Hammit, the hostel contact person and Mohammed, the tour guide for hiking, they are very nice and accommodate all my needs. The food is very delicious. The trek is not easy. I did it very slow. But Mohammed toom very good care and was patient. I was glad to join the tour although I'm the only person in the tour. I don't have to worry the transfer from and back to Marrakesh because the tour included.

Mountain biking was a great adventure for us during our visit of Moroccco. It was an extremely terryfying and challenging. However, we had an amazing experience riding through amazing trails while enjoying the beauty of the Moroccan landscape. We explored the Berber villages and experienced their culture.I'm a foodie--so the best part was eating the delicious typical Berber food. As much as we were pretty tired, it was such an amazing biking experience from Trek In Morocco.

First and foremost, the safety and comfort of our little child were of utmost importance, and MTB Morocco went above and beyond to ensure that. They provided us with a specially designed child seat and ensured that it was securely attached to the mountain bike, allowing our child to join us on this thrilling adventure. Their attention to detail and commitment to accommodating families made us feel at ease throughout the entire trip. The beauty of the Atlas Mountains left us in awe at every turn. The trails we rode on showcased the grandeur of the mountains, with breathtaking vistas of towering peaks, lush valleys, and charming Berber villages. The routes were thoughtfully planned, offering a mix of gentle rides suitable for our family, as well as more challenging sections for those seeking an extra adrenaline rush. The guides at MTB Morocco were not only experienced cyclists but also wonderful with children. 4 Days / 3 Nights SAHARA EXPERIENCE

I submitted my first review before it was finished - Ali from Morocco Joy was a wonderful guide, so helpful and knowledgeable about the history of Morocco. We were travelling as a family of five, 2 adults, 3 kids aged 17,15 and 12 , and he was great at chatting with all of us and keeping the kids interested. The tour was amazing. The first day we drove from Marrakech through the high pass in the Atlas Mountains, visited a Berber village and had mint tea with the locals and learned so much about their way of life, stopped in Ouazarzate for a lovely lunch, then went on to visit an ancient kasbah (very interesting tour brought to life by the tour guide there), then drove through the lush Dades valley to a beautiful hidden hotel where we had a gourmet 4 course dinner on the terrace. We were also able to have a swim in the outdoor pool in the morning before breakfast. That hotel was such a treat! Day 2 we went further into the Dades gorge, unbelievable views, then on to the stunning Todra Gorge, before heading out towards the desert, stopping for headscarves, a traditional costume photo opportunity and lunch en route. The desert experience started with a swim in a lovely outdoor pool to cool down our body temp (bearing in mind it is August and well over 40 degrees C in the desert. We then got on our camels early evening and rode out into the Sahara for a unforgettable experience including sand boarding and standing up on our camels (!), returning to the Berber camp when it got dark for a good meal. The tents are basic but comfortable, the camp was very nice and there was a toilet and shower block there too. After the meal, the Berber camp guides entertained us with traditional drumming. It was very hot in the tents - again to be expected in August - in fact, some people slept outside. We got up around 6am so we could walk up the dunes to see the sunrise - despite being a bit hazy, it was worth it and we got amazing photos of the dunes. Day 3 - after breakfast and showers at the Berber camp, we set off again with Ali, visiting a large souk on market day in a local town (so much nicer to visit with Ali than wander around the Marrakesh souks without a guide!) and then drove through the palm tree valleys back to Ouazarzate, where we were staying the night. The riad hotel was clean and comfortable and had a small indoor pool which was very welcome after our travels. We had a nice evening meal there - as there were 5 of us we were able to order 5 different Moroccan dishes (tagines, pastilles, coucous) so we could share and taste a bit of everything. Day 4 - first stop Atlas studios on the outskirts of Ouazarzate, this is where films such as Gladiator and Ben Hue were filmed. We had a great tour of the film sets with another very knowledgeable guide. We also shot a mini film on the Cleopatra set on the phone of one of our tour group, so now everyone in the group has that as a fun souvenir of the visit! It was optional to visit the studios but it was a great tour so I would recommend doing this as an extra - definitely fun for the family. We then went on with Ali to Ait Benhaddou - again the scene of Gladiator, Game of Thrones etc- a spectacular kasbah. Ali suggested we climb up a hill just beside the kasbah to get the best views and photos, which was a great idea. He also had lots to tell us about the history of Benhaddou. After this vsiit, we headed back to Marrakesh via another very scenic route to the high pass through the Atlas Mountains. I would definitely recommend Morocco Joy - it’s a a family run company, we immediately felt so comfortable with Ali, he’s a very cool, chilled out guy, he took great care of us, he was fun to travel with, letting the kids choose songs on Spotify in the car, stopping at the best photo spots and taking photos of our family - which is fab as we usually don’t get photos of all 5 of us. He taught us so much about Morocco, the Berbers, the history of the country and its culture. His English is excellent. I do not think we could have found a better tour or guide. We’d love to go on another Morocco Joy tour soon!

Ali was an incredible guide and I would thoroughly recommend booking with Morocco Joy Travel. We travelled with our 2 kids (8 &9) and Ali made it such a wonderful adventure for our family. He was so warm and kind, knowledgeable and thoughtful. We opted for the luxury accommodation and it surpassed our expectations. There was a lot of driving but the vehicle was very comfortable and Ali was so knowledgeable and a pleasure to tour with. We are left with wonderful memories of sunsets, fossil digging, sand dune exploring, camel riding, drum playing, spectacular scenery, delicious meals…thank you Ali…we cannot wait to visit again!

It is located 80 km from the High Atlas mountain range, a majestic natural site where you can practice many activities. From downhill skiing to bivouacking in the Agafay mineral desert, which offers white dunes of rocks, there is something for everyone. Closer to the High Walls, you may prefer windsurfing on an oasis (at Lake Lalla Takerkoust) or golfing for an entire round in the city, in the steps of Winston Churchill. You have multiple choices of activities in Marrakech, from wandering through the souks to visiting Saadian tombs (which steles are made of cedar woof and stucco). You can also recharge your batteries in the poetic blue hues of the Majorelle Garden, discover a madrasa (Koranic University dating back to the 16 th century) which displays wonders of Arabic and Andalusian architecture. January 11: manifesto of independence (national).

Morocco commemorates the signing of the Proclamation of 11 January 1944 or the ‘Manifesto of Independence of Morocco’. The manifesto consolidated and formally endorsed the national position which led to the end of French colonisation and the start of the country’s independence in 1956.

THIRD MONTH OF THE ISLAMIC CALENDAR (DATE CHANGES EACH YEAR): BIRTH OH THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (EID MAWLID AL-NABI) (NATIONAL)

This day, which celebrates the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, is one of the most important in the Muslim calendar. For the occasion, Moroccan Muslims recognise the values advocated by the Prophet. It’s also an opportunity for families to gather and share traditional meals in a festive atmosphere.

MAY 1: LABOUR DAY (NATIONAL)

Ninth month of the islamic calendar (dates change each year): ramadan (celebrated nationwide).

Morocco celebrates the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, during which the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Fasting begins each day at sunrise and ends at sunset. For the entire month, Marrakech operates at a slower pace during the day and stirs into action at nightfall.

FIRST DAY OF THE TENTH MONTH OF THE ISLAMIC CALENDAR (DATES CHANGE EACH YEAR): EID AL-FITR (NATIONAL HOLIDAY)

In Islam, this day marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and is a time for family celebrations and great feasts bringing together all family members.

JULY 30: THRONE DAY (NATIONAL)

This national holiday commemorates the enthronement of King Mohammed VI. Major festivities mark this holiday: parades, ceremonies, and official speeches and fireworks… The Moroccan metropolis is jubilant.

AUGUST 14: FEAST OF OUED ED-DAHAB (NATIONAL)

This holiday marks the return of the Oued Ed-Dahab region to Morocco on 14 August 1979, celebrated as a major milestone in the kingdom’s national reunification process.

AUGUST 20: REVOLUTION OF THE KING AND THE PEOPLE (NATIONAL)

This symbolic day recalls the deportation of King Mohammed V after his dismissal by the French authorities in 1953. Military parades, fireworks, and flags flying from the windows: Moroccans show the attachment they have for their King in a festive celebration.

AUGUST 21: FESTIVAL OF YOUTH (NATIONAL)

Moroccan youth are celebrated on the anniversary of the birth of Mohammed VI. Shows, dances, happenings: the children of Marrakech play joyfully in the streets of the city.

TENTH DAY OF THE LAST MONTH OF THE ISLAMIC CALENDAR (DATE CHANGES EACH YEAR): EID AL-ADHA (NATIONAL HOLIDAY)

It is considered the most important of the yearly Muslim holidays and honours Ibrahim as a model for all believers. This is also an occasion for sumptuous family gatherings, for which it is recommended to multiply offerings and gifts.

NOVEMBER 6: GREEN MARCH (NATIONAL)

National Day inaugurated by Hassan II, commemorating the march of 350,000 Moroccans to the Spanish Sahara to which Morocco claimed possession.

NOVEMBER 18: INDEPENDENCE DAY (NATIONAL)

On this day of national celebration, Morocco celebrates the end of the French protectorate, which occurred in 1956.

DECEMBER 31: NEW YEAR'S EVE (NATIONAL)

To see in the New Year on 31 December, Marrakech puts on a host of lively events featuring local food and drink, spices, traditional dancing and music. The extravagance of the Arabian nights takes over restaurants and nightclubs across the city.

The Marrakech-Menara International Airport is located approximately 5 km (three miles) southwest of Marrakech's city centre.

• Terminal 1 (Air France)

Travelling between Marrakech and the airport:

• The airport is accessible by car via the Guemassa Avenue. Allow approximately between 15 to 20 minutes to reach the city centre.
• There are three car parks with a total capacity of 1,550 spaces. Expect to pay MAD 5 for one hour and MAD 38 for 12-24 hours.
• Several car rental companies are located in the arrivals area of Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
• The bus line 19 runs from the airport every 20 to 30 minutes, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., serving the major areas of the city (Jemaa el-Fna, Hivernage, Bab Doukkala, Guéliz, Marrakech railway station). The fare is MAD 30.
• Taxi ranks are located at the exit of terminal 1. Taxis are available 24/7. The trip to the city centre takes about 15 minutes and costs MAD 70.
• Services: shops, bars, restaurants, free Internet access (Wi-Fi), currency exchange, banks, ATMs, and a post office are all to be found in the airport.

Traffic in Marrakech is often chaotic. The ideal way to explore the city's tourist attractions is on foot, especially inside the medina, where vehicles are almost forbidden.

Visitors hardly take the bus since it is easy to get around on foot, and also because the taxi fares are affordable. However, some bus lines going to "La ville nouvelle", from Place Foucauld at almost regular intervals and can be handy, especially line 1 (Mohammed V-Guéliz Avenue), lines 3 and 10 (medina-bus station), lines 11 and 18 (Medina-jardins de la Ménara), and lines 4 and 12 (Jardin Majorelle-medina).

Caleches (horse drawn carriages) are located on the place de Foucauld (nearby Jemaa el-Fna square), or in the Hivernage district (on the outskirts of the main hotels, all along the el-Qadissia avenue and Echouhada avenue).

The fare is MAD 150 per hour (except for short rides in the medina which cost only MAD 20). Count 1 hour and a half to go around the ramparts and 3 hours for the Palmeraie tour.

Taxis are useful for certain rides, particularly in the « Ville Nouvelle », around the Majorelle and the Menara gardens. The beige “petits taxis” in the city are easy to get and are equipped with a meter. The drivers usually charge between MAD 30 for a ride during the day and add an extra fee of MAD 10 at night. For your safety, never get in a taxi that does not show or use a meter.

As for the "grands taxis", (Mercedes cars that you can see nearby the "petit taxi" station and the famous hotels), they do not use a meter and even after driving a hard bargain, the fare will still be more expensive than the "petit taxi", but they are allowed to pick up a maximum of 6 passengers, and drive you outside the city.

You can rent a "grand taxi" to visit Essaouira (around MAD 1000 round trip) or the Ourika Valley (around MAD 700 for one day).

Using a car in the city centre is not recommended. If you really need one, ask your hotel to recommend specific car rental agencies.

Marrakshis love to ride a bike in the medina, where several bike lanes have been secured. Beyond this zone, it is not recommended to ride a bike. If you do go further out, do it under the strict supervision of experienced guides who will guarantee your safety. To rent a bike, count around MAD 200 per day.
