Wide open world

The Wide Open World Missions Fund was born out of a trip to South Africa. It was there that the words “the world is wide open to the Gospel” were spoken by a church planter. Since that time these words continue to inspire the movement of Lifepoint Church to glorify God by making disciples and multiplying churches locally and globally.

HOW WE DO MISSIONS AT LIFEPOINT

We want to send every member—to our neighborhoods and to the nations. Everyone at Lifepoint can be a part of making disciples of all nations, whether through praying, giving, or going. How is God sending you?

lifepoint church mission trips

PRAY. We prayerfully depend on God.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2)

Prayer is foundational for the spread of the gospel and for the support of those that are being sent and have already obeyed. Through prayer the church participates in God’s work to advance the gospel to the ends of the earth.

"The history of missions is the history of answered prayer… it is the key to the whole missionary problem. All human means are secondary." – Samuel Zwemer

EQUIP. We train and equip Lifepoint attenders for global disciple-making.

We strive “...to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12)

The church is responsible to train its people to be missionaries and every Christ-follower should be equipped to make disciples and multiply churches. At Lifepoint we want to provide the necessary knowledge, training and resources to help you do that. Being an active member of a local church is the best missionary training a Christian can receive.

SEND. We want Lifepoint attenders to make disciples and multiply churches locally and globally.

“How are they to preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:15)

The local church is the center for sending God’s people to serve. It is a priority of Lifepoint to send out our members from our church family. We connect Lifepoint members to missional opportunities around the Columbus area and across the world in regions where there is little to no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Serve Your Campus

At Lifepoint Church our people serve through our Lifeteams. Our Lifeteams exist to create a welcoming, vibrant, Christ encountering environment for our guest and regular attenders.

The door greeter welcomes people at the Plain City Campus.

Serve The City

At Lifepoint, you’ll find that our local outreach is done almost entirely through our Lifegroups. We believe that across our 6 campuses and 100+ Lifegroups, we can simply do more and do it better when our groups take the initiative and serve where they naturally have influence and passion! Click below to see a list of our partners and / or find a list of serving opportunities through our Lifegroups. If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected] .

Church Planting

At Lifepoint, we believe in reaching our world with gospel. One of the primary ways we do this nationally is through our church planting efforts. Each campus of Lifepoint has, or will have, a church plant partnership with whom they relationally lead. We connect with church plants through the SEND NETWORK of churches as part of our multiplication philosophy.

How Do We Do That?

Every Christian should be willing to go and share the gospel.

At LifePoint, we do this locally and globally. Every Christian has a responsibility to share the gospel right where they live with family, friends, colleagues and strangers who do not know Jesus Christ, and should be willing to go and share the gospel globally through short-term, focused mission trips organized by LifePoint.

Every Christian should be praying for the advancement of the gospel. This includes praying for missionaries serving around the world.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 9:38 to pray for workers to be sent into the fields because they are ready for harvest. A healthy church must continually pray for the gospel to advance throughout the world. We regularly receives updates from missionaries about work happening in their field and how we can help them through lifting up specific matters of prayer.

If you would like to be part of the team of people who receive these updates and pray for, communicate with and encourage these missionaries, email [email protected] and let us know!

Every Christian ought to give to the cause of the gospel around the world.

Who We Support

At LifePoint we support missionaries and organizations both prayerfully and financially, supporting Gospel-advancing work happening right here in the Pioneer Valley and around the world.

*Note - there are missionaries who LifePoint regularly supports whose mission field is hostile toward Christianity. For their safety, we do not publicly publish their names or the location of their work.

Lifepoint Missions

We help people learn to love god, love people, and make disciples of jesus christ., local missions.

We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

So many people in our communities are trapped in cycles of pain, poverty, and addiction. We believe that Jesus Christ has the power to transform people’s lives. Our first responsibility is to do whatever it takes to reach people with God’s Word.

But we also believe that education is one of the best ways to help people break out of those cycles, which is why we have intentionally developed a partnership with our local school system.

  • Through Backpacks of Hope, we provide healthy, weekend meals to local elementary students. In these tough times, many of our local students don’t have access to food on the weekends. We don’t think Jesus likes that, so we’re trying to do something about it.
  • If you would like to see current statistics or volunteer with Backpacks of Hope, check out their Facebook page . To donate directly to this ministry, click here .

We also have financial and volunteer partnerships with Starting Point, Touchpoint, Lazarus Recovery, Hope in Knox, Winter Sanctuary, and Hot Meals.

Church Planting in North America

We believe Jesus Christ is the hope of the world, and we believe that church planting is the most effective way to see people love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. Through our partnership with SEND Network and SEND Relief , we are actively involved in helping plant churches and meet tangible needs all across North America.

In 2016 and 2018, we helped to directly plant Lifepoint Church in both Delaware and Westerville. In 2022, we helped launch Lifepoint Church in Marion. We also have developed a partnership with the Bridge Church to support their Gospel work in Brooklyn, NY.

To explore the possibility of joining a church planting team, email our Lead Pastor, Adam Pursel .

To find information or to sign up for our upcoming short-term mission trips, email our Missions Director, Deana Wolf .

International Missions

Through our partnership with the International Mission Board , we are able to help support thousands of missionaries all over the globe. We have direct partnerships with La Fuenta de Vida Church in Coquimbo, Chile, and a partnership designed to share the Gospel with Muslims in London. In the Fall of 2023, we sent out our first long-term missionary couple to Sicily. We will begin taking regular short-term trips to support them in their work over the coming years.

To find out how you can be involved in cross-cultural mission work, email our Missions Director, Deana Wolf .

Missions and Outreach Successes of 2023

lifepoint church mission trips

In 2023, LifePoint’s Missions and Outreach initiatives witnessed amazing growth. Achieving remarkable success in forging new partnerships, growing new leaders, and extending financial support to worthy causes. We proudly added four new partners to our roster, furthering our impact both locally and globally.

Locally, the Healing Hands Medical Clinic became a valuable addition, amplifying our commitment to physical and spiritual health working together. The Produce Market, attracted 570 visitors during its inaugural season, showcasing our dedication to supporting neighbors physical needs to be fed, and introducing them to LifePoint. The Produce Market ministry leader, Tina Ortega-Thomas, is still actively working to get this ministry serving the community again.

On the global stage, we welcomed IndoPartners, broadening our support of spreading the gospel into Indonesia. While aligning ourselves with Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Mission Team and Mission Leaders Jamie Morse, Nicole Calvert, and Becky Haas, strengthened LifePoint’s capacity for national and local responses for when natural disasters hit.

Financial support played a pivotal role in our endeavors, with two existing partners, Blacksheep and Haitian Christian Ministries, receiving vital funds to help to continue to serve those in need. While we still are not able to send teams to Haiti due to the continued civil unrest, this financial commitment underscores our ongoing dedication to fostering sustainable and Holy Spirit filled change in the communities and nations we serve, including Haiti.

Our mission trips in 2023 totaled seven, with highlights including Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Missions to Florida and Tennessee, Arizona Reservation Ministries initiatives on the San Carlos Reservation, and a My360 Project trip to Mexico. These experiences not only enriched and grew our mission team members but also left a lasting impact on the communities we visited. Through these mission trips, new leaders were identified and have stepped forward into the role of being a servant leader for the church and those they lead and mentor on future missions.

In terms of outreach, LifeCare had an abundance of needs from the San Tan Valley community, fulfilling 67 community requests with the help of 102 volunteers, LifeCare met physical needs, and planted seeds for the Spirt to move. The success of The Big Give 2023, Christmas in Belize Fundraiser, exceeded the $3,000 goal, supporting the continued discipleship efforts for the children of Gales Point, Belize . The Giving Tree had 186 tags fulfilled, and an amount of $2,250 in gift cards for our local partners to use to serve those in need. Operation Christmas Child had 468 donation-filled shoeboxes collected, including 283 from our church and packing party event. Lastly $3,000 from the Christmas Eve offering was given to our local and global partners to bless them at Christmas time.

Other outreach initiatives, such as Baskets of Blessings had five baskets given to neighbors in need. The Community Picnic had the majority in attendance from the neighborhood and was being served by the church. These efforts further solidified our commitment to building a stronger and unified community through the act of kindness and service to others.

We’re not just about events – our commitment extends to life-saving efforts. LifePoint hosted three community blood drives in collaboration with Healing Hands Medical Clinic resulting in 30 first-time donors, 94 products collected, and an estimated 280 lives saved. As a testament to love and lead like Jesus did, LifePoint congregant and Haiti Mission Leader, Becky Haas now serves on the Board of Directors of the Haitian Christian Ministries, while Executive Pastor Tim Ferrara serves on the Board of Directors of Paladin Sports Outreach.

The successes of 2023 serve as a testament to the unwavering commitment the church has, to live out The Great Commission, Matthew 28, 17-20, “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”. This past year we have seen God move hurdles out of the way and make a path when we didn’t see one. We saw our Father care for our loved ones at home, as we served and cared for those that don’t know the love of the Father. All the praise and glory to our Father in Heaven for the abundance of joy He has given to us as the church went out to all the nations and served those He seeks after. Here’s to another year of transformative, Spirt lead missions and outreach!

EMBRACE GRACE Group

Embrace Grace is a ministry that offers hope for single pregnant women. This group focuses on how God's grace and love is never-ending, no matter what our past is and what we're going through. It offers hope to the hopeless and broken hearted that have found themselves with an unexpected pregnancy. We are here to encourage and dismiss the stigma of shame and guilt that a single pregnant woman may feel during this time. Our next semester will begin on Monday, February 27th at 6 pm at Lifepoint Church. Please contact Natish Lawson at [email protected] or phone (910) 391-7534 with questions. We look forward to celebrating the miraculous life that you are carrying. Congratulations!
