Maverick Sabre is a singer/songwriter hailing from Hackney, London, England who was born on July 12th 1990. Since his debut in 2008 he has released one studio album with a second set for release in 2015, and has collaborated with everyone from Professor Green to George The Poet.

Born Michael Stafford in Hackney, East London, Maverick Sabre grew up in New Ross, County Wexford, Ireland having moved there with his family at the age of four. Four years later he heard Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and realized that making music was what he wanted to do with his life. He wrote his first song the very same year, at the age of eight, and by his early teens was an integral part of Ireland’s small but thriving hip-hop scene. It got to the point where he was tapped for support slots with international names like The Game, and crucially Plan B, by the time he reached sixteen. Plan B was so taken with Stafford’s voice that he suggested that he move to London in order to pursue a proper career in music, and by the age of 17, Stafford was based back in his town of birth, with the music world at his feet.

At first he collaborated with as many underground rappers as were willing to work with him, spreading his name throughout the scene until November 2010, when he released his debut solo mixtape “The Travelling Man”. Mere months after the mixtape’s release he signed to Impala Records for the release of his debut single “Sometimes” in 2011. This gave him enough exposure to come to the attention of dubstep duo Chase And Status, who had him feature on their hit album “No More Idols”. He spent the rest of the year appearing with anyone who would have him, collaborating with Professor Green, appearing on Chris Moyles’ radio show and touring with The Script. So by the time he released his first single on a major label in July 2011, he’d made enough of a name for himself for it to hurtle into the charts at number 16.

2012 saw the release of his debut album “Lonely Are The Brave”, it debuted at number two on the album charts and he’s been one of the most exciting new talents in U.K R&B ever since then. With a new album dropping imminently, Maverick Sabre comes highly recommended.

Live reviews

If you look at chart music from the last decade or so, it’s not difficult to spot certain trends. It’s incredible to think that Adele, who, with 21, produced one of the best-selling records in history, might never have had her break if it wasn’t for the fact that Amy Winehouse proved there was a market for blue-eyed soul; the same can be said for Duffy’s signing, too. That same trend - artist unexpectedly makes it big, similar, derivative peers are signed off the back of it - can also be observed in the rise to prominence of Maverick Sabre - a rough around the edges singer who also raps here and there? What a coincidence that he should suddenly pop up after Plan B, in that same style, had one of the biggest records of the past decade with The Defamation of Strickland Banks. To his credit, though, he’s managed to carve out a sizeable fanbase, with his debut album, Lonely Are the Brave, going in at number two on the UK charts. He’s also sold-out Academy-sized rooms with ease across the country, delivering live sets that saw him play guitar throughout - more than you can say for Plan B - as well as drop the odd cover into his set, including a smart reinterpretation of Oasis’ well-worn ‘Wonderwall’. His second, as-yet untitled album is set for release before the year’s out, and he’s already lined up a UK tour for October.

In 2010 it seemed very possible that Hackney born singer/songwriter Michael Stafford was destined to become the UK's next big thing. At the age of just 22 he released an accomplished and considered soul and blues album which proved his versatility as a musician and intelligence as a songwriter.

With a live show to match the large shadow cast by his album, he took the UK by storm as fans and newcomers alike packed out venues in order to see Sabre recreate the gravelled tones of the debut. With a sound that seems far beyond his years, his gruff, deep voice sounds phenomenal from the offset as he tears into the familiar stylings of 'Open My Eyes'. He works through the main body of his debut with highlights in the form of the contemplative 'I Used to Have it All' and the early single 'Let Me Go'. Performing an acoustic led version of a Chase & Status collaboration chills the mood before the soul drive is turned to maximum for 'I Need' which remains his high point of a career thus far.

I expected a lot and received more. The opening acts were funny and talented and stellar and built nicely to Mr Sabre :). The venue was cozy and the sound was great. Friendly and fantastic staff.

Maverick Sabre was the consummate showman, easily building the energy in the venue and expressing his art. I have no doubt he will soon be an international rock star, and we got to see him in this great spot.

The set was excellent. The Sound Engineer was really on that night and Maverick sounded wonderful. Having Jorja Smith show up was a tremendous surprise. I could have listened all night.

This was my first time at the Echo. Security was pleasant, diligent and quick. Security can ruin a night before it even begins but not in this case.

The Bar was well stocked and affordable. A nice change from other venues.

The venue was intimate, a little warm... but the vibe was amazing.

I had the best time. Great gig. Super romantic at points, and an emotional journey. Learnt a lot about him during the performance. Highly recommend you go and see him!!

I've seen Maverick in Paris and in Los Angeles. The intimacy of the venue helped with the chills and vibes factor. But this man's main instrument - his voice and his voice's ability to hold you close is continually revelatory. And when he holds a note and holds you there, face your hope, despair, longing and joy. Just all that.

The show in Dublin was absolutely amazing! Maverick Sabre knows what he's doing,how to communicate with the crowd,how to fill everybody's heart with light and peace and joy! He sounds live even better. You just sing with him as loud as you can,his energy is passing to you...For sure I gonna see him again on another gig.

Maverick Sabre done an acoustic set that was very much as exciting, as having a full band. He commanded my attention with his flawless yet raw vocals. The supporting acts were in line with the vibes that Maverick is out here promoting. I very much enjoyed the show and look forward to seeing him again.

Gig in smaller basement so while quite tight for room more intimate feel. This was Mav with mojo obviously invigorated by the independent process. Plenty of support from the crowd, atmosphere was electric

Great gig, brilliant performance. Crowd were great, a lot of participation. excellent vocal sound for a low key gig. Would've loved an encore but a man needs his chicken!!!

Maverick Sabre has announced a new album, and a UK and Ireland tour

'Don't Forget To Look Up', the follow-up to 2019's 'When I Wake Up', will arrive on January 28 though FAMM. The singer, songwriter and rapper will support the record with shows in Dublin, Cork, Nottingham, Oxford, Brighton, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester and London, where he'll conclude the run at the Alexandra Palace Theatre on March 10.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on November 5. Meanwhile, head below to check out his new single, Walk These Days, alongside the album's artwork and tracklist.

News: Maverick Sabre Confirms New 9 Date UK And Ireland Tour

Maverick Sabre has announced a 9 date UK tour alongside the much-anticipated fourth LP Don’t Forget To Look Up, out 28th January 2022 via FAMM. Tickets are available here: http://gigst.rs/MavSabPR

The follow up to 2019’s When I Wake Up, the introspective 12-track release was conceived in lockdown and sees Maverick examine and unpick love in its various iterations. Traversing recollections of previous relationships, to examining the societal pressures placed on couples, Don’t Forget To Look Up is both intimate and inquisitive at the same time.

From the brooding vulnerability of opener ‘Falling’, to his recent Demae collaboration ‘Not Easy Love’ (which saw support from the likes of Crack, Complex, District, TRENCH, TLOBF and more), this sublime body of work places Maverick’s sultry tones in centre stage.

Calling on the legendary Nile Rogers to provide the guitar on the shimmering, disco cut ‘Get Down’ and the vocal acrobatics of Sasha Keable for the evocative ‘Middle of Eden’ – Maverick carefully weaves collaborators through the project. A truly multifaceted artist, Don’t Forget To Look Up sees Maverick step up on production duties – producing half the tracks on the album.

Maverick today shares the second release from the project, ‘Walk These Days’. Pairing a hypnotic half-sung half-rapped chorus with ethereal instrumentation, the single marks a divine taste of what’s to come from the album.

Maverick will be returning to the stage in 2022 for a 9-date UK + IRE tour, commencing with a homecoming show at The Academy, Dublin on 17th Feb and closing on 10th March at the Alexandra Palace Theater, London. Presale opens at 9am on Weds 3rd Nov with tickets on general sale from 9am Friday 8th Nov.

Minnesota state wins the 2024 ncaa division ii men's basketball championship.

Minnesota State is the 2024 NCAA Division II men's basketball champion after beating Nova Southeastern 88-85 off a game-winning three pointer with less than a second on the clock.

This victory came one day after the Minnesota State women won their respective title .

DII NCAA men's basketball championship history

The Division II men's basketball championship consists of a 64-team field with eight qualifiers from each region competing at a single regional site. Twenty-three teams earn automatic qualifications and the remaining 41 receive at-large bids to the tournament. Once the eight regionals conclude, respective teams will advance to the Men's Elite Eight at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

The DII men's basketball national championship dates back to 1957, skipping 2020 due to COVID-19, with the first-ever championship trophy going to Wheaton (Ill.). Kentucky Wesleyan is the winningest team, with eight national championships. Evansville follows with five titles.

We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
