Mixed Review

Found this place by accident since the other mainstream restaurants in the Tagaytay area are full and the wait-time is crazy. Place has parking in front of the restaurant and near it. At first you would think it’s just a small restaurant, only to be surprised that it is really spacious and has an amazing view of the Taal Lake and the green lowlands. Order arrived after around 20 minutes. The squidballs and kikiam is served with suka-toyo dip with onions and chillies. Good thing about this place is you only pay for one cup of rice, all the succeeding ones are unlimited! ✅ unli rice after you pay for your first ✅ chicharon bulaklak – tasty but they could improve on the oiliness ✅ squidball and kikiam – normal. Better if with the appropriate sauce ❌ bulalo – lacks flavor. And super tigas ng meat ✅ lechon belly – masarap and crispy ang balat ✅ chopsuey – okay naman ✅ ensaladang mangga – good side dish Martin J L⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great location, generous serving, good food and unli-rice. They have a great view of the lake. I can also see the Taal volcano from our spot. Away from the noisy and very busy part of Tagaytay. Jun Cabrera⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

12. Viewsite Restaurant and Events Place

must visit resto in tagaytay

This place is one that i can sincerely recommend. Been here twice and the food is consistently good. As everyones knows there’s so many restaurants in Tagaytay serving the same and usual dishes like bulalo, tawilis, crispy pata and the likes. But the food here at Viewsite are consistently good and absolutely inexpensive. The Karekare is rich and loaded but doesnt take like karekare mix. The bagoong is addictive with the perfect saltyness and sweetness. The adobong pusit is as good and tasty as Aling Tonya’s of Seaside, Dampa. Atmosphere and ambiance are a-ok despite being located beside the highway. Plenty of parking. Julian Keith Muncal (Juls)⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The waiters are inattentive. They can’t even give a glass of water for you while you wait. The food is just fine, but the time you’ll wait for the order is very long. Our Tawalis is so late it’s a waste. The good thing about here is there Bulalo soup which is tasty. Frederick Talania⭐

11. Zushi Me Lake View, Tagaytay

must visit resto in tagaytay

We chanced upon this place when we couldn’t find a decent restaurant that was still open at 9pm in Tagaytay. We visited in April and no A/C was necessary as the nighttime breeze was more than enough. I ordered the Tantanmen ramen and it was huge that I couldn’t finish it; the soup was rich and the toppings were generous. My partner got their katsudon, and he said it was good and he wanted more so the deal-breaker was the serving wasn’t enough for him. The salmon sashimi was fresh! It’s served on this ice bed so it can stay fresh. Not in the picture is the takoyaki which was great as well. For the price, it was worth it. We all know that sashimi is expensive but I think our total bill was only around 800 (we didn’t order drinks). We’d definitely come back. Sao Auste⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
In and of itself, the food are delicious and reasonably priced but taste not as authentic Japanese as can be. The menu was overwhelming with options but several items we not available, even some which the server thought was available. The rice meals were the best value. The tonkotsu ramen was okay but I’ve had tastier Japanese ramen at the same price point. The sashimi platter was on the pricey end since there were more crabsticks than raw salmon and tuna, I couldn’t tell too if the mackarel was cooked or marinated in salt/vinegar as should be since it was bland. The takoyaki tastes fine but was not served piping hot and was a bit on the dry side. As a cozy hangout at pet-friendly resto, this place deserves a thumbs up, not lacking in ambiance both of the Japanese izakaya and the spectacular sight overlooking the majestic taal lake. If you want the energy of an izakaya, go towards the evening but if you want cozy, relaxed, and quite private private dining, go before lunch time — you might even have the entire place to yourself to snap your next Japanese-inspired photos. The staff were courteous and attentive but don’t expect to hear back immediately if inquiring via their official FB page. Would I come back to dine again? YES!!! I’d even bring friends along next time as long as they are not a food critic like me. Recz Baltazar⭐⭐⭐⭐

10. Golden View Grill Cafè and Restaurant

must visit resto in tagaytay

Golden View Grill Cafè and Restaurant is an underrated Filipino restaurant in Calaca, Batangas, just a little farther away from the Tagaytay tourist crowds. It’s located along the scenic and peaceful Diokno highway. Really good Filipino food, deserves a 5-star because of delicious dishes and excellent service. Amazing view of Tagaytay greens from their 2nd floor. I specifically loved their Iced Coffee! Make sure to order that. The place deserves a bit of a facelift, especially the furniture and diningware. Overall I would recommend it to motorists and riders passing by the area. Benedict Isles⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
relaxing ambience far from bustle of tagaytay; quick eats. tasty and authentic suman awesome-paired with kapeng barako. normal bulalo; can’t compare with Mahogany’s. customer service could improve a lot. has parking and extra parking opposite road albert joseph de ocampo⭐⭐⭐

9. Taza Fresh Table

must visit resto in tagaytay

Tucked away in an alcove between the main wing and the expansion wing of Taal Vista Hotel, Taza is a restaurant you definitely want to try if you’re in the area. It’s quite pricey – as it’s a hotel restaurant – but the food is definitely worth the price. I particularly liked their Chicken Liver in Garlic Mezze. It’s not the ground up mezze you’d expect, but the flavor notes in this simple dish will surprise you! Booie M⭐⭐⭐⭐
Searched for an alternate place in Tagaytay for lunch as our original target place had like 3 hours waiting time. Yeah yeah the part of the restaurant where reservations allowed was full. So we decided to roll the dice and we lose. So with all the hassle of driving through narrow streets and walking from parking, i thought I’d give myself a break and find one that has a great view of Taal and with ‘no-hassle’ parking. Searched and Voila! TAZA is in Taal Vista Hotel – Fairly good ratings and of course big parking space so.. Go kami! Started with the Flat Bread with 4 dips, It’s ok but having tasted a lot of Mediterranean/middle eastern dips, it left me wanting as my tastebuds and thoughts were comparing them from Marcia Adam’s and Hossein’s. Not a fair fight. The much vaunted Mushroom soup was ‘as advertised’. Sublime and earthy but surprisingly refreshing – i should have ordered two! This is how mushroom soup should be. The Pasta too did not disappoint! The Carbonara was ‘Herb-ie’ i.e. spices had just the right touch and it had just enough richness that did not overpower. Me wondering if this is one of those “milk/cream-less” ones. Ink squid was tasty and delicious as well and yes it doesn’t have the fishy (lansa) taste so you can tell that the squid was fresh, soft and well-prepared. Got disappointed with the Steak though. Ordered the Rib-eye and the NY Strip, asked for ‘Medium’ but we got ‘Medium-well’ to well-done instead. I know this is not gourmet steak quality so my expectations were not that high. But because of the done-ness, much negotiations between teeth and meat had to happen. The sidings were great and generous but sadly the gravy was almost tasteless and watery. Sayang, panalo yung pasta pero nahatak pababa nung steak ang overall food experience. The ambiance is another story of course because it gives you the full majestic view of Taal lake and you can’t ever go wrong with that. Digital Dela Cruz⭐⭐⭐

8. Green ATS Restaurant

must visit resto in tagaytay

The Place They are located in the main road so quite accessible but also means they are pretty busy with lots of vehicle traffic. Parking is somewhat limited and located across the street. There’s a couple of guys assisting customer to cross this busy road and that could be frightening. My kids and wife were terrified as there were some crazy drivers at the time and one of the assistants were not paying attention. The Experience The place has a nice ambiance. They had several spots where you can sit. They had a kubo (with price tags of how much you need to consume so you can sit in there). It also felt like you are in the countryside with how they decorated the place. Having a lot of reviews and being popular would make you think that this restaurant caters to different types of payment but No. I didnt see any signs at the front that they only do cash payment. I only learned about it when we were sitting down. Of course, my initial reaction was to say why “Dont you have card or gcash payments?” They said they were working on getting it done but dont have that service yet. And then I started to count my cash. Unfortunately, we didnt have enough cash and I had to get me some cash. The nearest ATM Machine was 1km away and whether you take your car or walk, it would be almost the same amount of time. It took me 20-25 minutes to walk back and forth. I wasnt happy at all and told myself, the food better be good. We ordered a pitcher of Iced tea. After it arrived we noticed that it had and insect floating and so we asked for it to be changed. So they took it away and gave us another pitcher that didnt have any insects. I also noticed that one of the glasses they gave us was cloudy and has a lot of grime. So I asked one of the waitresses to get it and give me a new one and explained to her why. After about 5-10 minutes, I asked another waiter to get me a new glass because the other was taking so long. After another 10 minutes, I asked another waitress why it’s taking a long time to get a new glass? Finally, I got my glass after waiting another 2 minutes. The Food We saw this place with lots of review and topping at above 4 stars but dont be fooled not all of what they serve are up to par with the rating. The sisig was very delicious, smokey and a hint of spice. The Bulalo was just ordinary. They said that it was one of their best sellers but it didnt taste that much. The Tawilis was interesting as it was soft but crunchy at the same time. It tasted as what you would expect. It was served with a tiny amount of Achara which made me sad. Summary I am not sure if I would recommend this place to others. The service wasn’t great. Although the price was similar to other areas, there are restaurants that have better food and ambiance. I do hope that they can somehow improve their service to customers and have other modes of payments. Davis Apas (Personal)⭐⭐
I’ve been here before a few times but never actually took the time to review it. A good place to be at with a great view of the lake while you get some good Filipino food when you’re in Tagaytay. Bulalo and crispy tawilis are staples while you’re in Tagaytay but I recommend their Kare-kare, Inihaw na Liempo, and Lechon Kawali as well. They have a wide array of dessert selections too. Really cozy space and relaxing views with the breeze will make you feel at ease. The parking is on the other side of the road though so that’s something you’re gonna have to think about if you plan on dining here. Joey Snow⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

7. Viewsite Restaurant Mahogany

Good bulalo. Good value for money. For 1,400 we had two sets of Bulalo and 2 sets of veggies and rice for 10 pax. The restaurant is clean, staff are accommodating and serves your order fast. With parking area. Ample dining area, they also have space at the second floor. Kc Teodoro⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It is our first time trying their food and it was awful. We were wondering what special order looks like especially the Bulalo and I was ballistic over a 2 piece of thin beef shanks supposed to be for a steak otherwise our classic known bulalo looks like for above pricing 600+ pesos. Bangus and lechon kawali was overcooked, sisig got no atleast a sprinkle of onion. Lastly, that chopsuey got no flavor to it. The service and parking was good but overall we will not recommend this restaurant big time. Big disappointment and regretful. Dennuel Capili⭐

6. Papa Doms Bar and Restaurant – Tagaytay

Chill place to drink. The ambiance is good. Better when the weather is cold and the air is blowing. It’s good to have a good time here. The drinks are good. So many choices, cocktails and beers. 130 pesos pero cocktail drink and there’s also bucket of beers. Eirish Chrystelle Esmas⭐⭐⭐⭐
It’s a perfect place to party and chill. Their drinks were budget-friendly . I personally love the chicken fingers and tequila rose here. Plus, it gives you this amazing night view . Just Camila⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

5. Marcia Adams’ Restaurant

Beautiful ambience with lots of flowers with a fantastic view of the sunset. The service was attentive and fast. A wonderful location for a romantic evening or an event. The sets come with a main, with a dip, bread and a dessert. Everything was delicious. The kebabs were wonderfully done. Jodi Lee⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The only thing better than the view from this place is the food! I was fortunate enough to try their mushroom soup, hummus, and steak—all were savory, scrumptious, and worth the price. Unfortunately, I can no longer recall the dessert I ordered, but I do remember that it was the perfect end to my meal. I’d give this place 5-stars but waiting time was longer than expected. This was after the staff told us that it was “almost our turn” every 5 minutes for the entirety of an hour. The experience was still worth it. Ben Kageyama⭐⭐⭐⭐

4. Sonya’s Garden

must visit resto in tagaytay

THE FOOD IS MOUTH WATERING AND THE SERVICE IS SUPERB!!!!! I don’t know where to start, but the place is so pleasant! The bathroom was also clean! The waiters are polite and says “You’re welcome!” and they are quick to respond on our requests!!!!! The food—-best tasting carbonara sauce ever! They provide us meals/course per plate and they serve the right amount of servings so that no food gets wasted! The meat was tender, the salad tastes good with the sauce, they brought the pasta along with two choices of sauces and you can request for coffee and/or chamomile tea. Not to mention the immediate serving of water and freshly squeezed dalandan juice to ready your palate to an awesome treat! After you dine, you can even explore the garden and immerse to a flowery adventure that will make you appreciate the beauty of nature. I love this place and it is worth visiting in your next Tagaytay trip! Isis Danielle⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Felt they destroy the family spirit of sharing. Felt that they forcefully ask you to order their buffet so you can order other stuff. We were not able to order other food unless you order their buffet. Ended up having half of our family buffet and half topping up other food. Since there is no sharing policy on buffet, we were sitting in one table but felt we were not family bec we cant share food. Why do we have to get buffet before we can order regular ala cart food ? Can we order full ala cart worth 1000+ per head? Our bill if to order ala cart (for sharing) is more than the bill of if we get the buffet. I am still understanding the reason behind their policy that you cant dine if you dont get the buffet. Btw, grilled chicken on the buffet is dry and overdosed with salt. 2 stars to compliment the salad and the ambiance. No stars for.the overall expereince. Allan Del Mundo⭐⭐

3. La Creperie – Twin Lakes Tagaytay

must visit resto in tagaytay

The view is spectacular but we went on a Sunday so it’s expected to be crowded and we were not able to sit on the al fresco area. Indoor seats are enough. Otherwise, their service is excellent. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Serving time is just right. I loved their hot chocolate. Just the right amount of sweetness. Their truffle pasta is perfectly cooked and their Matcha Crepe cake is unexpectedly my favorite. Alyanna Brillantes⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was during our staycation in Tagaytay. Since that time it was too crowded on a weekend plus the Hotel where we stayed is just below this area, so better not to go farther anymore or you’llregret the bad traffic around Tagaytay. Here we got our table outside. Since I not raining , it’s nice to eat at the Garden dining table. It’s windy, cold and has a nice view to look at while eating. They have Salad, Pasta, Burger and so much more. Unshakable Foodie⭐⭐⭐⭐

2. Bag of Beans Athena Branch

must visit resto in tagaytay

It’s always a pleasant experience when we go to Bag of Beans. It’s my first time to try this branch. The place is really calm and relaxing. I love the greenery and the decors. The food and beverages are really yummy! Everything we had tasted wonderful. My favorite was the grilled salmon. Lolli Mae Guab⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
First time visiting this place, it was well hidden. If you don’t see the sign that says “Bag of beans” you won’t notice it. It’s like a gem you need to look for intentionally. The place is neat, OPEN, CLEAN and the staff are attentive. No complains too. We enjoyed the food and our stay. After being cooped up inside for a very long time, it’s so nice to just stare far away, sniff the fresh air and enjoy good food. They Accept Card transactions. Their menu is similar to other branches. We ordered, Fish & Chips(Mashed potato), Banana Split, and 2 cups of coffee. All were great with good price to value ratio. If you drive a “manual transmission” vehicle and are scared of steep slopes, this might not be for you. Chose the other branches, they are more or less the same. Rocky Velasco⭐⭐⭐⭐

1. Breakfast at Antonio’s

must visit resto in tagaytay

Celebrated my birthday here last Sunday, and the staff even made me a birthday pudding! I love the vibe of this place, and the food was delicious. I especially loved their salad and beef ribs. We arrived at around 10 a.m., and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated. Parking is available, and you will need to fill out their form so you can be given a spot to dine in. They do not accept reservations, so be ready to wait. Bathrooms were clean, and the decor, rustic. Check out their bakeshop, too, for some baked goodies! Mitchie de Vera⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What an amazing breakfast. We came all the way from Manila for this and boy were we blown away. Outstanding choices of breakfast for every one, perfect fusion and great atmosphere. The service was quick and on point and food waa great. The drive was fantastic as well. Must visit of you are in the area. shankar ramachandran⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Taal Volcano and Lake

From  CNN Traveler

It’s just sad that as of the writing, the Taal Volcano recently recorded a phreatomagmatic eruption in the afternoon of July 1, 2021. This resulted in the evacuation of residents and ultimately the temporary closure of some businesses and restaurants. Usually, there are a lot of activities that can be done in Taal Lake and Volcano, however, visiting it now is not advisable because it poses a legitimate threat to everybody.

Moreover, because of Taal Volcano’s recent eruption last January 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot has changed. Tourists should be aware of current health and safety protocols to avoid unnecessary hassles. Other than that, get ready and have a memorable adventure during your visit to Tagaytay!
