Sentosa 1 Day Itinerary: What To Do On Singapore’s Island Of Fun

Singapore is pretty clever.

It never had a lot of space to build giant theme parks and uber-luxurious resorts, nor did it have the pristine beaches of neighbouring countries Malaysia and Indonesia. So, it built an island that became the tourism capital of Singapore.

That island, Sentosa , is now home to some of the world’s most prestigious resorts, action-packed theme parks, fast food and fine dining restaurants, and the best beaches in Singapore.

Some tourists spend their entire vacation on Sentosa while others just visit for a day.

A day trip to Sentosa presents endless options for attractions, food, and fun. Here’s how I suggest spending a day on Sentosa.

Money Tip: Get the cheapest attraction tickets on Sentosa from GetYourGuide . I use them for every vacation - fast, easy, safe and cheap.

Singapore Tip: Get fast mobile Internet everywhere in Singapore with an eSIM from aloSIM  (only $6.50).

Singapore Tip: If you love Singapore so much you want to start a business here , check out this Singapore company formation guide.

9:45am – Grab a Ride to Sentosa

Sentosa is connected to mainland Singapore by road, sky-train, cable car, and pedestrian bridge. If, like me, you have a lot to squeeze into your day, the quickest way to get there is via taxi or rideshare app Grab .

Tip: Vehicles are charged a fee of S$2-$6 to enter Sentosa unless visiting a resort, theme park or attraction. Buy tickets online in advance and flash the confirmation ticket or receipt at the guardhouse to gain free entry.

10am – Pose with Celebrities at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

Madame Tussauds offers encounters with life-like wax sculptures of your favourite celebrities.

sentosa island tour itinerary

The first exhibit, World Leaders, displays past political figures from Singapore, Malaysia, China and India as well as easily recognised world leaders like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi, Barak Obama and Queen Elizabeth II.

Another exhibit is dedicated to Film and TV with scenes from blockbuster movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Terminator, and ET. Most scenes have a spot free for you to re-enact your favourite scene beside the iconic characters.

My favourite exhibit was sports , where I got to “play” basketball with a waxy Yao Ming, currently the tallest NBA player. The sports exhibit is relatively interactive with golf putting against Tiger Woods, 1-on-1 basketball with Yao Ming, and a sit-up workout with David Beckham.

The featured attraction was a Marvel 4D experience. We got to dress up like Ironman, be rescued by Spiderman, and watch a 15-minute 4D movie based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (requires additional ticket). With 3D glasses in place, you can’t help but duck from Thor’s hammer or Spiderman’s webs thrown in your direction, especially when you feel a sudden puff of air down the back of your neck at the same time!

We arrived at the museum just after 10am before the crowds descended. We could wander around at leisure and take photos without having to wait too long or get in anyone’s way.

Two other attractions are included in the main ticket price, a 5-minute indoor boat ride targeted at young children and Images of Singapore , an interactive educational exhibit that takes visitors on a walk through Singaporean history with real-life actors, sound effects and props (no photos allowed here).

Madame Tussauds is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 7:30pm Saturday and Sunday. Discount tickets can be purchased online at Voyagin .

12pm – Walk to Silosa Beach for Lunch

We took a stroll down Merlion Walk for lunch on the familiar white beach sands imported from my home state, Western Australia.

sentosa island tour itinerary

There are a few restaurants to choose from on Silosa Beach . We ate at Flame , a small, casual eatery with seating on the beach sand under the shade of coconut trees. Flame serves typical western bistro food, like beef sliders, pizza, and roast chicken.

1pm – Catch the Sky Train to Resorts World Sentosa

Not prepared to walk back in Singapore’s heat and humidity, we caught the free sky train from Beach Station to Waterfront Station to continue our fun-filled day.

1.15pm – Visit S.E.A. Aquarium

It’s pretty impossible to fit more than two theme parks into one afternoon. Universal Studios is a must for the late afternoon/evening, leaving the early afternoon S.E.A. Aquarium.

S.E.A Aquarium is one of the largest and best laid out aquariums I’ve ever visited. The aquarium’s many tanks house over 100,000 underwater animals of all sizes and colours from oceans all around the world. There’s vibrant hues of orange, pink, yellow, purple, and even rainbow fish.

Main attractions include an overhead shark tank, dolphins, and a viewing gallery that’s like a giant fish tank crossed with a movie cinema. Spanning 36 meters, the tank glass is 700mm thick and weighs a whopping 250,000kgs! I could have sat at the gallery and watched the graceful sting rays, manta rays, fish, and sharks all day, but Universal Studios was calling.

The aquarium’s other attractions include creepy moray eels, jellyfish, starfish, and sea dragons.

S.E.A. Aquarium is open 10am to 7pm Friday to Tuesday and 10am to 6pm Wednesday and Thursday. Discount tickets can be purchased online at Voyagin .

3pm: Visit Universal Studios

Universal Studios can take a whole day to experience fully, but it’s possible to visit in 2-4 hours if you don’t mind skipping a few rides.

From the moment you enter Universal Studios ’ gates, it feels like stepping inside a movie. The main street is lined with themed souvenir stores and cafes, like Minon Mart, which sells Minion branded clothing, toys, accessories, homewares, and souvenirs.

sentosa island tour itinerary

The complex is structured into 7 themed zones. The craziest rides are without a doubt in the Sci Fi zone with giant rollercoasters inspired by Battlestar Galactica or Transformers that twist, tilt, and soar at extremely fast speeds. Not far behind on the crazy-scary-scale is the Ancient Egypt zone, with a jaw dropping indoor rollercoaster inspired by The Mummy .

The Lost World zone, based on the Jurassic Park movie franchise has a few hairy rides too. We tried one of the least adrenaline pumping rides, the Sky Flyer , which twisted and turned high above the dinosaur-themed jungle below for about 45 seconds before returning safely to solid ground.

My favourite zone was Happily Ever After, inspired by Shrek. After a short 5-minute wait to meet Shrek and Fiona, Fiona tried to run off with me, leaving poor Shrek heartbroken! After continuing the charade for a few moments, we smiled for our photo and went on our merry way.

sentosa island tour itinerary

The fun continued with a 4D movie featuring the ghost of Lord Farquaad and then my favourite show, Donkey Live , a stand-up comedy act performed by the notoriously inappropriate Donkey. Since the main act was on a giant LCD screen, I was quite impressed by level of audience interaction. A charismatic host had members of the audience answer questions which the voice and animation of Donkey immediately and flawlessly responded to.

I got to see a special, Sesame Street 50 th anniversary exhibit as part of the regular New York zone. Most Sesame Street shows and meet and greets are only on in the morning, but we enjoyed walking around a recreated Sesame Street and stopping for a photo in Big Bird’s nest.

sentosa island tour itinerary

Universal Studios is now open late on Fridays and Saturdays with pop up food stalls and live bands starting at 8pm and a firework display at 10pm.

I visited on a Saturday but surprisingly didn’t come across too many crowds. The longest we had to wait for a ride was 10 minutes, although I noticed some rides had longer lines with wait times up to 35 minutes.

sentosa island tour itinerary

Universal Studios is open 10am to 7pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 10pm Friday and Saturday. Discount tickets can be purchased online at Voyagin .

7.30pm: Diner at Isle Quay

After all of the excitement at Universal Studios, we needed a little peace and quiet and Sentosa Cove was the perfect place to find it. The upmarket residential area has gated luxury condominiums, a marina full of luxury yachts, and Quayside Isle , a waterfront café strip lined with international restaurants and bars.

After a relaxing stroll along the harbour, we felt like Greek so enjoyed tasty moussaka and spanakopita at Mykonos on the Bay .

sentosa island tour itinerary

Explore beyond Singapore: find the cheapest ferry prices to Batam , Indonesia or catch a bus to Kuala Lumpur .

Where to Stay near Sentosa

We stayed at  The Westin Singapore , a 10-minute drive from Resorts World Sentosa . The Westin is an ideal base to explore the whole of Singapore, being located in the centre of the city and walking distance to Marina Bay Sands .

My favourite aspect of this hotel was the amazing views of Singapore’s marina and iconic ArtScience Museum and Singapore Flyer , which are best enjoyed from the level 35 rooftop pool, Cook & Brew restaurant on level 33, or while enjoying the to-die-for buffet breakfast at Seasonal Tastes on level 32.

sentosa island tour itinerary

The Westin’s Lobby Lounge was the consummate place to unwind with a cocktail after a long day out.

sentosa island tour itinerary

And to finish it off, a soak in the bathtub (with amazing views too), and a super soft heavenly bed provided a restful night’s sleep.

sentosa island tour itinerary

The following day called for a little recovery time, so we booked an appointment at the award-winning Heavenly Spa .

We felt rejuvenated after a 90-minute Lavender Spa Journey , which included a body scrub, massage and access to a steam room and jacuzzi (separate facilities for men and women). Just what was needed after a full day at Sentosa.

sentosa island tour itinerary

The Bottom Line

It would be easy to spend a few days or even a whole week enjoying the beaches, theme parks, and adventure activities on Singapore’s Sentosa Island.

For the ultra-disciplined time management ninjas or simply short-of-time holidaymakers, it is possible to do Sentosa justice in as little as 1 day with this itinerary.

No matter how long you decide to spend on Sentosa, it promises to be an experience you’ll never forget.

The island sees more rainfall between November and January, while the driest months are usually from February to April.

To avoid large crowds, try to plan your visit on weekdays or during the shoulder season, between May and July or September and October.

To make the most of your visit and save money on admission fees, consider purchasing attraction passes, such as the Sentosa Fun Pass or the Singapore City Pass.

Staying Safe and Comfortable

While visiting Sentosa Island, keep the following tips in mind to ensure a safe and comfortable experience:

A travel & lifestyle blog, 1 day itinerary for a perfect family trip to sentosa island, singapore.

True to its name, “State of Fun”. Sentosa is a perfect destination for fun and adventure seekers. A leisure and recreation Island packed with unmatched attractions and activities that cater to all age groups.

Visit to Sentosa Island was one of the most interesting and exciting parts of our trip to Singapore.

While planning the trip, my friends suggested keeping a day aside for Sentosa Island. To be honest I never imagined Sentosa would be so much fun. But when we visited this Island, I actually realized, the place was buzzing with action, excitement, and happy vibes. When we traveled to Sentosa, our son was 2.5 years old. So we decided to take it easy, making a point to enjoy every bit rather than focusing only on a checklist. In this post, I am sharing a day’s itinerary for families with young kids seeking to enjoy quality time in Sentosa Island.

Having said that, this itinerary does not cover all the major attractions but only those, which are feasible to cover in a day, considering all the walking around, humidity, and the fact that kids often get cranky. 1 day itinerary to Sentosa Island for perfect family trip

Is one day enough to visit Sentosa?

Probably yes, if you start your day early and know which activities to take. (They have so much to offer, it’s very confusing to choose which one to take and which to leave, considering each activity has its own cost.) We wasted a lot of our time trying to understand the options.

In case you want to visit Universal studio also (which you should!) then surely you need 2 days, as Universal studio is a different world in itself.

This is how we spent a day in Sentosa Island.

Since it was our first day in Singapore, we were not sure about our itinerary, considering the variety of options available.

Keeping visit to Sentosa in mind (although still not sure), we reached Vivo mall. At Vivo mall, we enquired from a travel desk, which offered an overwhelming choice of exciting activities. It was really hard to choose, as everything was unique and exciting.

Finally, we zeroed down Sentosa Island along with cable car ride, SEA Aquarium, and wings of time (& other attractions including Universal studio, gardens by the bay, Singapore Zoo, and Duck tour for other days). It was already 11.30 a.m by the time ticketing was completed. So without wasting further time, we headed towards the cable car. Sharing the itinerary and experience here.

1) Cable car – Initially, it was difficult to find a way to cable car station. We were not sure if we are heading in the right direction. After walking across the mall and ferry terminal, finally we reached the boarding location. Since it was a weekday, the queue was not too long and we immediately got our turn. At first, it was a little scary to be hanging in the air with water below but the splendid view was worth every effort.

Although you can reach Sentosa through various modes, but the Cable car is the best option if you really want to make your trip memorable. Here you can enjoy the best panoramic view of the harbor and island. It’s surreal but slightly scary too. The cable car is available from the harbor front station. (also from Faber Peak). Cable car covers 2 lines.

Mount Faber Line

It starts from Singapore’s only hilltop destination, Faber Peak, cross the harbor, and then lands in Sentosa. It offers the most priceless view.

Sentosa Line

This line takes you through many attractions in Sentosa. You can choose to stop either at Merlion station, Imbiah Lookout station or Siloso Point station

Timing: Open daily: 8:45am to 10:00pm

Charges: Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass Round Trip Adult (including both the lines) – S$35.00, Child – S$25.00 (above 4 years of Age)

2) S.E.A Aquarium – The moment we landed at Sentosa, we were tempted to move around and explore the place. But we had to visit the S.E.A aquarium without wasting much time, as it was noon and the little one was sleepy already. We dint wanted him to miss the S.E.A aquarium. After a lot of walking, we arrived at the S.E.A Aquarium. The moment we crossed the first tunnel; a huge glass wall with many marine creatures moving in a rhythm greeted us. It was an amazing moment for us, especially this being our first visit to a large Aquarium. All of us were really excited to witness marine life so closely, especially big sharks and stingrays swimming freely in the blue water. It felt like we are walking inside the sea. SEA aquarium is one of the largest in Asia showcasing diverse marine species. It was not only exciting but also very relaxing. Just sitting and watching these creatures moving was a therapeutic and peaceful experience.

Check out the complete guide to S.EA Aquarium.

Time required: It takes almost 1-2 hours to explore SEA Aquarium. Refreshment (food and beverages) is available inside the Aquarium.

Timings: 10 am to 7 p.m

Tickets: Adult (Age 13 – 59) – SGD39 | Child (Age 4 – 12) – SGD29 | Senior (Age 60 and above) – SGD29

3) Enjoy a variety of Food – Sentosa has many restaurants to offer a variety of delectable cuisine. Right from fast food joints to upmarket Michelin star restaurants. Once we came out of the SEA Aquarium, it was time for lunch and we were really hungry. We stopped by an Italian restaurant and enjoyed Pizza, garlic bread, and pasta. Post lunch it was time for desserts and what better for hot & humid weather then a chilled ice cream. We visited this really nice ice-cream joint called stick house, which had a really good selection of delicious ice creams.

4) Photo opportunities – Once we loaded ourselves with calories, it was time to explore the area and click some pictures for keepsake. Sentosa has many places where you can click that perfect instagramable picture. (Read about it in my next blog) or just some cool pics with family to capture the beautiful memories. Some places where we enjoyed clicking pictures.

  • Lake of Dreams Square especially looks beautiful during the evenings. There are many other interesting set-ups in and around the square where you can capture that perfect picture.
  • Candylicious store – This was our favorite! Fairy tale-like set us including live size and colorful candies and wish tree made of candies …it was quite a tempting place. I m sure one can’t stop just outside and it’s a must to visit the store and grab some delicious candies.
  • Merlion statue and the Park – The gigantic Merlion statue and fountain at Santosa is not something you will miss! In fact, it’s visible from the cable car itself. Enjoy some cool and misty moments near the fountain. Just behind the statue is a colorful Merlion park, yet another interesting place to capture.
  • Universal Studio – If you are planning to visit Universal studio then you will surely have unlimited opportunities and backdrops to click pictures. But if you are running out of time, then at least you can click a picture of Famous Universal studio globe. Click here to get a complete guide on Universal Studio

It features a suspension bridge that allows visitors to cross over to a spot, claimed as the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia (the closest point to the Equator in Asia).
  • Tanjong Beach – This is the quietest beach on Sentosa probably because it’s farthest from the ‘Beach Station’. This beach is serene and has cool vibes.

But if you are not ready for the real deal, hop onto the Giant Swing, which propels you towards Siloso beach at 120km/h with up to three passengers at once.

Lunch at Tanjong Beach Club

Tanjong Burger - Wagyu Beef Burger at Tanjong Beach Club

Stroll along the sandy beaches and refuel with a hearty meal at the Tanjong Beach Club.

Good riddance to the dark era when beach food meant overpriced dried sandwiches and diluted coffee. At Tanjong Beach Club, you get succulent burgers, elegant avocado toasts and addictive finger foods.

We highly recommend the Tanjong Burger ($30) for the perfect wagyu patty that is blessed with a smoky, charred crust and a juicy, meaty interior.

SkyHelix, panoramic gondola ride. Source: Mount Faber Leisure Group

Opened in December 2021, this open-air panoramic gondola ride gives you a 360-degrees bird’s eye view of Sentosa and Keppel Bay.

The platform rotates gently and rises to a height of 35 metres above ground. Each ride lasts for 12 minutes and includes a cool drink that you can enjoy during the ‘flight to the skies’.

For a more memorable ride, visit the attraction near sunset, when the streaks of gold and orange illuminates the ride with dazzling lights.

Fort Siloso Skywalk (Free admission)

This 11-storey high and 181 meters long scenic trek is a hidden gem that connects Siloso Point to Fort Siloso, a preserved coastal fort in Singapore.

Not your typical museum, this attraction features large cannons, military equipment and large coastal guns together with other war memorabilia.

After a hearty breakfast in the hotel, rent a bicycle at Segway Tours Singapore and embark on your island tour.

Choose from three different routes: a basic route suitable for family bonding along Siloso and Palawan Beaches, a slightly adventurous Sentosa Imbiah Nature Trail and a challenging path with steeper slopes that lead to Sentosa Cove Village and Tanjong Beach.

From bustling activities to tranquil stretches of sand, each of Sentosa’s three beaches—named Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong—hold their own unique charms. Palawan beach’s islets and playgrounds are great spaces for families to unwind.

With its pristine beaches, exciting attractions and tropical landscapes, Sentosa is sure to leave you spellbound.

Before it was known as Sentosa, this island just off Singapore’s southern coast was a British military fortress. After the Japanese Occupation in World War II, Singapore returned to British rule, and the island was renamed “Sentosa” which means “peace and tranquillity” in Malay.

Over the course of its remarkable history, Sentosa has transformed into a beloved island resort, best known for its tropical beaches, luxurious hotels and thrilling attractions.

Whether you’re looking for an adrenaline rush or a day of relaxing in the sun, Sentosa is bound to enchant and delight.

Sentosa Travel Guide – 2 Days Itinerary + Expense

sentosa-island

On the southern coast of Singapore resides a hub of entertainment. The island is a perfect blend of joy and adventure, making it the ideal weekend destination. Sentosa is a complete package for all types of audiences, from kids to elderly folks. A day trip won’t do justice. Therefore, I highly recommend spending a night at one of the resorts.

I was in Sentosa for two days with my mom, doing all the touristy stuff this island offers. Staying at Sentosa can be an expensive affair. Lookout for deals on Kayak before booking your hotel. I managed to grab a steal deal at one of the resorts in Siloso beach. The resort was getting shut down. Therefore, they were running an offer that gave us a nice beach view room at just  50 SGD .

Table of Contents

How to reach Sentosa?

Reaching Sentosa is a peace of cake thanks to its connectivity with the mainland. You can take a bus or rapid transit. You can ride a gondola or even walk. Yep! a fascinating walking route as well. Traveling within the island is also simple, thanks to the free shuttle service and the monorail.

  • Bus: route 123 – 1 SGD to 3 SGD
  • MRT: Sentosa Vivo City –> Monotrail – 4 SGD to 5 SGD
  • Taxi: 7 SGD to 9 SGD
  • Walk: Sentosa island Boardwalk from   Vivo City Mall to Sentosa Island waterfront – Free

Reaching Sentosa

Mom and I took an early morning bus (route 123) from the Orchard Road bus stop, the closest stop to our hotel. It was a 50-minute ride from Orchard Road to Resort World Sentosa transit center. On arriving, we boarded the Free Sentosa Shuttle to reach our resort at Siloso beach.

Checkin at Costa Sands Resort (Sentosa)

The  resort  was on a hill opposite Siloso beach, hidden amidst the wild forest. We struggled a bit while locating the resort. After 20 minutes of randomly walking here and there, we finally spotted the stairway. Post the check-in formality, we headed to our room and rested for a while because rest is essential when traveling with parents.

Madame Tussauds

My mom loves Madame Tussauds so much that she never misses a chance to praise the craft. Therefore, we decided to make this our first destination of the day. The lifesize wax statues of various celebrated people around the globe never fail to charm us. The museum is gigantic, with over 50 wax statues, from Audrey Hepburn to our desi girl Priyanka Chopra, from the kung fu master Jackie Chan to football heartthrob Ronaldo. It was fun getting photographed with the people we admire the most, posing with them, and reading about their journey. However, my favorite section was Behind-the-scenes, where I learned about the creative process and the hard work behind making these statues.

Timing: 10 am to 6 pm Ticket:  $26.64 (Adult)

Sentosa Merlion

Sentora Merlion was the tallest merlion statue in Singapore. But in October 2019, the city bid goodbye to merlion to build a themed linkway that allows you to walk along the shoreline from the north and south of Sentosa. This 37m-tall statue was right next to the Merlion monorail station and had an observation deck in its mouth. I’ll definitely miss this picturesque statue on my next visit. However, I’m also excited to walk the linkway. Let’s talk about our time at the Merlion Statue. It was a stop-and-go destination for us. We decided to skip the observatory part as the view was similar to that of Fort Siloso. But we sure got some amazing photos with the merlion in the backdrop.

Lunch at Good Old Days

By now, we were hungry af! So we decided to have lunch at a food court named Good Old Days. It was beautiful and affordable. Good Old Days has two separate food courts, one serving Asian delicacies and the other serving Western grilled delights. I wanted to try Laksa, so we headed to the Asian Food court. I ordered Nonya Laksa, a Malay delicacy made of spicy coconut gravy and loaded with seafood. Mom went with Gong Bao Chicken and rice. The dish was spicy, nutty, and delicious. Overall we loved our food and left the place with a happy heart and a satisfied belly.

Food for two: 16 SGD

Palawan Beach to the southernmost point of Asia

We took a shuttle to Palawan Beach, the southernmost point of Asia. We reached the beach during sunset. The view was more scenic than ever, with the sky painted in hues of pink and purple. We walked through the rope bridge to reach the southernmost point of Asia, and the view turned even better. We had some time to kill before our next activity. Therefore, we decided to stay back on the beach. We rested on a hammock chair, gazing at the clear sky and gossiping about anything under the stars.

Timing: The bridge closes post 6 pm Ticket: Free

Wings of Time Show

Wings of Time is a breathtaking show and a must-watch in Sentosa. It was just the perfect way to end our day. Wings of Time is a show about friendship and courage depicted through water, laser, and fire to create amazing visuals. It’s nothing but a brilliant display of art and technology. Plus, the captivating narration leaves the audience in awe. It was a thrilling 1-hour long show that ended with fireworks. After the show, we went to McDonald’s (the only running outlet because it was almost midnight) to grab a quick bite before heading back to the resort.

Timing: Shows at 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm Ticket: $11.94 (Adult)

Siloso Beach

Mom and I are morning persons, so we woke up early and headed straight to the beach. Siloso beach is a tranquil place with an excellent view. This place is also home to the award-winning Eco-resort, the Siloso Beach Resort. It is one of the best beaches in Sentosa that offer plenty of activities, from bungee jumping to surfing. We strolled around the beach for a while, dipped our feet in the water, and spotted many beautiful birds. There isn’t any restaurant near Siloso beach. Therefore, we decided to do a brunch instead at the Resort World Sentosa.

Timing: Open 24×7 Ticket: Free

siloso-beach-singapore

Fort Siloso

After completing our checkout formalities, we headed to Fort Siloso. It was just a stone’s throw away from our resort. Fort Siloso is the only well-preserved coastal fort in Singapore that served as part of the defense. We walked the skyway trail that led to a military museum with exhibits from WWII, including coastal guns, tunnels, etc. We saw a few bunkers created by the Japanese army during their invasion in 1942.

Timing: Open daily, 10 am to 6 pm Ticket: Free

Brunch at Streats, Resort World Sentosa

Resort World Sentosa is the prime entertainment hub of Sentosa, with world-class attractions like Universal Studios, Dolphin Island, Adventure Cove Water park, and S.E.A Aquarium. We took a shuttle from Siloso to Resort World Sentosa. On reaching the Resort World, we headed straight to Streats, an Asian street food restaurant. We had Salted Egg Yolk Pumpkin Fritters, Beijing Dumplings, and a delicious sandwich. We loved the taste of everything, especially the Egg Yolk Pumpkin Fritters. Therefore, we highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Food for two: 25 SGD

Universal Studios

And finally, we entered the most awaited attraction, the Universal Studios. It is Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park that features many blockbuster movies and tv series. It was raining cats and dogs that day, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. We bought a raincoat from the main gate and headed straight to our adventure.

universal-studios-singapore

Universal Studios has six theme-based zones. We began our journey in Hollywood. We met the minions and watched a delightful performance at Mel’s. Next, we headed to New York. We explored Sesame Streets and watched a mind blowing show by the famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg at Lights, Camera, Action! Next, we headed to the Sci-Fi City to experience the thrilling TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle. Battlestar Galactica wasn’t running due to the rain, but I’ll surely come back for this. From here, we headed to Ancient Egypt to ride the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster. It was my favorite of all rides. Trust me when I say this ride will surprise you with every twist and turn. Next, we explored the Lost World, a Jurassic Park-themed area. We watched a spectacular show called the Water World that displayed death-defying stunts. From here, we headed to a thrilling ride at Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and got a birds-eye view of the place on the Canopy Flyer. Our last stop was at Far Far Away, where we watched a fun show named Donkey Live. But before stepping out, we strolled the streets of Hollywood one last time and explored the enchanting forests of Madagascar.

Timing: Wed to Sat & Public holidays – 12 pm to 7 pm | Sunday – 10 am to 6 pm | Closed on Mon and Tue Ticket: $67.48 (Adult)

We headed back to Singapore after spending almost an entire day running around exploring every nook and corner. Mom and I had an excellent time exploring Sentosa island and would love to come back someday for more adventures.

1 – Fly high on the Sentosa Cable Car

Sentosa Cable Car

There’s no more picturesque way to get from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island than to take the gondola cable car line. The Sentosa Cable Car departs from the main island and crosses over the harbor (one of the very few cable lines in the world to do this), with six station stops along the way. A second line runs from Merlion Station to the Siloso Point Station.

With 67 comfortable glass cabins that can carry eight passengers each, the cable car is not only an excellent way to travel but also one of the best ways to catch the skyline views, especially at sunset.

For the ultimate experience, try cable car dining under the stars. Choose between a four-course dinner, a bento meal, a four-course Japanese spread or a champagne and platter meal in your own private gondola as you watch the sunset from 100 meters up in the air.

2 – Enjoy some movie magic at Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore

Looking for fun things to do in Sentosa with kids?

Considered as one of the best theme parks in Singapore , the 62-acres Universal Studios Singapore offers 24 movie-themed rides and shows divided into six zones: Hollywood, New York City, Ancient Egypt, Sci-Fi City, The Lost World, and Far Far Away.

You’ll also find restaurants, food carts, and retail stores matching the area’s theme in each of them. The center of the park is a massive lagoon, with themed zones organized all around it.

The park’s entrance is through Hollywood, which mostly features movie-inspired backgrounds, a few restaurants, and a replica of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to a theater presenting live musicals, there’s also the Hollywood Dreams Light-Up Parade here plus Meet & Greets with many famous characters — including the Minions from Despicable Me, Bugs Bunny, the Road Runner, and many more.

Sci-Fi City is home to the park’s two biggest roller coasters: a sit-down coaster and a more extreme coaster with big inversions. There’s also a 4-D dark motion simulator ride in this zone.

The Ancient Egypt zone’s most popular attraction is its enclosed steel roller coaster and dark ride, while The Lost World offers exciting rapids water ride and live show performances. Far Far Away is unique to Universal Studios Singapore and is modeled after Shrek’s kingdom.

Meet world-famous names like Queen Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela and David Beckham. Pose for selfies with Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee or E.T. A-listers like Nicole Kidman, Leonardi DiCaprio and Singaporean actress Zoe Tay also have a spot here.

5 – Stroll along the Fort Siloso Skywalk

Fort Siloso Skywalk, Sentosa

If you’re visiting Fort Siloso, you’ll notice an elevated bridge-like structure. This scenic treetop trail is located 11 floors up in the air and is 181 meters long and is a great way to reach Fort Siloso.

In fact, when you arrive at the Siloso Point Station via the Sentosa Express or cable car, you can simply walk to the Skywalk and use it to reach the fort. The skywalk is wheelchair-accessible (via an elevator) or you can brave the stairs to get you up high.

The Skywalk trail takes you over the tree canopies, offering stunning views of Singapore’s Southern Islands and Keppel Bay. Keep your eyes open for birds and other little creatures in the trees all around you. And because part of the floor is done in glass, you’ll even have a high-up view of the rainforest underneath you.

The end of the skywalk marks the start of the Fort Siloso grounds. From there, you can choose to take two trails to explore the fort or just walk around on your own.

6 – Take a peek into the past at Fort Siloso

Fort Siloso, Sentosa

You can arrive at Fort Siloso via the Skywalk or via the Siloso trail, which runs below the Skywalk. Be warned that the trail is the more challenging uphill option.

Fort Siloso saw some action during the Pacific War but it was closed after the end of WWII. By the 1970s, it had been converted into a military museum. As the collection grew over the years and the underground tunnels were reopened, Fort Siloso became a national monument and one of  the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore .

Today, visitors can explore it via two trails: the Heritage Trail (which takes you through the historical buildings on the grounds) or the Guns Trail if you’d rather see original cannons and weapons. Or just walk around the grounds, down into the tunnel complex, and through the battery command post and other interesting spots.

If you climb to the Fire Director Tower, you’ll find great views over the water. You’ll find wax statues, recordings, and a number of exhibits retelling the history of the fort all around.

7 – Say hi to sharks and dolphins at the S.E.A. Aquarium

S.E.A. Aquarium, Sentosa

As one of the largest aquariums in the world, it’s no surprise that S.E.A. Aquarium (South East Aquarium) is home to over 100,000 animals housed in over 45 million liters of water. This translates to some massive glass tanks, with the star of the show being the Open Ocean tank. Home to 50,000 animals with a 36-meter-tall viewing wall, the Open Ocean tank houses marine creatures of all sizes, including giant manta rays.

The entire aquarium is divided into 45 diverse habitats. Aside from the main ocean display, popular ones include an underwater shark tunnel habitat, a live coral habitat, and colorful jellyfish tanks.

There’s a touch pool where you can pet sea stars and other delicate animals, and a fascinating Shipwreck Habitat where you can see how the ocean can transform an object and transform it into a home for many species. Eels, giant crabs and dolphins also call the aquarium home.

A visit to the S.E.A. Aquarium is not only fun but also educational thanks to the many interactive exhibits throughout the park. VIP tours at the aquarium allow you to spend the night underwater with views of the Open Ocean habitat and attend a special manta ray feeding.

Tanjong Beach Club, Sentosa

Sentosa is home to a series of fun beach clubs, each offering a distinct blend of luxury, entertainment, and coastal charm. While Sentosa’s beaches are fun enough on their own, visiting a club allows you to combine sun, nightlife, and a more private venue for the ultimate day on the sand.

11 – Take flight on the SkyHelix Sentosa

SkyHelix Sentosa

Singapore’s highest open-air panoramic ride will take you 35 meters up into the sky for 360-degree breathtaking views over Sentosa.

Top off the experience with a cold drink – you can buy one on board or bring one from the snack bar before you get on SkyHelix Sentosa. Sit back and enjoy the breeze, day or night. The last ride is at 9pm every day, so you have a chance to “fly” over the city night lights if you want to.

12 – Work on your tan at Palawan Beach

Palawan Beach, Sentosa

Of the many beaches at Sentosa, Palawan is one of the most popular. Located on the southwest coast of Sentosa, it’s a bit quieter and more relaxed than the other beaches here, attracting families rather than party-goers.

Cotton-soft sand and access to the calm crystal clear waters make this beach a favorite for swimming. Even dogs are welcome here for those who don’t want to leave their furry friends behind.

A bridge connects the beach to Palawan Island, a great place to catch sight of passing ships and a perfect place for a picnic. There are plenty of places to eat, shop and relax here too. Mediterranean Restaurant and Beach Club FOC Sentosa is located here (offering great cabanas and a pool), and the fun Hydrodash water park is nearby.

There’s also a large play area featuring water rides, a coffee shop, and a pirate ship. Palawan amphitheater offers bird shows or you can rent kayaks and paddleboards to enjoy the water.

13 – Hike to the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia

Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, Sentosa

You probably wouldn’t know about this unique landmark on Sentosa Island unless somebody directly pointed you to it. But if you love quirky facts, it might be worth visiting the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, located just off Palawan Beach.

To get there, find the suspension bridge flanked by two tall towers rising on Palawan Beach and cross it to get to the tiny islet on the other end. You’ll see some lush greenery, a tiny sliver of sand, and a sign declaring itself the Southernmost Point.

This has been disputed by Malaysia and math is a bit sketchy as Sentosa is technically an island and not “continental Asia” – but nevertheless, it’s a fun spot for a photo and to catch the views over the sea.

Back across the bridge, make some time to climb to the walkway between the two towers. You’ll have direct views over the Singapore Straits and the tall ships and cruises approaching the coast.

14 – Get your heart pumping at Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett

Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett

Craving some thrills while in Sentosa? You can’t beat Skypark Sentosa by A Hackett for adrenaline-filled attractions.

The main attraction here is the Bungy Jump platform, which sits 50 meters right over Siloso beach. Go up the tower, gear up and experience the awe-inspiring views as you fly over the golden sands. You can jump alone or try their new tandem jump – perfect for beginners afraid to jump alone or those who want to jump with a partner or loved one.

If you’re up for more adventure after that, there’s also the Giant Swing, which will send you flying over the beach at speeds of up to 120km/h. You can even race your friends as you swing or pull the release to safely rush towards the ground at huge speeds.

For a bit more tame experience, you can try the Skybridge. Located 47 meters above the beach, the bridge connects the Skypark’s two towers and offers great views all around – plus a partial glass floor if you dare to look down. It’s a great way to see the world from above without having to jump!

Just grab a table at Ocean Restaurant (reservations are a must) and enjoy your meal as you watch thousands of marine animals swim past you.

Modern-European cuisine is at its best here in every possible way. Dishes are made with whatever produce is fresh for the season (meaning the menu is adjusted throughout the year) and prepared under the direction of two-Michelin star French chef Olivier Bellintwo-Michelin. Pick between a set or a la carte menu – the food won’t disappoint either way.

Ethically-sourced seafood is at the center of the menu here, and the restaurant grows its own herbs so everything is as fresh as it could be. If you’re lucky, you’ll be treated to the sight of giant manta rays and zebra sharks as you enjoy your amazing meal.

19 – Become part of the art at the Trickeye Museum

Trickeye Museum, Sentosa

For the ultimate selfie experience, it’s hard to beat the Trickeye Museum . After all, why pose in front of a “normal” landscape when you could jump within the fangs of a giant piranha, fight a sea monster or enter a haunted house?

At this museum, life-size paintings become 4D optical illusions. Step into them, find the right spot and you’ll suddenly be part of the action.

With six different themed zones covering everything from fairy tales and fantasy to the supernatural and the world of masterpieces, you’ll end up an amazing collection of photos to show your friends back home.

Fort Imbiah, Sentosa

The history of Mount Imbiah Battery dates back to the late 1800s. It was originally an infantry redoubt (a sort of small fort close to a larger fort for added coastal protection) built not far from Fort Siloso.

Despite its small size, 82 infantry soldiers and 19 gunners were permanently stationed there, in charge of a large gun overlooking the west side of the Singapore harbor.

While the fort was no longer in operation by the early 1900s, it was still used to store ammunition until WW II. Today, Sentosa’s Imbiah Lookout is one of the most visited spots in the area, as it offers beautiful views 65 meters over the water.

Reaching the lookout requires a short hike on the Imbiah Trail, which can be reached via the 200-meter-long Imbiah Bridge (look for signs pointing to it). The hike is beautiful, crossing several waterfalls (including the fun Rock Dragon Waterfall), stones covered in moss, lush jungle, and even a 10-meter tall bird-watching tower as you approach the summit.

For a day of adventure and great photo opportunities, this place is hard to beat. Nestopia consists of 17 open-air play areas with plenty of netted obstacle courses and giant slides. Kids will have a chance to climb, bounce and maneuver on the three nets set over seven meters off the ground.

Don’t let the tall structures and challenging rope bridges worry you – the obstacle courses are designed with safety in mind, so adults can just sit back on a bench or a shaded area and let the kids off burn some energy.

Plus, the park has crew members stationed at certain points throughout the course to ensure the kids are following safety recommendations and check that everything goes smoothly.

For a break from the heat, families can sit in one of the wooden huts to paint (coloring books and materials are provided), engage in a game of mini foosball or try some of the organized activities (like face painting). A casual Italian eatery is just steps away once you build up an appetite.

26 – Burn some calories at HydroDash – Floating Aqua Park

HydroDash Floating Aqua Park, Sentosa

Located just off Palwan Beach, Hydrodash is a “human-powered” water park. No mechanic rides, artificial waves or lazy rivers here. Just put on a life jacket and jump on a floating obstacle course that will test your balance, stamina and power.

Get ready to jump, climb and slide as you work your way around Hydrodash. If you arrive during high tide, you’ll also be able to jump off the high tower into the ocean as a reward for completing the run!

Thrill-seekers of all ages over 5 are welcome as long as they can swim – falling off the course into the ocean is almost guaranteed! A special separate obstacle course is available for children 5-6 years old to ensure their safety.

You can buy either a one-hour or a two-hour session when you get a ticket. One hour is more than enough – all that running, falling and climbing provides a nice cardio workout – but you might need two hours if you want to challenge yourself to complete a run without falling off.

A limited number of lockers are available nearby to keep your valuables safe while you get wet.

27 – Hit a hole-in-one at Sentosa Golf Club

Sentosa Golf Club

The host venue for the annual Singapore Open, the Sentosa Golf Club offers a prime location, first-class greens and a resort-style environment that even non-golfers will love.

The setup is spectacular as well – soft lush hills, a beautiful lake, and mighty trees providing natural obstacles but also a great atmosphere.

The club offers two courses. The Serapong is considered one of the best golf courses in Asia and often named as one of the top 100 in the world. It’s a tricky course with a challenging par-72.

The second course, the Tanjong, offers wide open views over the Singapore skyline, a stunning manicured layout, and large sand bunkers that aren’t common in Asia – a great challenge to experienced players who want something different.

Golfers also have access to top-class service here, which includes caddie services, a top-of-the-line clubhouse, a few great restaurants and a pro shop.

28 – Feel like royalty during a Royal Albatross dinner cruise

Royal Albatross dinner cruise, Sentosa

The Royal Albatross is Asia’s only luxury tall ship. Featuring a stunning 22 sails and three decks, this superyacht’s design was inspired by the old galleons that sailed from Europe in the 16th century.

For day sailing and special events, it can carry a crew of up to 12, making it perfect for sunset sails or dinner cruises – the two things the Royal Albatross definitely knows how to do in style.

The Albatross’ luxurious sunset dinner cruises depart from Sentosa, sailing along the coastline, past the beautiful golden beaches and the palm trees swaying in the distance. Sip a welcome drink as the sun starts to set over the calm waters of the bay, painting the sky in bright yellows and pinks. Take in the sights and the clean air as your dinner is being prepared by your experienced, friendly crew.

When it’s time to sit down for dinner, you’ll enjoy a 5-course meal with plenty of choices (both meat-eaters and vegetarians will find lots of options) on the upper deck. Relax and enjoy dining in style as you see the lights of the city turn on against the skyline.

Whether you’re out on a romantic date or celebrating a special occasion with family or friends, this will be an evening to remember.

29 – Get pampered at Sentosa’s best spas

Auriga Spa, Sentosa

A large number of Singapore’s best spas are located in Sentosa. With its tropical vibes, sun and sand escapes, and lush greenery, Sentosa is certainly the right place to be pampered in style.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic space, a place to detox or somewhere to recharge and restore from a long day of shopping and dining, you’ll find a good spa for it on Sentosa.

One of Sentosa’s most popular spas is Auriga Spa , where treatments change base on the moon phases. Recharge after jetlag or try the herbal steam room to wash away your troubles. The Sofitel Spa is another great option that integrates yoga sessions into your spa treatment and even has a spa garden with a pool.

At Chi, The Spa , guests can choose an outdoor treatment space that looks directly over the greenery and even has a children’s pool if you’re traveling with the little ones.

Modern Away Spa (located at the W Singapore Hotel) is another great option. It offers lots of water treatments, including herbal baths and a whirlpool, as well as private treatment rooms with their own plunge pool. Or try the Spa Rael , with views over the water and focusing on holistic wellness.

30 – Spend an afternoon of fun at The Palawan @ Sentosa

The Palawan, Sentosa

The Palawan @ Sentosa is one of the island’s most picturesque beach enclave. A tropical escape of golden sands, deep-blue waters, and swaying palm trees, Palawan is also an entertainment destination that will keep you busy for hours.

Go ahead and jump into the warm sea waters first, then give the Hydrodash, Singapore’s first and only floating aqua park, a try. This floating obstacle course offers challenges for all ages, including monkey bars, climbing towers, and a massive springboard.

Need some time off the water? Try HyperDrive, Asia’s first indoor gamified electric Go-Kart circuit. With a mix of real-life racing and virtual gaming, this is an experience you won’t forget. Palawan’s mini-golf adventure, an 18-hole beachside course with lots of fun greens, is another must-try. Food trucks, cafes, and restaurants make it easy to take a break at any time.

31 – Go kayak fishing and catch your dinner

kayak fishing in Singapore

Kayaking in the waters around Singapore can be a thrilling experience – but add fishing from your kayak to the equation and you’ll have memories for a lifetime.

Kayak fishing tours are semi-private, meaning a maximum of four people can participate. This allows the expert tour guides to offer personalized attention, share information and details, and even take professional photos of the experience. Don’t worry if you’re a beginner (or an expert angler), your tour will be adapted to your skill levels.

The tours, which last about four hours, will take you to a secluded area, where you’ll get on your own leg-powered Hobie kayak and then follow your guide to the fishing area among the mangroves. There will be time to relax, see wildlife, and share experiences. For the ultimate thrills, you can ask to be taken upstream to the Island Hopper for additional fishing opportunities.

Everything you need for the trip is included. In addition to the kayak, you’ll be provided with fishing equipment (fishing rods and reels, as well as bait), vests, a VHF radio to keep in touch, bottled water, and expert tips from your guide.

32 – Experience fun fine-dining at the Michelin-starred Table65 restaurant

table65, Sentosa

Singapore has its fair share of Michelin-starred restaurants. From fine cuisine to street fare to everything in between, you can eat out every night for weeks and still not go through the entire list of decadent food on offer.

But Sentosa’s very own Table65 restaurant is especially unique. A perfect example of upscale casual, Table65 does away with formality. Instead, it offers dining at a communal table, from where you can watch chefs Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot work on their dishes.

The duo, who also runs a restaurant in the Netherlands, is known for their adventurous fine cuisine. At Table65, that means unique creations that levitate, include visual tricks and provide a full-on sensory experience.

Focusing on modern and fun European cuisine for their 5-course menu, the chefs are also known for reinterpreting classics. Their signature dessert, for example, is green sorbet that has been shaped as an apple core and placed inside a giant sugar bubble.

Caviar, black truffle, and other high-end ingredients are often combined with simpler ones for a touch of the unexpected. But there are also melting chocolate domes and golden chocolate shaped as leaves. In short, this is not a place for just food — it’s an adventure on your plate.

You’ll need reservations here to secure a table, especially on weekends.

33 – Try your luck at the Resorts World Sentosa Casino

Resorts World Sentosa Casino

With over 15,000 square meters of gaming space, the Resorts World Sentosa Casino – one of only two casinos in Singapore – will keep you busy for hours.

Part of the resort that also includes Universal Studios, the Adventure Cove Waterpark, and other major attractions, this is a great area to spend an entire day in – just make sure you bring a change of clothes, as the casino enforces a smart casual dress code.

Lively and busy 24/7, the casino offers a large selection of table games, including classics like Baccarat, Blackjack, and Roulette, as well as electronic table games like Derby horse racing and electronic roulette.

For slots fans, there’s a massive open floor space with over 2,400 games – including local favorites like Duo Fu Duo Cai and Cash Cove. Lots of penny slots as well if you’re just there for the fun and don’t care about how much you win.

Poker rooms and VIP areas offer more privacy if you’re ready to play big. Special events and performances are scheduled throughout the week, and guests of the casino can participate in competitions and promotions for additional chances to win and discounts to the resort’s other attractions.

34 – Cool off at Adventure Cove Waterpark

Adventure Cove Waterpark

Experience thrills, laze away in a quiet river, and meet marine life all in one place! Adventure Cove Waterpark is one of a kind. You’ll find exciting water slides, dueling high-speed plunges and wading pools here. But you’ll also have a chance to ride Southeast Asia’s first hydro-magnetic coaster, where you’ll experience gravity-defying climbs and falls.

The biggest pleaser here, though, is Rainbow Reef, where you get a chance to snorkel with 20,000 friendly fish in a giant underwater adventure. Feel like petting some animals after that close-up experience? The friendly rays at the wading pool are waiting for you!

Little kids will find plenty of fun rides and slides too. With 16 different attractions for guests of all ages, you won’t run out of things to keep you busy and having fun.

35 – Have a fun afternoon at Timezone VivoCity

Timezone VivoCity, Singapore

Timezone VivoCity , nestled within Singapore’s largest shopping mall, VivoCity, is a massive entertainment center for all ages. Think of it as a giant gaming arcade with cutting-edge games, mini-bowling games, and air hockey. Both kids and adults will be able to enjoy 6 action-packed VR adventures — choose from bobsledding through a frozen wonderland or flying through space.

In the bumper cars section, visitors can experience the thrill of riding Singapore’s only indoor drift cars. There are also rest zones, a chance to win and collect toys, cards, and merchandise, and plenty of chances to grab a quick snack while you’re running from one game to the next.

After a few hours of session of games and laughter, step outside to explore the surroundings, including the picturesque Sentosa Boardwalk. Famous for its grand views over the by, the boardwalk is also home to sculptures, al fresco restaurants and bars, and a number of themed gardens.

36 – Stick around after dark to see the Magical Shores

Magical Shores show in Sentosa

As the sun comes down on Siloso Beach, an interactive light and sound show transforms the entire coastline into an amazing show. Think of it as an explosion of colors, lights and art projected into the sand. A great (and free!) experience for all ages.

This multi-sensory experience allows you to either sit back or be an active participant. Jump, dance or twirl and the visual effects will bounce off you and onto the sand and the surrounding greenery in a new way. Have fun creating your own images and don’t forget your camera – this is a show you’ll want to remember!

No tickets or reservations are needed to enjoy the magic. Just arrive anytime during the two show sessions (7:30pm to 8:45pm or 9pm to 10:15pm) and be ready to be mesmerized.

37 – Check out 1-Altitude Coast Rooftop Bar

1-Altitude Coast Rooftop Bar, Sentosa

Set on the roof of The Outpost Hotel, the Altitude Coast Rooftop Bar is Singpore’s newest high-altitude destination for a night out. In addition to the great sea and city views, the bar offers a choice of dining options and an adults-only atmosphere for a sophisticated retreat.

Not enough? Altitude Coast also features an infinity pool and live music on selected nights. There are also special events throughout the year, such as Oktober nights during the fall for a chance to try new brews in an electric, vibrant atmosphere.

You don’t have to wait until the sun sets to enjoy this destination, however. The bar is open during the day as well — no matter if you want a bite to eat while admiring the beauty of the beach or want to take advantage of the sun loungers and daybeds. Sundays are pool party days, when DJs play live and drinks flow.

38 – Dance the night away at the ZoukOut Festival

ZoukOut Festival, Singapore

Singapore’s premier dance music festival, ZoukOut takes place on the pristine shores of Sentosa. A dusk-till-dawn event that takes place over two nights every December, the festival attracts music lovers and party-goers from all around the world. Although the festival has been moved a few times, Siloso Beach is now its permanent home.

As the sun sets, the festival ground turns on its lights — neon-lit structures and elaborate stage setups where international DJs and music producers play music non-stop until 8am. DJs that have performed at ZoukOut in the past include radio personality Armin Van Buuren, remix team duo Masters at Work, Grammy-nominee Paul Van Dyk, and electronic music DJ Sven Väth.

Festival themes change every year, which affects the design, colors, and events visitors will see. In addition to music, festival goers will find food trucks, activity booths, and art installations.

39 – Enjoy the magical Wings of Time show

Wings of Time show in Sentosa

End a busy day on Sentosa at Beach Station, where a spectacular 25-minute-long light water night show will bring the shoreline to life.

This award-winning multi-sensory experience combines 3D projection mapping lasers, fire effects, dazzling water jets and music to tell a fascinating story right over the open ocean.

See the mythical Shahbaz, a pre-historic bird-like creature expand its wings and interact with its friends as they travel through time and visit faraway lands in Africa, China, and the times of the Mayas. Will Shahbaz find a place to call home? This epic production will keep both children and adults entertained and ends in a stunning fireworks show.

This is a sit-down experience, so advance tickets are required. Special skip-the-line tickets are available and the show is wheelchair accessible. Don’t miss out on this larger-than-life experience you can only find on Sentosa Island!

How to get to Sentosa?

how to get to Sentosa

Just 10-20 minutes (depending on your choice of transportation) from mainland Singapore, Sentosa Island can be easily accessed in a number of ways.

By car/taxi

Taxis traveling from Singapore to Sentosa Island usually charge a flat fee, though the amount is often higher at night or during peak times. Ask the driver about the cost before you get on. You can get a taxi through taxi booking apps, by calling a taxi hotline or by queuing at a taxi stand.

If you’re driving, you’ll have to pay a fee to enter Sentosa. You can then park at one of the car parks on the islands – public transportation on the island is excellent and a lot more convenient than driving around.

By cable car

The Singapore Cable Car Sky consists of two lines: the Mount Faber Line and the Sentosa Line. To get from the mainland to Sentosa, you need to get on the Mount Faber Line and get off at the last stop. The ride is about 15 minutes long.

You can buy either roundtrip or one-day unlimited cable car tickets. The unlimited tickets are a much better deal if you plan to ride the cable car at least three times a day.

By Sentosa Express

The Sentosa Express, a monorail line that connects mainland Singapore to the Island, is the fastest and cheapest way to reach Sentosa. To catch it, you first need to make your way to the HarbourFront MRT Station, then take the escalator up to level 3 of the VivoCity mall. The Sentosa Express departs from there for the super quick, 5-minute ride to Sentosa.

By Sentosa boardwalk

Want to save money and enjoy some stunning landscapes on your way to Sentosa? You can use the Sentosa Boardwalk (which also starts at the VivoCity Mall) to make your way to the island. This pedestrian canopy-covered walkway runs alongside Sentosa’s vehicular bridge and through five garden-themed landscapes – that include a mangrove and a rainforest — along the way.

The boardwalk is 700 meters long, but don’t worry, it’s fitted with travellators (similar to the moving walkways you’ll find at an airport). If you walk at a relaxed pace on the moving travelator, you’ll be in Sentosa in about 15 minutes.

Where to stay in Sentosa?

where to stay in Sentosa

Sentosa might be a small island, but it’s filled with amazing hotels to cater to every need. Whether you’re looking for a unique setup, a historical location or just a beautiful tropical getaway, Sentosa won’t disappoint.

The beachfront Shangri-La is the only hotel in Sentosa with direct access to the beach. Famous for its many water activities (paddle boarding and kayaking, just to name a few), the hotel is also kid-friendly (water slides, anyone?) and home to a great on-site spa.

For ocean views and lush gardens, Capella is a great choice. The colonial building has been renovated to offer luxury at every turn, so you can feel pampered as you relax in one of the many suites or try the rooftop Jacuzzi.

The W Singapore is the place to be if you want activities galore. With one of the largest outdoor pools in Singapore, private cabanas and evening pool parties, this is the perfect option for the extroverts out there. Modern rooms, an exclusive bar serving champagne cocktails, and plenty of dining options round up the offers here.

French style meets tropical lush at the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa , where you’ll find formal gardens, great restaurants, and a spa with outdoor treatment areas.

For a unique getaway you cannot find anywhere else in Singapore, there’s the Ocean Suites at Resorts World Sentosa – Beach Villas . Part of the S.E.A Aquarium, the Ocean Suites offers two-story rooms – with bedrooms that instead of windows have a glass wall that looks right into the underwater marine life.

Visiting Sentosa on a budget?

Sentosa can cost you quite a bit of money if you’re trying to fit many attractions into just a few days. But don’t worry, there are plenty of free things to do in Sentosa – pick a few of them to fit in between paid activities and you’ll end up saving quite a bit of money without even realizing it.

Beaches in Sentosa are free, and many come with added attractions and activities like water play areas (the Palawan Pirate Ship at Palawan Beach is a lovely option for families). Fort Siloso is free to enter (and so are tours a few times a week) and you can also watch the nightly performance of the Crane Dance on the waterfront for free.

To save money on the most famous attractions, the Sentosa Fun Pass provides access to over 70 attractions with savings of up to 55% over regular prices. Buy a pass with 60, 95 or 130 tokens worth of credit and use that for your favorite activities. Ride the SkyHelix Sentosa or enjoy a Sentosa Segway Tour for 15 tokens or make your way to the S.E.A. Aquarium for 35 tokens.

Where to go next?

The fun doesn’t end in Sentosa. In fact, there are lots of fun things to do in Singapore beyond the famous resort island. Visit lush gardens and magical surroundings at Gardens by the Bay, head to the Marina Bay Sands Skypark for great views over the city, or ascend into the skies on the Singapore Flyer.

After a day of fun in Sentosa, it’s worth visiting Pulau Ubin, where you can ride a bike around a traditional village or kayak in the wetlands.

Singapore is perfectly located for plenty of short trips. Less than an hour away from Singapore by ferry you can find Bintan, a great Indonesian destination perfect for a day trip – no matter if you want to golf or visit secluded white-sandy beaches. Indonesia’s Batam Island is also an hour away, while UNESCO World Heritage Site Malacca City is a foodie paradise.

Looking to travel even farther? From Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand to Luang Prabang in Laos or Siem Reap in Cambodia, some of the best places to visit in Southeast Asia are just a short flight away.

Final thoughts

Sentosa is a lively island resort with an amazing mix of tropical beaches, adrenaline-filled attractions, and food to please any palate.

There’s as much to do outdoors as inside (when you’re ready to escape the heat), and plenty to keep you entertained in the sun as well as when the city lights come on after sunset. From historical sights to modern marvels, Sentosa Island truly has it all.

We hope you find our list of things to do in Sentosa useful to help you start planning your visit. You’ll definitely be hard-pressed to pick just a few attractions – Sentosa Island could literally keep you busy for weeks!
