Bollyco Live Presents: The Quick Style

'Where Music Meets Dance' : A Show of Two Parts'

The Quick Style is the most innovative, creative and diverse dance group on the internet right now. Having taken social media by storm, they are now conquering the entire globe, country by country. Brought to you by London's own BollyCo, this is their FIRST Official Headline show in the UK. Supporting Quick Style will be the musical group 'Hunterz', whose musical repertoire spans from Indian Pop to Urban, and Bhangra. In the early 2000's, Hunterz were the pioneers defining UK-Asian sounds. They paved the way for many more South Asian artists to break into the music scene.  With the recent emergence of viral dances, came the re-emergence of some of Hunterz most coveted tracks. This has led to a new generation of listeners, and a reconnection to earlier fans able to re-appreciate the nostalgia and talent behind their sounds. The synergy between music and dance has never been more evident. It is BollyCo's mission to highlight and support the role of dance and dancers within the entertainment industry by creating platforms like this show. Join us for a celebration like no other!

The show will be hosted by BBC Asian Network's Haroon Rashid 

Doors open at 6pm- you can eat, drink, mix and mingle while enjoying our pre-entertainment. The seated show will begin promptly at 7:30pm. Latecomers may not be admitted.

Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is situated inside the former Fountain Studios, a building rich with decades of entertainment history. A short walk from Wembley Park station which is just 12 minutes from Baker Street, Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is located in the heart of Wembley Park, North West London's world famous cultural neighbourhood.

Underground and Train

Wembley Park station is a short, five minute walk from the theatre, and the most convenient way to reach the theatre. With connections to the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, Wembley Park is just 12 minutes from Baker Street, and easily accessible from Central London and stations to Amersham, Chesham, Stanmore, Uxbridge and Watford.

The theatre is served by the following bus routes: 83, 92, 182, 206, 223, 245, 297, 440, 483

Small bags can be stored under your seat, larger items can be stored in the cloakroom where there is a fee of £1 per item.

We will always do our best to admit any latecomers into the auditorium as soon as we can. Please be aware that if you arrive late to the theatre you may be asked to wait for a suitable break before entering the auditorium, which may be the interval. You may be asked to sit in different seats to those which you originally booked until the interval in order to minimise disruption to those customers already inside the auditorium. If you leave the auditorium during the performance to use the toilet, bar, or for any other reason you may have to wait until a suitable break in the performance before being able to re-enter. This may be the interval.

The safety and security of our guests, performers and staff is always our top priority, and as such all bags will be checked on your way into the theatre. In order to speed up your entry process, please refrain from bringing large bags or suitcases

Yes. It opens 45 minutes prior to the performance start time, serving a wide range of soft and alcoholic drinks, including a number of locally sourced items. A selection of light snacks are also available from the bar. In order to help us serve you as quickly as possible, all of our sales points accept card payments only.

Is there a carpark?

We do not have an on-site car park at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. We are situated five minutes walk from Wembley Park underground station and we strongly recommend you to travel to the theatre using public transport. If you plan to visit us by car, Wembley Park's Red car parks is a short walk away from the theatre. Please note that we do not manage this car park. Wembley Stadium and the SSE Arena are both very close to the theatre. On event days, parking space is extremely limited and prices can increase. Plan your journey in advance, contacting the car park if necessary before travelling.

WHERE MUSIC MEETS DANCE

It’s a show of two halves, the first being a musical act supported by dancers (Hunterz x BollyCo); the second being a dance act, supported by music (The Quick Style).

The show will end with a Q&A by BBC Radio Host, Haroon Rashid, who will also Present the entire show and introduce each act.

Quick Style, the all-male dance group based in Norway that went viral on the internet through Indian music dance numbers, is on a visit to India. They shared this news with their followers on their Instagram story. The group shared videos of their flight journey to India.

The group became a viral sensation on the internet after dropping hit performances on top Bollywood songs like 'Sadi Galli' from the film ' Tanu Weds Manu" and "Kala Chashma" from "Baar Baar Dekho."

Recently, their dance performance, which was based on the tune of an old Kishore Kumar song, also went viral on social media.

EXCLUSIVE| Quick Style on their maiden India trip: It’s so colourful, we took a local train trip, had Indian burger!

Boy dance group, quick style (or as they are popularly called- the kala chashma boys), posed exclusively for ht city and get talking about their first india trip..

It’s been almost one year since we first chatted with Quick Style. Cut to today, the Norwegian dance group has amassed over 10 crore views on the YouTube video of its members dancing to Kala Chashma ( Baar Baar Dekho , 2016) and Chura Ke Dil Mera ( Main Khiladi Tu Anari , 1994). They have also joined hands with some of the biggest names in entertainment. The past year, in their own words, has been nothing but “surreal”.

We caught up with the dance group — currently on their maiden trip to India — for a fun, exclusive shoot in Mumbai. “India is so colourful, people [here] are so nice. We are learning every day,” Bilal Malik, the group’s co-founder, tells us, as we settle down for a chat after the shoot. Another founding member, Nasir Sirikhan, chimes in, “More than half of our following is from here, they’ve been supporting us for 10 years! We’ve been wanting to come here for a decade now.”

But, what took them long? “Often, when we want to do something, the opposite happens. This is our story,” Sirikhan replies, adding, “We came to India just for a handshake, but we got a hug! In just three-four days, it (India) feels like home.”

A meet-and-greet was also planned during their visit, which got sold out in no time!

Of late, Quick Style has been collaborating with a host of big names, the latest to join the list being former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. “We are meeting great people and working with a lot of talented people behind the scenes as well. There’s a very genuine connection when we meet them. That’s how the outcome is so cool. We are learning from them, too,” says Bilal.

Mention Mumbai and one of the first things that comes to mind is vada pav. Have these dancers dug into this humble bun bursting with flavours, yet? They look puzzled, but the minute we say ‘Indian burger’, pat comes the response: “Oh yes!” “I put a lot of extra chutney, it was so good!” gushes Bilal.

That apart, Quick Style has ticked off another quintessential Mumbai trait. “We travelled in a local train, put up a performance for people there and made videos! It was the most extreme experience. When we wanted to change seats, they were like ‘okay’! They supported us, everyone smiled. Then, we met 70 [content] creators. All of them have so much to give. We got a closer look at the people following us,” says Sirikhan.

The group is most probably going to return for a pan-India tour that would include stops at Kerala, Delhi and Chennai. Has life changed back home after the global fame they’ve got? Sirikhan says, “Not really, you can be the biggest person [in whatever field], people in Norway don’t care. But, small changes have indeed happened.”

He elaborates, “The other day, Bilal and I were in the market to buy groceries. Two Somalian ladies, who would [otherwise] walk by us without interacting, stopped and said to us, ‘Are you guys going to dance?’ We had never imagined [something like] that would happen. We always knew that our target audience is those between the ages of 15 to 35. Now, older men and women back home also know who we are!”

Turnstile Announce Biggest UK Show To Date

Turnstile have topped off their breakthrough year by announcing a short European tour for summer 2023. The dates include their biggest UK show to date – a night at London’s Brixton Academy. The trip will also take in performances at Primavera Sound 2023 in Barcelona and Madrid, which is set to be headlined by Depeche Mode, Blur, Kendrick Lamar, Rosalía and more.

Tickets for Turnstile’s 2023 UK and European shows will go on sale here from 10am local time on Friday 9 December.

The Baltimore band were recently nominated for three Grammy Awards – Best Rock Performance (Holiday), Best Rock Song (Blackout), and Best Metal Performance (Blackout). Drummer Daniel Fang spoke to Rolling Stone about being nominated in both the metal and rock categories. “I personally like that because, for a lot of us, genre feels like an antiquated term and perspective,” Fang said. “Generally speaking, trying to fit an artist or a song into a genre feels like you’re playing by arbitrary rules. So I think it’s kind of refreshing to be placed in two different genres because that just highlights that you shouldn’t be restricted.”

Frontman Brendan Yates agreed, “Growing up, where we came from and what we’re inspired by, it’s a very wide spectrum of music — including punk and metal and rock and all kinds of things,” he says. “So the fact that it somehow could fit into both feels pretty accurate to us.”

“I always feel like there’s not really any measure of greatness when it comes to music because music can reach people in so many different ways and different scales. The impact it can leave on someone is impossible to measure,” Yates says. “Once you accept that, you can look at things through a different lens. Being recognized on one scale that’s a universally accepted platform — that somehow a band like ours from Baltimore is being recognized by different people from different worlds — is super cool and exciting.

“What’s looked at as the most popular thing is always going in circles,” Yates says. “Everything is always equally existing — not dying, just taking different shapes. What’s considered mainstream is always shifting. I think it’s good for things to be constantly shifting. It’s showing signs of progression and you never want to get stagnant.”
