The first batch of tickets for Taylor Swift’s 2024 UK tour have gone on sale – and rapidly sold out.

Fans who pre-ordered her latest album, Midnights , from her official website have the chance to secure tickets before the rest of the general public.

The Eras tour has already travelled through the United States, and will hit Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe before finally reaching the UK next summer.

When are Taylor Swift’s UK tour dates?

Swift was originally only scheduled to perform 10 UK shows, but recently added three more in Edinburgh, London and Liverpool.

Taylor Swift on stage

How to get tickets for Taylor Swift’s 2024 UK Eras Tour, including price and extra London dates

It’s been five years since Tay last set foot on our shores

Chiara Wilkinson

Hot Swiftie summer is well and truly on the way. While Taylor Swift might currently be taking her Eras tour around Australia , it won’t be long before she hits UK  shores. Only a few more months to spend waiting around, pouring over set lists and constantly refreshing our feeds to hear news about the star.

On her US leg, we saw the mega star perform through a torrential storm, dive head first into the stage, partake in a short-lived (and bizarre) relationship with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, and bring her ex Taylor Lautner out to do a few backflips. We can only hope that the UK leg will be just as exciting and spectacular.

And as any hardcore fan knows, Tay Tay truly is the gift that keeps on giving. After the chaotic scramble for UK tickets left thousands disappointed, she announced extra dates and is set to play 15 shows in the UK – including eight in London. Here's everything we know about Taylor’s Eras tour in the UK.

When is Taylor Swift coming to the UK as part of her 2024 Eras tour?

We now know for sure that Taylor is going on tour in the UK and dates have finally been announced. She’ll be over in two rounds throughout June and August – you can find out more about specific dates and locations below.

Two new London shows announced for the UK Eras tour

Additional shows were announced for London’s Wembley Stadium on August 19 and August 20, with tickets available to a limited number of fans who registered for London shows earlier this year.

When do Taylor Swift Eras tickets go on sale in the UK?

Tickets for the new London shows went on sale on November 14 and November 15, while tickets for the other shows went live last July.

How do the Ticketmaster on-sale codes work?

On July 5 2023, fans were contacted by Ticketmaster to let them know if they’ve received an ‘on-sale code’ or have been placed on a waiting list.

The ticketing platform stressed that tickets would be provided on a first come, first serve basis, meaning that not everyone who registered in advance will receive an on-sale code. If you were lucky enough to get one, it included timing details and a link to where the on-sale would occur, as well as a unique, non-transferable access code. However, the code did not guarantee that you would secure a ticket.

Fans who did not receive an email were placed on a waiting list until a later date when further tickets become available. Fingers crossed for you.

How can I register for tickets?

To help tickets reach the hands of fans who want to attend the shows, there was the opportunity to register for tickets. Registration closed on Thursday, June 22 at 11.59pm (local time) in the UK, and on Friday, June 23 at 11.59pm (local time) in Ireland and Europe.

Registered fans who received a unique code were able to use them to buy tickets in each city at specified dates and times. Fans who wanted an opportunity to access ticket sales in multiple cities needed to register once for each city they wanted to attend.

Was there any presale?

Fans who participated in the Taylor Swift UK store ‘Midnights’ album pre-order offer qualified for special pre-sale access to all UK and Ireland shows.

The first of those presales was on July 10 at 10am, which was for the London dates and some of the Edinburgh ones. More than 40,000 Swifties joined an online queue in an attempt to snap up tickets before the general sale. Other presales took place on July 11 (for Edinburgh and Dublin) and July 12 (Cardiff and Liverpool).

Unfortunately, if you missed out on pre-ordering the album, you had to wait for general sale to be in with a chance of grabbing tickets.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets in the UK?

For the London and Edinburgh date presales, tickets ranged in price from around £59 (for partial or obstructed view tickets) to £110 for general admission standing. Front standing was priced at about £172, while seated tickets went up to  £194.

Want to go VIP?

And if you’re absolutely swimming in wonga and have acute Swift-itis you can spend from £799 on hospitality packages that get you things like premium seats, arrival via the hospitality entrance, premium dining options and other cool-but-expensive things. Find out more here .

What’s going on with resale tickets?

With tickets as precious as these, it’s no wonder that they’re already being resold at extortionate prices. Despite a four ticket limit per buyer, resale sites Viagogo and Stubhub already have tickets being resold. Some are listed for as high as £6,000.

Needless to say, you should be especially careful when buying anything on resale and only buy from official resale websites.

What’s been said about the tour so far?

Taylor Swift kickstarted her tour at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium in March, where she debuted a mega three-hour set playing songs from across her career.

The production includes 16 dancers and many set and costume changes, as well as a moment where the singer appears to ‘dive’ into the stage.

At her show in Arlington, Texas, Swift teased the crowd saying: ‘One thing we said about the Eras Tour: you think you can just go online, you think you can just scroll and know the setlist?

‘Let it be said about the Eras Tour ,  we’re tricksy. That’s what we are [and] we enjoy a good, healthy setlist hijinks.'

Translation? Expect the unexpected.

What’s the current setlist for her Eras Tour?

The show is made up of an epic 44-song setlist divided up according to the singer’s ten ‘eras’, which each refer to one of her albums.

The songs included ‘ Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince’, ‘Cruel Summer’, ‘The Man’, ‘You Need to Calm Down’, ‘Lover’, ‘The Archer’, ‘Fearless’, ‘You Belong With Me,’ ‘Love Story’, ‘Tis The Damn Season’, ‘Don’t Blame Me’, ‘22’, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, ‘Shake it Off’, ‘Anti-Hero’, ‘Mastermind’ and ‘Karma’.

She also performs two different surprise acoustic songs each night and has invited other musicians to perform with her on stage including Phoebe Bridgers and The National’s Aaron Dessner.

Although Taylor Swift isn’t due to kick off the UK and European leg of her Eras Tour until May 2024, tickets for her 13 UK dates are on sale this month.

Fans were left furious last week after presale tickets for her ongoing world tour appeared on secondary ticketing sites for thousands of pounds within minutes.

Sites selling tickets crashed, with nearly 40,000 people joining the online queue on when the presale for the US pop star’s London and Edinburgh shows began at 11am. Early access was granted to fans who had pre-ordered Swift’s album Midnights.

On reselling site Viagogo , at the time of writing, tickets for London’s Wembley Stadium show were on sale for as much as £3,352.

Fans are in with another chance, though, as the general sale for Swift’s UK dates continues this week.

Today (19 July), tickets will go on sale at 11:00 BST for Swift’s London show on 23 June 2024. At 13.00, tickets will be made available for another London date on 17 August 2024, and then at 15.00 for her Cardiff show on 18 June 2024.

Saturday 8 June – Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium

Sunday 9 June – Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium [recently added]

Saturday 22 June – London, Wembley Stadium

Sunday 23 June – London, Wembley Stadium [recently added]

Those who pre-ordered Swift’s latest Midnights album from her official website should receive a pre-sale code by email sometime between Thursday 6 July and Friday 7 July, 2023. Don’t forget to check your spam folder!

Pre-sale tickets will go on sale a week before general sales.

Monday 10 July 2023

Tuesday 11 July 2023

Wednesday 12 July 2023

11:00 – London, 23 June

As a reminder, pre-sale codes don’t guarantee a ticket purchase. Only a percentage of tickets will be reserved for pre-sale.

What if I didn’t pre-register for tickets?

Unfortunately, if you didn’t register with Ticketmaster within three days after the dates were announced on 20 June, you won’t have access to the general sale.

A certain number of those who registered will get first access to the sale, the rest will be put on a waitlist. If tickets remain, those on the waitlist may receive an access code to join the ticket sale.

Advanced registration is a way for Ticketmaster to minimise bots and professional resellers from poaching tickets from real fans who actually plan on attending the show.

How many tickets can I buy?

Each customer is limited to four tickets only.

The UK leg of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour will kick off on 7 June 2024 in Edinburgh and wrap up on 20 August 2024 in London.

Ticket availability is extremely limited, and some ticket options will be unavailable.

Ticketholders can resell any or all of their tickets, including the lead booker ticket, via AXS or Ticketmaster.

Through the official resale facilities, ticket resale prices are capped to help combat the inflation of ticket prices and put a stop to ticket touting and bots.

Purchasing tickets via the official resale facilities also ensures that the ticket you are purchasing is genuine. As set out in the terms and conditions of sale, any tickets found to be purchased via resale on the non-official secondary market will not be valid for entry into the concerts and will be cancelled. Therefore, we strongly advise that you sell and purchase your tickets via the official ticket agents.

Taylor Swift general sale access codes latest and UK ticket release timings

Fans who registered for Taylor Swift's The Eras tour tickets before June 22 were expecting an email on Friday

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Dublin

Taylor Swift has caused quite a lot of noise around The Eras Tour as fans scramble to get tickets. This week those who had bought Taylor's Midnights album last year and had been contacted with a special code were able to attempt to get tickets in the pre-sale.

However for those who didn't qualify for the pre-sale they will now be looking ahead to next week when the general sale kicks off. The general sale is only for those who signed up to take part in it. If you didn't register for tickets last month then unfortunately you've missed your chance to try in the general sale next week.

If you did register last month then you would have been sent an email from Ticketmaster confirming your registration. The next step will be receiving an email from either Ticketmaster or AXS confirming whether you have been selected for a code or placed on the waitlist.

But what time should you expect the access code email and when does the general sale start? Here's everything you need to know.

When should Taylor Swift fans expect their access codes?

Those who have registered for the general sale should get an email from either Ticketmaster or AXS confirming whether they have been selected for a code or placed on the waitlist by 11.59pm on Friday, July 14.

Ticketmaster said: "If you are selected to receive an access code you will receive an email with your code by 11.59pm on Friday, July 14. This email will include timing details and a link to where the on-sale will occur and your unique, non-transferrable access code."

It's important to note, however, that registration does not guarantee access to the sale or to tickets. Ticketmaster added: "Please note we expect there will be more demand than there are tickets available. Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis while currently available inventory lasts."

When do tickets for each UK date go on general sale?

The UK leg of Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour will kick off on June 7, 2024, in Edinburgh and wrap up on August 17 next year in London. Taylor will be coming to Cardiff on June 18, 2024 . She also has Ireland dates in Dublin from June 28-30.

Taylor Swift fans will be scrambling to get tickets when her UK tour dates go on general sale next week. The Shake It Off singer is bringing her three-hour-long hits-filled set to London, Liverpool, Cardiff and Edinburgh during the European leg of her tour next summer.

She is set to play a total of 13 UK shows in June and August, including three nights at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium and six nights at Wembley.

Fans who pre-ordered a copy of her latest release Midnights last year were the first in line for a spot at the shows, with thousands of fans managing to bag tickets in the presales earlier this week. From Monday, July 17, Swifties who registered for access to the general sales will be in with a chance.

Back on June 20, when Taylor announced the first dates for the UK leg of her tour, fans were told that anyone who wanted to purchase a ticket for the shows, and didn't preorder the Midnights album, would have to register with Ticketmaster first. Fans were given just a couple of days to sign up for the general sale.

Ticketmaster have announced MAJOR changes to Taylor Swifts ticket sale dates - here are the updated times

By the end of today, those fans who registered will learn whether or not they were selected to receive an access code. Tour promotor AEG has made it clear that not everyone who registered will have been successful - a "limited number" of people will get a code, while everyone else will be placed on a waitlist.

If you're looking to get tickets in the general sales next week, here's everything we know about when codes will be released, what happens if you don't get one and what you need to do with it when the time comes.

Who can buy tickets in the general sale?

The general sale is only for registered fans. Only people with an access code will be able to try and purchase tickets in the sale.

If you didn't register for tickets last month then unfortunately you've missed your chance to try in the general sale next week. Ticketmaster has not yet said whether registration will reopen at a later date or if more tickets will go on sale nearer the time.

Will everyone who registered get an access code?

Unfortunately not. Fans have been told that registration does not guarantee an access code.

Explaining the rules, AEF said: "A limited number of registrants will have the opportunity to access the ticket sale and everyone else will be placed on the waitlist. Due to the demand for these shows, and to ensure the maximum number of fans have the opportunity to access tickets, registrants will be randomly selected for the opportunity to access the ticket sale."

When will fans find out if they have a code or not?

Fans who registered last month were sent an email from Ticketmaster confirming that their registration had been received and that they should await further information on July 5. When that day came, many were expecting to find out whether or not they had been successful for a code - but instead, three further UK dates were added to the schedule.

While news of more shows was good news for Swifties, it did mean that they had even longer to wait to find out their fate.

AEG told fans who had registered for the shows that they would get an email from either Ticketmaster or AXS confirming whether they had been selected for a code or placed on the waitlist by 11.59pm on Friday, July 14.

Can codes be used on both Ticketmaster and AXS?

No. Both Ticketmaster and AXS will be holding sales and codes can only be used with one of them. The email you get will make it clear which ticket outlet your code is for.

AEG said: "For UK dates, ticket inventory will be split evenly between the official ticket agents Ticketmaster and AXS. If you are selected, you will be randomly assigned a unique non-transferable access code to EITHER Ticketmaster or AXS."

You will need to create an account with your email address for whichever outlet your code is from to purchase tickets. Make sure you have done this before the sale starts as you won't be able to access the sale without being signed in.

Can codes be used for any city?

Again, no. Fans wanting to get tickets in different cities had to register for each specific city they wanted to try for.

If you do get a code, it will be for whichever city is attached to that registration. Your code can only be used for that city, but if there are multiple dates for your chosen city, it can be used for any of those sales.

How many tickets can you get?

Each unique code can get you up to four tickets. It's not known for sure whether you can purchase four tickets across different shows using the same code - those trying to have had mixed results.

In the presales, some fans were able to purchase two tickets for one show and another two tickets for a separate show using the same code. However, some people reported using their code once and being unable to use it again despite not reaching their ticket limit.

taylor swift uk tour tickets general sale

Some fans are also concerned that having bought tickets in the presale, they may be unable to purchase more in the general sales. Ticketmaster has warned that orders may be cancelled if multiple orders associated with the same email address or payment method are found to have been made.

Responding to fans on Twitter the ticket outlet said: "Persons who exceed the ticket limit of 4 may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster at its discretion. This includes orders associated with the same name, e-mail address, billing address, credit card number or other info. Thanks!"

What can you do if you don't get a code?

Don't lose hope if you don't get a code. Fans who are on the waitlist may still get their chance to access the sale.

AEG said: "If you are not initially selected, you will be placed on the waiting list to receive a code. If you are placed on the waitlist, and any further tickets become available, you may be sent an email to join the sale."

If you move off the waiting list, you will be sent an email containing your access code details and where to access the relevant sale. So keep an eye on your inbox

Ticketmaster says your notification may come at any time after ticket sales begin.

When do tickets for each UK date go on general sale?

Here is the full list of Taylor's UK dates next year - and when each one will go on sale next week.

Note that sales take place across three days, with three sales taking place each day - at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. You'll need to be ready as soon as the tickets for your chosen show go on sale, as they are expected to sell out quickly.

  • June 7 - Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium (General sale at 11am on Monday, July 17)
  • June 8 - Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium (General sale at 1pm on Monday, July 17)
  • June 9 - Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium (General sale at 3pm on Monday, July 17)
  • June 13 - Liverpool, Anfield Stadium (General sale at 11am on Tuesday, July 18)
  • June 14 - Liverpool, Anfield Stadium (General sale at 1pm on Tuesday, July 18)
  • June 15 - Liverpool, Anfield Stadium (General sale at 3pm on Tuesday, July 18)
  • June 18 - Cardiff, Principality Stadium (General sale at 3pm on Wednesday, July 19)
  • June 21 - London, Wembley Stadium (General sale at 11am on Monday, July 17)
  • June 22 - London, Wembley Stadium (General sale at 11am on Tuesday, July 18)
  • June 23 - London, Wembley Stadium (General sale at 11am on Wednesday, July 19)
  • August 15 - London, Wembley Stadium (General sale at 1pm on Monday, July 17)
  • August 16 - London, Wembley Stadium (General sale at 1pm on Tuesday, July 18)
  • August 17 - London, Wembley Stadium (General sale at 1pm on Wednesday, July 19)

How will the ticket sales work?

If the ticket sale takes place in the same way as the presales then it should be fairly straightforward.

Half an hour before the sale takes place, you will be able to access a waiting room. You can access the waiting room through the link in your email confirming your access code. Only people with an access code are allowed to go into the waiting room and you will need to be signed into your account before you enter.

Once you're in the waiting room, you will automatically be placed in the queue as soon as tickets go on sale. Places in the queue are assigned randomly, so it doesn't matter if you enter the waiting room half an hour before the sale or one minute before the sale - you'll still be assigned a random place in the queue.

Photo shows the stage for the Eras Tour show in Pittsburgh

If you're on Ticketmaster you will be able to see how many people are ahead of you in the queue. If you're on AXS you will see a bar showing your progress.

Once you reach the front of the queue you will be asked for your access code and you will be taken through to the ticket buying page. Here, you have to select the type of tickets you want - for example front standing, general admission standing, seated or the VIP packages.

If you are buying seated tickets, you will need to choose which price level you want to purchase - the cheapest seats will have the most restricted view, while the most expensive seats will have the best view. Once you're assigned your seats you will be able to check where they are on the seating plan before you confirm your purchase.

Once your payment has been made, you will get an email confirming your purchase.

Taylor Swift fans will find out their ticket fate tomorrow as it marks the deadline of general sale registration for The Eras Tour in the UK.

Swifites who have signed up to take part in the ticket general sale for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in the UK will know by Friday, July 14 whether they have been given a place or not. It's one of the first times Ticketmaster and AXS has ran a ticketing event in this way, by allocating ticket registrations randomly via email sign ups.

Those who want to see the 33-year-old hitmaker won't be able to buy tickets in the general sale next week unless they have received an email from Ticketmaster or AXS. It comes after thousands upon thousands of fans queued on Ticketmaster this week during the pre-sale ticket launches.

At one point, more than 15,000 people queued for the first show on sale at London's Wembley Stadium , while there was even more demand for international dates, with 71,000 joining the queue for Amsterdam.

Fans who didn't buy the Midnights album between the dates of August 29, 2022 and October 27, 2022, won't have took part in the pre-sale, and there only option now will be general sale which starts next week.

The first tickets to go on sale will be shows in London and Edinburgh on Monday, July 17 across three time slots throughout the day, in a similar way to how they did the pre-sale launches.

Here's a break down of the general sale ticket launches:

Monday July 17, 11am - London, Wembley (June 21) and Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium (June 7)

Monday July 17, 1pm - London, Wembley (August 15) and Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium (June 8)

Monday July 17, 3pm - Edinburgh, BT Murrayfield Stadium (June 9)

Tuesday, July 18, 11am - London, Wembley (June 22) and Liverpool, Anfield (June 13)

Tuesday, July 18, 1pm - London, Wembley (August 16) and Liverpool, Anfield (June 14)

Tuesday, July 18, 3pm - Liverpool, Anfield (June 15)

Wednesday, July 19, 11am - London, Wembley (June 23)

Wednesday, July 19, 1pm - London, Wembley (August 17)

Wednesday, July 19, 3pm - Cardiff, Principality Stadium (June 18)

Thursday, July 20, 11am - Dublin, Aviva Stadium (June 28)

Thursday, July 20, 1pm - Dublin, Aviva Stadium (June 29)

Thursday, July 20, 3pm - Dublin, Aviva Stadium (June 30)

Swifties may have already received an email telling them of their general sale registration for the show dates they signed up for. The email will also tell fans which ticketing site they have been allocated, which will either be AXS or Ticketmaster - however, for shows in Ireland only Ticketmaster will be running these.

Ticketmaster has stressed that tickets will be provided on a "first come first serve basis" as demand is expected to be extremely high. If fans do not receive an email by 11.59pm on Friday, July 14 , it means they will not have been given a place on general sale and will be put on the waiting list.

Event promoter AEG sent an email to fans on Wednesday, July 5 following the announcement from Swift of more shows added to the UK and European leg of the Eras Tour, along with the support act, Paramore.

AEG's email read: "All registrants will receive a further email from either Ticketmaster or AXS confirming their selected/waitlist status by 23:59 Friday 14 July.

"Successful registrants will be selected at random to receive access codes. If you are not initially selected, you will be placed on the waiting list to receive a code.

"If you are placed on the waitlist, and any further tickets becomes available, you may be sent an email to join the sale. Tickets will be sold on a first-come first-served basis while currently available inventory lasts."

If selected, Ticketmaster has said the email will include timing details and a link to where the on-sale will occur, along with fan's unique, non-transferrable access code.

Ticketmaster accounts associated with e-mails that have been assigned codes will be allowed access to the sale. Only four tickets per code will be allowed in the general sale and codes are non-transferable and should not be shared.

European cities hope jet-setting Taylor Swift fans will splash the cash for Eras tour

The superstar arrives in Europe next month – and Swifties, tourist boards and venues are already preparing

T im Brown, 44, and his wife, Marcella, 34, may not consider themselves bona fide “Swifties”, but when it was announced last June that Taylor Swift would be visiting their corner of the globe this summer they could not resist joining the scramble for a pair of tickets.

A post-pandemic appetite for live music events has fuelled huge worldwide interest in the American singer-songwriter’s Eras tour, which surpassed in $1bn sales in November to become the highest-grossing series of concerts in history.

The pop culture event of the summer will arrive in Europe next month, kicking off in Paris on 9 May and wrapping up in London on 20 August with 49 dates in between in Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The unique nature of the tour’s ticketing system, which was tweaked after a number of hitches last year, means there will be a mass movement of travelling fans who will not only be Swiftie in affiliation but swift-like in their willingness to travel across the continent.

In expectation of intense demand, Ticketmaster introduced a pre-registration system that rewarded some early applicants with access codes to the ticket sale proper, via staggered windows for each city.

Notionally designed to prioritise genuine fans over “scalpers” – people who buy and resell tickets for a quick profit – the pre-sales system also meant many fans registered for tickets in multiple destinations across Europe to increase their chances.

Tim and Marcella, who live in Norwich, registered not just for the nearest concerts – in London and Liverpool – but also in Amsterdam and Lisbon. The pair got lucky with a pair of €91 tickets in the Portuguese capital and have turned the trip into a weekend break. “I used to live in Lisbon so I thought why not kill two birds with one stone,” Tim said. “We booked ourselves flights and four nights’ accommodation the same day.” They are far from alone.

Katie Soo, the chief business officer of DICE, a rival ticketing company, said: “The excitement and uncertainty inherent in the ticket-purchasing process might have inadvertently incentivised fans to apply for tickets in multiple cities, thereby increasing the likelihood of travelling across Europe to attend the concerts.”

Hotel prices

Several European cities have already reported a sharp rise in demand for hotel and short-term rental accommodation over the summer, when the Swift hurricane will arrive. In Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff, rooms at the Travelodge chain around Swift’s June dates have been sold out since August 2023, a month after tickets for the shows went on sale.

In Paris, where fans anticipate Swift to debut an updated version of the Eras show with songs from the new Tortured Poets Department album, 80% of hotels and apartments listed on Booking.com are already full up. In Warsaw on 2 August, only 9% of hotels listed on the same site are still available.

Not all of the 18 cities covered by the Eras tour are obvious tourism destinations. From 17-19 July, Swift will play three concerts at the 65,000-capacity home ground of the football club Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen in Ruhr valley, western Germany. The city’s less-than-familiar name prompted one US chatshow host to quip that “the place might not even exist”.

Yet even in Germany’s rust belt the influx of Swift fans is temporarily transforming the hotel market: any two-bedroom apartments that remain available are going for €800-2,000 a night, with cheaper accommodation available only in surrounding cities that are just as off the usual tourist track as Gelsenkirchen, such as Essen, Bochum or Herne.

Cities with stricter rules on allowing Airbnb-style holiday lets and a more limited stock of short-term rental apartments are reporting a particularly marked increase in rates during Swift’s visit, with about 30% year-on-year spikes in rental rates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Milan, according to AirDNA, a data analytics company specialising in the short-term rentals market.

Of all the tour’s European stops, Vienna is experiencing the most notable impact on its rental market, with booking rates for the nights of Swift’s concerts recorded in February 44% higher than at the same point the previous year. By the end of March the number of nights booked in the Austrian capital for the length of Swift’s stay in the second week of August had risen by 430% compared with the same period in 2023.

When Luke Tilden’s wife, Tatjana, suggested last summer that the couple buy their 13- and 15-year-old daughters, Lena and Maya, tickets to a Taylor Swift gig for Christmas, the 53-year-old Briton initially waved it off. “There’s no chance in hell we’d get a ticket without paying through our noses, I thought,” said Tilden, who works as an interpreter at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

But after pre-registering for tickets in London, Paris and Munich, the Tildens got unexpectedly lucky for four tickets in southern Germany and have turned the concert visit into a mini-holiday: “We’ll visit the in-laws in Bavaria, enjoy the countryside, do a bit of hiking.”

The hope in cities across Europe is that this will be replicated on a massive scale, with fans’ excitement translating into generous spending sprees on food, shopping and leisure. In Stockholm, for example, where authorities are expecting 159,000 visitors to arrive from 135 countries in mid-May, the chamber of commerce has forecast a spending boost of €50m. “We hope the whole town will buzz from the Eras tour,” said Tomas Andersson, a spokesperson for the Swedish capital’s tourism board.

Whether fans will necessarily act like ordinary tourists, however, is up for debate. “Pop-culture tourists do not necessarily care about traditional buildings and authentic restaurants,” said Maria Lexhagen, a professor at the European Tourism Research Institute, Mid Sweden University.

“Joining up with other fan communities is stronger motivation, as is the idea that they might get closer to the stars themselves. Many of them will map out where Swift is spending her time in the city – they will seek out seemingly marginal but meaningful places like back alleys or coffee shops.” Venues may be hoping for a repeat of Sydney in February, when Swift swept into an unassuming Italian restaurant in the suburbs and sent its name into global media headlines.

A view of the exterior of Pellegrino 2000 in Sydney

In Stockholm the tourism board said it was expecting bookshops and secondhand clothes stores, rather than museums and royal palaces, to attract most of the arriving visitors. Some venues are being proactive: one restaurant within walking distance of the multipurpose Friends Arena in the Solna municipality is putting on a “Taylor Swift brunch experience” with a karaoke stage; the waterfront nightclub Debaser is hosting a pre-concert party on 16 May, an all-ages all-day party with a Swift-themed quiz on 19 May and an afterparty the day after.

Environment

As the Swift circus rolls across the continent, the transport infrastructure of urban centres will also be put to the test. Around the tour’s three-night stop in Dublin at the end of June, Irish Rail has announced additional late-night services to Cork and Limerick to meet an expected increase in demand. Extra tram and bus services are likely to be announced nearer the time.

Unlike rail operators, most airlines do not have capacity to charter additional flights. Due to yield management – airlines adjusting prices based on expected demand – a scramble for airborne journeys into cities that host the Eras tour is more likely to result in more expensive tickets rather than additional flights.

Officials at Lisbon airport said no additional flights had been chartered around Swift’s concerts on 24 and 25 May but that demand would probably be reflected in slightly higher load factors. A spokesperson for Amsterdam Schiphol said general aviation slots could be requested at short notice but nothing out of the ordinary had been logged so far.

Calculating the environmental impact of the tour with any certainty was difficult, experts said. “We can expect that some Swift fans will travel a long way to see one, if not several, shows across Europe”, said Stefan Gössling, a professor of tourism at Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. “But measuring the environmental impact of these trips is extremely difficult – it would involve a lot of guesswork.”

Swift fans queue to buy a merchandise

This did not mean the carbon footprint was negligible. “Every flight taken by a person adds to demand and hence influences supply considerations,” Gössling said. “The greater the demand, the more aircrafts are in service.”

The pop star’s carbon footprint is easier to estimate. Swift owns two jets by the French manufacturer Dassault, whose journeys are trackable. During the 2023 leg of the Eras tour, Swift’s planes spent 166 hours crisscrossing the US in about 75 individual journeys, though it is possible they were used by people other than the singer.

According to data available through the open-access aviation tracker ADS-B exchange, Swift’s jets caused carbon emissions of about 2,830 tonnes of CO 2 equivalent over the course of the US Eras tour – about 1,700 times the annual contribution of an average person.

A spokesperson for Swift told US media last year that in advance of the tour’s start in March 2023, the pop star bought more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel. Carbon offset credits are tradable certificates that allow purchasers to compensate for emissions by investing in environmental projects that claim to reduce carbon emissions, though recent studies have questioned the efficacy of these schemes.

Taylor Swift fans in UK targeted by surge in ticket scams ahead of Eras tour arrival, bank warns

taylor swift uk tour tickets general sale

More than £1 million could already have been lost by Taylor Swift fans in the UK to fraudsters pretending to be selling tickets for her concerts, a major bank has warned.

Lloyds Bank has issued an alert to Swifties, saying that more than 600 Lloyds Banking Group customers have come forward so far to report being victims of scams.

The figures were based on analysis of purchase scams reported by customers of Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, where Swift and/or the Eras Tour were referenced as part of the claim, between July 2023 and March 2024.

It's easy to let our emotions get the better of us when we find out our favourite artist is going to be performing live, but it’s important not to let those feelings cloud our judgment when trying to get hold of tickets

Liz Ziegler, Lloyds Bank

The average amount lost by each victim was £332, though in some cases the loss was more than £1,000, Lloyds said.

As the figures are based solely on Lloyds Bank’s own customer data, it estimates that, across the UK, there are likely to have been at least 3,000 victims since tickets went on sale, with more than £1 million being lost to fraudsters so far.

The calculation is based on Lloyd Banking Group’s current account market share and assumes similar trends across customers of other UK banks.

The Eras Tour will kick off on 7 June in Edinburgh and wrap up on 20 August in London - where the global star is playing eight shows at Wembley stadium. The 15 date tour has long been sold out.

Fans aged 25 to 34 who are trying to get their hands on sold-out tickets are most likely to be targeted, with many scams originating on social media, Lloyds warned.

Buying a new car? Here's why Omoda needs to be on your radar

Looking more broadly at concert ticket scams, fans of major artists such as Coldplay, Beyonce and Harry Styles were among those targeted last summer, Lloyds said.

Across all concert ticket scams, victims were losing £133 on average.

Purchase scams can happen when someone is tricked into sending money via bank transfer to buy goods or services that are fake, shoddy, or do not exist.

Ticket scams often involve fake adverts, posts or listings on social media, often offering tickets or access to events which have already sold out.

Victims are asked to pay up-front for the tickets, but once the payment is made the scammers disappear. This leaves the buyer without the tickets and out of pocket.

When tickets for an event are scarce, fraudsters know they can cash in on eager fans willing to pay much more, by falsely claiming to have tickets for sale.

There are often two waves of fraud – the first when tickets go on sale and the second around the time an event takes place – Lloyds said.

Liz Ziegler, fraud prevention director, Lloyds Bank, said: “For her legion of dedicated Swifties, the excitement is building ahead of Taylor’s Eras Tour finally touching down in the UK this summer.

“However cruel fraudsters have wasted no time in targeting her most loyal fans as they rush to pick up tickets for her must-see concerts.

“It’s easy to let our emotions get the better of us when we find out our favourite artist is going to be performing live, but it’s important not to let those feelings cloud our judgment when trying to get hold of tickets.”

Don't be tempted to buy tickets from anyone other than authorised sellers, as your rights can be significantly reduced if something goes wrong

Lisa Webb, Which?

Lisa Webb, consumer law expert at Which?, said: “We’ve heard from disappointed Swifties who have bought tickets on social media, only to realise it’s a scam when their promised tickets never materialise. Unfortunately, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

“Don’t be tempted to buy tickets from anyone other than authorised sellers, as your rights can be significantly reduced if something goes wrong. If you are buying tickets, we recommend you pay using your credit card if the tickets cost more than £100, or by PayPal , as both these methods may provide protection if something goes wrong.

“If you think you have fallen victim to a ticket scam, contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud or Police Scotland.”

Here are some general tips from Lloyds Bank to stay safe when buying concert tickets:

1. Buy from trusted retailers

Only purchase tickets from well-known, official ticket platforms.

Be cautious on social media – remember it is easy for fraudsters to create fake ads including pictures of real tickets.

2. Avoid deals that look too good to be true

Tickets for sale at low prices or for sold-out events should ring alarm bells. Ask yourself if the deal seems realistic.

3. Consider paying by debit or credit card

This helps to protect your money should something go wrong. PayPal is another option that gives people added protections if something goes wrong.

All UK and Ireland dates will be supported by US rock band Paramore.

In a five-star review of the very first show of Swift’s Eras tour , critic Kelsey Barnes wrote how the US star guided fans through more than a decade’s worth of “her best work”.

“Her ‘Eras Tour’ was designed as a journey through that staggering back catalogue of 10 albums, from her earlier country twang on her self-titled debut to the shift to synth-pop on 1989 , then to the subdued folk and alt-rock of Folklore and Evermore ,” she wrote.

“Throughout the opening night of the tour, it frequently feels as though the audience is being caught up with Swift’s past, present and future. In the 44-song setlist that spans three hours and 15 minutes, she shows why the “era” concept is so integral to who she is. Each chapter marks a specific shift in her artistry.”

The Tortured Poets Department, released on 19 April, is the pop titan’s 11th studio album. It appears to have been inspired, in part, by the five stages of grief. Ahead of the release, Swift shared five new playlists that arrange her songs into those stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

“These songs represent making room for more good in your life,” she says in a brief audio message that accompanied the final playlist, acceptance. “Making that choice. Because a lot of time when we lose things, we gain things too.”

It was the song that fans took as being coded with details of their feud, and now Kim Kardashian has responded to Taylor Swift’s ‘thanK you aIMee’ from The Tortured Poets Department . The song appears on Swift’s 11th album, which was released on April 19, 2024.

In her first interview after the release of The Tortured Poets Department , Kim Kardashian told Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “Life is good.” Jimmy Kimmel didn’t ask Kim about the album despite him mentioning Taylro in his opening monologue. However, they did share this one interesting fact: “You sleep with your eyes slightly open?” Kimmel asked. “I do!” Kim affirmed. “There’s footage because my sisters have taken videos and pictures.”

The feud between the “All Too Well” singer and  The Kardashians  star was  reportedly instigated  after Kim released a snippet of a conversation on Snapchat in 2016 between Taylor and her then-husband  Kanye West  where he shared a line of his song “Famous” to the referred to “Bad Blood” musician.“

To all my Southside N—s that know me best, I feel like  Taylor Swift  might owe me sex,” to which Taylor replied, “That’s not mean!” However, Taylor was unaware of the line “I made that b**ch famous” according to her reps. Taylor and Kanye have been in a  feud since 2009  when he bombarded her on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards to tell her that  Beyoncé deserved her VMA  more.

Taylor Swift’s “thanK you aIMee” lyrics

[Verse 1] When I picture my hometown There’s a bronze spray-tanned statue of you And a plaque underneath it That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school

[Pre-Chorus] And it was always the same searing pain But I dreamed that one day, I could say

[Chorus] All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel Screamed “Fuck you, Aimee” to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’ But I can’t forget the way you made me heal

[Verse 2] And it wasn’t a fair fight, or a clean kill Each time that Aimee stomped across my gravе And then she wrote hеadlines In the local paper, laughing at each baby step I’d take

[Pre-Chorus] And it was always the same searing pain But I prayed that one day, I could say

[Post-Chorus] Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman But she used to say she wished that you were dead I pushed each boulder up the hill Your words are still just ringing in my head, ringing in my head

[Verse 3] I wrote a thousand songs that you find uncool I built a legacy which you can’t undo But when I count the scars, there’s a moment of truth That there wouldn’t be this, if there hadn’t been you

[Bridge] And maybe you’ve reframed it And in your mind, you never beat my spirit black and blue I don’t think you’ve changed much And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues And one day, your kid comes home singin’ A song that only us two is gonna know is about you, ’cause—

[Chorus] All that time you were throwin’ punches, it was all for nothin’ And our town, it looks so small, from way up here Screamed “Thank you, Aimee” to the night sky, and the stars are stunnin’ ‘Cause I can’t forget the way you made me heal

[Outro] Thank you, Aimee Thank you, Aimee
