The Reagan Ranch Center, run by the Young America's Foundation, is a place where young and old alike can learn about President Ronald Reagan and his conservative values through historical exhibits and dynamic educational programs. The ranch itself is in a remote, hard to access area, so they are bringing the ranch to Santa Barbara and showing the history of the property and highlighting the legacy and accomplishments of Ronald Reagan.
Young America's Foundation Reagan Ranch Center is open for business, specifically, the business of reaching today's young people with conservative ideas. Young America's Foundation's Reagan Ranch team is now occupying the Reagan Ranch Center and using this tremendous 22,000 square-foot facility in downtown Santa Barbara as a vital part of the Conservative Movement. The Center includes classrooms, a theater, meeting rooms, a library of conservative resources, Young America's Foundation's Reagan Ranch offices, and more. Many events for the Center are planned over the next year as they fulfill the mission to reaching increasing numbers of young Americans with the principles and ideas President Reagan so cherished.
About The Reagan Ranch
"From the first day we saw it, Rancho del Cielo cast a spell over us. No place before or since has ever given Nancy and me the joy and serenity it does." - Ronald Reagan
There is no better place to understand Reagan's principles, and his practical, down-to-earth manner, than at Rancho del Cielo, the "Ranch in the Sky." A much needed counterpoint to the constant buzz of Washington, D.C., Rancho del Cielo conveys the true spirit of Reagan. If you want to understand Ronald Reagan, says former First Lady Nancy Reagan, then go to the Ranch.
Just as Monticello and Mount Vernon convey the distinctive personalities of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, Rancho del Cielo uniquely communicates much about Ronald Reagan that could not be readily gleaned from other sources. The very essence of his character is found here at the Ranch - his humility, his idealism, his diligence and hard work. Since Reagan built much of the Ranch himself, The Washington Post called it the "place to see the hand of the man" and "a true national treasure."
The Reagans purchased the 688-acre ranch in 1974, shortly before Reagan completed his second term as governor of California. The Ranch, overlooking the Santa Ynez Valley and the Pacific Ocean, reflects the endless vistas of freedom and possibility that Reagan considered the fundamental elements of the American experience. At the same time, the Reagans viewed the Ranch as a private retreat - a haven from the frenzy of public life. There, in a setting both rugged and pastoral, they could spend time alone or with family and friends.
Visitors to the Ranch have been deeply moved by the property. After a private tour, Pat Perrot of Northridge, California, wrote, "All five of us in our party have traveled widely throughout the world but none of us remember visiting any place that had such an enormous impact on our hearts and spirits as President Reagan's beloved ranch. From the time we spotted his home nestled in that magnificent valley, we were overwhelmed by the sense of presence of that great man."
Young America's Foundation stepped in to save President Reagan's Western White House in the spring of 1998 to preserve it as a living monument to Reagan's lasting accomplishments and to make it the centerpiece of the student programs. President Reagan committed himself to reaching young people with his ideas - a goal that is also central to the Foundation's mission. Preserving the Ranch and passing on the President's values and ideas is Young America's Foundation's way of thanking Ronald Reagan for all he did for our country and the world. Today, Rancho del Cielo is a place of learning, a place of encouragement, a place of inspiration for generations to come.

About the Business
President Reagan's home for 25 years and the Western White House during the height of the Cold War, the Reagan Ranch embodies the life and ideas of Ronald Reagan. In the spring of 1998, Young America's Foundation stepped forward to save the Reagan Ranch; eight years later, in June 2006, the Reagan Ranch Center in downtown Santa Barbara opened its doors. This Schoolhouse for Reaganism serves as an important complement to the Ranch itself. The Reagan Ranch Center in downtown Santa Barbara, California is open to the general public for tours and visitation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. These galleries feature original Reagan Ranch artifacts matched with state-of-the-art, interactive, multimedia exhibits that highlight the history of Ronald Reagan's quarter-century at Rancho del Cielo and the accomplishments of his presidency. …

This place is awesome. Last summer we stopped here on our trip in Santa Barbara. I love the history and old pictures of Ronald Reagan. I cant remember much of our history of our former President, because I was a little kid at that time. I had a pleasure of visiting one of his libraries, and it blew me away of some of the things I experienced. Nice place to take your family and children. I will be back when they come up with a library.
I didn't know what to expect, and I didn't know much about Ronald Reagan since I was living in a different country at the time of his presidency, but this little museum is an important one for his legacy, right here in Santa Barbara. No matter one's politics, there's room to respect a historical figure who served his country. It was very interesting to learn that he was a bleeding heart liberal, an actor, and suffered from abuse, before finding a formula based on interviewing the common working folk. The formula may not be something everyone agrees upon and it was surprising to see it was a conservative formula after being such a hard core liberal, but he had guts to fight some of the most dangerous regimes at the time. It was also interesting to see how a person who came from such humble beginnings worked so hard to be the best he could be. As I said, I didn't know anything about this man and I didn't think I needed to, but I left personally inspired by his journey. This museum humanizes the man behind the ire and controversy. I just wonder why it's here in a very blue city, and wonder how it will survive into the future?
A must see! Learning about how much of an impact and history of our president Reagan. I look forward to to going to the Reagan Library soon!
He is a President of the United States and the place is a non political non profit; disallowed from discussing politics. We enjoyed this non pretentious museum and the explanations of his life and his wife's including things like their basic home down dirt roads being heated by two fire places causing smoke disliked by Nancy. BTW those that claim only conservatives would like it he was Hollywood and had many friends that were disdained by society during his days.
Great play date for ahistorical vibe. Very well done interaction and on your own. Lots of history. He mentioned ourmaker many times. Kudos to Regan
Most people do not even know that this place is in Santa Barbara. Although they may be aware that Reagan's ranch is located outside of town, there is a wonderful museum and tribute to him in the city. The museum is full of wonderful and historical artifacts of our former president. Was surprised at how much information was there and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Ronald Reagan's ranch was purchased in 1998 by this Foundation and currently the only way to get onto the property is if you are a young person who is selected to attend camp or if you are a major donor to the Foundation. So for the rest of us this museum was created to show the ranch, its history and who Ronald Reagan was (with emphasis on Reagan the man and less on the politics). We had no clue this was here when visiting Santa Barbara. While walking along State Street on the way to the pier I saw this building and curiosity pulled me in. We were immediately met by a docent who provided an hour long informative tour just for us (it was a slow Monday). Then we were left to view what we wanted at our own pace and interest. As an aside, it was explained that if we start a video and decide to quit viewing, simply push the button again to stop it so that multiple videos that aren't being watched don't create a cacophony of garbled sound in the museum. We learned a lot about the ranch and its history, Reagan's love of horse riding and farm work, his faith and his reading habits. There are artifacts (his Jeep, his riding boots, his Bible, a piece of the Berlin Wall...) and a lot of interactive videos. The emphasis here is on videos and audio recordings. Some video is political but most is about the man himself (videos on the assassination attempt, a visit to the ranch by the Queen, farewell speech...) to give a better understanding of who he was and what made him tick. The technology used in presentation is extremely well done. To those with liberal world views, although conservative speakers sometimes come to the theater in this facility and their photos are plastered on the lobby wall, don't let this discourage you from checking this place out - it's FREE and you can leave at any time if you lose interest. While it doesn't replace actually seeing the ranch itself or provide comprehensive information about Reagan's political career (as does the Reagan Library), this museum is very interesting and unique in its approach. Definitely an unexpected surprise in Santa Barbara.

Incredible, lifetime memory with our curator Maddie Dermon! The Center in Santa Barbara is amazing, full of excellent books, pamphlets, information, history and incredible artifacts from President Reagan. We will remember our day touring the Center with Maddie as well as our tour to the Ranch as one of the most heartfelt, memorable days of our lives! Maddie was fantastic, and knows her history! Thank you YAF and Reagan Ranch Center!
Nice place to stop if you're in Santa Barbara. The people were very knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about sharing information about the history of President Reagan. It's also free admission.
I've always liked the Gipper. When I was at Berkeley in the 70's when there were student riots he gave the finger to a pack of long hair student rioters as his glassed in elevator was ascending. The Daily Cal had a photo of this historic event. His boyish trademark smile, hand to the waist giving the gubernatorial finger to the crowd. This photo was designed to outrage me, but my response was: "This guy is presidential material!" The Reagan Ranch Center is at the end of high valued piece of real estate on State Street near the pier. It's a free tour if you are willing to give up your name, address and phone number. I'm retired. How much time does it take to hit the "block" button when they eventually call to ask me for money? For the most, there wasn't much that was particularly interesting. A table and chair from which he signed his landmark tax legislation lowering taxes, his jeep, his English riding boot and my favorite: A Mcculloch chainsaw. The docent saw me admiring it and told me the secret service had fits watching him using it. I've never heard of Young America's Foundation. I suppose it is now another irrelevant non-profit that refuses to die because it's been so well funded in the distant past when Reagan was a part of young people's memory. Now it's Turning Point USA that holds the stage for conservative youth.
Heavy, temperamental and loud. The American chainsaw is symbolic of some of us American people.

The center features original Reagan Ranch artifacts in interactive exhibits highlighting the history of Ronald Reagan’s quarter-century at Rancho del Cielo, along with select pieces from his presidency.
Multimedia exhibits provide speeches, interviews, radio addresses, and original video presentations. The gallery’s centerpiece is a 28-foot-long timeline that allows visitors to explore the Western White House, Ronald Reagan’s Ranch.
The Reagan Ranch Center also features several unique collections, including the Lorraine Wagner Letter Collection, a nearly 300-piece collection of letters written by Ronald Reagan over 50 years, and the Russell D. Sibert Collection, featuring rare Reagan-related memorabilia such as campaign buttons, posters, and commemorative items.
Also on display is a 5,000-pound section of the Berlin Wall reminding visitors of the center of Ronald Reagan’s role in German reunification, which was formally completed in 1990.
President Reagan’s famous blue Jeep Scrambler, complete with a “Gipper” license plate, sits in the Center of the gallery, flanked by a selection of his favorite books, an original saddle, and a chainsaw owned and used by President Reagan.
The Reagan Ranch Center is designed to engage visitors of all ages; younger children can earn their “Junior Secret Service Clearance” by completing a scavenger hunt.

Reagan Ranch Center - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go - Visiting Tips (2024)
Rancho del Cielo
RANCHO DEL CIELO
Rancho del Cielo was the Reagan’s small (688 acres) ranch near Santa Barbara. It was used frequently during the Reagan administration as a vacation home. The ranch is very informal and has no central heating. The ranch was run by a very small staff keeping it in working order for President Reagan and his visits.
The President enjoyed working outdoors at the ranch whenever he visited. A few cows, some dogs and horses roamed freely there. The property also has a small lake where President and Mrs. Reagan canoed.
There were seven horses at the ranch during the Reagan presidency:
Quarter Horses: NO STRINGS and DORMITA
Arabains: GWALIANKO, CATALINA, EL SARAFF ( ALFIE ), AND ALAMEIN
Peruvian Pasos: EL PRIMERO TENIENTE (FIRST LIEUTENANT)
EL ALAMEIN was given to President Reagan prior to his inauguration by former Mexican President Lopez Portillo. Alamein was trained for dressage, a style of riding in which the rider signals the horse into complex maneuvers while barely moving his legs, hands and weight.
The Reagans also had four dogs at the ranch –
VICTORY Golden Retriever
MILLIE Irish Setter/Labrador mix
TACA Husky
LUCKY Bouvier des Flandres (Originally kept at the White House until 1985)
The President’s daughter, Patti Davis, also kept her dog, FREE BO, at Rancho del Cielo.
The animals from the ranch and most of the Reagan family pets are buried at Rancho del Cielo.
The ranch was sold in 1998 to the organization Young America’s Foundation. In 2002, it was dedicated as a California State Landmark by the Native Sons of the Golden West.

This short Moscow tour will give you a true taste of the history, culture and incomparable urban vibe that define one of the world’s largest metropolises. In just three days, this Moscow itinerary takes in all the most iconic sights of this attraction-packed destination. After two and half days getting acquainted with the city, we’ve set time aside for you to explore Moscow your way and discover your own favourite hang-outs in a city overflowing with hidden treasures
3-Day Moscow Tour Highlights:
- Panoramic Tour of Moscow: See Moscow beyond the postcard images on a private excursion by car through the city streets including a drive along the banks of the Moskva River. Visit the famous Bolshoi Theatre, pass by Gorky Park and the Novodevichy Convent, and admire the city from on high at the Sparrow Hill observation platform.
- Moscow Historical City Centre Guided Walking Tour : Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of one of the world’s biggest metropolises and discover local haunts on foot, including the Red Square, the Kremlin and the multi-coloured domes of St Basil’s Cathedral.
- Armory Chamber tour: Explore the endless treasures of this unique museum, displaying the wealth accumulated by Russian rulers from the 12th century until the October Revolution of 1917. Walking through the exhibition halls is a journey through the centuries.
- Moscow Metro Tour : Go deep underground on a subway tour of the famous Moscow metro. The world’s deepest metro system is renowned for its palatial, art-adorned stations, complete with marble columns and chandeliers.
On your first day, you’ll be treated to a panoramic, drive-by tour of Moscow to get a feel for the immense scale of one of the world’s most rapidly developing urban centres. The city’s history unfolds in real-time as you pass lavish imperial mansions, solemn Soviet structures and luxurious modern shopping centres.
Day two kicks off exploring Moscow’s historic centre on foot, followed by a tour of the Kremlin, the seat of Russian power and political intrigue for centuries. Stand in the Red Square, surrounded by the stunning architecture as you hear stories of the people and events behind many of Moscow’s most iconic landmarks.
On your final day, we’ll head beneath the city for a tour of the Moscow Metro and its famously ornate underground stations. Art lovers should hit up one of Moscow’s many world-class galleries such as the Tretyakov State Gallery, the Pushkin Museum or Garage, Moscow’s cutting-edge contemporary art museum. History fans can follow a Soviet trail through the city including Stalin’s Bunker, while those seeking a more indulgent experience can browse trendy neighbourhoods like Kitay Gorod or shop for everything from fashion to kitsch souvenirs at the enchanting Izmaylovo Flea Market. Foodies can head to one of the countless speciality stores sampling vodka, caviar and chocolate.
If you only have a few days to spend in Moscow, this tour will ensure you make the most of your time in the city. Let the experts navigate you through this complex and occasionally overwhelming capital, giving you plenty of time to soak up the city’s most unmissable attractions.

Day 1 Panoramic city tour
Welcome to the glorious capital of Russia, Moscow! You’ll be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your centrally located hotel.
After check-in and rest, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby for a comprehensive tour of Moscow by car. Visit the starkly contrasting Theatre Square to see the stunning Bolshoi Theatre, pass Tverskaya Street, the city’s main boulevard and home to the landmark Yeleseyevskiy Grocery Store.
You’ll enjoy a panoramic drive along the Moskva River, where a huge, controversial state of Peter the Great was erected. Pass by the legendary Gorky Park and the White House before a stop at the architecturally stunning Novodevichy Convent, and the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, for a bird’s eye view over this staggering megalopolis.
Day 2 Red Square and Kremlin
After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical city centre. Stroll through the Red Square, the hub of cultural life in Moscow, with its elaborate ‘stone flower’ fountain and fantasy-like St Basil’s Cathedral – a postcard-perfect symbol of the nation. Admire the grandiose façade of GUM, the city’s most luxurious shopping centre, and visit Alexander’s Garden, with its eternal flame and the chance to watch a changing of the guards.
Break for lunch before continuing on a tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Chamber, famous of its collection of tsarist fashion, with regalia such as jewel-encrusted crowns, orbs and sceptres as well as arms and armour, exotic gifts from the leaders of faraway lands, and an illustrious case of Imperial Faberge eggs.
As an option* spend an evening on a sumptuous dinner cruise, taking in the stunning sights and city lights of this mesmerising metropolis by night.
Day 3 Metro and Arbat Street
Start a day with a tour of Metro, stopping on the way to marvel at some of the most elaborately decorated stations of the world-famous Moscow subway system. Take a stroll along Old Arbat street - the most famous street in Moscow. Through the centuries Arbat used to be one of the most bohemian places in Moscow. Today Arbat is a promenade full of small cozy cafes and street life.
The afternoon is free for you to either enjoy the rest of the day on your own or choose among optional excursions to explore more of Moscow. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery or Pushkin State Museum to admire Russian art. Join locals for a stroll at the Gorky or VDNH park.
Visit beautiful Kolomeskoye Estate or Izmailovo Kremlin, or spend a day exploring the beautiful city of the Golden Ring (Russian province) - Sergiev Posad. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure to your next destination.

Metro tour – daily
Palaces for ordinary people – that was what Stalin promised to the people when the construction of the Moscow Metro began between the World Wars. The communist dictator hadn’t promised too much. No other underground system in the world can boast such spectacular architecture – chandeliers, decorations, stucco, paintings on the walls – each station is individually designed. No wonder that Moscow residents love their metro. I will guide you through the bustle of one of the busiest subways in the world and show you the most beautiful stations Moscow city has.

Tour of Communist Moscow – every day
After the Communist October Revolution in 1918, Moscow became the capital of the Soviet Empire and was the center of socialist orbit for more than 70 years. This left its mark on Moscow, even if the USSR disintegrated more than a quarter of a century ago. The city streets are full of remnants of the communist regime and the Cold War. This is a walking tour where I will show you the most exciting places in Soviet Moscow: from the notorious KGB headquarters, also known as Lubyanka to the Karl Marx Monument to small hidden remains from the time of hammer and sickle. You will also learn about Stalin’s Great Terror political campaign and the system of the GULAG and how the USSR, the communist Russian republic, became modern Russia.
Time: by arrangement, daily Duration: 2 hours Price: 21 $ Students and children: 17 $ Language: English Included in the price: the guided tour
Alternative Moscow Tour – daily
Explore the unseen Moscow with your Moscow private guide and discover a range of sights during this alternative walking tour. Away from the main tourist spots (in the central district of Kitay-Gorod), just a short walk from Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral, you suddenly find yourself in one of the trendiest districts of Moscow. This place not only has trendy cafes and green squares, but here you can see the most beautiful spray works (according to Albrecht Dürer), hangout-places of the youth and hipsters, as well as learn what Moscow looked like in the 19th century. Here you will also learn exciting and even bloody stories about famous gangsters, eccentric business people and legends like the wandering preacher Rasputin, who is known in Russia either as the “holy devil” or the mad monk. To learn a little more about Moscow’s culture, this is the tour for you. On my alternative tour, you will get to know Moscow away from the tourist hotspots. This tour is of 2 hours duration and you will experience the following on the tour:
- St. John’s Hill, a quiet oasis right in the center, where time has stopped as it did in pre-Communist times
- Khokhlovka Art Center, where Russian hipsters and street artists hang out
- Samoskvorechye District where you can see beautiful streets and hear stories from old Moscow
