the latest toys from Hot Wheels.

Imagine Dragons Announce Loom North American Tour in 2024

I t’s a big day for Imagine Dragons fans! The pop-rock legends are kicking off a tour of the US and Canada this summer in promotion of their upcoming album Loom , out June 28. No supporting acts have been announced for the tour. The band has been a bit mum about the entirety of the tour and where they will be headed, but they have announced the North American tour dates for what will likely become a world tour. Stay tuned for more info!

The Imagine Dragons 2024 Tour will launch on July 30 in Camden, New Jersey at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. Pending extra tour date additions, the tour should close on October 22 in Los Angeles, California at Hollywood Bowl.

Fans can sign up for the tour presale (as well as VIP tickets) through Imagine Dragons’ website . The artist presale, plus a number of other presale events, will begin on April 23 and 24 at 10:00 am local via Ticketmaster .

Public on-sale starts on Friday, April 26 at 10:00 am local. This tour is going to sell out lightning-fast, so if your tour date sells out during the presale events, try Stubhub. This route is the best one if you want to see the heart of Moscow. It goes right through the major places of interest and touches upon the most exciting and vibrant areas of Moscow such as part of the Boulevard Ring, which is absolutely loved by everyone.

Cozy streets of Zamoskvorechye will never leave you indifferent. This district has a long and vivid history and is full of old baroque houses along with Stalinist buildings. It includes three theatres, three museums and sixteen churches.

Back in the 18 th century Zamoskvorechye was known as a quiet, country-like land of single-storey houses and conservative businessmen. It remained country-like and is much more filled with business than before, as this area is just right in the city centre.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--( BUSINESS WIRE )--Today, the 2021 Hot Wheels Legends Tour presented by Mobil 1 is officially open for fan car submissions. Back for its fourth year, the 2021 Hot Wheels Legends Tour will continue the Hot Wheels tradition of offering global fans the unique opportunity to have their one-of-a-kind life-size car creations forever immortalized as the next Hot Wheels Garage of Legends 1:64 die-cast toy.

In true challenger spirit, this year’s Hot Wheels Legends Tour competition is geared up to be bigger than ever before. With stops spanning 14 countries and 5 continents, the 2021 showdown will feature both live and virtual events kicking off in April with livestream stops in New Zealand (April 15), Australia (April 22), and the U.S. and Canada (April 29).

Dates for future stops will be announced soon, and fans may register or learn more about the Hot Wheels Legends Tour by visiting www.HotWheels.com/Legends. Livestreams will be available to view on the Hot Wheels Facebook page, on Walmart.com and through automotive media partners in specific countries. Live events will be returning to U.S.-based Walmart stores this summer.

A martial arts spoof filmed in midcoast Maine makes big screen debut

For those in midcoast Maine who have ever wanted to see an action-comedy film shot in their backyard and produced in the style of a 1970s martial arts picture, times are good.

Matt Enos, the Searsmont-based creator of the surreal comedy web series “ The Slim Duffy Show ,” has now produced a feature film that’s making its big screen debut at the Colonial Theatre in Belfast Tuesday evening. 

Called “Battle Legends: The Legend of the Battle Master,” it follows the character of Jim Duffy after he loses the title of best fighter in the town of Duffyville to local scoundrel J.T. Smash, forcing Duffy to try to regain it. 

The film features the characters from “The Slim Duffy Show”: Slim Duffy, his brother Jim, and J.T. Smash, among others. In an interview, Enos said that it’s shot and produced in the comically action-packed style that he imagines the characters would have chosen.

“Get, you know, a couple bucks and like an old, VHS camcorder or whatever, and make this really cheesy action movie, of course,” he said, reciting what their thought process would have been. “Because in their minds, they would be action heroes, right?” 

This isn’t Enos’ first film in the Slim Duffy universe, nor his first feature-length film, he said. This one came after he made a trilogy of short films based on the web series a few years ago and decided to expand one of them into “Battle Legends.” 

Enos filmed “Battle Legends” in 2022, using locations throughout Waldo County, where he grew up with his creative partners and high school friends, Mike Urchin and Cade Nickels. They star alongside him in the production. 

Though Enos’ love for film began with horror movies he watched in childhood, his tastes have led him to additional genres, including comedy. While he spends his days working at Liberty Graphics, the printed T-shirt company , he said film is his passion. 

“I started making movies because I was just a huge fan of George Romero, John Carpenter. It was mostly horror films that got me into filmmaking initially when I was a kid,” Enos said. “The first few years I was making movies, and all my movies were just rip-offs of their movies. And then I eventually got into some other stuff.”

In a callback to his love for older movies, Enos spent a year editing “Battle Legends” to make it seem like it was shot on actual film, rather than on the digital cameras they actually used. To further the effect, the team dubbed over the dialogue — deliberately doing a bad job of it.

Enos said when they started filming, he didn’t even have a complete script, and the group took its time to create a story that featured the characters they’ve developed in the five years of making “The Slim Duffy Show.”

Since the group already had film and editing equipment, their budget was only about $2,000, Enos said. But mostly, he’s just excited to see his work on the big screen.

“We knew that if we did do a movie, then what better place to show it than our hometown theater where we’ve grown up going?” Enos said.

For those who can’t get enough of the Duffy brothers and J.T. Smash, Enos expects to produce another movie in their universe, with filming set to start this summer. This time, it’ll be a horror exploitation film, he said. 

While he doesn’t want to spoil anything about the next movie, he said he’s not quite sure a sequel to “Battle Masters” would work. He hasn’t ruled it out, though.

There will be a single showing of “Battle Legends: The Legend of the Battle Master” at the Colonial Theatre on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The filmmakers will do a roundtable after the show to discuss their approach and production style. The film is also out on Blu-Ray .
