Southall Travel is an award winning travel agency established in 1984 in Southall, Middlesex. Southall Travel’s headquarters are now based in Iver in Buckinghamshire and it has offices both in Europe and Asia employing over 700 trained travel experts.  Southall Travel operates with an ATOL (Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing) license and is an ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) member and is IATA (International Air Transport Association) accredited, offering travellers the best in financial protection.

In the beginning Southall Travel concentrated especially on the Asian UK community, arranging travel to India and other Asian destinations. Other leisure services soon followed and Southall Travel now offers flights and holiday packages globally, (mainly for travellers departing from UK airports). Southall Travel caters for all kinds of flights at competitive prices including scheduled flights with full-service airlines, low cost carriers and charter flight operators.  Southall Travel also deals in cruises, round-the-world holidays, bespoke all-inclusive holiday packages, airport transfers, car rental, visa assistance, insurance and group travel bookings.  In addition Southall Travel operates in the wholesale and corporate travel sectors through ‘The Holiday Team’ and ‘Applehouse Travel’ and opened a corporate facility outside Heathrow Airport in 2008.

Southall Travel is a privately owned company which helps more than a thousand people a day with their travel plans and has been the recipient of a number of noteworthy awards.  In 2005 Southall Travel received the prestigious Sunday Times Fast Track 100 company award followed by three consecutive Sunday Times Top Track 250 Company awards in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and recently received the ‘Favourite Tour Operator to India’ award at the Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards.  To complement this series of awards, Managing Director Kuljinder Bahia, under whose leadership the company operates, scooped the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008, at the 8 th Asian Achievers Awards held in London.

As the business continues to grow, Southall Travel has now branched out into the luxury holiday sector with a fully owned subsidiary with a dedicated contact centre based in Croydon.

The first time I made a booking with these guys, I was surprised at how cheap they came up against competitors which left me feeling a bit doubtful. However, from the booking to receiving the of the ticket by post or email, the agents were very professional and helpful. I've not been able to find cheaper prices elsewhere and they have now become my number one agency on the call list before window shopping. Thanks Southall Travel team !!

Fraud, Fraud, Fraud!!! this company has agents working in their office calling people and selling them tickets using other company names!!!! they collect money in to Southall travels bank account if they cant take payment over the phone using apps like paysend, and when questioned when they are found out that why are fraudsters using your bank to hide funds they have no answer! the Metropolitan police force are also aware of this! so if you have been scammed by people taking money for tickets and not receiving tickets 100% it will be Southall travel! they make fake advertisements on Facebook constantly and use several company names and addresses.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are thieves and steal money from their customers! I paid a £150 deposit in good faith, which I was told was refundable should I not wish to go ahead my booking. I ended up booking tickets myself and they refused to give me my money back. I lodged a complaint and despite having evidence and their calls being recorded, they fobbed me off and keep telling me they will sort this out and get back to me. This has been going on for the last 6 months. Southall Travel are thieves and liars and should be ashamed of themselves.

I have had the worst experience of my life, also the most expensive flight I have ever paid for with AIR INDIA, returning home 03/02/23( Never again). I have booked Flights with Southall Travel since the 80's so felt I could still trust them for a good deal. Return Flights costing £3800.00 for crap seats with an 89yr old woman seated at the back of the plane who also needed wheelchair assistance is really disgusting behaviour. Never again, also asking many passengers how much they had paid £1300 was the most expensive !!! I have officially complained to Air India also. The cost of living these days are so difficult normally and as this wasn't an actual holiday, what a big mistake using your company, MG Innes

Scamming agency- DO NOT USE. They refuse to refund the money for a cancelled flight inspite of airlines saying they have refunded more than a month ago. We have also found out that they lie in their website about being register with ABTA for dispute resolution. This agency SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE!!! AVOID at all cost! No point in contacting the customer service either!

No such thing as a "youth" ticket for 12-15 year olds Decided to book a holiday to Dubai at midnight and instead of booking directly on Emirates website we thought we'd call Southall Travel, knowing they'd be open. Wish we hadn't! We booked for 2 adults, a 12 year old and 5 year old. A 12 year old is classed as an adult, but when we went to check in, Emirates website said our eldest was booked on a child ticket. We called Southall Travel who assured us that our 12 year old was booked on a "youth" ticket and would be fine to travel. We called Emirates to check as we didn't want any problems at the airport. Emirates told us there is no such thing as a "youth" ticket and that Southall Travel would need to reissue the ticket as an adult ticket. Southall Travel wouldn't reissue the ticket so we asked them to send us an email to confirm that we wouldn't have any problems at the desk. We then spoke to a friend of ours who works for Emirates and she also said she'd never heard of a youth ticket before. We called ST again and asked them to reissue the ticket. After a few phonecalls, they did and we travelled to Dubai with no issues. However, we had the same issue on our return journey. This time, we managed to check in online fine, but when we went to check in at the desk, Emirates said the same thing, that our 12 year old had been issued a child ticket and not an adult ticket. They then asked us to go to the ticket desk at Dubai airport and speak with our travel agent. Again, after many phonecalls, no luck with ST. The man at the desk got fed up and said put the phone down I will issue you an adult ticket myself! Long story short, don't trust Southall Travel to book you a ticket for a 12-15 year old - as they class this as a "youth" ticket - when there is no such thing. What should have been a straight forward trip to Dubai, became a stressful experience - with many unnecessary phone calls between ST and Emirates, and also a 12 year old who thought we may not be able to travel! I definitely won't be using Southall Travel again and won't recommend it either. All of the travel consultants we spoke to were arrogant, patronising and unhelpful. I write this review so that other parents aren't faced with a similar situation.

DO NOT!!! use this firm. They took £15204.44 off me for £1520.04 flights and I then had to pay £240 to get it back. If you want trusted cheap flights use 'Google flights' Then you can book direct with the Airline.

Rubbish travel agent I booked tickets to travel to India via jet airways which failed while i was in India I contacted them and travel agent instead of helping started selling me tickets - return for £1700 pounds per person - Some of my friends bought it. I purchased new tickets to fly back and now I am claiming money via credit card chargeback scheme and this crooks are preventing them They are not ATOL protected and they sell tickets for airlines that is not ATOL protected too. so providing wrong information to customers Customer service remains poor and they do not have complaint procedure/policy or department. I have serious concerned about this travel agent. I am in process of reporting them for fraud.

I am angry I am hurt by southal travel treatment I was coustomer since 2012 My email was hacked so I created different e mail , by the time my phone contract was finished so I took different phone number it wasn't any other matters with change e mail and change phones I changed the address Iused to buy tickets and travel same name same everything Now I needed my 5 years travel history for official reason and called them in between seven days I spoke to 10 agents of southal travel I have e mail customer care but they didn't back me for neither call or email there was no luck what's so ever. I decided to talk to the manager one person came phone he introduced himself as manager called Reymond at first he seems genuinely want solve my problems he crossed check my previous number my previous address it was fine I was talking to him in Friday and promise me that he will give me by Monday . when Monday came he didn't call or email me again I called him and find out he was changed person data protection act he can't give it to me again I did offer him that any sort of documents driving license or passport which I always travel theare tickets I was so politely request them no luck I am amezed that the data they are talking about that's my data I am ready to verify even in court They are very unhelpful unprofessional I am very sad thire treatment

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once you have booked and they have your money they do not want to help you. They are not bothered about telling you they won't help you. The staff are rude and the managers are just as bad. The flights were cheap but it's not worth it. I will never use this terrible service again. I was using them to book flights for my wedding in Thailand. I can't undo my booking. I will ensure nobody else attending the wedding use them. I would advise you to look elsewhere.

How to Make Complaints about Flights and Holiday Problems

Cheap flights to India or package deals for any other equally popular long haul destination do not come by often. The article discusses the complaint procedure in case such flights or holidays are jeopardised even before they are utilised.

Imagine having painstakingly booked those cheap holiday deals and flights to such long haul destination as India and being faced with circumstances that put your holiday in jeopardy.

There could be nothing sadder for a holidaymaker than arriving with family at the airport to board flights to India and being denied boarding due to an invalid visa or a similar problem. Unquestionably, it takes long planning, research and valuable time and money for grabbing those tickets on  cheap flights to India . What can one do in such situations?

Undoubtedly, the situation calls for lodging a complaint with the airline or the travel agent responsible. Read on to know more about the key aspects and tips for making complaints to get the best results.

Report Immediately

Do not delay. Make a complaint as soon as the problem occurs. While  airlines  may attend to issues relating to booking made directly with them promptly, they generally direct the passengers to the travel agents for bookings made with them. Though, airlines might resolve some minor problems without needing passengers to contact the agents, passengers must notify the problem to their agents as soon as it occurs if they plan to pursue a complaint on their return. Not doing so may affect traveller’s later claim.

Gather Information

The airline and the travel agents are usually able to sort out the problems as soon as they are notified of the same. Yet, the stress and anxiety caused in case of major issues may last longer. Most travellers generally decide to, as well as are advised by the apologetic airlines and travel agents to write a complaint on their return to the UK. Travellers must gather names of the officials they deal with to resolve the issue and any necessary documents validated by the airline to support their complaint later.

Written Complaint

Complaints are best made in writing. Save receipts for additional costs incurred on flight tickets, hotels, transfers etc and include these in your claim. Besides reimbursement, if you feel you deserve compensation for any inconvenience caused, do include a reasonable amount for the same in the total claim figure.

Most travel agents and airlines, if convinced of your complaint, would accept the claim after diligent investigation lasting from few to many weeks. Negotiation of the passengers’ claim is quite an industry norm; airlines and travel agents may not reimburse and or compensate the clients fully. In case you are not satisfied with the resolution offered by them or in case the dispute reaches an impasse, travellers can have recourse to certain regulatory bodies.

Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA)

ABTA governs the activities of travel agents and tour operators in the UK and its membership is the seal of reliability for these travel agents and tour operators. ABTA offers to resolve complaints with member travel agents; it investigates the complaints and can influence the agents to resolve the issues in a timely and efficient manner through correspondence. ABTA also offers Arbitration Scheme for customers to pursue their claims; however, there is an arbitration cost involved. Guidance to pursue a claim through arbitration can be accessed on  www.abta.com .

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)

If you have forwarded a complaint to the airline with whom you booked your flight tickets and you are not satisfied with the outcome, CAA can help you with the resolution. Remember, there are certain prerequisites that must be satisfied before one can expect CAA to handle one’s complaint. All complaints to CAA are required to be sent in writing (email or letter). The contact information as well as the conditions can be checked on the CAA’s website  www.caa.co.uk .

County Court – Small Claims procedures

If regretfully, all the recourses yielded no satisfactory outcome, the traveller can decide to pursue the complaint/claim through small claims in the county court. However, the reasons for an unsatisfactory resolution at the previous level of dispute resolution authorities must be heeded and analysed to ascertain the validity of your claim before you decide to opt for county court track.
